I don't recall seeing anything about a "split" -just media silence. For all I know it was an orchestrated campaign. John and Stephanie did a lot of media together to promote the show (which eventually tanked), but I don't recall any specific romantic links.

BTW, everyone I know who knows John loves him and says he's a great guy. The only dish I've heard about Powers is that she slept her way into a career -which I highly doubt. I've seen her on stage and she has a lot of charisma and talent. Definite "star quality" that most of today's femme fatales seriously lack.

I have never heard anyone bad mouth John but there are strong rumours that when he does theatre work or work travelling around the UK that he sleeps around a lot and has one night stands in hotel rooms .I heard this rumour in relation to Liverpool were it is strongly rumoured he slept with a much younger gay man he did some sort of media article or event with because the guy was talking about coming out in a locally reported interview.Apparently went for a drink with him in the Masquerade bar and then a night of shagging back in the city centre hotel.

As I recall from my waiter days, Richard Dreyfuss and Sylvester Stallone were generally... unpleasant. Stallone mostly because he wasn't expecting to actually have to pay for his meal, Dreyfuss was just a pill.

From my own experience Jerry Stiller was a complete gem, warm and funny and nice, unless Anne was with him, then they would be fighting, often bitterly. I think it was her.

There has been the occasional remark that her personality is more Beth Jarrett than Laura Petrie or Mary Richards so I wondered if there have been any stories of her being Bacall mean. There are a couple of interviews with her on youtube about her career where she comes across as a real sweetheart. The only thing I know about her is that a close friend of Rose Marie's who was a friend of my parents when I was young occasionally visited her on the set of the DVD show and remembered Moore would sometimes bring her son and that she was a doting mother.

People who worked with her on MTM usually go out of their way to say she was fun and very understanding to work with. It yes the whole time she worked on the show it was her focus 24/7. She wanted it to work and affirm her status as a Hollywood success. Later in life she admitted she neglected people in her life in the pursuit of success, particularly her son. She was no Beth Jarrett.

My brother worked at a resort hotel where Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley were guests. He told me that Billy was a decent guy, while Christy was not so nice.
