‘Love, Victor’ season 3 will be its final season

HULU has decided to end the show with its upcoming third season, and will come out June 15!

I’m so sad about this. I loved the first season, but only liked the second, however I still liked it. But I had a feeling it wouldn’t last long because season 2 didn’t generate the buzz and attention the first one did, so I assume not as many people were watching it.

Shame, it’s a fun show. But the first season was so cute and charming.

I liked it. In these times when the anti-gay fascists are crawling out from under their rocks yet again. Think the kids need a show like this. The battle is never over. We need all the weapons we can get. Of course I also like to ogle hispanic twinks.

by Anonymousreply 9February 8, 2022 11:20 PM

I hope they have a threeway with Charlie Hall this season.

by Anonymousreply 10February 8, 2022 11:24 PM

Victor needs to come out as TRANS.

It would be the perfect ending.

by Anonymousreply 11February 8, 2022 11:26 PM

Victor 's LITTLE BROTHER , ADRIAN, needs to come out as TRANS.

It would be the perfect ending.

by Anonymousreply 12February 9, 2022 12:59 AM

Damn.

Of course. One of my current favs gets the ax. Always.

What a bummer. Such a well-made, feel-good show and needed in these times.

by Anonymousreply 13February 9, 2022 2:44 AM

So not only are they ending it, but they only got 8 episodes for Season 3 unlike the 10 episodes Season 1 and 2 got.

Man, Hulu was ready for this to be over.

by Anonymousreply 14February 9, 2022 2:56 AM

I felt bad when I heard. They also said it would only be 8 episodes this season which stinks. I know this. They better make sure Benji and Victor get back together. Rahim can find his own man. Little fucker. Now, Michael loves to be on Instagram and Tik Tok. So does the unforgivably attractive Mason. But I only have eyes for George. Man is way too beautiful. If anyone hears any rumors about why they shortened it I'd love to know. Some fans speculated that they gave everyone raises and blew up the budget for the final season. So fewer episodes.

by Anonymousreply 15February 9, 2022 2:58 AM

Well the show was LAME so not surprised. It never reached the emotional punch of the movie, despite having18 more hours of runtime to work with. It all just felt sort of bland and far too conservative. I was sick of Victor acting naive one minute then a mean little bottom bitch the next. Couldn't communicate and left people out to dry.

I love the idea of the show but feel that coming out stories already feel like a dated concept.

by Anonymousreply 16February 9, 2022 3:01 AM

This was originally a Disney+ show that was just pushed off for Hulu to handle. It's quite possible the Hulu team never really wanted it, without big numbers why bother continuing.

See, I think this is what happens when you get straight guys playing Gay. To do it in a movie or a very limited series, they all claim they can do it just fine, no worries. Now they had like a couple scenes in Season 2 where Victor and his boyfriend were fucking. Or trying to. They were cuddling at the bonfire, and making out in the storeroom at work, and the Janitor's closet at school, and kissing constantly. But kissing gets boring and there's a point where you have to do more. And Obviously in Season 3 they have to take the intimacy to another level. And maybe he breaks up with the hot boyfriend and decides to be a little whoor. So he has to get naked or semi naked and act convincingly like he is fucking around another guy. And if you're straight, all that stuff works on your mind. It can rock your world. If they had cast Gay guys they could have had ten seasons of convincing sex. Well, maybe not ten, but I'm just sayin"

by Anonymousreply 19February 9, 2022 12:06 PM

wtf? It has nothing to do with the sexuality of the actors. 🤦

by Anonymousreply 20February 9, 2022 1:09 PM

What will happen to the cute boys?

by Anonymousreply 21February 9, 2022 1:28 PM

R19 is deranged. I wish there gay members of the cast too but your post is one of the dumbest and nonsensical things I've read on this board.

by Anonymousreply 22February 9, 2022 1:44 PM

R21 They’ll be put down, like the dogs that didn’t get adopted by the end of the month, even if they came in on the 28th.

by Anonymousreply 24February 11, 2022 1:17 AM

Why was it canceled? Season 2 didn’t bring in good numbers. That’s why.

Like most gay shows.

by Anonymousreply 25February 11, 2022 1:21 AM

Michael Cimino is heterosexual? It’s a new breed of straight guys nowadays. The lines are blurring. We aren’t harassing and bullying men into traditional masculine behavior like we used to. So straight guys are calming down a little bit.

by Anonymousreply 26February 11, 2022 1:39 AM

Victor is a whore.

That's why we cancelled the show.

by Anonymousreply 27February 11, 2022 1:42 AM

I never watched the show, but I like the brown guy.

by Anonymousreply 28February 11, 2022 1:58 AM

I’m rooting for Rahim. Benji is damaged goods. I was done with him when he disrespected Victor’s mom. Granted, she was being extra when Victor came out but we’ve seen FAR worse homophobic parents than that. She didn’t deserve Benji disrespecting her in her own house. Fuck Benji, and not in a good way. Rahim is fucking adorable, inside and out.

by Anonymousreply 29February 11, 2022 2:36 AM

I’m hoping the character played by Lukas Gage comes back in and sweeps Victor off his feet and teaches him how to eat ass like in White Lotus.

by Anonymousreply 30February 11, 2022 4:00 AM

Off course Rahim being the "queer Muslim" need to be the the effeminate flamboyant caricature. I guess a regular masculine probably top Muslim guy will make people uncomfortable.

And as mentioned in other thread Victor have transformed from the sweet gay teen in season 1 to Carrie Bradshaw in season 2.

by Anonymousreply 31February 11, 2022 4:31 AM

Benji isn’t gorgeous. Actually, his face isn’t even that cute.

Season 1 did very well, which is why they gave it a second season, despite it being a dump off from Disney+. Season 2 did not perform nearly as well so they decided to give it a final season.

Remember, they even took a while to announce they would give it a season 3. They were debating if they should just cancel it or not but decided to give it one last go.

by Anonymousreply 32February 11, 2022 7:47 AM

Victor is no Simon.

[quote] Victor is no Simon.

by Anonymousreply 34February 11, 2022 8:07 AM

Love, Simon wasn’t some box office smash either. Some of you live on a deluded world of make believe.

On top of that, the complaints that a show made for 13 year olds is not graphic enough shows how fucked up in the head some of you are.

by Anonymousreply 35February 11, 2022 8:14 AM

Love, Simon had a hotter lead, that’s all.

by Anonymousreply 36February 11, 2022 8:21 AM

Simon has herpes and crabs.

by Anonymousreply 37February 11, 2022 8:25 AM

Nick isn’t hot.

by Anonymousreply 38February 11, 2022 8:53 AM

3 seasons means that it wasn’t popular for the masses.

by Anonymousreply 39February 11, 2022 9:03 AM

The show was so lame and tame.

No dongs, no regrets.

by Anonymousreply 40February 11, 2022 9:03 AM

Fisting accident gone wrong?

by Anonymousreply 41February 11, 2022 9:06 AM

A lot of exclusive streaming platform shows get just three seasons to tell their story (easy binge-watching experience). Only the super successful ones, like Stranger Things, get more. You rarely read about shows being cancelled prematurely (who would bother with a show that, say, ends with a cliffhanger?).

by Anonymousreply 42February 11, 2022 10:46 AM

[quote] Cimino identifies as straight, although said of his sexuality, "I don't want to put myself in a box and put myself in a position where if I were to come out as bi or as gay 10 years from now, that I was defending an identity that was being true to myself."

From one of his interviews…what exactly is he saying?

by Anonymousreply 43February 11, 2022 12:49 PM

R43 Another Lucas Hedges. LOL!

by Anonymousreply 44February 11, 2022 1:00 PM

Fuck you R29 for defending an abusive homophobic POS instead of a teenager, a kid, basically, who has had a real struggle with coming out. His words in Season 1 if you were really listening, "I didn't want to be Gay. I drank a lot." Then the accident that lands him in a hospital because he literally drove his car into a brick wall? He was into harming himself. Maybe even a suicide attempt. And because he went though all that, he was protective and supportive of Victor, even though he, himself is very fragile.. Think about how it would be if you had a boyfriend who you were crazy about, and he was really close to his mother, who wouldn't even allow you in her house. Adrian not knowing was her leverage. Because every single person who came into that house had cooperate in her lying to Adrian. She couldn't even look at Benji, without triggering her gag reflex. She threw out an entire dinner rather than share a meal with him.

Isabel, Victor's mother was my least favorite character. She was a homophobic, manipulative abusive bitch. Yet we are supposed to be patient with her, tolerate her, excuse he and place all the burden on a kid? No Way. You are confusing standing up for yourself with being disrespectful. Benji never disrespected her. Please also remember. It was Victor who called him and asked him to come over. It was Victor who said my mother isn't home. It was Victor who said come into my bedroom. Victor knew his bother was home. So spare me the bullshit of Benji being disrespectful and Benji being toxic. I'm tired of that narrative because it justifies that horrible witch's behavior. Victor was a thoughtless cunt. Isabel knew she was wrong. She admitted it to he husband and even went to the cafe to apologize to Benji.

Her thing was power. She felt like Benji was influencing Victor and she was insecure about her son having someone else besides her as an influence. That's why she got along with Rahim. She recognized Rahim. He was femme. Some might even say, stereotypically Gay. This is what people like her think of when you say Gay. Rahim was not fucking her son. So he was welcome in he house and she sang show tunes with him. How cliche'.

by Anonymousreply 45February 11, 2022 1:22 PM

I don’t know, R44. That statement reminds me of that Josh Hutcherson interview a few years ago where he claimed that he could possibly fall in love with a guy in the future. It’s like their publicists coached them on maintaining gay viewership.

by Anonymousreply 46February 11, 2022 1:23 PM

The guy from that show who is going to hit it big, is Mason Gooding. He's landed in the Scream Franchise and the producers of Love Victor adore him. They are putting him in other projects..

by Anonymousreply 47February 11, 2022 1:40 PM

[quote] Her thing was power. She felt like Benji was influencing Victor and she was insecure about her son having someone else besides her as an influence. That's why she got along with Rahim. She recognized Rahim. He was femme. Some might even say, stereotypically Gay.

I think the mother was less threatened by Rahim, because he was less threatening in a sexual way. Rahim was campy and entertaining. Benji was more what she expected: Catching Victor and Benji in the act of making out, bringing all the sordid homo sex business into her pure, Christian mind. You know, the one that told her to cheat on her husband with his boss, and they had to move because of it.

by Anonymousreply 48February 11, 2022 1:49 PM

R42 Stranger things? Season 3 was like 3-4 years ago and they’re getting a 4th season. No one knows if it will get more. These streaming shows are canceled over any little thing.

GLOW was successful and they canceled it anyway, after renewing it.

Love Victor, like Love Simon, was a show/movie for teens. I find it strange when 50+ year old men are invested in shows for kids.

by Anonymousreply 49February 11, 2022 1:58 PM

I think it 's about money. When a new show drops, something original, it's cheap. If it hits, and they renew it for a second and a third season and a fourth, two things happen, one is that the costs go up and it becomes more expensive, and corollary to that, the actors want more money to remain in the series. Some of them only have the series. But others, like a Mason Gooding, may have a lot of other offers and since the show really didn't use Mason enough, and his character was going nowhere, he is grateful it's cancelled.

by Anonymousreply 50February 11, 2022 2:06 PM

[quote] I find it strange when 50+ year old men are invested in shows for kids.

Here's a thought... not everyone here is older. And two, most of us never had anything like this to enjoy when we were younger. God forbid we enjoy a little fluff actually made with people like us in mind.

by Anonymousreply 51February 11, 2022 2:11 PM

[quote] Stranger things? Season 3 was like 3-4 years ago and they’re getting a 4th season. No one knows if it will get more.

So you agree, that four seasons are more than three seasons? Well done.

by Anonymousreply 52February 11, 2022 2:11 PM

Exactly, R51. I'm in my 40's and I watch it with my mother who loves it. She's 68. In fact she is the one who found it and told me about it.

by Anonymousreply 53February 11, 2022 2:18 PM

I actually feel this site has more teenage and 20 something girls than old gay men. Judging by all the fan threads.

The anal sex, porn and anti-Republican threads remind me this is a gay site.

