Being gay is fucking shit. Gay men are unappealing, especially if you compare them to straight men. Seriously, given what's out there, you look at gay guys and after all the shit we have to put up with, that's what we get. I remember someone posting something similar a while back and they were completely right .
Feminism is a pile of dog crap. Women want equal rights when it suits them. Straight women run rings around straight men who just put up with it and would never admit to the having the same views.

The White House is way too small. They should have gone ahead with the expansions being proposed in the 1850s that were eventually derailed by the Civil War and Lincoln's assassination. We shouldn't have to have state dinners crammed into the ballroom or outside on the lawn under a tent.
The President and their families shouldn't be charged for food in the White House when this country gleefully grants corporations the right to write off business lunches.

Public Schools should not obtain funds via property taxes. All school funds should come directly from the state government at a proportional rate based on the average number of students enrolled within the last five years.
All schools should have a gifted and talented program. General councilors should be available in every county and meet with with every child at least once a semester. Children that are placed in detention more than once should have to spend one of those periods in a group concealing session with their peers rather than sitting in a room for an hour doing nothing.
Basic high speed internet plan should be available for all families with children, but they will have to pay for the services during the summer months.
Children should be held back if they fail their grade's math courses or civics.

1000% anecdotal, r20, but the most brilliant member of my academic department is a practicing Catholic. Also, my biological mother (I'm adopted) has a professionally tested IQ that is very high; the psychologist who administered the test said it was the highest score he'd ever personally tested. She taught herself to read Japanese, but was a high school drop out. She has also been a fundamentalist Christian most of her adult life, and a creationist to boot.
Not saying that there aren't generalizations at play; but I think there is a bit more nuance to it.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 21, 2021 4:51 PM |
r20 a belief in religion is a security blanket against our impending end. Most of us aren't happy accepting that we will become nothing at the end of our lives. Religion gives many people piece and hope as they drift off into their long sleep.

I didn't enjoy the Donald Trump years, but mostly because I knew he was temperamentally unsuitable (putting it mildly) and was setting back the causes that he espoused. I don't agree with illegal immigration, I don't agree with outsourcing jobs overseas, I don't agree with neverending foreign interventionism, I don't agree that transwomen are women. But because of the entirely predictable shitshow that was the Trump administration, all of those issues have been ceded.

Most people protesting at the Capitol were indeed behaving legally...and yet they were still stupid to believe the election was stolen. The heavy media focus on just the evildoers inadvertently added legitimacy to questioning the election's results.
Log Cabin Republicans actually did help normalize homosexuality for many of the GOP, and helped enhance the cause toward gay rights.
Most GOP members, as misguided as their beliefs may be at times, just want lower taxes and stability, are legitimately afraid of overspending by the government, and wish for things in the media to not be so crazy - these folks are relieved that Cheeto is gone, and really hope Biden will be more balanced.
Being a fabulous and irreverent drag queen or any kind of media celeb does not make you anywhere as talented as a really great singer or dancer. Our community and our allies worship drag queens and divas more than truly talented artists - who never see the light of day because they are eclipsed by all the larger than life performers out there with good agents.

Most trans folk are very much hung up on gender issues and gender expression.
If you can truly accept yourself as a man with 'feminine' qualities, AND can accept that the concept of 'femininity is for women only' is a truly bullshit motif, then you wouldn't want to have surgery in order to verify your own 'feminine' qualities. You would just accept yourself as a man with various traits, like any other man, and wouldn't need to label yourself as a woman, trapped in a man's body or otherwise, in order to sign up for said bullshit motif.

Babies are not pure. They actually represent the worst of humanity - they are selfish, self absorbed, caring about nothing but themselves. As they should be to survive.
Humans have to be socialized to learn how to be nice and treat each other respectfully. Hate is just as natural as love. We don’t have to be taught how to hate - just WHAT to hate. But we are born with the capacity to hate.
Humans are social pack animals. The surest way to start a war is draw a line. Humans will choose a side and find a reason to hate and attack the other side while defending and exalting their own. Color, race, nationality, sex are all just easy markers to use when picking a side. We even make up reasons to divide ourselves - ie sports teams. We actually naturally want division. Humanity will never be one.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 1, 2021 7:55 AM |
As said above I believe gender reassignment surgery actually goes against everything Trans people are fighting for. Why on one hand would work to tear down gender norms then go ahead and mutilate your body just to confirm them? All girls must have boobs.
Instead I think trans people should be working towards the idea that some women have penises and some men have vaginas thus erasing the idea that a particular gender HAS to look a certain way. No one is trapped in a body. Just trapped in the idea of what a body should look like.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 1, 2021 8:01 AM |
R42 especially when you consider gender reassignment surgery is purely cosmetic. You aren’t changing anything on a cellular level. Trans women don’t get periods or have wombs to carry children. Trans men don’t ejaculate semen. When on the operating table, a surgeon is still going to need to know if they are physically dealing with a male or female body.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 1, 2021 8:06 AM |
R40 - he only gave her that bump because the poor old thing gets confused after a few drinks and Kamala's large head turned him on as much as Laura Ingraham's deep voice and Man Coulter's Adam's apple. With Miss Lindz you KNOW Laura was the top.

R17 and r18, The "demographics" have zero to do with inherent intelligence and everything to do with how many males today cannot deal well with academic subjects that are less rigid, less absolute, less "one correct answer," less open to discussion or debate, less "true or false,"" less "provable," less observable or tangible than mathematics, engineering, and the "hard" sciences of physics, chemistry, etc. .
That is to say, the humanities, art, philosophy, literature, poetry, music---no matter the innumerable works of genius by men in these areas---are often scornex by male students at all educational levels. They want "the right answer," frequently asking in exasperation, "What should we write down?!"
But one cannot overlook societal factors---such as the governmental advocacy of "STEM" academic subjects, career prestige, and salaries---which might influence males more than females (which outlook can include that whole "family and child-bearing" thing).
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 1, 2021 1:35 PM |
[quote]The "demographics" have zero to do with inherent intelligence
Completely taking gender out of the equation, do you really want to argue that it is equally difficult to write a dissertation in, say, higher education and analytic number theory? That it requires the same degree of complex reasoning and mental energy? That, all else being equal, any person picked at random from society would find earning a BA/BS in education/mathematics requires comparable levels of intelligence?
Also, just a few generations ago, all humanities fields were dominated by men. The shift of men to STEM can't be pinned solely on male students' desire for the "right answer." I've found some of my most percipient students (male and female) come from STEM majors.
As someone with a PhD in the humanities (literature), I find myself frustrated with the lack of intellectual rigor that has infected many disciplines, especially at the undergraduate level. I wrote a long post about this recently but am disinclined to look for it at the moment.
