Black Lives Matter activists threaten ‘riots’ if Mayor-elect Eric Adams reinstates controversial NYPD anti-crime units

[quote] “If he thinks that they’re going to go back to the old ways of policing, then we are going to take to the streets again. There will be riots, there will be fire and there will be bloodshed because we believe in defending our people,” said Hawk Newsome, co-founder of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, after a heated meeting with Adams in Brooklyn Borough Hall.

This will be interesting to watch. Adams campaigned on restoring law & order in a city that is alarmed by rising crime rates.

by Anonymousreply 1November 11, 2021 4:14 AM

OP didn't care when Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, Paul Gosar and co threatened violence. He just hates black people

by Anonymousreply 2November 11, 2021 4:14 AM

any organization that wants to protest restoring law and order is corrupt. this isn't about black lives mattering. And no matter what systemic shit you've come up against, it does not trump your God-given free will. The discussion last summer was so stupid and one-sided around all these issues. it was embarrassing to white people and black people. we need to do better. we are one fucking race with different pigmentations. not different races of people. black is not a different type of human being. enough already.

by Anonymousreply 3November 11, 2021 4:18 AM

I’m on the side of BLM with this. I understand there is a lot of crime but I also understand that cops are prejudiced and racist as hell and will target black folks unfairly.

by Anonymousreply 4November 11, 2021 4:18 AM

[quote] “We will shut the city down. We will shut down City Hall, and we will give him hell and make it a nightmare,” said Chivona Newsome, a BLM co-founder and sister of Hawk Newsome. During the sitdown — which took place behind closed doors, but was livestreamed on Instagram by an attendee — Adams and the BLM activists got into a shouting match as they argued over police policies.

by Anonymousreply 5November 11, 2021 4:18 AM

After the report about the head of BLM was found to be corrupt and bought plenty of real estate with the past year, I say fuck them. There is not much written about the head of BLM or its organization.

Where is the transparency with this group? They were given millions of dollars as donation. What have they done with it besides buy real estate?

by Anonymousreply 6November 11, 2021 4:30 AM

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time...

Eric Adams and his supporters have been very busy studying David Dinkins mayoralty and fate. If Adams doesn't want to be another one term African American mayor of NYC he will have to deal with certain issues. Crime is top among them as things are just getting out of control.

Every day it is the same thing, reports of major property and other crimes.

by Anonymousreply 7November 11, 2021 4:31 AM

Adams will do nothing about this. Should have elected Sliwa. He was the first Republican I ever donated to. He was the correct choice. Elections have consequences. Good luck!

by Anonymousreply 8November 11, 2021 4:33 AM

Those are only the crimes you hear about in media. On a daily basis tons of stores are jacked (shoplifting, robbery, etc...) often on what seems an hourly basis.

Went to get milk early AM at local Rite Aid. Store opened at 6AM, no sooner than doors were opened one, two, three, four, *five* people marched into store, filled their bags and arms, then left.

Stood there in amazement while employees just laughed and said it is the new normal/happens every day. There isn't anything they can do but watch, so that's what they do.

by Anonymousreply 9November 11, 2021 4:34 AM

It really isn't Adams call to make. Only one local district attorney (Staten Island, no surprise there), actually prosecutes cases where they fall, shoplifting on up.. Brooklyn, Queens, certainly the Bronx, and soon incoming Manhattan DA won't prosecute shit that isn't a major felony.

Prostitution, larceny (petit or grand), and many other things are simply not prosecuted, or disposed of with desk appearance tickets, which suspects simply laugh off.

by Anonymousreply 10November 11, 2021 4:37 AM

American black people are exhausting.

by Anonymousreply 11November 11, 2021 4:52 AM

Eric Adams could become the Democrat that not only survives the current political climate but thrives. He isn't going to respond to riots like the current mayor did. He might be the law and order Democrat that can win, in these times.

by Anonymousreply 12November 11, 2021 5:23 AM

Absolute BS^. Just watch, white gay woke. Just watch.

by Anonymousreply 13November 11, 2021 5:41 AM

So we're still believing anything that comes out of the NY Post?

by Anonymousreply 14November 11, 2021 6:20 AM

What OP didn't mention was that the NYPD Stop and Frisk program found a gun during 1% of the stops. That means it's an extremely ineffective way of getting guns off the street, even if you hate black/brown people and think they should live without dignity. Adams would be a complete and utter fool if he restarted such an ineffective program. Bloomberg only supported it because he suffered from that infallibility delusion so many rich people have (in his mind it was impossible to make a bad decision).

by Anonymousreply 15November 11, 2021 6:29 AM

BLM wants more violen e and rooting so that they can rake in the money.

by Anonymousreply 16November 11, 2021 6:38 AM

R15

The point of stop and frisk was to force black criminals to leave their illegal handguns at home most of the time, not to take all the illegal gun owners into police custody. In any event, that's not the policy that BLM and Adams are arguing over. Stop and frisk was done away with by Di Blasio well before June 2020.

by Anonymousreply 17November 11, 2021 6:56 AM

I like how Adams told BLM to actually do something for the black community by trying to reduce violence in the community themselves. Adams looks like the old-school kind of black leader who wants to help the community to do better while BLM is only interested in the whitey blame game. As if we're responsible for 56 percent of murders in this country being attributable to black perps.

by Anonymousreply 18November 11, 2021 6:58 AM

He isn't very bright tough. He will soon lose the white liberal support if he wants to play terrorist.

by Anonymousreply 19November 11, 2021 7:02 AM

She's big thru the hips, roomy.

by Anonymousreply 20November 11, 2021 7:04 AM

Crime hurts black people most: not only because they're the main perpetrators, but also because they're the principal victims.

