I can't believe they're getting snake-oil salesman Dr. Oz to guest host.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 6, 2021 9:16 PM |
Link to the previous thread in case anyone is interested.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 6, 2021 9:18 PM |
On Friday's show, Final was completely obvious to me. Super surprised no one got it.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 6, 2021 9:23 PM |
Are we going to officially abandon the other two Part 21 threads now?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 6, 2021 9:24 PM |
Just curious, I haven’t been sure where to post and now there’s three threads.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 6, 2021 9:26 PM |
Ditto, R3.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 6, 2021 9:26 PM |
How much longer is Ken Jennings going to be guest hosting before they start trying out others?
And when they do try out others, will it be for a single episode or a whole week's worth of episodes?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 7, 2021 9:29 PM |
I can't believe I am saying this, but I'm actually enjoying Ken as host. I thought I would hate him but I don't mind him. I"m actually not looking forward to getting used to new hosts.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 7, 2021 9:31 PM |
I got FJ! Also, Michael was quite handsome.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 8, 2021 11:56 PM |
I didn't think I'd like Ken Jennings but I like him. I hope the other 'guest hosts' have only a day or two so we can be back to Ken.
Aaron Rodgers and Katie Couric will be fun (cute!) but let's get back to a real host.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 9, 2021 12:43 AM |
I guessed Rhode Island for Final. Maryland didn't cross my mind.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 10, 2021 11:40 AM |
How long is Ken Jennings going to be guest host? I don't mind him but I hate to think of being stuck with Katie Couric or Aaron Rodgers for more than a week.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 10, 2021 1:33 PM |
Me too, r11.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 10, 2021 1:35 PM |
I got Maryland.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 10, 2021 1:56 PM |
I know nothing about geography. I bet zero dollars and guessed New York!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 10, 2021 2:03 PM |
I idiotically thought it was New Hampshire.
Maryland never occurred to me.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 10, 2021 3:10 PM |
I'm really liking Ken Jenniings. Didn't think I would. Now I hope he gets the job and the producers don't waste our time with Katie Couric and Aaron Rodgers.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 10, 2021 5:49 PM |
North Carolina was a terrible answer.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 10, 2021 5:51 PM |
R18 FU. Sometimes the most outrageous answers are the best.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 10, 2021 5:53 PM |
R17, Is Dane Cook really going to be a guest host?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 10, 2021 6:22 PM |
The state had only a small Atlantic coast. That rules out North Carolina.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 10, 2021 6:33 PM |
Ken is doing a very good job, I'm surprised to say. He's following Alex's style to the letter. Clearly had lots of grooming from the producers. It clearly looks like he's the one they want since we're now of Week Five of him guest hosting.
I suspect all these other guest hosts they're going to have is just to go through the motions of looking like they tried out other people for the job.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 10, 2021 8:25 PM |
R22 I hope so. I don't think I can watch more than a week of Couric and Rodgers.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 11, 2021 3:28 AM |
As much as I didn't like Ken, I feel he is the right choice. He's one of the most well-known - perhaps THE most well-known - Jeopardy players, and the show needs someone who understands Jeopardy and who has an extensive history with it. I get why they chose Ken to host (for now).
The one thing I do like about him is that he keeps the focus on the game. I appreciate that he is not overcompensating or trying to make it about himself. He also shows genuine warmth which I didn't expect.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 11, 2021 3:44 AM |
That was another hard FJ. I was thinking airplanes and didn't even consider dirigibles...
I'm on the Ken bandwagon too: whatever the knack is for hosting the show is, he's quickly discovered and mastered it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 11, 2021 3:52 AM |
I don’t see current champ John leaving anytime soon.
Nice story of his marrying husband Jeff.
FJ was incredibly easy, I thought.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 11, 2021 4:47 AM |
I missed it last night; was hooked on the impeachment trial. I'll have to go the website to find out the FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 11, 2021 12:38 PM |
Initially I wasn't looking forward to seeing Ken host either, but he's doing a really good job and it's becoming a better fit for him as the weeks go on.
But having said that, I still wouldn't mind still seeing Aaron Rodgers and Katie Couric either because they could just as easily win people over.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 11, 2021 12:43 PM |
Katie's gummy smile will drive me away.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 11, 2021 2:45 PM |
Ken is doing a great job, I think. But I still think his face looks like a cartoon character.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 11, 2021 4:02 PM |
When will Jennings be gone?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 11, 2021 4:28 PM |
Ken is growing on me. He treats the contestants with respect; I thought he'd be cocky. Ken isn't as attractive as Alex but he's doing a good job. The 'celebrity hosts' should only be on for a few days each. They're not interested in the job. I'd like to see Levar Burton try out for the job; he was often mentioned in the DL link about Alex's replacement.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 11, 2021 4:46 PM |
Another interesting thread about best guesses for Alex's replacement. No one recommended Aaron or Katie so their choice is definitely a network / Jeopardy choice not a fan choice.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 11, 2021 4:49 PM |
I wonder how Mormon Ken felt when the champion mentioned marrying his husband. Mormons are beginning to seem more accepting of LGBT people (not all Mormons are and I still think it is one of the more ludicrous faith “traditions”).
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 11, 2021 5:23 PM |
Final was incrediblely easy. What else could it have been but the Hindenberg?
Love that champ John came out so casually in talking about marrying his husband, Jeff.
John wasn't setting off my gaydar, so that was a surprise. A pleasant one. Go John!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 11, 2021 8:26 PM |
I thought FJ was a giveaway, too.
I didn't think John was gay only because so many past guests whom I thought were gay turned out to have had wives. So I just presumed John was going to be yet another one.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 11, 2021 8:51 PM |
I guessed Messerschmitt last night (oops), but thought tonight's Oscar question was the giveaway. John for the win.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 12, 2021 6:05 AM |
I like Anderson Cooper, but not for "Jeopardy." He has not enthusiastic.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 12, 2021 10:10 AM |
Wow, this is really shocking and sad. Brayden Smith has passed away.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 12, 2021 7:34 PM |
I was stumped on Final. The clue was clearly written to indicated Walt Disney but that just went over my head.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 12, 2021 9:08 PM |
I wonder what happened r39?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 12, 2021 9:14 PM |
RIP Brayden.

Lance was super fast buzzing in.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 13, 2021 9:16 PM |
The schlub who beat John on Friday is a very annoying guy.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 14, 2021 9:36 PM |
R48 i agree. Lance thinks he's cute and I hate the way he brandishes his buzzer. OH, that sounds so sexual!!
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 14, 2021 9:39 PM |
He was so PUMPED when he won, Dude.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 14, 2021 9:41 PM |
He DOMINATED!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 14, 2021 9:47 PM |
Lance = gay boy. He's sweet but way too dramatic.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 14, 2021 9:48 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 15, 2021 12:47 PM |
Bye, Schlub!👋
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 16, 2021 1:03 AM |
So sad about Brayden. He always seemed a bit melancholy while he was playing, maybe he knew he was dying.
Glad to see the insufferable Lance go tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 16, 2021 3:53 AM |
Brayden was a sweet soul, such a shame that he died so young.
He had a knack for finding DDs and it was amusing how each time he would lean in and scrunch up his face while reading the clue.
I'm sure in the next TofC, they will honor him as they honored the female contestant who died of cancer a couple of years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 16, 2021 7:57 AM |
Who was the lunkhead who guessed Sondheim instead of August Wilson?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 16, 2021 6:50 PM |
I think maybe Lance saw the South Park where Sondheim is revealed to be a huge Steelers fan.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 17, 2021 1:19 AM |
There's a sweetness about the champ that I like.
Both guys have what I call gay hands - you know, the way they move their hands around when they talk.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 17, 2021 1:26 AM |
Lance guessing "Sondheim" made me laugh.
The new guy (second win) seems so shocked to win! I really liked the woman...
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 17, 2021 2:14 AM |
The Jeopardy! guest host schedule at the link. Ken Jennings turn ends this week, and they apparently have not rethought Dr. Oz.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 17, 2021 3:37 AM |
^^Ken Jennings' turn...
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 17, 2021 3:40 AM |
I'd rather they just have the other hosts do one week to get it or with. I don't like all this change.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 17, 2021 4:00 AM |
Had no clue about Final.
Why would Mount Everest be hard for the natives to pronounce?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 17, 2021 10:12 AM |
Everest was so hard, I don't think I'd have picked it on a multiple choice...
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 17, 2021 5:53 PM |
Well, for one thing, it’s not even in India.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 17, 2021 5:57 PM |
Wow, that winter sports FJ was fucking impossible.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 18, 2021 3:09 AM |
It was easy if you know anything about figure skating, such as why they call it “figure skating.”
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 18, 2021 3:19 AM |
R70 I agree! It was such a specific piece of knowledge. Usually, I can make a couple decent guesses but this one was a fucker.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 18, 2021 8:34 AM |
I want to know more about Paul Hoffman. He won a few times and was shocked that he did. It was all due to luck; his competitors bet the bank and he won by default. It's as if he came on the show with no expectations. Also, his backstory intrigues me: He is 'originally' from New Jersey...why doesn't he tell us where he lives now? He speaks 4 languages - including Farsi - and finds that useful when "looking for a job" or qualifying "for a graduate class." He looks to be in his 30s minimum...
What the hell does this guy do for a living? Knowing Farsi and Turkish means he's familiar with the Middle East - wouldn't the US government hire him in a heartbeat? No backstory, no family shoutout. Is he in Witness Protection or the Intelligence Community or what? I'm sorry to see him go but he seemed relieved.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 18, 2021 8:50 AM |
R74 This provided no new information other than his age but thanks for posting.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 18, 2021 10:12 AM |
Figure 8s are something I never would have come up with.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 18, 2021 12:59 PM |
R75 - While I'm not R74, I just read the information he provided and I learned Paul Hoffman is "studying for a doctorate in history at UCLA," and also that he "previously worked as a research analyst for humanitarian aid projects in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan and writes about American foreign policy and politics in the Middle East."
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 18, 2021 2:33 PM |
I just took a look at the schedule for upcoming hosts. Up next is Mike RIchards who is billed as the exec producer of both Jeopardy and WoF. I thought he looked familiar though and I see further down he was the host of Beauty and the Geek. Loved that show!
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 18, 2021 2:46 PM |
R77, Exactly.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 18, 2021 3:23 PM |
R74 Thank you!

