[quote] “You understand that they’re going to have to kill me, and unfortunately, I think that’s where this is going,” Mr. Caputo, a Trump loyalist installed by the White House in April, told followers in a video he hosted live on his personal Facebook page. Mr. Caputo has 5,000 Facebook friends, and the video has been viewed more than 850 times. It has been shared by 44 followers.

[quote] “I don’t like being alone in Washington,” he said, describing “shadows on the ceiling in my apartment, there alone, shadows are so long.” He then ran through a series of conspiracy theories, culminating in a prediction that Mr. Trump will win re-election but his Democratic opponent, Joseph R. [quote] “And when Donald Trump refuses to stand down at the inauguration, the shooting will begin,” he said. “The drills that you’ve seen are nothing.” He added: “If you carry guns, buy ammunition, ladies and gentlemen, because it’s going to be hard to get.”

A call to impeach Bill Barr:It's time to do something far-reaching about Attorney General Bill Barr.

#ImpeachBarr and #DisBarr climbed the social-media charts over the past week after Barr's Justice Department moved to intervene on President Donald Trump's behalf in a defamation lawsuit. In a stunning move, Barr stepped in from the president's personal lawyers to take over the defense of the case against the commander-in-chief. The suit stems from Trump's response to a sexual-assault claim. That's right: At taxpayer expense, the attorney general is marshaling the resources of the Justice Department to defend Trump on a personal matter — not a governance matter. It's just the latest in a long list of actions by Barr to protect the president's politics at the expense of the rule of law that nourishes our democracy.

Emails show Pompeos knew their requests of State Dept. staff were personal tasks

[quote] Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s wife wanted senior State Department staff to work during the week of Christmas to complete their personal holiday cards, requesting they keep the circle small because of the private nature of the assignment, emails obtained by McClatchy show. Susan Pompeo wrote to Toni Porter, a longtime confidante and aide to the secretary from his days as a Kansas congressman, asking who would be in the office that week to help with the cards.

[quote] In Porter’s testimony to the House, which published a transcript of the hearing on Friday, she described discomfort at being asked to handle the holiday cards for the Pompeos. She named Joe Semrad, assistant to the secretary, as an official who filled in for her when she was unavailable to complete the Pompeos’ personal requests. Porter described her job at the State Department as handling projects of special importance to the secretary. In addition to Pompeo, Porter said she receives orders from the secretary’s wife through a private email address.

More on Caputo from R78

[quote] Caputo, who lived in Russia for six years, was an adviser to Boris Yeltsin from 1995 to 1999 and helped him get elected as president. He also served as an adviser to a subsidiary of the state-owned energy company Gazprom, and reportedly helped shore up Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reputation.

[quote] Caputo’s Kremlin ties were so concerning that he became a target of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election. He was questioned but was not charged with any offenses. He also testified before the House Intelligence Committee that he had no contact with Russians while serving on the Trump campaign.

[quote] Before he was appointed to his current role, Caputo also scrubbed nearly his entire Twitter history, which was riddled with graphic, offensive attacks, outlandish conspiracy theories, and racist comments about the Chinese.

[quote] But Caputo’s efforts to manipulate scientific information have been roundly slammed. Dr. Tom Inglesby, director of the Center for Health Security at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, called it a “new low for science in the U.S.” Gregg Gonsalves, assistant professor of epidemiology at the Yale University Medical School, characterized it as “thuggery, suitable for some tinpot dictatorship.”

I get annoyed when people attack Bob Woodward for not speaking out after he learned that Trump was fully briefed on the danger of the Covid virus in January. He said on Colbert last night he wasn't even sure Trump was being honest at that point.

But Trump wasn't the only one advised about the virus on an official level at that time. Kushner, Ivanka, Steven Miller, and other close advisers learned about it, too. Why didn't they come forward with their knowledge? They knew the truth but they sat back and looked the other way while Trump lied, over and over again, to the vulnerable American public. Meanwhile, public health officials did speak out and they were sidelined and dominated by Trump. Many of us didn't believe Trump, we never do, but some who did paid with their lives. RIP Herman Cain.

