It's the time of the pumpkin spice season

It was too hot to work outside so I didn't.

by Anonymousreply 2August 26, 2021 1:52 AM

Op, Thank you for getting us ready for the new thread.

by Anonymousreply 3August 26, 2021 2:34 AM

I think I’ll mow my back yard tomorrow first thing before it gets so hot.

by Anonymousreply 4August 26, 2021 2:40 AM

I’m enjoying my first white eyebrow hairs. They grow so fast! Should I pluck or trim?

by Anonymousreply 5August 26, 2021 2:46 AM

I wonder if I should get those expensive leaf guards/covers when I replace my house and garage gutters with new gutters.

by Anonymousreply 6August 26, 2021 2:50 AM

I ordered a hot coffee instead of iced today. I’m ready.

by Anonymousreply 7August 26, 2021 2:51 AM

[quote]Op, Thank you for getting us ready for the new thread.

You're welcome. I'm glad we finished the Lazy Days of Summer thread and didn't give in to the freeloaders by starting a new thread prematurely.

by Anonymousreply 8August 26, 2021 2:53 AM

[quote]I ordered a hot coffee instead of iced today. I’m ready.

It was 95 here today. I won't be cradling any mugs for a while.

by Anonymousreply 9August 26, 2021 2:56 AM

I felt dew on the grass this morning when I took the dog out. Time to break out my fall dog walking shoes.

by Anonymousreply 10August 26, 2021 2:57 AM

Thanks for the new thread. I was r600 on the other thread, but lost track of the count and let the team down.

I’m worse than Hitler.

by Anonymousreply 11August 26, 2021 5:07 AM

Sadly, it is the time of pumpkin spice. Remember when that was a few weeks and not several months? Frauen.

by Anonymousreply 12August 26, 2021 5:13 AM

[quote]I’m enjoying my first white eyebrow hairs. They grow so fast! Should I pluck or trim?

I always heard that you should never pluck eyebrows. Something about risking a brain hemorrhage. Oh, wait, I think that advice may have been never to pluck nose hairs, but to trim them instead.

by Anonymousreply 13August 26, 2021 5:48 AM

i baked scones this morning, but not pumpkin spice. i wish i was back East already, although i hear it's still hellfire and humid brimstone.

by Anonymousreply 14August 26, 2021 8:17 AM

I thought about painting the spare room yesterday. I might think about it again next week.

by Anonymousreply 15August 27, 2021 5:12 PM

I’m headed to the DMV. Pray for me.

by Anonymousreply 16August 27, 2021 5:22 PM

Pumpkin spice WHELMS.

by Anonymousreply 18August 27, 2021 5:25 PM

Oh honey, if that’s true you better go lie down under the covers until next MLK Day.

by Anonymousreply 19August 27, 2021 5:27 PM

[quote] Sadly, it is the time of pumpkin spice.

by Anonymousreply 21August 27, 2021 5:39 PM

Here at DMV. Waiting. Nobody is cute. Usually you can count on some diverting scenery.

by Anonymousreply 22August 27, 2021 6:30 PM

Waiting for the official letter of offering they said they'd email today and what will be, will be.

Ironing shirts, working sets of bicep curls, press-ups, and chest flys into the mix and dusting my blinds.

I'm not whelmed. You're whelmed

by Anonymousreply 23August 27, 2021 6:41 PM

[quote]Here at DMV. Waiting. Nobody is cute. Usually you can count on some diverting scenery.

I had to go to the D.C. DMV inspection station last week because my sticker was about to expire. Going to a private service station isn't an option here, and there's only one inspection joint for the entire District. I was expecting to wait forever in a long line of vehicles. But when I arrived, there was no line, and I left with my new sticker 10 minutes later. I think they only thing they did was an emissions test. I'm guessing procedures have been scaled back because of Covid. The most underwhelming (in a good way) inspection I've ever had.

by Anonymousreply 24August 27, 2021 9:10 PM

I'm a nervous driver, so was more overwhelmed by the route there than I was at the visit.

by Anonymousreply 25August 27, 2021 9:26 PM

I tried the new apple crisp macchiato (iced of course, it's 100 degrees here) from Starbucks and it's way better than any of their pumpkin drinks.

by Anonymousreply 26August 27, 2021 11:18 PM

Trimming nose hairs with a little scissors works just fine. If you pluck them they just grow back anyway.

by Anonymousreply 27August 27, 2021 11:53 PM

Real men burn 'em out with a Bic, r27

by Anonymousreply 28August 27, 2021 11:54 PM

[quote]Trimming nose hairs with a little scissors works just fine. If you pluck them they just grow back anyway.

I use my cordless beard trimmer. Works quite well.

by Anonymousreply 29August 28, 2021 1:03 AM

The nice girl who cuts my hair, also trims my nose, ear & eyebrow hairs.

by Anonymousreply 30August 28, 2021 1:21 AM

I thought of going swimming today but it was too hot.

by Anonymousreply 31August 28, 2021 1:28 AM

Have you had your bowel movement today?

by Anonymousreply 32August 28, 2021 4:01 AM

It's Friday. I'm prepared to be underwhelmed (or at the very least, whelmed) by the weekend, after having a slightly overwhelming work-week.

by Anonymousreply 33August 28, 2021 4:18 AM

[quote] The nice girl who cuts my hair, also trims my nose, ear & eyebrow hairs.

I prefer my own nose/ear hair trimmers but mine is out of service and they're hard to find right now. I also prefer the kind with the "teeth" at the end vs. the round trimming implement, which seems to be more effective.

Eyebrows, I do leave to the stylist/barber.

by Anonymousreply 34August 28, 2021 1:39 PM

I'm not going to clean the upstairs bathroom after all.

by Anonymousreply 35August 28, 2021 1:43 PM

My nose hair and ear hair grow at the same rate as my facial hair. I now trim hair that has decided to grow on the outside of my ears. By 60, I expect I'll look like a terrier with mange and boogery rust spots beneath my eyes.

by Anonymousreply 36August 28, 2021 4:30 PM

I'm waiting for it to be 6:00, when I will go out for dinner at an Italian restaurant I've not been to before.

by Anonymousreply 37August 28, 2021 4:38 PM

At some point today I plan on moving the dishes from the sink to the dishwasher.

by Anonymousreply 38August 28, 2021 4:54 PM

I have decided to use an Uber Eats promotion to order Indian food tonight. Not very whelming once I ran through the menu a couple of times.

by Anonymousreply 39August 28, 2021 8:18 PM

Between the Kabul airport attack and the news about Ida hitting landfall tonight, I'm overwhelmed. So, yes OP, I want to be underwhelmed. I look forward to it.

by Anonymousreply 40August 28, 2021 11:41 PM

I'm having ONE coffee with dinner and I'm using Cafe Bustello - perhaps a jumbo size mug -because I'm crazy on the weekend.

by Anonymousreply 41August 29, 2021 12:18 AM

I feel so guilty spreading Philadelphia Cream Cheese on soft wholegrain bread.

