by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 20, 2021 1:47 AM |
I’m the green mist.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 20, 2021 1:49 AM |
I'm the deliberate attempts not to copy anything unique to the Universal horror films. The stories were in the public domain but certain aspects, like Karloff's monster makeup, were still copyrighted by Universal.
Movies!TV has been running all the Hammer horrors regularly this month.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 20, 2021 1:55 AM |
[quote] if it guarantees me a juicy part.
And a paycheck.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 20, 2021 1:55 AM |
Well, actresses were part of the prop department until 1975.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 20, 2021 2:10 AM |

I'm Bosley Crowther with the New York Times. I hate it all!!!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 20, 2021 1:38 PM |
I love these campy old movies; Peter Cushing is actually very good as Sherlock Holmes in Hound of the Baskervilles.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 20, 2021 1:42 PM |
I am the matte paintings of castles in gloomy, forested, mountainous backgrounds. Beautiful, but not realistic in the least.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 20, 2021 1:43 PM |
I'm Ingrid Pitt, Hammer's Queen of Horror despite only appearing in two of their productions.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 20, 2021 1:43 PM |
I'm the accents! Received pronunciation or Cockney - nothing in-between, lol.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 20, 2021 1:44 PM |
I'm the heaving lady melons in the décolleté costumes, which for some reason are worn as ubiquitous morning- and afternoon-wear by ladies and sported by every female servants' uniform.
Boobies boobies boobies.
You should see mine!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 20, 2021 1:45 PM |
I'm the inability or unwillingness of the studio ever to hire an attractive young man as the male ingenue.
Lee would not have it!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 20, 2021 1:47 PM |
I'm director Terence Fisher.
I brought color, sexual overtones and explicit horror to the genre.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 20, 2021 1:49 PM |
Christopher Lee was a very capable character actor in Tim Burton's films; makes you wonder why he never had much of a career outside of Hammer in his younger days.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 20, 2021 2:00 PM |

I'm the lead actress. I'm supposed to be a Victorian maiden, but I have a teased bouffant hairdo and tons of liquid eyeliner.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 27, 2021 12:09 AM |
I'm the wiglets, falls and other 60's hairpieces worn by the characters no matter what year the movie is set in.
Don't think I'm limited to the actresses. Although, at least most of them didn't bother with the glue on mutton chops and sideburns.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 27, 2021 12:58 AM |
I'm the first of November, you won't have to see me for another elven months.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 1, 2021 1:55 PM |
Don't forget David Peel, who played Baron Meinster in he Brides of Dracula. He was rumored to be very gay.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 1, 2021 2:23 PM |
R36 He's hot, so it is okay.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 1, 2021 2:44 PM |
I’m the prettiest, blondest, bustiest and most virtuous girl. And the only girl who survives Dracula’s reign of terror.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 1, 2021 3:16 PM |
I watched the Hammer Dracula series this past week, from the 1st movie to the bitter end. It was shocking to notice how Dracula's love interests declined over the years from young babes & attractive women like Barbara Shelley to ugly broads in bad wigs. Poor Dracula
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 1, 2021 3:37 PM |
You WISH you were Christopher Lee, hon.
I'm George Woodbridge!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 1, 2021 3:44 PM |
I'm the scarf Peter Cushing wore
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 1, 2021 3:48 PM |
I'm the modern productions (Let Me In, The Woman In Black, The Lodge, The Resident, etc.) that have the Hammer name and but don't really feel like a Hammer film.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 1, 2021 4:40 PM |
Working on horror movies must've felt like being the Walmart worker of the entertainment industry: low budget, expected to crank out a lot of content, little respect, etc. Granted, there are worse gigs in the world, but seeing how someone like Peter Cushing worked up almost to the end of his life makes you wonder if he *had* to keep working.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 1, 2021 11:24 PM |
I’m the splotchy red blood everywhere
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 1, 2021 11:56 PM |
I'm The Studio That Dripped Blood. Narrated by Hammer Horror veteran Charles Gray.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 10, 2022 6:18 PM |
I'm the Victorian or Edwardian era the film is set in!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 10, 2022 6:19 PM |
I'm Ingrid Pitt, pissed as hell at having my voice dubbed for Countess Dracula.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 10, 2022 6:31 PM |
R48 Should have shown your tits
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 10, 2022 6:37 PM |
I'm the occasional scene beautifully shot on-location at a real centuries' old castle. I'm one of the main reasons you're tuning in.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 10, 2022 6:39 PM |
I'm torture porn.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 10, 2022 6:43 PM |
I’m the vaguely Germanic but also vaguely Slavic setting. I am the mysterious “Mitteleuropa”.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 10, 2022 7:08 PM |
I’m Christopher Lee’s long swooping cape! Watch me at the top of the stairs!
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 10, 2022 7:24 PM |

[quote] I'm the inability or unwillingness of the studio ever to hire an attractive young man as the male ingenue.
Except for Anthony Higgins in "Vampire Circus" (1972), who I've been in love with since I was a boy.