These ridiculous grandstanding BLM demagogues need to be pulled by their own before they cause more hurt to their communities.

by Anonymousreply 21November 11, 2021 7:12 AM

New Yorkers are such dummies electing the fox to run the hen house. You're BEGGING a return to black citizens being massacred in their foyer by dozens of peace officer bullets for the crime of pulling their keys out to unlock the door to their own residence. Or blasting the life out of a fiance and a best man leaving a bachelor party because the car they were approaching to drive home looked too luxurious to belong to a couple of black men.

by Anonymousreply 22November 11, 2021 7:17 AM

R11 Someone is ignorant on US history.

I wish white people were as outraged to racism than outraged over black people fighting anti-racism.

by Anonymousreply 23November 11, 2021 7:31 AM

R23 He told how people feel, not lies. Doesn't mean that these people are racist, but there is a thing that is called compassion or empathy exhaust, not sure which is English term. I noticed that there was a big support to BLM and black people by large number of white Americans after George Floyd killing. But people soon lose interest and go back to their own problems. Of course there is hypocrisy as well. Some people joined the movement while it was fashionable.

It is typical for any community, not only in your black-white relations in US. I think that liberal media made a great deal of damage to Black people by giving space to poor little rich actors, rappers, academics, even a royal couple with biracial wife who are wining about not racism. People, mostly struggling to survive, see rich privileged people pretending to be victims and here is the first exhaust. They forget that the majority of Black people really is victim of racism when they see some mediocre actor complaining over not getting his Oscar because of racism. Then they give space to some crazy anti white racist female academics who talk about killing whites in the streets or measures to decrease the white population. Free and frequent expression of anti white racism is the biggest enemy of BLM cause.

And this guys threatens with terrorism. I think it is stupid tactics on testosterone, because BLM has still a great support in white liberals. But the moment that sympathetic masses feel threatened they would become enemies. It is just the human nature.

by Anonymousreply 24November 11, 2021 8:32 AM

We'll soon find out who's in charge in this city.

by Anonymousreply 25November 11, 2021 8:40 AM

by Anonymousreply 26November 11, 2021 9:14 AM

[quote]I wish white people were as outraged to racism than outraged over black people fighting anti-racism.

Black people are not fighting racism. They're simply contributing their own racism and bigotry.

by Anonymousreply 27November 11, 2021 9:19 AM

R23 must add that slavery was ended thanks to white abolitionists. Obama was elected thanks to white votes. Last riots were so successful thanks to massive white joining. White people supporting the Blacks are not the same as anti black white racists. White liberals and anti racists are your biggest and most important allies and honestly without them, your struggle will not succeed.

Anti white racism and demonization of whites will lead you nowhere.

by Anonymousreply 28November 11, 2021 9:35 AM

We'll put more blacks on tv and in print advertising. That should solve the problems = Madison Ave.

If the Ten Commandments were posted all over the high crime areas, there would be no need for police - Evangelicals

Give them all reparations and there wouldn't be and crime - SJWs

Oh God, we need to get back in the news. People are forgetting about us and not sending us money - BLM

They'd better get their gains now, because next year, when we take over, they'll all be put in their places - Trumpsters

by Anonymousreply 29November 11, 2021 10:04 AM

American PoC must be the most over indulged, ignorant, entitled people on earth.

by Anonymousreply 30November 11, 2021 11:24 AM

“Black Lives Matter activists threaten riots…..”

This is why we hate you BLM! We are a modern society; we are not rioters, we are peaceful protesters.

by Anonymousreply 31November 11, 2021 11:28 AM

Here goes BLM being so extreme that they’re losing any white supporters they may have had.

by Anonymousreply 32November 11, 2021 11:30 AM

With the threat of these riots and the Rittenhouse riots, looks like BLM knows the big box stores are getting their inventory for Black Friday already. It’s so chilly though!

I suspect all protestations of racial injustice will be centralized to Best Buy, Target, Nike, and the liquor store.

After all, the best way to eliminate negative stereotyping is by enforcing the worst of it at the drop of a hat.

by Anonymousreply 33November 11, 2021 11:43 AM

This is one of the main reasons the Republicans will take over next year. Then, you can riot all you want; the police and military will have open season on you. The far left is only out for themselves and fuck any other subunit.

