I guess Trump is still pretending that Jan. 6 was a "false flag"

by Anonymousreply 1January 9, 2022 10:29 PM

It's nice to see that even if Fox was SO closely intertwined with Trump's interests, he STILL lost the last election by 8 MILLION votes. It bodes very well for what will happen if the Republicans are stupid enough to allow him to run again (and they are).

FCI, have you checked out the twitter feed in this thread? A lot of stuff discussed on the treason and Mueller threads the last few years comes together rather neatly. Couple of new things I hadn't seen before, but (for me at least), only further confirms the Trump/Putin stole 2016 election theory.

R5 and R8 I will get back with you both after work. I need to make some calls. I said in another thread that the House is in chaos. They are trying to get things done before campaign season kicks in. There will be some shocking names on in the House and Senate for those who helped with the insurrection as well as some shocking retirements due to wanting to protect families. Most of those will be in safe Blue seats. No names until I hear they’ve made up their minds.

See, this is the conversation the Treason threads are known for. You guys keep me informed. My job keeps me busy, but I keep up with the huge volume of information around the various treasonous activities of Low T and friends from you all.

R8 I think there is no doubt 2016 was stolen which is why you get the narrative about 2020 being so extreme. The Right is now daring the anybody who believes in democracy to dare accuse them of stealing any election, past or future, so they can point the finger and say, “see Dems say the same things. WHATABOUTISM” all day long. Meanwhile, 2000, 2004, 2012( remember Rove freaking out on election night in total disbelief? he knew the machines weren’t calibrated to overcome Obama’s vote), and 2016. ES&S machines seem to be the go-to ones for them to change votes. Look at every single crazy thing they say about Dems stealing 2020! It is all projection of things they’ve done.

Somebody asked about the retirements. Yes, I’m talking about Dems. They do fear Rs taking over, extreme Rs, and are fearful for their families. I’ve heard Swalwell is one. He may seek another office or position within the Biden admin. Dems know the next Gen of Rs are dangerous.

by Anonymousreply 29January 11, 2022 10:56 AM

R29 is me. Damn keep forgetting to sign my name

by Anonymousreply 30January 11, 2022 10:57 AM

The article in R26 is from 2016. If there was anything to it, did Mueller know about it, was it investigated? Here is something from last month that bears on Donnie's connections with Russia. Klyushin was supposed to have an initial appearance in court a couple of weeks ago, in DC, but I don't see any news about it (maybe it was postponed due to Covid, or maybe he simply entered a "not guilty" plea and the hearing was over with...). One of Klyushin's co-arrestees in Switzerland was a man who WAS indicted by Mueller, as part of his investigation, for hacking into the US election. Klyushin looks like a man who knows where all the bodies are buried in this Russian /Trump hacking business, and the idea is that the US will refrain from prosecuting him if he cooperates re what he knows about that activity. Of course, he probably needs a full-time food-taster right about now: Donnie's bff Vladimir would surely like to have Klyushin poisoned.

by Anonymousreply 31January 11, 2022 12:54 PM

^(And curiously, Klyushin (nor Kliushin) is found in a search of the New York Times, they have not ever mentioned this man by name.)

Yes - But - the difference is this: The Repubs have no evidence the 2020 election was fixed - NONE - even the few votes they found in Arizona were for Biden, forchrissakes!.... There is tons of evidence pointing at the 2016 election!

Dominion voting machines are suing their accusers - successfully! What if the makers of ES&S machines had accusations flung against them? There's documentation of tons of errors. They'd have no case.

"While Republican elites try to minimize the events of Jan. 6th, the War Room and their minions have continued to take the coup both literally and seriously. In their view the Biden “regime” is illegitimate and the regime’s medical establishment has covered up nearly a half a million deaths from the COVID “vaccines.”

In 2022 they aim to put so many of their people in positions of power throughout state and local governments that next time there will be nothing anyone can do to stop their quest for power. And this crusade is infused with an unmistakable religious fervor and appeal to a quasi-Christian nationalism that calls it devotees into action.

As crazy as their show may sound on its face—and let me tell you it seems very crazy—anyone who cares about American democracy should take that prospect very seriously indeed."

Ex-County Clerk Kim Davis and the Oath Keepers had a history.
According to Van Tatenhove, in late 2015 -- hardly more than a year after he joined the Oath Keepers -- he "had problems" with how Rhodes and other members of the group publicly embraced Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who had been jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, in defiance of a judge's order and a recent Supreme Court ruling. "There are a lot of queer folk in my family," Van Tatenhove said. At the time, Rhodes issued a statement saying the "imperial judiciary" was trying to "swallow up our Bill of Rights." And when Davis was released from jail, the Oath Keepers announced that they were heading to Kentucky to help ensure she "will not be illegally detained again," news reports said.

by Anonymousreply 138January 19, 2022 3:15 PM

I love that writer for calling out Gorsuch's entitlement, R138. I can't even wrap my mind around the idea of refusing such a simple thing as wearing a mask to help protect a co-worker's health. Where is the understanding, the compassion, the basic level of respect for a fellow human being? I swear, Republicans are all missing an empathy gene.

