R91, Uh? huh? Can you translate your post? What are you saying?
You are obviously an ignorant American because only in America are Jews considered "a religion". The rest of the world considers Jews a separate national and cultural identity, like Italian, Spanish, Frence, Brazilian, etc.
R201, you nailed it! One of the ways the Nazi’s were able to arrest and grab Jews in Europe and put them into concentration camps was by their surnames. Also, their names were listed in records. Many, many Jews were very bohemian back then and/or who were atheists. So many Jews in Europe were highly into the arts, writers, education, financial world, and the jewelry industry. There was also a lot of very poor Jews as well. So many artists, writers, intellectuals were over all very liberal minded and were not religious. If the Nazis grabbed Jews based on their religion, the Jewish population that were slaughtered would have been reduced greatly. Even Jews who converted to Catholicism were not safe. There was absolutely no escape. In fact, some people who were in the camps didn’t know they were Jewish as a result of generations of assimilation because many throughout the centuries in Europe wanted to be accepted so they tried to assimilate with the genitals. But again, the records and/or their surnames they kept allowed the Nazis to able to be successful in their mass genocide.
My dad bought a couple of books on Jewish surnames because he was researching his genealogy around 15 years ago. He came from Spain when he was a kid to America. He heard he had Jewish ancestry. Not only he found out throughout his whole family line they were Jews who converted to Catholicism way back in the inquisition, but my mother found out that was the case in her ancestry as well. They reclaimed their identities and embraced it. However, on both my mother’s and father’s family they have not only Jewish, but many other ethnicities. I mean we have almost everything in our family tree. The books that my dad bought on Jewish surnames state surnames that are animal names, colors, names of places like London, and surnames of occupation are all Jewish surnames. Also, surnames that are saint this, saint that, are Jews who were forced to convert to Catholicism in the Inquisition. Most royal titles that are surnames are Jewish surnames because even though the royal crowns of Europe hated Jews, so many Jews worked for the royal families as teachers, financial consultants, architects, etc. and gave hem titles.
Btw, I know James Franco’s mother is Jewish, but the surname Franco is a Sephardic Jewish surname.
Btw, are any of these guys listed on this thread gay? Also, I always thought David Schwimmer is hot. Is he bisexual? I read that somewhere.