It has to be 100% fat.

by Anonymousreply 42August 29, 2021 1:58 AM

If it was a one-time (or occasional) thing, don't beat yourself up, R42.

by Anonymousreply 43August 29, 2021 9:24 AM

Over long sleeve sweater and dreamy bay window thoughts while cradling my ......defuque, is dat da MOFO IDA

by Anonymousreply 44August 29, 2021 9:32 AM

Going to run to the food court today. They have a special cook that makes a mean stuffed cabbage on Sunday. After that, I will buy some peach bellinis and ingredients for this week's meals.

by Anonymousreply 45August 29, 2021 11:47 AM

Did you mean containers of pre-made bellinis at the liquor store? How convenient!

by Anonymousreply 46August 29, 2021 12:52 PM

R46 - they import these from Italy out here at a cute little Italian shop in the local mall. I have seen the owner who is a ginger from Turin with a beard perfect for a good fuck...but, unfortunately, married with kids. I kind of hate how addictive they are. They have Hugos as well. Anyway I will probably need them as I have to pick up some adult diapers for women....don't ask. I am now overwhelmed.

by Anonymousreply 47August 29, 2021 1:37 PM

I ordered Chinese instead of Indian (as planned) yesterday. Mixed egg drop-wonton soup doesn't really work, although I like each individually.

Later, I shall return a recent pricey impulsive wine purchase.

by Anonymousreply 48August 29, 2021 3:12 PM

In the mood for gin, vermouth, and orange bitters. It's not even hot outside.

by Anonymousreply 49August 29, 2021 4:31 PM

R45 Peach bellinis sound great. Never had them but love anything with peaches. I'd be overwhelmed to try them.

by Anonymousreply 50August 29, 2021 4:42 PM

So it’s dark and gray here in NJ and with all the hurricane news, I keep forgetting I’m not waiting for the storm like the last one.

by Anonymousreply 51August 29, 2021 4:46 PM

R45 - I heard Trader Joe's has a peach bellini mix. Despite my love for Trader Joe's, I didn't really try them. I was really more disciplined and a light drinker at home and pre-pandemic...Corona Light only (I know...but I had a six pack so there's that (gone down the drain)). They are these but apparently the ones in the US are better if you add pureed peaches (but I wouldn't as I also am not that keen on peaches).

I returned some jeans to the BF Factory Outlet. I ordered online but returned them in person. The cashier was short.

by Anonymousreply 53August 29, 2021 5:30 PM

^ Not Gap Playlists Guy

by Anonymousreply 54August 29, 2021 5:30 PM

R52 I’ve seen a few delightful looking wine cocktails at TJ’s. I think Lidl may have some interesting beverages as well.

by Anonymousreply 55August 29, 2021 5:39 PM

I put some gas in my car. I had to step over the hose.

by Anonymousreply 56August 29, 2021 5:40 PM

TJ’s doesn’t sell alcohol ‘round here.

by Anonymousreply 57August 29, 2021 5:42 PM

Here, TJ sells beer and wine only. You want hooch, it's off to Total Wine... where the guy who handled my wine return was cute, though sported what appeared to be a wedding ring (dark material not gold/silver). Using the remaining balance on my gift card proved beyond overwhelming, for the staff, myself, and the other customers: many attempts among the register clerk, the manager nearby, and finally, the cute likely-married guy again.

by Anonymousreply 58August 29, 2021 6:16 PM

[quote]The cashier was short.

R53 Short in demeanor or short in height?

by Anonymousreply 59August 29, 2021 10:45 PM

R59 Height. And in true underwhelming fashion she was flawlessly polite so I have nothing to complain about.

by Anonymousreply 60August 29, 2021 11:11 PM

Someone is running an engine outside. It’s been going on for hours. Very annoying.

by Anonymousreply 61August 31, 2021 4:23 PM

As soon as I posted, it stopped. Amazing how annoying it was. Someone deserved to be shot.

by Anonymousreply 62August 31, 2021 4:39 PM

I empathize R62. I also hate when people go food shopping and let the car alarm blare while loading groceries into their cars. Seriously??!!

by Anonymousreply 63August 31, 2021 5:05 PM

You go, Calvin.

Most days during summer it rains here in the afternoon, but today it will not. I miss that.

by Anonymousreply 65August 31, 2021 6:30 PM

I managed to get in a short walk today between webinars. Forty-two minutes vs the hour I wanted to do. Maybe I'll do a YouTube video with weights to round out my day.

by Anonymousreply 66August 31, 2021 8:18 PM

R66 A 'short walk' is 42 minutes? I'm overwhelmed Cosmo.

by Anonymousreply 67August 31, 2021 8:46 PM

I got the booster shot (Moderna) this morning.

by Anonymousreply 68September 2, 2021 3:07 AM

Did you have to wait eight months after your second shot before getting the booster, R68?

by Anonymousreply 69September 2, 2021 3:36 AM

I can't get myself to leave the house for the past month. I do leave but only every other day. It's because of having a lot of worries about my job and going home.

by Anonymousreply 70September 2, 2021 10:52 AM

R69, No, it’s been six months.

by Anonymousreply 71September 2, 2021 12:44 PM

^How & where did you pull that off?

by Anonymousreply 72September 2, 2021 12:57 PM

My doctor recommended it, but I just went to Safeway and asked for it.

by Anonymousreply 73September 2, 2021 12:59 PM

I just filled up a garbage can with twigs, sticks, and limbs blown down in my backyard by Hurricane Ida.

Garbage truck comes tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 74September 2, 2021 1:55 PM

I just counted my socks and boxers to see if I needed to do laundry. I can put it off for another couple of days. Of course, that was my big plan for the morning, perhaps back to bed.

by Anonymousreply 75September 2, 2021 2:54 PM

My town was devastated by flooding last night. Glad I bought on a hill.

by Anonymousreply 76September 2, 2021 6:38 PM

Went to my dentist today to have my stitches removed. I had gum surgery on the 24th. Next week, he'll make a mold for a crown that is missing. Next year, I get my aligners from Smile Direct Club!

