How is he still a huge star ?
Leonardo Decaprio is ugly

He's very handsome and he's one of the most gifted actors of his generation.

Leo is fat and out of shape.

He was really cute when he was younger
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 28, 2021 5:52 AM |
He is not ugly, he is somewhat cute though not attractive, I am not much a fan but he has always been a fantastic, amazing actor, very skilled, his talent could never be denied.
People like him and Tom Hanks are definitely in the right profession.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 28, 2021 5:56 AM |
He hit his peak in Titanic as far as his looks, where he was gorgeous to look at, and that's when he became an A-list megastar. What I find interesting is how he has sustained his career since then despite losing his boyish good looks. The only actor you can compare Leo to is Tom Cruise, but I think Leo is more respected in Hollywood than Tom.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 28, 2021 5:58 AM |
He's even more handsome in middle age. Best actor of his generation too.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 28, 2021 6:02 AM |
He's not more handsome in middle age, he lost his looks a long time ago.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 28, 2021 6:21 AM |
He's not ugly and he's the most gifted actor of his generation.

OP is Stephen Dorff.

He doesn’t look good in Don’t Look Up.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 28, 2021 6:31 AM |
Someone needs to write an Orson Welles bio pic for Leo.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 28, 2021 6:32 AM |
He looks like a fat middle aged alcoholic.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 28, 2021 6:33 AM |
His looks are gone, but he can act.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 28, 2021 6:34 AM |
He'll probably get his gazillionth Oscar nod for Don't Look Up. He's said to be fantastic in it.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 28, 2021 6:39 AM |
Isn't that what he is R14?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 28, 2021 6:40 AM |
I like Leo a lot, too, but best actor of his generation? Really? Better than, say, Joaquin Phoenix?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 28, 2021 6:45 AM |
R18, I think Leo is definitely the most respected. He can get any film made and he's the top choice of just about any director. Look at his filmography. He only works with the finest.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 28, 2021 6:47 AM |
Looks-wise he's morphing towards De Niro.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 28, 2021 7:15 AM |
If Rod Steiger could look like that, why not Leo?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 28, 2021 7:17 AM |
ITA, op.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 28, 2021 7:17 AM |
R21 Except his face doesn't seem to be developing character as he ages.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 28, 2021 7:25 AM |
R24 Precisely my point: even make-up and a good photographer can't give him a face with character.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 28, 2021 7:33 AM |
You don't think those hooded eyes are characterful?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 28, 2021 7:41 AM |
The more he ages, the more he looks more like his father. When he was younger, he looked like his mother.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 28, 2021 7:52 AM |
I've never found him attractive. Not even for five seconds. Additionally, he's only halfway good in about four or five films, and "The Revenant" wasn't one of them.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 28, 2021 7:59 AM |
He was a pretty boy who hit it big before his looks faded.
Then he never did a paycheck movie again. Only did interesting movies with great directors. He basically was only willing to work with a handful of directors over the past 23 years. And he worked with Scorsese 5 times which is 30% of his post Titanic output.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 28, 2021 8:07 AM |
R19 But if you're casting a big-budget movie and you want a lead actor with a big name in his age range, your choices are pretty limited these days.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 28, 2021 8:12 AM |
Yeah, the haters are right.Leo is soooo homely. Poor bloke.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 28, 2021 8:20 AM |
Wow r28 his father looks like a younger Martin Scorsese, I wonder if they bonded over that.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 28, 2021 8:22 AM |
He looks like a boil that needs to be lanced.
And for those who think he used to be something, then he only looked like a pimple that needed to be popped.
He's an ugly motherfucker who acts with such extreme effort that it hurts to watch.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 28, 2021 8:39 AM |
If he is ugly then about 98% of men on this planet are ugly too.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 28, 2021 9:04 AM |
Is he gay ?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 28, 2021 10:09 AM |
Leo’s eyes look sad
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 28, 2021 2:59 PM |
He had a delicate beauty when he was young. Now he looks like an inbred bulldog.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 28, 2021 3:59 PM |
He looks like a 🐷
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 28, 2021 4:06 PM |
R41, calm down Billy Zane. I'm sure someone will cast you again one day.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 28, 2021 4:17 PM |
Joaquin and Leo are equal in talent, IMO. Their strengths are just different. Joaquin excels at playing the broken, the twisted, and the walking wounded with extraordinary depth and empathy. Joaquin takes a lot of Sean Penn type of roles but he has a sweetness and guilelessness that Penn lacks and this only adds to the complexity of his characters.
Leo can play the straight man (hee), the everyman, and authority figures convincingly despite his boyish countenance. He also excels at fringe dwellers. Leo was really cute in his early twink years and is still reasonably attractive.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 28, 2021 4:39 PM |
