Ages ago someone made a typo while posting a thread that was supposed to be titled Your favorite supermodels. They titled it Ypir favorite supermodels and posters created a fabricated model named Ypir. Theories differ on her origin. I've decided that she is Turkish.

I don't know the north troll jokes' meaning and origin. I have studied the DL dictionary thread well but I don't recall the North troll jokes explained there.

I didn't get the whole WEHT vs WHET for a while. DL evolves, like language; innocent errors can become the correct form after a while.

The inside joke I don't get is how, often when someone mentions an OnlyFans account, they put the word "an" before OnlyFans in quotes. Such as "Timothee will have "an" OnlyFans soon." I'm not sure why they are putting the "an" in quotes - almost as if it is incorrect to use the word "an" and they are therefore emphasizing it.

It's a reference to the over-the-top histrionics often seen in parents who are disproportionately concerned and dramatic in a "Would SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?" way. Like a mom of a teen on the swim team who writes a letter to the newspaper because she doesn't like the way her teen is being treated and signs it "Concerned Swim Team Mom".

Plus, r71, it usually comes up in threads that no mom would or should be in anyway, such as gay cruising stories, mentions of fetishes, etc.

I've read DL for years and I haven't understood some of it and that's fine. There used to be some really funny writers, really smart people. DL has evolved organically over the years to include typos, word play and riffing, as well as some great sleuthing and factual information. One reason why DL is funny is because people make a big deal out of nothing. I'm sure there were funny writers here who started funny jokes who are long dead. RIP.