R30, given how they’re currently trying to destroy democracy just to hold on to power, I’d say American whites still hold that title but thanks for playing.

by Anonymousreply 39November 11, 2021 12:31 PM

BLM: God’s Gift to the Republicans

by Anonymousreply 40November 11, 2021 12:44 PM

R39 Some small percentage of whites rules US and world, but the majority is underprivileged just like other races.

But the point is that POC are minority fighting for equality in society. When you are doing this you have to be wise. A lot of black people that get access to media are acting childish, playing toxic victim game and show they are equally racist (anti white) as some white racist hillbilly is anti black. This BLM leader is not competent, he thinks with his dick wanting to play some macho terrorist and he can only help bringing Trump back.

A competent leader knows there must be some compromise. And as someone mentioned, black people, particularly women and children are the major part of victims of black criminals and we don’t see any efforts in facing this problem.

So, there must be other ways of combating racist police brutality. One Martin Luther King was worth thousand of this testosterone twats.

by Anonymousreply 41November 11, 2021 12:47 PM

This is... a pretty racist thread. I'm annoyed that you're proving the annoying trolls correct.

Poverty causes crime. Poverty is historically endemic in black communities in cities in the US for very obvious and current policy reasons. It was so with Italians and the Irish in NYC. We need to address systemic poverty in the black community.

I think education and nutrition are the best solutions. I wish we could focus our energy and policy on those problems.

by Anonymousreply 42November 11, 2021 3:41 PM

Addendum, the NYC Irish used the police force to pull themselves out of poverty, ironically. So there's that...

The Italians created their own police force and political networks.

by Anonymousreply 45November 11, 2021 4:01 PM

[quote]We need to address systemic poverty in the black community.

Perhaps the black community should stop blaming poverty, slavery, "racism", White folk, Jews, Asians and everyone/thing else for their misfortune, begin to look inward at its behavior and actions and start to take responsibility for both.

by Anonymousreply 46November 11, 2021 4:01 PM

Blacks could always try committing less violent crime if they don’t want to be the targets of anti-crime efforts. But apparently they’re not able to, so the only explanation is that it’s genetic.

R44, yes. Asians have insane gang issues in the Bay Area and crime as high if not higher than any poor black area. Same as white trash and Latinos. Jesus fucking Christ, you're obtuse.

Poor people steal. They steal out of desperation. I know you can't believe this. But you're a bad person, so fuck you.

And yes, some rich people swindle. Usually when they're on their last legs.

Almost every black person in the US is damn near half white, so get off it, racists.

R66 No, Asians and Latinos commit far less violent crimes than Black men. Search for statistics.

by Anonymousreply 68November 11, 2021 6:10 PM

Different situations. Blacks descended from slaves are the underclass of US society. Our version of Roma (gypsies) or Dalits (untouchables). Other groups come here and integrate generally. This is basic in group/out group dynamics. Fundamentally, most BLM leaders don’t want to change the paradigm, they just want to be the in group (and have others be the out group).

I’m not sure what is going to work, but at least we are making some progress. Don’t hold your breath for a Dalit president of India or Gypsy Prime Minister of France.

by Anonymousreply 69November 11, 2021 6:43 PM

[quote]Our version of Roma (gypsies) or Dalits (untouchables).

by Anonymousreply 70November 11, 2021 6:46 PM

R68, reported and tried crimes. The original contention was that "you don't see Asians committing crimes", rioting shooting looting. I argued that Asians in fact do have gang issues - with drive by shootings - the same as the black community. While it's true they don't have as many reported violent crimes, you in fact do see the same behavior.

by Anonymousreply 71November 11, 2021 7:02 PM

Give it up, R71. You’re pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 72November 11, 2021 7:24 PM

Laotians and Cambodians are the stereotypical gangs in the west coast and they are poor asians, cant compete with other asians because they are poor, yet cant avail of affirmative action, coz they are not the right ethnicity. Poverty alleviation and education is the answer, nobody is denying that. I still want to live and walk around safely and in peace. Just like criminals, I have rights too even if I can afford an iphone. We cant keep on excusing bad behavior by saying criminals are poor and they have no control over them being a dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 73November 11, 2021 7:29 PM

You can hate the crime, but if you want to stop the criminal - who is in fact a human being- one has to change his motivation for committing the crime. We have disproven that it is some innate, racial mentality. You're wasting time with that nonsense. But if you demand that it be mentality- guess what? The only proven solution is the same as if it were endemic poverty and lack of resources.

Or you can be irrationally racist and move out of the city, just don't stay and bitch and waste time.

by Anonymousreply 74November 11, 2021 7:45 PM

[quote]You the crime amongst blacks is bad now? Once they get reparations, you will see disaster, and that disaster will slither into wealthy suburbs.

by Anonymousreply 76November 11, 2021 8:11 PM

Gypsies are terribly dicscriminated against in Europe, believe me, they don't have rights and support that Blacks get in US.

by Anonymousreply 77November 11, 2021 8:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 78November 11, 2021 8:16 PM

Eric is already making enemies and pissing people off. In 2020, BLM protestors were adamant that BLM had nothing to do with the rioting, burning, and looting that took place. They blamed it on opportunists who were hiding within the peaceful BLM protestors.

