You can see the Rinna quality parenting last year when her daughter wanted her own apartment. She and Lisa met with Kyle's daughter who is a real estate agent. She lists off a pile of demands of what she wants in her first apartment, including a doorman, marble kitchen, view, how many square feet. Kyle's daughter asks her budget and she says 5K a month, turns to her mother and RInna says "well we are only pitching in 2 or 3 thousand..." You would have thought that little girl was Leona Helmsley.

Looking forward to the new season, especially to see my favorite (rinna), but not so hot on Kathy Hilton. Crystal looks feisty!

The new additions got worse each year from seasons 6 to 8. First came Erika (and one and done Kathryn, who I actually really liked,) then Dorit, and then Teddi, and they all dragged the show down (with the help of Kyle and Rinna too.)

(This still exists in all Vegas Strip properties; it's when your credit isn't good.) All that to say, apparently Pee-Kay had gambled enough to get free drinks for him, Dorit, and their little entourage, but the $5 tip he left wouldn't authorize on his AmEx. (I could hear Dorit screeching in the background for the duration of the call.)

This was at the Wynn...the irony that they couldn't charge a $5 tip, much less leave cash. Like a month later I found out about his massive gambling debts at the Bellagio (public info). It really pisses me off that Kim's fame was the main reason that Kyle and Kathy are on the show at all, and then they threw her away when they didn't need her anymore. I was born in 1978 and I grew up watching a lot of movies and TV shows from the '70s. Escape to Witch Mountain came out in 1975 and I never heard the title until the Housewives came along, and they talk about it like it was as big as Mary Poppins or Jurassic Park. How in the world did I never hear of it if it is so popular? And how is Kim supposed to be one of the most famous child stars with only the one movie? I get a Mandela effect-type feeling when this movie and Kim's fame are discussed. It's like I spent my life in an alternate reality or something.

I understand Kyle's 'fame' a lot better. I saw Halloween when I was young. I have no memory of Kyle in it, just as I have no memory of anyone who screamed in any horror movie ever, except Mia Farrow and Heather Langenkamp. So Kyle being an alleged scream queen—OK, fine, whatever. I don't care. But I do feel weird about having had no awareness of a supposedly beloved childhood classic that was released years before I was born.

I remember Kim mostly from tv shows, not movies. Some Professor show and others. Never knew who Kyle was at all and couldn't say what she was ever on. Kim was the star.

Kim's IMDB page shows that she had a lot of one-off guest spot appearances on lots of TV show plus three episodes of Diff'rent Strokes.

And you see Kyle just kind of hanging around in the background like a hanger on. She was constantly seen in the background in a lot of photos and old red carpet footage from the early 00s with Paris Nicky and Nichole, you would've thought she didn't have a husband and young children at home to see about.

I was a child of the 80's and was obsessed with Escape to Witch Mountain. I loved Kim Richards from that movies and was so excited to see her as an adult. From certain angles, Kathy Hilton looks a lot like Caitlyn Jenner. It's a little disturbing.

Are we supposed to believe Kathy is as demented/absentminded as she is shown to be? If so, then it seems like Kyle is the only Richards sister with full mental facilities.

So far, we've seen little of Kathy and that little we've seen includes carrying around a giant fan like it's a baby blanket, putting ear drops in her eyes, accidentally drinking Red Bull at 1 am after wandering into her sister's bed to eat midnight dinner, a proclivity for inspecting her friends' teeth with dental instruments. Is this a "wacky" character? If not, then Kim appears to be the second most sane sister. "I love turtles!" and "I BROUGHT YOU THE BUNNY!! I'M GIVINNG IT BACK!!" don't seem so bad compared with "let me go get my fan and a Red Bull and then I'll replace your fillings with my bedazzled dental pick."

I'm curious if the producers had to convince Kyle to let them bring Kathy (who is clearly not right) on. She becomes visibly awkward around her.

Kyle seemed willing to participate in the destruction of her sister Kim while she was on the show, and so it wouldn't surprise me if Kyle talked Kathy into being on the show knowing she'd look like a doddering old fool as revenge for their fighting over Kyle's narcissistic vanity sitcom.

