WELP! T-TWO MINUTES!

Jeff Bezos and the Space Twink are taking off into space!

Good luck!

by Anonymousreply 129July 24, 2021 9:00 PM

All systems go!

Bridge retracted.

by Anonymousreply 1July 20, 2021 1:10 PM

One minute.

by Anonymousreply 2July 20, 2021 1:11 PM

The giant penis is about to take off!!!

by Anonymousreply 3July 20, 2021 1:11 PM

Lift off!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 4July 20, 2021 1:12 PM

Wow, this is pretty incredible.

by Anonymousreply 5July 20, 2021 1:12 PM

You didn't need to create a duplicate thread you attention whore.

by Anonymousreply 6July 20, 2021 1:13 PM

I didn't see the other thread.

I just logged on.

by Anonymousreply 7July 20, 2021 1:14 PM

Why is the dick bouncing up and down?

by Anonymousreply 8July 20, 2021 1:14 PM

Looks beautiful. I hope it goes well.

by Anonymousreply 9July 20, 2021 1:16 PM

Wow, I just saw that giant spacecock for the first time. WTF?!

by Anonymousreply 10July 20, 2021 1:17 PM

It surely is a short flight. One minute left.

by Anonymousreply 11July 20, 2021 1:18 PM

Oh. My. God.

That was a beautiful landing!!!

The booser hit the landing mark perfectly!

by Anonymousreply 12July 20, 2021 1:20 PM

That space twink is the luckiest kid in the world.

by Anonymousreply 13July 20, 2021 1:20 PM

R12 Amazing!

by Anonymousreply 14July 20, 2021 1:20 PM

That was a perfect flight.

Absolutely perfect.

Congratulations, Jeff Bezos. That was simply amazing!!!

by Anonymousreply 15July 20, 2021 1:22 PM

Who gets his stuff when heโ€™s incinerated?

by Anonymousreply 16July 20, 2021 1:23 PM

Wow! Wonderful.

by Anonymousreply 17July 20, 2021 1:23 PM

American ingenuity is back.

We truly are NUMBER ONE!!

by Anonymousreply 18July 20, 2021 1:23 PM

Congratulations billionaire scum for doing a billionaire scum kind of thing with your billions, this is truly the American Way.

by Anonymousreply 19July 20, 2021 1:24 PM

I feel so emotional.

This was truly an amazing feat.

And all these people are astronauts! Including the twink.

He's the youngest human to ever go into space. Astronaut Oliver!

by Anonymousreply 20July 20, 2021 1:25 PM

NASA couldn't do this in their wildest dreams.

Private enterprise really is the future of space travel.

by Anonymousreply 21July 20, 2021 1:26 PM

R21 What has NASA kept doing lately?

by Anonymousreply 22July 20, 2021 1:27 PM

Absolutely nothing, R22.

They should be shut down.

Start funding Bezos' space program.

by Anonymousreply 23July 20, 2021 1:29 PM

Okay, enough with this "Bezos has made America number one, close down NASA and give all our money to Amazon instead" crap.

by Anonymousreply 24July 20, 2021 1:31 PM

NASA couldn't dream of conducting a space flight that was more flawless than this one.

From start to finish, everything was right on the money.

It happened so quickly, and without all the blah blah blah bullshit that surround NASA space flights.

It was almost like a commercial trip, and I can totally see private passengers wanting to do this.

by Anonymousreply 25July 20, 2021 1:32 PM

Space twink has a nice ass. Sorry, itโ€™s DL - I had to go there.

by Anonymousreply 26July 20, 2021 1:32 PM

[quote]NASA couldn't dream of conducting a space flight that was more flawless than this one.

NASA actually does things on their space flights. I would imagine if all they did was put some rich guy in space for 4 minutes and then bring him back down, it would be "flawless," too.

by Anonymousreply 27July 20, 2021 1:34 PM

I love Astrotwink!!

by Anonymousreply 28July 20, 2021 1:34 PM

In honor of today's flight.

Just because it was in Texas and the astronauts are surrounded by cowboy hats!

Ambiguously Gay Space Probe Is Balls-Out Sucksess!

by Anonymousreply 30July 20, 2021 1:36 PM

Astronaut Oliver really does have a nice, big fat Dutch ass.

