I saw the interview and was on the last thread and people are saying he filmed that before he left for London as his beard looks more grown out in the comic con pics than in that interview so there is actually no confirmation he is in LA right now. I really enjoyed her interview and she seemed very well researched, at least on Ben’s recent projects and interviews, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she has already come across DL. It’s gotten pretty high up on Ben’s search result pages which is how I originally found it earlier this year. From her tweets it sounded like she was getting back into this industry after a previous bad experience so I’m glad her interview went well and was well received, but after being in or even observing this industry in the digital age I think most people should learn quickly that it’s usually not worth it to directly engage with a fandom on certain topics or fandom subgroups or to call out fandom culture if you are a somewhat public figure, particularly in the self proclaimed geek/nerd corner of the industry, so that tweet was a bit odd and unnecessary.

For the record I don’t think there’s enough info in this blind to really assume it’s about Ben and Jessie, even though the comments on the post related to them were funny. But also the blind referenced a friend working “on production” which doesn’t necessarily mean on set. It could be anything from pre to post production, not just the phase of production (principal photography) that mostly takes place on a set/on location, so the fact that S&B isn’t filming yet doesn’t really eliminate the possibility. I’ve known some people working in production management roles that involve the scheduling, travel, living accommodations, etc of cast and crew that sometimes have the best tea because they hear/observe stuff that might not be as concealed as it is when everyone is at work on set (e.g. requests that living accommodations be close, requests to tell family there’s only budget for a small accommodations or no visits allowed during certain dates, etc). Same with the people that are often considered invisible like costume/prop/makeup overhearing things or being confided in by cast.

Now that the S&B production dates might be more final I hope Ben is working on booking something for next year. Since Eric Heisserer loves Ben I hope Eric puts in a good word with his good buddy Denis Villeneuve because the January- July S&B schedule fits almost perfectly with Dune Part 2 scheduled to begin filming in July and that would be far more interesting than any silly romcoms or musicals IMO. Yeah I saw this video I just didn’t interpret it as a confirmation like a lot of his fans did, partly because he said take it whatever way you want, but also because unless he had permission to post those emojis and drop not so subtle hints, that would be incredibly unprofessional behavior especially for a cast and director of this caliber and around the same time the director has been shutting anyone up in interviews that tries to ask him about part 2 plans. So that would be a stupid way to lose a job before you publicly have it if that’s the case.

And yeah Ben might be too old to play him if they want to keep them around the same age, but this character is supposed to be handsome and charming while also being cruel and sadistic which is Ben’s specialty, so I think that’s why he’s seen by his fans to be a good fit. And I don’t know much about this Barry guy but he’s definitely not what I would consider handsome or charming lol. There’s a bit of a time jump depending on where they pick up and Ben passably plays the slightly more authoritative but not drastically different in visible age Darkling with a cast of 25 year olds right now in S&B, so I don’t think it would necessarily be impossible due to his age, but the director seems to have hand picked all the main characters based on his short list of targets so unless Ben’s already on his radar it’s probably very unlikely.

In slightly over forty years on this planet I have only ever seen one famous person in real life.

People in those situations have far more opportunities to meet famous people or meet people before they become famous or meet people whose friends and families are famous. And the term famous is being used very loosely here lol but the entertainment industry is massive and includes far more than just the actors so if you live within close proximity to an entertainment industry hub or work in a tech/legal/business sector linked to the entertainment industry it’s pretty easy to cross paths especially if you have the money to frequent the same restaurants, private membership clubs, art shows, ballets, operas, plays, etc or have kids who go to the same private schools as this segment of rich people who are also considered “famous.” That girl in Ben’s merch video has a modeling management company linked in her profile and is an actress with an IMDB profile so she probably already works in those circles. Same with the NYC girl probably since the fashion/modeling industry is very intertwined with the entertainment industry in NYC. So those examples aren’t really that far removed from these circles compared to some completely unrelated location/profession like an accountant in Texas just observing this life via social media. When I started working at a large tech company a few years ago that whole world seemed foreign and not something I would ever cross paths with or have any interest in but due to a random set of projects opportunities and building a professional and social network as a new person on the west coast and in Europe I was surprised to learn how intertwined the arts/entertainment/tech worlds are (plus the finance world too in NYC and London) so the opportunities exist if you choose to pursue and cultivate those relationships

I don’t really think it matters either way how much time they may or may not have spent apart because there are plenty of people who spend months apart due to work especially during the pandemic limitations and it’s impossible to know where people are based on their sporadic social media posts when it’s easy to prerecord/schedule/latergram posts. IMO I think they clearly had something going on that he felt strongly enough about to make the decisions that led to two pap walks and Montanagate plus that blind reveal on CDAN. My theory is it may have fizzled out by summer (probably more her decision that his) and he was just feeling nostalgic while he was filming the music video for Rise Up, as song that might have been written starting in her bday card on her last bday while she was struggling with her divorce, and he wanted to commemorate it in some way. He seems like the type who would get all nostalgic about the symbolism of filming that music video a year later on her bday and make a grand gesture by saying “hey even though I posted these two thirst trap pics to my 1.8M heaving little ones while teasing a new project, if you look really closely you will see little surprises meant just for you.” Really his main participation in emojigate was when he was at the beach filming the Rise Up video and he posted one pic with a “heart on his sleeve” plus the tiny heart/fairy, and then another pic with the digital “card” with “Here comes the sun little darling” and a hidden 33 posted at midnight Central European time on her birthday. He said Rise Up started as a poem he wrote in a card for a friend who was struggling and in one interview paraphrased it as something like “not only will the sun rise tomorrow, you are the sun.” He may have been dumb enough to think no one would notice or that it was subtle enough no one would be able to connect the dots because it was something personal between them. And we all may have just let it go if she hadn’t posted the sun flower/here comes the sun lyrics the next day. But to me, based on those circumstances, that’s the only conceivable reason he would have made those two posts and it seems like that is a more likely explanation than HIM just doing it to trill the trolls. However, Julianne’s probably much more aware of the chatter about her online and ran with emojigate after that to troll the trolls through her sunflower, 11 necklace/it’s time post, and lion/fairy hidden 40 bday post. Those could all be posted for impact without Ben having to do anything else or even necessarily being aware of them because the seeds had already been planted with his beach posts.

For the one in Paris Netflix or 21 Laps (the production company) could just insist on a production schedule so strict that they wouldn’t have time to go particularly if they have to fly from Canada. The concept of “Fraterdays” are pretty ubiquitous in the film industry where they continue filming all night Friday into Saturday morning before the weekend starts and then have early call times on Mondays so there isn’t much of a weekend and if they were hoping to fit something in during that short timeframe, flying from Canada would basically eliminate that possibility. Since their time is more their own until production starts the powers that be might have less sway over what the actors do, but since this is a young cast that was frequently citied for being very professional and very excited to start filming again I bet if they were asked by the studio or show runner or production managers to be extra precautious and not do a con they would probably agree because it would be both a heath and reputation risk
