Slaves, the lot of you. The Illuminati and VIP vaccine is the "Chiron", named after the centaur who taught medicine to the god Asclepius, Apollo's son. It's not ironic that Asclepius's mother was princess Coronis, a mortal princess. The Chiron is produced by Microsoft and Rothschild money in Israeli military laboratories and is said to double lifespan.

I sought out Moderna as it's not as fragile as Pfizer in terms of cold storage and date usage. Got my first shot this week and feel fine - except a sore arm. But it's a fricking long needle - that's expected. Surprised I didn't have a bruise.

And now there may be a slight difference.
Moderna is testing another booster vaccine that can deal with the B.1.351 (South African) variant.
Pfizer/BioNTech is already 100% effective against it in South Africa but they are still testing a booster shot anyway just in case one day they're not.

It's rare.
My friends were in the same situation as the person up above. They heard somewhere was offering it and they had to hustle to get an appointment to be vaccinated by it. Two of them got appointments. The rest of us, getting vaccinated at various locations, have all ended up with Moderna or Pfizer.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | April 3, 2021 12:52 AM |
My partner got J&J earlier this week. I receive the 2 Moderna shots in late Jan. & Feb.
I felt yucky about 24 hours after the 2nd Moderna shot. It lasted a day. My two sisters had more severe reactions. One for 2 days; the other 4 days with chills, weakness, etc.
The sore arm for me was more intense on the 1st shot.
My partner would only take J&J. He had zero side effects.
The hospitals, county heath center, and larger medical facilities are primarily giving the Pfizer vaccine: long lines, hard to schedule appointments, etc. Pfizer requires the stronger refrigeration. That's why the facilities injecting this vaccine are more limited, along with the supply factor.
Get the first available.

R77, I talked about it. It was my preference and it’s not as available in NYC. I got it at the Javits Center and there were separate areas for those getting that brand. ??? I was lucky with timing, and when I saw there were openings for J&J, I signed up and told a bunch of people, who also got appointments for it. It was just luck.
As did my husband, I developed a fever and chills that night and spent the next day feeling like I had the flu. Slept a lot, no appetite, woozy. Then after a good night’s sleep, felt fine the second day. I’m interpreting that as a sign that my body was doing what it was supposed to. Oh, sore arm, too.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | April 3, 2021 1:00 AM |
My cousin ended up in the hospital after having the Moderna shot. In fact, the majority of horror stories I’ve heard first hand were all from people who got that one. No issues with my Pfizer vaccine.

The side effects of the first shot of Moderna was 24 hours of feeling weak, tired and sluggish. The second dose kicked my ass for up to four days...tired, weak, achy muscles, sluggish, generally out of it for several days. I'm still glad I got it, but it kicked my ass. Most people didn't have the severe reaction that I did.

Just my two cents:
Pfizer, because of its effectiveness and three weeks is shorter than four. I got Pfizer three weeks ago and go for my second one Monday, and that was a LONG ass three weeks. I couldn’t imagine waiting four (as silly as that sounds).
by Anonymous | reply 104 | April 3, 2021 4:05 PM |
I think they are all good. I chose Pfizer because it seems to have the least amount of side effects, a lot of data was collected about it when it was launched first in Israel, and it's now been authorized (or in the process of) for children 12-16. Moderna is working on it, but right now it's only approved for 18+. It's not relevant for me, but Moderna seems to cause women more side effects including the "Covid arm" that seems to pop up about 5-8 days after the injection. This is harmless and goes away quickly I've read. I originally want J&J because I thought it would be the most mild in terms of side effects, which with the 1 shot, seemed like a good trade off for *possibly* less protection (the verdict is still out on that with the variant protection). Then I read J&J slams you for a few days after. Bottom line is that it's all an experiment. If there are options out there to choose, I don't think you have to just accept whatever is offered. On the val sites in CA, you can see which place offers what and choose accordingly.
Don't go down the reddit rabbit hole from the vaccinated sub. There is good info, but most people only post reviews when they have had some sort of reaction vs. the millions where everything is fine, like Yelp. I stopped reading a few days before the appt.

Are you in a country that differentiates between the two, r108?
The CDC guidelines are: 30-minute wait for people who have ever had an immediate allergic reaction to any injectable or vaccine, and also those who received J&J because an mRNA vaccine was contraindicated. Everyone else waits 15 minutes.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | April 4, 2021 12:48 AM |

Ok, so we’ll say it again: It’s completely expected that one can get COVID after vaccinations. It’s not 100% effective against you getting it (no vaccine is). It is, however, 100% effective against one getting ill enough to require hospitalization and/or die.
Breakthrough cases are completely expected.