When I was young, my dentist (at that time) told me I had plenty of room for my wisdom teeth. Unfortunately, they didn't grow in straight, gave me problems, and I had to have them removed. My front teeth on the top slightly overlap and my bottom teeth aren't straight. By my 60th birthday, they should be much straighter and I'll be less self-conscious about them.

by Anonymousreply 77September 2, 2021 7:09 PM

Good luck, Cosmo!

by Anonymousreply 78September 2, 2021 7:42 PM

R77 Cosmo, I wonder if you were at my dentist this morning! I could hear a conversation that sounded much like what you describe. I was there to have a permanent bridge built due to having a broken tooth removed a month ago. It took 3 hours in the chair but the temp is beautiful. I go back in 2 weeks to have the permanent 'installed.' Also, I had the same advice about my wisdom teeth and they did grow in straight and filled in for some back molars. Sorry that didn't work out for you. I think a slight overlap in front can be charming, like a small gap between the front teeth, or a crooked eyetooth.

by Anonymousreply 79September 2, 2021 8:48 PM

Good luck Cosmo! You're gonna be fine. Hang in there.

by Anonymousreply 80September 2, 2021 11:39 PM

Thank you, R78, R79, and R80! I am definitely hanging in there.

I had a gym teacher in middle school. She told us girls she had been a Playboy Bunny but had gotten into an accident and had to leave that job. She had to be in her 30s or 40s and had metal braces. Imagine a former PBB, with metal braces, in front of teenagers! I don't recall us being cruel to her, just very curious about getting braces at that age. I'm using her as inspiration, sort of.

by Anonymousreply 81September 3, 2021 1:14 PM

I switched from Systane Balance Dry Eye Drops (purple box) to Systane Complete (white box). It was a good decision.

by Anonymousreply 82September 3, 2021 1:46 PM

I went to the pool. The water was a little cold. A shriveled brown leaf floated on the surface.

by Anonymousreply 83September 3, 2021 2:34 PM

I have a haircut appointment today. *Sigh* it feels a tad overwhelming.

by Anonymousreply 84September 3, 2021 2:35 PM

I got out of the pool to chat with a neighbor. He forgot his sunglasses.

by Anonymousreply 85September 3, 2021 2:41 PM

I just blotted my face with an antibacterial wipe. I crumpled it an threw it at the trash can but it missed.

by Anonymousreply 86September 3, 2021 2:43 PM

^ and threw it

by Anonymousreply 87September 3, 2021 2:44 PM

I had no idea Cosmo is female.

by Anonymousreply 88September 3, 2021 3:14 PM

Yes, I am. R88. Cosmo, my cat, is male though. Please don't make me leave DL. I learn so much from the posts and am always respectful.

by Anonymousreply 89September 3, 2021 3:45 PM

[quote]I had no idea Cosmo is female.

It's not always easy to know on DL. The males generally aren't posting about the new football season or how they've improved their golf game.

by Anonymousreply 90September 3, 2021 4:20 PM

I live in a Big Ten college town and football season starts tomorrow. The stadium and parking/tailgating lots will be open at full capacity, no masks, social distancing or vaccinations required.

by Anonymousreply 91September 3, 2021 4:39 PM

I always look forward to Cos cat updates, if nothing else, Cosmo!

by Anonymousreply 92September 3, 2021 4:48 PM

I don't have answers.

I'm whelmed by R100's post. What a way to start a holiday weekend.

by Anonymousreply 101September 4, 2021 5:00 PM

I don't know whether to dead-head the flowers in my pots or dump the pots. It's September but sometimes they will give another bloom if the weather stays decent. I'll take a nap and think about it later.

by Anonymousreply 102September 4, 2021 5:06 PM

IMO, Joyce had a too-obvious nose job. And her eyebrows are sitting right on top of her eyes. Possibly an effect of Botox, I don't know.

by Anonymousreply 103September 4, 2021 6:01 PM

by Anonymousreply 104September 4, 2021 6:05 PM

Still hot where I am, but I'm hoping the tourist situation will subside.

Apples are coming back in season. Apples help me lose weight, so, I'll be eating lots of apples this fall. (Packed on a few extra pounds in the past months.)

by Anonymousreply 105September 4, 2021 6:20 PM

I just ordered a shop vac from Home Depot after I realized that if water had come into my basement during Ida, I’d be armed with paper towels.

by Anonymousreply 106September 4, 2021 8:50 PM

I've discovered that green, red, yellow peppers - whether cooked or uncooked - make me burp. That's unfortunate. I like their flavor.

I'll probably deal with it and not stop eating them. I guess this is what getting old looks like.

by Anonymousreply 107September 4, 2021 9:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 114September 7, 2021 9:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 115September 8, 2021 4:16 AM

Over a month later, the mosquito bite on my ankle still itches. They say don't scratch, so I've been dutifully applying Cortisone but it does no good. The thing is only getting itchier. I said fuck it and started scratching and have a good scab going now. This new "ankle biter" strain of skeeters here in SoCal have a powerful bite.

by Anonymousreply 116September 8, 2021 11:31 AM

R112, I'm so jealous! I fell in love with Cotton Candy grapes a year or two ago but couldn't find them this year. I did buy Sweet Bomb grapes. Not quite as sweet but still very satisfying.

by Anonymousreply 121September 8, 2021 3:44 PM

I'm thinking of moving the cat's litterbox from the basement to the bathroom. I don't want to contend with the stairs anymore BUT I still have to clean the box and what do I do with the bag of poops? I need to think this through so I'll be resting on the couch for awhile.

by Anonymousreply 122September 8, 2021 5:05 PM

I suggest you discard the bag of poops.

by Anonymousreply 123September 8, 2021 5:09 PM

R122, I have Cos's litterbox in my bathroom between the shower stall and the toilet. I use doggie pooper scooper bags when I scoop his litter box. You can buy scented ones if you'd like. Amazon sells those as well as bio-degradeable (sp?) bags. I put them in the kitchen garbage can and throw them out with the regular trash. I also buy Earth-friendly bags to dump his litter into when I change it out.

When I brought him home as a kitten, I tried putting his litter box in the guest bathroom but he absolutely refused to use it in there. I guess he was trying to tell me that he is a resident and not a guest.

by Anonymousreply 124September 8, 2021 5:34 PM

I had heard of the Georgian condiment Tkemali, figuring if I were interested I'd need to order some online (or, far less likely, make my own). Today, I noticed a local Eastern European deli was selling three varieties at a decent price, so bought a bottle of red (as opposed to green or yellow).

by Anonymousreply 125September 8, 2021 6:02 PM

Speaking of condiments, I tried Tajin for the first time, on apples. I liked it.

by Anonymousreply 129September 8, 2021 8:55 PM

[quote] I have Cos's litterbox in my bathroom between the shower stall and the toilet.