That said people can enjoy fluffy feel good stuff. Us gays deserve it instead of all the depressing gay films with HIV, heartbreak and death that was ubiquitous in the 90s and 2000s

by Anonymousreply 54February 11, 2022 2:19 PM

R53 is being in your 40s the same as being 13?????? You still aren’t the demographic. Sit down and watch it or shut the fuck up. It’s a kids show. You seem sick and perverted.

by Anonymousreply 55February 11, 2022 2:34 PM

R54 nope. You and your sock accounts aren’t teens, nor are they other people. The site doesn’t have a lot of people to begin with anymore, yet alone tons of young people.

by Anonymousreply 64February 11, 2022 7:16 PM

Now we are comparing The Golden Girls to this? On another thread you were comparing teens/young adults to 12 year olds. Im starting to think you have a real problem.

by Anonymousreply 65February 11, 2022 7:17 PM

Oh my r45! I do think we touched a nerve. Was your inner Benji insulted. LOL

by Anonymousreply 66February 11, 2022 7:18 PM

Those of us who have been exposed and victimized by abusive homophobic bitches reacted in a visceral way the character of Isabel. was dawn. So the Nerve was homophobia. I'm a fan of the show. I have been on other sites discussing the characters and situations. My personal experience was not easy and if I had a program like this 15- 20 years ago it would have helped. But many of us were shocked at the blowback towards Benji's character saying he was disrespectful and toxic, actually giving Isabel a pass. So when I see that bullshit here I tell it, baby. No apologies. To produce and write and present a show about coming out, centered on a high school kid, on teenagers, and do it in a way that is sympathetic with that kind of abuse, is disgusting. At least at the end they have her admitting she was wrong and then going to the cafe to apologize. But watching her was painful to me.

by Anonymousreply 74February 13, 2022 3:28 AM

This show was still pretty tame and cheesy by the standards of most Hulu original programming. I think the writers didn't want to go too far given the Disney family friendly roots of the property. Had they pushed it edgier Hulu would probably be more interested.

by Anonymousreply 75February 13, 2022 12:27 PM

Hulu is majority-owned by Disney. It was just moved from one platform to another (under the same company) because they wanted to depict things beyond Disney+'s family friendly image (the irony being that there is stuff on Disney+ that is not all family friendly.)

by Anonymousreply 76February 13, 2022 12:43 PM

Cobra Kai has been Nielsen #1 top streaming show on Netflix for a few weeks now and it still hasn’t been renewed for s6 so maybe its not the ratings?

by Anonymousreply 77February 13, 2022 12:52 PM

Disney+ is fairly new, and the leadership struggles with the image branding. Hulu is supposed for the edgier titles of Disney entertainment. But, I guess too many cooks in the kitchen disagree which title belongs where in some cases.

r77, maybe there are unresolved contract issues (renegotiating salaries for some of the leading cast?)?

by Anonymousreply 78February 13, 2022 12:55 PM

R78, I read Ralph and William earned $100,000 (each) for each episode in s1-2 and then I heard it’s Ralph who was paid more than William so Idk which version is true.

by Anonymousreply 80February 13, 2022 1:21 PM

I don't believe that he's bi.

by Anonymousreply 98February 28, 2022 6:46 AM

Any young actor taking gay roles now seemingly is told he must make some kind of non-committal announcement about his theoretical possible future maybe non-straight evolution. It's a thing.

by Anonymousreply 99February 28, 2022 7:06 AM

I hope it ends with Simon sweeping in and rescuing Victor on his 18th birthday telling him it’s him, and always been him that he’s been in love with and whisking him a way to a fabulous new life as an A List Gay in NYC or LA because Simon is now the most famous and wealthy Social Media Gay the world has ever known. You know, the happy ending every young Gayling wishes for.

by Anonymousreply 103February 28, 2022 9:42 AM

I think Nic is likable but I've neve been attracted to him. Victor needs to get out here and whore around for a while. I want him to haunt the Gay bar and get laid a lot, and I want him to break in new young Gaylings.

by Anonymousreply 104February 28, 2022 1:22 PM

Brilliant idea: Evan Hansen and Victor or Simon or whoever get together for a three-way. I get all of these fictional people confused for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 105February 28, 2022 1:30 PM

The only three guys worth doing are Michael, George and Mason. They do it for me. And of course if Nico Greetham is part of the cast I add him to my short list.

by Anonymousreply 106February 28, 2022 6:07 PM

R106 You wouldn’t do tall, smart, strapping Charlie Hall, with the potential inheritance in the tens of millions of dollars if not hundreds?

by Anonymousreply 107February 28, 2022 6:45 PM

Sometimes Cimino looks ethereally pretty and other times he doesn’t. Sort of a two-face.

Someone needs to explain what it is about George t hat is so sexually alluring. I love Michael. I think he's hot. Mason is hot. Charlie is hot. Nico is hot. They are. And I'd be more than happy to get with anyone who looked like them. But George just makes me think of sex. Totally raw, uninhibited sex. His hotness thing is off the charts IMO. [quote]I think he was gay baiting, [R97]. Or he's lying and he's 100% gay. I don't believe that he's bi.

R98 I'm somewhat confused. Are you saying you think he's either straight (gay baiting}, or 100% gay? Why do you believe he can be either straight, or gay, but he can't be bi?

by Anonymousreply 117March 2, 2022 5:53 AM

How tall is Michael?

by Anonymousreply 118March 2, 2022 1:18 PM

R118 5' 9" - I didn't have to look it up - I remember it from one of the Love, Victor threads. Michael said it on Twitter. This info was also on one of the threads.

They finally announced officially that Nico Greetham is going to be in Season 3. He will play a guy named Nick ( how imaginative) who is Victor's friend. They meet at church. Now either our Victor is going to get with this "friend" or he is going to fix someone else up. IMO he has to fix Rahim up. The height tells me Rahim and Nico would work. I can't see him fixing Nico up with Benji. I've read somewhere the title of this episode is called "the Set Up "

by Anonymousreply 122March 4, 2022 2:40 AM

Maybe he plays a straight white boy who beats Victor to a pulp when Victor comes on to him.

by Anonymousreply 123March 5, 2022 5:20 PM

And they said it wouldn't last! 3 seasons is like 12 years to a teenager!

by Anonymousreply 124March 5, 2022 5:21 PM

I wonder what happened to Love, Victor creator Becky Albertalli's (and cowriter Adam Silvera's) attempt to get their YA gay novel What If It's Us made into a movie? This was supposed to have have happened 3 or 4 years ago but I'm not even sure it's still in development.

by Anonymousreply 125March 5, 2022 5:31 PM

It was optioned for a movie back in 2018 but that doesn't meant that it would be made. It'll still likely happen but it's most likely just been put on hold.

by Anonymousreply 126March 5, 2022 6:06 PM

I hope it end with all the gay boys bringing all the straight boys to big Gay graduation orgy at that lake house.

by Anonymousreply 127March 5, 2022 8:59 PM

R126 I wonder if it will happen now, since the book is no longer that well known, and it even seems a little dated, in its references to Hamilton and The Sims and things like that.

by Anonymousreply 128March 5, 2022 9:14 PM

R128 Movies based on books are never 100% the same. They could easily change references. They did with Love Simon.

by Anonymousreply 129March 5, 2022 9:16 PM

The finale should be like a splashy 1950s musical... Guys and Trans! The Queen and I! Bottoms Are Twitching! It'll be a gay old time!

by Anonymousreply 130March 6, 2022 4:14 PM

The next series will have a transperson as t protagonist.

by Anonymousreply 131March 6, 2022 7:02 PM

I think Nico Greetham is going to be a good addition I already like him, and I didn't like Rahim/Anthony Keyvan.

by Anonymousreply 132March 6, 2022 9:17 PM

I have to say that in general, this show's reach exceeds it's grasp. They took a bunch of really talented actors, the casting is damned near perfect, they created these characters, the producers convinced them they were doing something meaningful and important and even possibly groundbreaking, and then the writing just didn't measure up. The show could have been so much better. They let down their cast and their fans. I don't know if the writers just lack imagination, or the producers, or if they were too timid to really tell the story they promote, or if HULU pressured them to sanitize things or not go "too far" or what. But this show could have been so much better. They should have pitched this to Netflix. Disney sucks.

by Anonymousreply 133March 9, 2022 1:59 PM

I've never seen the show, are they all "queers", or do they have gay characters too?

When woke entertainment crashes and burns because not enough people care to watch it, what lesson will be learned?

by Anonymousreply 134March 9, 2022 2:08 PM

Hopefully next season delves into Benji’s T addiction and his adventures getting fisted in Mykonos/P-town/Fire Island. He’s such a gentle soul.

by Anonymousreply 135March 9, 2022 2:13 PM

R133 Hulu encouraged them to make the show more adult. The first question they asked the creators after they took over the show from Disney is when they were going to have sex.

However this is based on a family friendly movie and the writers envisioned this for the family friendly Disney. I don't think they had any desire of changing course and making it super "edgy" in the vein of a Euphoria or the Gossip Girl reboot.

by Anonymousreply 136March 9, 2022 3:20 PM

I only watched one or two episodes of the first season and felt it was "meh" but I'm clearly not the show's target audience. It's a pity it's being cancelled already because I think it's important to have shows out there for gay youth.

I know some people are saying that season two's numbers were bad, but given we have no access to streaming ratings we have no idea that's actually the case. Clearly the numbers were good enough to justify a third season. Obviously it's a business decisions (it's rare for streaming shows to go beyond three seasons these days anyways). But I do think Love Victor was a little bit of a "troubled production." It was originally supposed to be on Disney+ but shuffled too Hulu because Disney allegedly felt it was too adult, and then Hulu wanted to "steam it up" in the second season (but that got backlash from the usual group of homophobes and pearl clutchers).

by Anonymousreply 137March 9, 2022 4:01 PM

The writing was shit.

by Anonymousreply 138March 9, 2022 5:44 PM

R137, if you get a chance, ty watching season 1 & 2. I'd like your diagnosis/opinion. They each have 10 episodes and only about 30 minutes, each, so 5 hours per season.

by Anonymousreply 139March 9, 2022 5:47 PM

I quite like the show. I think the main problem is the hype around the move from Disney+ to Hulu making it look edgier than it is. Even the second season, which was produced for Hulu, was - while nice - not as edgy or explicit as advertised. Sure, the boys made out and get caught in the act by Victor's mom, but that was one scene from the whole season. The show even has the very special episode about characters considering losing their virginity and how precious it is and that it's best to wait for the right guy and the right moment.

Again, it's a nice show, but it's for teens, not for adults.

by Anonymousreply 140March 9, 2022 6:12 PM

Season 2 was better than season 1 mostly just because of the fact that season 1 was written for Disney+. Season 2 was written knowing it was going to be on Hulu so they were able to mature things up, at least a little bit.

by Anonymousreply 141March 9, 2022 6:16 PM

by Anonymousreply 147March 9, 2022 7:30 PM

Damn, all the haters came out today.

It's a cute show. I think it fulfills the demographic/narrative that this show clearly set out in its tone from episode 1. It was never meant to be Euphoria or Elite. I think season 2 was even a major improvement from season 1. Though I always felt the show should have been 40/41 minutes an episode (equivalent to an hour show with ads), and that it got a few more episodes per season to flesh things out.

by Anonymousreply 148March 10, 2022 12:54 AM

Good.

Nothing more dull than a couple of teens looking doe eyed at each other and thinking their romance is one for the ages.

I suppose the pedos enjoyed the show.

by Anonymousreply 149March 10, 2022 12:59 AM

[quote] I've never seen the show, are they all "queers", or do they have gay characters too?

Actually, they use the word 'gay' pretty much all the time. The two main characters are gay, and self-identify as such in the show.

by Anonymousreply 150March 10, 2022 1:11 AM

R149 Probably not, since it doesn't star pre-pubescent children. In fact most of the younger cast are in the 20s. Same as Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger in the mid-60s or James Dean and Liz Taylor in the mid-50s.

by Anonymousreply 151March 10, 2022 4:51 AM

The cast maybe in their 20's but they are playing teens.

The Datalounge Pedos will be quite happy.

by Anonymousreply 152March 10, 2022 8:16 AM

r22 apparently, he watched the sequels to not another gay movie.

by Anonymousreply 153March 10, 2022 8:23 AM

Victor should date an older guy.

That would add some depth to his character.

It's not like the story would be ground breaking, because Randy Harrison's "Justin" character dated Brian (10 years older) on Queer As Folk, over 20 years ago. And Justin was in high school.

