Heart Disease or Attack

Anyone have heart trouble or had an attack? What were your first symptoms?

I am 43 and lately I have been having some major chest pain and discomfort and tightness. I can't tell if it's because of my back issues or the heart.

by Anonymousreply 42June 25, 2021 9:37 AM

You’re just having a gall bladder attack, you fat whore.

by Anonymousreply 1February 26, 2021 9:26 PM

Go get checked, OP. SOON. You don't fuck around with chest pain. Heart symptoms can radiate to the back, neck, jaw along with the typical chest/arm presentation.

by Anonymousreply 2February 26, 2021 9:28 PM

If it's tightness it may be heart related. Check with your doctor or clinic for a basic check-up (blood pressure, blood test) and ask them to give you an EKG test. It's best to get a diagnosis early so you don't end up with a cardiac incident . I had a issues at 51 and it was a blocked artery for which I ended up getting a angioplasty, a stent inserted into an artery. At 58 I ended up with triple bypass. I was fortunate that I never experienced a heart attack so I have no heart muscle damage or atrophy. Better to be safe.

by Anonymousreply 3February 26, 2021 9:30 PM

Those are also typical symptoms of GERD/acid reflux. So it might not be your heart. But if you think it's a sign of a heart attack, get yourself to the ER. There you will find out in a big hurry what's going on and be referred to a cardiologist if you need one.

by Anonymousreply 4February 26, 2021 9:31 PM

It can also be anxiety related or gastrointestinal.

That's why you need to see a doctor to get to the bottom of this.

by Anonymousreply 5February 26, 2021 9:31 PM

My neck, my back, my pussy, and my crack!

by Anonymousreply 6February 26, 2021 9:36 PM

I was having chest pains when I was dealing with stress-related panic attacks. It was due to my job and was debilitating. It’s hard to describe how awful it was. After 3 consecutive years of having to take sick leave for periods of time, I’ve finally come to the point where I realize I can no longer do the job I’ve been doing the last 9 years. I’m doing 75% of it at the moment, but have informed my principal that I will have to reduce my teaching time next year if I can’t do something else for the 25% part. Chest pain is TERRIFYING.

by Anonymousreply 7February 26, 2021 9:42 PM

Yeah, Datalounge is the perfect place to check to see if you're having a heart attack.

If you are concerned, GO. TO. THE. DOCTOR.

by Anonymousreply 8February 26, 2021 9:46 PM

It's just acid reflux.

Belch yourself.

by Anonymousreply 9February 26, 2021 9:47 PM

It’s, whaddayacall psychicsemitic, OP.

by Anonymousreply 10February 26, 2021 9:59 PM

It's your back., Eve. You don't have a heart.

by Anonymousreply 11February 26, 2021 10:43 PM

This morning I’ve been having intermittent tight/tense sensations, discomfort (but not pain) and a noticeable pulse in my left side ribs/pit, shoulderblade, jaw, clavicle and above/around my upper breast and chest on the far left side. I also felt nausea and wooziness for an hour or so after waking and going for a shower, and felt more comfortable curled up or doubled over than standing upright.

Another odd symptom I’ve noticed is that a few of my fingernails seem to be going cloudy around the lunulae. However, now a few hours later the nausea has subsided, I’m not very out of breath (though it’s a bit more effort than it ought to be to get a deep one at rest), and my pulse rate and blood oxygen is normal.

The curious part is that I am not in a risk category for heart problems at all—female under 30, non smoker/drinker, physically fit (but not an exercise freak either), not taking birth control and not pregnant (and there’s no way I could be, short of a Nativity), and having no family history of cardiac events. Surely if it were my heart having issues, it would have to be a very unlucky freak one-in-a-million case of SCAD or PE or something, right?

As to what else it could be: I have developed GERD in the past couple of years, but since Spring I’ve been controlling it pretty well and haven’t had a single flare. I’ve also had a few panic attacks in recent months, but they felt entirely different to this (more in the respiratory system). I’ve checked my lymph nodes over and they aren’t swollen or sore or anything, so it’s not that either.

A part of me can’t help panicking that it’s the onset of myocarditis or pericarditis from the Pfizer vaccine that I had ten days ago, which according to my research so far seemingly presents occasionally in younger people (albeit most of them teenaged or 20-something l men). I was at hospital about three days ago—which thanks to a stressed NHS was a days wait on the phone and then several hours more in a cold ward at night)—where they did a quick EKG and D-Dimer and pronounced me fine, but all this I’ve just described has come on since. My GP surgery don’t usually let you speak to a doctor in the afternoon, so I don’t know what I should do next.

by Anonymousreply 12June 22, 2021 12:45 PM

OP it’s most likely anxiety related. Especially if you were just checked out 3 days ago.