R124 That's where I was thinking of putting it. Thanks for the poop bag suggestion.

R129 I'd prefer putting it the second bedroom but then I'll just have to move it out when guests are here.

by Anonymousreply 132September 8, 2021 9:16 PM

Regarding bug bites, years ago, late 80s/early 90s, I worked with a guy who, while on vacation in Florida, was bit by a spider. Over the next six months he lost use of the leg where the spider bit him, collapsed at work and then died. ‘ No reason to get whelmed by my post, just don’t fuck around with bug bites.

What was the spider? Brown recluse? Black widow? Brown widow? Red spider?

My huaband was bitten on the thumb by a desert recluse 3 years ago, went through some severe pain, and to this day has no feeling on the tip of his thumb.

The pie shop FORCED me to buy a whole apple pie. It’s $7 for a slice and $15 for a small pie. What choice did I have?

by Anonymousreply 141September 9, 2021 10:13 PM

Trying to quit caffeine, woke up from a nap with a headache so I drank a huge cup of coffee. I love you caffeine.

by Anonymousreply 142September 9, 2021 10:31 PM

R41 You had no choice, I agree. They definitely forced that pie on you. I hope you are recovering from that bullying.

by Anonymousreply 143September 9, 2021 10:42 PM

My local "pie shop" = Publix bakery department. Not quite the same thing...

On the other hand, I do have access to French food prepared by a legit French chef.

My new boss surprised me yesterday with a "why should I keep you in your job" interview. I had to be suddenly whelmed for half-an-hour. It was exhausting and rather cuntish on her part. Now I'm back to calm and underwhelmed and goofing off on the clock. I told her I liked to be kept busy - ha ha ha ha ha!

by Anonymousreply 145September 9, 2021 11:33 PM

r145, I'm sorry she put you through that. This kind of fuckery is why we've got the quitting tsunami.

It rained today. A few drops at best. The road didn't even get wet and I didn't know about it until I went to get my chardonnay. And we have a red flag alert through tomorrow night for potential lightening/high winds/potential for wildfires.

by Anonymousreply 147September 10, 2021 1:46 AM

A zucchini I bought today turned out to be all soft and mushy. It gave me much pleasure to be able to say ‘Gadzooks! A bad zuke!’

If two of them had been rotten, I could have said ‘Gadzooks! Bad zukes!’

But that would perhaps be asking too much of the universe.

by Anonymousreply 148September 10, 2021 4:15 AM

If no one else is going to do it for us, then sometimes we just need to find ways to entertain ourselves, R148.

by Anonymousreply 149September 10, 2021 4:29 AM

R141, so sorry you had to go through that. Sometimes my local Shop Rite will sell half a pie. It's just enough. I wish they would sell a single slice of pie like they do cake. It seems stupid to go to a diner and order a slice of pie but I think that or a restaurant are the only ways to get a slice.

by Anonymousreply 160September 12, 2021 3:35 PM

Some poor tuna DIED for that casserole.

by Anonymousreply 161September 12, 2021 4:19 PM

The casserole was to die for, R161!

by Anonymousreply 162September 12, 2021 4:51 PM

I don't think I've ever had tuna noodle casserole? Doesn't sound like something I'd like; afraid I'm an American Chop Suey guy.

I read mostly ebooks, so finding the small print of my current paperback a bit whelming.

by Anonymousreply 163September 12, 2021 5:41 PM

Tuna noodle casserole is a classic of 1950s soup-can cuisine. My mother never made it when we were kids, but I loved her American chop suey, which I still make for myself occasionally. It's my favorite comfort food.

by Anonymousreply 164September 12, 2021 5:45 PM

R184, I'd wait it out a little to see if they offer a severance package. Bite the bullet, take some leave, talk with a friend.

by Anonymousreply 186September 15, 2021 5:41 PM

Having anxiety issues wondering whether to wait it a out a bit longer is a good sign that you should wait a while longer, R184. If your luck is anything like mine, a severance package would be announced shortly after you announced your retirement. You'd be kicking yourself for a long time.

R184, I also say wait, but in my case I knew I was ‘grandfathered in’ in terms of vesting, matching and amount of the severance.

I need to tighten the screws on my doorknobs. There are 18 of them. I have a feeling I'm not getting around to it this weekend.

I was feeling relieved that the five sets of sliding doors don't have screws to deal with, but then I remembered that one has been off its track a little for about three years so it doesn't open completely, leaving about a three inch place where the door sticks out. It's unlikely I'm going to try to fix it this weekend.

by Anonymousreply 233September 18, 2021 11:27 PM

I don't drink any more, but given a choice, red wine is generally preferable to white wine. Except for sparkling wine / Champagne.

Then again, I read somewhere that most people, in a blind taste test, can't tell the difference between red and white wines.

by Anonymousreply 234September 18, 2021 11:42 PM

IMO, the "I don't disagree," and other double-negative statements are irritating. I work in the legal field, so it makes sense to do that, sometimes. (It's more specific in a lot of instances.) But outside of work, I avoid double negatives. It's too much to fucking think about. Say what you mean and mean what you say! These double negatives are namby pamby and weak!

I cleaned out my bathroom cabinet yesterday. It makes me happy to see it now.

I’m going to devote Sunday to Autumn cleaning too. I always like to do a deep clean at this time of year. It makes me feel better about the darker evenings.

That's on my agenda for next weekend, r270. The Summer window valances will be stored...

I once listened to a Paul Harvey episode, (Rachel STOLE Paul Harvey's style), where someone did exactly what I did in R255, and SHE DIED!

I use a little peroxide first.

I lost one of my Google Pixel earbuds, and had to order a new pair this morning. Worse yet, I may have flushed it down the toilet. I was drunk last night and vaguely remember it falling out when I was taking a leak.

by Anonymousreply 273September 26, 2021 3:18 PM

To be honest, you could've lost an earbud on a plane; these things happen.

by Anonymousreply 274September 26, 2021 3:39 PM

Earbuds keep falling out of my ears. I've pretty much given up on them and use headphones instead.

by Anonymousreply 275September 26, 2021 4:24 PM

I have different shaped ear canals, so two buds of the same size definitely don't work for me.

by Anonymousreply 278September 26, 2021 8:24 PM

My nephew won’t eat leftovers either. What’s up with that?

by Anonymousreply 279September 26, 2021 8:36 PM

I'm having leftover Chinese BBQ pork, along with some leftover vegan fried rice; nuked asparagus as vegetable (Hellmans mayo as ersatz hollandaise).

by Anonymousreply 280September 26, 2021 8:45 PM

I heard that vegetables brown better on a dark-colored sheet pan. I just ordered a black sheet pan from Amazon. I hope to be roasting up some fall vegetables soon, plus cradling my mug.