They need to do something to spice up the show for season three.

by Anonymousreply 154March 10, 2022 8:27 AM

I think there should be a an immediate reboot called “Revenge, Victor,” where Victor and a cadre of Twinks travel the country hunting down and getting revenge on homophobes as a vigilante gang of rough Gay boys, living hard and on the edge. Directed by Gregg Araki. NC-17 for language, violence, nudity and sexual situations and great music, or what ever they call that warning on streaming TV.

by Anonymousreply 155March 10, 2022 9:50 AM

They should’ve saved Rahim’s introduction for this season and made a new series: Love, Rahim.

by Anonymousreply 156March 10, 2022 11:34 AM

And a porn parody called Love, Rimming.

by Anonymousreply 157March 10, 2022 11:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 159March 10, 2022 2:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 160March 12, 2022 6:02 AM

Honestly I think the limitations of the writers showed in Season 2.Season 2 got a mixed reaction from me and a couple of my friends. While I think the cast of Love Victor is hot, Mason, George, Anthony Turpel, I thought the storyline was cliched and predictable. I preferred Young Royals.

by Anonymousreply 161March 12, 2022 10:42 AM

Is Anthony Turpel a gay?

by Anonymousreply 162March 12, 2022 12:32 PM

He looks almost exactly likeone of my friends in high school who was half Italian, half Irish (i. e. white).

He has an Italian name (from his Italian-German dad) and he looks like he could be anything. He looks like a high school friend of mine who was Italian-Irish (white). Then he says he got "death threats" - like, constantly, or once? On Twitter, or what? I hope his large salary made up for the pain.(He says the threats from the LBGT community for ID-ing as straight and playing gay on TV).

Is there ever going to be an obviously gay, effeminate guy as the hero of one of these series? A guy who makes costumes for the drama club, or something? Instead of a basketball player-jock? There's no longer a gay stigma on TV but there seems to be a stigma about being "gay-acting". Does it send a great message to gay kids that they're supposed to identify with straight or straight-acting actors playing gay kids? If there's a femmy gay kid, he's a supporting character, usually.

by Anonymousreply 167March 12, 2022 1:11 PM

R167 True, to an extent. There have been a few exceptions lately, well, only one I can think of right now...not a series, but a movie. That "Everyone's Talking About Jaime" musical film that came out last year.

by Anonymousreply 168March 12, 2022 1:42 PM

R168 Yes. I thought of that. But that's about a teenager who wants to be a drag queen. I just meant the average high school gay kid, like Victor is supposed to be, only - not straight-acting. There are probably more examples, but I don't watch every TV show so I don't know. There were several gay characters on 13 Reasons Why (supporting) - the only really effeminte one was played by Tommy Dorfman (R

by Anonymousreply 169March 12, 2022 1:47 PM

(continued) ...Tommy Dorfman (Ryan Shaver). But he wasn't a very nice character.

I just wonder, after the producers have done everything to make the gay male characters on TV palatable to the straight teen girls who are the main audience for these shows - what about the gay-acting kids? Don't they get a show? Not a campy show, like Glee, or something, but a real situation that treats the main character as average and normal, facing life's everyday problems. Ther's a tendency to camp up these kids, make them the nerd best friend, or whatever. What about an attractive kid who just isn't 100% straight acting? I don't care if he's played by a gay or straight kid, just so he's represented.

by Anonymousreply 170March 12, 2022 1:55 PM

Well it seems to me that an "obviously" Gay character, are you saying one who is effeminate? Because last season Love Victor introduced Rahim, who was stereotypically Gay. He was femme, and he was into fashion, and painted his nails, and he was on Grindr. oh, and they made him a Muslim kid with traditionally Muslim parents. He had to wear something over his clothes to get out of his house. He wore a lavender suede jacket to school,. he started out as Pilar's Gay friend from school, and then he is a constant presence in Victor's house seeking "advice" on how to come out to his parents. He sings show tunes with Victor's homophobic mother and compliments her on her home decor style. He develops a crush on Victor and when he isn't advising Pilar on how to go after Felix, who is dating Lake, he is trying to pry Victor away from Benji. He is a drama queen. By the end of Season 2 he declares his love for Victor and leaves us with a cliffhanger. At first I found him likeable but he was too underhanded and I was put off by that. Also didn't like the actor Anthony Keyvan when he was doing interviews, etc.

by Anonymousreply 171March 12, 2022 3:15 PM

I honestly knew more gay boys like Rahim in my school than Victor and Benji.

by Anonymousreply 172March 12, 2022 3:20 PM

The HBOMAX series Generation had quite the flaming lead character with Justice Smith in a cast of many LGBTQ+ characters, but it only lasted one season. Which was surprising since youwoukd have thought they want to capture more of that Euphoria audience.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 173March 12, 2022 3:35 PM

R171 Yeah, I didn't mean like Rahim - I meant a romantic lead. Not necessarily into show tunes and decorating, just a kid who has some gay mannerisms as a lead, not someone who has to "tell" people he's gay or they might not suspect. I just think a lot of mainstream shows are about "straightening" gay lead characters, or characters that are supposed to be seen as sexy or attractive. It's dishonest, in a way. I'm someone who people usally assumed was straight, maybe that's why ironically I notice this trend.

I'm thinking that Rahim's storyline is going to get expanded. Like I think either he lied about how accepting his parents were, or he has accepting parents, but the Mosque they belong to is NOT accepting. He said they were devout Muslims. Some complication will arise with him in his personal life. I also think just based on what we know about Victor, he is going back to Benji. First of all, Victor hates feeling like a "loser." Benji is the hottest guy in school...according to Lake. Benji is well liked,...just like Mia was popular. And there was that thing with Victor standing on a chair announcing how really happy he was with Benji. Second, if Benji rejects him because he acted like an asshole, then he is going to mope around until he can figure out a way to at least make peace with Benji. He can't stand anyone not liking him. I think Nico Greetham's character will play a role. He is described as "Victor's friend from church."

by Anonymousreply 178March 14, 2022 4:52 PM

Oh, fuck. If the showrunners want to get cute, they will film 2 different endings and the fans can choose the one they want.

by Anonymousreply 179March 14, 2022 4:53 PM

[quote] Does it send a great message to gay kids that they're supposed to identify with straight or straight-acting actors playing gay kids?

Grandpa this is 2022 not 1974. There are plenty of masculine gays out. The last 2 years alone, many professional football players came out. No one cares about the minority of flaming queens.

Masculinity has nothing to do with sexual orientation. You're an old homophobic queen.

by Anonymousreply 180March 14, 2022 6:03 PM

Look. The main theme of Season 3, is Victor is LOVED. Victor's Momma loves him, his father loves him, his sister Pilar loves him and his baby gayling brother, Adrian loves him. (WTF kind of name is that?) His BFF Felix loves him, the basketball team loves him, Mia loves him, Benji loves him, and Rahim loves him. Benji's mother loves him. Victor...is LOVED. That's it. That's the plot.

by Anonymousreply 181March 16, 2022 2:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 182March 16, 2022 2:56 PM

Does all this love end up with a basket ball team orgy with Charlie Hall as the main alpha? Then I’m here for it?

by Anonymousreply 183March 16, 2022 2:59 PM

I don't have any real problem with TV shows that so often focus on the problems of minorities, immigrants, etc. - and social problems, social justice - but it's beginning to have a sameness. A show could be set in a white rural area in 1974 and they still would have to find a way to cast black, Asian, Latinx people - somehow. It seems like pandering at those times, and it also presents an ahistorical picture.

by Anonymousreply 184March 16, 2022 3:07 PM

R184, since for years we have seen TV series set in Bumfuck or WTF ever, and they have been consistently "whitewashed" as a matter of policy by the networks, the studios who produced them and even the FCC, I don't mind at all seeing better representation. Here's an example: Did you know that Patton's army was comprised of Black soldiers? Not the entire army, but several divisions and they weren't gravediggers? The 761 tank battalion, known as the Black Panthers, in 1944 and the 1945 the 784th. They eventually fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Of course if you watched "Patton" starring George C. Scott, the only hint you would have gotten is the opening speech by his character. They were erased. In fact POC have been so thoroughly and consistently erased, that what you are now seeing is not fabrication but correction. Black people have always existed in America. Since the 1600's. Actually 1619. And of course Native Americans lived here. And the Asian Americans and Latinos were bought here as cheap labor . So get used to the corrections. Many of them are more historically accurate than you realize.

R185 Thanks for telling me a lot of stuff I already knew, but yeah it's fine as long as it's realistic. But every single show having a racial mix even if it's not likely in the region or era is erasing reality and replacing it with wishful thinking or just bowing to pressure from SJWs.

by Anonymousreply 190March 17, 2022 6:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 191March 17, 2022 7:00 PM

R188, OMG me too. I hate her! If she thinks her bullshit apology at the end made any difference she'd be wrong. It was half hearted anyway. What a fucking bitch. And that little speech she made to Victor outside the Gay Bar ? Please. Look. IMO she hated Benji because she believed Benji had influence over Victor and it was a power thing competition. She was shitty to Mia at first too, but the homophobia on steroids was unbelievable with Benji. She couldn't even share a meal. She gagged on her nachos. LOL!.

by Anonymousreply 192March 17, 2022 9:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 195March 17, 2022 11:58 PM

I think Nico Greetham is going to end up with Rahim. I think Victor is going to tell Rahim he doesn't like him "that way" and he will spend several episodes alone, trying to get Benji back. Nico, his "friend from church" will counsel him and they will hang out together, Nico, Rahim, and Victor, and finally Benji will give in and take Victor back, once Victor realizes what an asshole he has been and stats behaving. Victor's Mother will have her hands full dealing with Felix wanting to fuck her daughter.

by Anonymousreply 196March 18, 2022 2:37 PM

We know how this is going to end. Ever since the main writer of a show about a closeted gay jock turned the series into a pity party for fem gays and their traumas. Let's hope we get to see Bebe Wood lez out with the other chick and Anthony Turpel, she's the most interesting character and actor in the show after Victor's family. They deserve a better story.

by Anonymousreply 197March 18, 2022 6:16 PM

It really shows the age of posters here when they're getting so upset with Victor's mom. She acted like most of my Latino relatives when they deal with gay issues. It's hardly traumatic, maybe you should find some therapy, the world today is not that of your 1950s mother. That was actually the only realistic thing going on with this show. She apologized and moved on and is learning in silence.

by Anonymousreply 198March 18, 2022 6:20 PM

R198 So what exactly are you saying? That was confusing.

by Anonymousreply 199March 18, 2022 6:43 PM

Victor is a little whore!!!

by Anonymousreply 200March 18, 2022 7:05 PM

R198. Some of us had experiences leading up to and after coming out, that were traumatizing, and we did get therapy in many cases, and seeing some of that acted out in this series was definitely triggering. WTF are you to say "move on" and tell us about our "1950's mother." It was the late 1970's for me, and my mother was not Latino. She was of Greek descent. But Whatever. It was not only our mothers. It was the mothers of the guys we dated, or maybe it was another relative.

I had a friend who's mother's sister was a monster. Abusive, cruel, just mean. And she singled him out from the time he was 5 years old.. It affected him well into his 40's. They were Irish. And not all Latinos are like Isabel. In fact in this day in 2022, most aren't. You can attempt to delegitimize our reaction, minimize it, dismiss it, mock it. You can attempt to marginalize and trivialize, but our reactions belong to us. They are part of our life experiences. Whether you chose to recognize them or not doesn't make them any less real to us. You seem very callous.