The president is a liar. We all know that. He continues to lie about Covid, putting his base at risk while he desperately hangs onto his fake presidency.

Actually, based on this scenario, Pence holds more power than he thinks -- hell, Trump needs him, not the other way around: Trump needs him for the fundie vote. Trump also needs him to pardon him if shit goes south after the election in order to keep from getting federally prosecuted. If Pence had any sense, he'd use this leverage to his advantage.

U.S. Admits That Congressman Offered Pardon to Assange If He Covered Up Russia Links.

Lawyers representing the United States at Julian Assange’s extradition trial in Britain have accepted the claim that the WikiLeaks founder was offered a presidential pardon by a Congressman on the condition that he would help cover up Russia’s involvement in hacking emails from the Democratic National Committee.

Jennifer Robinson, a lawyer, told the court that she had attended a meeting between Assange, then Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, and pro-Trump troll Charles Johnson at Assange’s hide-out, the Ecuadorian embassy in London, on August 15, 2017.

Robinson said the two Americans claimed to be emissaries from Washington and “wanted us to believe they were acting on behalf of the president.” The pair allegedly told Assange that they could help grant him a pardon in exchange for him revealing information about the source of the WikiLeaks information that proved it was not the Russians who hacked Democratic emails.

The White House and the pharmaceutical industry were nearing a major deal to lower drug prices. Then the administration demanded that $100 "Trump Cards" be sent to millions of seniors before the election — and the industry balked.

Some of the drugmakers bridled at being party to what they feared would be seen as an 11th-hour political boost for Mr. Trump. by Anonymousreply 207September 19, 2020 7:18 AM

I don't think we're fucked, from a voting standpoint. Trump's base still isn't large enough to win him the election, even if his cult are now super-motivated to vote. I don't think Ginsberg's death will be enough to motivate independents - those who would be motivated by such a thing are already entrenched in their vote.

by Anonymousreply 208September 19, 2020 10:39 AM

R208 We're not fucked from a voting standpoint, but we are fucked from a "voting " standpoint. We have way more than enough LEGITIMATE votes. We did in 2016. But have you been paying attention to all that's been going on behind the scenes? And I'm talking just the stuff we know about? (and, respectfully, please don't feel attacked by me, it's not my intent).

Many of us still all accept that 2016 was a legitimate, free and fair election. Yet so much evidence continues to be revealed that it was anything but!

I'm not just talking about the misinformation campaign and Comey's October surprise (just to mention two), I'm talking about evidence that voting machines in EVERY STATE were hacked. Not just the 21 first revealed by IG sources in 2017. It is why Trump has waged his campaign against the Post Office/mail-in voting, and is insistent that people HAVE to go to the polls. He knows Putin has the button to change the tallies, (it has to do with the touch screens, as well as other vulnerable technological areas). And because of the irreparable damage that has already been done, and the GOP representatives in certain areas that are deliberately still allowing, they are making it practically impossible for the mail voting system to work. People will be forced to literally risk their lives if they want to leave their houses and vote.

It also conveniently ties in to Trump still deliberately lying about the Covid number of deaths, brutality of the disease, and chances of getting it. Despite taped evidence of his own voice confirming he knew the risks and dangers, he continues to blatantly lie at his rallies. He lies about the number of deaths, the harshness of the disease, the long-term nasty effects, and each person's possibility of getting it. If supporters continue to think it's all "Fake", they'll go in person to the polls.

SEE how it's all connected?

No repairs have been implemented to our voting system. NONE! ..... quite the opposite....The Russians have improved their methods of infiltration. There is no way the results will be accurate. Not even close. Not with the people in charge.

Trump has already stated he will contest, 100%, when he loses because his losing is proof that our voting system is rigged! And we all know it is exactly the opposite. 180 degrees!! His "winning" is absolute proof that hacking successfully took place. Just like in 2016.

