I'm not sure I understand the difference between Sephardic, Ashkenazi and Mizrahi. What kind of (half) Jew is Oliver Jackson-Cohen? According to him, his Jewish father was half Tunisian, half Egyptian, and his family was among the Egyptian Jews kicked out of Egypt in the 1950s who mostly then migrated to France. He looked like a light-skinned Arab.

Some--but not most--Mizrachi Jews are darker than Europeans and can look (to Americans) like Puerto Ricans.

The confusion is that in the religious ritual, there are two traditions, Ashkenazi and Sephardic that date back centuries and the Mizrachi Jews follow the Sephardic rites (and Sephardic pronunciation of Hebrew, which became the Modern Hebrew pronunciation) and thus Mizrachim are often lumped together with Sephardim by American Jews, who are largely Ashkenazi and unfamiliar with non-Ashkenazi Jews.

But in Israel, where Mizrachim are the majority, people are aware of the differences.