Crystal is a major bee-yotch. She's a nice addition to the show. I do like that they've injected a touch of politics along with the racial talk. I do not like that they're shading Sutton as a nutty racist. I grew up in a multi-cultural community myself and one thing you learn early on is that beyond racial and cultural differences, humans are basically pretty much the same. If you're in a social group with a variety of ethnicities the last thing you want to do is suggest to someone they're bigoted. It's a stigma that's hard to shed, even when it's not true. People do need to own their bigotry though, in order to overcome it.

In my experience, all races are capable of racism, it's a unfortunate human habit that many have, but not all. It is not the exclusive domain of white people but many of us whities have certainly made a bad habit of it. It's painful to be painted with that brush when you try to live your life as a fair, inclusive, and caring person. It's also more fun to embrace diversity than harbor grievance and intolerance.

My hope is as the season progresses they'll speak less of racial matters and more about the things they have in common, exhibiting behavior we all can relate to based on their humanity and not stereotypes. Crystal and Sutton's conversation about their fathers' deaths, for example, showed the feelings they have in common. I liked that scene,

R574, I agree. I watched part of the "behind the scenes" episode where there were additional scenes and some of what Crystal said had been cut and added back. The expanded version made a lot more sense. Sutton wants to shut things down rather than dealing with sensitive issues like a rational adult.

Sutton is so insecure, and both tries to be liked by being generous and buying expensive gifts and also "own her truth" with her sly sense of humour which is fun, and also with these outbursts which is a disaster.

She sat there at dinner shaking with tears instead of doing what a normal person would and nudge her neighbour and say "hey what's going on?". After the ride back from dinner she was in such a state, even stirrers Erika, Rinna and Dorit weren't going to bother. She is clearly very delicate post divorce. I liked how Kyle shut her the fuck up over that.

I had trouble following the martini drinking prank, but I have no idea why Sutton got so upset over it. That woman's a mess.

Sutton is self-conscious about her Jawja accent and she always feels like she is on the fringe of the group. She is the new girl who has to find her way into the pecking order. It's like a middle school mean girls group except it's nationally televised and audiences today reliably find the weakest link and eviscerate them, and then they get dumped by their networks and live with their reputations forever.

Sutton set herself up to be called racist (it was a self-fulfilling prophesy) while her character sketch is still being written. She did it to herself but I understand why she is so on edge.

Then, at dinner, all the women were texting one another at the table, laughing, and clearly some secret was being shared. All the women were involved in one part of the joke or the other and so I can understand why Sutton would feel left out and suspect it might have been about her.

But this show is so tiring. It's always the same. When someone like Sutton comes along as the friend, fans want them to be cast full time because they don't like the full-time housewives. Then they get cast and it's the same cycle as all the other housewives: when they're new, they are usually shown to be wacky and fun and well meaning like Kathy is being shown. Then the next season they are the villain or annoying and fans want them gone. Then the next season they are wrongly victimized and fans take their side and want another housewife gone. All of it is a manipulation.

The way the BH and NYC Housewives (I don't watch any of the others anymore.) go from sympathetic to evil to victimized to evil to sympathetic is annoying as hell and it seems like fans never notice they're being yanked this way and that way by producers/writers. Once upon a time, most people loved Erika as a 'breath of fresh air' as they did Brandi. Now she's a real-life villain. Once upon a time, Kim was mean (She hid Brandi's crutches!! Gasp!) and then she was an addict and then she was the sympathetic and wacky innocuous sidekick to Kyle and then she got the boot. And now her sister is sympathetic and wacky and a breath of fresh air as an innocuous sidekick to Kyle.

I wonder if Bethany will make an appearance? She's friends with both kathy and kyle. She did use to babysit and look after Paris and Nicky when they were children.

Kathy is as crazy as she is written to be.

She is "wacky" and Lucy-loopy, complete with ridiculous props and silly habits like examining friends' teeth. It's a way to add interest to the show, to justify her being on the payroll and to distract from having to address anything about her real life. Denise Richards could have been scripted this way and pulled it off, leaving the husband off camera and just being wacky for the sake of being wacky.

It's pretty conspicuous when they've gone out of their way to explain on the show that Paris Hilton : on-camera persona was performed and not real, even her voice being made up, and then her mother is playing an absent-minded sitcom type.