The Democrats have to come right out and say this. "IF DONALD TRUMP WINS, THAT IS 100% PROOF POSITIVE VOTING WAS RIGGED!"

The election should just be canceled. Trump should be disqualified and Biden automatically made President. Yes, of course I know this is impossible. I'm not delusional. But violence and death is a certainty come November. WTF can we do to prevent this?

I’m gutted about RBG. This is bad. We need 4 GOP senators to actually vote no on any nominee until after either Presidential Bone Spurs is re-elected or Biden is sworn in.

by Anonymousreply 218September 19, 2020 10:30 PM

which is unlikely FCI. The Senate used to famously be a place where bills and everything go to die. Is there no way to gum up the works there for a month or so?

by Anonymousreply 219September 19, 2020 10:33 PM

Tucker Carlson ran a segment the other night with a woman in PA, who complained to her local school board about her child's textbook that touted that police were bad. When the school board ignored her, she went public on Facebook, got lots of threats and then she got support from people who thanked her for speaking up. (I didn't see the segment, this is what my elderly Fox-watching relative told me.) So Trump's announcement about "patriotic education" is aimed specifically at Fox watchers - Trump and that demographic group are essentially having a back-and-forth conversation that the mainstream media isn't picking up on - the silo effect.

r209 While I agree that touch screen computers are vulnerable, and especially the ones (like Georgia had until recently), which don't print out receipts for the votes cast that the voters can look at to verify, there are many states (such as my own) that use bubble sheets. Those are much harder to hack. Of course, I live in a blue state, and one which has had mail voting only for the past decade. It's vitally important that people vote this year. Huge numbers always benefit Democrats. That's why the Republicans focus on voter suppression. Also, while voting machines might get hacked in some areas, election day voter polling is generally accurate. So if 85% of the people responding say they voted for Joe Biden, and the voting totals in that district show Donald Trump winning by 85%, that's going to get attention. Voting hacks (if done cleverly) try to work on the margins - changing just enough votes in close elections to swing the election without drawing attention. It's vital that Trump lose by huge margins in every state, particularly in so-called "swing" states, to overcome the cheating that is almost certain to take place. This was always Obama's strategy, and it was a successful one.

I just finished reading Michael Cohen's book. I found it very interesting and enlightening in spite of already being well aware of trumps criminality and lies.

Near the end it got chilling, and that's in part from the description of his final dinner with trump before his home was raided by the FBI and subsequent troubles. The two of them had dinner with one of the richest men on the planet, talking business with trump having the ability to grant influence and favors to others from the middle east like the guest.

Cohen described trump as being always surrounded by billionaires and sycophants. They are at his hotels and clubs, lavishing him with praise, enriching his coffers through frequenting his properties, and generally sucking up to trump for the tax breaks and deregulation that creates even more wealth for them. Trump and cohorts are in a feeding frenzy at the trough that is our crumbling democracy.

The deplorable cult is nothing more than legions of zombies who somehow think there is something in this for them, as told in lies by trump for their votes. Yes, they feel validated in their racism, sexism, greed, and hate, but the dollars flow upward to the top.

trump is in this for the personal wealth and glory for himself, supported by and for the greedy rich. He cares nothing for regular Americans.

We all know this of course, those who pay attention, but Cohen's and other's remarks about not giving up power ring true, in large part because he knows he'll be indicted when he leaves office. November looms ominously and we must steel ourselves for the fight. He must not be allowed to cheat and lie to remain in office.

In a new book, Muelller prosecutor Andrew Weissman confirms that: Special Counsel team members where frustrated by Mueller's "mealymouthed" conclusion. And more: Mueller weakened his probe largely to avoid an explosive confrontation with the White House.

“Had we given it our all—had we used all available tools to uncover the truth, undeterred by the onslaught of the president’s unique powers to undermine our efforts?” Weissmann writes in the introduction. “I know the hard answer to that simple question: We could have done more.” Elsewhere, he admits that, “like Congress, we were guilty of not pressing as hard as we could” for evidence. He calls a crucial passage of the Mueller report “mealymouthed”—an easy mark for Barr’s treachery. “Part of the reason the president and his enablers were able to spin the report was that we had left the playing field open for them to do so.”

