I do feel bad for Morgan Hurd. Biles owes her an apology.

by Anonymousreply 2July 28, 2021 10:13 PM

R2 Why? She wasn’t even an alternate. Both our alternates got fucked with COVID-19.

by Anonymousreply 3July 28, 2021 10:14 PM

r2

why?

by Anonymousreply 4July 28, 2021 10:15 PM

Ok sorry for being out of the loop, who would have made the team if Biles bowed out before they started then?

by Anonymousreply 5July 28, 2021 10:17 PM

r5

EIther Jade or Skinner and I am sure they would have picked Jade

by Anonymousreply 6July 28, 2021 10:19 PM

R6 No, not Jade. Skinner maybe. But the alternates were the next in line.

by Anonymousreply 7July 28, 2021 10:22 PM

From previous thread- I need more information than Moceanu is a deplorable other than “she was raised in Texas” which is the worst reason I’ve ever read on DL.

by Anonymousreply 8July 28, 2021 10:23 PM

I wonder if they should have made Simone compete as an individual qualifier rather than put her on the Team.

by Anonymousreply 9July 28, 2021 10:24 PM

Morgan wasn't an alternate because she wasn't allowed to petition into trials, isn't that right?

That's really unfair.

by Anonymousreply 10July 28, 2021 10:24 PM

Morgan was fucked over.

by Anonymousreply 11July 28, 2021 10:26 PM

Is it?

by Anonymousreply 12July 28, 2021 10:27 PM

Sadly Morgan just not fucked over, she was not ready after injuries... I hope she goes to worlds this year

by Anonymousreply 13July 28, 2021 10:27 PM

They still had plenty of Alternates to compete....

by Anonymousreply 14July 28, 2021 10:28 PM

R10 Why wasn’t she allowed? I didn’t hear that.

Also, Shannon earned her right on the team no matter how she did it. Closest 1-2 finish in Barcelona. 5 medals. She lead all after the team and compulsories. She then calmed the team after they started fucking up on beam. Shannon was the most consistent gymnast in Barcelona and Atlanta until the last two events in the individual when she was leading.

R16, and? Who hasn't won with those same problems?

I won a Gold Medal in team and AA first, and was also carried the same Larry burden. Of course, unlike my slut teammates, I didn't dress like I deserved it.

Jade is replacing Simone in All Around.

by Anonymousreply 22July 28, 2021 10:49 PM

So Jade and Sunisa?

by Anonymousreply 23July 28, 2021 10:51 PM

Jade is a long shot to medal. If she does, wow, that would be fantastic.

by Anonymousreply 24July 28, 2021 10:52 PM

I will be surprised if it’s not sunisa and two russians.

by Anonymousreply 25July 28, 2021 10:53 PM

Lets break down Simone’s chances at competing and medaling in the event finals:

Vault- unlikely to compete. This is the event that caused her to withdraw period.

Bars- even if she does she will not medal.

Beam- unlikely to compete as she could get really hurt flipping on the beam

Floor- unlikely to compete. Too much insane flipping

Shannon will remain the most decorated female Olympic gymnast

by Anonymousreply 26July 28, 2021 10:56 PM

God bless, R26... let's keep praying!

by Anonymousreply 27July 28, 2021 11:03 PM

In gymnastics everyone is competing with a broken toe or a busted shoulder.

There is no way the higher ups didn't know something was wrong with Simone. Martha would have made Simone compete as individual instead of putting her on the Team. A meltdown like we witnessed doesn't happen all of the sudden. There were probably all kinds of red flags behind the scenes, red flags that Tom and all his enablers ignored. I feel bad for Simone, but she should have been left home. Jade got screwed. Thank god she is doing AA at least.

by Anonymousreply 28July 28, 2021 11:04 PM

R28, I agree.

This didn't come out of nowhere so it's clear somewhere along the way it was known that Simone probably should have pulled out and let someone else compete. I don't think Jade got screwed because I don't think she would have been placed on the team regardless. I don't remember, but did Jade compete all four events in Qualifying? If so, would her scores have put the US in first over the Russians if you took Simone's scores out?

I suspect Tom was behind this mess. I knew without a doubt that something was going to get fucked up with these Olympics because he fucks everything up. He's wanted to make it to the Olympics so badly... for nearly 30 years... and it's actually sort of funny he finally gets there and this is his legacy.

by Anonymousreply 29July 28, 2021 11:11 PM

Strike that, obviously Jade competed all 4 events in Qualifying if she's competing in the AA now.

by Anonymousreply 30July 28, 2021 11:12 PM

I feel bad for Simone. Its harder to be everybody’s target than to be the underdog chasing after the top spot. She had the physical tools but mentally wasnt good enough. Why is it so bad to say she failed mentally? Why is this a tale of bravery now? She is a public figure, she trained for this, she called herself goat, she signed contracts with sponsors who will give her bonuses for every medal she gets, she couldnt handle the big pressure. And thats fine, very few can. She made the right decision to quit. How many athletes out there can actually handle big-stage defending champion pressure as big as this? Michael Phelps, Michael Jordan, I personally feel Yuna Kim did and she was robbed anyway but handled it magnificently.

Speaking of Yuna Kim, this is exactly what Russia is doing anyway. They are doping and bribing judges— Suni is world silver on floor who performed the exact same set yet Suni scores are much lower. They want the AA so badly, and they want it at Simone’s expense. They want to beat Simone the way they “beat” Yuna in figure skating. Im somewhat glad that Simone quit so they cant beat her. Give gymnastics a few years, it will be exactly like ladies figure skating now. It doesnt help the US Team coordinator is pretty inept.

by Anonymousreply 31July 28, 2021 11:39 PM

Jade competed in all 4 in Olympic trials but I actually thought she got lowballed a little. NBC had to address the fact that athletes and US officials were being cunts to Jade because she earned her Olympic spot through international competition forcing them to take her. She was right in the end. The US would have left her home had she not taken the initiative to earn an Olympic spot through international wins.

Jade doesn’t have a chance at medaling in the all around.

by Anonymousreply 35July 28, 2021 11:46 PM

Of course not R35. The winner has already been pre-determined.

by Anonymousreply 36July 28, 2021 11:53 PM

Who is angelina? One of the russian whores?

by Anonymousreply 37July 28, 2021 11:54 PM

Will Sunisa become the next american gymnast sweetheart tomorrow?

by Anonymousreply 38July 28, 2021 11:54 PM

They will low score Suni. Just watch. Those Russian whores could fall off every event and have a good execution score. The judges want a non-American winner.

by Anonymousreply 39July 28, 2021 11:58 PM

Nyet, R38. Read R36!

by Anonymousreply 40July 29, 2021 12:02 AM

It is sort of fascinating that right before the games the Russian Coach said without Simone, the US won't win anything... that they would.

And now they will.

The FIG couldn't blatantly rob Simone of Gold, but they can certainly do it to everyone else.

Funny how it always works out for the Russians, exactly how they want and say it will, huh?

by Anonymousreply 41July 29, 2021 12:04 AM

Shannon Miller, in Atlanta, lead all gymnasts after the team and compulsories. She lead all gymnasts after two rotations in the all around. She was dominant then stumbled in the 3rd rotation on floor.

She will remain the most decorated female gymnast.

by Anonymousreply 42July 29, 2021 12:05 AM

R41 yep. Always. But *SPOILER ALERT* not in the men’s all around!

by Anonymousreply 43July 29, 2021 12:06 AM

R42, that's sweet.

But Shannon was never going to win the All-Around.