Leo is a magnificent actor. His scenes with Julia Butters in Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood are the kind that will show up on his lifetime achievement reel one day.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 28, 2021 5:43 PM |
He was hot, a 9, when he was young, whereas OP has never been in her entire life. SAD!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 28, 2021 6:20 PM |
He has a small ding-a-ling. You can see it in that Total Eclipse. A movie where he was totally out of his element aka period piece.
He was a shoo-in for the role because River Phoenix was unavailable. He died / ODd / was murdered by Johnny Depp in front of the Viper Room.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 28, 2021 6:24 PM |
He's still hotter than you, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 28, 2021 6:27 PM |
He, like JLaw is not much of an actor at all, but because he can passably emote, is considered good.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 28, 2021 6:27 PM |
r46 River Phoenix would've been too old for Total Eclipse.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 28, 2021 6:57 PM |
He showed a lot of promise as a youngster, but started phoning it in after Titanic. The people who consider modern day DiCaprio a great actor must be on the autism spectrum.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 28, 2021 7:07 PM |
He was once hot, but as an adult is below average and his body is a mess. As an actor, I don’t think he is that good. It always seems to me to be Leo being himself rather than becoming a character.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 28, 2021 7:11 PM |
He's a beautiful man. I don't know how this is debatable. Some of y'all need to look in the mirror before criticizing Leo.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 28, 2021 7:12 PM |
I like Leo a lot (and still think he's cute -- sorry, OP) but I guess my only hesitation with calling him "the greatest actor of his generation" is that he's never done any stage work (or has he? maybe I missed it). I know it makes me old-school to think this way about it (I'm 56) but to me, when you're talking about someone in those kinds of elevated terms, then my mind goes to great actors of the stage as well as film -- Olivier, the Barrymores, actors like that. Acting on film is hard, no doubt, but the stage is where you really prove your mettle -- there are no 20 takes to get it right or someone who will "fix it" for you later in the editing room. It's just you and the words on a stage in front of an audience and I just have so much respect for actors who don't shy away from that challenge. Yes, I know actors on Leo's level don't "have" to do theater -- because why work that hard if you don't have to -- but they should also not be ordained with the title "greatest actor of his/her generation" either because they have not, in my opinion at least, really earned it when their aversion to risk dictates every move they make (and don't make).
Ethan Hawke and Mark Rylance are two modern-day examples of actors who are not only great on film but also on the stage. Each gravitates between both mediums with great ease that many could learn from. And of course there's Denzel Washington, who is without question one of the greatest of his generation and who has never feared putting his neck on the line artistically by appearing on stage. Whether or not one thinks he is successful at it is beside the point; at least he's not afraid to take the chance. That is why, in my opinion, it is actors like him and Hawke and Rylance (to name but a few) for whom I have more respect than movie stars like Leo who, when you put their career choices under a microscope, never really venture beyond the confines of their safety zones.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 28, 2021 7:15 PM |
He could look breathtaking in his prime, but only when photographed from a certain angle, with a certain facial expression, under certain lighting conditions. In Titanic I noticed that he tends to look better in natural light. Even then his face sometimes had a puffiness to it and his lips looked thin in 'indoor' scenes (e.g. the 'drawing' scene in Titanic).
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 28, 2021 7:15 PM |
I always thought he WANTED to be ugly after Titanic. He cut off his hair, started piling on the pounds, and changed his acting style from emoting mostly through his eyes to pulling ugly Jack Nicholson-esque grimaces. He SHOULD have been hot in The Beach, the first movie he acted in after the release of Titanic, but something about his demeanor in that film was extremely repulsive to me, and I remember thinking, 'He's doing that on purpose'. I felt like he was more concerned with NOT being 'Leo' than trying to actually disappear into the character.

[quote] People like him and Tom Hanks are definitely in the right profession.
Tom Hanks reminds me of those annoying middle aged nobodies who hang around golf clubhouses.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | November 28, 2021 7:48 PM |
You're right, R55. I don't think he was ever comfortable with the "sex symbol" status he got with Titanic. I also remember jokes about him looking like a lesbian around that period.
He wanted to prove that he was more than just a pretty face and could act. I consider him two-dimensional like Tom Cruise. What some may see as great acting from him, I view it as movie star screen presence and charisma, and Leo certainly has that.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | November 28, 2021 7:50 PM |
[quote] Now he looks like an inbred bulldog.
And next he will look Orson Welles.
And after that Jabba The Hutt.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | November 28, 2021 7:51 PM |
I love his anorexic lesbo look he had in Romeo + Juliet.
I remember seeing this film in the theaters. In the end all these teenage girls were crying. I guess they never read Shakespeare before then. I remember it was the #1 movie in America that week so I guess a year later when Titanic came out, he came became a Megastar

If there were an upcoming actor with the same looks and charisma as young Leo today, he would still become a superstar nowadays.