On March 17, 2020, the day of the Florida Presidential primary, Riddle rose at 6 a.m. and put on a T-shirt with an inscription that she’d devised: “First in Line, First Time Voting.” At the Robert L. Taylor Community Center, she signed her name to the voting roll and, at the age of sixty-two, cast her first ballot. “Like a gift from Heaven,” she said.

But, after voting in the primary, Riddle may not be able to vote in the upcoming general election. Six months after Amendment Four passed, the Republican-dominated legislature approved a law dictating that ex-felons could vote only if they first paid all the fines, restitution, and fees imposed at their sentencing. The law may affect as many as seven hundred and seventy thousand Florida residents, about half of whom are Black. In many cases, the totals came to thousands of dollars. The burden was not just large but uncertain: state officials testified that they had no way of knowing how much money felons owe, or whether they have paid; those calculations would take six years or so to complete.

The legislation gutted Amendment Four, but DeSantis claimed that he was merely enforcing the language that voters had approved. “The amendment does not apply to a felon who has failed to complete all the terms of his sentence,” he maintained.

Riddle and sixteen other former felons sued DeSantis, arguing that the requirement amounted to a poll tax, which is prohibited by the Constitution.

US ambassador under fire for hosting Dutch far-right bash Embassy and MP Thierry Baudet deny claims that event was a fundraiser.

By ELINE SCHAART 9/22/20, 6:31 PM CET The U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands has been accused of interfering in national politics after hosting an event for the far-right Forum for Democracy party.

The event, held at the American Embassy in Wassenaar on September 10, featured between 30 and 40 "party officials and wealthy entrepreneurs," according to Dutch magazine De Groene Amsterdammer. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra spoke at the event. Hoekstra, who was born in the Netherlands but raised in Michigan, was appointed by Donald Trump in 2017.

Other political parties, including Prime Minister Mark Rutte's VVD, have raised questions about the event and whether it should have been allowed. "Of course this should not have happened," MP Bram van Ojik from the Greens told broadcaster NOS. "This is interference in our elections."

“Political hit job”: GOP’s Biden report littered with debunked claims and “Russian disinformation”

Senate Republicans on Wednesday released an interim report of their investigation into Democratic nominee Joe Biden and son Hunter Biden that largely recycles old claims to back up allegations which have already been debunked.

"Hunter Biden's position on Burisma's board was problematic and did interfere in the efficient execution of policy with respect to Ukraine," the report said, though it provided no evidence of any policies which were affected.

The report went on to acknowledge as much, undermining its own conclusion by noting that "the extent to which Hunter Biden's role on Burisma's board affected U.S. policy toward Ukraine is not clear."

Amos Hochstein, who serves on the supervisory board of state-owned Ukrainian oil and gas holding Naftogaz, told the investigation that former Energy Secretary Rick Perry “inappropriately pressured the Ukrainian government” to place a Houston-based businessman named Robert Bensch on the board of Naftogaz, while other DOE officials pressed Kyiv to sign an agreement with a “private business entity connected to Mr. Bensh."

President Trump struggled in a television interview on Tuesday to point to specific “highlights” from his presidency, the latest instance in which he’s had trouble articulating his accomplishments and an agenda for a second term.

Asked by NewsNation anchor Joe Donlon to name the “highlights” of his presidency, Trump said he had “many highlights” but was only able to name two: his 2016 victory, which he said “showed what could be done,” and the creation of Space Force.

“The biggest highlight,” Trump said, is “all of the achievements,” predicting that he will have “many more highlights” and that the next four years will be “incredible, added on together it will be something very unique.”

Internal polls are horrendous for republicans esp Pres Bone Spurs. What little undecideds are left would break for Biden by 2 to 1. Campaign has all but given up any tiny pretense of legitimately trying to win them over.

