Alex got himself a boyfriend!
Miles isn't the best actor out of the cast but he was much better this season compared to the previous ones
|by Anonymous||reply 2||06/08/2020|
I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Miles and Charlie the way I did between M and Winston or even M and Zach.
Also, why do we have a new thread when the other has a lot of space left?
|by Anonymous||reply 3||06/08/2020|
R3 It's paywalled, what else.
Please link this thread in the previous one if you have access to it
|by Anonymous||reply 4||06/08/2020|
Alex and Winston had way more chemistry.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||06/08/2020|
I agree, r3. There was zero chemistry between the two actors/characters and Miles looked completely disconnected in their scenes together. The Alex/Winston scenes were definitely more believable and they made for a more intriguing pairing.

Ross Butler and Brandon Flynn Ask Each Other Anything
|by Anonymous||reply 7||06/08/2020|
Ross Butler isn’t handsome despite them trying to push him as such. There’s a reason his role was recast on Riverdale with Charles whatever
|by Anonymous||reply 8||06/08/2020|
Brandon Flynn has a weird face and looks like he smells bad. I Do find him charismatic and charming on screen though.
Ross Butler looks 40.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||06/08/2020|
Brandon looks like he smells, while Miles looks like he smells cookies.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||06/08/2020|
The prominent extra, in the red checkered suit, at the dance scenes of the prom, looks like amateur porn twink Zilv Gudel.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||06/08/2020|
Thank you OP for starting the thread.
Overall I loved the season. I was a bit bummed about the lack of whimsy in the opening credits though. Loved the drama and loved how Alex goes gay and dates two guys in the final season. The season is incredibly gay friendly and gay positive.
Was the scene of the new school administrator, Foundly (played by Reed Diamond) introducing his husband to Clay a callback to the scene in the first season where Tony told Clay that he was gay? Both times Clay is totally surprised.
No episodes were directed by Gregg Araki like in the previous seasons. What was that about? But Brenda Strong did some fantastic directing in the episode about the lockdown.
13RW wouldn't be 13RW without a tragic death. Loved that they reminded the viewers that AIDS is still out there killing people.
At some point I thought it would be revealed, in a Pretty Little Liars fashion, that Clay was drugged (by Winston?) somehow to get him all crazy and paranoid and to finally confess. Then they went with the football team playing games with him. It's interesting that Clay's hero complex, trying to save his friends, took a toll on Clay finally. And the show made a good point that Ari was into Clay for a similar reason (taking care of someone).
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/08/2020|
Fuck this show. Using HIV/AID'S in the exploitive way they did was unnecessary and implausible. I hope the writers on this show never work again. Cheap bullshit. Fuck them.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||06/09/2020|
How was a male prostitute addicted to heroine dying of HIV implausible?
|by Anonymous||reply 14||06/09/2020|
Winston should be with Tyler. Both of them enjoy photography, equally sensitive and been hurt by Monty. With all the shit he gone through Tyler deserved some kind of happy ending.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||06/09/2020|
The way Alex cut loose Winston right away after having learned why W got close to him seemed like art was imitating life. My delicate Miley did the same when Brandon did hurt his feelings.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||06/09/2020|
With all the shit he gone through Tyler deserved some kind of happy ending.
I thought he got one by dating Monty's little sister. They go to the Prom together.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||06/09/2020|
LOL @ the fact that gay actors can't escape the tired & shitty dying of AIDS trope even when playing a straight character. This show was trash.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||06/09/2020|
Who else thought Winston and Zach were going to kiss when they were high?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||06/09/2020|
The show is for teens and those teens don't share the same TV and movie history as most of us. I am sure for some teens an AIDS death wasn't as cliché a for some of us eldergays.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||06/09/2020|
R20 It’s dangerous to tell kids that HIV can escalate to AIDS in under a year. This show is supposed to take place in 2020, not 1986.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||06/09/2020|
It was more than a year. Justin was homeless and still using IV drugs (probably with dirty needles and risking reinfection). His existence was fraught and stressful. Not helpful for an immune system under attack. He also may have a been a Rapid Progressor. There’s also the theory that he was infected as a child by his mom’s boyfriend.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||06/09/2020|
The show made a point to mention that Justin rejected to be tested for HIV in the past. The virus remained untreated and unchallenged in his body to do its job.
And let's not forget how it was Justin who pushed Jessica away whenever she tried to make out with him claiming it was because of his sobriety. He knew what was going on, at the beginning of the season, even without official confirmation. She would've noticed the skin lesions. Clay was too busy with his own issues to notice.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||06/09/2020|
r16 I thought Brandon dumped Miles.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||06/09/2020|
I don't think it's that unlikely that an introvenious drug user and prostitute might end up with AIDS even these days.
On another subject... I noticed Charlie chose the tiara at the prom.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||06/09/2020|
R25 It was the polite thing to do. He was clearly very comfortable with his sexuality and knew giving Alex the crown would put him more at ease.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||06/09/2020|
Charlie and his cookies...
|by Anonymous||reply 27||06/09/2020|
Alex sitting practically in Charlie’s lap after his graduation was cute
|by Anonymous||reply 28||06/09/2020|
Love Alex's whiny "I have to go to every game?" at the end. LOL. He could've ended up in prison for life.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||06/09/2020|
