My guess would be that low-level paid shills for celebs’ PR agencies probably glean through DL for entertainment related threads from time to time, and maybe even the occasion celebrity. After all, they’re human just like the rest of us, and they can get caught up in lapping up gossip, too.

Of course, DL is small-fry for anyone of major fame to be personally concerned with, but, rumors and trends all have to begin somewhere, and what better place to initiate them than on some relatively obscure forum such as The DL? It’s fertile ground for trolls with an agenda and people in entertainment with nefarious intentions.

As a test, I've tried keywords and phrases that I know are on here because I'm looking right at the thread, and Google comes up with zero hits.