In 2021:

[qoute]we are going to take to the streets again. There will be riots, there will be fire and there will be bloodshed because we believe in defending our people,” said Hawk Newsome, co-founder of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, after a heated meeting with Adams in Brooklyn Borough Hall.

LOL! God, there's no doubt your psycho ass is in the Rittenhouse threads defending that loser.

Honey, do you live in the present? Are you one of those who hops onto the accomplishments of individuals who happen to be white? You had nothing to do with what they did. The current version of the white man allowed a very stupid, incurious low-life like Donald Trump to ascend to power.

by Anonymousreply 99November 11, 2021 9:51 PM

No, Asians don't commit crimes in large numbers. They are 11 percent of the population, so just a couple of percentage points below the Black population.

I do think that racism has something to do with the social dysfunction of the Black community--you have a history of Black enterprise being pretty brutally quashed, so there hasn't been a lot of incentive to buy into the system. That said, the current enshrinement of Black victimhood doesn't really help. Particularly since the high crime issue actually hurts Blacks more than anyone else.

Anyway, some actual facts in this mess of a thread.

Adapting the ideas of Marx, borne of the Enlightenment, and combining them with native Confucian ethics to build a superpower certainly shows a LACK of critical or free thinking. I know creativity and it's the province of the White Man!

Black men served this country and all you have to do is look at how the GI Bill that was supposed to benefit them, didn't. You have walls put up all around you even after you serve this country and others have the nerve to act as though the ramifications from that treatment don't go on for generations?

My God, even NOW the NFL was shown how racist it with their "race norming" where they gave less of a payout to black players with injuries.

I think the point this poster was trying to make is that Asians tend to be submissive to authority. And they do as they are told by their governments without questioning it. The Chinese, for example, still have a Communist government because they haven't tried to rise up and squash it the way Eastern Europeans did in 1989.

by Anonymousreply 103November 11, 2021 10:07 PM

Yes, exactly. R101 didn't read with comprehension. I acknowledged capability and high intelligence of Chinese people. Along with Koreans they are the brightest people around. They are developing so fast , are organized and diligent and are conquering the world. Wherever they immigrate, no matter the bad conditions they adapt soon and organize themselves and are the most productive and peaceful citizens.

But no, their culture and tradition doesn't encourage individuality and thinking out of the box. They excel in technology, but they don't question very much the society and tradition and established rules. And no, their economy is not based on Marxism, it is based on crude capitalist exploit, which Marx criticize.

Whereas, European and their descendants have so far been more creative and prone to exploration of new things. That is what I meant.

by Anonymousreply 129November 12, 2021 12:28 AM

The media and activists are responsible for perpetuating the lie that police “unfairly” target young black men. Young black men actually commit 50% of all violent crime in this country, but make up — what, 7% of the total population?

Unarmed black people are also not killed in disproportionate numbers by cops. That’s the biggest lie that’s been perpetuated. Something like 50% of self identified liberals (including the gay men r128 mentions) think thousands upon thousands of unarmed black people are killed by police each year when the real number is like 17.

by Anonymousreply 130November 12, 2021 12:33 AM

I'm black and all the black people I know, me included, want safe streets and neighborhoods, just like everyone else. In my mind (and I may be naive) there is no war between black people and the police. There is a problem between black people and racist cops and those who protect them. There are ways to reinstate the anti crime units without them becoming a racist free for all, people just need to be willing to do the work.

by Anonymousreply 137November 12, 2021 1:01 AM

A common misconception from both the MAGAts here and their allied liberals is that only anarchists and BLM protestors are at war with the pigs. That isn't true.

There have been numerous examples over the last few years of confrontations between the police and the Black community in NYC that have involved no activists and no professional agitators. The tensions in the hood are a fact of life in these communities. Those expressions are shown not by who they vote for, but for their lack of participation in our election system. NYC has one of the lowest voter participation rates in the country. Slightly over a quarter of all eligible NYC voters voted in the last election. The US loves to claim that Iran's elections are illegitimate despite 51% participation rate. What does that say about the mayoral election or off year state and city elections?

By not voting, people in these communities have shown how they really feel about the system. They do not see it as legitimate or capable of addressing their needs. Eric will be coming up against this fact of life the minute he is sworn into office. It will not end well for him or the people who propelled him to Gracie Mansion from his abode in New Jersey.

Black people aren’t pro-crime. They don’t want that portion of their community ruining it for the rest of them.

Today on the UES, two stores on Madison Avenue were robbed in plain daylight by groups of thugs who just came in and took armfuls of $$ merchandise. That’s not counting the smash and grab at Givenchy yesterday where they stole $80k on merchandise. It’s gotten so that many stores will stay locked and buzz people in. We can’t run a city this way.

The new DA is claiming that he won’t be prosecuting thefts like this.