Shannon's the Queen of leading after Compulsories and Options and not winning the Gold, hah!

by Anonymousreply 44July 29, 2021 12:13 AM

by Anonymousreply 48July 29, 2021 12:23 AM

Suni is actually not a bouncy power gymnast like mykyla, simone and chiles, she is the artistic one among the americans. Her execution scores are still being low balled. Americans are being lowballed for being short and stumpy. They are padding the russian bots by giving 8.5 execution scores to account for their lesser difficulty.

(Although to be honest, this team including simone doesnt seem as cut as the previous ones, I think with the exit of evil Karolyis, they probably started feeding them)

by Anonymousreply 49July 29, 2021 12:24 AM

WRONG, R47. Lilia was first going in to the AA. FIG wasn't going to screw that up.

by Anonymousreply 50July 29, 2021 12:27 AM

The Russians, much like Tee-Rump, always tell you exactly what they're up to. They can't help themselves.

by Anonymousreply 51July 29, 2021 12:39 AM

It’s tragic these girls end up in AA at such an early age.

by Anonymousreply 52July 29, 2021 12:39 AM

It's sad what Meth can do to you, huh?

by Anonymousreply 53July 29, 2021 12:45 AM

I don’t give a fuck about gymnastics or gymnasts but why is everyone falling over themselves to praise her for quitting? Is she the Meghan Markle of gymnasts? Where you have to heap underserved praise on her or else you’re CANCELLED for being racist??

by Anonymousreply 54July 29, 2021 12:48 AM

When you tattoo GOAT on yourself, you invite hubris.

By all means let others label you such, but not yourself.

No sympathy here for such arrogance.

Many other Olympians have had much more adversity, kept it to themselves and either triumphed or competed nonetheless.

She took the coward option and chickened out.

She's getting a free pass because she is African American.

White trash would invite less sypmathy.

by Anonymousreply 55July 29, 2021 12:50 AM

The FIG tells you exactly how it cheats when you look at how you are only allowed to file an inquiry on the technical value of your routine... not on the execution.

10.0s for all Russians! 6.5 for all Americans!

by Anonymousreply 56July 29, 2021 12:50 AM

Shannon was first after all events until the 3rd rotation in the all around where she was short on a pass.

USA gymnastics fell apart after the first Karolyi retirement. It looks like they’re going to fall apart again. Why can’t they take what good they did and ditch the bad? The girls had a bit of fear in them regarding the Karolyis.

by Anonymousreply 57July 29, 2021 12:51 AM

R55 many Olympians are just running, swimming or playing with balls they are not doing death defying flips, stupid deplorable!

by Anonymousreply 58July 29, 2021 12:51 AM

International judges always judge Americans harsher. It is why they upped the difficulty.

by Anonymousreply 59July 29, 2021 12:52 AM

Many gymnasts in the past have pulled out due to the twisties, it’s just no one cared.

by Anonymousreply 60July 29, 2021 12:56 AM

Does Shannon own a voodoo doll btw?

by Anonymousreply 61July 29, 2021 12:58 AM

Yes, R61.

by Anonymousreply 62July 29, 2021 1:04 AM

Why does the media worship this girl? I can’t wait until the woke craze is over for good.

by Anonymousreply 63July 29, 2021 1:04 AM

Really, R60? Please let us know which Gold Medal Favorite at the Olympics, or even World Championships, has pulled out because of the Twisties. I'd be interested in knowing, thanks.

by Anonymousreply 64July 29, 2021 1:05 AM

Whatever happened to Gabby Douglas? Is she still around?

by Anonymousreply 65July 29, 2021 1:07 AM

Three time Gold Medalist, Gabby Douglas is doing wonderfully! She continues a thriving career of lying and slut shaming sexual assault victims, thanks for asking!

by Anonymousreply 66July 29, 2021 1:08 AM

So NBC does it again. Showed ONE rotation and now suddenly we are on rotation 4. FUCK THEM!

by Anonymousreply 67July 29, 2021 1:10 AM

The Me should be required to perform their routines shirtless and only wearing their shorts. There'd be much more interest. Ratings galore!

by Anonymousreply 68July 29, 2021 1:12 AM

*The men

by Anonymousreply 69July 29, 2021 1:12 AM

R67 do you have access to the NBC Olympics App? At least their Men's AA coverage is 3 1/2 hours.

by Anonymousreply 70July 29, 2021 1:13 AM

So NBC can show all swimming heat and semis but can’t show all rotations in gymnastics?

by Anonymousreply 71July 29, 2021 1:15 AM

It's also been said that one of the reasons Gymnastics doesn't pull in as large an audience as it used to is because of the change in scoring. Casual viewers can't make sense of the points system or why they see a perfect routine and why someone else with a less perfect routine scores higher.

by Anonymousreply 72July 29, 2021 1:18 AM

Does NBC replay their coverage on demand anywhere?

by Anonymousreply 73July 29, 2021 1:18 AM

I think on Peacock.com you can replay stuff. It's a free streaming service. Never tried but I heard that. I looked at the website the other day.

by Anonymousreply 74July 29, 2021 1:20 AM

Jade didn't compete all four events at Olympic Trials. She was resting an injury and did half of the events.

by Anonymousreply 75July 29, 2021 1:20 AM

Simone should not be pressured into a situation where she could end up paralyzed or even dead.

Poor Kerri Shrug, explained in the article below, got pressured into a vault that was not needed as the US team was far ahead in the lead, broke her ankle and prematurely ended her gymnastics career because of it.

USA Gymnastics is probably going bankrupt due to all of the lawsuits due to the Nassar scandal. Biles is the only one of the women who charged Nassar that is still competing and I think she has filed a lawsuit also.

by Anonymousreply 83July 29, 2021 1:50 AM

r83

a world/Olympic medalist on vault getting lost in her twist and injuring herself badly. Gymnastics is no joke and the gymnasts could legit get themselves hurt or even killed if they are not on their game

by Anonymousreply 84July 29, 2021 1:53 AM

Question: Is Ms. Biles the only female gymnast at the Olympics to have the 'Twisties'? Because if the GOAT with all of her professional help is having them, you'd think we'd hear about lesser gymnasts at the Olympics suffering from the 'twisties' too. Are we to understand that every time we see a gymnast change a double to a single flippy thing, that they have the twisties?

by Anonymousreply 85July 29, 2021 1:55 AM

R84 Was it gruesome? I don’t want to see gruesome.

by Anonymousreply 86July 29, 2021 2:07 AM
What did G Douglas say, exactly?

I said what I said.

by Anonymousreply 90July 29, 2021 3:38 AM

R90 Seriously, what did she say?

by Anonymousreply 91July 29, 2021 3:43 AM

R89 if you really must know...

After several of her teammates revealed they had been sexually assaulted by Nassar, she essentially Tweeted that it was sad but maybe if some of them didn't dress like whores, they wouldn't have deserved it. I think the words, proper or modest, ie, "if they behaved more like ladies and dressed modestly," it wouldn't have happened. I believe she was referring to Aly or Mackayla, I don't remember.

Simone fired back a Tweet, not addressing Gabby specifically, but everyone knew what she was referring to.

Gabby got a lot of heat and immediately then claimed she TOO was a victim of Larry!

by Anonymousreply 92July 29, 2021 3:45 AM

When the Nasser allegations came out, she said she wasn’t molested, in part because she dresses modestly. Huge blowback, then the next day or so she came out & admitted he’d molested her too.

by Anonymousreply 93July 29, 2021 3:46 AM

My bad, Simone DID directly address Gabby.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 94July 29, 2021 3:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 95July 29, 2021 3:55 AM

Gabby... talk about an Olympic AA Champion that should have an asterisk next to their name as, "only won because someone didn't qualify."

by Anonymousreply 96July 29, 2021 3:59 AM

R96 But that’s the name of the game. Those are the rules. If you’re going by that, Gutsu should definitely have an asterisk by her name.

