That bitch made 4 years last foreverrrrr.

by Anonymousreply 2November 7, 2020 7:56 PM

It feels much much longer than four years r2

by Anonymousreply 3November 7, 2020 7:57 PM

I'm so happy I won't have that orange orangutang on my television any more!

by Anonymousreply 4November 7, 2020 8:00 PM

Let the leaking begin. All the little cowards who've been holding back because he might just eke out a victory, spill now, spill loud, spill proud (well, not too proud, you still kinda suck) but SPILL BITCHES.

by Anonymousreply 7November 7, 2020 8:01 PM

Fuck it, I have tears of joy right now.

by Anonymousreply 8November 7, 2020 8:02 PM

I honestly don't think he'll be alive much longer.

He's defeated in more ways than one.

by Anonymousreply 9November 7, 2020 8:02 PM

Really worried to hear machine gun fire in the party crowd soon, like in Vegas.

by Anonymousreply 10November 7, 2020 8:03 PM

r8 I keep watching videos of the celebrations on Twitter and I tear up each time

MARY!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 11November 7, 2020 8:03 PM

And also.. what about covid? People aren’t thinking straight screaming chanting hugging and kissing in such crowded conditions.

by Anonymousreply 12November 7, 2020 8:04 PM

It feels free. It hasn't felt like freedom in four years. It feels like freedom.

by Anonymousreply 13November 7, 2020 8:04 PM

People need to be vigilant about Trump’s paramilitary supporters. I feel like everyone forgot about that threat.

by Anonymousreply 14November 7, 2020 8:05 PM

we haven't r14, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend they do their shit right now. They might not survive those encounters right now. There is joy, but there is definitely an undertone of revenge. Wingnuts and Trumpistas and QAnon cunts might just want to sit this out for a few weeks.

by Anonymousreply 15November 7, 2020 8:06 PM

tRump sued Bill Maher in 2013 for saying he is the product of his mother having sex with an orangutan.

These were Bill's parting words last night:

“Let’s be gracious in victory. I just want to say Mr. Trump — if you’re watching — as you do sometimes accidentally, you may have lost the election but there’s one thing that you will always have, and that’s the knowledge that your father never loved you and your mother had sex with an ape.”

by Anonymousreply 16November 7, 2020 8:09 PM

Thanks r15! I totally forgot that they’d listen to your recommended timeframe on when to unleash their shit. Pheww.

Bless you.

by Anonymousreply 25November 7, 2020 8:20 PM

but do they really r23? Would he lose one Cult member if he had a rally at a sex shop in full leather gear and holding a dildo?

by Anonymousreply 26November 7, 2020 8:21 PM

Just think: after four years of one treachery after another, despairing the state of this country & how it was led by a cruel, stupid racist asshole, DL can finally take a deep breath and relax. And kudso to all those people out there who kept their head & didn't lose faith over the course of this long & painful week.

I am usually not patriotic and I see the danger in patriotism. But I admit, today, I am fucking proud to be an American.

Our system is very far from perfect. And yet, this time, it worked. Collectively, we rejected an orange fascist. We voted his ass out of office. We said, "Racism and bigotry and sexism and homophobia and xenophobia have no place in our highest office." We said, "Begone, like George III before you."

It worked.

by Anonymousreply 139November 7, 2020 10:00 PM

Andrew Yang gave an interview somewhere (it's been months and it popped up in my recommended vids) where he make some very good points about how we can't expect middle American to code itself or STEM itself back to prosperity and how we cannot expect these people to be able to pick up and move to the coasts for work. He made good points about property values, lower wages, elder care, rental markets etc Leaving politics of those States aside he's the only one I have heard be totally honest about the situation rather than pretend that coding lessons and free community college will somehow conjure jobs in those areas or set these folks up to move to SF with the capital to start out there. So yes I believe he is a useful voice for our party and worth listening to but not a good candidate for the presidency.

by Anonymousreply 140November 7, 2020 10:00 PM

R121 I actually think some element of that is good, as long as we don’t embrace the right/crazy part (which he certainly doesn’t). Direct relief to people is a lot more efficient then expanding govt programs in many instances.

