Why Did Craig Bierko Fail So Miserably

He was pushed and pushed and now is an embarrassment.

by Anonymousreply 54January 19, 2022 2:34 PM

Who? And hopefully he doesn't take the subway in NYC!

by Anonymousreply 1January 17, 2022 2:56 PM

we never heard what really happened when he 'left' Broadway's Matilda so fast

by Anonymousreply 2January 17, 2022 2:57 PM

Yeah, I never quite bought the injury story, R2. He's an odd duck, I used to watch his Twitter live streams and he's a little out there.

by Anonymousreply 3January 17, 2022 2:58 PM

OP I don't know her!

by Anonymousreply 4January 17, 2022 4:44 PM

His goofy last name.

by Anonymousreply 5January 17, 2022 6:29 PM

I used to know someone with the last name Bjerkin. Small world!

by Anonymousreply 6January 17, 2022 7:18 PM

I'd argue that he failed because he was the poorman's substitute for Brendan Fraser.

He looked so much like him that a casual observer wouldn't know the difference, so when Fraser's career stalled, his did also.

Similar to why Marilyn Monroe's death spelled career death for the likes of Jayne Mansfield.

by Anonymousreply 7January 17, 2022 7:26 PM

R7 is the kind of person who always cites that mysterious "casual observer" that she's imagined to prove her argument.

Please.

by Anonymousreply 8January 17, 2022 7:32 PM

Does Craig owe you money, OP?

by Anonymousreply 9January 17, 2022 7:43 PM

Jayne Mansfield was well able to derail her own career, R7. And Brendan Fraser wasn't big enough to cause damage to another person's career like that.

by Anonymousreply 10January 17, 2022 7:46 PM

It was the Porkpie hat.

by Anonymousreply 11January 17, 2022 7:47 PM

[quote]Similar to why Marilyn Monroe's death spelled career death for the likes of Jayne Mansfield.

The era of the 1950s blonde bombshell was already coming to an end before both Marilyn died, as all eras do. Audrey Hepburn was a major star in the early 1960s and couldn't have been more different from Monroe, Mansfield and the rest.

by Anonymousreply 12January 17, 2022 7:53 PM

I went to college with Craig. He was always a bit withdrawn

by Anonymousreply 13January 17, 2022 7:56 PM

Audrey was a star from 1953 when she won her Oscar for "Roman Holiday". There was room for both she and Marilyn as box-office stars back throughout the 50s and into the 1960s. Marilyn was still employed on "Something's Got to Give" when she died, so work certainly hadn't dried up.

by Anonymousreply 14January 17, 2022 7:57 PM

Marilyn was FIRED from Something's Got to Give a mere few months before she died.

by Anonymousreply 15January 17, 2022 8:00 PM

Pussy.

by Anonymousreply 16January 17, 2022 8:01 PM

What was this all about?

There was only one Marilyn. Jayne Mansfield, Mamie Van Doren and the rest of the copycats never got anywhere near her level of stardom.

by Anonymousreply 18January 17, 2022 8:04 PM

[quote]Jayne Mansfield was well able to derail her own career, [R7].

[quote]The era of the 1950s blonde bombshell was already coming to an end before both Marilyn died, as all eras do.

Exactly my point. Monroe's death was the final death knell of the blonde bombshell era. After he death, they ran from that image to disassociate themselves since her death at the time was hardly glamorous.

As for Bierko and Fraser, the point is not that Fraser was so big (by the way, he was big at the time his career tanked), but that he was the most famous of that particular type.

by Anonymousreply 19January 17, 2022 9:34 PM

[quote]I'd argue that he failed because he was the poorman's substitute for Brendan Fraser.

He was a poor man's Ben Affleck.

by Anonymousreply 20January 17, 2022 9:37 PM

[quote]His goofy last name

Yeah, he needed to change that

by Anonymousreply 21January 17, 2022 9:38 PM

Because after replies it’s already clear that people would rather talk about Marilyn Monroe and Brendan Fraser.

by Anonymousreply 22January 17, 2022 9:41 PM

^after 20

by Anonymousreply 23January 17, 2022 9:41 PM

Valerie Bertinelli messed up his career and Matthew Perry used his connection with Valerie to steal his part of Chandler from him.

by Anonymousreply 24January 17, 2022 9:46 PM

I thought he turned down the role on Friends?

by Anonymousreply 25January 17, 2022 10:00 PM

Bierko suffers from some significant mental illness.

by Anonymousreply 26January 17, 2022 10:02 PM

Marilyn was FIRED from Something's Got to Give a mere few months before she died.

