Early signs show that 'Spencer' is flopping

It seems KStew is keeping her long track record as box office poison!

[quote]Meanwhile, Neon released Spencer into 996 theaters in an unusually wide push for what is obviously an art house movie. The justly acclaimed Princess Diana Spencer biopic, starring Kristen Stewart in a role that might win her an Oscar, earned $760,000 on Friday for a likely $1.95 million opening weekend. That’s an indifferent $1,958 per-theater-average, which might hurt its Oscar hopes if this were a more conventional awards season.

YOU COULDNT PAY ME TO SEE ANYTHING STEWART IS IN.

eternals was a real shit fest. FLOP A ROONIE

by Anonymousreply 1November 7, 2021 5:54 AM

Eternals Audience score on RT is 84%. Audiences are liking it.

R1 that is $31 million ON FRIDAY. Not for the weekend. It’s exceeding expectations

by Anonymousreply 2November 7, 2021 5:56 AM

Is it on Netflix, yet?

by Anonymousreply 3November 10, 2021 1:33 AM

Sick of the DIANA MOVIES. LET HER REST IN PEACE CRIMINEY

by Anonymousreply 4November 10, 2021 1:44 AM

Who are the retards in Hollywood that keep trying to make this miserable, boring bitch happen? She is NOT a good actress and has NO personality?

by Anonymousreply 5November 10, 2021 1:46 AM

Elton John singing “Goodbye American Ragweed”.

by Anonymousreply 6November 10, 2021 1:48 AM

Because any Marvel movie is better than watching that tasteless bitch.

by Anonymousreply 7November 10, 2021 1:51 AM

I just had the immense displeasure of suffering through this steaming dog turd, and I can tell you it's everything you'd expect. They cast a mopey American lesbian as lead and she makes the character all about dreary Kristen Stewart, right up to a lesbian affair. If you'd enjoy watching a self-cutting, food regurgitating anti-social depressive sulking about a huge German great house ridiculously trying to masquerade as Sandringham then see this today. Oh yeah, fuck the director for making the Queen look like a nasty bitch.

by Anonymousreply 8November 12, 2021 6:15 AM

Yes. Stewart makes her seem so dour.

Even at her most depressed Diana had a kind of inner glow about her. Sort of like a deep hope that things would change.

by Anonymousreply 9November 12, 2021 6:34 AM

[quote]They cast a mopey American lesbian as lead and she makes the character all about dreary Kristen Stewart, right up to a lesbian affair

I had to look on Twitter to check if that was true. And guess what.......

by Anonymousreply 10November 13, 2021 5:52 AM

spoil it r10!

by Anonymousreply 11November 13, 2021 5:54 AM

I wrote on here months ago this movie would flop. However, I'm not sure we can use box-office the same way we've measured it in the past when it comes to awards. Even before the pandemic, the awards race was transitioning to the streaming world.

If she's not winning this year, who is? The Eyes of Tammy Faye came and went (it grossed $2.4M, which will eventually be less than Spencer's total take). Gaga is serving Camp. Penelope Cruz, Olivia Colman, Nicole Kidman, and Jennifer Hudson, already all have Oscars. Frances already has more lead acting Oscars than Meryl Streep (writing that never gets old).

GoldDerby has Stewart at #1 right now. And the normally awkward and shy Stewart is campaigning and putting herself out there. She wants it and has the reviews.

The only hope to defeat Bella Swan is Tessa Thompson for Passing, and it doesn't seem like her reviews were critical hosannas. Or if The Lost Daughter becomes HUGE (fat chance) and Colman is undeniable for a second win.

Barring a miracle, the Oscar is Stewart's to lose.

