OP, I entered this thread based on the title alone. I was going to mention La Buckley as well.

She posts more on Twitter than any Millennial/Gen X,Y,Zer I follow.

I only read about celebrities on DL. There just aren't any of them that I care about any longer, but I am disappointed about Jamie Lee Curtis. I thought she was at least a bit humble.

I haven't been on her Insta lately, but Britney used to post WAY too many "twirling" videos.

Henry Cavill’s Insta posts nonstop theist photos all day. It was delicious for a few days, but now it’s exhausting.

I thought it was Betty Buckley’s grandson or someone doing her posts

I'm glad my celebrity idols of the past died before the advent of social media. I prefer celebrities to retain an aura of mystique.

Social media ruined celebrity for me.

Buckley does post a lot but I find her posts kind of sweet. Maybe I’m her target audience (eldergay). Her mom, her horses and other animals, photos and vids of her stage and screen roles.

Buckley hasn't posted in a few hours, which makes me believe she also reads DL (and saw this thread).

Rosie O’Donnell. I love her and her politics. But she posts like 20 times a day. Lately she is obsessed with a squirrel that visits her patio. Pretty cute. But now not only does ‘Peanut’ the squirrel have his own account, she’s still posting pictures of him on her regular account.

In fairness, Buckley has been active online for a long time. I saw her a couple of times in concert in the late 1990s and after the show got her autograph and chatted. She definitely kept track of the messages people left on her website guestbook.

What else is Betty Buckley going to do other than post over again to her Twitter feed?

Hollywood is hardly breaking down her door with offers for "An Eight is Enough Arbor Day Celebration."

Cher - not only does she post too much but she sounds like she’s had a Third Grade education - which is probably true.

I had to unfollow Betty, too. Gurl posts everything.

I saw a weird local tv interview Betty did, where she was growing annoyed over most of the questions being about 8 is Enuf, and one in particular where the lady interviewer asked her what Abby and Tom Bradford would be doing today (this was 1992ish) and she said all their money would be gone, bailing out their deadbeat kids, and Abby would have been slowly poisoning Tom, drying to do him in.

Rita Wilson and Trudie Styler, celebrity wives, not really celebrities themselves. They’re always posting on other celeb accounts, inserting themselves into the comments section, trying to elbow their way into relevance.

I’ve noticed many older actresses really love Twitter. They’re full of emotion and have a lot to say.

At least Cher has a unique social media “voice” to say the least, and is quite amusing and sometimes vulnerable. There’s an honesty about her.

Bette Midler on the other hand I find annoying. Just wants attention. I always pictured her tweeting from her $50 million apartment or whatever it is, eating ice cream out of the tub as she feverishly scrolls and types.

I feel this way about all people's social media - celebrity and non-celebrity - whose entire content is selfies

Of all the amazing and beautiful things in a person's life there are to document and share, the only thing that you think is of interest is yourself.

R60 I have a 40something female cousin who has been doing the daily multiple selfie thing for years. The addition of Instagram "stories" only made it worse. I'm repulsed yet fascinated. I'd like to understand the mindset but there's no way of asking without giving insult. She works in PR, maybe she thinks she's presenting herself like a celebrity?

It is a little disappointing but I guess not really surprising when celebs like Michelle Pfeiffer mostly post selfies. It just confirms that they're all incredibly vain. I particularly cringe at the "no filter- this is 40" (or 50, or 60) birthday selfies that seem to be a thing.

Oscar Isaac's wife posts on Instagram fairly frequently & its nothing too intrusive, just kind of highlighting their Brooklyn hipster lifestyle, but aside from drumming up interest in their various projects (she creates documentaries, I think), why do it at all? If you're a serious actor/spouse of actor, why are you wasting your time on that shit or at least making it public? It's one thing if you're some wannabe influencer, pushing some skin cream or something, but I feel kind of judgmental about posting from people who you'd think would want to keep their lives as private as possible.

I think there's pressure on celebrities to maintain a strong social media presence with many followers.

I stopped following Drew Barrymore immediately after this...

I follow beautiful Johnny Bailey. He seems to think so too. Every moody publicity shot, he posts. I guess that's what it's for. But I often think about not following him because him pouting into the camera does nothing for me. His interviews are always thoughtful but his social is just peacocking. I follow Dolly, too. Nobody I follow overposts. Am pretty sure I gave up on Cher for the reasons cited above. I'm still following Buckley but she is high volume.

It's one thing to use it when you have to promote a project, but social media has made me realize that most celebrity's day to day lives are just as dull as us regular folk when they're not working. I don't want to see a picture of my aunt's dinner and I don't want to see a picture of Jamie Lee Curtis' dinner either.

Tbh I'd rather see her dinner than some do-gooder type post.

I follow some tv stars (current cast of NCIS) on instagram. They only post to promote their show's "new episode tonight!". Since it's summer show hiatus now, they've all gone quiet. I respect that. I guess they also know their demographic who watches NCIS.

I also believe most celebs over say, 60 don't run their own instagram or twitter.

Boomers (I'm a late one) tend to be either completely befuddled by social media or massively enthusiastic about it. I try to know my place and be sparing as far as posting photos.

So many celebrities, and regular people, too, simply post photos of themselves all day. So many narcissists out there. It's refreshing when you see a celebrity post photos of what looks like a normal life.

I don't follow her but I enjoy Yolanda Hadid's Instagram feed when I see it. She has a fulfilling life now and seems so much happier than when she was on RHofBH.