Writing "Bryant" for "Bryan" was one of those tiny mistakes that must have had the contestant kicking himself all the way home.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 19, 2021 1:56 PM |
Now I wonder if I knew it was Bryan and not Bryant.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 19, 2021 6:29 PM |
I want to make love with Alan.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 19, 2021 11:47 PM |
I always through it was William Jennings Bryant. That's what I've heard my whole life. So, I would have gotten that wrong too.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 21, 2021 4:59 AM |
R83 by far 1 of the hottest winners we've seen. He's a software engineer too. Too bad he only lasted 1 day but he had a decent finish on Friday.
Alan Johnson is such a common name though it'd be impossible to find out if he has social media
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 21, 2021 6:33 AM |
He twitters r85 and his hometown named 2/18/21 “Jeopardy Johnson Day”
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 21, 2021 11:06 AM |
I know this would make most DLers heads explode, but I like that Alan has "he/him" in his description, which I think is pretty cool for a straight guy.
Now I like him even more, and it makes him even sexier to me
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 21, 2021 1:00 PM |
So the producer serving as host is a hot top.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 22, 2021 11:57 PM |
R88, Mike Richards is hot as fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 23, 2021 1:02 AM |
Reading off a teleprompter is a subtle art that Mike has yet to master.

Will Aaron Rodgers be hosting shirtless?
by Anonymous | reply 91 | February 23, 2021 6:29 AM |

R92, And could FJ have been any easier?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | February 23, 2021 11:47 AM |
No, but I still guessed Chopsticks.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | February 23, 2021 5:12 PM |
The key was “lullaby”
by Anonymous | reply 97 | February 23, 2021 5:52 PM |
As much as I wanted to dislike Mike Richards as host, he actually did a decent job. He was not as stiff as I expected him to be and actually showed some personality.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | February 23, 2021 9:04 PM |
I enjoyed Mike Richards a lot. I mean A LOT.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | February 23, 2021 10:22 PM |
Not liking him.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | February 23, 2021 11:28 PM |
He gives me Joseph Gordon-Leavitt energy.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | February 23, 2021 11:38 PM |
Mike is good looking but i don't like his delivery. Ken and Alex made it seem effortless.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | February 23, 2021 11:50 PM |
I thought Ken was a little awkward in the beginning, but I really warmed up to him as his first week went on, and eventually he won me over as a satisfying host.
Now Mike is a different story. But I'll excuse a lot if a guy is attractive, and he is certainly that.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | February 24, 2021 12:50 AM |
He should have introduced himself as the guest host, just like everyone else.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | February 24, 2021 3:42 AM |
Aaron misspelled Coppola. That matters sometimes, sometimes not.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | February 24, 2021 4:04 AM |
R105, Aaron's cockiness is borderline annoying, but the man is sexy as hell. The chest hair seen at his open shirt collar only confirms his hotness.
I thought FJ was pretty obvious.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | February 24, 2021 4:46 AM |
R102, Alex and Ken were/are used to appearing on camera. Mike is more behind the scenes. Cut him a break, he's doing fine.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | February 24, 2021 4:48 AM |
Mike hosts a game show; he's used to being on camera.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | February 24, 2021 12:52 PM |
Mike is cute and I like the way he hisses slightly when he pronounces '"s".
I missed FJ. Ding dong.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | February 25, 2021 3:50 AM |
I thought FJ might've been Peter Jackson but then I settled on Coppola
by Anonymous | reply 110 | February 25, 2021 3:58 AM |
R108, Which game show?
by Anonymous | reply 111 | February 25, 2021 6:41 AM |
R109, I also noticed the way he pronounces "s" - like a slight but discernable lisp.
It made me look the guy up to see if he were married. (Not that only gay people lisp.)
by Anonymous | reply 112 | February 26, 2021 12:51 AM |
I’d like to hear him mention my dear friend, Bigus Dickus.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | February 26, 2021 4:38 AM |
During the first round on Thursday's show, Mike didn't go to break at the proper time. Alex (and Ken) always went to break after the 15th question. Mike went all the way to the 17th question.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | February 26, 2021 11:15 AM |
Amazingly, I guessed correctly for Final.
Ethiopia popped in my mind when I heard the question because of the bit about it being landlocked since 1993 (when Eritrea gained independence).
by Anonymous | reply 115 | February 26, 2021 11:17 AM |
I’m amazed that Ethiopia has 110 million people.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | February 26, 2021 3:04 PM |
I didn't know Eritrea was on the Red Sea. Hard final.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | February 26, 2021 4:17 PM |
I thought Ollie was sexy tonight. Damn Final!
by Anonymous | reply 118 | February 27, 2021 1:28 AM |

I knew FJ because I took AP American History.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | February 27, 2021 2:07 AM |
I'd never heard of the XYZ affair.
I really liked Ollie. Shame he bet wrong. losing by $4 has got to really sting.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | February 27, 2021 5:05 AM |
I guessed the siege of Tripoli out of sheer desperation.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | February 27, 2021 5:10 AM |
Amazed to hear myself say this, but Mike Richards is doing a good job as host.
Clearly comfortable in front of camera and has a good camera presence.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | February 27, 2021 9:54 PM |
I guessed the Trent Affair but that’s Civil War period.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | February 28, 2021 2:37 AM |

Unlike Jon, I was way off with Final Jeopardy.

by Anonymous | reply 127 | March 3, 2021 5:31 AM |
I do love the way he says “No” as a two syllable word.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | March 3, 2021 5:34 AM |
I guessed Netanyaho because that was the only non-European prime minister I could think of. But I had no confidence in that answer, so I was amazed to find I was correct.
Liking Mike more each episode. He's letting his personality show and clearly he does have some personality. So many bigwig execs are ultra stiff and don't have a personailty. I assumed Mike would be that way. Nice to see I was wrong on that.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | March 3, 2021 9:25 PM |
I wish he’d stop with the ending mantra. Alex was great, but he wasn’t Mahatma Gandhi.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | March 3, 2021 9:45 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 137 | March 4, 2021 3:45 AM |
Mike Richards is hot.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | March 4, 2021 4:40 AM |
I had no idea for FJ. I figured France, based on the architect’s names, but wasted too much time thinking about Notre Dame, which is much too old. Can’t believe the lawyer didn’t know Esquire.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | March 4, 2021 5:17 AM |
With Ken, it's like you're watching the Ken Jennings Show: you always know he's there.
Mike is more effacing: he pretty much melts into the set, letting you pay attention to the game, not the host.
Ken also has a somewhat distracting high pitch to his voice, while Mike's got the usual professional MC voice.
So while it was interesting to watch Ken host, I'd say Mike is more viable over the long term.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | March 4, 2021 7:41 AM |
Mike does two things that Alex Trebek used to do which made him an effective game show host: stay out of the game, and keep the game moving.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | March 4, 2021 8:14 AM |
omg that ending was epic!
funny thing is heading into final jeopardy I was thinking to myself it'd be funny if the player with the lowest score won and that's what happened. Both the guys were overly confident

R142, Weren't they both forced to bet everything, seeing that they had equal totals and had to assume the other guy might bet it all?
by Anonymous | reply 143 | March 4, 2021 11:17 AM |
R140, Plus, Mike is easier on the eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | March 4, 2021 11:18 AM |
One of the best endings ever! Winner will be crushed tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | March 4, 2021 12:50 PM |
Great Final. I guessed Notre Dame, which obviously was wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | March 4, 2021 12:52 PM |
Mike looks sexy in a suit. He has great legs.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | March 4, 2021 11:09 PM |
Both Mike and Ken have looked sharper in suits than Alex ever did. I wonder if they have boosted the costume budget and we'll see Katie Couric in a stunning gown.