I'm 9 years old, sitting in a theater, watching an actor getting a cage of hungry rats strapped to his face. I'm still terrified of rats, wild or domestic. What were my parents thinking, letting me go see this?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 11, 2022 2:19 AM |
I'm the pendulum about to slice through the white puffy shirt of the hero tied to a massive stone platform, about which a deep stone pit threatens.
All the boys in the audience are waiting for the reveal.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 11, 2022 12:53 PM |
I'm the classic novel that I am very loosely based on.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | October 11, 2022 12:59 PM |
R57 and 58 aren't even referencing Hammer films.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 11, 2022 2:00 PM |
R60 what movies are they referencing?
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 11, 2022 2:52 PM |
R58 is talking about Roger Corman's The Pit and The Pendulum from American-International Pictures the home of Frankie and Annette.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | October 11, 2022 3:59 PM |
Is R57 "Willard" (1971)?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | October 11, 2022 5:45 PM |
I wonder if R57 is referring to the film 1984 with John Hurt. There's a scene where a cage of rats is tied to his head to get information from him.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | October 11, 2022 7:05 PM |
R57 here. I think it was something to do with witch hunting in the olden times. There were other torture scenes, IIRC.
I'll ask the therapist after my next hypnosis session.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 12, 2022 6:46 AM |
You might be talking about Mark of The Devil.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | October 12, 2022 5:47 PM |
I'm the village pub that goes silent when a stranger walks in.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | October 13, 2022 2:15 PM |
I'm the midget - sometimes I'm the sidekick of the hero - sometimes I work at the pub - but I always wear tights.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | October 13, 2022 5:07 PM |

I the evil ivy creeping around the doorway blocking your escape
by Anonymous | reply 76 | October 9, 2023 3:15 PM |
R57 My dad used to drop me off at the movies. to watch horror films by myself. My friends weren’t allowed to see scary movies. I remember how the Blob and Village of the damned scared the crap out of me for yrs
When my parents went to see Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, they took me. I was nine. The scene where Blanche was starving to death still makes me shiver! What were MY parents thinking?????
by Anonymous | reply 77 | October 9, 2023 3:22 PM |
<- Joan had some stunning scenes in that movie. She used all of her 40 years of film acting experience. The starving scene; calling Dr. Shelby; and the final beach scene. And you totally believed she was a cripple.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | October 9, 2023 4:52 PM |
I'm the crossover with the films referenced in this thread.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | October 10, 2023 12:32 AM |
Rep 77: what were they thinking? My mother would drop my brother and I off at the movies. Lolita was playing at our local theater. They would not allow an unaccompanied child to view the film.
So she drove us over to the next town to watch WEHTBJ. Seen today Lolita seems very tame. Serving roasted rats and parboiled parakeets does not.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | October 10, 2023 8:21 AM |
Erratum: rep 57!
by Anonymous | reply 81 | October 10, 2023 8:22 AM |
To me the scariest thing in ANY Hammer Horror Film was Hazel Court.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | October 10, 2023 5:13 PM |
Is any station showing these this year? Because I totally need my fix of the dripping blood leaving a River of blood leading to the dangling, dripping, vampire puncture marks.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | October 10, 2023 5:48 PM |
R4, There are lipstick lesbians.

R68, being fancy doesn't get you past R1.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | October 10, 2023 6:18 PM |
I'm the day-for-night outdoor scenes, invariably filmed under strong daylight with a special filter that makes everything look as if the lens had been smeared with blue shoe polish. I'm about as believable as the magenta blood that R21 has mentioned, and the crummy special effects.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | October 10, 2023 6:21 PM |
I'm The House that Bled to Death!
Does TV Hammer count? Still remember this one for giving me nightmares, never was a fan of horror.

Who calls me from the other side
Of the street?
And who taps me on the shoulder?
I turn around, but you're gone.