And this doesn't surprise me at all:

"Stanford researchers also recently found that men who refuse to comply with Covid rules such as mask wearing are also more likely to commit sexual harassment and have sexist views. This makes perfect sense, since they're all outrageous displays of entitlement."

by Anonymousreply 139January 19, 2022 4:30 PM

Ginni Thomas is batshit extreme. It is a moral collapse of the media this isn’t a huge story all the time.

by Anonymousreply 149January 19, 2022 8:40 PM

You just know Ginni lords it over her "friends" that she is married to a Supreme Court Justice.

And you know those same "friends" whisper to each other that she had to marry a black man to do it.

And I'm fairly certain they use the n-word when talking about him.

by Anonymousreply 150January 19, 2022 8:55 PM
Ginni Thomas is batshit extreme. It is a moral collapse of the media this isn’t a huge story all the time.

I will always argue that one of the leading indicators of extremism is the determination to find a counterbalance which (in their mind) justifies and absolves them. She, therefore, goes even deeper into the rabbit hole because she is married to the country's #1 Black white apologist.

Question for you, R149: I see a consistent voicing of optimism from the right. Do they truly believe it, is it "politics as normal", or is it bravado....? Some of them have to be aware that exposure of their malfeasance could torpedo any advantage they have (if...they have any...question mark...).

by Anonymousreply 152January 19, 2022 9:08 PM

Kristol's mantra was being a neocon globalist and interventionist. I expect he regrets his support for Sarah Palin. Her messaging and popularity with the right-wing base was a prelude to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 153January 19, 2022 9:47 PM

R151 Are you just talking about midterms?

History says Dems should lose midterms. There is a very (I cannot highlight this enough) concerted effort make this about failed progressive policies (which they aren’t failures they’re huge successes) ignoring the party out of power almost always wins. That alone is reason for them to be optimistic. It would probably benefit Dems in 2024 if they got the House.

With all the shenanigans going on at the state level it will be a blowout if not stopped. If we pass VR in ‘22 they’d still likely win (see history). I’m not saying anything you all don’t already know.

by Anonymousreply 154January 19, 2022 9:56 PM

Yes, midterms.

I am so very aware of the precedent and it depresses me greatly. I can only hope that those revelations which you call shocking actually shake some sense into enough people to keep Congress from going off of the deep end (like Speaker Gym...). It's going to be a rough fight.

On the other hand, what is happening with Youngkin in Virginia right now might also factor into the equation if we're lucky.

Anything can happen. We really need to keep the Senate. House is a long shot. I fear Dems losing Nancy as a leader. You think Dems are like herding cats? You ain’t seen nothing if House Dems don’t have a very strong leader.

What could possibly be in the official record that the Archives are now free to provide? So, FCI or anyone else, what amazing information could be in the official papers/record? Is it texts and phone recordings?

You all know I’m very optimistic. One huge problem is we have too many billionaires who have way too much money. They have way too much influence on too many politicians, including a few Dems. Very few but some nonetheless.

Money is power. I cannot believe we allow individuals to become that wealthy knowing full well they will have too much power and influence. It is definitely not healthy for democracy as we see. I think we’re past the tipping point. We *almost* got all Dems to back changes to lessen their influence. We just had a few Dems like Sinema and Manchin who thwart it.

The good news is almost all Dems want to change this. In the past we had more than a few Dems who thwarted the will of the vast majority of the party. Add Dems to every level of govt. Sure we’ll get some bad apples, but we’ll get far more who will give us a fighting chance to change things for the better.

I’ve never heard the mood on the Hill be so grim. The good guys are demoralized. We need to let them know we have their backs. Call and thank them if you can.

ExxonMobil Tells Texas Supreme Court Lies Are Protected Speech. Exxon says climate litigation in California is a conspiracy designed to limit its right of free speech.
America has a legal system. What it lacks is a justice system. In other words, don’t get your hopes up, people. Corporate power is the basis of fascism and the bedrock of political life in America today. “We The People” are systematically marginalized or excluded from the operation of the American judicial system. This is going to get worse before it gets better. One way or another, climate litigation is going to wind up in the laps of the 9 justices of the US Supreme Court — 6 of whom were suckled at the breast of the Federalist Society, an organization founded in part and supported financially by Charles Koch and other oil interests. It is an article of faith among Federalist Society acolytes that corporations can do no wrong and have greater legal rights than people.
There’s a reason why Chief Justice John Roberts and his ultra right wing confréres blithely stated in Citizens United and other rulings that of course corporations have the same rights of free speech as mere mortals. They are “people”according to the Constitution, even though the word “corporation” appears nowhere in that document.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has gotten in on the fun. He has filed an extraordinary brief with the Texas Supreme Court — composed entirely of Republicans, half of them appointed by Abbott himself — in which he accuses the California plaintiffs of attempting “to suppress the speech of eighteen Texas-based energy companies on the subject of climate and energy policies.”