I finally watched the series finale of Younger on TVLand. It went out with a whimper. I'm kind sorry I watched it now. The show was good in the beginning, thanks to Mariam Shor. She was a hoot to watch. She wasn't in any of the final episodes.

I forgot the paperback book I intended to read at lunch, so ended up having to read a different one on my phone.

I just had a long nap. It’s now 7.45pm and I’m asking myself whether I should get up or just stay in bed until morning.

My toes are a little cold (as they are closest to the open window), but the rest of me is pleasantly toasty.

by Anonymousreply 287September 27, 2021 6:48 PM

Sorry for the late response, I was locked out from posting for days. I don't know why. Maybe I posted a recipe someone tried and didn't like?

To answer your question if still needed, no there is not an automatic shutoff, it goes from BREW to WARM. I don't find it an issue since the pot is small and I only make enough for me. After I pour a large mug I just pull the plug.

Also, I highly recommend stocking up on the Melitta disc filters from Amazon as they are difficult to find in stores.

R297, enjoy! I got hooked on the show when TVLand showed a marathon of one of the season. Thankfully, Optimum on Demand had all of the seasons available so I binge watched season after season. Miriam Shor and Debi Mazar are wonderful in it.

by Anonymousreply 302September 28, 2021 1:35 PM

My dog woke me up in the middle of the night as he needed to urgently investigate something in the backyard. I couldn't get back to sleep after that and ended up watching the first three episodes of Season One of The Beverly Hillbillies. I am now convinced Tom Hanks modeled his Forrest Gump after Jethro and Shelley Long modeled Diane Chambers manner of speaking after Jane Hathaway.

by Anonymousreply 308September 28, 2021 11:39 PM

R308 Eleven! Not to be too judgmental, but my word, what were you eating? Give us some highlights. I applaud your honesty, though, and I do know what you mean. So easy to gain, so hard to lose.

by Anonymousreply 309September 29, 2021 12:09 AM

R308- I binged Wednesday through Saturday. I was good for FIFTY days in a row before this binge. I think my metabolism slowed down a lot that is why I was able (unfortunately) to gain so much weight so quickly. My binges would begin after lunch- A pint of ice cream, two thirds of a container of Trader Joe's Chocolate Chip cookies - made with butter, a large frozen pizza, some Sees jelly beans- these were some of my binge items.

by Anonymousreply 310September 29, 2021 1:02 AM

R310 Sounds wonderful. I have this dream that I'll diet down five pounds below my usual weight, then spend a "lost weekend" eating like a madman and just go back to normal. I never seem to get down there though.

by Anonymousreply 311September 29, 2021 2:57 AM

A pint of ice cream? Amateur!

by Anonymousreply 312September 29, 2021 4:44 AM

I noticed the former half-gallon ice cream container is only 48 Oz. so a pint is probably no longer an actual pint.

R327 of course. What else would a gay couple be doing?

by Anonymousreply 328September 29, 2021 9:31 PM

No, we're in the high desert of central Nevada. The nearest Starbucks is 2 hours away. We'll have to make our own. There is a coffee place (Beans & Brews) which is inside a truck stop that is only 30 minutes away. They might have it. I guess I'll just make some from scratch. We do have cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cloves.

by Anonymousreply 329September 29, 2021 9:32 PM

R329 do u like living there?

by Anonymousreply 330September 29, 2021 9:34 PM

What I like about it is the cost of living is much lower than California, it's quiet, there's abundant wildlife, the stargazing is unmatched, and we feel detached from the rest of the world and all the disasters and conflict we see about and read about. The peace and quiet is a plus.

What I don't like it is the isolation (and before I got married, I lived here alone and it was not fun at all) and the distance from everything including cultural activities, shopping, services, etc. It's not for everyone, especially if you are used to all the conveniences and options of a big city. You give up a lot when you move to a unpopulated area.

Additionally, we live in deep red Trumper country (80% of them voted for Trump in the last election) and I can tell you that Trumpers are just assholes. They pretend to be nice people, but in their actions they are deeply selfish. We rarely associate with any of the other people around here, which only increases the feeling of isolation.

by Anonymousreply 331September 29, 2021 9:49 PM

Any UAPs with all that stargazing, r331? No greys ringing the bell after a crash?

[quote] my problem is the Blue Jays. They make a horrid sound that scares away all the other birds from my neighbor's bird feeder stand.

It’s a red tailed hawk sound. Blue jays are smart birds. When I had my guineas I’d go out & feed them when the guinea were in my front yard, making guinea noises. To this day blue jays make a guinea sound so I’ll come out & put the seeds on the ground. It’s eerie when I’m outside & I hear it. I look for my guineas coming through the hedge….then I remember they’re not coming.

(It’s not the “yelling” guinea sound. It’s a soft sound the guineas made all day long, like coo-whistle. I can’t find a recording of it. Only of the yelling)

I used to like Twitter but then it became

“My mother just died.”

“Hospital called. My daughter has been in a car accident and is brain dead.”

“Had to say goodbye to Mr Billingham, my best boy for 14 years. Tears.”

“Just got scan results. My cancer is back & it’s aggressive.”

I have no idea who any of these people are. It’s whelming

by Anonymousreply 410October 8, 2021 9:05 PM

I had a babysitter who sometimes ate Haley's M-O mixed with cottage cheese.

Those ankle bracelet things are kind of sexy.

by Anonymousreply 412October 8, 2021 9:12 PM

A cute guy I follow on Tik Tok informed us that his mother was killed while visiting Nashville with him. They were riding scooters. He saw the accident. He and his siblings started a go-fund-me for the funeral. I chipped in. Figured I owed him one.

Sorry to whelm.

I put uncooked mushrooms in a salad and they reminded me of pencil erasers.

I just ate leftover curry for dinner.

by Anonymousreply 415October 8, 2021 10:37 PM

I used sour cream and salsa as dressing on last night's green salad. The Thousand Island seemed too whelming at the time.

I wouldn't feel like I owed a Tik Tokker anything, even if cute.

I just watched “Yojimbo”. Toshiro Mifune was extremely sexy.

by Anonymousreply 422October 9, 2021 5:54 AM

I live a block away from a large park that is home to hundreds, maybe thousands, of birds. Twice this morning we were visited by two peafowl, a peacock and peahen, who managed to flap their way up to our second-floor balcony. To see peacock blue in such close quarters was a gift from the gods, and the hen’s tiara was most impressive, like a Spanish flamenco dancer.