R134, Pfizer is also protective against the new variants. Moderna is still undergoing testing but might not be as protective. They are, however, creating a booster based on the variant and are currently testing it. Basically, it would be added to the vaccine as it is currently made.

Did no one correct R6? They said Ii'm surprised no one else went the deactivated virus" which isn't true, because all the vaccines EXCEPT the Moderna and Pfizer are using the standard vaccine technology, which uses a deactivated virus. And no one wants to use Sinovac because the Chinese (and the Russians with their vaccine) can't be trusted to publish their research and testing to the acceptable standard. They withhold information that makes them look bad. The Russians didn't even do proper testing on theirs.
The shitty vaccines no one wants like Sinovac and the Russian one are the ones that are going to the poor countries.

The second shot of Pfizer is no joke! I felt fine all day, except for being tired, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks about 9 pm. It's the worst I've felt in over 20 years. I still feel achy after 24 hours. I honestly don't know how anyone could get the second shot of Pfizer or Moderna and not experience any side-effects.
I'll switch to the J&J shot if we have to get another vaccine in a year. There's no way that I can go through that again every year.

South African COVID variant can ‘break through’ Pfizer vaccine: study
JERUSALEM – The coronavirus variant discovered in South Africa can “break through” Pfizer/BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine to some extent, a real-world data study in Israel found, though its prevalence in the country is low and the research has not been peer-reviewed.
The study, released on Saturday, compared almost 400 people who had tested positive for COVID-19, 14 days or more after they received one or two doses of the vaccine, against the same number of unvaccinated patients with the disease. It matched age and gender, among other characteristics.
The South African variant, B.1.351, was found to make up about 1% of all the COVID-19 cases across all the people studied, according to the study by Tel Aviv University and Israel’s largest healthcare provider, Clalit.
But among patients who had received two doses of the vaccine, the variant’s prevalence rate was eight times higher than those unvaccinated – 5.4% versus 0.7%.
This suggests the vaccine is less effective against the South African variant, compared with the original coronavirus and a variant first identified in Britain that has come to comprise nearly all COVID-19 cases in Israel, the researchers said.
“We found a disproportionately higher rate of the South African variant among people vaccinated with a second dose, compared to the unvaccinated group. This means that the South African variant is able, to some extent, to break through the vaccine’s protection,” said Tel Aviv University’s Adi Stern.
The researchers cautioned, though, that the study only had a small sample size of people infected with the South African variant because of its rarity in Israel.
They also said the research was not intended to deduce overall vaccine effectiveness against any variant, since it only looked at people who had already tested positive for COVID-19, not at overall infection rates.
Pfizer and BioNTech could not be immediately reached for comment outside business hours.
The companies said on April 1 that their vaccine was around 91% effective at preventing COVID-19, citing updated trial data that included participants inoculated for up to six months.
In respect to the South African variant, they said that among a group of 800 study volunteers in South Africa, where B.1.351 is widespread, there were nine cases of COVID-19, all of which occurred among participants who got the placebo. Of those nine cases, six were among individuals infected with the South African variant.
Some previous studies have indicated that the Pfizer/BioNTech shot was less potent against the B.1.351 variant than against other variants of the coronavirus, but still offered a robust defence.
While the results of the study may cause concern, the low prevalence of the South African strain was encouraging, according to Stern.
“Even if the South African variant does break through the vaccine’s protection, it has not spread widely through the population,” said Stern, adding that the British variant may be “blocking” the spread of the South African strain.
Almost 53% of Israel’s 9.3 million population has received both Pfizer doses. Israel has largely reopened its economy in recent weeks while the pandemic appears to be receding, with infection rates, severe illness and hospitalizations dropping sharply. About a third of Israelis are below the age of 16, which means they are still not eligible for the shot.

Blood clots in Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine recipients under investigation
A European drug regulator is reviewing blood clots among four people in the United States who received Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report.
The European Medicines Agency said three serious cases of clotting and low platelets occurred in the US during the rollout of J&J’s vaccine from its Janssen unit and that one person died from a clotting disorder reported during a clinical trial. The EMA’s report is the first to mention a probe of blood clots associated with the J&J vaccine.
Johnson & Johnson said it was aware of the rare reports of blood clots and was working with regulators.
“At present, no clear causal relationship has been established between these rare events and the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine,” the company said in a statement to Reuters.
The Food and Drug Administration said it was aware of the blood clot issue and also had not found “a causal relationship with vaccination.”
Nearly 5 million people in the United States had received J&J’s vaccine as of Thursday morning, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The issue of blood clots in the brain reported by some in Europe who got the AstraZeneca vaccine is also under probe.

One little discussed difference between Pfizer and Moderna is the amount of vaccine in each shot. Pfizer is 30ml while Moderna is 100 ml, over three times more in each dose. This is why they think that people get more/stronger side effects from Moderna, but it is also thought possible that the larger amount makes it somewhat more effective both against the variants and over longer periods of time. Too soon to know yet however. The vaccines are in fact almost identical in their composition.