I hate Gabby now. Worst AA ever.

by Anonymousreply 97July 29, 2021 4:01 AM

Olympic "Champions"

1972: Tourischeva* 1976: Comanaeci 1980: Davydova* 1984: Retton* 1988: Shushonova* 1992: Gutsu* 1996: Podkopayeva* 2000: Amanar* 2004: Patterson* 2008: Liukin* 2012: Douglas* 2016: Biles*

Only one Champion since 1972 won because she was truly the best and doesn't need an asterisk next to her name!

by Anonymousreply 98July 29, 2021 4:09 AM

R97 the rules have long needed to be overhauled. All Around and Individual Event qualifications should be separate and have nothing to do with the Team Competition. I don't think other sports mix their qualifications like this.

by Anonymousreply 99July 29, 2021 4:12 AM

If Simone had competed and won the AA this year, at 24, she would have been the oldest gymnast since 1964 to win. As it stands, her win in 2016 made her the oldest since 1988.

by Anonymousreply 100July 29, 2021 4:15 AM

Back to the subject of NBC's shitty coverage... thinking back on it, even in 1996 when the Olympics were in Atlanta, they didn't air the competition live. They delayed it for Prime Time.

by Anonymousreply 101July 29, 2021 4:17 AM

could you elaborate r98? Why do the others all have asterixis?

by Anonymousreply 102July 29, 2021 4:18 AM

R101 Exactly! I knew the US won team Gold so I wasn’t freaking out when Keri fell on her first vault. This shouldn’t be about what is live. In Rio, it was a nightmare of swimming for hours because it was all live. The gymnastics coverage was terrible but nothing like how bad it is this year. The coverage is shockingly bad. I can’t see how USA gymnastics doesn’t throw a fit over this. They literally showed Brady M on two events and Sam M on one. That was it. They showed only THREE performances by the US men and barely any of the others.

by Anonymousreply 103July 29, 2021 4:22 AM

All Olympic athletes are under pressure, Simone was pulling a hissy fit.

by Anonymousreply 104July 29, 2021 4:24 AM

R102, it was mostly a joke but:

1972: Tourischeva --- Only won because Olga faultered!!!! xoxo, Olga Korbut

1980: Davydova--- Only won because it was in the USSR and the judges fucked with Nadia's score!!! xoxo, Nadia Comaneci

1984: Retton---- Only won because it was in the US, the Soviets Boycotted, and the New Life Rule hadn't been implemented!!! xoxo, Eckaterina Szabo

1988: Shushonova--- See New Life Rule above and the FIG lowballed Silivas because of her haircut!!!! xoxo, Daniela Silivas

1992: Gutsu--- She didn't even qualify!!! And she only won because the New life Rule was put into place!!! xoxo, Shannon Miller

1996: Podkapayeva--- She only won because the FIG pre-ordained her in 1995. The judges wouldn't properly deduct her and they would not let an Asian on the podium!!!! xoxo, Mo Huilan

2000: Amanar---- She was only named Champion because her teammate had it snatched from her for having the sniffles AND of course.. THE VAULT.!!!! dxoxo, Svetlana Khorkina and Andreea Raducan

2004: Carly Patterson--- She only won because the judges didn't like how beautiful I was!!!!xoxo, Svetlana Khorkina

2008: Nastia Liukin---- Bitch could barely do a backflip. She only won because of who her Daddy was!!!! xoxo, Shawn Johnson.

2012: Gabby Douglas---- She only won because I had to do the heavy lifting in the Team competition and I didn't qualify!!!! xoxo, Jordyn Wieber

2018: Simone Biles---- She only won because she gets a pass to take Ritalin, a banned substance!!!!! xoxo, Gabby Douglas & Shannon Miller

by Anonymousreply 105July 29, 2021 4:35 AM

2016: Wouldn’t that be xoxo Aly Raisman?

by Anonymousreply 114July 29, 2021 8:50 AM

by Anonymousreply 115July 29, 2021 9:59 AM

Ready for the judges to hand the first two spots to the Russians and barely give third to Sunisa!

by Anonymousreply 116July 29, 2021 10:28 AM

I think the judges are probably itching to give the AA gold to a Russian. If Melnikova has a clean meet, I bet she wins. One thing that has really surprised me is how much the judges are holding down Suni Lee's floor scores compared to the 2019 World Championships where she got silver behind Simone Biles. Now Lee is scoring about five or more tenths lower than she had been.

The Men's AA was a great competition. It was a four-way battle for the Gold between Daiki Hashimoto, Nikita Nagorny, Xioa Ruoteng and Sun Wei. Hashimoto won gold, Ruoteng silver and Nagorny bronze. It all came down to the last rotation on high bar. Hashimoto is much better on high bar than the other three and when he hit a clean routine, I knew he had the gold medal. I can't remember when it was that close between four competitors. Even a couple minor mistakes made the difference in the medal color for the podium. I can only hope a Simone-less Women's AA is equally as exciting.

by Anonymousreply 117July 29, 2021 10:43 AM

I am really sorry for her. Not optimal for others but who ever had panic attacks can probably relate. She didn't do this on purpose. I hope she gets better soon.

by Anonymousreply 118July 29, 2021 10:47 AM

She will always be remembered as a ‘huge’ champion who blew up Rio with GOLD 🥇. Thank god 🙏🏻 or whoever, that we’re not measured by our worst day(s)

by Anonymousreply 119July 29, 2021 10:49 AM

Anyone else hate the forced groupings and Olympic order for the AA?

I preferred when they were all in mixed groups and random order. It felt more exciting that way.

by Anonymousreply 120July 29, 2021 10:51 AM
She seems in desperate need of a complete, radical makeover.

Not everyone can be a natural beauty like ME!

by Anonymousreply 121July 29, 2021 10:52 AM

It's kind of refreshing that Jade doesn't really seem to wear makeup and doll herself up like a whore. I saw one promo where they did put makeup on her and she looked like an entirely different person.

by Anonymousreply 122July 29, 2021 10:55 AM

Did anyone else's feed get interrupted in the middle of a routine for a commercial?

Do better NBC!

by Anonymousreply 123July 29, 2021 10:58 AM

Sunisa delivered on vault.

by Anonymousreply 124July 29, 2021 10:58 AM

I still can't believe some of these gymnasts are doing double twisting Yurchenkos as a competitive vault today... the entire Soviet team back in 1991, including Boguinskyaya was capable of a DTY.

by Anonymousreply 125July 29, 2021 11:00 AM

Bridget Sloan is way better than Nastia. NBC should switch.

by Anonymousreply 126July 29, 2021 11:03 AM

The reason the coverage is horrible these days is because both Nastia and Bridget are awful. Neither of them deliver like Elfi!

by Anonymousreply 127July 29, 2021 11:05 AM

Do these little Russian whores eat?

by Anonymousreply 128July 29, 2021 11:07 AM

How nice it looks like the Russians "randomly," got the prime late spots in the rotation. Do we bet they go last on all the events?

by Anonymousreply 129July 29, 2021 11:10 AM

Oh Bridget... she's Russian... of course the judges aren't going to take the tenth!

by Anonymousreply 130July 29, 2021 11:12 AM

You see it already with Melnikova outscoring Suni on vault. Suni's vault was better but somehow scores lower.

by Anonymousreply 131July 29, 2021 11:14 AM

This is some serious bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 132July 29, 2021 11:14 AM

Again, it isn't about Biles's "toughness" or "patriotism" or "shafting her teammates."

It is, quite simply, about her hubris.

Don't get into a betting match with the gods. They'll win and laugh every time.

by Anonymousreply 133July 29, 2021 11:15 AM
Don't get into a betting match with the gods. They'll win and laugh every time.