They fluttered away, and we continued sipping our coffee.

About twenty minutes later, they returned. It looked as though they might be scouting out a quiet nook far from the madding crowd.

No, we said to each other. We like our balcony and we can’t have a pair of massive birds camping outside our bedroom door. Besides, they make a hell of a racket.

So, out came the broom and shoo! they were gone.

I’ve dubbed them Mr. and Mrs. Peabody.

There was lots of ice at the back of my fridge, so I decided to defrost it. It’s taking hours, and I am whelmed, thinking my milk may go sour.

by Anonymousreply 431October 9, 2021 8:03 PM

I’m going away for a few weeks and want to empty the fridge so I can unplug it and save on hydro. So I cooked a bowl of frozen peas for lunch — just to eat them up. Nothing is less whelming than frozen peas.

by Anonymousreply 432October 9, 2021 9:30 PM

I’m watching a Netflix series while eating sweets and drinking Pepsi. I feel like a nine year-old.

The Netflix series might be the dumbest thing I have watched in decades, but it stars Gregg Shirtless Sulkin. I may watch all ten episodes tonight.

by Anonymousreply 433October 9, 2021 9:38 PM

I should find Greg Sulkin attractive, but I just don’t.

by Anonymousreply 434October 9, 2021 9:41 PM

That’s fortunate r434, because I am destined to marry him.

by Anonymousreply 435October 9, 2021 9:46 PM

R432, does it really save that much money to unplug a refrigerator for a few weeks? If you're gone, I'm assuming no one would be opening the doors of the fridge, which is what causes loss of cold air, etc. Seems like it would be better to just keep it plugged in (no mold, etc.).

by Anonymousreply 436October 9, 2021 9:46 PM

High desert of central Nevada.

The Sierra Nevada range in California got snow yesterday.

by Anonymousreply 437October 9, 2021 9:49 PM

You’re probably right, R436. It boils down to the fact that I hate the idea of running an empty fridge — it seems like an almost scandalous waste of energy.

by Anonymousreply 438October 9, 2021 10:44 PM

Frozen peas defrosted of course) are great with cottage cheese.

by Anonymousreply 439October 10, 2021 3:20 AM

R434- I've been watching The Maid on Netflix. It started out promising but it's just another MEDIOCRE Netflix show but the actor who plays the maid's ex boyfriend is a good looking redneck.

by Anonymousreply 440October 10, 2021 8:40 PM

R439- Have you ever tried fruit cocktail with cottage cheese- it was an after school staple for me in the 1970's when all the cookies in the house were finished.

by Anonymousreply 441October 10, 2021 8:41 PM

As a child, I thought cottage cheese was vomitrocious.

by Anonymousreply 442October 10, 2021 11:30 PM

We never had cottage cheese in the house when I was a kid. Somehow, I suspect my mother dislikes it.

by Anonymousreply 443October 10, 2021 11:39 PM

We always had pineapple rings with cottage cheese - still love it.

by Anonymousreply 444October 10, 2021 11:54 PM

I eat cottage cheese with fresh pineapple or cantaloupe and berries at least twice a week. I also love it in Campbell's tomato soup.

by Anonymousreply 445October 11, 2021 12:08 AM

I loathe pineapple, but like tomato soup. I can but assume that the idea of having it with cottage cheese is what they call "taking the mickey" I think? How gross.

by Anonymousreply 451October 11, 2021 4:55 AM

I watched "The Bad Seed" on TCM. Nancy Kelly, as the distraught mother of little Rhoda Penmark, is certainly over-the-top, probably because she also played the part on Broadway and wasn't reined in for the movie version. And yet, amid all the high camp, Eileen Heckart, as the mother of the little boy whom Rhoda killed to get the penmanship medal she thought was rightfully hers, is utterly heartbreaking.

The term "cottage cheese" is thought to have come about because the cheese was generally made in cottages from milk that was left over from making butter.

by Anonymousreply 461October 11, 2021 8:34 PM

Thanks for the info r459.

The pandemic shutdown last year coupled with an annoying experience using CVS Bucks cured me of playing the drugstore rewards game.

I had $5 in CVS Bucks and bought $4.99 package of Bounty paper towels. Snotty little witch at the register was mumbling under her breath about my not buying anything else and getting "free" paper towels. I had words with her and her equally useless "manager" and vowed never to return.

Then the shutdown came and Target was closer to me and no jumping through hoops for rewards and toiletries are cheaper everyday. Plus Target has the frequent buy $20 in toiletries get $5 gc and that's just easier.

I will visit Walgreen's over the holidays as they have the Royal Dansk butter cookies BOGO then and I use those for a shortbread crust I make.

I went to Lidl for the first time today. It’s like a dollar store with food. Like Aldi, it has a lot of junk food, but it has more produce and meat than Aldi. I bought some frozen Indian food. The pakoras were ok, the chicken biryani is a little too hot for me.

It sells a lot of crappy clothing and crappier sundries. But they had fresh baked multigrain organic bread, I didn’t buy it because no bread for me right now.

R475, Yes, I loved that bread with cream cheese too! Any idea where to get something similar?

by Anonymousreply 476October 13, 2021 2:30 AM

Since this has devolved a bit into a food thread, I'm not a fan of panettone, but decided to try a mini chocolate chip one. Won't be buying another.

by Anonymousreply 477October 13, 2021 12:58 PM

R474, Try Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Mayo.

R418, Ah, but the 11:00 train to East Hampton was late, was she not? And was this not due to a sudden embarking of the young and beautiful widow of M. Tarquin Rhodes-Marlborough, heir to the Blenheim fortune? Indeed, did you not share both a train cabin and a taxi cab with her in a spontaneous change of your plans? You were affianced and married within la semaine, n'est ce pas?

Malheureusement, I go ce jour to attend her funeral. Demain matin, I seek her murderer.

by Anonymousreply 496October 13, 2021 6:28 PM

R496, I haven't been tested recently for Covid, but this was a while ago (conjunctivitis in one eye). I did consult a medical professional by phone about the situation. I'm vaccinated for Covid and I feel OK now.

