GH returns to taping today with new episodes set to air on 8/3.

That is a quick turn around but according to their press release they set on a few new episodes before the lock down.

After the episodes they sat on air, they will need to break up Nina and Jax.

No way will those two actors be able to convincingly work together after their little twitter exchange during the early lock down.

They had zero chemistry before that, it would take Oscar worthy acting to hide their disdain at this point.

Wise that they sat on a few episodes when they closed out of new episodes for the coronavirus hiatus. Smart to go out on a cliffhanger of the trial rather than have all that resolved.

Although at this point, its been so long since I've seen a new episode, I really don't care what happens to those characters. Wonder how many other viewers feel the same way and don't return. The return ratings will be telling.

Show will really need to amp up the excitement of the storytelling to get some viewers back now that we're all out of the habit of watching.

Tristan Rogers won Daytime Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in Digital Drama a couple days ago for this performance in Sean Kanan's Studio City on Amazon.

The other soaps can probably get away with not addressing the current situation, but for a soap largely staged in a hospital, they'll likely need to address the new reality in some ways, maybe background wearing masks in the hospital

Yeah but the hospital is only used for random meetups. There are hardly any extras in the back like it used to be. They don’t even have the teens volunteering there anymore.

I could totally see them creating some other type of epidemic as a way to be able to tap into the general concept and show characters masking, distancing, etc., especially in the hospital scenes. From the production point of view, it's probably better to stay away from the specifics of COVID-19, since information on that changes so rapidly that they might end up sending wrong messages with obsolete info.

Since Dr. Hamilton Finn is an infectious disease specialist, this could be right in his wheelhouse. Hell, maybe we'd even get an extra-special appearance by our dear, beloved Roxy as the comfort animal ambassador to the children's ward.

They really should go with an epidemic story line and bring in notorious Dr. David Hayward to assist Dr. Finn.

About the only thing that could get me to give the borefest that is current GH another shot is if they brought David Hayward on. His character would be great on the show, for all the reasons listed above.

Doing an infectious disease story makes perfect sense until you realize they'd pick one of the Corinthos family as the victim. We'd get days of the Corinthos family ringing their hands & moaning while the hospital staff were relegated to being no more than extras.

I think GH should do a virus sl that mirrors what we are going through. Play it up for dramas! Have characters be isolated. And for sure kill off half of this shows dead weight. Let’s give the doctors and nurses on this show something to do...

Since PC is in NYS they should show the medical staff not having enough PPE the way it was in March - first half of May. They should be very realistic about it and not do stupid plot devices. I'd say let some medical staff die as what really happened in NYS but there are so few actors as medical staff these days I don't know who they could kill off. Too bad Sonny and Carly aren't medical staff. Bobby of course is but I wouldn't want to see her killed off or Monica as we need our vets.

I want a bigger story for Finn. I'm one of those who like him and I have liked him since he was a vampire on PC.

P.S. I love it that our beloved Roxy is being such a good citizen. Then again what else would you expect from our girl and the real star of the show.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see a bunch of new characters created to fulfill diversity requirements. Pt. Chuck currently has a well fleshed-out extended black family, plus assorted other characters like Epiphany, Felix, Brick, Andrea, but they are definitely lacking in the Latin and Asian department.

Liz's mom was a brittle bitch to her. We heard of that early on when Liz was new to GH. Her mom was loving & supportive or Sarah but cold & critical of Liz. Her parents sent Sarah safely to Audrey's home to live but dumped Liz at a next door neighbor's in Colorado.

They have had no connection since. They never returned for her rape, her blindness, her dead son, etc...

I actually like LW as Carly, but only when she isn't actually around Sonny. The few times she is outside of Sonny's orbit, she is fine.

Why don't they use the Nurses Ball this year to help those destroyed by the Covid Virus as well as AIDS. They could talk about helping the unemployed and those who have no one to care for them at home or who can't afford masks and gloves and such or do a story about the hospital not having enough PPE to be safe. I think it would be a real waste and a shame not to use the show to do some good.