Yes, she was. But Dean Martin had costar approval and refused to accept anyone else. She was rehired in a new deal that included her starring in What a Way to Go and shooting was set to resume that fall.

by Anonymousreply 27January 17, 2022 10:15 PM

I kind of wondered about that, R26. Sad. He seems like a good person with struggles.

by Anonymousreply 28January 17, 2022 10:16 PM

I saw Bierko in Matilda and it was beyond painful. One of the worst replacement performances I’ve ever witnessed. Bertie was such a scream in the role and Bierko was completely at sea. I don’t think a single joke landed.

by Anonymousreply 29January 17, 2022 10:17 PM

Does anyone else wonder if his Chandler would have ended up with Nancy McKeon's Monica?

by Anonymousreply 30January 17, 2022 10:18 PM

He was excellent as Harold Hill in the first major Broadway revival of The Music Man in 2000.

by Anonymousreply 31January 17, 2022 10:20 PM

I saw Bierko years ago on stage - I think it was in some completely underwhelming off-Broadway production.

IIRC it co-starred Molly Ringwald and Jason Biggs.

The play was a stinker, and Bierko was not good, to say the least.

In fact, he looked like he was bored and would rather have been anywhere else.

by Anonymousreply 32January 17, 2022 10:20 PM

lost his boyish good looks too soon. Fraser too.

by Anonymousreply 33January 17, 2022 10:23 PM

He was on David E. Kelley's Boston Legal, which quickly became a spaghetti thrown at the wall experiment with big name co-stars on limited contracts--Tom Selleck, Heather Locklear, Delta Burke, Katey Segal, Michael J. Fox.....

Anyway, he was a staff lawyer at the firm so he could have become a series regular. Instead, they wrote him off very abruptly. I think it was even before some of the storylines he was part of wrapped up.

by Anonymousreply 34January 17, 2022 10:44 PM

Remind me ... who was his long term boyfriend?

by Anonymousreply 35January 17, 2022 10:55 PM

Maybe he does have mental issues, R34.

by Anonymousreply 36January 17, 2022 10:56 PM

He was on Sex and the City as Carrie's ADHD fuck buddy who gave her the best orgasm she ever had. I think they only went on 2 dates(?) the episode was ok but Carrie did her usual screeching and silly antics

by Anonymousreply 37January 17, 2022 11:05 PM

Bierko was with Frances Ruffelle, the original Eponine, for years.

by Anonymousreply 39January 18, 2022 2:59 PM

Not sure what the issue is, but it wasn't Bierko's huge penis.

by Anonymousreply 40January 18, 2022 3:02 PM

Are we to presume you've experienced that penis, R40?

by Anonymousreply 41January 18, 2022 6:24 PM

He used to see a therapist in my Greenwich Village apartment building.

by Anonymousreply 42January 18, 2022 6:46 PM

Was there only ever one episode of 'Bathing with Bierko'? The one where he interviews John Malkovich, and they're both in a bathtub?

by Anonymousreply 43January 19, 2022 12:46 AM

What the hell was this show anyway!? I never actually saw an episode. . .

According to the LAST Bierko thread, the dude has truly STANK breath.

Didn’t he also date DL fave Janeane Garafolo?

by Anonymousreply 46January 19, 2022 3:39 AM

He did indeed R46

by Anonymousreply 47January 19, 2022 3:40 AM

Sour Grapes was supposed to make him a star. Even his co-star Stephen Weber ended up with a longer career.

Few people did. "Sydney" ran for three months in the spring of 1990.

by Anonymousreply 49January 19, 2022 7:14 AM

The large cock is but a rumor, but it checks out (Polish background).

by Anonymousreply 50January 19, 2022 2:01 PM

My sincere advice to Craig is that he should only smile with his mouth closed.

He looks very similar to Hunter Biden.

Would the hotness and big D be worth the possible manic depressiveness and drama?

by Anonymousreply 52January 19, 2022 2:28 PM

Yikes, looks a little frightening there, R51. Bierko seems like good person, if he does have mental health issues I hope he's getting the help he needs.

No, 52.

by Anonymousreply 53January 19, 2022 2:30 PM

[quote]He was a poor man's Ben Affleck.

Which begs the question: Does a rich man even need a Ben Affleck?