They should have made him bi, with a pretty girl bff who secretly loves him.

by Anonymousreply 208March 26, 2022 9:13 PM

Oh, hell yes, R206 ! He has graduated. No more high school roles. Baby boy is looking fine.

by Anonymousreply 209March 26, 2022 9:51 PM

I would be surprised if Michael has much of a career post-Victor. Cute, pleasant, not a great actor. He has about two and a half facial expressions. He'll probably always work and make good money, because it seems that's how it is once you get your foot in the door, and star in a series. But like so many of these TV twinks, not an exciting actor and probably no great future.

by Anonymousreply 210March 26, 2022 10:34 PM

R210, I'm not so sure. First of all, Michael is smart, and he is really ambitious. He was also recently signed by CAA. The directors of the various episodes and the showrunners really like him. A lot. He projects as an amiable, big hearted, intelligent guy, very cooperative, easy to get along with, and good with other cast members. He networks like a pro, and supports other actors on social media. He makes it a point to be friends with the directors, and the casting people, etc. So he is always going to do well. And the thing is, with so many platforms doing episodic TV and feature films, and the fact he is Latino? Shit. I predict that Michael and Mason Gooding will break out . Mason has a lot more talent and he is older so he is going to go the distance...and he and Michael are BFFs. They look out for one another.

by Anonymousreply 211March 26, 2022 11:21 PM

How could you possibly know all that, R211?

by Anonymousreply 212March 26, 2022 11:35 PM

When will Season 3 be available?

by Anonymousreply 213May 12, 2022 2:06 AM

R213 June 15th on Hulu and Disney+

by Anonymousreply 214May 12, 2022 2:09 AM

white gays are so privileged because their liberal parents accept them... they can never understand what it's like to be gay and have real problems.

they're teaching us so much.

by Anonymousreply 215May 12, 2022 2:27 AM

R212, I follow both of them on Instagram. It's not rocket science.

by Anonymousreply 216May 12, 2022 3:14 AM

Having most of the gay cast get HIV in the final season is bizarre. Is this set in the pre-PREP era or something? This choice is not doing what they think it is in terms of honoring people living with the disease or raising awareness of risk. The murder plot is also out of the blue and tonally off for this show.

by Anonymousreply 217May 12, 2022 5:03 AM

This is the final season. Fine I get it. But why do shows do that? Love Victor has a shortened season of only 8 episodes this year. The first two seasons had ten episodes. Don't tell me they couldn't have extended the story for two more episodes. I feel cheated.

by Anonymousreply 222May 12, 2022 12:31 PM

If this leads to more gay shows I'll be happy. It probably be easier to write a show about college aged gays though.

by Anonymousreply 223May 12, 2022 12:45 PM

Maybe they are developing a show about college Gays..

by Anonymousreply 224May 12, 2022 1:13 PM

This guy seems gayer than a sequined Bob Mackie butt plug!

by Anonymousreply 225May 12, 2022 4:04 PM

R224 I think they should. Make like Undressed or Greek (which both had gays) where it's a campy comedy-drama. High school settings are difficult because gay teens even if they are open don't usually date until their college years and up. You'll probably see more teen girls in lesbian relationships since so many claim bisexual. But gay boys have a narrow dating pool especially if they live in suburbia. That's unfortunately why so many are on hookup apps and preyed on by creepy chicken hawks.

by Anonymousreply 226May 12, 2022 4:43 PM

He has the most beautiful smile.

At the end of the clip at R220, I just melt.

by Anonymousreply 227May 12, 2022 6:03 PM

He seems like a happy kid. I think he's 22?

by Anonymousreply 228May 13, 2022 1:19 AM

A Latin twink is the hottest gay accessory this year. Cimino will land a hot producer boyfriend in no time.

by Anonymousreply 229May 13, 2022 2:06 AM

He's not a twink. IMO

by Anonymousreply 230May 13, 2022 3:19 AM

Cimino is definitely a twink.

by Anonymousreply 231May 13, 2022 11:11 PM

And he's only half Latin.

[quote]Cimino was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father is of Italian-German ancestry and his mother is of Puerto Rican descent. Cimino faced racism through elementary school, saying children would throw him on the floor and kick him, and claim he ate bugs, though he says those experiences made him more compassionate towards others.

I don't get why he would experience racism. In the 2000s. For looking, at most, Italian. I think he made this up.

by Anonymousreply 232May 18, 2022 7:49 AM

I had no clue he was half Italian-German. I figured he was full Latino, or some blend of, as he does look it. So bullying as a kid doesn't seem out of the question.

by Anonymousreply 233May 18, 2022 11:09 AM

Saw a picture of him with his father. Daddy is not bad looking either.

Who are we to question whether he was bullied as a kid? And if he was in a school with few minority kids? In las Vegas? Shit. Yeah , he'd get picked on.

by Anonymousreply 234May 19, 2022 12:49 AM

R233 Vegas is basically half white half hispanic, so I don't know why Michael would get singled out by white children to bully, but maybe there needs to be more background.

Cimino is usually an Italian surname. It means spice dealer (cumin in Italian is cumino).

Maybe the Becky Albertalli teen boy romcom factory is slowing down, finally.

by Anonymousreply 241May 21, 2022 4:16 AM

OK. I have checked. Love, Victor was a hit both Season 1 & Season 2. So shortening it and ending it after 3 seasons seems like it was a producers' decision not Hulu's. I have to say the producers seemed more engaged and enthused for how I Met Your Father than they were for Victor, and maybe they got tired of the Gay Teens in High School genre. Maybe the actors wanted too much money? But the show wasn't cancelled for lack of viewers. So if anyone has more enlightened speculation o knows how things work I'd appreciate your insight.

by Anonymousreply 242May 21, 2022 1:38 PM

Maybe they want to end it before the "teens" start to look even older than they already do.

by Anonymousreply 243May 21, 2022 1:46 PM

Possibly, but they keep introducing new characters and there have been other high school dramas that made it though 5-6 years, so I was thinking this one was going to be around for 4 years or 5. Ending it after 3 was surprising but what surprised me most is that they cut it to 8 episodes instead of ten. I wonder if the writers had anything to do with it? Do writers even have any clout in a TV series? They seem to be a dime a dozen, easily replaced.

by Anonymousreply 244May 21, 2022 2:07 PM

[quote]I just think a lot of mainstream shows are about "straightening" gay lead characters, or characters that are supposed to be seen as sexy or attractive. It's dishonest, in a way. I'm someone who people usally assumed was straight, maybe that's why ironically I notice this trend.

I am not going to read the entire thread just to see if someone already responded. BUT wasn't the main character in Love Simon EXACTLY what you are describing. Simon didn't play any sports. He wasn't a flaming queen either. Or are you specifically talking about a show with a character like this? I think you are jumping the gun. We JUST got over "do all gays have to be like Jack from Will and Grace? We can act straight, be the jock sometimes..." dilemma just maybe five years ago. We are just being shown in the media as possible looking exactly like hetero people just to let the world know we are everywhere. I don't think we are ready to give that up just yet.

by Anonymousreply 245May 21, 2022 5:31 PM

R245 Ok, I'm just stating my reaction. Maybe it's not everyone's.

[quote]We JUST got over "do all gays have to be like Jack from Will and Grace? We can act straight, be the jock sometimes..."

Obviously not all gays have to be like Jack, because on the very same show there's Will.

by Anonymousreply 246May 21, 2022 5:34 PM

More shows need to end while fans want more, not after grinding a well-liked shows into the dirt.

Shows like Love, Victor really only have about three seasons of worthwhile stories in them. Same with other teen shows like 13 Reasons.

The economics of streaming make it more possible for shows to have a limited run of a few seasons than network broadcast shows. As a matter of fact, the economics of shows makes shorter runs of 3-4 seasons the sweet spot.

Personally, I like the idea of limited run series with a set end point so that stories are better constructed and given a real payoff climax.

by Anonymousreply 247May 21, 2022 5:36 PM

I don't mind when a series ends after a small amount of seasons, as long as the writers are aware and are able to write a good ending.

by Anonymousreply 248May 21, 2022 5:38 PM

Most teen shows last three to four seasons especially if set in high school. If they do continue them they usually move them to college.

by Anonymousreply 249May 21, 2022 5:39 PM

Well yeah they can't stay in high school forver and do you really want to see Victor cruising for rough trade on the streets of Miami where he moves to start his internet porn business to pay for his college education?

by Anonymousreply 250May 21, 2022 5:48 PM

Yeah. Yeah I want to see that r250.

by Anonymousreply 251May 21, 2022 5:51 PM

[quote]Yeah. Yeah I want to see that [R250].

Yeah, so do I.

by Anonymousreply 252May 21, 2022 5:53 PM

Well so do I, actually. Now if I could just get them to hire us to write that.

by Anonymousreply 253May 21, 2022 6:03 PM

With Love Victor, even in this shorter final season they have new storylines that could have been developed and the characters given more time. So like, there's a band new lesbian couple formed by the ex girlfriends of two of the male characters. The main character's younger sister starts a new relationship with the BFF of the Main. One character is on a quest to find their mother. Her father has a new wife and new baby. The main character is trying to win back his first love even as his mother tries to hook him up with someone totally new. I mean this is a fucking soap opera. but the point is introducing new storylines in this final shorter season seems stupid and rushed. So the fact that this is the final season is very puzzling to me.

by Anonymousreply 254May 21, 2022 6:08 PM

It could pull a One Tree Hill and do a time-skip.

by Anonymousreply 255May 21, 2022 6:09 PM

What is Nico Greetham playing on this season?

by Anonymousreply 256May 21, 2022 6:30 PM

A guy that Victor's mom is trying to set him up with R256

by Anonymousreply 257May 21, 2022 6:32 PM

R257 Ok, thanks!

by Anonymousreply 258May 21, 2022 6:34 PM

Nico is some hot guy Victor's mother finds and introduces him to Victor. He goes to their church. He looks like a player in the trailer.. BTW: Indie Wire's review says Victor gets an STD in Season 3. From fucking around, while Benji is at rehab or something. Poor Benji! They've turned his fine ass into some sad emotional cripple. Now I would much rather have seen the older more experienced Benji getting it on with Nico.

by Anonymousreply 259May 21, 2022 6:37 PM

Too late to do a good HIV storyline. Probably just herpes.

by Anonymousreply 260May 21, 2022 6:38 PM

So does Victor ironically get the STD from "nice church boy, Mom's choice" Nico G?

by Anonymousreply 261May 21, 2022 6:42 PM

I was think crabs. Fucking outdoors will do that. It would be kind of funny and still get the point across. I can't imagine Victor not using a condom. But yeah, herpes. LOL!

by Anonymousreply 262May 21, 2022 6:44 PM

Are crabs (or lice) considered STDs? Or just parasites? That might help narrow it down if we knew they're calling it an STD.

by Anonymousreply 263May 21, 2022 6:47 PM

Yes, pubic lice is considered an STD.

by Anonymousreply 264May 21, 2022 6:52 PM

Ok but how are parasites a "disease"?

by Anonymousreply 265May 21, 2022 6:57 PM

[R26] I don't know where you live but here in LA almost every 18 year old kid looks/dresses like Michael. That's what I like about living here. The lines have been "blurred" for awhile now.

by Anonymousreply 266May 21, 2022 6:57 PM

R266 I didn't think R26 was talking about how Michael looks or dresses - what's unusual about it? Maybe I'm wrong but I took it to mean he comes across as fem/gay in mannerisms or behavior.

by Anonymousreply 267May 21, 2022 7:40 PM

I wonder if he's Bi? All the pics he posts on IG are mostly with guys. Out, Gay guys. He posts some with girls he has worked with in Senior Year. But at least one of them is Lesbian. Oh and he has at least four dogs. Pit bulls, and a cat he loves to cuddle.

by Anonymousreply 268May 21, 2022 9:06 PM

Does it seem like all these box-checking "wokertainment" shows are drawing audiences too small to be worth the bother?

"Pose", for all the noise it generated was only 25 episodes, and even by then had completely worn out its welcome and our last nerve!

by Anonymousreply 269May 21, 2022 11:09 PM

The flavor of the month appears to be Heartstopper which just got renewed for two more season, and honestly it is so childish, while I was glad to see a show about coming out aimed at junior high and high schoolers, basically the demo would be 13 -16, I don't see what the excitement was. There is only one actor that's appealing to older kids, and he's the villain. The leads are like, baby gaylings.

I like Love, Victor because the guys are genuinely attractive and in real life they're over 21 and I can crush on them. Mason, George, Anthony Keyvan and Michael are all hot. So is Julia Louis Dreyfus's kid, Charlie Hall.

Now that Indie Wire is reporting Victor contacts an STD in Season 3, the Reddit loons are insisting that he doesn't get it from hooking up with Nico Greetham, but maybe thru random hook ups. Why? Because they insist Victor won't have sex with Nico. He's too conscience stricken and missing Benji, the guy who took his virginity. These are the same people who felt there was "too much sex" in Season 2, and others who said Victor and Benji were "making out" but never had sex. Sweet Jesus!

by Anonymousreply 273May 22, 2022 2:52 AM

Why do we always have to get reports on what people on other threads think - and they're always crazies, loons and fraus, so why do you listen to them? If I want to know what they think I can go to Reddit myself.

by Anonymousreply 274May 28, 2022 6:36 PM

Michael said there's a LOT more sex in Season 3.

by Anonymousreply 276May 29, 2022 4:08 AM

I agee, R 276. They keep shoe honing new chaactes into the show and playing musical chais with elationships, so they could have kept it going fo anothe yea o two. I was hoping for 4- 5 years after Season 1. I really enjoyed it. Then Season 2 was great until the middle when it went off the rails because the writers felt like they needed more drama. They actually said, happy love stories weren't interesting.

by Anonymousreply 277May 29, 2022 2:18 PM

I follow him on Instagram and he has been working out, bulking up weight training etc, to get ready for this season. If you look at pictures of him from Season1 and then Season 2, you can see he's bulked up in Season 2, and this season even more.

by Anonymousreply 287June 2, 2022 1:48 PM

R287 I follow him on Instagram and he has been working out, bulking up weight training etc, to get ready for this season. If you look at pictures of him from Season1 and then Season 2, you can see he's bulked up in Season 2, and this season even more.