Pretty sure it has more to do with my prayers and the needles I've been sticking into my Simone doll!

by Anonymousreply 134July 29, 2021 11:16 AM

I haven't been watching NBC's Primetime coverage... have they completely stopped airing the 15 minute fluff pieces where we learn about how tragic, poor, and injured these athletes are?

by Anonymousreply 135July 29, 2021 11:17 AM

It wouldn't be an AA without one of the Chinese gymnasts falling!

by Anonymousreply 136July 29, 2021 11:18 AM

China is flopping hard these Olympics.

by Anonymousreply 137July 29, 2021 11:20 AM

Lu Yufei's disappointment makes me feel for her.

by Anonymousreply 138July 29, 2021 11:20 AM

R137 with the exception of 2000 and 2008, when haven't they?

by Anonymousreply 139July 29, 2021 11:21 AM

Do the judges still charge for an Inquiry? It used to be that if you filed one you had to pay a couple of hundred dollars, in cash, upfront, in order to file one. If you lost your inquiry/appeal, you didn't get the money back. Basically, it was bullshit to dissuade you from questioning the judges and preventing an athlete from exposing the judges' cheating.

by Anonymousreply 140July 29, 2021 11:26 AM

It would be nice if the Brazilian medaled over one of the Russians.

by Anonymousreply 141July 29, 2021 11:33 AM

I like that Rothlisberger has seemingly done his best to learn how to pronounce most of the athlete's names correctly.

by Anonymousreply 142July 29, 2021 11:35 AM

R142 His voice is terrible though, and kind of annoying.

by Anonymousreply 143July 29, 2021 11:36 AM

Is Simone even in the building? It would be nice for her to cheer on her teammates but at the same time, would probably also be a distraction, taking the attention away from the rest of the gymnasts on the floor.

by Anonymousreply 144July 29, 2021 11:36 AM

R144 yep

by Anonymousreply 145July 29, 2021 11:37 AM

R143 it's not any worse than Tim Dagget's.

by Anonymousreply 146July 29, 2021 11:38 AM

R139 They might leave these games with Zero medals on womens side.

by Anonymousreply 147July 29, 2021 11:38 AM

R146 Don’t get me started on that closet case’s voice.

by Anonymousreply 148July 29, 2021 11:39 AM

Did someone say closet case?

by Anonymousreply 149July 29, 2021 11:40 AM

Bridget laughing when some of the gymnasts fall is so bitchy.... I love it!

by Anonymousreply 150July 29, 2021 11:43 AM

R150... I thought I imagined that, hah.

by Anonymousreply 151July 29, 2021 11:45 AM

How convenient the Russians "randomly" got late draws in the second rotation too!

How lucky for them!

by Anonymousreply 152July 29, 2021 11:46 AM

Angelina is exactly the kind of pretty the FIG wants as the AA Champion. Not as pretty as the Painted Bird of Odessa... but she'll do!

by Anonymousreply 153July 29, 2021 11:50 AM

The Russians will fall on balance beam again.

by Anonymousreply 154July 29, 2021 11:53 AM

r152

not lucky... just the way it had been since they have the same rotation order for about 10 years now

by Anonymousreply 155July 29, 2021 11:54 AM

R154 so what? If they do they'll still score 15.5!

by Anonymousreply 156July 29, 2021 11:55 AM

Yes, but they're "luckily" getting the later draws in each rotation. So convenient!

by Anonymousreply 157July 29, 2021 11:56 AM

At the halfway point, If no one falls off anything the final standings will be Andrade, Melinkova, Lee.

by Anonymousreply 158July 29, 2021 12:01 PM

Well Carey fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 159July 29, 2021 12:03 PM

Dismounts off bars haven't changed since 1992.

by Anonymousreply 160July 29, 2021 12:06 PM

Bridget joking that the beam might be slanted... after 2000, if I were a coach I'd be measuring and leveling every single damn event before my athlete got up.

by Anonymousreply 161July 29, 2021 12:08 PM

Whoever has that Ed Sheeran floor music is unfortunate.

by Anonymousreply 162July 29, 2021 12:13 PM

R162 it's one of the Chinese gymnasts.

by Anonymousreply 163July 29, 2021 12:14 PM

The worst rotations to start on have to be Beam or Floor. I'd want to start on Bars.

by Anonymousreply 164July 29, 2021 12:15 PM

The Americans seem to like these Russian whores maybe they aren’t bitches like previous ones?.

by Anonymousreply 165July 29, 2021 12:16 PM

Funny that John says it shows such sportsmanship for the US team to be shouting encouragement for Melinkova... they were obviously trying to fuck with her!

by Anonymousreply 166July 29, 2021 12:16 PM

Word!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 167July 29, 2021 12:17 PM

That's sweet of you, R165. If there's one thing you never do is give the Russians the benefit of the doubt!

They shouldn't even be competing.... they should not have been allowed to send a delegation.

by Anonymousreply 168July 29, 2021 12:17 PM

I thought for sure Suni was gonna be off the beam.

by Anonymousreply 169July 29, 2021 12:22 PM

Sunisa saved an almost near disaster on her wolf turn. She is not taking any steps on landings. She’s got this!

by Anonymousreply 170July 29, 2021 12:22 PM

The problem for Suni looks like Floor Exercise where everyone in the top 6, it looks like, outscored her in Quals.

by Anonymousreply 171July 29, 2021 12:24 PM

Not good that Suni's score is taking so long.

by Anonymousreply 172July 29, 2021 12:24 PM

I thought for sure Andrade would have messed up by now but she came to slay and medal today.

by Anonymousreply 173July 29, 2021 12:28 PM

Really hope that Suni can pull this off...

No matter who wins though there's going to be an asterisk after their name!

by Anonymousreply 174July 29, 2021 12:30 PM

I'm actually surprised the judges aren't low balling Suni as much as I thought they would. I guess they're just really glad to not have to hand Simone the title.

by Anonymousreply 175July 29, 2021 12:31 PM

Advantage Andrade going to floor. If she hits, I think this is hers.

by Anonymousreply 176July 29, 2021 12:34 PM

What's the point separation between everyone?

Andrade scored .7 more than Lee in Quals. Melinkova had .6 ahead of Lee in quals and .3 in Finals.

by Anonymousreply 177July 29, 2021 12:38 PM

What gets me is the CHinese team and how they don't build up their strength on Floor and vault. With the exception of 2008, it's been this way for them for 30 years.

They got it together for 2008... it's amazing they didn't keep it up.

by Anonymousreply 178July 29, 2021 12:39 PM

Enjoying watching Nina Derwael. She should have a good chance for a medal on bars on Sunday.

by Anonymousreply 179July 29, 2021 12:39 PM

IN the last rotation did they even show a single floor or vault?`

by Anonymousreply 180July 29, 2021 12:44 PM

If Sunisa wins she'd be the first person of Asian descent at the top of the AA podium, right?

by Anonymousreply 181July 29, 2021 12:44 PM

So it's just the Americans who don't bother to dance on the floor.

I will say I'm glad to not have to watch Simone's awful floor routine.

by Anonymousreply 182July 29, 2021 12:46 PM

My sleep cycle is so messed up getting up at 4 am since Saturday to watch gymnastics live. What a difference between live and the dumb prime time coverage.