China admits that it’s COVID-19 vaccine isn’t very effective: official
BEIJING — In a rare admission of the weakness of Chinese coronavirus vaccines, the country’s top disease control official says their effectiveness is low and the government is considering mixing them to give them a boost.
Chinese vaccines “don’t have very high protection rates,” said the director of the China Centers for Disease Control, Gao Fu, at a conference Saturday in the southwestern city of Chengdu.
Beijing has distributed hundreds of millions of doses in other countries while also trying to promote doubt about the effectiveness of Western vaccines.
“It’s now under formal consideration whether we should use different vaccines from different technical lines for the immunization process,” Gao said.
The effectiveness rate of a coronavirus vaccine from Sinovac, a Chinese developer, at preventing symptomatic infections has been found to be as low as 50.4% by researchers in Brazil. By comparison, the vaccine made by Pfizer has been found to be 97% effective.
Beijing has yet to approve any foreign vaccines for use in China, where the coronavirus emerged in late 2019.
Gao gave no details of possible changes in strategy but mentioned mRNA, a previously experimental technique used by Western vaccine developers while China’s drug makers used traditional technology.
“Everyone should consider the benefits mRNA vaccines can bring for humanity,” Gao said. “We must follow it carefully and not ignore it just because we already have several types of vaccines already.”
Gao previously raised questions about the safety of mRNA vaccines. He was quoted by the official Xinhua News Agency as saying in December he couldn’t rule out negative side effects because they were being used for the first time on healthy people.
Chinese state media and popular health and science blogs also have questioned the safety and effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine, which uses mRNA.
As of April 2, some 34 million people have received both of the two doses required by Chinese vaccines and about 65 million received one, according to Gao.
Experts say mixing vaccines, or sequential immunization might boost effectiveness rates. Trials around the world are looking at mixing of vaccines or giving a booster shot after a longer time period. Researchers in Britain are studying a possible combination of Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.

Once you’re fully vaccinated (~3 weeks after second mRNA dose), you really don’t have to take precautions, unless you’re just neurotic. Mitigation measures past full vaccination are meaningless, statistically speaking. You have maybe a .05% chance of getting a non-serious infection. Not a 5% chance, not a .5% chance, but a .05% chance, maybe less.

And that is good enough. It won't get better, the stats are more likely to be less reassuring over time.
Almost 6,000 Americans who were 2 shot fully vaccinated with the Pfizer contracted COVID in the last 2 months. 74 of them died. There are no absolute guarantees. People's understanding of the efficacy rates are skewed. And the rates themselves are based on the limits of time than the vaccines have been used in real world settings.
The truth is that J&J and AstraZeneca will probably turn out to be just as "effective" as Moderna and Pfizer. Because the real tests are yet to come. Some of the more old fashioned vaccines are likely to provide a system for immunity that the others aren't tested to address. Regardless, you can still get COVID and die even if you had the best vaccine on the right schedule and didn't drink any alcohol or see anyone for 6 weeks after. The risk is small but it's not invisible.
We can't throw masks off in public and shouldn't start travelling the world - but we can finally feel comfortable with other people who have been vaccinated. Maskless, eating and drinking, laughing and/or fucking. Otherwise what is the point?

I thought previous reporting indicated that though there are breakthrough cases, no one who has been vaccinated has died, so I’m surprised to read this. Could the deaths all be from the lower vaccines, and not Pfizer and Moderna?
by Anonymous | reply 214 | April 16, 2021 11:26 AM |
R214, that's because the original studies were on 40,000 people. We're now talking almost 80 million people. Most likely, they had covid and died but may not have died from covid. That's why we'd need to see their ages and comorbidities to determine that. We also have all these nice new variants brought to us by the fucking maskless morons who should be tried for manslaughter and shipped off to live on an island of fellow idiots for the rest of their lives while we all watch then go all Hunger Games on each other on pay-per-view to help defer the costs they've plagued the world with through their irresponsible and irredeemable behavior.

J&J is not good.
by Anonymous | reply 216 | April 16, 2021 11:43 AM |
J&J is fine.
Chance of getting blood clot after J&J = 1 in 1,000,000
Chance of just randomly getting blood clot = 5 in 1,000,000
Chance of getting blood clot on birth control pills = 1 in 3,000
by Anonymous | reply 217 | April 16, 2021 11:46 AM |
Looking at the chart, r218, it’s crazy that anyone would choose J&J.
by Anonymous | reply 219 | April 16, 2021 11:52 AM |
Thank you, r215.
I was about to say the same thing, but less eloquent and informative than you did.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | April 16, 2021 11:52 AM |
Apparently, only 35% of the breakthrough cases were men, so we can feel a little more secure from that.