Why? Is he playing a pro boxer this season? Why does he need to bulk up "to get ready for this season"?

by Anonymousreply 288June 2, 2022 3:27 PM

No, R288, I think in Season 1 he was extremely slender and looked young. His character turned 16 in Season 1. But in Season 2 he seemed a bit bigger, and this season he was working out. Not super muscular, but he has definition. Looks real good. He also said there was going to be more sex in Season 3. So maybe he didn't like how he looked in Season 2 with his shirt off.

by Anonymousreply 289June 2, 2022 3:34 PM

Heartstopper is far too neutered for me, I agree as well. Teen boys are horny! Be realistic.

by Anonymousreply 293June 2, 2022 4:28 PM

I thought the same about the Heartstopper graphics novels -- they are making out all the time and making out leads to erections which leads to something.... anything! But not in their chaste little chaste world.

by Anonymousreply 294June 2, 2022 10:15 PM

It sucked glad it’s over

by Anonymousreply 295June 2, 2022 11:39 PM

I can think of at least two scenes in Season 2 of LV when they were kissing and Geoge/Benji's hands went for the gold. Did not waste time. IMO they defintely acted like normal horny teenagers. Especially in the 16-17 yr old range. And they had chemistry. Even when they weren't being sexual they were sexual.

by Anonymousreply 296June 3, 2022 2:26 AM

As a teenager, I was pretty good looking and had a lot of attention, but I was still awkward, inhibited, shy, and nervous about intimacy. Sometimes kissing was just kissing. Not every kid at 16 is ready to jump into bed. I think TV is very unrealistic in that regard and sets kids up for letdowns with all the unreal expectations.

by Anonymousreply 297June 3, 2022 2:42 AM

I don't know many 16-18 year olds they aren't willing to get below the belt with the person they are dating r297. When I was in high school it was always the guy that was willing but had to wait til the girl gave it the okay.

With two gay guys, can't really see the heart stopper scenario of let's just kiss and hold hands forever. Seems neutered rather than being real people.

by Anonymousreply 298June 3, 2022 2:50 AM

Who's talking about jumping in bed. I'm talking about your dick getting hard. Jacking off together or jacking each other off and escalating to blow jobs would be the natural progression. I remember in Episode 4 of Season 2, Victor was really anxious about fucking. He really froze up at the prospect of going all the way, by the end of the episode they did the "I love you" thing and Victor topped Benji.

by Anonymousreply 299June 3, 2022 2:53 AM

AND then Benji topped Victor (an even bigger step for Victor who was a bottom virgin)!

by Anonymousreply 300June 3, 2022 3:46 AM

R300 I don't remember that, was it in the same episode?

by Anonymousreply 301June 3, 2022 2:58 PM

Not same episode. Victor's mom walked in when Victor was bottomimg.

by Anonymousreply 302June 3, 2022 3:21 PM

Brief scene at the end of Episode 7 until Mama came in, and then the more complete scene at the beginning of episode 8...until Mama came in. God I hated her in Episode 8 almost as much as I hated her in Episode 1. In 8, Benji and Victor undressed one another and got busy. It was beautiful!. No love talk, just sex. The look on Victor's face as he wrapped his arms around Benji is unforgettable. Bliss. And the fulll shot that we and Mama saw Victor had his knees in just the right position!

For $20 you can see them all live, in peson at Outfest today in L.A. They'll be doing an outfont with a sneak showing of Episode 1 of Season 3, then answering questions. Both Geoge and Michael with a few other cast members and showunners. I'd like to go just to see if They look as good in person. But I don't live on that coast.

by Anonymousreply 310June 4, 2022 1:31 PM

R310 What's an outfont? I imagine it would be something in cursive, with a lot of curlicues.

by Anonymousreply 311June 4, 2022 7:44 PM

So Outfest is having their Out Fronts this weekend, and they apparently screened the first episode of LV, and then had the actors come on for a Q & A and Michael couldn't get there so he was on Video Zoom or Whatever. And he blew the ending to the whole series. Spoiler. I guess he didn't care since this is the end. George was there and he looked delcious.

I guess I am a loser of a fanboy because only just yesterday I found out that George is English.

by Anonymousreply 322June 13, 2022 10:33 PM

Cimino was on Kelly & Ryan the other day. I think Ry Ry creamed his jeans.

by Anonymousreply 323June 13, 2022 11:55 PM

Michael is wearing earrings and longer hair. I also saw a video of him with George doing an interview on You Tube, and George seems stoned. I love him. The interviewer asks Michael some random, " What would you have liked to see happen at the end?," And Michael said something like "Well you don't need someone else to complete you. They can be part of your journey..." blah blah blah, and George gave him this slow smile, and said, "Aww, you're breaking my heart. They'll be together forever! ." So the interviewer asked George, and he said, "Well maybe another dance number?" I think they're friends in real life, at least they have both said so, and they seem to know just how to mess with one another, but I gotta say, they make a great couple. The casting people did a great job, no? What ever. Victor get an STD I think from going out with Nico Greetham. In fact, Victor gets his own Grindr account.

by Anonymousreply 330June 15, 2022 8:44 AM

Actually, there was no fist in the first episode. But I still loved it.

by Anonymousreply 331June 15, 2022 8:45 AM

Victor is such a slut

by Anonymousreply 332June 15, 2022 12:18 PM

Nico was the slut, but Victor sure went for it! I really enjoyed the entire season. It went fast too. Eight short episodes. I binged it and it almost felt like a feature length movie with a lot of commercials. I thought it was pretty honest, too for a TV series. I've known guys like Nick, just not as hot. They sort of redeemed ahim, too. I like him.

by Anonymousreply 333June 15, 2022 3:56 PM

That was bullshit. The season was so short, it’s an insult to fans. It really needed more episodes.

I wanted to see more of Rahim and Connor. Rahim was the most interesting character. Also Liam and Nick. We really didn’t get to see enough of Liam.

by Anonymousreply 334June 15, 2022 5:32 PM

When Rahim told those homophobes off, while boring Victor just stood there, best part of the season.

by Anonymousreply 335June 15, 2022 5:45 PM

People finished already, you guys must not have jobs.

by Anonymousreply 336June 15, 2022 6:06 PM

R336

It only takes less than 4 hours to finish the season. Ridiculously short.

by Anonymousreply 337June 15, 2022 6:20 PM

Rahim really is a lot more interesting than Victor and not just cause he is more flamboyant. I liked the backstory scenes for Benji but those should've probably happened in season 2.

by Anonymousreply 338June 15, 2022 7:11 PM

The ending was just too predictable.

by Anonymousreply 339June 15, 2022 7:24 PM

R339 it really was as "cookie cutter" of an ending as they could make it. But that's the kind of show it is. I knew it would be quite predictable.

by Anonymousreply 340June 15, 2022 7:26 PM

Loved it! It was a pretty perfect conclusion for the series. Sure, it had a saccharine Hollywood ending but the whole series has always been very Hollywood and, heck, why not a cheesy happy ending for once?

I thought that all the gay characters were fun this season. Rahim became much more than an obstacle for Victor and Benji (like in Season 2), and the scene with him dressing down the homophobes was fun. I also liked him together with Connor. Nick actually turned out to be quite sweet in the end.

by Anonymousreply 341June 15, 2022 7:40 PM

I’ve never followed the actors from this show. But stumbled on Michaels Instagram. Is he out already or is his latest post him coming out? Or am I just misreading?

by Anonymousreply 342June 15, 2022 8:39 PM

No where in that rambling post does he say likes cock r342.

by Anonymousreply 343June 15, 2022 9:52 PM

I never knew how to accept myself or be brave. & there were so many themes happening in Victors life at the same time as mine.

Given that the majority of his storyline is a coming out & accepting yourself one, are those comments not a bit suggestive of something?

by Anonymousreply 344June 15, 2022 10:02 PM

Michael is definitely an ally, but he is straight. He has a shit ton of Gay friends he is genuinely close to, but he is not Gay. The same for George. Very close friends who are Gay and he is an ally, but he is straight.

by Anonymousreply 345June 15, 2022 10:03 PM

My gay niece recommended it. Confess that I eye rolled the first couple of episodes but it grew on me. Michael Cimino reminds me for my first boy crush in school. He's adorable. It's just a Dawson's Creek redux. Think in these perilous times for LGBT youth it may help some gayling in Bumfuck red state to feel less suicidal. Even us jaded eldergays can admit that's a good thing.

by Anonymousreply 346June 15, 2022 10:49 PM

I mean it's basically a given that a twenty something living in the big city (and especially working in the entertainment industry) is going to be an "ally". I means it's 2022, that's a low bar. Can't give out brownie points for that like you did back in the day when it wasn't so easy.

by Anonymousreply 347June 15, 2022 11:29 PM

I need Victor in me badly.

by Anonymousreply 348June 16, 2022 12:16 AM

There aren't any young gay actors? Is that why two straight actors had to play the leads?

by Anonymousreply 349June 16, 2022 12:28 AM

I'm fine with adult gay roles being played primarily by gay actors, but there should be some leeway when it comes to younger roles. Not everyone is out at that age and you can't really ask that at an audition. You can, however, put out an informal casting call for out gay actors, like RTD did for It's a Sin. But that's a new practice that's not widespread yet.

In any case, this is an ongoing discussion in the Tom Hanks thread.

by Anonymousreply 355June 16, 2022 4:39 AM

[quote]Not everyone is out at that age and you can't really ask that at an audition

I'm not sure what age you think "everyone" is out at. Also one would think the producers could ask known young gay actors to audition, or in some cases, just cast them.

r356 Gosh, you're tiresome. Create a new thread to discuss that aspect of the show then, stop bumming everyone out in this one.

by Anonymousreply 366June 16, 2022 10:37 AM

It was a juicy season and as good as the previous two. A wholesome show that I might rewatch in the future. It really is a time capsule in a way since it in no way deals with gender issues, so it would definitely have looked different if it started airing today.

Rahim got the best storylines and like someone else mentioned, I'm glad he wasn't just there as a foil to the main guys, but had his own life this season. Connor is such a cutie, we needed two more episodes showing us their great chemistry together!

So glad they didn't make Felix' mom relapse, that would have been such a trope and that boy's been through enough already.

by Anonymousreply 367June 16, 2022 10:44 AM

This show did the thing I can't stand the most.

When Victor's parents set him up with the son of the new friends from church, the show acknowledged (thankfully) that just because they're both gay doesn't mean that they're a good match. You'd never assume that just because two people are straight that you should set them up. That was a good setup and the blond guy, Nick, was hot, so all good.

However, when Nick decides he wants to date, he then hooks up with that obnoxious dork. Here's where I have a problem. There is NO way a dork like that would snag someone as hot as Nick. Nick had many hot guys he was hooking up with, so it's not like he was desperate to find someone. I could see if he was inexperienced and the whole gay thing was new. But, the boy has already been around the block, several times. If he wanted to date someone and get serious, he'd find someone a LOT hotter and more importantly way less obnoxious.

by Anonymousreply 368June 16, 2022 12:53 PM

R366 "Gosh, you're tiresome" - what are you, Rita Johnson in The Major And The Minor? Only on DL would you get to hear someone say gosh and tiresome in a sentence in 2022 and it's not meant as parody.

by Anonymousreply 369June 16, 2022 2:27 PM

R368, you may not agree personally, but Victor was firmly established as hot jock in season 1 and 2. All the gay boys kinda fall for him, so it's not surprising that Nick would do so as well.

Also, Nick wasn't that hot. The actor looked too old already (and will look even older soon). Besides, Victor probably already had the approval of Nick's parents (since they were in on the blind date as well), and Nick and Victor share similar interests (e.g., church), so it makes sense.

