Siskel & Ebert : Worst of 1994

Let’s revisit some forgotten, obscure pop culture. Have any of you eldergays seen these movies?

I’m amazed at how many westerns were still being made well into the 90s.

I thought I would die of second hand embarrassment when I saw clips of Chevy Chase’s talk show on YouTube. He seems just as cringey in Cops and Robbersons. No wonder his career went to shit.

The Steven Seagal environmentalist rant and Sissy Spacek vehicle both look so bad they’re good.

The Kevin Costner Easter Island movie looks kind of intriguing. I think critics are always unfairly hard on Kevin Costner.

R1 looks like Roger Ebert liked that one. Why didn’t you?

Because it was a piece of shit. Ebert also loved The Doors, and Mr. 3000 with Bernie Mac.

After seeing Rosie in domme gear, no one could forget Exit to Eden.

Cops and Robbersons is horrible but a favorite of mine. I could watch Dianne Wiest put up wallpaper though.

That's pretty much all she did in Cops & Robbersons.

“Clifford” is one of my guilty-pleasure movies.

Thank you! I forgot to mention that! It’s funny, I don’t remember Rosie being so svelte. But yeah, it’s crazy to think that Rosie as a sex symbol is something that Hollywood tried to make happen.

I liked Milk Money. Ed Harris was a hot daddy.

The only one of these movies I have actually seen is North -- it seemed to play on HBO constantly in the 90s. I think HBO was just a dumping ground for movies that failed at the box office. I didn't realize it was a bad movie because I was just a kid, and when you're a kid you're less sensitive to bad movies. Watching the clips, it is shockingly un-PC for the 90s, and casting Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jason Alexander as a married couple at the height of Seinfeld's success seems like a strange decision. I guess this is when the Seinfeld cast was still cursed before Julia Louis-Dreyfus broke the curse with her Emmy Award winning roles on The New Adventures of Old Christine and Veep.

I liked Exit to Eden. I was also 10 years old when I saw it.

I saw City Slickers (this one or the first). It was terrible. Fun fact: because their names were inverted on a movie poster, I believed for a long time that Billy Crystal's name was Meg Ryan.