I also think the show should mention voting and registering to vote and show the young people saying how they can't wait until they turn 18 because voting is the most important thing a person can do. Agreed R128. And I’m not exactly sure about specific protocol but wouldn’t she have to isolate for a certain time before reporting to set, get tested, etc. Doesn’t seem like they can just call her up and have her report the next day after Kelly was sent home. I think there’s more to the story.

The recast actor would go through the same testing procedure that they all do on the show now. Take a test a day before you work. If you pass, you can show up on set.

The show needs to keep an ongoing list of possible short term replacements for all the leads. This is real life. Accidents can happen at any time and especially now if one of them fails a virus test.

If they keep AS in the role they need to pair her with an older man, such as Valentin or Julian. She was best on OLTL when she was paired with Clint.

I think some scenes were recorded after the shutdown and edited in. Remember before the shutdown they were stretching the episodes with flashbacks. I assume the new scenes took the place of the flashbacks. It is smart because it gave them some breathing room to get production ramped back up.

Just before the scene opened, they did an outside shot of the building with the caption "WSB Facility in Geneva, Switzerland" so I doubt Cyrus has any involvement. Wouldn't surprised me if he zeroed in on Dante after he returns, though, because he is going to be weak and vulnerable. The fact that he's Sonny's son would make it even more enticing.

I love Jeff Kober's portrayal of Cyrus. He has this wonderfully wry expression in his eyes when Cyrus pretends to be this law-abiding businessman but is in fact, laughing at how he's getting anyway with everything.

I understand that salon visits were probably restricted during that period, but she could have picked up a package of touch up dye at any drug store. It's not like she had some complex, multi-tonal color job, in fact it looked pretty flat and cheap. A darker shade of blonde might have blended out those roots better.

Bold & Beautiful seems to be adhering to strict six foot social distancing for its actors.

General Hospital not so much. While some scenes have the actors six feet or more apart, other scenes are clearly less than six. Some even like two feet.

I’ve noticed that too. They’ve been in each other’s faces, LW touched MB and then wiped tears from her eyes... the scene where Liz is done talking to Sonny and Carly thanks her, Herbst was practically scaling the wall trying to stand back. lol. Plus the NB coming up and the Ava party next week. They’ve even had more extras than they normally do.

There are 2 COVID compliance officers on GH at all times. If you read the Union/CDC guidelines they do not have to be 6 feet apart. They are allowed to tape scenes where they touch as long as it's done quickly & they put masks on once they finish. Soaps are 1 take so being quick isn't an issue.

If GH was breaking any guideline the COVID officer would contact the appropriate person & the actor/crew would contact their union rep. B&B is impossible to watch with their awkward blocking & kissing of blow up dolls.

B&B was the very first show to go back. The episodes we're seeing were some of the very first filmed. The social distancing is some scenes is awkward and some actors seem to feel nervous about doing some scenes. And yes, the kissing scenes are very awkward. And there are scenes where the characters clearly would give each other a hug upon seeing one another, but they don't and that's glaringly obvious.

GH is benefiting from going back almost a month after B&B did. They're learning from B&B's mistakes, seeing ways to make the show flow a bit better with these COVID guidelines. Plus the actors seem more comfortable in doing scenes together.

So, you're saying that each episode is comprised of some scenes that were produced pre-covid and others that were made after? Interesting.

What we are seeing on GH now was taped after they returned from hiatus. GH sat on 2 episodes that were taped pre-COVID and they aired Monday & Tuesday.

That's quick turn around, cast, crew and production must be working very long hours.

Not one character even bothers to say OMG, we should really call Monica and let her know her son is in the Hospital that she runs, in very serious condition.

Peter knew because he was there when the call came through. They called everyone else, Sam, Carly, Sonny, etc. but no one called Monica. It was especially stupid considering Sam and Jason aren't currently married. Therefore, before Carly proved she had his power of attorney, his next-of-kin responsible for giving permission to operate would have been Monica not Sam.

That would make sense because they don't tape full shows -- they tape scenes on sets and edit them together to make shows. The pandemic was just an interruption of that method.

Not everything that aired on Tuesday's episode was taped back in March before the shutdown. Any of the scenes with Lindsey Hartley was obviously filmed in the past few weeks.