George VI was on "Mad Men"?
by Anonymous | reply 149 | March 4, 2021 11:37 PM |
It was an idiotic response.
After then after hearing he was wrong, he mumbled something about George being "a mad man," making me think (1) he was confusing George VI with George III, and (2) he hadn't the slightest idea what "Mad Men" was about.
In fact many of the responses tonight seemed to be wild guesses.
On a positive note, Mike continues to be sexy.

My cable was out today, so I was not able to watch Thursday's episode.
Is there anyplace online to watch the full Jeopardy episode?
by Anonymous | reply 152 | March 5, 2021 8:08 AM |
Search YouTube for "Jeopardy" limiting the search to today. Often but not always pulled for copyright reasons, so best to find it ASAP.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | March 5, 2021 1:45 PM |
I love Mike Richards. Good looking, soothing voice, keeps the show moving. I wish they'd make him the permanent host.

Thanks r153. Watched Thursday's episode a little while ago. Glad to have seen it.
Liking Mike and more each episode. Will be sorry to see him go.
Who subbing next week? Katie Couric?
by Anonymous | reply 155 | March 5, 2021 11:27 PM |
TV Line is doing a poll about whether Mike Richards or Ken Jennings should be permanent host.
Right now, Mike is winning the poll 47.5% to Ken's 39.5%.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | March 5, 2021 11:30 PM |
I’m sorry but mike Richards ending the show every night with the kinder gentler bullshit is annoying. Yeah Alex was great but he’s dead so get over it and move on.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | March 5, 2021 11:33 PM |
I like both Ken and Mike. I'm starting to think the show itself is 99% fail safe as entertainment, and the host isn't a big factor in its success, but maybe one of the next subs will prove me very wrong...
by Anonymous | reply 158 | March 5, 2021 11:35 PM |
R157 Give it a little time... maybe the next guest host will stop the bit, and if/when Mike returns he'll not need to do it.

You'll change your tune when that quack Dr. Oz comes on to host at some point in time.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | March 6, 2021 12:41 AM |
Yeah, part of the job of being a good host is making it look effortless. I suspect some of these guest hosts were chosen to make Ken, and Mike, look good.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | March 6, 2021 2:06 AM |
Well, if they bring in Kris Jenner we'll know that's their sly game for sure.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | March 6, 2021 2:51 AM |
When Ken was hosting, I started to realize how important a good voice is: you sit there just listening to the host read off the clues for so much of the show. So yes, the host does count.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | March 6, 2021 3:22 AM |
I guessed Journey for Final. Was stunned I was correct.
I guess the lesson is Don't Stop Believin'.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | March 6, 2021 9:57 AM |
R157 Same with Ken and his thank you Alex. We get it. He is dead.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | March 6, 2021 10:13 AM |
Mike Richards is adorable...He should get the hosting gig. Who wants to look at ugly and annoying Ken Jennings?...
by Anonymous | reply 169 | March 6, 2021 10:13 AM |
I wanted to like Ken Jennings. He in theory should get it. He has “earned” it in a way.
But he is too soft spoken and has a weird way of speaking. Not an accent or an impediment, but a weird flow maybe. I can’t really always understand what the question is when he is asking it.
Mike all the way!

R152 Opus Secret Bunker on YouTube.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | March 6, 2021 10:16 AM |
I really think Mike Richards is the one but he produces so many other shows (including Wheel of Fortune), maybe he doesn't want the gig.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | March 6, 2021 10:21 AM |
R120 Think Bob Barker. Or Gene Rayburn. Or Tom Kennedy. Not to mention Art Fleming.
There is a standard Game Show Host Voice. And over the decades our ears have come to expect to hear that voice when we flip the set on. If we don't hear it, we're distracted: something seems off.
Mike has The Voice. Ken simply doesn't.
by Anonymous | reply 173 | March 6, 2021 10:33 AM |
Mike doesn't pronounce French words and phrases like Alex did, but who cares? There also seem to be far fewer Canadian topics now, which is excellent.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | March 6, 2021 1:35 PM |
Yeah, in French he missed the liaison between two words a few days ago and last night in Chinese he really mangled the e in chang'e. But he'll improve.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | March 6, 2021 1:56 PM |
Mike mentioned in passing a few games ago that he has a child with special needs.
Anyone know about this?
by Anonymous | reply 176 | March 6, 2021 2:19 PM |
I don’t think I can stomach two weeks of Katie Couric's cuteness.
"Let's do this thing!"
by Anonymous | reply 177 | March 8, 2021 11:49 PM |
“Awwww.”
Contestants aren’t puppies, Katie.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | March 8, 2021 11:56 PM |
Miss Couric is irksome.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | March 9, 2021 12:20 AM |
She has a pro voice - she was a news reader for years, right? And while the tone "cuts through" it's also a voice that sort of calls attention to itself, and so makes it harder to process the clue and answer quickly.
Also, they've stopped the "Alex would want a beautiful world" stuff at the end. That's good.
by Anonymous | reply 180 | March 9, 2021 2:29 AM |
That's the easiest FJ they've had in a while.

Was rooting for the cute scuba diver Matt. Too bad he bad wrong on his two Double Jeopardies. Otherwise, he'd be the winner.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | March 9, 2021 7:07 AM |
She has that irritating habit of adding an extra syllable for emphasis: "And the category ih-is . . ."
It's a wake-up in the morning voice. Not a throw your shoes off after work and watch TV voice.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | March 9, 2021 11:36 AM |
Maybe somebody could market a Katie Couric alarm clock: "Oh golly gee. Time to get up! Oh golly gee. Time to get up!"
by Anonymous | reply 185 | March 9, 2021 4:53 PM |
Bring back Mike.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | March 9, 2021 11:07 PM |
Katie has a very condescending tone toward the contestants
Yes! You got it right! If you’re on Jeopardy, you’re not a moron. Don’t act so surprised and congratulatory when they get correct what you think is a tough question.
by Anonymous | reply 187 | March 9, 2021 11:17 PM |
I wonder if all the guest hosts want the permanent gig.
I think she’s not so bad. Y’all just aren’t used to a female voice.

Note to Katie: Ease up on the smiling.
by Anonymous | reply 189 | March 10, 2021 12:01 AM |

Katie is fine. Best guest host so far.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | March 10, 2021 12:53 AM |
Katie is OK up to a point, but as R187 mentioned she's a bit too congratulatory when someone gets a relatively difficult question right. (I would've used the word patronizing instead of condescending in describing that.)
And another thing: perky goes a long way with me, and she's certainly bringing on the perk.

Katie's perkiness is getting to be too much. She needs to tone it down a bit.
by Anonymous | reply 201 | March 11, 2021 10:15 AM |

Guessing the answer based on how many Presidents visited there was a bit of a curve.
by Anonymous | reply 213 | March 13, 2021 4:24 PM |
I lived down the road from Antietam many years ago. Had no idea the origin of "Antietam," but guessed it based on the 50 miles part of the clue.
by Anonymous | reply 214 | March 13, 2021 4:36 PM |
I actually like her voice, I think it is well modulated and smooth. As a poster of thread noted, the voice is the most important aspect because that is what we hear for most of the 30 minutes. She must really rehearse, because she gets all of those difficult words and names pronounced correctly, I wonder if they do any post-show looping...?
by Anonymous | reply 215 | March 13, 2021 4:41 PM |
I guessed Shenandoah for the lose.