Buckle up. We’re seeing an entire political party in on it. Republicans can’t win on ideas or policy. They know even the white working class would hate their economics if they could see past their racism and/ or false grievances with Dems. They’re all in on cheating.

An intelligence report will leak soon. Surprise, no. It will be the biggest warning yet. Republicans will shrug. We won’t. Huge pressure, unprecedented pressure, is being put on those in Intel, former Military, Defense, DHS, practically every agency in the Federal govt to come out with what they know.

We’re in for nightmare times over the next few months. What my friend said is this- when all looks bleak know there are options available to Nancy and others. She has come through. We will win out. We will. The chances of having President Pelosi are 50/50.

The Atlantic: According to sources in the Republican Party at the state and national levels, the Trump campaign is discussing contingency plans to bypass election results and appoint loyal electors in battleground states where Republicans hold the legislative majority. With a justification based on claims of rampant fraud, Trump would ask state legislators to set aside the popular vote and exercise their power to choose a slate of electors directly. The longer Trump succeeds in keeping the vote count in doubt, the more pressure legislators will feel to act before the safe-harbor deadline expires.

To a modern democratic sensibility, discarding the popular vote for partisan gain looks uncomfortably like a coup, whatever license may be found for it in law. Would Republicans find that position disturbing enough to resist? Would they cede the election before resorting to such a ploy? Trump’s base would exact a high price for that betrayal, and by this point party officials would be invested in a narrative of fraud.

The Trump-campaign legal adviser I spoke with told me the push to appoint electors would be framed in terms of protecting the people’s will. Once committed to the position that the overtime count has been rigged, the adviser said, state lawmakers will want to judge for themselves what the voters intended.

So I was just watching some news briefing where they laid out Dotard's plan to have early paper ballots that have been dropped off deemed void by Republican legislators by citing fraud to then do away with the popular vote and instead have hand chosen Rethug electorates vote for Drumpf. So people are warning not to drop ballots off early.

You're not supposed to send them in via email either because he has effectively rigged the postal system so that those will be delayed, lost, destroyed, and not counted in time.

Which then leads to being urged to vote in-person, which makes one risk long lines (if there's no early voting available) and of course exposing yourself to Covid. But that's being called "the safest" way to do it... but that could also be a ploy because the voting machines haven't been changed out and he surely will have the assistance of Put Put again.

So basically... there's no way to feel secure in your vote at all.

Why would anyone give any Rethug that much credit. Of course they won't resist. They'll all fucking cheer at how they once again came up with another way to steal the election.

Yes, let's all give up and not vote! Good idea, Oksana!

by Anonymousreply 351September 24, 2020 5:58 AM

This is the result of Trump realizing that his elaborate attack on the post office and his attempts to get his voters to vote twice were not enough. He’s brought out this new nuclear option because he cannot rig the vote any other way. He has to persuade people that their votes won’t count because he must know that now there is no way of him winning. Even a normal distortions of the electors college can’t save him.

Unfortunately my understanding is that this is not illegal and therefore cannot be a criminal conspiracy. States are allowed to determine how electors are selected. The fact that in the past they have yielded to the will of the voter in no way prevents them from legally selecting any electors they choose for any reason whatsoever.

Yet another reason that the electoral college needs to be eliminated. Its usefulness disappeared at least a century ago.

Protests should be organized this weekend. In front of the houses/offices of every Republican Senator, (maybe Congress too).

"Speak Out For Democracy, or Resign".

Every Republican in office should come out and rebuke what Trump said in front of the entire country, or be faced with protests every single day unless or until they resign. This should include the BLM marchers for Brionna Taylor; all the trouble and injustice we are suffering now is because of this President and his administration.

by Anonymousreply 393September 25, 2020 1:02 AM

R393 r394

Protests outside the homes, offices, campaign headquarters/offices of Republican Senators and some GOP House members are way more personal and effective. Make them uncomfortable and not get away with hiding.

Street protesters often turn much of the public against them when police & civilians get shot/assaulted; and looting, vandalism, and arson happens. That gives Trump talking points.

