Lately, I find myself listening to a Billboard year-end playlist for specific years on YouTube.
Most recently it was 1978.
It can be interesting to see videos for early 1970s songs which I never knew had videos. Videos where the artists lip-synched to the actual recording of the song.
For example, I listened to the 1974 Billboard list and there was a "video" for "Oh, What a Night (December 1963)" which was the group sitting in a studio setting just lip-synching to the song. Early MTV-style stuff.

Been listening to rockabilly/punk Dan Sartain. Also Orville Peck.

That goddamn Orville Peck. Just wonderful. I mix it up with Ray Price and Hank Thompson. Also, Wanda Jackson’s country catalogue.

This excellent cover. And I'm not a fan of Desi Lovetta or whatever her name is.

I'm rediscovering 70s folk pop that I was only vaguely familiar with like Smokie, Lobo, Pussycat, Suzi Quatro and discovering a lot if other stuff in that vein that really appeal to me. It's a blend if smart yet bubbly to me that I am totally digging.

I’ve never heard this ONJ number before, even it’s on that bestselling 1981 album, ‘Physical’.
Feeling the laidback 80s California vibe

I just turned on iTunes shuffle and what came up is Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You," much hated by many on DL, but greatly loved by me, mainly for the memories it brings up.
I had a new job in 1984 at which I had to arrive at 7:00 am. For the first month, a new friend would call me at 5:00 am every morning to make sure I woke up in time. This song was very popular then, and I made a mixtape that was nothing but it and "Smalltown Boy" on repeat, and I would listen to those two songs over and over as I walked to the subway and rode to work.
Thanks and RIP, Sean E.

‘Tonight is forever’ by Liza.
This song, written by the Pet Shop Boys, is actually quite dark, or cynical, depending on your POV. But I love the lushly romantic way Liza sings, turning it into something sweet and poignant, minus the bitter bits

Marianne Faithful Kissing Time. One of my all time favourite albums. I forgot and started listening again. Sex with Strangers is my jam.