This one, although it's not exactly a Jeopardy thread, more of a footnote
by Anonymous | reply 219 | March 13, 2021 6:51 PM |
Does Jeopardy not have a wardrobe department?
What was this loose fitting pants and flowing blouse ensemble Katie was wearing on Friday's show?
Looked horrid on TV!
by Anonymous | reply 220 | March 13, 2021 10:20 PM |
Contestants bring their own clothes, so for decades the Jeopardy wardrobe department, if it exists at all, has had to dress only men.

by Anonymous | reply 229 | March 16, 2021 9:58 PM |
Tough questions right through to the FJ that stumped all the contestants (and me).
by Anonymous | reply 230 | March 17, 2021 4:42 AM |
Given the FJ category, would they have accepted Carrera?
by Anonymous | reply 231 | March 17, 2021 4:46 AM |
I think so, R231.
by Anonymous | reply 232 | March 17, 2021 4:49 AM |
I knew they were talking about marble, but couldn't remember the name of the city famous for all the marble.
by Anonymous | reply 233 | March 17, 2021 11:31 AM |
I don't think they would've accepted "Carrera" as a response because the question specifically said triple-A, and that answer would have only two.
by Anonymous | reply 234 | March 17, 2021 1:17 PM |
r231 I immediately thought of Carrera but couldn't figure out the "Triple A" in the clue. My ignorance... I don't think I would have gone ahead and written "Carrera"

The few times when spelling counted in Final Jeopardy, Alex would always say so. KC didn't say anything.
by Anonymous | reply 236 | March 17, 2021 3:25 PM |
Spelling counted in Final a few months ago when the correct answer was Berry Gordy and the contestant wrote Barry Gordy
by Anonymous | reply 237 | March 17, 2021 11:10 PM |
Not to be mean, but the contestant at the end had such a tiny head and a tiny voice for such a large body.
by Anonymous | reply 238 | March 18, 2021 1:47 AM |
Morgan gave Katie a run for her money, perkiness-wise. And she knew the killer FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 239 | March 18, 2021 3:16 AM |
Speaking of spelling, Morgan wrote Socalist and it was accepted without comment. I don't think that's consistent with the rules.
by Anonymous | reply 240 | March 18, 2021 6:00 AM |
FJ could not have been any easier.
Are the host's comments taped later and inserted in post production?

by Anonymous | reply 260 | March 23, 2021 5:11 AM |
Dr Oz was terrible. Who in their right mind believes that this lispy, snake oil salesman would make a good replacement host for Alex Trebek? Like, my God. Won't be watching again until he's gone.
by Anonymous | reply 261 | March 23, 2021 5:14 AM |
Yes he's got all those degrees, but there's something about his accent -- like "figger" for "figure" and "dolluh" for "dollar" when he doesn't catch himself first -- that sounds a bit uneducated and just doesn't fit on Jeopardy.
But he'd be fine doing Friday Night Fights.
by Anonymous | reply 262 | March 23, 2021 5:20 AM |
Oz was a bit rough around the edges. I agree with the above poster about his accent. He sounds like he's from Brooklyn.

I guess winter of our discontent for Final based on the dates of the strike. And I guessed right!
Dr. Oz wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but that's not saying a lot. He doesn't have any of the charm or personality of Mike Richards. Hell, he doesn't even have the personality of Ken Jennings.

R265 since he's not a disinformation quack, yes I'm looking forward to him
I don't care about Oz' accent or anything other than he's a disinformation quack who shouldn't be on tv anymore. He shouldn't even have a medical license at this point with the shit he's said on tv
by Anonymous | reply 268 | March 23, 2021 6:00 PM |
Watching Dr Oz for the first time - the show was replaced for March Madness the last week. He's not bad but he's as unimpressive as Couric. Let's just agree on Ken Jennings and get this over with this.
by Anonymous | reply 269 | March 23, 2021 11:20 PM |
I don’t think that Oz should be hosting because of his odd and controversial positions on health issues, but leaving that aside for the moment, he did an adequate job — but only adequate. His banter was “off,” and at times he came across as mean-spirited. Of the four guest hosts thus far, Oz is definitely at the bottom of the list. Ken Jennings is in the lead for me.
by Anonymous | reply 270 | March 24, 2021 12:23 AM |
So far, Oz isn't horrible as I was expecting. But given I had set such a low bar for him, that's not saying much.
But his talking with the contestants was really cold and emotionless.
I almost laughed at one point in particular when he told one contestant that his getting married was the best decision he ever made in life.
It was said in such a clipped and matter-of-fact manner, I thought, "Imagine having [bold]that[/bold] for a husband."
by Anonymous | reply 271 | March 24, 2021 12:58 AM |
This is all so high school.
Ken is the guy with the briefcase and all the answers you avoided.
Katie's the girl the guys didn't dare ask out because she was going with a college football player named Frank.
Mike's the guy on the baseball team you really wanted to be friends with but who didn't even know you existed.
Õz? Was he in our class? I don't remember him.

I knew the correct Final answer was 52 years. But I live in Los Angeles.

With Preston in MM, you can't discount the man's incredible sex appeal. Van Dyke had none, Bierko just a tad, and Leonard and McCormack basically zero too. We have to feel that Marian really wants to get between the sheets with this guy. Jackman will most likely bring back the heartthrob part of Hill.

Mike wants the job. He really wants it. And as executive producer he's a bit like Dick Cheney screening VP candidates and deciding that only Dick Cheney is up to the job.
Ken? He hasn't got the killer drive to be Jeopardy host. Unlike Mike, as a child he didn't want to grow up and be Bob Barker one day. Ken thinks 20 years as a game show emcee would be beneath his intellect.
Mike wins by default.

by Anonymous | reply 290 | March 26, 2021 11:57 PM |
The FJs have been very easy lately, and the contestants very weak.
Nutty Amal won twice, and he was terrible. He would buzz in and then wait until the last second to give his answer. Today’s threesome was one of the worst this year. Watch today’s winner get her ass kicked on Monday.

Who is hosting next week? I want all this guest hosting finished.
by Anonymous | reply 292 | March 27, 2021 12:58 AM |
R291 They're obviously scraping the barrel having exhausted all the "originally from" contestants in LA. Need to open up again and bring in contestants living elsewhere.

FJ was an easy one.
Cyndi's breasts were crying out for some support.

Oz should have said what novel and movie the FJ clue referred to.
by Anonymous | reply 299 | March 30, 2021 6:00 AM |
Yes, r299. Alex would have told us it was Mary Poppins the Final was referring to and likely also would have mentioned that a movie, Saving Mr. Banks, was made about it.
by Anonymous | reply 300 | March 30, 2021 10:37 AM |
I think Anderson Cooper is next guest host.

I thought Katie Couric was bad but Dr Oz is the worst. The final jeopardy question a few days ago had to do with Mary Poppins author Pamela Travers and the answers were Travers and Dr Oz said nothing about it being Pamela Travers about Mary Poppins. Alex would have explained it.
by Anonymous | reply 303 | March 31, 2021 12:31 AM |
Surprised that Host "I Am a Heart Surgeon" Oz let Willie alone pass.
by Anonymous | reply 304 | March 31, 2021 4:28 AM |
I like Bryce, and I am a doctor like Oz, but Oz did not recognize the woman who is beating him before the second part and instead praised Bryce, who is in the red. Oz is clearly favoring the med student.

Oz is better than Couric but he has a mush mouth and speaks too quickly
by Anonymous | reply 308 | April 1, 2021 12:14 AM |
So if I was rating them so far, I'd put Ken first, then Mike, then a tie with Oz and Katie. None of them were really bad, to be honest. Mike was the most "game-show hostish", but there's something a little too polished and fake about him. And that sign-off each night was just a little too much.
by Anonymous | reply 309 | April 1, 2021 12:50 AM |
They don't ❤️ NY???
by Anonymous | reply 310 | April 1, 2021 4:24 AM |
R309, Ken's nightly "And thank you, Alex" signoff was too much, as well.
by Anonymous | reply 311 | April 1, 2021 5:50 AM |
Katie was too warm and gushy, Oz too mechanical and cold. Still voting for Mike so far.
by Anonymous | reply 312 | April 1, 2021 12:13 PM |
R309 After 70 years, TV game show hosts have developed an expected style, and yes it is a bit polished and fake. Alex just toned it down over the years as he aged.
And Mike will too.

Two comments about middle contestant KT:
Did she seriously think a river in Virginia would flow to the St. Lawrence River?
I wouldn't have given her credit for the Eisenstein question because I clearly heard her say Battleship "Potumkin" and not "Potemkin."