I loved Spencer. In a million years I didn’t think Stewart could act and I was shocked. She’s been terrible, laughable, in everything else I’ve seen. It’s Black Swan with the royals and like that film is utterly preposterous. I was laughing or interested to see what was next. Recommend.

by Anonymousreply 13November 13, 2021 6:26 AM

Ugh, I can't stand Stewart. She only portrays herself onscreen. There has to be other actresses they can nominate.

by Anonymousreply 14November 13, 2021 6:30 AM

I heard Oscar buzz for Best Actress for like a day. But the real Oscar Buzz going around now is Caitriona Balfe in Belfast. Same with Jaime Dornan. This could be his moment to catapult into the Hollywood big leagues.

by Anonymousreply 15November 13, 2021 6:37 AM

R15 Caitriona’s abortion antics are about to become news. She’s DOA once it’s in wide release that she killed two of Heughan’s sprogs.

by Anonymousreply 16November 13, 2021 6:39 AM

Isn't Catronina going for Supporting actress?

by Anonymousreply 17November 13, 2021 6:57 AM

I'll watch anything with KStew in it. She was born for the camera.

by Anonymousreply 18November 13, 2021 7:20 AM

They'll give Colman Oscar #2 before they give Kristen Stewart anything for this shit.

by Anonymousreply 19November 14, 2021 1:19 AM

[quote]Caitriona’s abortion antics are about to become news.

What in the fuck are you on about?

by Anonymousreply 20November 14, 2021 1:28 AM

Two Oscar-contending black-and-white films this year?! Why god?!

by Anonymousreply 21November 14, 2021 1:31 AM

Ugh I guess the Cait stans have arrived.

by Anonymousreply 22November 14, 2021 2:07 AM

Who is Cait?

by Anonymousreply 23November 14, 2021 2:10 AM

She has this same look in every scene in every movie she's ever made.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 24November 14, 2021 2:16 AM

I really enjoyed it. It's gorgeous to look at; good script; skewers the whole Royal lifestyle. And Kristen is very good.

Bonus: there's a killer jazzy score that has hints of "Rosemary's Baby".

It kinda is a Horror film.

by Anonymousreply 25November 18, 2021 6:42 AM

It was never going to be a blockbuster movie - not every film has to make hundreds of millions to be considered successful. What was the budget, and what was the final box office? That's what matters.

by Anonymousreply 26November 18, 2021 9:13 AM

Ugh UKguy is very patronizing.

by Anonymousreply 27November 18, 2021 9:33 AM

R27 and what about it?

by Anonymousreply 28November 18, 2021 11:53 AM

[quote] Eternals Audience score on RT is 84%. Audiences are liking it.

That is incredibly low for a RT MCU film.

by Anonymousreply 29November 18, 2021 12:03 PM

Some writers say that the Oscar is Stewart's to lose but Kirsten Dunst is getting good reviews for The Power of the Dog. Dunst has had many excellent performances that have been overlooked, like her role in Melancholia and in Fargo. She deserves an Oscar over that bitter hag.

by Anonymousreply 30November 18, 2021 6:09 PM

KStew...KWHOO???? Here comes GAGA!!!!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 31November 18, 2021 6:12 PM

I prefer anyone to win the Oscar over Stewart, even Gaga. I don't think Dunst will campaign as hard because she just had a baby (has 2 small kids now).

by Anonymousreply 32November 18, 2021 6:16 PM

r30, Dunst is going for Supporting while Stewart is in Lead.

r9, back in 1993, I got to stand 10 feet away from Diana for about 10 minutes; while I didn't get to speak to her, I was able to observe her the whole time and she absolutely radiated charisma and charm, beaming especially when her boys were around her. Even taking account of the fact that Diana is meant to be portrayed as near-suicidal in "Spencer," Stewart's portrayal is all Diana mannerisms without any of the charm that made her so beloved. The praise for Stewart's performance is patently silly.

by Anonymousreply 33November 18, 2021 6:20 PM

Dunst is supporting. You guys are lumping lead and supporting contenders together.

by Anonymousreply 34November 18, 2021 6:27 PM

R33 is so invested. He's going to be distraught when she loses.

by Anonymousreply 35November 18, 2021 6:47 PM

Plus she’s campaigning in Best Supporting, not Actress.

by Anonymousreply 36November 18, 2021 8:15 PM

[quote] He's going to be distraught when she loses.