I would think the last thing he'd want is to pardon someone who could potentially testify against him (like Flynn) and he's already handed out pardons to war criminals & that asshole sheriff in AZ.

by Anonymousreply 240November 7, 2020 11:44 PM

Enjoy today, be happy and celebrate. Tomorrow go back to remembering we still have a fight as important as getting Trump out of office to go through. We have to get the two Senate candidates from Georgia elected and get the Senate in the hands of Democrats. There will be a runoff on January 5th and if the Republicans keep the Senate we can forget about anything getting better for the most part. Lindsay Graham is currently trying to help Trump prove he won and Biden didn't and Moscow Mitch has vowed to not allow Biden to get anything done or even to pick cabinet members he wants. If Biden doesn't pick the most Conservative Blue Dog "Democrats" to his cabinet McConnell will never let them pass.

If you live in GA vote on January 5th for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. Your vote on that day is as important as your vote for Biden. Get your friends, neighbors and family to vote for these two Democrats in the Senate runoff. If you live in GA or don't please donate to their campaign as much as you can, a dollar or two if that is all you can afford. Volunteer with their campaigns to make phone calls or in any way you can help.

We won a very big battle. We did not win the war yet. As long as McConnell and the Republicans rule the Senate we are in big trouble. Biden will spend 4 years being a lame duck, as Obama was the last 6 years of his presidency. Think about it. The only thing Obama was ever able to get done was the ACA because he got that done when both the Congress and Senate were in the hands of Democrats and many of them not Progressive which is why so much about the ACA sucked and there was no public option.

January 5, 2021 remember that date! It's as important as November 3rd was.

by Anonymousreply 241November 7, 2020 11:44 PM

R237 That's nice of them, I wasn't sure how much freedom POTUS or VPOTUS to go about and do normal person things like job or go to a movie or have a date night or go home to California for the weekend. Celebrations tonight in London and Paris. The mayor of Paris tweeted, "Welcome back, America!"

by Anonymousreply 271November 8, 2020 12:03 AM

On Saturday morning, shortly before the AP and other news outlets called the election for Joe Biden, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to announce that his lawyers would be holding a “big press conference” in Philadelphia. But there seems to have been some major confusion about where it would be held. First Trump tweeted it would take place at the “Four Seasons, Philadelphia.” Trump later corrected himself and said that the news conference was going to be held at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping. And the Four Seasons Hotel sent out its own tweet, making sure everyone knew that the news conference would not be held there but rather at the landscaping business that has “no relation with the hotel.” When journalists arrived at the site of the news conference, they were flabbergasted by the scene and many quickly speculated that someone in the Trump campaign made a serious mistake. After all, the parking lot of a landscaping business in the outskirts of the city in an industrial part of town was a drab backdrop for a news conference by a president who wanted to convince Americans he still had a chance of winning. And making matters even stranger, the landscaping business was between an adult bookstore and a cremation center. The location led to lots of mockery online, and many people were very happy with the scene that was ripe for mockery, and some saw as a poignant metaphor of the failure of the Trump campaign.

by Anonymousreply 291November 8, 2020 12:19 AM

I never toot my own horn but all my life I have just known stuff that was going to happen. I predicted Trump would be impeached before he was even sworn in. Somewhere in the archives here when Biden had lost the primaries and Bernie was on top, I called Biden AND Harris when he was thought be out. I wish I had saved the page but it was just another day for me. Today I got the texts from friends who said I was right all along. But then I predicted Madonna would be Evita twelve years before the movie was made.

by Anonymousreply 292November 8, 2020 12:19 AM

R274, I know exactly how you feel. My dad died during the Obama administration. He was really involved in politics his whole life and followed the news daily.

The day Trump was elected, I even said to someone, thank God he didn’t live to see this. It would have made him extremely anxious and frightened. And everything after that would have made his life just constant misery. There were a lot of veterans in the family that fought fascism in WWII. It would have killed him to see Americans supporting fascism. He wouldn’t have believed it.

by Anonymousreply 293November 8, 2020 12:20 AM

Jake Tapper must be gay, he made an allusion to Trump not winning an ice skating competition and being angry and a sore loser. Only a gay may would choose ice skating over an actual sport to explain his metaphor.

by Anonymousreply 296November 8, 2020 12:21 AM

Its too bad we can't impeach Orange again before his term is even up.

by Anonymousreply 297November 8, 2020 12:22 AM

God, also thinking about how nice it will have someone as president who actually deserves all the trappings of the office: the motorcade, Air Force One, etc.