But yes, that is one of the symptoms of Covid.

by Anonymousreply 497October 13, 2021 6:47 PM

I had gum surgery this past Friday. The dentist did not use dissolvable stitches so I have black thread in my bottom front gums. The dental putty stuff they used came off over the weekend so the ends of the thread are whelming me. I wonder if OTC temporary dental putty would work. Just need it until Monday when he removes the stitches. Maybe I'll walk to CVS later.

by Anonymousreply 498October 13, 2021 6:52 PM

I was all set to make chicken soup, but I don’t feel like chopping the vegetables. Maybe a broth of whole carrots, onions and stalks of celery will make for a nice soup experience?

by Anonymousreply 501October 13, 2021 7:35 PM

Can you puree the vegetables once they're cooked, r501? That might give you something you'll like. Don't use too much liquid.

Are you cooking the chicken in the same pot?

by Anonymousreply 502October 13, 2021 7:42 PM

I think you can minimally slice the vegetables. Cut the onion in half, at least. Cut the carrots and celery into 4-inch pieces. The long stalks of celery probably won't fit, whole, into your pot, anyway.

by Anonymousreply 503October 13, 2021 7:46 PM

Canada geese mate for life.

by Anonymousreply 504October 13, 2021 7:59 PM

R502, R503, Thanks guys. I finally got up and got with it.

I did a rough chop on all the vegetables, sautéed real fast and used Trader Joe’s broth. The chicken was already cooked & shredded. Not sure why I’m so lazy today…

by Anonymousreply 505October 13, 2021 9:05 PM

I have a reeeeeeealllly annoying mockingbird in my yard. He flies all over the place screaming and squawking and making that annoying mockingbird sound. He’s very loud. He probably thinks he’s defending the little pears on my pear tree for himself, but I’ve got news for him ….flocks of starlings always find that tree and strip it within a half hour.

This is the annoying sound he makes all the time only much, much louder. Under “sounds” it’s the #4 sound

R513, how did you reformat your Mac? I paid someone to do it. I'm guessing your external drive is for your Time Machine backups? Love having those. Be careful, though, my external drive crapped out unexpectedly. My computer lady (the one who reformatted my Mac) salvaged what was on it.

R516 -- I did not need to reformat my iMac, just repair the LaCie drive so that the automatic daily TimeMachine backups could be stored on it.

I used the Disk Repair Utility app that came with the computer.

I found the instructions for how to do it under "Mac Help" at the top of my screen. Typed in the "How to repair and reformat an external hard drive."

by Anonymousreply 530October 15, 2021 10:43 AM

The "Donate" box I keep a box in my garage was full so I divided it up into two separate donations to be dropped off yesterday. One for the thrift shop run by a dog rescue for senior dogs and the other for a thrift shop run by the cat protection society.

The dog rescue people greeted me enthusiastically as I walked in the door and thanked me profusely for my donation. I'm a recovering kitchen gadget addict so there was some very nice newer items in the box.

The cat protection lady barely acknowledged me when I walked in She gestured with her head where I should leave the box and then went back to her reading. I exited awkwardly while mumbling something to the effect of "Yeah well then, ok, then, thank you, bye." Why on earth I said "thank you" to her I don't know.

My point being, the dog people acted like dogs and the cat lady acted like a cat.

When you get whooping cough from an unvaccinated baby don't come crying to me, R529!

My last booster was 30 years ago before going to India. They say it lasts as long as 30 years rather than the official number of 10 years, so I'll decide on another booster as I turn 91.

by Anonymousreply 532October 15, 2021 11:58 AM

What does whooping cough have to do with tetanus?

by Anonymousreply 533October 15, 2021 12:23 PM

They're bundled in the same shot, along with diphtheria.

by Anonymousreply 534October 15, 2021 12:45 PM

I don't think donuts are as bad for you as everyone says.

by Anonymousreply 535October 15, 2021 12:48 PM

R535, it’s not your health we are concerned about, it’s your figure. How do you expect to keep a man, walking around looking like Bart Simpson?

by Anonymousreply 536October 15, 2021 4:27 PM

My breakfast for tomorrow is a big bowl of Arrowhead Mills Puffed Corn( No sugar or salt added & low carb) in Trader Joe's Oat Milk.

by Anonymousreply 537October 15, 2021 4:35 PM

You can reformat a disk using the Disk Utility that comes with every Mac. You can reformat an external drive, or even the internal startup drive, if necessary. Be sure you have a current backup of whatever disk you are reformatting, so you can restore the data

by Anonymousreply 538October 15, 2021 4:37 PM

^That is underwhelming, for sure.

by Anonymousreply 539October 15, 2021 4:39 PM

[quote] I don't think donuts are as bad for you as everyone says.

Yes, IMO, they are. Donuts, generally, are made from refined wheat flour (spike in blood sugar). There's granulated sugar in there, esp. with a glazed donut. More spiking in blood sugar. It's fried (adding to the calorie count). Finally, they're low in protein, maybe 2 grams per donut.

That said, I like cake (vs. yeasted) donuts.

by Anonymousreply 540October 15, 2021 5:09 PM

R540 Sometimes it's not my body but my soul that cries out for a cruller.

by Anonymousreply 541October 15, 2021 8:22 PM

M&S had lots of organic smoked salmon reduced in price to just £1 per pack today. I bought a lot of it to freeze. I won’t have to buy any more smoked salmon this year, so that’s one fewer thing I’ll need to think about.

by Anonymousreply 542October 16, 2021 1:13 AM

R542- You're in the UK. It's very late there. What are you still doing up?

by Anonymousreply 543October 16, 2021 1:17 AM

I can’t sleep r543, so I have given up trying at the moment!

by Anonymousreply 544October 16, 2021 1:30 AM

My little lemon tree has lost all its leaves.

by Anonymousreply 545October 16, 2021 1:39 AM

I bought a king size duvet and a throw blanket. When the cashier asked if I had a postal code I said no.

by Anonymousreply 546October 16, 2021 1:55 AM

I am watching a movie rated 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.

by Anonymousreply 547October 16, 2021 1:57 AM

[quote]My little lemon tree has lost all its leaves.

Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet, but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.

by Anonymousreply 548October 16, 2021 5:42 AM

I bought a weighted blanket, I can't wait for cold weather. I'm going to turn my furnace down to 60 degrees while I sleep.

by Anonymousreply 549October 16, 2021 11:34 AM

I'm not a fan of comforters or duvets, and would rather just have a regular bedspread. Unfortunately, those are kind of hard to find it seems.

by Anonymousreply 550October 16, 2021 12:05 PM

It’s already cold here. I just put the electric blanket on my bed.

by Anonymousreply 551October 16, 2021 12:05 PM

It's Saturday morning, which means it's time for me to take my 3.5 mile walk. Maybe today I won't have to put my fingers in my ears as is often necessary when I walk by the gardeners with their lawn mowers/leaf blowers blasting and the construction creeps cutting stones for the new McMansions.

by Anonymousreply 552October 16, 2021 1:44 PM

My cat woke me up by standing on me and has been giving me the side-eye all day, but now she wants to snuggle. I’m torn.

by Anonymousreply 553October 16, 2021 5:21 PM

I am currently re-watching Succession season one on HBO2. Season 2 will be shown on Sunday starting at 10:30 am. The theme music is pleasantly haunting to me.

by Anonymousreply 554October 16, 2021 7:35 PM

I am about to be SLAMMED by severe thunderstorms, but for the moment, it’s sunny and calm.

by Anonymousreply 555October 16, 2021 8:39 PM

Nearby happy hour does beer @ $2.50/bottle, so reading an ebook and websurfing over a Sam Adams.

by Anonymousreply 556October 16, 2021 8:43 PM

I almost bought a comforter instead of a duvet but I didn't like the pattern.

by Anonymousreply 557October 16, 2021 8:43 PM

R555 are you in NJ? We're about to get a big storm here as well.

by Anonymousreply 558October 16, 2021 8:46 PM

I am.

by Anonymousreply 559October 16, 2021 8:47 PM

I'm finally getting rid of three pairs of pants that are simply too small. I'll never feel comfortable wearing them. (Too tight.)

by Anonymousreply 560October 16, 2021 8:48 PM

R559 it just suddenly got very dark. At least after this storm the humidity should be gone so we can enjoy some nice crisp, autumnal weather.

by Anonymousreply 561October 16, 2021 8:48 PM

We’re going to get SLAMMED, I tell you.

by Anonymousreply 562October 16, 2021 8:49 PM

R562 if only I could!! 😂😉

by Anonymousreply 563October 16, 2021 8:51 PM

This thread is ticking along towards 600 replies and that's totally whelming me!

by Anonymousreply 564October 16, 2021 9:27 PM

We didn’t get slammed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 565October 16, 2021 9:32 PM

r565 we certainly did not!

by Anonymousreply 566October 16, 2021 9:34 PM

Fear not, r564. We shall continue.

by Anonymousreply 568October 16, 2021 9:40 PM

R562- There's an episode of Sex And The City when Charlotte says- sometimes I just want to get POUNDED!- don't we all

Slammed reminds me of the word pounded.

by Anonymousreply 569October 16, 2021 10:19 PM

I woke up at 9 this morning, had a breakfast of ham and cheese and went for a four-hour nap. Then I spent a few hours batch cooking and listening to podcasts. Now I’m having a beer and thinking I really need to be more active and social. I’ve got out of the habit since covid.

by Anonymousreply 570October 16, 2021 10:33 PM

What were you batch cooking?

by Anonymousreply 571October 16, 2021 10:41 PM

I need to do some batch cooking as well. I have the ingredients to make a potato curry.

by Anonymousreply 572October 16, 2021 10:43 PM

I'm soaking Great White Northern Beans overnight to make a Broccoli White Bean soup. It's creamy , yet vegan. The creaminess comes from the beans. I will cook the beans in the morning then add them to the onions, garlic, black pepper , olive oil and broccoli ( which I steam earlier. I let it come to boil then turn off the flame then use the immersion blender to liquify the soup.

by Anonymousreply 573October 16, 2021 11:06 PM

R573, I made Great Northern beans for the first time recently. They're really easy to get them soft and crumbly.

by Anonymousreply 574October 16, 2021 11:09 PM

R574- Some beans take over an hour to cook 👨‍🍳. These beans usually take less than an hour.

by Anonymousreply 575October 17, 2021 1:19 PM

Today is overcast and chilly. A real Fall day.

by Anonymousreply 576October 17, 2021 3:11 PM

Today is my flu shot - want it to take effect before the snowbirds' friends and families bring their germs with them on vacation! 86 here which is normal for October in South Florida.

by Anonymousreply 577October 17, 2021 3:13 PM

I soaked some chickpeas last night and boiled them for an hour this morning. When I have my lunch I shall a generous amount on my salad.

by Anonymousreply 578October 17, 2021 3:15 PM

I buy them canned for roughly 75 cents.

by Anonymousreply 579October 17, 2021 3:17 PM

I shall PUT

by Anonymousreply 580October 17, 2021 3:26 PM

Sometimes, there's just so much to think about, I have to stop and say to myself, now hold on.

by Anonymousreply 581October 18, 2021 4:31 AM

After I take my 2.1 mile walk this morning I will eat my one egg. My doctor said one should not eat more than three eggs per week. So I eat one egg on Monday and two eggs on Thursday.

by Anonymousreply 582October 18, 2021 2:26 PM

I have turned on the heat.

by Anonymousreply 583October 18, 2021 3:28 PM

Why only 3 eggs per week r582?

by Anonymousreply 584October 18, 2021 3:29 PM

R584- My doctor said that no one should eat more than three eggs per week. That does sound conservative but I'm following his instructions.

by Anonymousreply 585October 18, 2021 3:36 PM

I had a Ceanothus in my front garden that died - we had a very hot August and I didn't water it enough, which is a drag because it had grown up so beautifully. I had to chop it up and put it into garbage bags for tomorrow's collection. It was exhausting.

by Anonymousreply 586October 18, 2021 5:20 PM

[quote]My doctor said one should not eat more than three eggs per week.

I thought all that egg fear went out in the 1990s.

by Anonymousreply 587October 18, 2021 5:22 PM

Yeah, 3 eggs (limit) per week sounds kind of silly.

by Anonymousreply 588October 18, 2021 5:34 PM

I am partial to egg salad sandwiches, but not with Dijon mustard (my mom stocks that).

by Anonymousreply 589October 18, 2021 6:15 PM

I'll eat as many damned eggs as I want per week, despite the outmoded advice of R582's doctor. No carbs and high in protein. Fatphobia also belongs in the '90s. It resulted in the low-fat, high-carb diets that worsened the country's obesity problem.

by Anonymousreply 590October 18, 2021 6:20 PM

Going out for lunch with my mom for my birthday; restaurant is known for their chowder. I can only recall running across three people in my life with the same birthday, two the same year as mine.

by Anonymousreply 591October 19, 2021 12:45 PM

Happy Birthday r591. Enjoy your soup.

by Anonymousreply 595October 19, 2021 5:38 PM

I have mixed feelings about being at the end of a thread.

by Anonymousreply 596October 19, 2021 5:39 PM

There's a particularly bitchy woman on an old Love It or List It episode. I confess I am enjoying this very much. Asshole people can be amusing. They are so self absorbed.