Wait to speak to the doctor later today and keep breathing.

by Anonymousreply 13June 22, 2021 12:48 PM

I agree about anxiety...Also had Pfizer and Since then I've noticed...on a vey intermittent basis, the odd headache or tightness in my chest, and sometimes fatigue. None of these things are severe or frequent, but I never had that before. I think anxiety plays a role. I think if we listen to too much news about the Delta Variant, etc. and COVIDS news, etc. it affects us.

by Anonymousreply 14June 22, 2021 12:57 PM

Like other people said, at your age it may be your stomach, gas, bloating, acid reflux. Or muscular tension. Try Prilosec or other proton pump inhibitor.

Also try large doses or Ibuprofen for a few days, 4 every 4 hours. See if that helps, if so it's anxiety, tension, muscular. Beta Blockers may help as well.

I went to the emergency room once thinking it was a heart attack. It was both acid reflux (untreated ulcer) and anxiety.

See a doctor though either way. All of it is worth identifying and treating.

by Anonymousreply 15June 22, 2021 1:00 PM

Sounds like you may need a Letterman.

by Anonymousreply 16June 22, 2021 1:09 PM

R12, an EKG and D-Dimer will show if you’re having a heart attack at the moment but may not necessarily show blockages. You need to get a stress test. But your symptoms are classic heart problems, sorry to say. Tightness and shortness of breath in particular. My mom was the picture of health until she had a heart attack a few months ago, she had no pain, but had tightness and shortness of breath.

by Anonymousreply 17June 22, 2021 1:09 PM

Ten years ago I had a three week bout with chest tightness and shortness of breath. The weird part is that it didn't get worse with activity - I had the symptoms climbing stairs AND sitting on my couch. What was it? ASTHMA.

by Anonymousreply 18June 22, 2021 1:14 PM

[quote]Also try large doses or Ibuprofen for a few days, 4 every 4 hours.

You'll also need treatment for the hole in your stomach caused by the Ibuprofen.

by Anonymousreply 19June 22, 2021 1:15 PM

OP, can I have your things?

by Anonymousreply 20June 22, 2021 1:16 PM

Lay off the broccoli gas bag.

by Anonymousreply 21June 22, 2021 1:16 PM

r19 It's not Tylenol. Take it with milk or food. High doses are safe for short periods of time. Better than prednisone of other options. Many athletes. arthritis sufferers, etc. use these doses for long periods of time with little of no side effects. Much much better than opiates. Inflammation is bad. Yoga helps too. Hydration.

by Anonymousreply 22June 22, 2021 1:34 PM

R22, large doses of Ibuprofen WITH FOOD, will cause problems. Long term use will cause problems. One might be lucky and has only minor issues, but it's not a good idea to take mega doses of Ibuprofen. Tylenol problems are different, and I don't know how anyone could confuse the two.

by Anonymousreply 23June 22, 2021 1:46 PM

R17??? That’s alarming. Sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she was/is alright or at least not in pain. I meant to ask for an angiogram when I was at the hospital the other night, but after waiting seven hours through the cold dark night on tenterhooks, surrounded by addicts on a comedown, the stress and exhaustion made me forget.

R15/R22 Water and yoga sound good, only moving around or lying down seems to increase the discomfort a little. Aren’t NSAIDs the worst thing to take for heart problems? Heard that ages ago, can’t recall where. The same goes for paracetamol, iirc. Maybe aspirin would be safer...? And PPI drugs are my worst nightmare, I really do not ever want to take those awful things (had a friend who did, and it was a horrorshow).

R18 yeah, I feel that. I have mild seasonal asthma that always gets bad in the autumn-winter transitional months. It’s a bitch. Right now I’m not wheezing, and I don’t usually have it at this time of year, though...:/

R14 how long ago did you get your Pfizer? I’m curious to get a diary of other people’s symptoms, because mine seem to have lasted quite a while and been moderately uncomfortable.

Had a thought that I have been drinking acerola cherry in smoothies this week—perhaps I’ve megadosed on vit C, or something? Looking it up, that can cause nausea, dizziness and cramps, but doesn’t seem to cause chills or chest/upper body/arm tightness and discomfort that I’m experiencing...