R296 there was deliberate shade in the ice skating reference.

I mean, white was the color of the suffragettes, which is why Hillary wore it. But yes, I think that's likely why she chose it.

by Anonymousreply 320November 8, 2020 12:32 AM

She will be EXCELLENT!!!

by Anonymousreply 323November 8, 2020 12:32 AM

R311, it’s the color women suffragettes wore when they marched to get the vote for women. It’s become a tradition for women who get new offices to wear white to honor suffragettes, because they wouldn’t be there without them.

It’s a tribute to the journey women have taken to achieve this.

by Anonymousreply 458November 8, 2020 1:00 AM

We won't ever have to wonder when he will finally pivot to being presidential.

by Anonymousreply 459November 8, 2020 1:00 AM

Hiow are they doing that with the images in the sky?

by Anonymousreply 460November 8, 2020 1:01 AM

Fox News: BIDEN MASKLESS!!!!!!!!! HYPROCRITE!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 461November 8, 2020 1:01 AM

Hall and Oates, nice shout out to Pennsylvania and Philadelphia!

by Anonymousreply 462November 8, 2020 1:01 AM

Not even American but shamelessly bawling my eyes out anyway.

by Anonymousreply 463November 8, 2020 1:01 AM

R454 Yeah they both jumped.

Philly natives Hall & Oates! Go Philly,

by Anonymousreply 465November 8, 2020 1:02 AM

[quote]Hiow are they doing that with the images in the sky?

Probably drones.

by Anonymousreply 466November 8, 2020 1:02 AM

Biden is holding his newest grandchild; Hunter's son with his new wife.

by Anonymousreply 467November 8, 2020 1:02 AM

[quote]Hiow are they doing that with the images in the sky?

Gotta be drones.

by Anonymousreply 468November 8, 2020 1:02 AM

Jill and Hunter both started, too. I thought Kamala’s husband looked uncharacteristically tense and alerted when they first came out together.

by Anonymousreply 469November 8, 2020 1:02 AM

I love these song choices. I'm rockin' out on my couch right now.

by Anonymousreply 470November 8, 2020 1:02 AM

Where's Chachi?

by Anonymousreply 471November 8, 2020 1:03 AM

Okay, we are seeing cranes in the background. Some kind of display device.

by Anonymousreply 472November 8, 2020 1:03 AM

Yes, the light display is from drones. I heard that on news this morning.

by Anonymousreply 473November 8, 2020 1:03 AM

Goddamn it I'm happy!!!

by Anonymousreply 474November 8, 2020 1:03 AM

It’s nice to see all the little kids. The Bidens are a close family. Probably the Harrises too.

Do you realize we’ve never seen a Trump grandchild since Inauguration Day? They probably keep them in a closet when they’re not using them.

by Anonymousreply 475November 8, 2020 1:03 AM

This is so awesome!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 476November 8, 2020 1:04 AM

Dammit started crying after seeing "46" in the air.

by Anonymousreply 477November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

R471 Back in the basement with other Hollywood f-listers.

by Anonymousreply 478November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

Biden is every inch a President.

by Anonymousreply 479November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

But “grim demonization” is what I’m all about!

by Anonymousreply 480November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

Wow. I'd forgotten what it's like to feel inspired by a president. The man exudes compassion and empathy. The exact opposite of Trump. We are truly purging a parasite.

by Anonymousreply 481November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

I’m so freaking happy!

by Anonymousreply 482November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

I liked Joe's speech and message. He clearly wanted to deliver it with great energy and commitment. I kept having to turn down the volume as to my ear he seemed to shout the entire thing.

by Anonymousreply 483November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

I thought Kamala’s husband looked uncharacteristically tense and alerted when they first came out together.

I though that too - I can't imagine the death threats they're getting

by Anonymousreply 484November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

Feels good to be proud to be an American tonight for the first time in 4 years

by Anonymousreply 485November 8, 2020 1:05 AM

They just paved Trump and his evil cohorts in to the ground tonight; and this isn't even the inauguration!

by Anonymousreply 486November 8, 2020 1:06 AM

I loved how he said he understood what it means to lose a loved one and spoke to the families of 230,000 who've died from COVID. He's what a President should be.