Ken and Oz tied for second.
Then that public school teacher whatever her name was...
After Dr. Oz, the next person to host “Jeopardy!” is NFL star Aaron Rodgers. The Green Bay Packers quarterback will host from April 5-16, followed by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper from April 19-30 and “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker from May 3-14, according to the “Jeopardy!” website.

I love Jeopardy and watched it way back when it was hosted by Art Fleming and never cared for Alex Trebek until probably the last few years. The one thing that irked me about Trebek was he didn't seem to understand how the game was played when it came to final Jeopardy. He always seemed shocked that the contestant with the second highest total would bet it all while the one with the most money would bet enough to win. He did it at his first show and he did it at the end. I just never understood why. But I came to like him but I will not watch the show if Ken Jennings is the host. I have never liked him.

Don't feel bad R340. I guessed Phil Donahue. Donahue is the first person who comes to mind when I think of an iconic man in Daytime TV . Of course, I felt awfully silly when Mr. Rogers was revealed as the answer since that quote in the clue makes much more sense coming from Mr. Rogers than Phil Donahue, LOL.
On a different note, I'm sure this isn't a popular opinion, but I'm looking forward to Mayim Bialik :-)

Interesting article today (4/7/21) from Roger Friedman:
“Jeopardy” fans are rejecting the guest hosts.
After Katie Couric saw her ratings with the show tumble to 5.3 million, now Dr. Oz has topped her.
With Oz asking the questions the week of March 28th, “Jeopardy!” fell to 5.2 million viewers. Of course it didn’t help that fans protested his hosting gig and even circulated a petition.
All signs point to the return of Ken Jennings, who managed to keep the ratings at Alex Trebekian levels around 6 million. My guess is that after Aaron Rodgers finishes his stint, Jennings gets named permanent replacement with May sweeps. Why wait til September?
Among syndicated talk shows, “Live with Kelly and Ryan” stayed at number 1 with no change, “Dr. Phil” had a 6% drop in total viewers. Even “Judge Judy” had a 6% drop to 4.9 million. I guess everyone is tired of being inside and watching this stuff. Did they turn to reading classic novels? I doubt it.
by Anonymous | reply 379 | April 8, 2021 5:04 AM |
I just stumbled across this from yesterday. Several of the replies link to a change.org petition.

Does LeVar even have a guest stint scheduled?
by Anonymous | reply 383 | April 8, 2021 9:33 AM |
R379, It disappoints me to know that the Jeopardy! ratings are being affected by the various guest hosts. I should think it wouldn't matter to a longtime viewer and diehard fan of the game who the host is.
by Anonymous | reply 384 | April 8, 2021 11:46 AM |
I boycotted Oz’s two weeks.
I think Ken was helped by the novelty factor. A lot of people tuned in to see the first shows without Alex.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | April 8, 2021 4:07 PM |
It is the most ridiculous thing ever. Who gives a fuck who is reading clues off the monitor?
It was beyond absurd that deplorables were complaining about Couric and some more people about Cooper.
You are an idiot, R385.
by Anonymous | reply 386 | April 8, 2021 5:00 PM |
Aaron Rodgers is terrible hosting this. So dull and boring.
Either Ken Jennings or that executive producer that hosted for a day should get the job permanently.
by Anonymous | reply 387 | April 8, 2021 7:29 PM |
Ken is unfunny and smug (a "cultural trait" shared by many of his ilk, including Ann "It's OUR time" Romney).
Hope they pick the producer...or Levar Burton.
by Anonymous | reply 388 | April 8, 2021 9:41 PM |
Well at least the ratings for post-Alex shows haven't dropped more than a million. It would suck for jeopardy to be on the chopping block.
by Anonymous | reply 389 | April 8, 2021 9:45 PM |
NPR did an odd story this morning on Aaron's guest hosting, the thrust of which seemed to be to get Mike Richards to give LeVar Burton a chance.

I never really appreciated Pat Sajak until Vanna hosted while he had his heart attack. The ability to improvise and react on the spot is invaluable. Jeopardy is a totally different show than WOF, but watching Aaron this week brings back memories of Vanna's Wheel stint.
by Anonymous | reply 400 | April 9, 2021 12:40 AM |
Aaron is awful as hostess.
by Anonymous | reply 401 | April 9, 2021 12:43 AM |
Aaron’s problem is that his approach is so low-key that he sounds like he’s as if he is detached from what’s going on.
To be fair, none of them have done a great job in terms of the repartee, banter, and generally being at ease. It takes years of practice. If you go back to Trebek’s early years, the demeanor that he displayed over the last decade or so is something that he grew into. In December, following the end of his original shows and before the start of Ken’s appearance, they reran old shows with Trebek. It wasn’t all smooth sailing. But, as Alex gradually settled into a groove, so did the audience with his style. There’s almost no chance for anyone to drop in for two weeks and pick up all of that.
by Anonymous | reply 402 | April 9, 2021 1:09 AM |
He's doing great, better than Oz and Couric.
by Anonymous | reply 403 | April 9, 2021 1:46 AM |
Yep, the voice is key. AR reads the clues well, his calm manner is relaxing, gives you space to try to answer - but the timbre/tone is slo, low-key, not particularly pleasing....
I think Couric was the best (and I've not liked her in recent decades) - but she is so confident and direct and her voice has energy in it. Ken Jennings sounds like a boring social studies teacher. The producer was just thin in voice and impact.
by Anonymous | reply 404 | April 9, 2021 2:16 AM |

Today was a really good game. I got Carmen Miranda and Marian Anderson in the Women on Stamps category. It's weird how Marian Anderson is always a triple stumper on Jeopardy considering how groundbreaking she was as a black opera singer.
I got Buenos Aires right for FJ, but I incorrectly guessed Rio de Janeiro for the other city (I always forget that Rio is not the capital of Brazil). I never would have come up with Bogota and Lima for the other two capitals. I didn't realize those two cities are so populous.
by Anonymous | reply 407 | April 9, 2021 3:03 AM |
I must say that Ken does the best affable host banter. I was really ready to not like him. Unfortunately, he does not have the face for TV. His thin pointed look is off-putting, but I could live with him.
My primary choice would be Katie. She had the charm, cute wit and the intellect to pull it off.
by Anonymous | reply 408 | April 9, 2021 9:57 AM |
They were all good in their own way, but I think Ken is the best one. Katie was like a cheerleader, Aaron is low keyed and Oz was like a professor. Ken is the right balance.

by Anonymous | reply 413 | April 9, 2021 11:00 AM |
Aaron doesn't listen. When he 'chats' with the contestants, it's obvious he's being given written questions to ask and then doesn't listen to their answers. He's wonderful eye candy, though.
Sad that Brandon lost but maybe he and Aaron hooked up. Quite a consolation prize!!

by Anonymous | reply 416 | April 9, 2021 5:58 PM |
Aside from the monotonous voice, which I mentioned a number of days ago, there's the fact that he slicked himself up way too much, which has made him look bland.
Let me put it like this: He looks like someone from an old western film who shaved and fixed himself up to be presentable looking for his first date in years - only to look ill-fitting and out of character.