I’m in love with Suni and the Belgian young gal - Nina. Nina’s lines and moves are so elegant.

by Anonymousreply 183July 29, 2021 12:48 PM

Angelina is ridiculously pretty, too bad she is most likely a whore.

by Anonymousreply 184July 29, 2021 12:48 PM

I enjoyed Suni more than Angelina. She deserves it.

by Anonymousreply 185July 29, 2021 12:51 PM

Come to think of it it's actually a lot more fun and interesting to watch an AA without Simone competing. It's nice that there's a little suspense.

by Anonymousreply 186July 29, 2021 12:51 PM

Andrade is going to win it.

by Anonymousreply 187July 29, 2021 12:53 PM

She has to stay in bound.

by Anonymousreply 188July 29, 2021 12:53 PM

Suni has got this, wow. An asian wins it and not from China.

by Anonymousreply 189July 29, 2021 12:54 PM

I've long said an out of bounds needs to be more than a 1/10 deduction. That's the same deduction it's been for 40 plus years. An out of bounds needs to be a percentage off your score.

by Anonymousreply 190July 29, 2021 12:55 PM

I'll be really happy if that just gave that to Sunisa. I really like her.

by Anonymousreply 191July 29, 2021 12:55 PM

Suni was cool as a cucumber all day, she doesn’t even seem that excited?

by Anonymousreply 192July 29, 2021 12:55 PM

Congrats to Sunisa!!! So well deserved!

This was worth staying up to watch!

by Anonymousreply 193July 29, 2021 12:57 PM

Sucks for jade to go last.

by Anonymousreply 194July 29, 2021 12:57 PM

Wait Angelina got bronze? Hmm I thought she deserved silver. I l grew to like her.

by Anonymousreply 195July 29, 2021 12:58 PM

Jade’s floor music is pretty cool.

by Anonymousreply 196July 29, 2021 12:59 PM

Suni! I’m crying. She is so cool and does so well under pressure!

by Anonymousreply 197July 29, 2021 12:59 PM
My sleep cycle is so messed up getting up at 4 am since Saturday to watch gymnastics live.

Why does it matter so much to you?

by Anonymousreply 198July 29, 2021 1:09 PM

Wow, Suni wins! Somewhere Nellie Kim is having a meltdown that another American won the Olympic gold. That's five Olympic AA titles in a row for the US.

I thought Suni was the best today. I thought Andrade had a real shot, but her two out of bounds on floor sealed her fate. Melnikova in bronze seems right, too. Who'd have thought the judges would get it right?

by Anonymousreply 199July 29, 2021 1:11 PM

Nellie Kim is shoving daggers in her pussy right now because there's no way in hell she ever wanted an Asian to be at the top of the podium since she never got to be.

by Anonymousreply 200July 29, 2021 1:15 PM

I honestly think the judges were just glad to not have to hand it to Simone. Having an actual competition to watch actually makes it more fun to watch the sport.

by Anonymousreply 201July 29, 2021 1:16 PM

Suni seems so deserving so I'm super happy for her.

This coverage was a little over 2 1/2 hours long.. and I still don't think we saw that many routines.

by Anonymousreply 202July 29, 2021 1:18 PM

I can’t see Sunisa being back for Paris she will be a one olympics and done like Carly.

by Anonymousreply 203July 29, 2021 1:18 PM

I didn't realize the athletes had to put their own medals on their necks.

by Anonymousreply 204July 29, 2021 1:19 PM

Now the country can put Simone behind and going forward celebrate the Asian girl.

by Anonymousreply 205July 29, 2021 1:19 PM

And just like that... the trajectory of Suni's life has changed completely.

by Anonymousreply 206July 29, 2021 1:21 PM

r200

except she did 10 times in world and Olympic competition with 6 of those being individual medals as opposed to team and 3 Individual gold medals at the Olympics

by Anonymousreply 207July 29, 2021 1:21 PM

Too bad peacock does not show the family's reaction.

by Anonymousreply 208July 29, 2021 1:22 PM

I'm surprised Sunisa is allowed to compete with those eyelashes.

by Anonymousreply 209July 29, 2021 1:23 PM

R207... not as AA Champion, haha. Nellie Kim sucks!

by Anonymousreply 210July 29, 2021 1:24 PM

I hate the dyke Nellie Kim also.

by Anonymousreply 211July 29, 2021 1:26 PM

I do love that this generation of gymnasts genuinely seem to have camaraderie and genuine affection towards one another.

by Anonymousreply 212July 29, 2021 1:27 PM

R212 I hate that, I miss when the Russians like Slutvana Whorekina were complete total bitches that hated the Americans.

by Anonymousreply 213July 29, 2021 1:29 PM

Svetlana Khorkina at R211, you forgot to sign your name.

by Anonymousreply 214July 29, 2021 1:29 PM

R213, Whorekina hated everyone, including her own teammates.

by Anonymousreply 215July 29, 2021 1:29 PM

Sunisa now has to send Simone a huge fruit basket and give her her first born.

by Anonymousreply 216July 29, 2021 1:33 PM

You not clutch sis, get a better sports psychologist next time

by Anonymousreply 217July 29, 2021 1:36 PM

I love this story so much. I wouldn't have mind seeing a fluff piece on it!

by Anonymousreply 218July 29, 2021 1:37 PM

I thought Sunisa could pull this off. So happy for her.

by Anonymousreply 219July 29, 2021 1:37 PM

yeah bitch, who needs you? Lee is da BEST!

by Anonymousreply 220July 29, 2021 1:38 PM

Morgan Hurd must really be hurting now... Morgan and her glasses could have been the first Asian Olympic Champion!

Shannon, maybe you can give Morgan one of your special dolls... in the likeness of Tom Forrester.

by Anonymousreply 221July 29, 2021 1:40 PM

R216 Now Suni gets dancing with the stars, a movie and book deal. Thanks Simone for getting the twisties.

by Anonymousreply 222July 29, 2021 1:41 PM

Suni was still wearing a boot last month and in the classics, could only compete beam and bars. People thought she was only aiming for specialist spot. Simone was already unraveling at trials. Suni did beat Simone on day 2 of trials. Plus her nails and lashes are just quuen!

by Anonymousreply 223July 29, 2021 1:42 PM

Totally agree R209. Those fake eyelashes are dumb and so sad. More power to well-scrubbed natural Jade. But Suni came through!

by Anonymousreply 224July 29, 2021 1:42 PM

Suni is the REAL clutch performer. Suni, not Simone, IS Team America!

by Anonymousreply 225July 29, 2021 1:43 PM

R221 Morgan definitely needs to get a hold of those voodoo dolls , and then Paris will be her time to shine.

by Anonymousreply 226July 29, 2021 1:43 PM

Morgan Hurd is injured. She was slated to peak last year then got injured.

by Anonymousreply 227July 29, 2021 1:43 PM

wow, I have great respect for Lee, she is so tough mentally!

Her father fell off a ladder helping a neighbor with yard work and was paralyzed from the chest down. she was going to compete at the U.S. National Gymnastics Championship just 2 days after her father's accident. Suni contemplated not going to nationals after her dad’s fall, but at his insistence, went and competed.

In that championship, she earned a gold medal on uneven bars and a second place in the all-around behind Simone Biles — an event they were supposed to compete in together in the Olympic individual finals Thursday, before Biles withdrew.

by Anonymousreply 228July 29, 2021 1:43 PM

We don't need old ass Biles, we have lots of new, and up coming talent !

by Anonymousreply 229July 29, 2021 1:44 PM

Has Biles withdrawn from the Bars event?

by Anonymousreply 230July 29, 2021 1:45 PM

No, r174. No asterisks are added because of the absence of anyone.