Just last year, Koch donated $708,500 to candidates who objected to Joe Biden’s presidential win, fueling an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Koch knows that history poses public relations problems as voters grow curious about dark money in politics. So last year we were treated to the spectacle of 85-year-old Charles Koch, the surviving politically active brother, saying he regretted deepening partisan divides. This year, the Koch network said it opposed banning education about our country’s racial history.

[bold] Dick Uihlein has been a reliable GOP donor for years. But in 2020, he gave millions to groups associated with overturning the election. [/bold]
Uihlien—whose net worth Bloomberg pegs at about $4 billion—also funded right-wing media outlets that pushed false narratives about the 2020 election. For instance, he donated $750,000 to the FDRLST, which pushed misleading claims of voter fraud. He also slipped $25,000 to the American Conservative, which published a number of articles claiming that Democrats had stolen the election, including a debunked article the evening of Jan. 6 alleging widespread fraud.
Another right-wing outlet, Sons of Liberty—the media outfit, not to be confused with a militia group of the same name—pocketed $300,000 from the supply chain magnate. The radio broadcast, which promoted claims of fraud after the election, is run by anti-LGBTQ activist-pastor Bradlee Dean, who has suggested that “homosexuals” are to blame for most child molestations in the country. Most recently, Sons of Liberty has been on an anti-vax kick, pushing outrageous claims, like that the COVID-19 vaccine is causing AIDS.
Uihlein also threw a $25,000 bone to conservative watchdog Judicial Watch, run by conspiracy theorist Tom Fitton. That organization also challenged the election results.
Some Uihlein money made it to groups directly involved with events on Jan. 6.
For example, he boosted Turning Point USA, the far-right youth organization helmed by social media personality Charlie Kirk. After Trump’s defeat, TPUSA pushed the Big Lie and backed the “Stop the Steal” movement, and later helped organize Jan. 6 rally events, including providing transportation for attendees from across the country. Uihlein contributed $30,000 to the group.
Uihlein also provided a pillar of financial support for the Tea Party Patriots, a far-right activist group which helped organize rally events on Jan. 6. Since 2016, he has gifted the group’s political committee more than $4 million, according to Federal Election Commission data—including $800,000 in September 2020.
There’s another riot connection, too—albeit less direct. The Media Research Center, which styles itself as a watchdog of liberal press outlets, received $300,000 from Uihlein in 2020.

GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn Cleans Gun During Veterans' Affairs Hearing
“It was immature. He’s a child. He lacks common sense. I think the congressman was overcompensating for something that he lacks and feeling inadequate among the heroes on that call,” said John Feal, a 9/11 first responder who was at the virtual meeting.
Feal was one of at least two people at the Veterans’ Affairs meeting who noticed what Cawthorn was doing. Both were infuriated. But the general public couldn’t see it, because the two-hour virtual hearing was held over Zoom—which meant that those tuning in could only see the person speaking.
Cawthorn worked on his pistol out of sight for several minutes, two people told The Daily Beast, but it became plainly visible during the testimony of Jen Burch, a veteran who spent six years in the Air Force serving in Japan and Afghanistan.

[...]
From the layout of the office behind him, Cawthorn appeared to be in his congressional office at the time, but The Daily Beast could not immediately confirm his location. (Although firearm possession is generally illegal in the District of Columbia, members of Congress have carved out a special rule that allows them to maintain guns in their offices.)
The Daily Beast asked Cawthorn’s office if the congressman thought this an appropriate time to clean his firearm. His communications director, Luke Ball, responded: “What could possibly be more patriotic than guns and veterans?”

Sidney Powell is eager to appear before the Jan. 06 Committee.

I'd enjoy hearing Liz Cheney questioning her.
Ms. Powell has received the January 6 Committee’s subpoena, and she looks forward to providing the Committee with significant evidence in support of the election fraud statements and claims she presented on behalf of the electors and clients she represented. Those claims are supported by expert reports and affidavits of witnesses that no court took the time to hear. Ms. Powell is a practicing lawyer, and she will comply to the full extent required by law and legal ethics. Ms. Powell looks forward to appearing before the Committee to answer questions, walk through the evidence, and present a full picture of the fraud and other misconduct that took place during the 2020 Election, including the myriad of election fraud allegations only now being examined by state officials in Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. -Statement on behalf of Sidney Powell–From Howard Kleinhendler, Counsel for Sidney Powell

Sarah Palin tests positive for Covid as defamation trial against New York Times begins
Palin sued the Times in 2017 over an editorial she said falsely linked her political rhetoric to the 2011 shooting of Gabby Giffords in 2017. The Times corrected the editorial, conceding that it had incorrectly characterized a map from Palin’s political action committee that featured crosshairs over certain Democrats’ electoral districts.
The case was originally dismissed but was reversed on appeal.
Palin claims that the Times editorial damaged her reputation and that the Times correction was insufficient.