Alex sitting practically in Charlie’s lap after his graduation was cute.
It is not like his first time turning his tops into mellow kittens.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||06/09/2020|
r30 Maybe they're just in love with each other. Have you considered that?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||06/09/2020|
When Justin Foley, played by Brandon Flynn, collapses at the high school prom he’s quickly rushed to hospital where he is tested and subsequently diagnosed as HIV positive. It is suggested that he may have contracted HIV because of his injecting drug use or while he was a sex worker. His condition then deteriorates within a matter of days and he quite quickly dies.
We will always call out things like this that lazily sensationalise HIV for dramatic effect. Justin’s story arc couldn’t be further from the reality of HIV for the vast majority of people who receive a positive diagnosis. And, as a message to the show’s young audience, is potentially really damaging if they’re hearing about HIV for the very first time.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||06/09/2020|
This was very sad. No one was really there for Justin when he found out about his mother overdosing. I wish there had been a bigger focus on him rather than on someone like Tony - who's boxing storyline was boring and redundant.
He was excited about getting into college but didn't even get to graduate high school.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||06/09/2020|
r33 This shows how bitchy and vindictive Miles is. Not only did he tell producers to kill off Brandon's character, but he forced them to make his character gay, just so he could kiss guys other than Connor. It was only when Miles demanded that Alex present hole at the prom that they drew the line.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||06/09/2020|
The community is shown as completely accepting of same sex relationships with happy parents, football players not batting an eye when the quarterback kisses a boy in school, the Prom Kings, etc.
I realize things are better now than when I grew up and we lived in fear. But surely, this is a total fantasy?
|by Anonymous||reply 35||06/09/2020|
It’s dangerous to tell kids that HIV can escalate to AIDS in under a year. This show is supposed to take place in 2020, not 1986.
The depiction of mental illness was also dangerous. Hallucinations and amnesia are very serious symptoms, indicating psychosis rather than anxiety. Clay never even told his doctor about the hallucinations. He Commits serious acts of vandalism, twice threatens people with guns, leads a school riot, runs away from the hospital and faces no consequences. Instead, he is well enough to speak at graduation and go off to an Ivy League college after a short course of talk therapy.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||06/09/2020|
R33 Brandon Flynn’s acting was outstanding here. Can someone please give him an award for this scene alone.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||06/09/2020|
The craziest thing about this show is that the cast seems to really love it. You just don’t see interviews like this from the Riverdale stars, who openly mock their show and already had several main characters ask to be released from their contracts.
It makes me think the atmosphere on set was mostly good, with the exception of your usual small fires like two cast members hooking up (Brandon and Miles).
|by Anonymous||reply 38||06/09/2020|
Good comment I saw on reddit re: Justin’s diagnosis
First off, HIV, left untreated, IS still a death sentence. In 1989 and in 2019.
Secondly, then and now, there are many people who are completely unaware of their HIV status, who have no idea that their CD4 count is literally 150, or 63, or zero (normal = 500+), or how eminently precarious their health is because they feel fine, perhaps have been only mildly symptomatic, and they only find out their status when they present to a physician with an AIDS-defining illness (Justin had at least three) and require hospitalization. My father is an ID doctor and he sees this far more often than you would think, and he has said that it is one of the hardest things for him to deal with because of how preventable it is. People show up at the ER with shortness of breath and get diagnosed with pneumocystis pneumonia, or see a derm about the odd "bruise" on their arm that wont go away (KS), or visit the eye doctor because their vision is suddenly dimming (CMV), or they've had a seizure because they have encephalitis caused by Toxoplasmosis, or... This happens far less frequently than it did, but it still happens.
Justin's progression from initial infection to AIDS is also not unrealistic. I've read repeatedly in this forum that it takes 10 years for HIV to progress to AIDS as if that were some kind of unbreakable rule, when in reality, 10 years is at the upper end of what is actually a broad span of time. Three to eight years is typical. But there is a subset of the population (perhaps 10%) who will progress without treatment far more rapidly (termed Rapid Progressors) than usual. For them, it could take three years or even (sometimes significantly) less. With Justin's fraught and stressful existence, and then continued use of IV drugs (perhaps with unsanitary needles and thus potential for reinfection), it is not unreasonable that he might become seriously ill faster than someone who wasn't dealing with those obstacles.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||06/09/2020|
R33 how can anyone be there for Justin after he found out his mother died when he told no one but Clays parents, and told them not to tell Clay? No one knew!
|by Anonymous||reply 40||06/09/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 41||06/09/2020|
Why didn’t Katherine Langford get to speak?
|by Anonymous||reply 42||06/09/2020|
R42 Because they didn’t even ask her back, they used a hologram.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||06/09/2020|
R33 you must have forgotten Justin didn’t want anyone to know about his mom.
PS Brandon was terrific this season. I loved him in this scene.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||06/09/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 45||06/09/2020|
The DL fantasy final season would have Alex get together with Justin!
|by Anonymous||reply 46||06/09/2020|
Justin was hetero.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||06/09/2020|
Justin was gay for pay.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||06/09/2020|
Justin was gay for drug money.