Why would I be distraught when a performance I don't like loses?

by Anonymousreply 37November 18, 2021 8:22 PM

It's just no good without Robert Urich.

by Anonymousreply 38November 18, 2021 10:34 PM

[quote] Who are the retards in Hollywood that keep trying to make this miserable, boring bitch happen? She is NOT a good actress and has NO personality?

R5 Thank you. A perfect summary of Lady Gaga.

by Anonymousreply 39November 19, 2021 4:04 AM

Kristen Stewart when asked about the Oscars says she doesn't give a shit.

Well, don't take these roles, you miserable hag. She really should focus on independent films with dyke characters.

by Anonymousreply 42November 19, 2021 6:00 AM

Lol hause of fucci is apparently terrible, when was that last actress that one an Oscar for a terrible movie? Feryl in Iron cunt? Lol lady caca is no meryl.

by Anonymousreply 43November 22, 2021 6:22 AM

Sorry meant won*

by Anonymousreply 44November 22, 2021 6:22 AM

Most of the Best Actress candidates are in movies with poor reviews. Jennifer Lawrence and possibly Nicole Kidman look to be the only ones going in with well received films. (Olivia Colman also could get in I guess too.)

by Anonymousreply 45November 22, 2021 6:26 AM

R45 fuga is still no where near those actresses (even the bad ones) level.

by Anonymousreply 46November 22, 2021 6:29 AM

"I don't give a shit" means "Oh my god, I want to win so bad". Her cool girl act ain't fooling me.

by Anonymousreply 47November 22, 2021 6:46 AM

She didn't even watch any interviews or documentaries or read any books about Diana. She just watched The Crown. Why does this no talent bitch keep getting roles?

by Anonymousreply 48November 22, 2021 7:07 AM

Can you people watch a film without thinking about awards?

by Anonymousreply 49November 22, 2021 7:10 AM

Hard to see Caitriona Balfe nominated for her "acting". She is horribly miscast in Outlander and her awful acting and conatant shrieking ruin the show.

by Anonymousreply 50November 22, 2021 7:11 AM

[quote]What was the budget, and what was the final box office? That's what matters.

The budget was $18 million.

It has made a little over $9 million world wide.

But keep in mind, it's an indie. So far, it looks like (of course) it will make its money back.

by Anonymousreply 51November 22, 2021 7:19 AM

KStew ruined it with her juvenile/lesbonic "I don't give a shit" thing. Pretentious and self-serious institutions like Academy would never reward insolence.

by Anonymousreply 52November 22, 2021 10:05 AM

Because hetero Madden attracts more audience than homosexual KStew.

by Anonymousreply 53November 22, 2021 10:12 AM

R53 Yeah, 1000% hetero. Even when he's riding me!

by Anonymousreply 54November 22, 2021 5:58 PM

R53 Madden hetero? Oh my sides. 🤣

by Anonymousreply 55November 22, 2021 6:59 PM

She is fast becoming the female George "Box office poison" Clooney. Since 2013's Gravity, every one of his films was a flop. And Gravity's success had nothing to do with his participation.

by Anonymousreply 56November 22, 2021 7:05 PM

Stewart's post-Twilight domestic box office is abysmal: nothing she has starred in since the last Twilight movie was released in 2012 has grossed more than $18 million.

by Anonymousreply 57November 22, 2021 7:13 PM

I find it hard to believe she's been successful at all. I mean, look at her. So plain, basic and boring.

by Anonymousreply 58November 24, 2021 6:01 AM

Lol no idea where cait comes in r50 but okay. My biggest issue with her is that she’s greedy. She’s married and has been “having it off” with Heughan for almost a decade. Like, he’s clearly in love with her and just keeps waiting…

Wow, that is bad. For whatever reason, I'd not heard of Nordkirchen (I'm more well-versed in French chateaux), and I know they were never going to film at Sandringham, AND I know the pandemic is still ongoing, but this is just...I can't imagine it won't effect my suspension of disbelief.