The most overrated actor on the planet. Looks, acting, everything.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | November 28, 2021 9:01 PM |
Trump "won."
Talent is measured by box office success or net worth. "You don't have an inflated number of billions like Jared and Ivanka, or the Kardashians, so who would ever listen to your poor ass opinion?"
diCaprio is "a magnificent actor" if your measure is box office and your idea of talent is emoting an excruciating shit. I have a dog who can do the latter, better, and with overlays of other emotions.
Trump has cleared the path for a nation of imbeciles to wander about sharing their big think tank ideas. Sure, his popularity stems from years before Trump, but Trump made it easy to cite $$$ or big tits as a good reason for any bad thing.

by Anonymous | reply 70 | November 28, 2021 9:07 PM |
I don’t think Leo is ugly, though to say he’s the greatest actor of his generation is a bit over the top. Better than Christian Bale? Not a chance

Really R70 , I ❤️ Tom, no,not the closeted one, the older one.
Bet you're the type who loves Bradley Cooper.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | November 29, 2021 1:57 PM |
Leo was kind of generic youthful pretty boy when he was younger. He was attractive but not really an object of lust for me. He didn't age particularly well. I've never been a fan but I always figured he had to be a great actor since he wasn't coasting on looks anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | November 29, 2021 2:10 PM |
He had two phases in life: a cookie removed from the oven before properly cooked, and a bowl of dough left to rise too long.

r1 = Lukas Haas
by Anonymous | reply 76 | November 29, 2021 2:48 PM |
I never found the younger pretty boy version of him appealing. He was terribly miscast in "Titanic" and not believable as a strapping romantic lead. Now that he's a bit older and weirder, I find him much more interesting and more watchable. He should have won the Oscar for "Wolf of Wall Street", IMO -- a smart, complex and off-the-wall performance.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | November 29, 2021 5:10 PM |
He was perfect in Titanic. He wasn't supposed to be a strapping romantic lead, but a 20-ish vagabond artist.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | November 29, 2021 6:09 PM |
He's supposed to be a very nice guy but I find that squeaky voice of his grating. He's been smoking three packs a day since he was 15 to bring it down but it's just no happening. He still looks and sounds like a man-child to me and when he cries - WHAAAAA! - I'm like, oh not again please, bring him the formula.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | November 29, 2021 7:45 PM |
His physical peak was The Departed, but I thought he looked good in The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street as well.

by Anonymous | reply 83 | November 30, 2021 2:34 AM |
Basketball Diaries Leo was beautiful (albeit young) but lost Titanic his looks began to slide as his waist expanded and he became this generations Jack Nicholson (Lakers court side fat fucker version). Leo’s gay and it’s weird he can’t just accept himself. It’s like he drinks and eats his emotions.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | November 30, 2021 2:48 AM |
Why do people act like Leo immediately lost his looks after Titanic? He was just as attractive in films like The Beach, Catch Me if You Can, and The Departed.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | November 30, 2021 2:52 AM |
Because he lost (cut) his luscious locks.

I think Leo operates on a masculine, straight bro crusade . Something happened to this guy to go from open, funny and many times pinging , to sullen, low energy sad man . His eyes show tremendous sorrow . I think he is gay and fights it off .
by Anonymous | reply 106 | January 13, 2022 9:31 PM |
Yeah, that's what's I'm thinking too, R106. Ever since the Titanic days, he's seemed DESPERATE to be taken seriously by straight men and be part of the "Old Boy's Club" of Hollywood. For whatever reason, he seemed more comfortable in his own skin before that.

99% of the criticism directed at DiCaprio seems like it's rooted in people being mad they can't fuck 22 year old Leo anymore. Time to get over it. He was attractive in The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | January 14, 2022 3:38 AM |
Someone posted a thread the other day linking to a website that shows different celebrities transformed by an app into the opposite gender.
Young Leo's face did not change *at all*; the AI just gave him long hair.
Maybe he was just pretty enough as a young person that he had his fill of feeling attractive to other people. I imagine as an adolescent in Hollywood, it probably attracted some very unwanted attentions from a lot of older men.
It's interesting to see how many women and men alike fight against nature to keep their youthful beauty, and then people like Leonardo DiCaprio, Marlon Brando, Kathleen Turner et al. appear to just be totally fine with going to seed as nature wants them to do.