r46 No mine was for Clay to realise he has the worst luck with girls, and that he's sharing a room with a trained rentboy.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||06/09/2020|
R50 Sure that's been explored in fanfics.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||06/09/2020|
Laugh all you want, Brandon and Miles always had real chemistry on screen. Even in their fight scenes it looked like they wanted to fuck.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||06/09/2020|
What was Clay gay for?
|by Anonymous||reply 53||06/09/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 54||06/09/2020|
r53 Mental health

R39 thank you for sharing this. I hate this attitude of some young people that HIV is no big deal.
The community is shown as completely accepting of same sex relationships with happy parents, football players not batting an eye when the quarterback kisses a boy in school, the Prom Kings, etc. I realize things are better now than when I grew up and we lived in fear. But surely, this is a total fantasy? Gaylings?
This was a high school in the SF Bay Area. Obviously it’s going to be a lot more liberal than a high school in Texas.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||06/09/2020|
R57 homophobia is everywhere. But they would be more accepting than TX, or NYC for that matter.
But it is fantasy. Many fans of the show hated the prom scene when everyone was thrilled two gays won, especially after the show depicted homophobia etc. from the jocks many times throughout the series.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||06/09/2020|
The gay quarterback also used the word faggot last season.
They just desperately needed a happy ending for Alex, who tried to kill himself in literally almost every season of this show. He was hands down the most miserable character.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||06/09/2020|
Alex/Miles kinda looking like Logan Lerman here
|by Anonymous||reply 60||06/09/2020|
Miles looks better with the weight loss.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||06/09/2020|
The actor who plays Monty is turning 34 this year. So crazy.
Casting Dr Ellis Grey as Justin’s Doctor is perfect casting.
At prom, I was hoping that Clay would ash his mother for a dance and when he did I was so happy I started crying. It was probably my favourite moment in the series. MARY!
|by Anonymous||reply 62||06/09/2020|
It would have better if Charlie's football crush was Aaron Rodgers.
Seriously, this show is basically trauma porn. Because rapes, suicides, shootings weren't enough, they actually gave a character AIDS and have him die after his mom's overdose.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||06/09/2020|
I'm still watching and trying to avoid spoilers, so am skimming the threads. I'm sure this is mentioned somewhere, but a big WTF about the car accident. The driver didn't have a single scratch on them and it's not mentioned by anyone other than two lines between the two people who were in it? This season is a shitshow.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||06/09/2020|
Screen Junkies should do an Honest Trailer of this Season.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||06/09/2020|
The actor who plays Monty is turning 34 this year. So crazy.
The actor is of Filipino descent so it’s no surprise with those eternally youthful Asian genetics.