He looks like a "big boy."

by Anonymousreply 31July 20, 2021 1:36 PM

R26 It is main thing here, always.

by Anonymousreply 32July 20, 2021 1:36 PM

That video footage of the huge Rocket Cock bouncing up and down, is going to be the stuff of memes... forever and ever.

by Anonymousreply 33July 20, 2021 1:36 PM

Did Space Twink have the urge to rub one out while he was up there?

by Anonymousreply 34July 20, 2021 1:37 PM

Can you imagine going up into space with your brother, taking off just a few miles from where you grew up, and then landing there also?

It really is the stuff dreams are made of.

by Anonymousreply 35July 20, 2021 1:38 PM

That was fun to watch! ๐Ÿš€

by Anonymousreply 36July 20, 2021 1:38 PM

BTW on CBSโ€™ coverage, Norah keeps making bitch-face every time Gail speaks. Itโ€™s uncomfortable.

by Anonymousreply 37July 20, 2021 1:40 PM

NASA has the Juno spacecraft at Jupiter. The pictures are amazing. NASA is more advance than this. WAY MORE ADVANCED.

by Anonymousreply 38July 20, 2021 1:40 PM

What's so amazing about this to me, is that it all happened in the span of about a half-hour.

There are so many cool things about it.

The easy take off. The space flight. The perfect return of the rocket booster. And the soft landing.

And then the astronaut retrieval by guys in pick-up trucks.

It was almost surreal.

by Anonymousreply 39July 20, 2021 1:40 PM

Is Jeff Bezos posting on this thread?

by Anonymousreply 40July 20, 2021 1:40 PM

R40 No hun. Some of us actually find this stuff interesting.

by Anonymousreply 41July 20, 2021 1:41 PM

Stephanie Ruhle is going to interview Bezos for MSNBC.

by Anonymousreply 42July 20, 2021 1:42 PM

Is that twink really gay?

by Anonymousreply 43July 20, 2021 1:43 PM

After a year of Covid, Trump, and constant bad news, this is a bright light in my life.

I'm a space nerd, so this story is life to me.

I am just .. over joyed.

by Anonymousreply 44July 20, 2021 1:43 PM

by Anonymousreply 46July 20, 2021 1:45 PM

Another nice side story is how he took up that woman who NASA did NOT allow to fly into space in 1960 because she is a woman.

How gratifying it must be for her, to be able to do this flight in 2021.

by Anonymousreply 47July 20, 2021 1:45 PM

No love for the Astro-Geezer who was also aboard?

by Anonymousreply 48July 20, 2021 1:46 PM

Stephanie Ruhle just said it:

AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM.

by Anonymousreply 49July 20, 2021 1:46 PM

Wake me up when these fools land on the moon. This is just a glorified plane ride on a short haul regional jet.

by Anonymousreply 50July 20, 2021 1:49 PM

For the first time in over two decades, I'm imagining human kind going forward, rather than backwards.

It's pretty emotional.

by Anonymousreply 51July 20, 2021 1:50 PM

Comparing the Branson flight to the Bezos flight, Branson's craft seems less dangerous.

His is more of a glider, whereas with the Bezos rocket, you're dealing with a much more explosive craft.

What do you all think?

by Anonymousreply 52July 20, 2021 1:51 PM

The crew is going to do an interview in a little while.

I want to hear the Space Twink talk!

by Anonymousreply 53July 20, 2021 1:53 PM

having watched the moon landing live I thought this was ridiculous. The families were waiting to greet them when they landed. They were gone for 10 MINUTES. I don't understand nay of this

by Anonymousreply 54July 20, 2021 1:54 PM

We didnโ€™t go to the moon.

60 years later we canโ€™t reproduce any of the technology, never go beyond low-earth orbit and perish on re-entry most of the time. Time to admit it was a big Russkie-baiting fake.

by Anonymousreply 55July 20, 2021 1:56 PM

NASA has a spacecraft at Jupiter, right now.

by Anonymousreply 56July 20, 2021 1:57 PM

But thereโ€™s no one on board.

by Anonymousreply 57July 20, 2021 2:00 PM

R45 Wow thanks for posting this. Iโ€™m a space nerd myself and that footage was absolutely amazing. I can only imagine how Jeff must have felt taking a ride up there. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ

by Anonymousreply 58July 20, 2021 2:03 PM

You guys don't understand what this was.

It's ADVERTISING!

Advertising for space tourism.

The entire conversation on cable news right now is about space tourism and government contracts.