Name another example of an added asterisk other than Roger Maris.

by Anonymousreply 231July 29, 2021 1:45 PM

R227 Maybe it’s best Morgan got injured since Tokyo has been nothing but bad juju for female Chinese gymnasts.

by Anonymousreply 232July 29, 2021 1:47 PM

No we dont, our coordinator is pretty bad, and the russians are coming up with their own gymnastics factory. The US is all about participation trophies and mental health and they cant tell anybody to get off carbs anymore.

by Anonymousreply 233July 29, 2021 1:47 PM

You've already been given your list. Keep up!

by Anonymousreply 234July 29, 2021 1:47 PM

R233, don't worry. Tom is no longer Team Coordinator as of next week.

by Anonymousreply 235July 29, 2021 1:49 PM

Suni Lee wins AA gold. But, of course, the only thing she will hear is how she only won because Biles wasn't there. No publicity for lee - she's the wrong " Person of Color."

by Anonymousreply 238July 29, 2021 2:02 PM

by Anonymousreply 240July 29, 2021 2:06 PM

SUNI beat biles on day 2 of trials. Let that sink in…. Biles peaked early and has been unravelling since then…

by Anonymousreply 241July 29, 2021 2:21 PM

Why is Sunisa Lee going to Auburn for college of all places? Spending four years in Alabama sounds like hell to me.

by Anonymousreply 242July 29, 2021 4:16 PM

R242, you mean why WAS she going to go to Auburn.

by Anonymousreply 243July 29, 2021 4:17 PM

Aren’t college athletes able to get paid now?

by Anonymousreply 244July 29, 2021 4:18 PM

Simone is really sweet to Sunisa on her instagram she seems genuinely thrilled for her.

by Anonymousreply 245July 29, 2021 4:20 PM

She'll be going to college. Education is paramount in Asian homes.

by Anonymousreply 246July 29, 2021 6:42 PM

I thought Lee might pull through after hearing that story about competing while her father was in the hospital. That's someone who knows how to focus. The most graceful of the American gymnasts as well.

I really blame the coordinator and Biles' coaches for a lot of this. She'd clearly been having issues for a while--the kind that with a less-talented gymnast would have kept her out of the finals or the team in the first place. Everyone took Biles for granted because she is so damn talented that she doesn't have to be at her best to win. But the red flags were there.

It's clear that she wanted to retire before this and that she's angry at the federation, understandably, over Nasser. I'm sorry her career is ending this way because it does leave a mark on her legacy--the gymnast who quit and left her team in the lurch. People can say nice things about the need for mental health, but she's not going to be seen as the role model that she was. It's a real shame because she was a good face for the sport--impressively talented, PR savvy, I never heard of her putting a foot wrong on that front (looking at you, Gabby Douglas).

I do wonder if there's something physical going on just because her performance has deteriorated so quickly in the last few months--all those step outs during qualifying, getting lost in the air. Some inner ear thing maybe?

Anyway, hurray for Lee. Yeah, her win will always be tied to Biles dropping out, but there are worse things than to be known for rising magnificently to the occasion.

by Anonymousreply 247July 29, 2021 6:58 PM

Yes, the trajectory of her life just changed enormously. She will always be introduced as “Gold Medalist in the women’s all-around in Tokyo”…and, if she plays her cards right, never has to get a real job in her life. Tara Lipinski nabbed gold in skating at 15 and never looked back!

by Anonymousreply 248July 29, 2021 7:22 PM

YAY! We kept the AA GOLD!

And NBC will show 36 minutes of it tonight move on to even MORE SWIMMING heats and semis! Woohooo

I do wonder who badly they’ll fuck this up tonight. Each time I think they can’t fuck up more, they do.

by Anonymousreply 249July 29, 2021 7:29 PM

R249 is that a challenge?

by Anonymousreply 250July 29, 2021 7:41 PM

Congratulations to Sunisa! Now I'm going to do what I do best (second to balancing a 20 lb scrunchie on my head)... and make today ALL ABOUT ME!

Smooches..

by Anonymousreply 251July 29, 2021 7:45 PM

R250 I have NO DOUBT they could do that.

by Anonymousreply 252July 29, 2021 7:59 PM
Shannon Miller, in Atlanta, lead all gymnasts after the team and compulsories. She lead all gymnasts after two rotations in the all around.

Miller was second after two rotations, behind Dawes. Both fucked up on FX.

by Anonymousreply 253July 29, 2021 8:38 PM

I dont take it against Simone that she withdrew, she did the right thing, but it is not bad to say she had a mental breakdown and wilted on the big stage because it is what it is. Was she under bigger pressure than anybody else? Yes. But that isnt the other gymnasts’ fault and Andrade had the weight of Brazil on her and Suni the Hmong nation as well. She really peaked physically and mentally too early and by the 2nd day of trials, Suni managed to beat her. There shouldnt be any question mark at all, Suni had what it takes to take advantage of any opening. I dont see why anybody should be hating on Simone, she had been extremely gracious and just a classy person throughout all of this. Her only mistake is calling herself goat before the olympics even started.

by Anonymousreply 254July 29, 2021 8:39 PM

Suni DID beat Biles on day 2 of trials after Simone fell(and she may have fallen twice but I forget)

by Anonymousreply 255July 29, 2021 8:41 PM

Miller was first.

So it would have been another 1-2 finish for Team USA if Simone would have competed.

by Anonymousreply 256July 29, 2021 9:03 PM
She will remain the most decorated female gymnast.

Miller received her share of undeserved medals and over-scoring. As did Khorkina, Milosivici, and Gogean.

by Anonymousreply 257July 29, 2021 9:08 PM

R257 They ALL did.

by Anonymousreply 258July 29, 2021 9:21 PM

R257 shut your lying, whore, face. Shannon earned everything she ever got. And God clearly is in her side as she's magically still keeping her record.

But you're absolutely right about that cunt Gina Gogean!

by Anonymousreply 259July 29, 2021 10:27 PM

God or voodoo magic?

by Anonymousreply 260July 29, 2021 10:35 PM

Shannon did deserve everything she got. She was so steady and had the most consistent stuck landings.

Suni Lee winning was fantastic. Rebecca was great and I felt a bit for her. Suni missed a wolf turn and Rebecca stepped out of bounds so both had mistakes so I feel Suni was the rightful winner.

by Anonymousreply 261July 29, 2021 11:11 PM

Yes, I especially deserved the title 1992 Olympic Trials Champion! Even though by the rules, I could not be named Champion, but USGF gave me the title anyway as part of their effort to systematically break down that Pumpkin Shaped Zmezkal!

by Anonymousreply 262July 29, 2021 11:19 PM
Suni was the rightful winner IN THE ABSENCE OF GOAT SIMONE BILES.

Fixed that for you.

by Anonymousreply 263July 29, 2021 11:19 PM
Shannon did deserve everything she got.

Absolutely not! Not the '92 FX bronze and neither of her AA Golds! Let's not even get started on this joke of a compulsory bars routine which netted a 9.525 overscore -- just one of countless examples of her being overscored.

Who is fanboying for this Oklahoma 40-something-year-old frau anyhow?

by Anonymousreply 264July 29, 2021 11:22 PM

If Simone had competed, she would have lot to Suni, period. Simone has a broken headspace that can’t handle pressure, while Suni has the spirit and drive of a champion that overcomes adversity and rises to the occasion.

by Anonymousreply 265July 29, 2021 11:27 PM

Lot = lost

by Anonymousreply 266July 29, 2021 11:33 PM

Oops, forgot to sign my post at R264.

by Anonymousreply 267July 29, 2021 11:38 PM

Simone who? Yesterday's news.

by Anonymousreply 268July 29, 2021 11:40 PM

R 265 is absolutely correct. Biles would have been defeated and lost a lot of lucrative endorsements. GOATS don't quit.

by Anonymousreply 269July 29, 2021 11:48 PM

Shannon did deserve her titles. She was under and over scored like all of them. Russians are more overscored. Fact.