Time for some FUCK AROU D AND FIND OUT.

by Anonymousreply 140November 12, 2021 1:09 AM

In the Twin Cities MN there's a huge Asian gang issue. Also substantial amounts of domestic violence in their communities. Plus the trafficking of minor girls brought in from overseas to be forcibly married to older Hmong men here. Local law enforcement has been keeping a watch for several years on young Hmong girls flying into the metro - long before sex trafficking became an international crusade.

However. This shit's not specific to any ethnicity. If it's connected to anything, it's connected to immigrant/refugee communities. People are uprooted and moved to a new country and culture. Adults don't know the language and customs, but their kids catch on fast, so they end up depending on their kids to help them navigate their strange new world. That gives their kids power over their parents, which means they don't obey them. They're poor, they run on the streets, they form gangs and commit crimes to get the stuff other kids their ages have.

And the stressed and dysfunctional immigrant/refugee families experience a lot of domestic violence and child abuse as a result of the stress.

Throw in the cultural differences, such as the cases where marrying minor girls to old men, and the practice of polygamy, and you've got a recipe for trouble.

In the past, the families would mostly adjust to the new culture within a generation or two. I really do think the internet and cheap airfare is making that adjustment harder, because immigrants/refugees can keep in touch with the old country and old culture much more easily than they could in the old days.

by Anonymousreply 141November 12, 2021 1:11 AM

Yes it's the Post, but this reporting is not terrible. Among the highlights:

[Quote] Newsome’s incendiary statements and criticisms of the national Black Lives Matter movement have earned him international headlines but also made him a pariah among leaders of the civil rights cause. And the IRS yanked his group’s charitable status for failing to file financial reports, The Post has learned.

[Quote] “Hawk Newsome has no relation to the Black Lives Matter Global Network … and is not ‘president’ of BLM or any of its chapters,” said Kailee Scales, a managing director of Black Lives Matter Global Network, in a statement on the group’s Web site last year.

[Quote] He calls himself a grassroots organizer, has railed against vaccine mandates (which he has labeled “racist),” and notes on his Web site that his organization “was the first group in NYC to endorse Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.”

Regardless of what BLM and the identity politics racists perpetuate: It's not a war white against black. It's sane against the insane, who are sadly supported by large parts of the media because outrage creates clicks. BLM spokespersons always seem to me like someone who threatened to set his own ass on fire, and you are so close to saying: You do you. They would love a hard crackdown on this because then they would be given reason to complain about police brutality. There is no way out for a city government unless you decide not to care for them. They behave like trolls; you cannot appease them.

Eric Adams is a stealth Republican.

by Anonymousreply 147November 12, 2021 1:34 AM

Thing to watch about all this overall is the rise of Brooklyn (with its sizable African American/POC numbers) as a political force.

Brooklyn put Adams over as mayor, and has been instrumental in past mayoral and Albany races.

Population of blacks is declining in Manhattan, but holding steady and or growing in Brooklyn. Then you also have point tons of white and other non-black "BLM supporters" make Brooklyn their home.

Brooklyn has added a fuck ton of new housing over past two decades, and more is coming. That population growth means borough cannot be ignored politically, and has other repercussions for city hall if not NYC as a whole.

[quote] It’s gotten so that many stores will stay locked and buzz people in

Lol, that what it WAS in the 80s and 90s. You literally had to have the door opened for you by a security guard. You had to check any bags you were carrying, except a purse. If you’d bought some socks at another shop you had to hand the bag to the security guard and he’d give you a number. When you finished shopping, he’d give yiu your bag and let you out. Stores replaced their doors with very heavy doors that were difficult to push in or out. This was in all kinds of shops, not just ritzy ones on Madison Ave. Orva, Strawberry’s, Daffys, Footlocker. It was called “wilding” back then. Shops near subway stations were especially susceptible because young men would run in, grab stuff, run out & run right into the subway station, hop on a train and be gone. The Manhattan mall in midtown (was the A&S mall back then) was hit so many times they had security guards inside stores and lots patrolling the mall itself on every level, looking like they were in Nam keeping an eye out for Charlie. I saw a gang that had successfully hit a store - don’t know which store, but they had a bunch of clothes — run down the steps to the subway and jump right on a train. All within seconds while I sat there eating my McLean burger. There was no way guards could’ve caught them, it happened so fast.

So you’re not predicting anything new for NY. Been there, done that. Literally. And NY was just as pricey to live in back then as it is now, factoring inflation. So it wasn’t like we were paying $500 a month for an apartment while all this crime was going on around us. We were paying $1600 -1800. I watched people casually steal cars from my apartment window. We’d wake up in the morning to a streetful of cars with their windows broken and their radios missing. Seriously, people used to steal car radios, of all things. Funny to think of, but serious back then. My building was broken into so many times I kept a $20 bill out in plain sight so when I came home I’d open my door just a crack and when I saw the $20, I’d open the door all the way and go in. If I didn’t see the money, my plan was to call 911 from a pay phone. One day we all had to literally hop over a homeless guy who’d broken into the locked lobby door and was sleeping on the lobby floor. And it was like…… totally normal.