They're not really doing this for "us." They're doing it for them.

It wasn't only a fun vanity trip for Bezos. He was basically saying, "Look here. It's safe and reliable. And I'm putting my life on the line to prove it."

You think Bezos' Amazon got to where it is, with some stupid lump at the helm? NO. He's a master at promotion.

This flight was the best advertising that money could buy.

When NASA sees how flawless this flight was, they're going to invest in his company and award him contracts.

Elon Musk has edge on Bezos, because he has been doing it for longer.

But today Bezos has made a huge statement about how he is in the ring.

Musk. Branson. And now Bezos.

These guys are money makers who are thinking beyond Earth.

They are literally pioneers in taking big business OFF this planet.

In 50-100 years, these guys will be in history books as being pioneers in space travel.

by Anonymousreply 59July 20, 2021 2:04 PM

Why is everyone excited? The government had a successful space program and this no-tax paying sociopathic centi-billionaire who creates a hellish experience for his employees - WHY DOES ANYONE GIVE TWO FUCKS?

This is OBSCENE.

Fuck Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk and Branson. And yes - it looks like Dr. Evil's rocketship from Austin Powers. Very fitting.

by Anonymousreply 62July 20, 2021 2:09 PM

Debbie Downer Scott Galloway on MSNBC basically just said what you said, R60.

He was whining about rich people blah blah blah.

I don't care. I love space travel, and anyone who is willing to make it more accessible to the private citizen, is fine by me. I want to go to space, too.

MSNBC is debating the "democratization of space" right now. Hallie said it's only for the rich. Others are saying that it's being made more accessible for everyone.

Whatever the case, more people will be able to travel to space than just male members of the military.

by Anonymousreply 63July 20, 2021 2:11 PM

R55 We left laser reflectors on the moon. You can aim a laser at them and they will reflect back. That is proof that we went to the moon.

R63 - if you believe you're going to do space travel at any point in your lifetime, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

Particularly if you're going up for just 4 minutes total. This is an amusement park ride, it's not space travel.

Take your Star Trek fantasies somewhere else and try to find joy and happiness on Earth. Your problems are going to follow you to space.

by Anonymousreply 67July 20, 2021 2:25 PM

R59, I don't think the American oligarchs need your tongue baths.

by Anonymousreply 68July 20, 2021 2:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 70July 20, 2021 2:29 PM

I don't know how so many of you can be so negative and cynical about such a fantastic achievement for mankind.

But then again, this is Datalounge.

You cunts will ALWAYS find something to complain about.

by Anonymousreply 71July 20, 2021 2:33 PM

Humans have already done this, since the 1960s. This was basic. SEE NASA.

by Anonymousreply 72July 20, 2021 2:37 PM

R71 - there's nothing really groundbreaking about this. So some rich asshole went up beyond the space line and back. Big fucking deal. NASA did this WITHOUT COMPUTERS.

Yeah - they tried to push some bullshit 'science experiments' on to the flight which ended up being just that - BULLSHIT. Four minutes isn't long enough to study anything. It was all PR.

Unfortunately R71 you fell for it - along with all the other bullshit they're trying to sell you about this. You're not going to space anytime soon. This is an advancement for billionaires only. Nobody needs this and it's disgusting to applaud it.

by Anonymousreply 73July 20, 2021 2:39 PM

R67 and R73, at what age did you stop dreaming?

At what age did all your hopes and dreams die?

With your attitude, do you even have anything to look forward to any more?

I feel sad for you.

by Anonymousreply 74July 20, 2021 2:42 PM

Juno, Schmuno.

NASA's space trips aren't actually benefitting any real, live humans.

Only metal ships and computers. Big deal.

R74 - and I see your threads about Jeffree Star and Tiktok. The feeling is mutual. You're all over this thread rubbing your nipples about this and getting excited over nothing.

There's dreaming and then there is living in a fantasy world where you think this is somehow going to be affordable and available to most people. It is not. And there is no scientific research to be done on these space roller coasters.

