Eldergays tell me about Brandon Lee
I was only a young kid when he tragically died. How famous was he? Was he at his peak in the early 90s? Was his star on the rise at the time of his death?
I read his look for The Crow inspired Heath Ledger for The Joker.
Brandon was gorgeous with a nice body. Did he date a lot publicly?

He made like one movie and then died. He was moderately popular and then mostly forgotten after his death.

R5 he was the actor the writers of The Matrix had in mind to play the role that eventually went to Keanu Reeves.
He also was in talks with Marvel's Stan Lee to play Shang-Chi

I had such a crush on him. I watched the Crow on VHS, & bawled like a baby.

He was engaged to a pretty blond . He was a nice guy who didn’t deserve to die on set due to negligence

He's the son of famed martial artist Bruce Lee. "Enter the Dragon," etc.

I didn't know what to expect when I saw "The Crow," but even though it had a dumb superhero (superantihero?) story, it was incredibly impressive visually.

If he had survived, would Keanu be just as successful as he is today?

He was mostly known as Bruce Lee's son, but his career was picking up around the time of his death. He wasn't a great actor by any means, but he did have some charisma and likability on screen. But he was perfectly fine for action movies. Pretty easy on the eyes too.
I think he was much more suited for the Matrix movies than Keanu.

someone made a comparison of Brandon and Heath

R13 Of course. Keanu Reeves was very successful before MATRIX and didn't need MATRIX for his career. The career of his co-star Carrie-Anne Moss proves that MATRIX isn't a star maker for everyone.

I’m sure Brandon Lee would have gone on to do some huge films. I mean, most good-looking/established male leads tend to have 20- years careers. But like some mention, I’m not sure how well he would have turned out as an actor (but hell, there’s Keanu as enough proof). Brandon had a sort of philosophical bend, much like his father, so he hopefully would have remained humble.

When I was a teen I really got into Bruce Lee movies so I looked up some books about him in the library and learned he had two kids. I swear, not more than a week later, I saw an ad for Rapid Fire and though surely that couldn't be Bruce Lee's kid, but it was. A friend of mine knew he'd been in some Kung Fu TV specials as a teenager, and I was kind of excited to see him at the start of his career.
He was terrible in Rapid Fire though, such a bad movie. I was surprised he was in The Crow but the entertainment magazine articles about it made it sound like it was going to be pretty good.
Just happened to have the TV on one night and a CBS newsbreak came on (remember those?) saying he'd been shot and killed on set. Within seconds my friend called and we were both stunned.
I don't know what kind of career he would have had. He was cute but he wasn't that good of an actor. Much better in The Crow than Rapid Fire though, so he might have improved. I feel like he probably would have ended up with a series or two on TV.

I remember they had some little incidents before he died on the set. He was suppose to get married in Mexico right after the movie wrapped.

is Brad Pitt a reliable source?
Apparently he was friends with Brandon and said Brandon lived in Echo Park area of LA, drove a hearse and feared dying young like his father shortly before he got The Crow role

Some of you are forgetting he was the son of Bruce Lee. He would be taken care of and gotten roles no matter what had he lived. You forget about nepotism.
There was a ton of hype surrounding The Crow before it came out, with tons of press surrounding it as it was filmed. It was supposed to be big, and make him a massive movie star. It was a vehicle for him, after all. Sad that he died on that set while filming that scene where he gets shot many times.
He was also in Showdown in Little Tokyo in 1991 with Dolph Lundgren.

I re-watched this old episode of Unsolved Mysteries today. They lay out all the circumstances that lead to his death. It was a scenario of six freak things going wrong over six months.

You can watch it on HBOMax r36. If you’re into those awful cheesy white dudes beating down Asians in kung-fu movies from the 80s and early 90s before they started dying out

Bruce Lee himself was not pure Chinese. The irony is that his grandfather on his mother’s side (Grace Lee) was the daughter of a German Jewish man and a Chinese woman. He was considered Gwai-lo to the Chinese nationals. His mother was technically half German and he has Caucasian features. Then Bruce married Linda Caldwell who was of Swedish descent. The progeny would look like a Eurasian, which is exactly how Brandon looked. Brandon was a toe-head as a toddler.

Shannon was on Cuomo's show last week.
WOW on The Crow set they ran out of dummy bullets so they went out and got live ammunition! I'm shocked there were no charges and only a civil suit was filed

I remember watching Lost Highway in ‘97 & was struck by a sleazy-sexy guy in the film, Michael Massee. He was the one who accidentally shot Brandon. :(