R9 here...

Spoke to a neighbor yesterday evening who saw same guy who jacked Rite Aid other morning walk (not run) out of same store that morning with two huge shopping bags.

Bit later she saw him again at M79 bus stop at Third and 79th waiting to board bus. When it arrived the guy got on (without paying), and she looked down at contents of his bags; they were filled to capacity with Hagen Daz ice cream.

This man was *NOT* going to eat or keep all that ice cream, but again it was what everyone already knows. Stuff is fenced to bodegas and other places who buy for pennies on dollar, then resell.

Again this guy is at that Rite Aid every morning doing his "shopping" at 6AM sharp soon as they open. Employees, rent-a-cop security and even LE know his MO, and so far not a fucking thing has happened to put an end to his or anyone else's thieving

Rite Aid on UWS is closing, and I don't wonder why, and expect more to follow. Shelves in many Rite Aid, CVS, Duane Reade and Walgreens locally are bare to totally empty. People are just walking in and clearing out entire shelves, freezer or refrigeration cases of goods, then walking right out front door.

When you look at demographics in many areas (including NYC) blacks aren't a huge population demographically, and often are in decline. It is only because liberal, progressive whites have jumped onto that BLM bandwagon that said cause has any real weight.

Liberal whites just as before will continue to co-sign onto this movement until things begin affecting themselves. Once that happens to great extent we shall start hearing a different story.

The number of *unarmed* black people shot by police in the United States this year was 4. FOUR. That's all. I'll link to the Washington Post's police shootings database so you can check for yourself.

The police in the US need training on de-escalation and more restraint in use of force. And some departments seem to act like they are mobsters running a protection racket - however, there is no epidemic of police shootings of unarmed black men.

This is why I’m not a fan of Democrats. They have no ability to lead. They let people like those in the OP say things like that because they’re taking money from them and they’re scared to piss off a big part of their base.

I think that’s where the phrase “we don’t get the President we want, we get the President we deserve” comes from.

I totally get why Trump got elected. Sometimes you just need an old white guy with a bunch of money who isn’t afraid to speak his mind. It’s perfect because nobody is afraid to dissent with him lest they be attacked.

And just my two cents on the racial discussion: I hesitate to ease into this discussion because of how sensitive it is, but honestly I think it has more to do with the lack of positive male role models in the Black community and so many young black men being raised solely by their mothers. I think “poverty” is too broad of a generalization; to keep perspective most of this country is made up of low income white people. There are whole states that are primarily white that don’t have anywhere the level of violence that Chicago or the Bronx have on a given weekend.

I think when you grow up constantly hearing your elders complain about white people you don’t ever learn accountability because you think no matter what you say or do it doesn’t matter. So you’re free to be indulgent.

That’s why I think black people and white people constantly talk past one another. Because I think most of us can acknowledge due to this country’s racist and discriminatory past, Black people have been disenfranchised and disadvantaged for decades and that will result in a certain amount of economic inequality. But it’s literally within your control if you have a bunch of kids you can’t afford, don’t emphasize education and families staying intact, glorify degeneracy in music and film, and if you decide to pick up a gun and shoot and kill someone, there is no white man helping you pull the trigger.

I think there’s too much feminine energy in the Black community and that’s just one white man’s opinion. Women are wonderful and to be cherished, but they don’t know how to take accountability. They will blame everybody in the world for their problems before they blame themselves. The world has a certain amount of sympathy for women so they can get away with it. Men with no sense of accountability are dangerous, though. Because not only are they capable of doing way worse, but the world is way less forgiving.

by Anonymousreply 182November 12, 2021 10:04 AM

Any other sweeping generalizations you want to make R182? Damn, aren't you just a treat. I love how Americans love to turn, mainly, socioeconomic issues into issues of race. Everything you just wrote about the "black community" is just as prevalent in the "white community" or any other community, but the difference is for people like you the worst of the black community IS the entire black community. Poor and struggling people, who make choices that keep them trapped as poor and struggling people, act similarly regardless of complexion.

by Anonymousreply 183November 12, 2021 10:47 AM

R183 I meant no disrespect to the Black community, but this article is about the head of BLM threatening violence if NYPD starts policing “like they used to”. Young black men are the biggest perpetrators of gun violence in this country. And while you’re absolutely right a lot of what I said applies to every other race to some extent, it’s really only the Black community being pandered to as if they have no power to stop some of this. And I don’t even entirely blame them for that — I started my post by criticizing Democrats. Instead of actually trying to help Black communities improve, they just whisper sweet-nothings in their ear, Black people pledge their undying fealty to them, and reliably attack anybody who doesn’t sell them a bill of goods.

by Anonymousreply 184November 12, 2021 11:54 AM

Those saying NYC is dead are just out of touch. It is different than it was when you were young, but it is still totally alive with thriving art scenes, countless things to do, amazing shopping you don’t get in other cities, and interesting culture/food options.