He’s HALF Asian

From a new interview with Alisha Boe:
Boe is sheltering-in-place in a location she asks to remain between us, where she is weathering the COVID-19 pandemic with her unnamed boyfriend (they’ve chosen to keep his identity under wraps for reasons Boe tells me are personal).
What in the fuck? Does she think she’s Madonna?
|by Anonymous||reply 68||06/10/2020|
It has been a torture watch this girl whereas Brandon was outstanding this season.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||06/10/2020|
She was good.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||06/10/2020|
She was much better this season compared to the previous ones where she was unbearable to watch (that screechy acting !).
Ani was better this season as well. I still don't understand why they made her the narrator in season 3 and the most obvious plot device, so lazy.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||06/10/2020|
Ani was good this season and her character made more likable
|by Anonymous||reply 72||06/10/2020|
Ani was good this season because they cut back on her scenes
|by Anonymous||reply 73||06/10/2020|
And made her realize she was a busy body and start to learn who she is.
The scene with her and Bryce’s mom was lovely.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||06/10/2020|
Ani was gone for 2-3 episodes. That was a good choice.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||06/10/2020|
R68 She’s in Italy.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||06/10/2020|
Christian Navarro posted on his IG stories today that he’s selling greetings on Cameo. Did he burn through the 13RW money that fast?
|by Anonymous||reply 77||06/10/2020|
Wonder what he spent the $150,000 an episode on
Navarro stars as Tony Padilla, Clay’s best friend at Liberty High School who helps him deal with Hannah’s death. Tony is also who sends the tapes to Hannah’s bullies after Hannah gives them to him before her death. Navarro made between $20,000 and $60,000 per episode in season 1 as one of the supporting cast members on the show. After negotiations before season 3, he received a pay bump to $135,000 per episode. He received another raise in season 4 to be paid $150,000 per episode, which would’ve paid him $1.5 million if he appeared in all 10 episodes.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||06/10/2020|
Christian is hideous
|by Anonymous||reply 79||06/10/2020|
The blond hair was a choice.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||06/10/2020|
Don’t they require protective headgear in boxing? Those scenes really bugged me.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||06/10/2020|
Ani was good this season because they cut back on her scenes
She was good this season since she wasn't up in everyone's business.
I realize things are better now than when I grew up and we lived in fear. But surely, this is a total fantasy? Gaylings?
Where I grew up in the early 00s, it would have been fine but I also lived in the city in a liberal area. These kids would be even better off than we were. Actually no one even wanted to be prom King or Queen in my school.
Good comment I saw on reddit re: Justin’s diagnosis
That's one comment while countless experts and activists have weighed in that it's just unrealistic.
I think the problem is that it was clearly meant to make the show as sensational as possible. He went from having enough energy to dance at the prom to dying in a matter of weeks. Their mother says that they got him the best GP and he had a physical but his doctor said that he refused to be tested. However, the guy also went into rehab separately where as a former IV drug user they would have really pushed for it. He also previously told Jessica so it wasn't a complete secret.
Also Clay's parents were obsessive about Clay's mental state back in season one but didn't care in season four (or notice their son was snapping) nor did they notice Justin didn't just have the "flu." They would have. His parents in season one would have dragged his ass to the doctor as soon as they saw he was sick.
If they were so hell bent on killing him off before graduation they should have just had the character OD which would have been overall much more realistic for his situation. On a better show he would have lived with it and maybe taught kids (the audience this show was supposed to be for) about it.
One thing I will say about Justin Flynn is that all of the gossip surrounding his relationships off screen notwithstanding he is a great actor. I think this was the first time I ever really noticed.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||06/10/2020|
r78 "How can you possibly expect someone to live on only $150,000 an episode?"
|by Anonymous||reply 83||06/10/2020|
R82 Actor Justin Flynn, Lol.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||06/10/2020|
R84, WOOPS! Sorry! Combined his character's name with his name. Brandon Flynn.
Justin Foley played by Brandon Flynn. There we go.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||06/10/2020|
Alisha and Brandon apparently didn't like each other at all in the beginning, Lol!
|by Anonymous||reply 86||06/11/2020|
Lol, Alisha’s Bratz commercial.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||06/11/2020|
A lot of people don’t like Brandon. And he looks like he doesn’t shower
|by Anonymous||reply 88||06/11/2020|
Alisha calls out Brandon for wanting a sugar daddy in this interview. He says he would date a 13RW fan depending on their age - and she’s like “Oh yeah, you want someone 20 years older.”
I take back every mean thing I said about her.