R368, in what universe is Nick hot??

by Anonymousreply 371June 16, 2022 3:40 PM

Look. I knew a few Nicks. One in paticular liked the guys he could "break in." And honestly, Victor blew him off. It pobably didn't happen often. So he decided to come with the flowers and the dinner date. It was probably an ego thing. Plus he found Victor attactive, enthusiastic, willing. Shit, if a supermarket bouquet and a dinner date gets him in the back seat, great. I think Nick wanted to try to be less of a whore. But the thing about guys like Nick, is they can't be with just one guy. They get restless. He would eventuallly cheat. So he is fine as long as you know that, and it also gives you permission not to be monogamous. Nick was sort of honest. At lleast he told Victor he was seeing othe guys and peferred casual hook ups. Look, at 17 you got guys like Nick, guys like Rahim, and guys like Victor. Whatever.

by Anonymousreply 372June 16, 2022 4:41 PM

[quote]you may not agree personally, but Victor was firmly established as hot jock in season 1 and 2. All the gay boys kinda fall for him, so it's not surprising that Nick would do so as well.

No, I'm fine with his hooking up with Victor. Victor is cute.

It's the guy that he and Felix had to do the project with. After the award speech, Nick and Victor broke up. As Nick was walking away, there was a setup between Nick and the dork. Later, they were clearly supposed to be into each other and chatting.

Also, Nick is clearly hot.

Nico/Nick is totally hot.

This was a pleasant little show. I’ll miss it.

Do we think Michael will have a career? He’s sure pretty.

by Anonymousreply 375June 17, 2022 12:46 AM

Nico Greetham has a very hot body of course, but if we are judging on the natural beauty in his face he is an average guy. But those abs make them one of the hot guys at any gay party.

He does look older though, that his character is supposed to be 17 was laughable.

Still I am mainly happy that they brought in a gay actor. This cast has always been awkwardly very straight which isn't the best look.

by Anonymousreply 376June 17, 2022 1:25 AM

OK, While I love the characters, and the actors who created them, I thought Season 3 was a shit mess. This article in Collider really sums up everything wong with the Series. And I happen to agree with it.

I wouldn't mind seeing another season named Love, XYZ with Victor taking the Simon role for another younger student a few years later when Victor is in college. It would also provide an epilogue for Benji/Victor as Love, Victor provided for Simon and his bf.

r346 while portraing race through a lens of antiquated steretoypes...

by Anonymousreply 381June 17, 2022 10:23 AM

Rahim and Liam were the only ones actually like the gay boys I knew of in school.

by Anonymousreply 382June 17, 2022 12:17 PM

THee was a geat scene in LV, Season 3, where Victor and Nick, and Rahim and his new boyfriend went out to dinner. Rahim had this bright blue, flashy jacket on, and while they were in the restauant he noticed two gross looking straight guys gossiping about them and laughing. Clealy not Gay friendly. After dinner, Rahim and Victor walked out first, and the two nasties were hanging aound making comments. So Rahim confronted them and insulted them beautifully and told them off. Victor was like a deer in headlights. Clueless. Then Nick and Rahim's boyfriend joined them, asking what's going on here, is there a problem, and the four Gays sort of stood there ready to get into it. So the two Nasties, suddenly out numbered, left claiming it "wasn't worth it" to fight the Gays. After the incident, Rahim gave Victor a lesson. He said Victor had the option of being Gay when he chose to, but Rahim got picked on and fought that shit all the time. For him it wasn't a choice. He was pointing out that staight acting Gays were not noticed or bothered nealry as much as Gays like him. He said being "out and proud" wasn't really a choice fo him. It was a really good moment.

by Anonymousreply 383June 17, 2022 2:48 PM

Looks like Nico is in NYC with Victor. Nico is friends with Kai Gerber, Cindy Crawford's daughter and she is going to be in some Apple TV series with Laura Dern. Rumor is that Michael also got a part in it. He is an ace when it comes to networking. And he has an agent, CAA so they'll keep him busy. But Michael is always trading up with friends. He is very ambitious. He is generous and kind and supportive with a wide circle of people. Always willing to do a favor. But there are certain people like Mason Gooding jr. who he is really close to and he is protective of those relationships. It looks like he and Nico have become friends. Joshua robert Colley is close to Michael too and he is a good friend of Nico's. All you have to do is follow them on Instagram and over time you can connect the dots. I think Nico is sexually fluid and leaning Gay. At the very least.

R413 Yeah I know but the headline is very misleading.

by Anonymousreply 414June 18, 2022 2:59 PM

Michael and George have great chemistry, but I fear George won't do as well careerwise as Michael will. Michael has hustle. He works at it. Networks, etc. He has CAA out here and he seems like he will push them. George seems like a low key depressive pothead who doesn't have much presence or social media. If you find him it's because he is on someone else's feed. I think the two break outs will be Mason Gooding and Michael Cimino. Not saying eveyone else will disappear. They won't. But those two are the biggest new thing to happen as a result of this. Mason is also in Scream.

by Anonymousreply 415June 19, 2022 12:03 AM

Mason is absolutely beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 416June 19, 2022 1:10 AM

Mason is Cuba Gooding Jr's son, so he has a bit of a cushion in terms of connections.

by Anonymousreply 417June 19, 2022 2:16 AM

Mason did a lot with a very small role in the scheme of things. His character has personality and depth. I loved Andrew the jock. And yes, Mason is hot. In season 3 his job was to support Mia, his girlfriend, who was going though a lot of shit. He had some scenes where he really stepped up. Mia's boyfriend Andrew drives her to see the mother who deserted her five years ago when she was 11 - 12 ys old. Her mothe is a successful artist. She shows at galleries all over the world. So Mia and her mother meet up at a house party and Mama gives her hugs and gushes all over her and through all the bullshit, Andrew is sitting on the sofa next to Mia,, watching this performance and seething. He interjects some comments enough to let Mama know he sees through her. She is very selfish. And very superficial. It was a good scene and Mason and Rachel Hilson who played Mia did a great job. Kind of sad too.

by Anonymousreply 418June 19, 2022 3:05 AM

[quote]And very superficial. It was a good scene and Mason and Rachel Hilson who played Mia did a great job. Kind of sad too.

I like the actress who played Mia, Rachel Hilson. I haven't seen her in any interviews, so have no opinion on whether she's insufferable.

But, I can see her as being the cost effective option for Amandla Stenberg (Rue from Hunger Games - who is insufferable) or Yara Shahidi (the daughter from Blackish who got her own spinoff).

by Anonymousreply 419June 19, 2022 1:10 PM

Benji was an asshole this season, just like last season. Victor was too good for that asshole. He shouldn't even be in a relationship. He should focus on fixing himself first, not bringing an innocent like Victor into his mess. Victor had more chemistry with Nick and it was a much healthier relationship as well (after they got past the hook-up phase that is).

by Anonymousreply 420June 19, 2022 1:18 PM

R420

I agree. I wish he ended up with Nick, but the crazy Venji stans would rage. They’re still attacking Rahim.

by Anonymousreply 421June 19, 2022 1:50 PM

I liked the Venji outcome, but the final season was an anti-climax. Overall, just meh.

There's something disconcerting/disjointed in having an entire season of content of these shows drop at once and then having to wait another year+ to see the next season.

by Anonymousreply 422June 19, 2022 1:58 PM

Rushed and weak ending.

And did something happen between Michael Cimino and the actress playing Mia? They had so very few scenes together this season, and in the scenes they did share, Mia came across as still being pissed off. Thrvthing about her being inspired by his speech rang especially false.

by Anonymousreply 423June 19, 2022 1:59 PM

by Anonymousreply 426June 19, 2022 3:44 PM

I do not get the love for the Benji character at all. He’s my least favorite character on the show…I even liked the terrible little brother better.

by Anonymousreply 427June 19, 2022 4:13 PM

Just finished the final season, and it was quite good and loved it overall, loved the addition of "let's keep it casual" Nick and not making him a villain by giving Victor an STI.

All storylines neatly tied together in a feel-good kind of way.

As a self-proclaimed eldergay, I am happy and amazed how far gay themed entertainment has come. When I was a teen, the best I could hope for was a token gay BFF as sidekick who maybe gets a subplot per season, or someone like Kerr Smith on Dawson's Creek. Nowadays, I'm sort of struggling to keep up with all the wonderful worldwide entertainment with gay characters in the main and regular cast.

by Anonymousreply 428June 19, 2022 4:41 PM

I still can't believe they chickened out on Victor getting an STD and ended up making it poison ivy.

Rachel Hilson is going to be successful in her career. She is very well liked by her colleagues and the casting people, the producers, directors, etc. She was in This is Us, and a few other things.

by Anonymousreply 430June 19, 2022 5:31 PM

Mason Gooding has a hot bod and a great resume

by Anonymousreply 431June 19, 2022 7:56 PM

Michael does not look good with longer hair.

by Anonymousreply 432June 19, 2022 8:01 PM

[quote]I still can't believe they chickened out on Victor getting an STD and ended up making it poison ivy.

To be honest, I had already rolled my eyes about the fuck buddy/STD cliché, so when the poison ivy twist was revealed, I was pleasantly surprised.

by Anonymousreply 433June 19, 2022 8:51 PM

R430 - she’s been cast in the Red White & Royal Blue movie as well I noticed. That’ll do her well I’m sure. It’s the kinda show that’ll have a fanbase already there who will love it & the actors regardless.

I thought she was really good in This Is Us. She really studied older Beth!

by Anonymousreply 434June 19, 2022 9:57 PM

I enjoyed the first two seasons, but Season 3 was disappointing. The relationship plots seemed superficial and unbelievable. The whole thing felt thrown together and cliched. It lacked the charm of the first two seasons.

by Anonymousreply 435June 20, 2022 2:56 AM

They wrote themselves into a corner and with it being a shortened final season they had to work with what they had.

by Anonymousreply 436June 20, 2022 3:02 AM

I think Cimino is cute in some still pictures and when he's just staring into space on film, but when he starts to talk/act he loses me. He's really not very masculine or manly, is he? It's like he's 14.

by Anonymousreply 437June 20, 2022 3:26 AM

Cimino reminds me of a little attention seeking puppy. Endearing and annoying. And yes. He acts much younger than his age. He tries too had. Now he is a intelligent, aticulate young man, but he seems to be almost playing a role when he goes on TikTok or Instagram. He's been recording original music, some of it with Ray Goren and Finn Matthews.Finn is very talented. I'd be curious to see what others might think of it. I found it uneven. Some of the stuff was ridiculous and a couple were pretty good. You can tell Bruno Mars and Justin Beiber are some of his favorites.

by Anonymousreply 438June 20, 2022 4:14 AM

He's relentlessly cheerful. I hate that.

by Anonymousreply 439June 20, 2022 12:21 PM

That Victor friend-zones Rahim in favor of guys like Benji and Nick also I thought was very honest writing speaking to how society works r386. You see Victor chasing after masculine white guys but deciding that the more effeminate Rahim should just be a friend.

by Anonymousreply 440June 20, 2022 12:41 PM

In season 2, I was firmly siding with Benji because I felt that Rahim was intentionally trying to steal Victor. In season 3, Rahim is presented much more sympathetically, whereas Benji is shown to be a total mess. To be honest, having worked with addicts, Victor should have chosen anyone but Benji. That boy is so fucked-up, he will crash so hard at some point and will draw Victor into the whole mess as well. Presenting a relationship with teenage alcoholic as the 'end game' is also quite fucked-up, if you think about it.

by Anonymousreply 441June 20, 2022 12:56 PM

by Anonymousreply 442June 20, 2022 12:56 PM

Benji is just a boring character, and I don't know how much of that is the writing and how much of that is George Sears performance r427. I do feel bad for George that his main character trait is this is an highschooler who is a recovering alcoholic.

But both Nick and Rahim were more dynamics characters.

by Anonymousreply 443June 20, 2022 12:56 PM

Sorry, for the double post... DL is erratic again today.

by Anonymousreply 444June 20, 2022 12:57 PM

Actor playing Rahim has an incredible ass, it has to be said.

On another shallow note, Benji's hair was so much better in the previous seasons. This dark Clairol look isn't that great.

by Anonymousreply 445June 20, 2022 1:01 PM

[quote]Presenting a relationship with teenage alcoholic as the 'end game' is also quite fucked-up, if you think about it.