by Anonymous | reply 420 | April 9, 2021 8:48 PM |
R418 = Aaron Rodgers
Hi Aaron, nice of you to stop by DL!
by Anonymous | reply 421 | April 9, 2021 9:37 PM |
Is Aaron a gay?
by Anonymous | reply 422 | April 9, 2021 9:49 PM |
You might think so, R422, but I couldn’t possibly comment.
by Anonymous | reply 423 | April 9, 2021 9:54 PM |
R417 Yep, you got him pegged right: He's Festus in a suit.
by Anonymous | reply 424 | April 9, 2021 10:20 PM |
R424 OMG! Aaron and Festus could be twins!
by Anonymous | reply 425 | April 9, 2021 10:24 PM |
He doesn't have the voice for this.
by Anonymous | reply 426 | April 9, 2021 11:03 PM |
You can just tell that he is a jock and barely read. Doesn't sound natural.
by Anonymous | reply 427 | April 9, 2021 11:04 PM |
I'm not familiar with Aaron R427, but isn't he supposed to be a very smart guy?
by Anonymous | reply 428 | April 9, 2021 11:06 PM |
R428, yes, all football players are famous for their high IQs.
by Anonymous | reply 429 | April 9, 2021 11:09 PM |
How enlightened of you R428. Not all athletes are "dumb jocks", but continue limiting your worldview with your antiquated stereotypes.
by Anonymous | reply 430 | April 9, 2021 11:17 PM |
Well R427, you sound only semi-literate yourself, honey.
by Anonymous | reply 431 | April 9, 2021 11:17 PM |
I meant R429.
by Anonymous | reply 432 | April 9, 2021 11:18 PM |
When Dennis the gay daddy with superior posture said “Splurgeeeee,” it was creepy!
by Anonymous | reply 433 | April 9, 2021 11:50 PM |
Honestly, I think if he were given time, he would grow in to the role. I mean, we're talking a couple of years, not a couple of months. But I have a hunch he would be a lot of fun once he started to let his guard down a bit. Way different from the polished Alex Trebek, but a whole new type of fun, over-reaching jock that is able to laugh at himself.
by Anonymous | reply 434 | April 10, 2021 12:09 AM |
R430, which jock is in Mensa pray tell?
They are mostly dumb fucks who had others doing their homework for them. Jeremy Lin went to Harvard and even he said there were a lot of stupid jocks in the NBA but he said it in a nice manner.
by Anonymous | reply 435 | April 10, 2021 1:37 AM |
good lord r435, your reiteration of stereotypes certainly defines your depth of critical thinking
by Anonymous | reply 436 | April 10, 2021 1:40 AM |
He just needs to wander out in a pair of shoulder-guards and and his bike jock on his last show.
I’m starting to wonder if he has a tiny cock. One thing I’ve noticed is that there are very few pictures of him shirtless (because his chest and stomach look kind of doughy) so I wonder if his dick is small too since he likes to stay completely covered. You never see a bulge.
by Anonymous | reply 437 | April 10, 2021 1:53 AM |
R437, QB's are not known for their sculpted bodies, nor is one necessary for that position.
Tom Brady's college coach in Michigan is on record as saying Brady had one of the worst sports bodies he'd ever seen.
For a QB, it's his arm and his hands that count and if you've noticed, Aaron's hands are huge.
by Anonymous | reply 438 | April 10, 2021 6:42 AM |
R438 Olivia Munn said that one of her ex’s (and you knew who she was talking about by the little hints she was giving) was “the worst!” at having sex. So I wonder if that means his dick is tiny.
by Anonymous | reply 439 | April 10, 2021 7:44 AM |
Also, you never see a bulge in his uniform like you do with the other players.
by Anonymous | reply 440 | April 10, 2021 7:45 AM |
R439 - Maybe she just meant he didn't know what he was doing.
by Anonymous | reply 441 | April 10, 2021 10:22 AM |
R441 But he’s a red blooded heterosexual man, isn’t he? If so, shouldn’t he know what he’s doing?😏
by Anonymous | reply 442 | April 10, 2021 10:33 AM |
R439 Olivia said that, looking back, she should have done more moaning and faked it just to get it over with. Makes me think R441 could be correct; maybe Aaron didn't know what he was doing and she obviously wasn't helpful by sharing her needs with him.
by Anonymous | reply 443 | April 10, 2021 1:11 PM |
R441, I'd be more than happy to show him the ropes.
by Anonymous | reply 444 | April 10, 2021 1:22 PM |
^^And I mean 'the ropes.'
by Anonymous | reply 445 | April 10, 2021 1:30 PM |
I'm surprised that none of you mentioned Jennifer on Friday was a dead ringer for Olivia Munn. I wonder if Aaron had the same thought.
by Anonymous | reply 446 | April 11, 2021 11:22 PM |
^hmmm
by Anonymous | reply 448 | April 12, 2021 5:14 AM |
Why would they have sex in a bearding contract? That would be fucking your employee. It would also make her an actual whore not just playing the part of girlfriend.
by Anonymous | reply 449 | April 12, 2021 10:09 AM |
Bearding contract? You've seen this document, signed by Olivia and Aaron?
by Anonymous | reply 450 | April 12, 2021 12:41 PM |
Is that Idiot Aaron done? Or do we have another long week of him? I tuned out after the first day of him hosting.
by Anonymous | reply 451 | April 12, 2021 2:44 PM |
I'm hoping we're close to the end of the guest-hosting thing. Aaron is / was a bore.
by Anonymous | reply 452 | April 12, 2021 2:51 PM |
We’re in for another week with Aaron, then at least a couple months of additional guest hosts. I expect they’ll use guests for the rest of the season, then return in the fall with a new permanent host.
by Anonymous | reply 453 | April 12, 2021 3:15 PM |
He’s not an idiot. He’s a celebrity Jeopardy champion.
by Anonymous | reply 454 | April 12, 2021 4:44 PM |
I like Bill Whitaker on "60 Minutes". He will be very low key like Aaron, but they have Anderson, Savannah, and Mayim to satisfy viewers who want a little more zip.
by Anonymous | reply 456 | April 12, 2021 5:02 PM |
When they show reruns this summer, I wonder of they’ll just re-use the guest host episodes, or if they’ll show old Alex ones?
by Anonymous | reply 457 | April 12, 2021 5:08 PM |
He went to Berkeley and actually took classes and did well in them. As mentioned above, he won celebrity Jeopardy. He is not dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 458 | April 12, 2021 5:23 PM |
The ratings are dropping. Alex was the only one who could keep high ratings. I say give the job to hot Mike Richards, the EP.
by Anonymous | reply 459 | April 12, 2021 5:36 PM |
I'd be happy with Ken or Mike. Ken seems like he's a natural and will grow into the role as time goes on. He also has an impish quality that's somewhat endearing, Mormon upbringing aside.
by Anonymous | reply 460 | April 12, 2021 6:01 PM |
I wonder if the producers will respond to the growing online movement to give LeVar Burton a chance. I'm surprised he's not on the guest-hosting schedule.

I agree. I don’t like him.
by Anonymous | reply 462 | April 12, 2021 6:27 PM |
He’s not an idiot. He’s a celebrity Jeopardy champion.
Knowing random trivia doesn’t not necessarily make you intelligent. Think Cliff Clavin on Cheers.
He went to Berkeley and actually took classes and did well in them.
Have you seen his grades or are you just taking his word for it? And if he did so well, why didn’t he graduate?
by Anonymous | reply 463 | April 12, 2021 6:30 PM |
NO to Levar. Just no.
by Anonymous | reply 464 | April 12, 2021 6:39 PM |

I agree. It needs to be the Executive Producer or Ken.
by Anonymous | reply 465 | April 12, 2021 6:55 PM |
R463 I would have quit Berkeley, too, if I had been offered millions of dollars to do so...
by Anonymous | reply 466 | April 12, 2021 7:08 PM |
R466 But he claims he only had a few credits to go, so why didn’t he just take some online classes during the off season if that was the case? Kind of stupid to have went to school all that time only to not graduate when you supposedly only needed a few credits - if that was the truth.
by Anonymous | reply 467 | April 12, 2021 7:49 PM |
"I completed all my Ph.D requirements, just never quite wrapped up the thesis."
by Anonymous | reply 468 | April 12, 2021 8:19 PM |
R467 Guess he knew he would never need the college degree to make $100 million plus. I loved Berkeley and would have stayed a few years more to study areas of interest to me, but alas I had to graduate and make a living.
by Anonymous | reply 469 | April 12, 2021 8:38 PM |
So why would he want to spend 20 years as Alex's follow-up? He's doing this for fun now and because he's a bit of a ham.
Mike is the only one so far who really really wants the job.
by Anonymous | reply 470 | April 12, 2021 9:22 PM |
I liked Mike the best of the non-celebrities. Game show personality, but not too showy and very easy on the eyes. Something about Ken just didn’t grab me, but I could grow to like him. I’ve not gotten the impression that any of these celebrities are trying out for the job.
by Anonymous | reply 471 | April 12, 2021 9:33 PM |
Aaron has said he would love to do the job permanently.
by Anonymous | reply 472 | April 12, 2021 9:48 PM |
So why would he want to spend 20 years as Alex's follow-up? He's doing this for fun now and because he's a bit of a ham.
Bullshit. He’s 37 years old, he will most likely never win another Super Bowl, and his football career is winding down. He’s desperate for the job. Unfortunately he has no chance. He sucks.
by Anonymous | reply 473 | April 12, 2021 10:23 PM |
Aaron is not desperate for anything. He is worth over $100 million and can do whatever he wants. Maybe he will go back to Berkeley and finish his degree. The world is his oyster.
by Anonymous | reply 474 | April 12, 2021 10:28 PM |
As long as Aaron stays far away from Jeopardy. Far far away.

