Our oldest Datalounger

I know we had a thread before where people mentioned their ages. I was surprised to see a number of posters in their seventies.

But who is our oldest poster? Do we have any posters over 80?

(I'm nearing 50 and not trying to be snarky, I am genuinely curious.)

by Anonymousreply 90April 12, 2021 2:55 AM

[quote] I was surprised to see a number of posters in their seventies.

If you think about it - 15 years ago they'd have been in their 50s, not so old for DL and they probably just stuck around.

by Anonymousreply 1March 16, 2021 8:33 PM

If Cackle Cackle is still alive and posting here, he’s definitely in his late 70s/early 80s

by Anonymousreply 2March 16, 2021 8:34 PM

I thought we determined that Cackle Cackle died some number of years ago.

by Anonymousreply 3March 16, 2021 8:37 PM

I'm sure there was someone here who said he'd seen Gone With The Wind at the cinema in 1939 as a teenager!

by Anonymousreply 4March 16, 2021 8:37 PM

Prince Philipp is 99. Pretty sure he posts here.

by Anonymousreply 5March 16, 2021 8:37 PM

Joan Rivers still gets a funny one liner on DL, not sure how she does it though.

by Anonymousreply 6March 16, 2021 8:39 PM

[quote]Prince Philipp

Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 7March 16, 2021 8:39 PM

[quote]I'm sure there was someone here who said he'd seen Gone With The Wind at the cinema in 1939 as a teenager!

There was a weirdo who'd say things like he was 45 in 1963

by Anonymousreply 8March 16, 2021 8:40 PM

Sorry, R7, I meant "Prinz Philipp".

by Anonymousreply 9March 16, 2021 8:41 PM

I'm 65 but look 32, and still have that exuberance to win beauty queen contests at festival parades celebrating agricultural produce. 🍑 🍉 🍐 🍇 🍎 🍤 🐟 🌽

by Anonymousreply 10March 16, 2021 8:47 PM

I think we have a few in their early 70s.

by Anonymousreply 11March 16, 2021 8:55 PM

Sorry, OP. I simply can't help you here.

I'm still an ingenue!

by Anonymousreply 12March 16, 2021 9:03 PM

Yes indeed, R11.

by Anonymousreply 13March 16, 2021 9:09 PM

Currently threescore and ten.

by Anonymousreply 14March 16, 2021 9:09 PM

I like to tell people I’m 39, but I not only saw GWTW on opening night, but I even got my senior discount.

Vivien Leigh was supposed to make a surprise appearance at the theater that night, but the studio sent a couple of the Munchkins by mistake.

by Anonymousreply 15March 16, 2021 9:10 PM

Here at Shangri-Lounge no one is over 39.

by Anonymousreply 16March 16, 2021 9:27 PM

Erna was Judy Garland’s stand-in during filming of Wizard of Oz. He also went to kindergarten with Peggy Lee in Culver City.

by Anonymousreply 17March 16, 2021 9:48 PM

Good for you, BAG! I hope I have the fortitude -- and the wits -- to still be around here at 70.

by Anonymousreply 18March 16, 2021 9:51 PM

R15 Hope you enjoyed the show!

by Anonymousreply 19March 16, 2021 10:47 PM

by Anonymousreply 20March 17, 2021 12:22 AM

Erna must be at least 102

by Anonymousreply 21March 17, 2021 10:00 AM

I'm 39.

When I first came here in 2016 there was a poster who claimed to have been retired since 1980, so if he's still with us he must be ancient.

by Anonymousreply 23March 17, 2021 10:24 AM

What?

I've always denied the legend that you were in 'Our American Cousin' the night Lincoln was shot.

by Anonymousreply 28March 18, 2021 2:06 AM

There used to be a 100-year-old poster, or at least that is what he claimed. Haven't seen him around though..

by Anonymousreply 29March 18, 2021 2:08 AM

r29, was he the one who said he'd retired in the 80s and worked with computers? I remember someone like that from last year.

by Anonymousreply 30March 18, 2021 2:11 AM

R30, I think that might be the one!

by Anonymousreply 31March 18, 2021 2:13 AM

I've been here from the very start.

by Anonymousreply 34March 18, 2021 2:43 AM

I'm 55 and have been on the DL since 2005 and have lost track of all time.

by Anonymousreply 35March 18, 2021 2:46 AM

I'm 64. I think I've been on DL since 1996?

by Anonymousreply 36March 18, 2021 2:47 AM

I anticipated my arrival at the DataLounge while I waited for the internet to be invented, as soon as Edison got the electrical wires up.

by Anonymousreply 37March 18, 2021 2:58 AM

I was born before 9/11, I’m ancient.

by Anonymousreply 39March 18, 2021 5:27 AM

68. Up there, but not the seegar.

by Anonymousreply 40March 18, 2021 5:32 AM

R38 so was I. I was too young to understand Wishbone, but I sure knew what Pepper Ann was.

by Anonymousreply 41March 18, 2021 5:54 AM

@r41 my older brother loved wishbone but I don’t remember it. Not sure what pepper Ann is? But that’s so raven was high art back in 2004.