Her acting stinks more than my pussy!

by Anonymousreply 63December 5, 2021 2:33 PM

I can't understand why Hollywood thinks KStew is still a draw.

Is the talent pool that empty that they have to use her?

by Anonymousreply 64December 5, 2021 2:36 PM

I remembered Stewart’s awful Twilight era work and walked in expecting something similar from her, but in fact I was impressed by her acting. I think I like this portrayal of Diana more than Emma Corrin’s in The Crown.

by Anonymousreply 65December 5, 2021 2:57 PM

Shill at r65

by Anonymousreply 66December 5, 2021 3:02 PM

R59 lmao Sam who's gay in love with her? Lmao. Sure.

by Anonymousreply 68December 5, 2021 4:58 PM

I liked her performance. Hated the movie. "Diana haunted by Anne Boleyn!"

by Anonymousreply 69December 5, 2021 5:55 PM

Are you one of those f*gs who thinks all straight men are gay, r68?

by Anonymousreply 70December 6, 2021 7:47 AM

It's a tough competitive year. I predict Stewart will be left off the list yet again. Her "I don't give a shit" comment didn't help her in the charm department.

by Anonymousreply 71December 6, 2021 8:00 AM

R70 Your rotted pussy reeks, homophobic fish cunt. Fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 74December 6, 2021 2:53 PM

I think, finally, outside of the Royal watching fraus, people have reached a saturation point with most things Diana related.

by Anonymousreply 75December 6, 2021 2:56 PM

I think it's more a timing thing. I know I have had more than enough of Diana for a while. This movie offers nothing new. The CNN mini series was really excellent as far as documentaries go. And honestly I thought this director's Jackie was crap. I will probably watch this if it makes it to cable. I'm looking for it to show up on one of the second tie steaming services in a few months.

by Anonymousreply 76December 6, 2021 2:57 PM

Just finished Spencer after having watched the most recent James Bond, Chastain’s The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and The House of Gucci yesterday.

Thought Spencer was absolutely TERRIBLE: was bored out of my mind and almost gave up at 3 different points throughout the film. I always finish films, but am wondering if this one was the biggest waste of 1&1/2 hours on film. The film was completely pointless, backed by weirdly dissonant music that did not match the scenes, and Kirstin Stewart was full of whispering monologues, sick behaviour and odd twitches and bizarre mannerisms that have totally turned me off her. (I was neutral prior to the film.)

Would recommend the other 3 films (and even 2020’s Eurovision for a diversion), but want to see nothing more of “Spencer” or Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 77December 7, 2021 1:05 AM

They want $19.99 to rent this thing? Pass.

by Anonymousreply 78December 7, 2021 6:17 AM

Why would anyone do that r49?

by Anonymousreply 79December 7, 2021 6:40 AM

I know, R78. It's ridiculous, especially when you know it'll be steaming on Netflix or Hulu or WTF ever.

by Anonymousreply 80December 9, 2021 5:02 PM

People kept getting annoyed with me for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 85December 10, 2021 2:56 AM

You did that in your living room, r85?

by Anonymousreply 86December 10, 2021 4:09 AM

ITA r77. The music is SO distracting.

There is not one moment of joy in the movie. Even in the scenes with Harry and William, KStew is not able to project one ounce of light in Diana's eyes.

The differences between the Diana episodes of The Crown and Spencer are so stark. There are just so many better portrayals of Diana and the royal family that the movie suffers greatly in comparison.

Lots of scenes of her puking, though.

I don't care for Gaga, but she was a campy blast in Gucci. I'd far rather see her her a nod than KStew.

Still haven't seen an Oscar bait movie that knocked me out. Power of the Dog came closest. I have high hopes for Licorice Pizza.

by Anonymousreply 87December 27, 2021 2:08 AM

Why is Angie Jo wearing a shirtwaist dress in OP's photo? Did she pay a hausfrau super idol?