13 Reasons: Why The Final Season?
|by Anonymous||reply 90||06/11/2020|
R88 it’s the “Brandon looks like he smells” troll. They pop up and a lot of Brandon threads. It’s funny to think that’s the worst thing they can accuse him off.
he looks like he doesn’t shower
Who does in Hollywood world these days?
|by Anonymous||reply 92||06/11/2020|
The Netflix series 13 Reasons Why is facing backlash and widespread criticism for having one of the show's characters suddenly die of AIDS complications shortly after learning he is HIV-positive in the season four finale. The controversial plot twist centers around Justin Foley, played by Brandon Flynn, a recovering heroin addict who worked as a sex worker when he was homeless. In the final episode of season four, he collapsed at prom and was rushed to the hospital. Justin was diagnosed with HIV that had developed into AIDS after being left untreated and soon died, but his tragic end didn't sit well with many viewers who slammed the show for the 'backwards' and 'sensationalized' storyline.

Omg. HE HAD IT FOR YEARS. THE SHOW MAKES IT A POINT TO MENTION HE DECLINED HAVING IT CHECKED.
People are so stupid.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||06/11/2020|
So glad Alex came out.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||06/11/2020|

Not everyone needs to label themselves.
Omg. HE HAD IT FOR YEARS. THE SHOW MAKES IT A POINT TO MENTION HE DECLINED HAVING IT CHECKED. People are so stupid.
Are you okay?
If he had it for years the show would have [bold]told you[/bold] before this year or even [italic]remotely implied it.[/italic] Then no one would have a problem with any of this.
It did not.
They decided the character had it last minute and it shows.
|by Anonymous||reply 97||06/11/2020|
R96 THAT WAS HIM COMING OUT.
|by Anonymous||reply 98||06/11/2020|

Alex and Winston's relationship wouldn't work because they were both bottoms.
|by Anonymous||reply 100||06/11/2020|
R100 They should have given us an Alex/Winston sex scene. I can’t believe Miles was the only male actor on the show to do any sort of nudity and it was in a sex scene with... a woman.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||06/11/2020|
This is the final season. They weren’t showing sex. Move on.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||06/11/2020|
Also Alex was afraid of having sex with a guy. He told Clay to come to the prom to keep an eye out in case “Charlie tried to make a move.”
|by Anonymous||reply 103||06/11/2020|
R103 Why is he gay again? Is he saving it for marriage?
|by Anonymous||reply 104||06/11/2020|
No. He’s new. It’s very normal for someone to be scared their first time or not wanna rush it. Not everyone is a whore.
|by Anonymous||reply 105||06/11/2020|
r101, we saw Tyler's naked ass a couple of times.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||06/11/2020|
R106 We also saw Bryce.
And obviously there was that sex scene with Winston and Monty but I can’t remember if there’s much shown anatomically.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||06/11/2020|
Miles' sex scene last season was the most explicit in the entire series.
|by Anonymous||reply 108||06/11/2020|
If only they had upped the ante this season.
Though I suppose considering how long the character took to have sex the first time it would have probably been weird to have him just jump into bed with someone. The het actors also may not have been down.
The Charlie character parallels the Zach character in a lot of ways, and I’m starting to wonder if the plan was for Zach to originally be the guy Alex got with but maybe Ross didn’t want to do it. I saw a cast interview recently and Alisha and Brandon both gushed about Zalex being their favorite ship while Ross went crickets.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||06/11/2020|

Justin and Jessica having sex last season was a very hot scene too, remember?
|by Anonymous||reply 113||06/12/2020|
R100 Are you sure? Alex got the crown and Charlie got the tiara.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||06/12/2020|
Alex and Zach slow danced once, Alex got hard under Zach’s ministrations before, Zach being generally protective of Alex...
Zalex could have worked if they sprinkled a few more clues about them (and particularly Zach being bi) throughout the previous seasons, but to do it now would have looked forced (as it kind of does with Alex, though him “reading“ as gay helps).