Lets get ready for the 13 minutes NBC will give gymnastics tonight. Starts at 7pm. CST here. I bet coverage is over by 8:15.

by Anonymousreply 270July 29, 2021 11:58 PM

Eat my diapered ass, R265. I'm QUEEN of the Compulsories!

by Anonymousreply 271July 30, 2021 12:04 AM

One thing about Shanon... as the GOAT she never abandoned her team during competition... well except that one time!

by Anonymousreply 272July 30, 2021 12:05 AM

R272 When did Shannon abandon the team? What am I missing?

by Anonymousreply 273July 30, 2021 12:07 AM

Simone Biles abandoning her team clearly shows she's stalking me and trying to carbon copy everything I do. True GOATS dont copy... I'm the original!!!

by Anonymousreply 274July 30, 2021 12:07 AM

R273 let me tell you about Shannon abandoning the team...

by Anonymousreply 275July 30, 2021 12:08 AM

All I can tell you, R273 is that if it were me, "I would still be here and so would my athlete!"

by Anonymousreply 276July 30, 2021 12:09 AM

NBC's Primetime Coverage is on now and it sucks because once again, we know TIm and Nastia do their commentary after the fact and they're already doing PR for Simone by reiterating over and over how Suni finishes second to Simone all the time.

by Anonymousreply 277July 30, 2021 12:10 AM

Um.. they're already showing SUni's vault? Wasn't she actually later in the rotation? I thought Jade vaulted before she did in the earlier coverage.

by Anonymousreply 278July 30, 2021 12:11 AM

Shut up Shannon you were washed by age 20.

by Anonymousreply 279July 30, 2021 12:11 AM
Shut up Shannon you were washed by age 20.

And by 19 I was the most decorated US Olympic Gymnast of All Time.. a record which I STILL HOLD 25 years later! GOAT!

by Anonymousreply 280July 30, 2021 12:13 AM

R273, Shannon abandoned the U.S. team at 1994 World Team Championships after the compulsories and after that embarrassing performance at R265. This was right around the time Shannon was starting to get chunky.

by Anonymousreply 281July 30, 2021 12:16 AM

Jade Carey's mom eerily looks like Vanessa Atler.

by Anonymousreply 282July 30, 2021 12:17 AM

R282 Are we sure it isn’t Vanessa Atlar?

by Anonymousreply 283July 30, 2021 12:20 AM

Yes, R283. Jade's mom would have to be twice the size to be Vanessa.

by Anonymousreply 284July 30, 2021 12:25 AM

I'll say this... watching the top qualifiers, is sort of a stark contrast to Simone because for the most part, they all have better form and more aesthetically pleasing gymnastics than Simone. I'm particularly impressed with Andrade's execution.

by Anonymousreply 285July 30, 2021 12:31 AM

Oh yes, we love a good Fluff Piece!

by Anonymousreply 286July 30, 2021 12:32 AM

THere's nothing better than having your hot daddy at your side and coachign you!

by Anonymousreply 287July 30, 2021 12:32 AM

Wow Nike jumped on the bandwagon quick and already came out with a "respecting Mental Health," commercial.

by Anonymousreply 288July 30, 2021 12:40 AM

Shannon still won WORLDS in ‘94.

by Anonymousreply 289July 30, 2021 12:45 AM

You mean she was handed a second World Title, R299.

Asterisks next to both her AA titles since someone better faltered two years in a row!

by Anonymousreply 290July 30, 2021 12:48 AM

Her quitting the team competition was so obviously a premeditated decision. And I am willing to bet that decision was something she made long before these olympics . Basically she goes in to these olympics with huge financial endorsements and marketability as the 'GOAT'. But she knows full well, if she loses, well those spoils will diminish pretty quickly. So she decided that yes, she will go to Olympics, but if she finds that she is not going to win, and as such risk losing the financial windfalls, well, she will pull out, so her sponsors can't ever say she 'lost' or was beaten. As fate would have it, she screws up the vault, unintentionally, however the immediate march out of the arena with her 'doctor' and returns a shockingly short time later to announce that she is finished with the team competition. Then the next day she drips out the info that she out of the AA. It's all so predictable; just follow the money trail folks. She must have decided a long time ago: at the first sign of any tarnish to the reputation, I'm not gonna fight and risk it losing it all, if I'm not going to win, I'm pulling the rip-cord immediately.

by Anonymousreply 291July 30, 2021 12:49 AM

R291 I mean you could have shortened that to simply:

Biles took a shitload of Russian money to throw the competition!

by Anonymousreply 292July 30, 2021 12:52 AM

Good old NBC Primetime Coverage. I had forgotten the rule is only one routine before 10 minutes of commercials kick in.

by Anonymousreply 293July 30, 2021 12:52 AM

Chellsie, Jade's daddy is a DILF, too.

by Anonymousreply 294July 30, 2021 1:00 AM
Biles took a shitload of Russian money to throw the competition!

Except it wasn't Russian money, it was American money.

by Anonymousreply 295July 30, 2021 1:06 AM

r289

there were TWO worlds that year, Shannon did win the AA/EF worlds which was held in the spring and she only did compulsories at the TEAM worlds in the fall of 94. IIRC Shannon and Nunno still maintain that they told US Gymnastics that they would only do compulsories as they were not in optional form. USAG kept hoping that Shannon would get competition fever and decide to compete in optionals even though Nunno was clear that she would NOT

by Anonymousreply 296July 30, 2021 1:08 AM

Yes, Shannon and Steve are good at sticking to bullshit stories, R296. She also continues to maintain that she , "won," the 1992 Olympic Trials.

Regardless of her not competing, she and Steve showed what cunts they were by not sticking around to even support her teammates. She got the fuck out of there immediately after her shitty bars routine.

by Anonymousreply 297July 30, 2021 1:21 AM
2004: Carly Patterson--- She only won because the judges didn't like how beautiful I was!!!!xoxo, Svetlana Khorkina

Oh, Whorekina. This is my favorite routine of yours of all time! I'm so very glad we escaped ever having you as Olympic AA champ.

And the assumption that you would win had it not been for the vault fiasco? Bitch, you fell [bold]four[/bold] times at an Olympics on your only decent piece of apparatus (the bars)!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 298July 30, 2021 2:16 AM

I like how NBC doesn't think Gymnastics is important enough to provide decent coverage but at the same time, because they know how popular it is, they withhold their shitty coverage of it in order to hold viewers hostage and force them to sit through swimming, which they're happy to broadcast every heat.

by Anonymousreply 299July 30, 2021 2:20 AM

Thank you, r241. It's illogical to say that Suni won only because Simone didn't compete. What we witnessed of Biles to that point was not Gold-Medal caliber. Suni might have surpassed her fair and square.

Rio Gold was not an automatic Tokyo Gold.

by Anonymousreply 300July 30, 2021 2:21 AM

What sucks is that Simone's reputation gives her a pass and allows it so that it gets to cast doubt on the success of the other athletes.

Everyone will say, yeah, but if Simone had competed she would have won... Nope. Youd ont know if she would have competed, been a basket case and completely tarnished her reputation.

She didn't compete becuase she wasn't in the mental state to win... Suni was. That's part of the competition, right?

by Anonymousreply 301July 30, 2021 2:28 AM

Getting really sick of Daggett repeating, "we have to remember the woman who was supposed to come and win all of this, isn't here!"

Tim, you only won medals because the Soviet Bloc countries didn't attend your Olympics, so STFU!

by Anonymousreply 302July 30, 2021 2:31 AM

R291, You make eminent sense. This scenario would account for the undetectable "mental issues" as the excuse.

But once we start to go in that direction, will a sign-post be one that says her 1 1/2 turns instead of 2 1/2 on the vault were intended and not a case of the "twisties"?

by Anonymousreply 303July 30, 2021 2:33 AM

Plus, "premeditated" would make all of Simone's self-aggrandizement with her GOAT bedazzled accoutrement NOT a matter of hubris, as I've argued, but rather a cold currency calculation.