Focus on the ones with voting power. And don't forget giving Trump administrators wake-up calls with drums and tambourines.

Street protesters need to vote. Many of them won't.

The judge decided discovery was needed in order to determine whether then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions was motivated by political pressure—applied by the president—to punish McCabe:

Our current president bases his decisions on his instincts, and his instincts are based upon a personal value proposition — what’s in it for me?"

Is it legal to go on a cable show, and be given free, (or actually being paid), airtime to plea for campaign donations? Don't most politicians have to buy their ads to beg for money on TV networks? Looks like campaign finance rules are being broken here and Fox is making an exception for Lindsey Graham.

Please read posted article....

(From the article)... There needs to be a shift in the narrative that the press has about Trump. The real story is not that Trump is claiming that the election is rigged against him. It’s that Trump, with the help of Russia and the current GOP in power positions, are actively doing everything they can to rig the election for Trump. Let’s just do a quick drill-down on this fact.

Signs That Trump is Cheating

Trump has a tendency of accusing others of what he’s planning to do, or has already done, himself. Here’s just a simple example of that phenomenon: the way he accused — and still accuses — our 44th President, Barack Obama, of playing too much golf while president. Meanwhile, as the 45th president, Trump’s played more than double the amount of golf Obama had at this point in the Obama Presidency.) Given Trump’s way of telegraphing his intentions, it is likely that all his talk of the election being rigged against him is a huge signal that he’s actually trying to have the 2020 election rigged in his favor. After all, that’s likely why he’s in office now.

Then there’s Trump’s ranting about mail-in voting being a means for the democrats to cheat — which is completely false. Voter fraud by mail has been proven time and time again to be “near impossible.” Meanwhile, he’s literally put in a postmaster general who’s been slowing down the mail and getting rid of mailboxes. Trump taking these actions is likely because Russia helped him win and he wants their help again. That means he needs more people voting in person using the electronic voting machines that we know the Russians were able to hack in 2016. As many have pointed out, including Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris, the Russians can’t hack paper ballots.

The article at r451 discusses voting machines in certain states and how they might have absolutely been hacked by the Russians in 2016 giving Trump the Electoral Victory. Although far more difficult to accomplish this year, it might be a lot easier to affect certain Senate races. The Democrats seem certain we will win back the Senate, but that is only if we have a free and fair election. Which we won't! If Trump "wins" the electoral college, and Senators like Lindsay Graham win close races in their states, the Dems MUST protest and insist hacking of tallies be investigated.

This is why Trump is SO INSISTENT all Americans must vote at the Polls. Why else would he have gone to such extremes to dismantle the post office?

But It's why he's now so desperate. Once he's out of office, he can be charged and sent straight to prison. (yeah, I know, that will never happen anyway, but....)

In today's WaPo:

Donald Trump, facing financial ruin, sought control of his elderly father’s estate. The family fight was epic.

Donald Trump was facing financial disaster in 1990 when he came up with an audacious plan to exert control of his father’s estate.

His creditors threatened to force him into personal bankruptcy, and his first wife, Ivana, wanted “a billion dollars” in a divorce settlement, Donald Trump said in a deposition. So he sent an accountant and a lawyer to see his father, Fred Trump Sr., who was told he needed to immediately sign a document changing the will according to his son’s wishes, according to depositions from family members.

It was a fragile moment for the senior Trump, who was 85 years old and had built a real estate empire worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He would soon be diagnosed with cognitive problems, such as being unable to recall things he was told 30 minutes earlier or remember his birth date, according to his medical records, which were included in a related court case.

Now, those records and other sources of information about the episode obtained by The Washington Post reveal the extent of Fred Trump Sr.’s cognitive impairment and how Donald’s effort to change his father’s will tore apart the Trump family, which continues to reverberate today.

The recent release of a tell-all book by the president’s niece Mary L. Trump and the disclosure of secret recordings of her conversations with her aunt reflect the ongoing resentment of some family members toward Donald Trump’s attempt to change his father’s will.