Ross was actually accused by fans for queerbaiting with the Alex/Zach storyline, adding the hashtag #zalex to his Instagram posts and calling them Batman and Robin... so I doubt he’s homophobic.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||06/12/2020|
I'm glad they didn't go with Zach and Alex. No need to let the tumblr fangirls get what they want.
|by Anonymous||reply 119||06/12/2020|
That doesn’t make one not homophobic any more than it makes them homophobic. When money is involved, and you’re in the public eye you can’t be homophobic. Doesnt mean you aren’t.

Tyler Barnhardt (Charlie) wishes you happy Pride
Hey y’all! Season 4 has been out for a week now and I just wanted to say thank you so much for the love and support. I’m so happy you all love Charlie as much as I do. It truly was an honor to get to portray such a strong and caring character who at the end of the day likes people for people ❤️ Happy Pride to everyone that is celebrating this month! Let’s continue to fight for equality all around the world.
|by Anonymous||reply 121||06/12/2020|
Love that a straight actor is so comfortable saying Happy Pride and yet Miles Heizer will not only refuse to acknowledge his gay character, but will never acknowledge Pride month or even the man who’s sharing his bed.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||06/12/2020|
Leave daddy alone.
|by Anonymous||reply 123||06/12/2020|
You’re small minded it saying Happy Pride means that much to you

Brandon's upcoming film, it looks pretty funny
|by Anonymous||reply 126||06/12/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 127||06/12/2020|
R126 I thought it was going to be a dark thriller, but this looks much more interesting as a Black Comedy and I think that it’s a good switch up for him after all the angst and trauma of 13 Reasons.