Will Biles still perform in the Olympians' "Gold Over America Tour" (GOAT), I wonder. The tour is promoting her as THE attraction.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 304July 30, 2021 2:47 AM

R304... isn't that tour HER tour? She's a co-owner in the tour, I believe.

by Anonymousreply 305July 30, 2021 2:50 AM

I guess she will; it seems Simone is a driving force for the tour!

by Anonymousreply 306July 30, 2021 2:54 AM

Can we just take a moment and really think about what today really means? Today is an amazing day of celebration as I, and I alone, remain the Most Highly Decorated US Olympic Gymnast in History! Tonight could have gone so differently wherein I might have had to share the title. So let's celebrate!!!

God is Good! God answers prayer! And I'm the GOAT!

Please keep praying through to next week while I go sharpen my pins.

Love you all!

by Anonymousreply 307July 30, 2021 3:12 AM

Thanks you bitches for making this thread hysterical.

But I wonder why I've not been mentioned much?

Does my gold not count as much as others?

by Anonymousreply 308July 30, 2021 5:10 AM

R308, who are you?

by Anonymousreply 309July 30, 2021 5:23 AM

Any word on whether Simone is competing in Event Finals?

by Anonymousreply 310July 30, 2021 7:45 AM

I really want her too, R310. It'd be great drama.

by Anonymousreply 311July 30, 2021 8:17 AM

R311, me too.

by Anonymousreply 312July 30, 2021 11:56 AM

Watching the Olympics Gymnastics Individual Event Finals will be interesting.

Supposedly one can watch them LIVE and FREE on the Peacock Channel, starting at 4:00 a.m. (ET) Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (August 1, 2, 3).

We'll see. I'm willing to bet that they will be shown on $$ Peacock Premium only, same as with Olympics Basketball.

I wish I wouldn't learn results as "breaking news" before an event is shown tape-delayed in prime-time.

Can you imagine if Green Bay packers go to Super Bowl and Aaron Rodgers pulls out citing mental health reasons?!

by Anonymousreply 314July 30, 2021 3:10 PM

r314

the difference is Aaron Rodgers isn't tempting death with multiples twisting and flipping... seriously I don't understand why people are grasping this

by Anonymousreply 315July 30, 2021 3:49 PM

AREN'T grasping this

by Anonymousreply 316July 30, 2021 4:08 PM

Sunisa is statuesque for an Asian gymnast.

by Anonymousreply 317July 30, 2021 4:15 PM

R316, quarterbacks face the sack which is dangerous too

by Anonymousreply 318July 30, 2021 5:17 PM

r318

if you can't see the difference between a quarterback and this... I really can't help you

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 319July 30, 2021 5:29 PM

I see the difference, R 319.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 320July 30, 2021 6:17 PM

A quarterback would probably at least be able to finish one floor routine and stay in bounds!

by Anonymousreply 321July 30, 2021 6:50 PM
I really want her too, [R310]. It'd be great drama.

I really hope she doesn't! She should just hang it up and go out with some dignity. There's no shame in being Second GOAT!

by Anonymousreply 322July 30, 2021 6:51 PM

She'll be forever remembered as 'The Quitter with the Twisties'

by Anonymousreply 323July 30, 2021 6:53 PM

Mykala Sknner was ready and set to head back to the US but now is in limbo waiting to see if Simone pulls out of th Event Finals.

Hasn't Simone already put her teammates through enough mental torture? She needs to prove she's not selfish by just making the decision to back out of the remaining events now!

by Anonymousreply 324July 30, 2021 7:57 PM

I have a feeling Simone is going to go off the rails after she gets home. I keep getting Tonya Harding vibes from her.

by Anonymousreply 325July 31, 2021 1:32 AM

well she's out of vault and uneven bars finals :(

by Anonymousreply 326July 31, 2021 1:38 AM

That's WONDERFUL news, R325. Source???

by Anonymousreply 327July 31, 2021 1:40 AM

If the news isn't confirmed, more than likely Simone willc ompete and they'll let her compete every event with a tumbling harness. They've already spent years bending over backwards for her and letting her get away with stealing medals left and right with those banned subtsances and all.

by Anonymousreply 328July 31, 2021 1:44 AM

^^ here you go

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 329July 31, 2021 1:45 AM

Now she won't get that vault named after her.

She wasn't going to medal on bars anyway though so she's probably just preserving her record.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 330July 31, 2021 1:47 AM

she should just go a a little world cup to get the vault named for her... I do wonder if she will continue to worlds now to end her career on a much better note

by Anonymousreply 331July 31, 2021 1:48 AM

The Russians are too damn cheap to offer Biles anywhere near enought money to make it worth her while to throw the Olympics.

by Anonymousreply 332July 31, 2021 1:49 AM

Not saying she did it on purpose but...

if Simone pulls out of the remaining competition she can claim to have been undefeated since whenever.

by Anonymousreply 333July 31, 2021 1:49 AM

If she doesn't pull out of the rest of the competition... we just need to pray that Quals hold and the only medal she gets is on floor. That will at least keep ME as TIED for Most Decorated... but I'm gonna sharpen my needles just in case.

by Anonymousreply 334July 31, 2021 1:50 AM

Is she out of olympics entirely?

by Anonymousreply 335July 31, 2021 2:24 AM

Doesn't she do flippy things on the balance beam and the floor exercise? Aren't 'twisties' a threat on those apparatus as well? And please with the not as far to fall crap; she could just as well break her neck on either if she has the 'twisties'. This whole charade is straight up suspicious to me.

by Anonymousreply 336July 31, 2021 3:04 AM

R335 she's still currently not made a decisio for beam and floor finals. She most likely wouldn't medal on beam.

by Anonymousreply 337July 31, 2021 3:22 AM

Meanwhile, the top story from the Olympics is that she has withdrawn from two events. All the media has made it the top story. Get the fuck out .

by Anonymousreply 338July 31, 2021 3:54 AM

Sounds like a great Media plan, R338!

by Anonymousreply 339July 31, 2021 3:56 AM

r319 He just tempts death with each snap of the ball and a good tackle is when he isn't concussed, doesn't break a collarbone or injure a leg or get paralyzed like several players have in the past. You are seriously the most obnoxious person on this site. Gymnastics is very dangerous. It's not the only dangerous sport.

Here's just one example of a guy having is career ended with one tackle, even though I know Simone the Goat faces more danger than any other athlete who has ever existed so I'm sure this doesn't count.

by Anonymousreply 341August 1, 2021 3:38 AM

SImone has officially pulled out of the Floor final! She's undecided about Beam.

Proof again that God loves me.

Now at the very worst, I will share the title of Most Decorated US Olympic Gymnast!

by Anonymousreply 342August 1, 2021 3:41 AM

On the beam, she does a twisting/flipping dismount. Maybe she'll change that if she can take out the twist parts, though her difficulty will be much lower.

by Anonymousreply 343August 1, 2021 3:54 AM

Shes' not likely to medal on Beam anyway, so she really should just hang it up and not be selfish and let one of the Reserves have peace of mind and a proper preparation.

by Anonymousreply 344August 1, 2021 3:57 AM

I assume she already knows she won’t do the beam, why is she dragging this out? Yes, let the alternates have some time to prepare.

by Anonymousreply 345August 1, 2021 4:07 AM

Definitely not GOAT behavior.

by Anonymousreply 346August 1, 2021 4:10 AM

Simone has pulled out of floor finals as well.

by Anonymousreply 347August 1, 2021 4:13 AM
I assume she already knows she won’t do the beam, why is she dragging this out? Yes, let the alternates have some time to prepare.