And then quoted "On Eagles Wings"

by Anonymousreply 487November 8, 2020 1:06 AM

He's putting his mask back on FAUX NEWS

by Anonymousreply 488November 8, 2020 1:06 AM

Love that they played “Won’t Back Down” right after Biden finished speaking. So perfect! Bring it Donald! LOL

by Anonymousreply 489November 8, 2020 1:07 AM

I wish RBG and John Lewis were here to see this

by Anonymousreply 490November 8, 2020 1:07 AM

2021 BABY!

by Anonymousreply 491November 8, 2020 1:07 AM

by Anonymousreply 492November 8, 2020 1:08 AM

MSNBC: Confirming that the sky display was drones.

by Anonymousreply 493November 8, 2020 1:08 AM

I know for RBG, it's just a long sleep, but I know Lewis is watching.

by Anonymousreply 494November 8, 2020 1:08 AM

Ending this god awful year on a high note.

by Anonymousreply 495November 8, 2020 1:08 AM

Let’s see Trump try to sell the idea he won after that.

by Anonymousreply 496November 8, 2020 1:08 AM

To be a fly on the wall in the White House right now

by Anonymousreply 497November 8, 2020 1:08 AM

Damn... checked into Fox... Karl Rove giving Biden raves. I don't know why that moves me so much...

by Anonymousreply 498November 8, 2020 1:09 AM

I am loving how the media is basically just ignoring Trump. My fear was they'd give in and give all his bullshit oxygen, but nope.

by Anonymousreply 499November 8, 2020 1:09 AM

R497 Even flies would find being that close to Trump too disgusting to tolerate

by Anonymousreply 500November 8, 2020 1:09 AM

by Anonymousreply 503November 8, 2020 1:10 AM

R498 I’ve been saying, FOX has dumped Trump.

by Anonymousreply 504November 8, 2020 1:11 AM

I'm celebrating with mimosas. Cheers, my friends.

by Anonymousreply 505November 8, 2020 1:11 AM

What a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man!!

by Anonymousreply 506November 8, 2020 1:12 AM

R498 I did the same and thought has the world gone nuts? No, Trump made it and now we are getting back to normal. But Fox will lose their far right viewers. They must be in rage.

by Anonymousreply 507November 8, 2020 1:12 AM

R454, I noticed the Secret Service behind them looked really grim as the principals were walking around. They must have gotten a lot of threats.

The Coldplay song was Beau’s favorite and it was played at his funeral, per Dana Bash.

by Anonymousreply 508November 8, 2020 1:13 AM

Do you think Trump's personal household staff in the White House are still suppressing their hatred or are they basically just sneering at Donald and his whore behind their masks. "Sorry Mr. President, we don't seem to have any toilet paper left, sit tight, I'll see what I can do."

by Anonymousreply 512November 8, 2020 1:13 AM

R454 for a second it looked like Biden was also spooked.

by Anonymousreply 513November 8, 2020 1:14 AM

And they won't get sued for using any of that music either.

by Anonymousreply 514November 8, 2020 1:14 AM

I wish I could have been at Obama's inauguration, but I really want to attend Biden's. Can you imagine all the people attending, more than now? It will KILL Trump.

by Anonymousreply 515November 8, 2020 1:14 AM

Love that the little granddaughter from Hunter’s brief “relationship” was on stage too, carried by another granddaughter. That’s Joe, he wants his whole family there.

by Anonymousreply 516November 8, 2020 1:14 AM

Interesting article from Politico, this will be a very interesting sign as to how the civil service is going to respond to Trump's bullshit.

[quote]You likely have never heard of Emily Murphy. She’d actually prefer to keep it that way. But the low-key civil servant has sole authority over whether or not Joe Biden’s transition can officially move forward, pushing her center stage in the presidential contest.

[quote]Murphy, the administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA), must make an “ascertainment” that Biden has won the presidency before the transition can contact federal agencies or access the millions of dollars set aside for the team. While the Associated Press and POLITICO have determined that Biden has won the election, President Donald Trump has not conceded and recounts are ongoing. “The simple fact is this election is far from over,” Trump said in a statement Saturday. “Legal votes decide who is president, not the news media.” This has put Murphy in an awkward position.

[quote]As a rule, the GSA avoids any hint of partisanship. Even as the media declared Biden the winner on Saturday, the GSA was reluctant to immediately follow, saying in a statement that “an ascertainment has not yet been made. GSA and its Administrator will continue to abide by, and fulfill, all requirements under the law.” Every passing day, however, also stalls what was already a historically difficult transition. Making matters even more complicated, the law on the subject is vague and leaves it up to Murphy to determine when Biden is officially president-elect.