Devin Druid interview
|by Anonymous||reply 129||06/12/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 130||06/12/2020|
Just finished the finale, I can’t stop crying as I’m writing this. 😭
|by Anonymous||reply 131||06/13/2020|
It really hit me hard when Clay looked at Justin's empty bed for the last time. Poor boy was never meant to have a happy ending. AIDS? That was merciless.
|by Anonymous||reply 132||06/13/2020|
So Miles is seriously doing zero press/talking to gay outlets about this season? It's Pride Month and his character made a major gay turn, I expected him to at least say something about its positive message or whatever. Very odd.
|by Anonymous||reply 133||06/13/2020|
R133 I just watched that Devin Druid interview above and he spoke so beautifully and eloquently about how much he loved the Alex and Charlie storyline and how important he thinks it was. Its a shame that Miles seems to just not give a fuck at all about promoting the show.
|by Anonymous||reply 134||06/13/2020|
His management still thinks no one knows he's gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 135||06/13/2020|
As a gay man, maybe he’s offended by the medically inaccurate, offensive, and downright dangerous way this show portrayed HIV/AIDS? Any self respecting person under the LGBT umbrella would be ashamed to be associated with this trash fire.
|by Anonymous||reply 136||06/13/2020|
A terribly executed virtue signal
|by Anonymous||reply 137||06/14/2020|
Lol is Ross Butler ok?
I know #zalex didn't quite pan out the way some expected, but in life, sometimes it doesn't, right? Can't the person you like, who doesn't like you back the same way, still like you? Now when you replace "like" with "love," why does it become so much more complicated? Because there is more emotion involved? Doesn't that mean we should be there for one another even more?
|by Anonymous||reply 138||06/14/2020|
He’s either high or dumb as fuck.
|by Anonymous||reply 139||06/14/2020|
R137 that article made even less sense than the show
|by Anonymous||reply 140||06/14/2020|
Lol at two of Miles’ straight love interests fighting over him in the comments and yet his gay ass can’t be bothered to acknowledge the storyline in any capacity. Go girl, give us nothing.
|by Anonymous||reply 141||06/14/2020|
Can someone translate what he means?
|by Anonymous||reply 142||06/14/2020|
R142 The fans are angry that Zach and Alex didn’t end up together so he’s trying to appease them by saying they still love eachother as friends.
|by Anonymous||reply 143||06/14/2020|
Ross also posted it to Twitter and is getting pretty roasted.
|by Anonymous||reply 144||06/14/2020|
Fraus are still not over the ending so they started a petition on Change.org
|by Anonymous||reply 145||06/14/2020|
R145 Those crazy fraus! No show will ever satisfy them completely.
|by Anonymous||reply 146||06/14/2020|
They should just stick to fanfiction if they want Zach and Alex to fuck.
|by Anonymous||reply 147||06/14/2020|
The elusive Miles speaks
|by Anonymous||reply 148||06/14/2020|
But if they would make some random football player gay, why not just make Zach bi or just questioning enough to indulge Alex for the prom? I mean it's the last season so it's not like they have to write any more stories for the characters.
|by Anonymous||reply 149||06/14/2020|
The Change.org petition is hilarious and way over the top, but I don’t blame anyone wanting to see Zach and Alex together. They definitely played this season like there was more going on than just friendship with those two. Not to mention, the image of those two together is definitely hotter than the other couple pairings.
Still, a change.org spinoff petition? Like we need any more of the 13RW universe.
|by Anonymous||reply 150||06/14/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 154||06/14/2020|
R152 Miles should guest star on Love, Victor so they can finally make his character gay like it was supposed to be.
|by Anonymous||reply 155||06/14/2020|
Actually, I take it back. His character was bisexual
|by Anonymous||reply 156||06/14/2020|
I think I’m going to start this tonight ... does Miles’ acting get any better since he gets to make out with boys this season?
|by Anonymous||reply 157||06/14/2020|
Yes. He's a lot more emotionally open.
|by Anonymous||reply 158||06/14/2020|
Brandon and Dylan were the ones who really pushed for Justin dying:
I remember all season Brandon and I were specifically hoping that it would be Justin, and we were pushing for it and we would plead to Brian making the case of why we feel like it should be him, because he and I both felt that it would have the biggest emotional impact on the series given Justin's entire arc. Of course it's devastating and tragic and we know that people would love to see him survive, but I think that's what makes it all the more powerful. Obviously it's the most depressing move the show could make, but I feel like it's also in line with the show to make that choice in the last episode, to make the most devastating choice. It feels really poetic because the biggest arc of a relationship that Clay has had in the show is with Justin. The first conversation you see Clay have with anyone in the very first episode is with Justin, and it's actually Clay's first lines of the show. They're clearly enemies in season 1, and then it goes all the way to them loving each other more than anyone and becoming brothers and holding his hand on his deathbed. It's also the last conversation between Clay and any of the students — it's in Clay's head, but the college essay scene. It feels like the perfect bookend because the finale sort of feels like the story of Justin and the first episode did because he was the first tape. I feel like it was a strong choice to make and as devastating as it is, I am so happy that Brian ended up making the decision to do it because it just felt right. If we were going to do it to anyone, I feel like we needed to go there and put the bookend on it.
The college essay scene gets me the most when I watch it, without fail, and I think the reason is because all Clay ever wanted to be, throughout the entire course of the series, was somebody's positive influence, in particularly Hannah's. He's had to deal with the guilt and grief of never being able to be that for her, and it's all he ever wanted. He always has wanted to be a hero and always wanted to save someone and to be the positive influence in their life, and he has failed spectacularly many times. He's also succeeded sometimes, but never in the way he wants, and it's sort of been the downfall of him. But in the end, hearing from Justin, the person he loves most, that he was his brother and his positive influence, I think that's why watching it I'm so happy with the decision and it gets me every time. I'm really proud of the ending for that reason because I feel like there's a lot of perfect full-circle moments.
|by Anonymous||reply 159||06/15/2020|
I don't mind that Justin died, I just think it could've been done better.
|by Anonymous||reply 160||06/15/2020|
Yeah, sounds like they wanted Justin to die for the emotional wallop it would bring, but the way it was handled was all on the shitty writing. He should have OD’ed.
|by Anonymous||reply 161||06/15/2020|
Oh, that would have been 10x worse.