I mean this show is obsessed with framing high school relationships as "end-game". Victors parents are highschool sweethearts and Victor/Benji, Mia/Andrew and even Lake/Lucy have to presented as true love that God forbid we could ever end up breaking up once highschool is over. Our entire lives need to revolve around our relationship. I mean I laughed a Lake presenting her mom's second house to a girl she has been dating a couple months? This shows messaging on highschool relationships is pretty crazy.

by Anonymousreply 446June 20, 2022 1:02 PM

That is crazy.

Everyone knows your junior high romance is end game!

by Anonymousreply 447June 20, 2022 1:12 PM

R446 well it’s not called Casual Hookup, Victor, though they did try that this season.

by Anonymousreply 448June 20, 2022 2:01 PM

Victor and Benji will most likely break up before they go to college.

by Anonymousreply 449June 20, 2022 2:13 PM

Victor is giving me Carrie Bradshaw vibes. iykyk

by Anonymousreply 450June 20, 2022 3:16 PM

No, R449, Victor is a Rescuer. I have a feeling he will optimistically try to support Benij as Benji "works" on himself. The first few times Benji slips up, he will be 100 % there. But as time passes, it will exhaust him. I hate to say this, but the Benji character, as drawn by these writers, and presented by these showrunners, is a candidate for Suicide. He aleady tried once. That car accident.

Victor is going to think he can "fix" Benji. He'll try to figure out what he can do to make sure Benji doesn't slip up. In a way he might become like a parental figure to Benji. I'm thinking they will be on and off all through college and finally about 5-6 years from now, either Victor will be exhausted, and break up, or Benji will end things, have another accident. He will leave a beautiful note, though. George Sear did a damned good job with his speech at the AA meeting. It made me verklempt.

In general, these writers really did saddle the cast with some heavy shit. Felix was living in disgusting conditions with a mentally ill woman who couldn't even keep a job. He has to borrow money from Victor's sister from her job at the Pretzel joint at the Mall to keep from being evicted. Mia and Andew were pactically raising themselves, clinging to one another. Felix's girlfriend ends up trying to help him by telling her mother, and Child Welfare steps in, and Mama gets committed. So they break up.

The "ideal" intact family, Isabel and Armando are separated. She is a cheater who has an affair with his boss. He explodes, beats the guy up, and relocates his family to Atlanta and a new job. Then they get back together, and he has another explosion about Gay slurs against his son, and he "quits" the job, all in a year's time. So IMO this was a fucking soap opera, even had those short cliffhanger episodes like a soap. I wonder if they could have done better by making it an adult show. It was 13 Reasons Why Lite. Except no one died.

by Anonymousreply 451June 20, 2022 3:31 PM

How many cans of hair spray were killed keeping Benji's hair in place? That is one awful looking 'do.

by Anonymousreply 452June 20, 2022 3:47 PM

I know no one will probably be able to definitively answer this, but I'm still asking: Why are there suddenly so many actors on teen oriented shows who are English. playing American? Or Australian, playing American? There are several on Stranger Things, for ex. There was the lead girl on the first two seasons of 13 Reasons Why. A few years ago thgere was Daniel Sharman on Teen Wolf. And there's George Sear on this show. There must be a lot of young American actors looking for work, who don't have to put on fake accents. I'm not criticizing, it just seems like a weird trend.

by Anonymousreply 453June 20, 2022 5:25 PM

R453, they're probably cheaper. But maybe they're also better educated with regard to acting (coming from a country with a more traditional theater culture, dialects being important)? Or maybe they sound more convincing in castings (since British English tends to sound more impressive to American ears)? Maybe they're more likely to suck cock for a role?

by Anonymousreply 454June 20, 2022 7:29 PM

I mean there is a ton of Brit/Aussie actors trying to break into the entertainment industry and often times casting directors will end up choosing them for whatever reason.

That's always been the case, a Brit played southern belle Scarlet O'hara in Gone with the Wind.

by Anonymousreply 455June 20, 2022 7:36 PM

Credit where due, George's American accent was unusually seamless. Though there is no way he looked like a high school senior, particularly after his floppy hair phase.

by Anonymousreply 456June 20, 2022 7:42 PM

I had NO idea George was British (I’m British)!

I’ve never understood why they make Matthew MacFadyen play American in Succession. It wouldn’t change the story at all if he was British.. and his accent is very questionable at times! Great actor though!

by Anonymousreply 457June 20, 2022 7:45 PM

George looked more like a high schooler than Nico did at least. Nico Greetham definitely looks like the 27 year old man he is.

Trying to pair him up with the new character felt wrong on so many levels. One there is no way a guy like Nick would chase after Liam, and two Nick practically looks like he could be his father.

by Anonymousreply 458June 20, 2022 7:50 PM

Liam looked like a freshman, even though the actor is 20, which made it weird for a Junior/senior to start dating him.

by Anonymousreply 459June 20, 2022 7:52 PM

[quote]Nick and not making him a villain by giving Victor an STI.

I dislike the implication that if Victor did get an STI from Nick that makes him a villain r428. Victor was a consenting participant in hooking up with Nick, including after Nick made it clear he was banging guys other than Victor.

Nick never did anything wrong there.

by Anonymousreply 460June 20, 2022 8:06 PM

The ending very well may have been the fastest tying of a shiny bow on things in history! All is well in the word in 120 seconds!

by Anonymousreply 461June 20, 2022 10:23 PM

[quote] One there is no way a guy like Nick would chase after Liam

Your prejudice is showing. You don't know what kind of guys Nick would or would not be attracted to.

by Anonymousreply 462June 20, 2022 10:31 PM

Is it me or did the Rahim actor tone down the flamboyance in S3?

by Anonymousreply 463June 20, 2022 10:32 PM

Maybe he was going for a Jackie Kennedy bouffant, R452.

I love Benji, but I agree, that hair was awful. Maybe George just needed a haircut.

by Anonymousreply 464June 20, 2022 10:35 PM

Just being realistic r462. I'm a gay men who has spent my life around gay men and I know what you normally see.

by Anonymousreply 465June 20, 2022 10:46 PM

Maybe Nick just recognized a bottom who needed breaking in, R465. ;-)

by Anonymousreply 466June 20, 2022 10:52 PM

[quote] I dislike the implication that if Victor did get an STI from Nick that makes him a villain [R428].

On a teen drama show? Uh, yeah. He'd totally be the whore of Babylon villain for giving the lead an STI. Whether the sex was consensual or not, does not matter. The blame will be on the one who spreads the STI way more than on the one who receives it.

by Anonymousreply 467June 21, 2022 5:10 AM

Michael didn’t even have a shirtless scene this season.. What were they thinking?

by Anonymousreply 468June 21, 2022 5:18 AM

R468 Too many tattoos for the makeup people to cover up now.

by Anonymousreply 469June 21, 2022 6:23 AM

R376, this Nico person you are talking about is not gay, so your claim is 'laughable' — as you put it.

Also, to assume you know the sexuality of any of the actors in the series just because you've seen them onscreen and/or accept their claims in the media is also 'laughable'

by Anonymousreply 470June 21, 2022 6:30 AM

R404, Yes, a vanilla pedestrian version of Michael Pitt

by Anonymousreply 471June 21, 2022 6:40 AM

R415. Mason is also Cuba Gooding Jr's spawn, which is I think one of the reasons he wouldn't disappear into the ether.

Michael Cimino needs to brush up on his acting skills if he wants his career to go any further, a good agent and a pretty face are not enough

by Anonymousreply 472June 21, 2022 6:47 AM

R429, it would have looked a bit homophobic, in line with the idea that gay sex is wrong and invariably leads to AIDS, STDs etc...

by Anonymousreply 473June 21, 2022 6:54 AM

R441, yeah, but he's white, which in the minds of a lot of the Venji fans it seems to trump everything

by Anonymousreply 474June 21, 2022 7:00 AM

R453 Casting directors are enamored by their fancy accents? There is no other explanation, their acting is just as shitty as American actors. Brit shows do not cast American actors to play Brits though, enough is enough.

by Anonymousreply 475June 21, 2022 7:01 AM

I think Victor should transfer for the rest of his high school years to either the Euphoria school or be an international student at the Elite school.

by Anonymousreply 476June 21, 2022 7:06 AM

R475 I have friends in casting and production who strongly imply that young Brits, Irish, Aussies etc are willing to work comparatively cheaply for a chance to break into the American market -- becoming known in the States is unsurprisingly seen as the Golden Key to fame and fortune. So economics may be a factor.

by Anonymousreply 477June 21, 2022 8:12 AM

[quote] I have friends in casting and production who strongly imply that young Brits, Irish, Aussies etc are willing to work comparatively cheaply for a chance to break into the American market.

Talent agencies negotiate salaries and get a cut from said salary. Foreign actors don't just show up on auditions and offer that they'd work for less money.

Foreign actors need representation just like any local actor to be allowed to audition.

by Anonymousreply 478June 21, 2022 8:18 AM

Why didn’t Nick Robinson make a cameo this season?

by Anonymousreply 479June 21, 2022 2:33 PM

In terms of storyline they wanted to show that Victor no longer needed Simon for validation.

I noticed that Nick was no longer listed as a producer for a season 3.

by Anonymousreply 480June 21, 2022 2:58 PM

Did Nick even have a producer credit this season?

by Anonymousreply 481June 21, 2022 3:01 PM

I like Nick Robinson. I thought he would have a much bigger career. He seemed to be riding high with Jurassic World, but seems to have fizzled.

I'm surprised Native Son didn't get more press. It must have been a horrible adaptation since Richard Wright and Native Son were such big deals. Wright is on the reading lists of most 20th century American Lit college courses.

by Anonymousreply 482June 21, 2022 4:17 PM

I thought any foreign actor needs a work visa and the Production company has to secure that. It's not cheap. Now I'd imagine if you're a big star you may have status or be a dual resident or WTF ever. Now from what I gather, Sear has been living in L.A. since 2018. He got this job in 2019. So I'm thinking he had to have a work visa.

by Anonymousreply 483June 21, 2022 5:15 PM

I thought the final season was awful? This includes the insufferable Benji. ughh!

by Anonymousreply 484June 21, 2022 5:44 PM

The actor playing Victor’s dad pings for me.

by Anonymousreply 485June 21, 2022 8:39 PM

R470 Nico Greetham Is very very gay in real life…

by Anonymousreply 486June 22, 2022 12:18 AM

Was Nico Greetham’s lower jaw swollen after the awards ceremony on the finale? It looked weird…no one has literally no lower lip, right?

Strangely enough, it reminded me of the final episode of Season 1, where Lukas Gage’s face looked weirdly bloated. Or maybe was just fat at that time.

by Anonymousreply 487June 22, 2022 12:30 AM

Botox?

by Anonymousreply 488June 22, 2022 12:52 AM

I Don't see George Sear having a lot of success as an actor. He's a decent actor, but he definitely is no better than a C+. Second , he is short. Third he will be 25 this year and he looks like a 18 yr old. In the same way that GAY Nico Greetham looks his age, 27, George looks young. Now IMO he has a beautiful face. But it is decidedly "pretty." Almost too pretty, and thus limiting. It must take a lot of work for a director to get a performance out of him. Finally he doesn't seem to know how to hustle and network. He has almost no presence on social media besides "liking" other people's stuff. I think, after watching his interviews, he is very self conscious and maybe painfully shy. Not as relaxed or comfortable as Michael. So he is limited in his options. He has said he writes and wants to direct. So maybe that's where he ends up.

by Anonymousreply 489June 22, 2022 1:28 AM

The hair color and styles for Benji and Nick were atrocious.

Michael always has that twinkle in his eyes and has great lips and teeth.

by Anonymousreply 490June 22, 2022 1:32 AM

R489 If he was cast on this show and was popular, there's no reason that can't continue. Also I don't think he looks 18.

by Anonymousreply 491June 22, 2022 1:35 AM

He’s no me, that’s for sure!

by Anonymousreply 492June 22, 2022 1:41 AM

Sear has weird lower teeth. Like a goblin. And his hair was terrible, at least at the end. He looked like a tiny Sith Lord.

by Anonymousreply 493June 22, 2022 1:46 AM

He's a snaggletooth. He needs to get it fixed. He could play a vampire without any prosthetics.

by Anonymousreply 494June 22, 2022 3:19 PM

I don't get it. The setting is Atlanta. Now admittedly Atlanta gets chilly in winter sometimes into 3o's. But When Victor sees Benji for the first time by the water fountain, he is in a t-shirt and jeans. Season 1. But in Season 2 & 3, with the exception of his work t-shirt, Benji is usually wearing some kind of jacket. I liked the way he looked when he went to Mia's father's wedding and caught Victor. I loved that same suit at the Sping Fling. I liked the outfit he wore in Season 3 episode 5 I think. When they went to drag bingo. The continuity ws shit when it came to his hair too. From one scene to the next his hair looked different, even when it was the same scene and they cut away and came back.. The scene where he is walking into the classroom to meet his tutor is a case in point.

by Anonymousreply 495June 22, 2022 5:29 PM

They love dressing these characters in layers and jackets r495.