If you live here it is still amazing. The young, creative types are out in deep Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem and the Bronx. There are amazing artists and musicians who show/perform all over the city (just not in mainstream Manhattan venues). If you want high end art, world class museums, or mainstream entertainment, it’s still huge in Manhattan.

At first, it seems that CVS, target and Starbucks has taken over. This is true in the village and Chelsea, but go Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Fort Green, or Astoria and it’s full of affordable interesting and quirky shops, cafes and restaurants.

Those of us who want nice things earn our money in Manhattan and spend long weekends at our homes in the Hamptons or upstate where we can escape the city and shop in high end stores in comfort.

Adams to terrorists: FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT.

by Anonymousreply 186November 12, 2021 12:04 PM

R183 Your view is politically correct, but is it true? There tend to be more violence in poor communities, but a lot depends on the mentality of some group of people. There are a lot of poor and unprivileged communities that aren’t violent. It depends on level of anger and I believe it is very toxic when people start to self victimize themselves and blame other groups of people. I know what I talk about, because before wars in Yugoslavia there was an intense period of self victimization of Serbians. So, people who were living peacefully started committing the worst atrocities against their neighbors. There were literally cases of people killing neighbors with which they were drinking coffee before war. In Serbian community it is rather easy to spark the self victimization, because of historical reasons that created mentality. They have a saying: All world against us. It seems to me that Black American people have this tendency of self victimizing which is strongly encouraged by white liberal guilt.

If White people lived under these kinds of conditions, they would explode too. Think about how the constitution explicitly forbids unreasonable search and seizures by the government and yet Fascist Eric wants to be bring back stop and frisk, which is a violation of the fourth amendment. The strictly limited return engagement of Slave Play will begin performances Tuesday, November 23 ahead of an official opening night of Thursday, December 2 for a strictly limited eight-week engagement through Sunday, January 23, 2022. Tickets for the eight-week engagement are on sale now at www.seatgeek.com/slave-play-tickets or by visiting the August Wilson box office.

Additionally, the production announced that the first Black Out performance for the Broadway return will be Friday, December 3. This private, invitation-only performance will allow the Black-identifying audience to experience and discuss the play free from the white gaze. Who will BLM raise the revolution with? White liberals? They would become more racist than hillbillies from the south if you truly wanted to change the society.

Most of revolution were fruit of decades of planning, calculating and organizing, waiting for the right moment. Lenin and gang waited until the end of first world war for the moment when the majority was hungry and had had enough of regime. Tito used 2nd world war, in which he led the strongest anti Hitler guerrilla in Europe and was backed by both Stalin and Churchill in the beginning. Mao Ze Dong used the chaos after 2nd world war. American founding fathers were backed by the strong majority and France. And so on.

Never has a minority successfully risen a revolution (at least if some strong foreign force wasn’t involved) that wouldn’t satisfy at least some basic needs of majority. But I appreciate your enthusiasm, it is obvious you are young.

R182 A lot of these 'black' problems are incredibly becoming 'white' problems. It seems like black people are 20-30 years ahead of white people in cultural and socioeconomic decay. Drugs, single parent homes, lack of employment opportunities are plaguing Americans at different rates, but everyone is trending downwards in mobility. I think the lack of fathers is a big problem but since the 70s, offshoring and redundancy due to automation disproportionately hit black men and black men are disproportionately imprisoned on drug dealing offenses which is rather emasculating. Overall, the single marriage household issue seems to be reversing, but not because marriage rates are going up, but because women are forgoing having children at all. It's interesting how we went from "there are too many people, the planet is overpopulated", to a projected live birth rate that rivals South Korea's 0.92 births per woman that will not be able to sustain our social security ponzi scheme.

The fact is that if a single BLM protester or a Muslim had done to the Capitol what thousands of white conservative assholes did, you'd already see legislation to punish entire groups of people who had nothing to do with the actions of that one individual. If it had been an Ilhan Omar who inspired that one Muslim or any black congressperson who had inspired the attack or Obama had said the things Trump did, you'd see arrests and punishment within the government. If you had seen them act the way Greene or Cawthorn or Gosar or Brooks have behaved, you'd repercussion. [Quote] Do you think you can successfully raise the revolution just like that?

There have been large, anti-police protests in the city and across the country for years, building up each year in intensity and power. These movements are not brand new and just developing. They have been mobilizing since at least Occupy Wall Street and then when Black Lives Matter began after the murder of Trayvon Martin. The riots of last summer came from the mobilization of the previous riots of Ferguson and Baltimore before it. They didn't just happen spontaneously or overnight.

[Quote] Do you think you don’t need at least silent approval of disenfranchised majority.

That approval is there in the form of people not voting, which is a form of disapproval of the system and an approval of an attempt to topple it. Popular systems have high voter turnout. Lower voter turnouts are signals of votes of no confidence. The US loves to point this out in regards to Iran's elections, but it is even more applicable here at home. The opposition to the movement isn't as strong as the media would like you to think it is. Last summer was the largest mobilization of people in the streets in US history, more than the civil rights movement of the 60's. That type of thing doesn't just peter it and die. It builds into a revolution if the demands of the people are not met (which they have not been, nor will be).