The media is having a field day over this and it's weird.

by Anonymousreply 94July 20, 2021 4:00 PM

R45, actually Blue Origin did a powered booster landing before SpaceX, however, they've never really advanced much beyond it. Whereas SpaceX has leapfrogged ahead and is doing full orbital launches almost daily, plus doing active development of a huge new system, whereas Blue Origin is basically just doing the same sub-orbital hops over and over.

by Anonymousreply 95July 20, 2021 5:22 PM

R99 oh i am pretty sure that twink was shot up into.. but I have questions. Was it only by Jeff or was it Mark too? And how much more did his daddy pay to watch via live stream? And what did they do with the old broad while this was going on? Was she sedated or paid to keep her mouth shut?

by Anonymousreply 100July 20, 2021 8:52 PM

Rofl R100/

Thought provoking questions, indeed!

I'm guessing the "old broad" was fast asleep, while all this was happening in the COCK PIT.

The Bezos brothers were double teaming Oliver, and they turned the sound off.

The only privacy they could ever have, is up in space!

by Anonymousreply 101July 20, 2021 8:54 PM

R101 Sounds plausible. I wonder how many other wealthy men Oliver's troll of a father whored his son out to. Or maybe this was the first time?

R104 If she is then I'm pretty sure she intends to take that to her grave.

by Anonymousreply 105July 20, 2021 10:43 PM

This is fantastic. The US will have multiple companies competing for space in the not so long future. There will be hiccups of course, but the US is heading into a mini golden age of progress and invention.

by Anonymousreply 106July 20, 2021 10:56 PM

I wonder if Wally got some celebratory pussy tonight!

by Anonymousreply 107July 20, 2021 11:25 PM

Wally Funk.

What an unfortunate name for a lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 108July 20, 2021 11:26 PM

R106 - a golden age of progress and innovation? When we have hundreds of thousands of homeless, outrageous health care costs, people saddled with debt, unaffordable housing, a diminishing birth rate because people can't afford to have kids, etc.

Having insanely wealthy people get their jollies on a space amusement ride is not the progress most Americans need or want.

by Anonymousreply 109July 21, 2021 2:02 AM

[quote] Having insanely wealthy people get their jollies on a space amusement ride is not the progress most Americans need or want.

You are confusing the role of GOVERNMENT, with the role of a private citizen.

They might be rich, but they can still do whatever they want with their money. Just like you can.

It is GOVERNMENT that must fix the problems you listed at R109.

by Anonymousreply 110July 21, 2021 2:11 AM

R110 You are correct that the Gov't is supposed to do those things, but you must have missed Bezos' press conference today. I think R109 is talking about the way Bezos was trying to tout this as something great for America. This did nothing for our country. It was a joy ride by an uber wealthy person. He needs to quit lying and call it what it was.

by Anonymousreply 111July 21, 2021 3:17 AM

What you're missing, R111 was written right on the capsule - First Step. These vanity flights really are first steps into the future of routine space flight. Right now, getting to space is crazy expensive, to date only large governments could afford it. But private industry now is becoming a prime driver of advancement. This is a very good thing for humanity, even if in the short term it's got some ego-boo for billionaires.

by Anonymousreply 112July 21, 2021 12:43 PM

How is "getting to space" supposed to promote progress or advancement? The space program has already driven advances in science for more than a half-centuryโ€”no "first step" is required nowโ€”but that was under public programs funded by public money starting when billionaires were taxed (and heavily at the higher margins). What benefit are these vanity flights supposed to lead to, except some deluded fantasy of everyone eventually leaving an earth we've wrecked by neglecting important matters?

by Anonymousreply 113July 21, 2021 12:52 PM

R113, I'd make the effort to answer you if were honestly wanting to know instead of just arguing. But perhaps you can read up on what Blue Origin and SpaceX and the dozens of other less well-known space companies have planned.

by Anonymousreply 114July 21, 2021 1:00 PM

Breaking News: We already have been to space. Nasa has a spacecraft at Jupiter RIGHT NOW. What Bezos and the other prick billionaire are just selling an expensive ride.

by Anonymousreply 115July 21, 2021 1:03 PM

R112 Wow! You really are naive!

First of all, as several others have stated, countries have been making first, second, third, fourth, fifth and beyond steps into space since the 1960s. Bezos is lying by saying this is a first step. Please learn some history.

Second, despite Bezos' billions, he cannot fly into space on a regular basis more cheaply and efficiently than the Federal Government which has decades of experience in doing this. He knows this. That is another Bezos lie.

Third, there is no way these billionaires can do this "on their own." Coordination with several government agencies is required in order to do something like this. So we taxpayers are paying for this in some capacity.