Called the doctor, and waiting for a callback (but may not get one, state of the health service atm). Just checked myself over and I haven’t got any signs of edema or anything turning blue, so I guess that’s positive? :/

by Anonymousreply 24June 22, 2021 1:57 PM

It could be heart It's a good idea to get a general check-up with an EKG to rule out an immediate heart issue.

by Anonymousreply 25June 22, 2021 2:18 PM

It would probably be a good idea to stay away from the crystal meth and coke…..

by Anonymousreply 26June 22, 2021 2:49 PM

Very first, distinct symptom of chronic heart failure is constant wet coughing without a cold. Then you feel a pang/a sore very often in your left arm. Just lose 200 lbs and dtink lotsa water and you will be better.

by Anonymousreply 27June 22, 2021 3:05 PM

R24/R12, do you have a job? Something to keep your mind off your very numerous ailments might help you to feel better. And maybe it would prevent you from posting lengthy lists of symptoms on DL.

by Anonymousreply 28June 22, 2021 3:42 PM

Definitely get it checked out! But it might not necessarily be your heart. A few years ago, I had these scary pains right where my heart is. After a multitude of tests -- stress test, echocardiogram, some sort of radiologic scan -- they found nothing. I think it was anxiety. I was working in a very stressful situation with an unstable higher-up who was threatening suicide. The weird thing is that I never was the type to experience anxiety in a physical way like that. Not before and not since.

by Anonymousreply 29June 22, 2021 3:53 PM

R24/R12 must be the OP of the linked thread about her dire reactions to pretty much everything she's ever encountered. At least I hope there aren't 2 like her.

R13- You’re not the Happy Fat Chick on YouTube who eats the entire menu of the Cheesecake Factory on camera.

by Anonymousreply 31June 22, 2021 4:24 PM

My comment was meant for R12 not R13

by Anonymousreply 32June 22, 2021 4:25 PM

I love ibuprofen. Instead of taking 19 medications for a variety of problems associated with inflammation, I take ibuprofen. I get regular checkups.

My suggestion for the OP was take large does for a week and see if the symptoms go away. If so, it's probably inflammation. Prilosec for a week, goes away? Probably GERD or acid reflux. If it's a fucking heart attack waiting to happen, you/re going to need surgery and long term care. I had the same symptoms and it was stressed induced muscular tension around the chest and back, and some acid reflux.

Beta blockers were on the table. I take ibuprofen. Half you queens are zonked out on Tramadol and Vicodin/Wine all day, so harping on ibuprofen is hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 33June 25, 2021 7:20 AM

I’m going to start smoking again. R12, r24, Op…whoever it is, drove me to it. I mean really, FUCK! This is bonkers.

by Anonymousreply 34June 25, 2021 7:38 AM

r34 My partner just quit smoking. Everytime you want to smoke, drink a glass of wine or a beer. Hopefully you quit smoking before you become an alcoholic. Or gummy bears. That is how my dad quit after 4o years of smoking.

Maybe don't worry so much about the IOP? She will be fine. Or just smoke.

by Anonymousreply 35June 25, 2021 7:48 AM

it is heart. Go to the ER. or at least an urgent care clinic. This is serious.

by Anonymousreply 36June 25, 2021 8:08 AM

OP here. I did go for an EKG and an the doctor looked at my heart. She said it looks normal and I need a change in lifestyle and the pain came from my cervical spondylosis. As such she said to go to an orthopedic surgeon who suggested an MRI of the spine which confirmed the spondylosis in the cervical and lumbar spine. THEN he referred me to what is known in Eastern Europe as a "balneologist" and she ran a set of blood tests and recommended physical therapy and medical massage exercises. However, because they have a protocol here where MANY specialists look, they sent me to a neurologist who ran some obscure tests and found out my homocysteine levels were far too high (well, I knew about the homo part). Now I need to go back to the cardiologist for a follow-up due to the homocysteine and "alarmingly" high triglycerides. Yep, that is how they roll here..

by Anonymousreply 37June 25, 2021 8:19 AM

If you take ibuprofen just know that it can cause acid reflux issues which could actually make your symptoms worse. Take good antacids to counter the issues with ibuprofen.

by Anonymousreply 38June 25, 2021 8:55 AM

Oh OP is the Munchausen Troll. I had a feeling but then when she said she's a female, I knew it was her. She's all over the vaccine threads about all the "side effects" she's having from the vaccine.

You should really see a psychiatrist and tell them you have Munchausen Syndrome.

by Anonymousreply 39June 25, 2021 9:12 AM

R39 - are you nuts? You got posters mixed up. This isn't a female. It's a 43 year old man working abroad and I didn't have any major vax side effects besides a day of flu-like symptoms after the second jab. Look at my posting history bitch.

R38 - sadly, due to my ulcerative colitis, ibuprofen gives me bloody stool so I can't take it orally. Aleve is easier to tolerate though he docs said that given my family history of hemorragic strokes, I need to try to take it as little as possible and in low doses.

by Anonymousreply 40June 25, 2021 9:26 AM

Female, Under 30

by Anonymousreply 41June 25, 2021 9:34 AM

R41 - that isn't me. I am a 43 year old gay man ffs. I wish I was 30 and a non-smoker. Shit, I will even take being female and a hypochondriac to just be 30 again. Look at my posting history. Ain't me.