This.

So can you mix vaccines? And what about the booster shots next fall? Can you switch?
by Anonymous | reply 223 | April 16, 2021 12:37 PM |
R223, yes.
If you got Pfizer this year and wanted Moderna next year that’s not a problem. In the beginning of the vaccination effort, the doctors were saying “get whatever one you can get, when you can get it. You’re not then beholden to that particular company and, if next year we need another booster, we’ll have much more supply then and that’s when you can choose.”

Doubtful on this site. Men? Ancient white gay men with multiple comorbidities are not safe from anything in this world. Except a legacy.

An evening bag shouldn’t be that large. You should be able to get around it.

Pfizer for the elites, Moderna for the middle class, and J&J for the proles. It’s real.
by Anonymous | reply 230 | April 17, 2021 9:45 PM |
And the people who don’t get vaxxed?
by Anonymous | reply 231 | April 17, 2021 9:53 PM |
I don’t believe that, r30.
My entire family got Pfizer. Why? Because that’s what they had when we got our appointments.
I New York they recently started listing what vaccine is at specific locations. Every state site has Pfizer as do most of the pharmacies. I have not seen Moderna in New York or on their website.
J&J was given at one site in the state and only at night (the Javits Center).
by Anonymous | reply 232 | April 17, 2021 10:11 PM |
I took all of them. The end can’t come soon enough. When you live in MAGA country you have that option! 😛

Pfizer has a much higher availabilty at the moment so not so elite.
And, I wish people would stop even joking about this because, with my luck, all the joking will lead to the universe making sure that in six months my Pfizer vax will make me grow a tail...out of my forehead!

That’s what’s great about it. Discerning people who choose to be in the Pfizer elite aren’t restricted by scarcity.

I received the Moderna shots. That was the first available to me by appointment. My partner received the J&J a month after my 2nd shot.
Pfizer was the first distributed and has the more intense refrigeration requirement. Most people seem to go for what's available when making appointments.
A relative and a veteran, received the Moderna through the V.A. hospital, a federal government facility.

I am grateful that I was able to get the vaccine. Think about those poor people in the 3rd world countries where they don't even have jabs for their citizens...do you guys even check up on the news around the world? The covid cases are going up all over the world.
Get your vaccine and wear a mask! those variants are more contagious! stay safe.

I have American friends (who are a couple) who are temporarily living in London for work for a year (arrived mid-March) . The wife of the couple just flew back yesterday to L.A. to get the vaccine. However, the husband can't and is still too young to get it for a while. And he's not happy with the choices that the U.K. is offering.
by Anonymous | reply 251 | April 21, 2021 2:55 AM |
R251, is the husband under 15 because everyone in America who is over 16 is now eligible for a vaccine.
by Anonymous | reply 252 | April 21, 2021 4:20 AM |
R252, the UK is still vaccinating according to age groups. The husband has to stay in the UK and is probably in his 30s, which means he will have to have the AstraZeneca.
by Anonymous | reply 253 | April 21, 2021 6:41 AM |

Your friends sound like douches, R251/R253.
by Anonymous | reply 258 | April 21, 2021 8:13 AM |
They're not my friends r258 and I'm not r251, but in the UK now everyone over the age of30 has to have the AstraZeneca because of the brain clot rare side effect. The few Pfizer and even fewer Moderna doses will have to be reserved for the under-30s and pregnant women and - hopefully - second doses. We're hardly getting any Moderna and rushed to use up all our Pfizer, without even reserving second doses. Whatever small Pfizer supply we're going to get will go to the under-30s from July.
I even read about guy who had a first Pfizer shot but has now been told that he will have to wait beyond 12 weeks for his second, with a still unknown date of when he might get it, or have AstraZeneca as a second dose instead.

Pfizer and Moderna vaccines do not appear to pose serious risk during pregnancy, new study suggests
From CNN Health’s Jessica Firger
The Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines don’t appear to pose any serious risks during pregnancy, an early analysis of real-world data from the United States shows.
The analysis only looked at Pfizer and Moderna shots, which are both based on newer mRNA technology, so the findings are not relevant to vaccines such as those made by like AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson.
The new data, along with existing research showing mRNA vaccines are effective in pregnant and breastfeeding people, suggest that the benefits of the vaccines outweigh the risks.
The analysis, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, looked at the data of more than 35,000 pregnant people who had reported their health status through CDC reporting systems, including a smartphone app, and followed up with a group of 3,958 pregnant participants who had received an mRNA vaccine.
It found that adverse outcomes, including pregnancy loss and preterm births, were not significantly higher in people who had been given a vaccine.