Listen to Maryanne Trump Barry tell her niece Mary L. Trump how Donald Trump tried to take over the family estate. With the election weeks away, the documents and recordings provide more fodder for Mary Trump’s continuing efforts to see her uncle defeated by Democrat Joe Biden, whom she has said she would do “everything in my power” to elect. Trump’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry was recorded by her niece in January 2019 expressing outrage over her brother’s efforts to change the will as their father’s mental capacity was declining. “Dad was in dementia,” Barry said.

Barry said that when she was asked by her father in 1990 to review the proposed changes, she consulted with her husband, John Barry, an attorney familiar with estate law who died in 2000. “I show it to John, and he says, ‘Holy s--t.’ It was basically taking the whole estate and giving it to Donald,” Barry said.

Barry helped convince her father to reject her brother’s effort. As a result, Donald Trump “didn’t talk to me for two years,” Barry said during one of several conversations her niece recorded. Mary Trump recently provided the tapes to The Post.

R514 The race was VERY close. I believe he lost by two percentage points— it was the closest Senate race in Texas since the 70s. Hopefully, next time we will get him and he will be gone for good.

Tides are changing here. I’m a millennial, but many of the conservative boomers I know here are sick of Trump’s lack of morals. A family member is a pastor a major church in a big city here and even he isn’t voting for Trump. I was surprised to hear him talk about how despicable he was.

Eric Robinson, Ron DeSantis, Bill Barr, Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani, Steve Scalise, Mike Pompeo; and Louis DeJoy, among others,, look like they are stuffing their faces so relentlessly during the pandemic. Even Lindsey has gone "fat". All the while, Trump's super-sized girdles are pressing-in ever expanding girth.

Back to election hacking. What I want to say is SO important. but I'm having trouble organizing the words in my head. Here goes...

It IS possible to hack election machines, to change the "results" of the final tallies. Many, including me, believe that Trump did not win the Electoral College in 2016, That his scant "victory", credited to 78,000 votes in 3 states, was the result of Russian hacking, and if their interference had not been successful, Hilary would been declared the winner. She not only would have won, but it wouldn't have even been close!

For those of you who doubt that theory - Fine - We're used to it. But please consider it is at least a possibility, because even if it didn't happen then - if the Russians were NOT successful then- it doesn't mean they won't be successful this time!

Now pay attention: Trump expects he will, or at least could, win the Electoral College again. It's the only way he can "win", because it's the only way Russia can intervene. It's why he has gutted our Post Office, and why he is deliberately throwing doubt on our vote-by-mail system. So that when he does come out ahead on Election night, IF he comes out ahead, we all will be too worried about the mail-in results - and his efforts to suppress those votes - that we won't be doing what we should be doing - WHAT HE DOESN'T WANT US TO DO -

--------------------- QUESTION AND DOUBT THAT HE IS AHEAD AT ALL!!! ------------------------------------------------------

He expects we will assume he is ahead - legitimately ahead - and we will stay silent as we quiver in fear.

WE CANNONT ACCEPT THE RESULTS IF HE IS AHEAD BY THE END OF ELECTION NIGHT! WE CANNOT STAY SILENT!

Got that?

R532 You’re correct. Or so I “believe”. “My opinion.” *ahem*

It is not controversial to say machines actually can change votes with the correct malware. For our various agencies to openly admit this happened? Devastating. Will they when it’s fairly well know inside Congress and DC? My bet is no. Nancy, and others, have hinted this many times. To openly admit this? They would need declassification. Fat chance of that happening.

Good news- if we vote in large numbers we win. We’re turning out. The AOC wing seems very energized now. Of all the no voters, Bernie voters, Jill voters, Pres Bone Spurs voter I know—All of them are solid Biden voters this time.

by Anonymousreply 534September 29, 2020 11:26 AM

Why doesn’t the press ever ask Donald or Ivanka why she has a patent on voting machines?

I don't have a hard time believing that voting machines have been compromised. Sadly, I also don't have a hard time believing our government will never tell us about it -- "protecting" us from the reality so we don't lose what little faith we have left in the democratic process.