[Quote] Do you think you don’t need strong outside support and allies.

I'm sure China, Russia and a bunch of other countries would give their support if a conflict began. A destabilized US would circumvent any attempt by the US military to involve themselves in Taiwan or Ukraine, which is something both nations would desire and find to be a desirable outcome. They'd rather the fighting happen here domestically than on their shores. It's in their geopolitical interests to support an insurgency and they recognize this, hence their boosting of the riots last night on social media.

[Quote] Who will BLM raise the revolution with?

The poor, homeless, disenfranchised and all nations that see the US as an adversary, including ones that the US thinks of as an ally, but isn't, like the nations of the EU which were ready to place sanctions on us after Trump attempted a coup earlier this year.

[Quote] White liberals? They would become more racist than hillbillies from the south if you truly wanted to change the society.

White liberals opposed the American Revolution as well, but they eventually accepted it once it was a fait accompli or fled the new nation to Canada or the UK. Same thing would happen here.

[Quote] Never has a minority successfully risen a revolution (at least if some strong foreign force wasn’t involved) that wouldn’t satisfy at least some basic needs of majority. But I appreciate your enthusiasm, it is obvious you are young.

As I've said, don't assume that any revolution wouldn't have foreign backing. As more people come to realize that our system cannot provide adequate justice, there will be a revolt. It's not naivety, but an understanding of history. You'll see it soon enough.

[Quote] Your use of the word "pigs" kind of puts your objectivity and reasonableness in doubt.

I've never said I was objective, nor claimed to be, nor have to be to know what I'm talking about. Deal with it.

To those who assume that there wouldn't be immediate foreign involvement in any domestic revolt by groups like Black Lives Matter, Chinese and Russian state actors were stirring the pot last summer during the riots. They would be giving additional assistance as well, depending on how involved the groups get with the respective nations. Political and moral support are a given. Economic and even military support aren't out of the question either. The US would lose if a revolt occurred with foreign backing and a refusal of other nations like the EU to come to their aid.

R226 Comrade, Putin would support BLM if it would help him to destabilize USA, but it wouldn't help the cause. BLM are never gonna be the leaders of the disenfranchised masses in US, because they are sectarians and they are supported by a very law percentage of said masses.

You have a big problem in US, and that is the great racial divide. White liberals who have influence in media and institution are supporting the self victimization and anti white sentiments in black people turning them against all whites (of which majority is almost equally unprivileged as whites), not because they really have white liberal guilt, but because of divide and rule politics. On the other side conservative republicans have a great treasure in Trump that can attract poor whites (white trash as politically correct wokes call them) from parts of US that are living in 3rd world conditions. Of course, BLM will help rich minority to enhance the racist prejudices and fears in "white trash" and further push them in Trumps arms. The whites that fashionably support the BLM are not the whites with which you can make a difference. They are the "Change everything so everything can remain the same" type of revolutionaries. They want their place in society untouched, only with some Oscar for Will Smith.

If the BLM would hypothetically lead the revolution the bloodshed would happen between white, latino and black proletarians, and the it would soon be pacified. When socialist revolution succeed in ex Yugoslavia it was lead by Tito, a Croatian (with Slovenian mother ans Serbian wife) that was trusted by Serbs, Bosnian Muslims, Albanians from Kosova etc. He and communist party put class before nation and religion and that was the glue that kept Yugoslavia together. You know how it ended thanks to nationalist agitators.

by Anonymousreply 240November 13, 2021 1:22 PM

R240 I never stated outright how it would end or what would become of the US. I simply said there will be a revolt and it will have foreign backing, both of which are becoming more apparent. The question of who leads the country in the aftermath depends on what the country will specifically look like post war. It's possible that, to address such sectarian lines along race, religion and political affiliation, that the nation is split up and partitioned, the way Germany was after World War 2 or India's severance to create the state of Pakistan. To assume Black revolutionaries would lead the entire country is to assume that they have any such desire on a wide scale basis or believe the US' national integrity should remain in place.

R241 Or like the Yugoslavia, which split in six poor and insignificant, but nationally and religiously clean countries, to be the toys for Merkel and Putin to play.

Where are you from, R240? You're all over DL bloviating your opinions about life in the US, haughtily explaining us to ourselves (*snort*), yet you seem unable to communicate properly in our language. Here let me fix a few things for you.

THE US

A great racial divide

THE rich majority

THE majority

Trump WHO can attract

AS equally underprivileged

BLM (not "the" BLM)

Bloodshed (not "the" bloodshed)

SucceedED in ex Yugoslavia

HIS Slovenian mother

WHO was trusted

THE communist party

And at R245.......THE Grammar Nazi (thank you very much)

R248 You made such an effort, Grammar Nazi! Maybe you can correct my posts on DL and I can pay you to make them look prettier. Since you obviously have no life.
