My doctor said I need to be eating bananas for potassium. But I heard bananas have the worst sugar content of any fruit. I told the doctor my concerns about the sugar and she laughed and said “I don’t think you need to be worrying about that”.
I’m scared of the sugar content in fruit

If you're not eating fruit almost EVERY day you don't have a healthful diet.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 25, 2020 8:20 PM |
Listen to your doctor. You obviously know nothing..
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 25, 2020 8:20 PM |
What do you think of a banana 🍌 split with hot fudge & whipped cream?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 25, 2020 8:23 PM |
The nutritional value is worth it unless you have diabetes. Plus, eating high fiber fruits will satiate you and prevent you from eating bad food
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 25, 2020 8:30 PM |
Unless you’re in ketosis ,15g of sugar won’t be terrible, OP. If you’re pairing it with cakes, pies, potatoes and lots of bread in the same day, then that is pretty bad. But you should probably look at cutting those other carbs before you attack the fruit.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 25, 2020 8:32 PM |
Buy some sugar free fruit.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 25, 2020 8:32 PM |
Just eat it.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 25, 2020 8:33 PM |
Most fruit is low on the glycemic index because of their fiber content so you shouldn't worry too much. Just avoid sugar from other sources. There are better plant sources of potassium, though. White beans, potatoes, avocados, and mushrooms all contain more potassium than bananas.

Canibal!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 25, 2020 8:35 PM |
Are you a great big fat person, Miss OP?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 25, 2020 9:12 PM |
If you eat the bananas when they are still green or still have some green on the skin, the sugar content is much lower than when they are ripe.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 25, 2020 9:18 PM |
My doctor says bananas are not a great way to get potassium into your system. You need a better doctor, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 25, 2020 9:21 PM |
I know a girl who ate a banana once. Turned out she had a sugar allergy. Her head swelled up and then she died. I suggest you seek a second opinion from a doctor who's not a pawn of the FRUIT LOBBY.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 25, 2020 9:24 PM |
Eat an avocado instead, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 25, 2020 9:55 PM |
And if you want fruit, berries are good. Strawberries are pretty okay on the keto diet.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 25, 2020 10:01 PM |
Banana bread is fine.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 25, 2020 11:40 PM |
Just say no!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 25, 2020 11:43 PM |
OP, for crying out loud... you're scared of sugar, but, I'll bet you haul ass to Provincetown every summer, crawl under the "Dick Dock", & take all comers, in every orifice.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 25, 2020 11:49 PM |
Just grab that fear and eat and eat and eat
until you can't feel the fear anymore
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 25, 2020 11:54 PM |
Really, honey
I started with one banana and now I can eat anything!
Here to support you...

That's funny because I knew a girl who had a sugar addiction. She began to crave the sugar fix from bananas she'd shove two, three, sometimes four up her ass every day. She's dead now.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 26, 2020 12:22 AM |
I knew a girl who ate a banana
and a banana cake
and a banana cream pie...etc, etc, etc.
She gets paid a fortune and she's never looked back

Grapes are the highest sugar content fruit actually.

Diet Dr. Howard Shapiro had a diet practice as a physician in NYC..read his books n don’t worry about sugar.

Are you a man from Wisconsin with a very big Johnson? A little sugar is what you need.

We are talking about bananas, NOT grapes! Take your grape talk to another thread!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 26, 2020 12:40 AM |
^OP said he thought banana was the highest dipshit
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 26, 2020 12:49 AM |
No you're the dipshit! Stop derailing the thread with grape talk!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 26, 2020 12:51 AM |
Seems like a lot of grape-based anger in this thread. You all need to calm down and focus on the real enemy - pears. Fuck pears, those nasty shits.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 26, 2020 1:34 AM |
Seems someone got nasty after a reply mentioned a very large Johnson...misdirected anger toward the grape post but he is mad he has a little prick no doubt.

I don't like bananas, so fuck them. And I hate fructose in fruits too, so fuck them.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 26, 2020 2:06 AM |
I had bananas on pancakes all smothered in homemade cherry syrup for breakfast. I felt the potassium was a healthy option.

Wow! Who knew that grapes had PR hacks who would swoop in to defend them at a moment's notice.
PR Guys. Hope those grapes are paying you a good salary!

Natural sugars.. it’s not refined

And such sour gripes about sweet grapes.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 26, 2020 2:39 AM |
Simple solution, idiot. EAT the fruit. Whole fruit is good for you. Even if you're a diabetic. Fruit juice is poison -all the sugar with none of the fiber.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 26, 2020 5:18 AM |
Im type 2 diabetic and watch my sugar like a hawk.
Fruit aka bananas can raise my blood sugar, but not like a piece of toast.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 26, 2020 5:32 AM |
[Quote] bananas when they are still green or still have some green on the skin, the sugar content is much lower
Good makes sense, thanks!

Have you tried potassium supplements? My doctor prescribed them for me. I've been taking them for the last three years
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 26, 2020 8:06 AM |
My elderly mom has to eat a banana over a potassium pill, since the pill might raise her potassium levels too much.
She hates bananas but I make sure she eats them regularly. Doctor's order.

Marty,
What has Mommy told you about using this kind of language on the computer?
Would you like to have your computer time restricted again?
I didn't think so. Now, come in the kitchen and let Mommy make you a snack.

OP has a sugar deficiency!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 27, 2020 10:39 AM |
R45, surely there are lower-dosage supplements she could have instead? My dad used to take an orange powdered supplement for potassium, dissolved in water, that was a lower dose than the pills he got later on.
I hate bananas myself and I would refuse to eat them just because a doctor said there was no supplement I could take. That's b.s. and you should look into that instead of forcing her to eat something gross.

0/10.
In the off chance there's the slightest element of truth in your words, you need therapy. Sugar levels in fruit are the least of troubles.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 29, 2020 11:50 PM |
OP? You should be.