Aaron will be Joe Namath in ten years, doing Medicare commercials.
by Anonymous | reply 486 | April 13, 2021 3:54 AM |
I really don't care for Jeopardy without Alex. This program will have to find a new audience and/or format. So far I haven't seen a guest host I could imagine watching every night. Personally, I believe the show will wither and die. Jeopardy now seems kind of stupid when I watch it.
by Anonymous | reply 487 | April 13, 2021 4:18 AM |
Team Mike. Aaron is eye candy, but Mike is the whole package.

I agree. It’s just not the same. It’s like they’re making a joke of it now with all these stupid celebrity guest hosts.
by Anonymous | reply 489 | April 13, 2021 6:03 AM |
The last thing Alex would have wanted was for the franchise to end.
by Anonymous | reply 490 | April 13, 2021 7:13 AM |
Aaron was far better on Monday's episode than on any of the ones last week.
That said, Mike is still my favorite of the guest hosts so far.

I may be falling in love with Aaron.
by Anonymous | reply 492 | April 13, 2021 11:37 PM |
Back off. R492, I saw him first.

FJ was so obvious tonight.
How could two of them get it wrong?
by Anonymous | reply 494 | April 14, 2021 12:48 AM |
Why was it so obvious? Both Orion and Sagittarius have weapons.
by Anonymous | reply 495 | April 14, 2021 4:12 AM |
I guessed Sag too.
by Anonymous | reply 496 | April 14, 2021 4:24 AM |
R495, I said "Orion" aloud before Aaron even finished speaking.
by Anonymous | reply 497 | April 14, 2021 6:57 AM |
Any FJ is obvious to one who knows the answer. In this case, the vital clue was “weapon,” and there are two famous constellations with weapons.
by Anonymous | reply 498 | April 14, 2021 7:16 AM |
Aaron Rodgers is the best host. He knows how to throw in info on the answer smoothly. I would pick him for the host if he was to quit football with Mike Richards "behind him".
by Anonymous | reply 499 | April 14, 2021 11:43 PM |
Another dead giveaway FJ.
How could it not have been Hamlet?
by Anonymous | reply 500 | April 15, 2021 9:21 AM |
Aaron is improving daily as host. Wednesday's show was by far his best as host. Seemed much more relaxed and in control.
That said, I have no desire to see him as the permanent host. Mike Richards still has my vote, following by Ken.
by Anonymous | reply 501 | April 15, 2021 9:57 AM |
I think the show is dying or dead. I don't like it and seldom watch a show from beginning to end
by Anonymous | reply 502 | April 15, 2021 5:25 PM |
This current host reminds me of Lurch from the Addams family.s
by Anonymous | reply 503 | April 15, 2021 5:29 PM |
His voice is relaxing.
by Anonymous | reply 504 | April 15, 2021 5:31 PM |
I guessed Orion right away but then thought it was too easy. I didn’t even know about Sagittarius.
He is relaxing and easing into the role. I like him fine, but I prefer the producer guy.
by Anonymous | reply 505 | April 16, 2021 1:11 AM |
We seem to agree on either Mike or Ken with a few Aaron sprinkled in. Looking forward to a poll on this in a couple weeks. Does anyone know when these 'auditions' will end?
by Anonymous | reply 506 | April 16, 2021 2:38 AM |
Patrick's cute! I mean, real cute.
by Anonymous | reply 507 | April 16, 2021 6:26 AM |
Buzzy's hosting this year's Tournament of Champions!
by Anonymous | reply 508 | April 16, 2021 7:57 AM |
Aaron seems to be getting more comfortable in the role as guest host each day.
by Anonymous | reply 509 | April 16, 2021 10:23 AM |
R509 Agreed.... through this week he's seemed comfortable, spontaneous, not as flat. He almost seemed Alex-like a couple times...
by Anonymous | reply 510 | April 16, 2021 4:38 PM |
Team Aaron for the win!
by Anonymous | reply 511 | April 16, 2021 5:12 PM |
I wish there was a way for Will Ferrell to do an episode as a tribute to Alex. He did a great Alex impression but I suspect there would be backlash that it would be disrespectful to Alex. In reality, it would be a great tribute.
by Anonymous | reply 512 | April 16, 2021 5:25 PM |
I struck out with Brigham Young too. It felt like a set-up!
by Anonymous | reply 513 | April 17, 2021 3:46 AM |
I was prepared to dislike Aaron, but he really grew on me. Lol that his last FJ question was about Leland Stanford (which I knew!) and he got to make one last Cal usually beats Stanford dig.
Anderson Cooper starts next week, I'm sure he'll do great, but he's not interested in the job, I assume.
by Anonymous | reply 514 | April 17, 2021 6:17 AM |
I’m not sure many of these guest hosts are interested in the job.
by Anonymous | reply 515 | April 17, 2021 7:19 AM |
R515, They're mainly there to raise money for their charities.
by Anonymous | reply 516 | April 17, 2021 11:25 AM |
I guessed Stanford for Final purely because it was a university in the West named after an individual. Was stunned I was right.

Next up, two weeks with the giggling albino.
by Anonymous | reply 518 | April 17, 2021 1:14 PM |
Who is the albino? I dislike the two week trials, it's distracting. Miss Couric and Dr. Oz were terrible guest hosts.
by Anonymous | reply 519 | April 17, 2021 1:27 PM |
From today's New York Post . . .
"Joe Buck will be a guest host on “Jeopardy!” putting him in contention for the coveted permanent job, The Post has learned.
Buck’s episodes are expected to air at some point in the mid-summer, according to sources. Guest hosts have done one- or two-week stints. No word yet on how long Buck will be on."
by Anonymous | reply 520 | April 17, 2021 2:48 PM |
Anyone else giggle when they saw Aaron would be dealing with a "hole" category?
Albino = Anderson Cooper, R519
by Anonymous | reply 521 | April 17, 2021 2:55 PM |
I’ve come to the conclusion that this never-ending parade of guest hosts was a mistake. The producers should have just selected a permanent host in January.
by Anonymous | reply 522 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
Leland Stanford Junior - Railroad man. Easy FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 523 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
Gotta admit, Anderson Cooper did a danged good job on Jeopardy today. If anything, he almost speaks too fast, but maybe because I'm comparing him to the the other guest hosts.
by Anonymous | reply 524 | April 20, 2021 1:07 AM |
R524, Anderson is much too chatty, no need to offer a comment after every contestant's response.
Sorry Patrick lost, the new champ is annoying as hell.
by Anonymous | reply 525 | April 20, 2021 1:14 AM |
^^ I agree. Much as I like Anderson he was too chatty. The host is suppose to elevate the contestants, not try to be cute... which he is, already.
by Anonymous | reply 526 | April 20, 2021 1:17 AM |
I felt he struck pretty much the right balance of being chatty. In a way, a bit easier to take than Aaron's dry delivery. New champ seems like another spectrum guy, perhaps? Was sorry to learn of outgoing champ's wife.
by Anonymous | reply 527 | April 20, 2021 1:25 AM |
Thought the new champ was less on the spectrum and more totally a showboater and altogether too pleased with himself. And he's an "actor."
by Anonymous | reply 528 | April 20, 2021 1:57 AM |
Spot on R528 - one annoying fellow.
by Anonymous | reply 529 | April 20, 2021 2:01 AM |
Yeah, the current champ is as annoying as hell. You could see how very pleased he was with himself after every correct answer.
I thought Anderson did a great job. He seemed quite at ease. I too thought that he struck the right balance between chatty and silent.
by Anonymous | reply 530 | April 20, 2021 2:26 AM |
Cooper had a natural rapport with the contestants and made me laugh when he snuck in a "Darth Vorreyer" joke. He sure has a faster pace than Rodgers did. I didn't think Mike was smug, just focused and overwhelmed that he won. Good game, but I totally blanked on FJ...
by Anonymous | reply 531 | April 20, 2021 3:03 AM |
Cooper was the best so far... not even close. He won't want it, of course.
by Anonymous | reply 532 | April 20, 2021 3:07 AM |
Joe Buck. That dum shit. I would rather have Dr.Oz back.
by Anonymous | reply 533 | April 20, 2021 3:07 AM |
Anderson was fabulous. He was so good.
Completely at ease.
I guessed FJ correctly.
by Anonymous | reply 534 | April 20, 2021 3:17 AM |
Yeah I think Anderson Cooper would be a really good replacement.
by Anonymous | reply 535 | April 20, 2021 3:21 AM |
Was it me or was there a delay between the answers and the next questions? At least on the broadcast I saw, something glitchy. The new champion and the lady contestant both got on my nerves, hard to root for either of them. Anderson was good host I thought too.
by Anonymous | reply 536 | April 20, 2021 3:39 AM |
There did seem to be delays, even with previous guest hosts.
The shows now appear to be stopped and resumed at various points, probably due to decisions from the judges.
Plus, the guest hosts' reaction shots are inserted later into the broadcast that is aired.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | April 20, 2021 6:11 AM |
Anderson was very good. I could live with him as permanent host. But Mike Richards still gets my vote.
I guessed The Scream for Final, but I knew it was wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 538 | April 20, 2021 9:51 AM |

Anderson hosted two CNN Jeopardy shows. Great fun with contestants Jake Tapper, John Berman, Briana Kellar, etc. It was fun, Anderson was a great host. Berman and Tapper were the smartest and would up competing in the second show. Great fun. Sorry, I can't find a link on CNN.