Now it's just your gunt that flaps.

by Anonymousreply 45March 18, 2021 2:25 PM

We used to have someone who would subtly mention in threads things like "I was only 3 when Archbishop Ferdinand was shot."

by Anonymousreply 46March 18, 2021 2:28 PM

I wonder if there's anyone here who posted from Day One in 1995?

by Anonymousreply 47March 18, 2021 2:29 PM

As an aside to this question: Do we have an "Honor Roll" of (decent) DL posters who have passed on; e.g., Op Brian (our artist), Pierre (our Christmas Moose), others?

by Anonymousreply 48March 18, 2021 2:53 PM

What about Bill Taylor? He seemed a bit ancient. I'm laughing even now typing and recalling his Disney cruise rape.

by Anonymousreply 49March 18, 2021 3:56 PM

I did a DL age poll a few years ago & someone said they were in their 90s...

They could still be alive.

by Anonymousreply 50March 18, 2021 4:00 PM

Bill Taylor's mom, Ruth chimes now and then.

by Anonymousreply 51March 18, 2021 4:39 PM

I'm Sully O'Mulley, I'm 60 and I like to quip, joke and screech. I'm 60!

by Anonymousreply 52March 18, 2021 4:41 PM

72 here.

by Anonymousreply 53March 18, 2021 4:51 PM

I remember someone talking about their younger brother turning, like 80 or something. It was wild.

I know it’s just a message board, but I can’t imagine my grandparents being so tech savvy as to post here. I’m mean if they were gay...and alive. 😭😭😭

by Anonymousreply 59March 18, 2021 10:50 PM

I always wonder if David Ehrenstein still posts here. He's 74.

by Anonymousreply 60March 18, 2021 10:55 PM

Would that be longest running subscriber or nearest to the grave? I'm still a baby here on the DL

by Anonymousreply 61March 18, 2021 11:06 PM

R60 He flounced in protest of something or another ages ago.

I don't think he can type all that fast with only one hand. His other hand is clutching pearls in perpetuity.

by Anonymousreply 62March 19, 2021 12:32 AM

Hissssss!

by Anonymousreply 63March 19, 2021 12:35 AM

So are VOTN and 30, Fat and Friendless still around?

by Anonymousreply 64March 19, 2021 12:52 AM

VOTN pops in once or twice a year, it seems.

by Anonymousreply 65March 19, 2021 12:53 AM

I’ll be 77 in July. My folks lived to be 95, so I’m doing a countdown of sorts. Plan to stay on DL till the end. I enjoy this unique experience and don’t miss a day.

by Anonymousreply 66March 19, 2021 1:02 AM

I forget, were Erna and Mrs Patrick Campbell the same person? I haven't been on as much as I used to and I'm trying to recall the usual suspect. White Belt Man?

by Anonymousreply 67March 19, 2021 1:19 AM

I really wish that 100 year old guy would come back. He told interesting stories and didn't seem trollish. He was matter of fact about his age.

What about G/rumpy? Is he still around?

by Anonymousreply 81April 2, 2021 9:24 PM

[quote]I was only 3 when Archbishop Ferdinand was shot.

Oh Dear

by Anonymousreply 82April 2, 2021 9:46 PM

Posters over 70 always find a way to make you do math.

They also ALWAYS tell you, “Don’t go away empty handed” and then give you a bag of garbage to take out for them.

by Anonymousreply 83April 2, 2021 9:58 PM

If you grammar Nazi’s are going to ‘oh dear’ everything, then the least you can do is correct the offender’s error so others can learn from it.

by Anonymousreply 84April 2, 2021 10:05 PM

It’s Marmaduke Ferdinand.

by Anonymousreply 85April 2, 2021 10:06 PM

OK, R84, its Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, whose assassination in Sarajevo essentially began WWI.

by Anonymousreply 86April 3, 2021 2:56 AM

R34, being on DL ages you for 20 years, on average.

by Anonymousreply 87April 3, 2021 10:55 AM

More or less been on DL for 15 years and I’m 58.

by Anonymousreply 88April 3, 2021 1:15 PM

I’m 420 years old in dog years.

by Anonymousreply 89April 3, 2021 9:06 PM

R76, did "Pierre" actually die, or was the identity attached to that name simply retired? (per the question at R71)

I ask because he apparently had socks.