Fourth, how pure could Bezos' motives be to "help" others if he's literally "selling" seats on his spacecraft?

Fifth, look who he's taking. What's the purpose of taking an old ass retired astronaut, an 18 year old and your brother, none of whom can do anything to "help" anyone by riding in that shuttle? Why is he not taking current astronauts?

Sixth, what were the stated goals to be accomplished "for others" in 11 minutes? Billions were spent but were there any stated goals? Were the goals accomplished? I never heard any goals.

Finally, fuckers like Bezos pay lots of money to lobby republicans in Congress so they can pay zero dollars in taxes he OWES America. Does that really sound like someone looking to do something for his country?

by Anonymousreply 116July 21, 2021 2:38 PM

[quote] How is "getting to space" supposed to promote progress or advancement? The space program has already driven advances in science for more than a half-centuryโ€”no "first step" is required now

I don't know. Why did the Wright Brothers decide to fly some crazy looking craft at Kitty Hawk?

Some of you are so short-sighted.

This is just the beginning.

It can lead to commercial flights to space, hotels in space, human colonization and exploration of other planets, etc.

I'm sure there were plenty of POO-POO'ers like so many of you on this thread, when the phone was invented, or the car, or the television. Why? WHY??? WHYYYYYYYYYY do we need these fancy new fangled gadgets????

You old grumps can stay stuck in the past. Enjoy getting bogged down with Covid and Trump.

The rest of us want to move on with life, explore and make progress.

There are two mindsets at work here, and I want to be on Jeff Bezos' team.

by Anonymousreply 117July 21, 2021 2:55 PM

[quote]Second, despite Bezos' billions, he cannot fly into space on a regular basis more cheaply and efficiently than the Federal Government which has decades of experience in doing this. He knows this. That is another Bezos lie.

It remains to be seen if Blue Origin can, but SpaceX already is doing it cheaper than NASA and on a regular basis. The US couldn't launch anyone into space for 9 years until SpaceX did it. NASA's own rocket (SLS) is coming up and it's cobbled together from old Shuttle parts and is horrifically expensive. In fact, some Artemis payloads it was supposed to launch have already been moved to SpaceX's Falcon Heavy because of costs. It's even possible the SLS program will be scuttled because other contractors can do it better and cheaper.

by Anonymousreply 118July 21, 2021 4:17 PM

it is just a ride to space. They are just selling an expensive ride. Just slap a luxury tax on it, and get the DL Voodoo guy for you know.

by Anonymousreply 119July 22, 2021 8:10 AM

R118 Doesn't SpaceX do it's launches from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station? That is a facility of the United States Federal Government. When Elon Musk builds all that shit from scratch and launches spacecraft totally on his own dime then we can have a more appropriate apples to apples cost comparison.

R120, SpaceX leases the pad space at Kennedy Space Center, and has built it's own infrastructure, launch tower, control rooms, etc. Also, it's in the process of building out its own new launch facility in Boca Chica Texas on its own dime. NASA isn't subsidizing them, other than paying for payloads they want (like flights to the ISS). By any measure, they're doing it cheaper and more efficiently than NASA itself (or any other launch company at the moment).

To further address your point, other launch providers like ULA have the same or even sweeter arrangements with NASA, yet SpaceX is cleaning their clocks on cost as well.

R25 NASA put men on the moon using computer power less than a BlackBerry.

If I had Jeff Bezosโ€™ cash I would buy out the entire Amazon, surround it with armed guards and tell everyone to back the fuck off. THAT would help the entire world.

I told Draper that repeatedly and he wouldn't listen.

Lol. There's a place called "Woman's Mouth, Texas?"

How vulgar.

More for R120. NASA just saved over 2 BILLION dollars by moving the upcoming Europa Clipper Jupiter mission from their own SLS rocket to SpaceX's Falcon Heavy booster.

To help explain why NASA can't build or depend on its own rockets now.

NASA chief Charles Bolden:

[quote] "When I became the NASA administrator, (President Obama) charged me with three things," Bolden said in the interview which aired last week. "One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and ๐’•๐’‰๐’Š๐’“๐’…, ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐’‘๐’†๐’“๐’‰๐’‚๐’‘๐’” ๐’‡๐’๐’“๐’†๐’Ž๐’๐’”๐’•, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math and engineering."

Not a word about pushing forward in advanced design and space operations.

Meanwhile private industry kept its eye on the actual objective.