|by Anonymous||reply 165||06/15/2020|
If he ODed there’d be no series of tearful goodbyes, no dramatic hospital vigils.
|by Anonymous||reply 166||06/15/2020|
Brandon did a good job with these videos but it’s still gross that the show is justifying that offensive storyline.
The one positive thing you can say about 13RW though is that it seems the actors really were all drinking the Kool-Aid and actually thought they were on a good show. They all seem to really like their jobs, unlike the cast of Riverdale.
|by Anonymous||reply 167||06/15/2020|
If they'd given him Hep C would everyone be having seizures over it?
|by Anonymous||reply 168||06/15/2020|

I've recently started following Devin Druid on social media and he seems like such a sweetheart. He's definitely one of the better actors on the show.

He's also one of the youngest, which makes it all the more amazing. R170
|by Anonymous||reply 171||06/15/2020|

R172 Because she's a faux feminist character?
|by Anonymous||reply 173||06/15/2020|

There were no further suicides. There were other deaths, however.

Ross Butler confirms the Zalex kiss was pure fan service for the shippers.

Final season = No need to keep the pervs happy
|by Anonymous||reply 220||06/30/2020|
The ending was deliberate to warn 20 somethings that they need to get on hiv meds quickly if they're diagnosed, as many leave it, esp if they aren't insured, thinking the disease will take about eight years to develop. This isn't always the case and you can die much sooner of AIDS pneumonia or AIDS meningitis.

|by Anonymous||reply 226||07/05/2020|
R226 Yeah but I'm assuming everyone at that school knew about the tapes. The idiot characters on this show aren't the best at keeping secrets.

Ani was such a fucking annoying character. Nobody cared about her bossy ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 228||07/05/2020|
R228 If they wanted to appease the fans they should have had Ani be one of the deaths that happened in season four, presumably early and awful.

Justin and Jessica were by far the most popular characters in 13RW that's why they killed him, even Brian Yorkey has admitted to it, they did the same with Poussey Washington in Orange is the New Black.
Clay was the least interesting character in this show, I found myself more often than not, wanting to kill him and that British chick, who will forever be remembered as the worst addition to a TV show in recent memory, truly atrocious writing (good actress though).
The AIDS storyline was jumping the shark big time.

Will he be able to transition into more adult roles? I doubt he'll get cast as a teenager again. He is very one-note as an actor, sadly.
I really wish I could give Tony one more go. Too much unfinished, unwritten, too much story untold. What happened to his family? What’s the deal with the Cartel in s3? Does he box professionally? Is he out and proud while he fights? A whole world unexplored.
Here’s the pitch: Tony Padilla finds himself homeless and alone in Los Angeles after losing his college scholarship and dropping out. Living in his Mustang, he contemplates selling her for good to make a few ends meet. While in LA he bumps into an old friend, Officer Ted Wynn, @MattPassmore11 newly transferred to LAPD from Evergreen County. Wynn is chasing demons and Tony is running away from his. With his family deported in Mexico, barely surviving amidst the current climate of political tension and uncertainty, Tony decides to fight professionally. He wants to be the first openly gay boxing world champion. Will he rise through the ranks? Or will his past hunt him down? Officer Wynn, and a few names from the past help point Tony in the direction he needs to go, but as we all know Tony Padilla is unapologetically himself, and does what he needs to do for the ones he loves.

|by Anonymous||reply 252||Last Saturday at 1:31 PM|
God, he's annoying.
A few months ago I went through a tough breakup, the show i’d been working on came to an end, Covid took the world by storm, and i was thousands of miles away from my family and friends. I was sad. Really sad. I’d made mistakes that contributed to that sadness, and where I would normally throw myself into my work in order to rebound, I had no work to work on. People in the public eye often don’t come clean about these kinds of struggles. So I just wanted to speak directly to the people out there who (inexplicably to me) draw any sort of support or inspiration from my journey, and say: It’s okay to hurt, to cry, to feel. To make mistakes. So long as you remember to fail forward. And continue to grow. Remember the world can change in a day and just because you’re down today, doesn’t mean you won’t get up tomorrow. I gave myself a few weeks to recover. And then got back in the gym, started writing, and living for my two fur daughters. I’m happy and healthy and back at work, doing what I love. Entertaining you. Happy Sunday. With all my love. CLN
