Has anyone who's had one have a really strong reaction from it? I had one Thursday and started to feel really fatigued that night and have had flu like symptoms since. Achey, chills, headache, and really fatigued but no fever. I feel how many have described feeling after a booster which I felt nothing after all three. I took a rapid test so it's not that. Or is it just cause I'm old.
Shingles vaccine

I had those exact same symptoms with my Shingrix shots. For me, they were way worse than the Covid vaccines. I figure they were worth it, though, in order to avoid the hell of shingles!

PS I'm old, too.

I had about 24 hours of utter fatigue following each of the two shots. Took a couple of naps each time. No other symptoms. Still waaaaay better than shingles.

Same here. It took a few days to pass but it's better than getting shingles. I'm also old.

I've been vaccinated against everything with no side effects until this past Wednesday when I had my second shingles shot. Low grade fever and chills, arm pain with redness and swelling the next day. Fever was gone yesterday but arm was still red and swollen. Today is the first day I've felt almost back to normal. It means your immune system is working correctly and that's a good thing.

A sore arm, nothing more.

I had the shingles vaccine and covid booster on the same day. So I could not say which one caused more fatigue. But they were in separate arms and the Shingles one hurt for a lot longer, almost a week. I will need to get the 2nd shingles one soon.

I answered at replies 118 and 121 on this thread:

Yes, it felt like an 18 hour flu. Likewise, the pneumonia vax. As others have said, much much better than a case of either.

Recently had my second Shingrix shot. First shot, no reaction beyond a sore arm. This time, about 20 hours later, I became a bit chilled and fatigued. Spent the afternoon in bed and then was fine by dinner.

My dad is suffering from shingles right now. I went to the doctor Thursday for a check up and asked for the vaccine but they wouldn't give it to me. I'm 48 and said i had to wait until i'm 50.

Slightly fatigued after the first shot. But after the second dose I had a very high fever overnight which broke by the morning.
A year after the second shot, I actually got shingles, but it was a very slight case thanks to the vaccine.

Yeah after the second shot I felt like shit for one day.
I also had already had shingles on my face and almost lost my sight in one eye from it, so it was a teeny price to pay.

I had a similar reaction with the Shingles vaccines last year. After the first shot I had severe fatigue. It only lasted a few hours.
I had chills after the second shot, but it only lasted for about a half an hour.

I don't know why, but a lot of people get it in the eye.

Can we have your stuff, OP?

Fatigue and arm pain — especially after the second shot but, overall, not as bad as I had anticipated. It’s a relief to have it out of the way.

Everyone I know who got either type of shingles shot has had a strong reaction to it.

Got second shot yesterday and oy vey. Fever, sweats, vomited, achy, tired. My arm is killing me. Taking Advil Plus (Advil and tylenol) but have to take 4 pills at once because it’s so low dose.

First injection, zero side effects aside from injection site soreness.
Second injection, developed chills and fatigue 24 hours later, which lasted 6-7 hours.

OP, You described the symptoms I had after the Shingrix vaccine.
1st shot -- Was run down and sore for about 72 hours. Had fever of over 100 for the first 24.
2nd shot -- Was sick as a dog for 48 hours. Splitting headache. Nausea. Felt very bad. But no fever at all.
Wasn't any fun. But I'd sure rather experience those smptoms for a few days than deal with Shingles.

Just a sore arm, both times. It took about 6 hours for the soreness to develop. Until then, since everyone I'd read had been reporting soreness, I was sure I'd not actually gotten the vaccine (I even called the pharmacy to be sure they'd given me the correct dose).
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 7, 2022 10:52 PM |
I was a little fatigued but nothing major.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 7, 2022 10:55 PM |
Having significant symptoms after the vaccine is a common effect. It is a live vaccine.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 7, 2022 11:00 PM |
Very mild symptoms with both the first and second dose. Both were unremarkable. Unlike the Moderna vaccine dose two, and the first and second boosters, all of which were brutal.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 7, 2022 11:00 PM |
The second time I went, they told me to do push-ups against the side of the car to help prevent injection site soreness. I forgot. But it’s a good tip.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 7, 2022 11:13 PM |
Sad our soreness with first shot, the symptoms you describe with the second. It’s very individual, I gather

I had site soreness for both shots. Fortunately that was all. My brother (70) who never gets any vaccines got Shingles a month ago. It is on the left side of his face up into his hairline. He has been miserable. He said he never felt that bad in his life. His teeth hurt. He is doing better but is still hurting.