The transition is going to show the great importance of having an establishment candidate like Biden. No inexperienced staffers here. He's going to have the best of the best, and that's going to be so vital with Trump likely doing his best to derail an orderly transition.

by Anonymousreply 532November 8, 2020 1:21 AM

I don't know about the huge inauguration crowd as Covid will still be an issue in January. He may just make it into a huge drive-in event, which would be pretty cool.

Yeah, I thought that too; I mean it's not like they're typically smiling like they're at Disney World, but considering the tension of the primaries on stage & the grim *red alert* on the faces of the SS, I was a bit unnerved. But glad it went off without a hitch

by Anonymousreply 539November 8, 2020 1:24 AM

by Anonymousreply 573November 8, 2020 1:48 AM

I know I'm petty, but I want everything to be a slight for awhile. I want the first cabinet meeting to have everyone start giving these ridiculous, over the top, effusive "Thank you Mr. God Emperor for giving me the supreme honor of serving you ..." No, r582, trump can whine and shriek, I'm sure he will but it doesn't mean anything. He's already experiencing the power slipping away, the attention turning to the next center of power.

We'll have to put up with Donald for a while as we move the next President in but Donald's significantly weaker already.

by Anonymousreply 583November 8, 2020 2:03 AM

Lol what r578. No, Pete is not under consideration for Chief of Staff.

It will probably be Ron Klain who was his Chief of Staff as VP. You realize Biden has been a politician a while and has a network of people he is significantly closer to than Pete.

by Anonymousreply 584November 8, 2020 2:04 AM

by Anonymousreply 588November 8, 2020 2:06 AM

by Anonymousreply 593November 8, 2020 2:10 AM

It's weird how some DLers think like Trump: I like him on TV, let's come up with a totally stupid job for him.

by Anonymousreply 594November 8, 2020 2:10 AM

Bitches, I can't believe we actually, finally, just elected the first female Vice President in our nation's history. As much as I wanted Hillary Clinton as president, and the first female president, electing Kamala Harris with Joe Biden puts us that much closer to finally having our first female president. For the first time in 4 years, I'm happy & proud to be an American and maybe even a little prouder to be a Pennsylvanian. To the rest of the country, we Pennsylvanians say: You're welcome! ;-)

R594 - to be fair, the last selection of department heads were based on less than that under Trump. So, this is progress.

I mean - c'mon man.

by Anonymousreply 598November 8, 2020 2:13 AM

by Anonymousreply 601November 8, 2020 2:17 AM

I don't think it's Pete lovers. I think it's Pete haters and Biden haters, shit-stirring.

I did say he's be fantastic as a chief of staff in some ways but not in others (no connections in DC) so he'd never get that job. Klain is a good guess.

Pete is headed for Secretary of the VA with liberal appearances on the Sunday shows.

by Anonymousreply 602November 8, 2020 2:18 AM

It finally hit when Kamala and Joe gave their speeches - we are free. The era of decency and tolerance/respect we had with Obama is back. I cried. Not as much as I did with Obama - but I realized how utterly drained I’ve been by the last 4 years and how it’s affected my whole outlook on life and the world. The flood of emotion that came with the realization was unexpected. It’s just feels like I’ve been let out of a dark prison into the sunlight. And there is hope and optimism.

[quote]Just let people like Michael Moore put a fire under Liberals' asses like he did with his predictions about this election.

Huh? In what Bizarro world did that happen? In his desperate efforts to smear and destroy the Democratic party and remain relevant, addled Berner (anarchist) Michael Moore has continued to shit all over Dems and tout purist fantasies that only the unelectable Bernie Sander would even listen to. Moore is another Trump-like narcissist who pretends to play for our team, but is just another fat, white multi-millionaire living in a mansion telling the rest of us how everything should be.

He'll be giving out instructions, warnings, and side eye for Joe and Kamala before Monday, bet on it.

[quote]I mean - the wife of the WorldWide Wrestling Federation, Linda McMahon, was in charge of the Small Bus Administration?

Yes, and believe it or not she is widely seen as having done a perfectly fine, non-partisan and professional job there, almost the only Trump appointee who has turned out to be competent in their job. Who knew?