What a dreadful episode. The tutor was an idiot (and didn’t make it to FJ). Ellen was marginally better. But they still managed to get a lot of incorrect answers.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | April 21, 2021 11:56 PM |
Max was cute. And I got FJ!
by Anonymous | reply 559 | April 22, 2021 12:03 AM |
I preferred the annoying champ to Max!
by Anonymous | reply 560 | April 22, 2021 12:23 AM |
I hope they have better players tomorrow. Tonight was torture.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | April 22, 2021 1:06 AM |
MisterCocoa!
You are back! We missed you! It's been almost a year since you last posted on a Jeopardy thread!
Glad to have you posting again.

Looks like a whole season of Guest Hosts.
An online schedule says Burton will host the show on dates airing July 26 to July 30.
by Anonymous | reply 563 | April 22, 2021 2:45 AM |
Zzzzzzzzz.
by Anonymous | reply 564 | April 22, 2021 3:04 AM |
Thanks, R562! I can handle DL as long as I vow to stay away from anything political as much as possible. Jeopardy and What are we reading? threads have been my favorites since joining here.
On an OT note, when WOF casting does college kids, is there some sort of idea that the males must be (obviously) gay?
by Anonymous | reply 565 | April 22, 2021 3:47 PM |
Anderson is a natural. It was like he's been doing it for several months already. If he wanted it, he'd probably get the job.
by Anonymous | reply 566 | April 22, 2021 4:20 PM |
^ You know what? Cooper is better than Alex. (Let the abuse begin...)
by Anonymous | reply 567 | April 22, 2021 4:22 PM |
Anderson did a great job hosting CNN Jeopardy years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | April 22, 2021 6:17 PM |
It’s that friendship with Andy Cohen that’s ruined Anderson for a lot of us.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | April 22, 2021 8:37 PM |
R569 Also, his arrogance and the fact that he wants to be taken seriously as a journalist/reporter/newsman whatever the term and yet he hosts the old Dick Clark New Year's Eve shitfest.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | April 22, 2021 8:41 PM |
R570, With Andy! Their antics undermine what Anderson does the rest of the year.
by Anonymous | reply 571 | April 22, 2021 8:45 PM |
I'm done with Jeopardy. None of these guest hosts fill Alex's ballsack. There are pleny other trivia game shows to watch. This is so sad - I realize now I was a huge Alex fan not a Jeopardy fan.
by Anonymous | reply 572 | April 22, 2021 11:44 PM |
Yay! Mike is gone.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | April 22, 2021 11:56 PM |
I'm glad he's gone as well.
Gotta disagree that the show should end after Alex.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | April 22, 2021 11:58 PM |
Yeah, I liked Alex well enough as the years went by, and I thought that he did a great job. But, I don’t buy into the notion that he’s somehow irreplaceable. He’s not.
by Anonymous | reply 575 | April 23, 2021 12:23 AM |
Such an improvement over Wednesday's game.
Love the new champ's Boston accent.
by Anonymous | reply 576 | April 23, 2021 12:43 AM |
Words cannot describe how much I hate the two male contestants today. The winner’s accent is hideous.
I loved Monica.
by Anonymous | reply 577 | April 23, 2021 1:46 AM |
I already hate Levar for ramping up a publicity campaign before he even hosts
by Anonymous | reply 578 | April 23, 2021 1:47 AM |
Alex was peachy.... but he wasn't the first host either. The show will continue just fine....
by Anonymous | reply 579 | April 23, 2021 2:27 AM |
Hideous accent???
by Anonymous | reply 580 | April 23, 2021 2:53 AM |
I'd like to see Tom Bergeron or Craig Ferguson guest-host. They're quick-witted and charming.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | April 23, 2021 9:22 AM |
Why do we need a comedian? Alex was hardly a laugh machine.
by Anonymous | reply 582 | April 23, 2021 1:05 PM |
Kelly Donahue, does it get more Irish than that?
by Anonymous | reply 583 | April 23, 2021 1:44 PM |
Dumbest Final Jeopardy betting ever today. Player 2 has exactly half of the leader’s total. The leader will clearly bet $1 and no more ( possibly $0 if he’s stupid or gutsy.) Dumbass player 2 bets only $3,001 and gets the answer correct. Player 1 gets it wrong and bid exactly $1, but easily wins because player 2 is an idiot.
The level of intelligence and worthiness for this show has cratered.
And don’t even get me started on the absolute dumbest player ever on Wednesday.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | April 23, 2021 10:56 PM |
R584 here. The moron from Wednesday made Mama Harper look like a damned Rhodes Scholar.
“That is correct, Alex.”
by Anonymous | reply 585 | April 23, 2021 11:02 PM |
The betting made no sense to me either!
WOF OT... "jingle bed"???
by Anonymous | reply 586 | April 24, 2021 12:18 AM |
Where's Jeopardy #22?
by Anonymous | reply 587 | April 24, 2021 2:49 AM |
R587 This thread is dying just like Jeopardy is dying with the guest hosting nonsense. The producers needed to name a replacement after a couple weeks of the initial cutesy celebrity hosts. Jeopardy is losing fans just like this thread is losing followers.
by Anonymous | reply 588 | April 24, 2021 2:30 PM |
I don't think this thread is dying.
Posting perks up around here when a really hot or a thoroughly obnoxious guest shows up and stays for a while.
There have been times when Alex was alive when the Jeopardy threads were quiet for days and even longer.
It's the nature of these threads to ebb and flow.
by Anonymous | reply 589 | April 24, 2021 3:11 PM |
Am I the only one who was fascinated by contestant Dan's ears?
Kelly response to Anderson "What is Uranus?" was classic.
by Anonymous | reply 590 | April 24, 2021 3:27 PM |
Don't like the rotation of guest hosts either.
by Anonymous | reply 591 | April 24, 2021 3:36 PM |
I'm not wild about it either, but can live with it until a new host starts in September.
The soldier wuz hawt, BTW.
by Anonymous | reply 592 | April 24, 2021 4:17 PM |
My husband is meh when it comes to Anderson Cooper. He wasn't looking forward to his hosting, but after the first show, he looked at me all confused and said Anderson was "really good." We've been enjoying the show a lot more this past week. I obviously have no life, but I'm kind of invested in Anderson and what he thinks about each contestant and how he interacts with them.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | April 24, 2021 4:24 PM |
I never was a Cooper fan. But I think he's been great... completely comfortable, engaged, personable, but not needy and self-referential. He's been as good as Alex. Unfortunately, he'll have no interest in doing this permanently.
by Anonymous | reply 594 | April 24, 2021 4:34 PM |
R594, With a year old baby and the expressed possibility of having another, Anderson is not going to want to spend that much time away from NYC.
by Anonymous | reply 595 | April 24, 2021 5:21 PM |
Couldn't the show move easily to NYC? As for Cooper, part of his longtime career has been to interview people. Of course he's comfortable.
The. constant phrase "We were looking for . . ." bugs the hell out of me. Did Alex say that often?
by Anonymous | reply 596 | April 24, 2021 7:05 PM |
Couldn't the show move easily to NYC?
The original Jeopardy! series was taped in Studio 6A at NBC Studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | April 25, 2021 6:10 AM |
Cooper was good but I think Aaron Rodgers is the best so far.
by Anonymous | reply 598 | April 26, 2021 12:25 AM |
Ken was the best, followed by Mike.
by Anonymous | reply 599 | April 26, 2021 3:54 PM |
LeVar brought his campaign to "The View" this morning.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