At least this season it was meant to be winter, but it was really bad in Season 2 when a lot of it took place in summer. None of them were dressed the for a Hotlanta summer.

Also not a single character on this show has ever had a southern accent...

by Anonymousreply 498June 22, 2022 10:54 PM

It's quite common for "sexy" shows to stop being sexy in their final season, because they no longer need to pander to the audience (to keep the ratings and interest in the show up).

by Anonymousreply 499June 22, 2022 10:58 PM

Schedules have not been normal with the pandemic which may explain some scenes not looking like they were shot all at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 500June 22, 2022 10:58 PM

All I want to say is Anthony Keyvan was delightful as Rahim. I loved that character and I am so glad they wrote scenes for him and Benij and then gave him an actual boyfriend. I wish they'd do a spin off. I will also say I'm glad he and Victor are friends. I never wanted them to hook up. I thought it was important to show Gay guys being friends. And honestly, this was sort of a fairy tale, right? (No pun intended. ) The two leads were destined to end up together.

by Anonymousreply 501June 23, 2022 2:43 AM

[quote]All I want to say is Anthony Keyvan was delightful as Rahim.

Agree.

He's the prettiest of the bunch as well! "Persian Clark Kent" indeed.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 502June 23, 2022 3:17 AM

I didn't think he was the prettiest. It's relative I guess. In fact, I thought he looked too old to be a high school kid. But I loved the character this year.

by Anonymousreply 503June 23, 2022 12:04 PM

I thought it was unealistic for Victor and Benji to reconcile, and get dad's car and then sit a mile apart in the ccar, and not want to have make up sex. They should have parked somewhere and fucked their brains out. They're teenagers, for fuck's sake!

by Anonymousreply 504June 23, 2022 12:08 PM

I don’t remember them having quite so many saccharine conversations in the prior seasons. Who goes and sits on their best friend’s bed to get the scoop on their first gay sex!? Lol

by Anonymousreply 505June 23, 2022 12:09 PM

The problem with this show and other YA novel based shows is that the original plot and story premise are thin by design since the target audience is young.

Once the initial story conflict is addressed, there is very little material to continue the story, so it become poorly imagined melodrama.

by Anonymousreply 506June 23, 2022 12:12 PM

r506, the general fear of YA themed content is always to not overwhelm the target audience (perceiving younger viewers as stupid, ignorant, shallow, not ready for certain topics, etc.). Of course, that makes other age groups roll their eyes at such entertainment. The exception is when the creators manage to sneak in jokes and references that go over the younger viewers' heads, but the older viewers get them.

by Anonymousreply 507June 23, 2022 12:22 PM

R496, I hear you! They shot the series in LA in November, December, January, February. The nights were cold. and the days got chilly. Now Atlanta has similar weather at that time of year, but they were supposed to be in their "summer bubble" and then Fall when school started, and Atlanta remains quite comfortable up into October.

by Anonymousreply 508June 23, 2022 12:33 PM

I want a Rahim spin off

by Anonymousreply 509June 23, 2022 6:38 PM

R509 Like he gets into meth and is spun?

by Anonymousreply 510June 23, 2022 7:53 PM

More like Rahim moves to SF, tosses his hat in the air, and makes it after all... with lots of hot guys. Or, since he's the Persian Clark Kent, give him some superpowers and let him fight crime while looking fabulous and hooking up with lots of hot guys. The possibilities are limitless.

Honestly, though, I just want more Rahim in my life.

by Anonymousreply 511June 23, 2022 8:06 PM

Hunny if anyone becomes a meth head it's Felix.

by Anonymousreply 512June 23, 2022 8:51 PM

What was the target audience of 13 Reasons Why, though? It was about high school teens, and that's primarily who watched it (and younger), yet it had everything in it - sex scenes, murder, suicide, rape, etc.

by Anonymousreply 513June 23, 2022 10:48 PM

13 Reasons was a popular YA novel and only the first season of the show loosely followed the book.

The sex scenes were amped up for the show. The novel focused much more on her recordings to unravel why she killed herself and how all the stories that led to that were intertwined.

The majority of the stuff about the other characters was invented for the show as they attempted to give a backstory to why they behaved the way they did - and ultimately undercuts Hannah's suicide by mitigating their shitty behavior. The novel was Hannah and Clay's story.

by Anonymousreply 514June 23, 2022 11:01 PM

R514 Thanks. But I don't think that was what I was saying, unless I wasn't very clear. The poster was talking about the limiations of a YA themed TV show like Love, Victor. And I was pointing out 13 RW pushed the envelope a lot more than Love, Victor, yet it was also a YA themed show. So I don't think Love, Victor was limited just by being a YA show. I think a choice was made to keep it somewhat more within certain bounds.

by Anonymousreply 515June 24, 2022 1:32 AM

R515 Love, Victor was initially slated to premiere on the Disney+ channel, but they got cold feet that it would be to controversial so it was dumped onto Hulu, which is owned by Disney. So, the first season being low key was expected, but many hoped substantial seasons would be more spicy, but it basically stayed in the lane it started in.

by Anonymousreply 516June 24, 2022 1:50 AM

Well IMO they were cowards. Was this just one of those family sitcoms focusing on the Gay son and his high school friends? Because they crapped out on the sex stuff. Kept it PG. How could they not show or at least imply make up sex in Dad's car in Episode 1.

by Anonymousreply 517June 24, 2022 12:55 PM

There are not that many family friendly TV shows who let a teenager be a recovering alcoholic who is in AA. That was new, but not as edgy as in Euphoria. I was pleasantly surprised that Victor and Andrew were allowed to get high, and it didn't turn into a "don't do drugs, kids!" PSA.

I think HBO Max's Euphoria really is a game changer when it comes to edgy teen entertainment and how other shows try to keep up pushing the envelope in their own way.

by Anonymousreply 518June 24, 2022 1:03 PM

R517 If you want to watch sex there's plenty of porn available. It says something about you that you criticize what you see as a lack of sexual content.

by Anonymousreply 519June 24, 2022 11:13 PM

R519 you're full of shit. I am complaining about the lack of authenticity and the deliberate sanitizing. Because it implies that Gay sex and portrayals of affection and tendeness are kept to a minimum because they feel audiences aren't ready to see too much of Gays doing that. I do not need to see people fucking. (Porn is boring.) I would like authenticity. Not fucking, but some acknowledgement that these are teenagers, 17 yr olds, in love and hot for one another.

In one scene Benji reaches out while driving and strokes Victor's cheek. I loved it. It was a tender gesture of affection. In another scene in episode one they both flop down on Benji's bed and Victor reaches out and strokes Benji's hair, trying to comfort him. There wasn't enough of that kind of thing. Touching is important. The scene of the two of them sitting on the school bench kissing, they were also holding hands. To me that was hot. I love seeing the physical manifestations of love. Now go stick a dildo up your bum you judgemental ass

by Anonymousreply 520June 24, 2022 11:53 PM

R520 I'm sorry the lovely moments you describe weren't enough for you. I still think you're obsessed, or at least preoccupied, with the depiction of sex.

You can always write/produce your own show the way you want it.

Go ahead. You can think I'm obsessed. I think you're an ass. Anyway I've made my point.

I'm sorry. After all is said and done I still have a crush on George./Benji. The series had flaws. It has strengths and weaknesses, but overall there was something about it that drew me in and I think it was the characters. They did a great job of casting this show. I enjoyed the dialogue too. Now plotwise it had flaws, but still. And I think Geoge is adorable. And lest you start fucking with me being a pedo, George is 24 going on 25.

Just finished watching episode 4. Nic’s a ho. Rahim’s hot as fuck!

by Anonymousreply 525June 26, 2022 3:54 AM

I would watch a Season 4. There I said it.

George/Benji is an example of how first impressions really stick with you.

His very first scene at the drinking fountain and the way he runs his fingers through his hair is very sexy. THAT is the image I had of him for the rest of the show.

Michael Cimino is at NYC pride with Nicholas Hamilton

From the very first episode, the best element of this series for me is the friendship between Victor and Felix. When Victor came out to Felix in the first season, I think to this day that's the most touching scene in the whole series. The openness between him and Victor, including the scene when Victor discovered the rash on his cock, is so special.

Felix is actually my favorite character. When I was in my early teens, my family and I moved and I had to change schools. I was bullied. I wish I had a friend like Felix who knew the school, and showed up and watched out for me the way he did for Victor. I think Pilar's being a brat. Her parents took Felix in when he had nobody and kept him out of the foster care system. He was just being respectful.

by Anonymousreply 529June 26, 2022 8:07 PM

But Pilar has a point. When push came to shove, Felix chose her parents over her. That's not a great foundation for a romantic relationship.

by Anonymousreply 530June 26, 2022 8:21 PM

YEs but. I have a feeling for Felix the timing wasn't right. But I have a feeling he's gonna circle back and end up with Pilar. He loved that family, and having Papa and Mama throw him out in anger was traumatic for him. But it will pass.

Victor and Rahim singing karaoke at a gay bar. I think this is in season 2. (This is the stealth case for Victor + Rahim.)

R528, Michael was there on behalf of The Trevor Project. ...and he was promoting his TV show. You missed the part where he is riding on a float and took off his shirt and threw it into the crowd. He was having a blast. He has a real nice body, BTW.

by Anonymousreply 533June 26, 2022 10:40 PM

R533 Here’s hoping Michael got some ASS.

by Anonymousreply 534June 27, 2022 12:33 AM

Sooo, when Victor told the doctor that his booty calls with Nic didn't involve "sex, sex", what were Nic and him doing underneath that house: 69, frottage, what?

R533 And here he is having a blast (shirtless)

R535, very good question. Enquiring minds would like to know...

by Anonymousreply 537June 27, 2022 2:55 PM

It means they stopped at blow jobs, every gay hook up doesn't have to involve anal. Especially these impromptu hook ups where you might not be "prepared"

by Anonymousreply 538June 27, 2022 3:36 PM

Nice pittage r536.

by Anonymousreply 539June 27, 2022 3:40 PM

Here's a question. Now when Nick jumped on him, and in Season 2 when he and Benji were making out in the backroom at work, the t-shirts came off first thing.. Now I don't know if the director thought to amplify the heat of the moment by having them tear at one another's t-shirts, but in my personal experience, as a promiscuous 16-17 yr. old, it was the ass and the zipper we went for not the t- shirt. Nick was buttoning Victor's shirt. It was kind of sexy to see him do that.) So I'm asking, did I miss out by not tearing my boyfriend's t-shirt off to give him a blow job? I mean we were usually in a place where there was some risk involved.

Michael Cimino posted a short video on YouTube saying that he will not work in Texas due to their treatment of LGBT persons unless absolutely necessary, and for a very limited time. 'They don't need pink money'. 'I won't be supporting places who don't support my people'.

Did he come out as bi or gay and I missed it? I last recall that Michael gave one of those standard-issue young-actor-in-a-gay-role 'never say never' generic sexuality disclaimers.

R541 - Maybe, that statement is his lowkey way of coming out🤞

by Anonymousreply 542June 27, 2022 10:33 PM

But he qualifies it to say that he wouldn’t film there unless there’s a dire need 🙃

by Anonymousreply 543June 27, 2022 10:35 PM

I'm happy they read DL. They made Bebe Wood bi like we suggested years ago, they also finally showed Victor enjoying basketball, like watching a game on his phone when he gets a booty call. Good call. They also showed his phone with a screen that is related to basketball. We still had to endure the fem pity party which wouldn't exist with out gay athletes, but overall this was a decent show.

Before I even clicked on it I knew he's have that same shit eating grin on his face.

I want Michael. Let’s fuck, Mikey!

by Anonymousreply 546June 28, 2022 12:01 AM

Are we sure he’s not queer in some way? I’m very new to Love Victor & from just very recent looks around his Insta etc, I was fairly sure he probably was. But found this thread & figured I must have missed something about him saying he was straight!