WHAT? IS NANCY AFRAID OF HURTING THEIR FEELINGS? THAT'S BULLSHIT. THERE IS ENOUGH DATA OUT THERE TO AT LEAST RAISE THE QUESTION... THE VOTING MACHINES ARE USELESS IF WE HAVE NO DEMOCRACY LEFT.

"Good news- if we vote in large numbers we win. We’re turning out. The AOC wing seems very energized now. Of all the no voters, Bernie voters, Jill voters, Pres Bone Spurs voter I know—All of them are solid Biden voters this time."

NOT GOOD ENOUGH. WHAT IF WE DON'T? HOW WILL WE KNOW? THEY'VE HAD FOUR YEARS TO PERFECT THEIR METHODS. WE COULD BEAT TRUMP 2 TO 1, YET THEIR "RESULTS" WILL TELL US OTHERWISE. AND POS BILL BARR IS A MASTER AT PUTTING OUT FALSE INFORMATION THAT'S JUST PLAUSIBLE ENOUGH TO BE BELIEVED.

(Sorry to all for my all caps, but I'm technically-challenged and could never figure out how to properly format)

All I'm saying is, if the results favor Trump on election night, we can't just throw up our hands and cry ourselves to sleep . We have to contest with all the ammunition we have. Especially if Nancy and Joe stay silent, asking us to be patient and trust in the system. We patiently waited thru the Mueller Report. Where did that get us? We patiently waited for Nancy to start impeachment proceedings. Where did that get us? We patiently waited thru the took-to-long-to-happen impeachment. Where did that get us?

Every single day we continue to wait, more people die of Covid, Trump commits more crimes, grifts more money out of our government, and further destroys our institutions and reputation throughout the world. EVERY.....SINGLE.....DAY!

We have just over 1 month left. THIS is what we should be preparing for.

FCI, please don't think I'm taking this out on you, (or anyone else). I went to bed depressed, but I woke up so fucking angry!

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe today declassified a Russian intelligence assessment that was previously rejected by Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee as having no factual basis.

The assessment claims that Hillary Clinton personally approved an effort “to stir up a scandal against U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump by tying him to Putin and the Russians' hacking of the Democratic National Committee.” But Ratcliffe noted that the U.S. intelligence community “does not know the accuracy of this allegation or the extent to which the Russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication.”

Several former senior intelligence officials described Ratcliffe’s move as incendiary and irresponsible, given the manner in which he was publicly releasing unverified information from a foreign adversary.

[quote]There's already proof. I work in the industry. I sat in a meeting with the head of cyber security investigations for the FBI in Florida. Their systems were hacked in 2016. What's difficult is proving that (or more accurately stated "how") the votes were manipulated. But go back to election night and remember how Trump pulled ahead in Florida, NC, MI, PA and WI. It happened almost like clock work once the precincts reporting crossed the 50% threshold. This shit is deep. Putin had already done this in his own election and also in Ukraine. We should be very worried about the EU elections coming up.

[quote]Lindsey Graham on Spreading Potential Russian Disinformation: It Doesn’t Matter If It’s True.

That's the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, folks.

[quote]Former Hillary Clinton aides, ex-intelligence officials and Senate Democrats are accusing Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe of laundering Russian disinformation before an election after Ratcliffe suggested Clinton attempted to manufacture a scandal about Russian interference in the 2016 election on behalf of President Trump. On Tuesday, Ratcliffe, a loyalist whom Trump placed atop U.S. intelligence in the spring, sent Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) a letter claiming that in late July 2016, U.S. intelligence acquired “insight” into a Russian intelligence analysis. That analysis, Ratcliffe summarized in his letter, claimed that Clinton had a plan to attack Trump by tying him to the 2016 hack of the Democratic National Committee. Trump, in late July 2016, had publicly called for Russia to purloin Clinton’s emails. And both U.S. intelligence and former special counsel Robert Mueller have since attributed that hack to Russia.

Ratcliffe should be nowhere near national intelligence.
