Michelle really laid it out for him, as far as making it to the final five, but he wouldn't listen.

I guess he thought he could trust the white people, over the black guy.

Jeremy really should have fought hard to build his old alliance with Denise and Nick.

Nick and Denise should have realized that they are at the bottom of the pecking order with Sarah, Tony and Ben.

Instead, they could have aligned with Jeremy and Michelle, and then voted out Sarah or Ben.

R1, I've been so disappointed in the lack of Adam in any actual capacity recently. I know why, but he's not a physical threat, so couple that the complete lack of screentime, or even talking heads just tell me he likely isn't the one coming back. I loved what a chatterbox he was, and I loved his increasingly high-pitched narration. Adam bitching about Ben will never not be funny.

It was sad to see Nick go. He was the last eye candy left.

R17 Tony actually was very sick after he got back from his original season. He thought he picked up some parasite (no, not Sarah) or something. He lost a lot of weight and muscle mass and had problem putting it back on. Since it's been several years since then, it might have messed up his somewhat, since he can only get back up to fit-fat level at best.

I was watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion on Sunday, and they did it Brady Bunch style, with 9 boxes and the host in the center.

And then the producers would cut to individual shots every now and then.

It wasn't the best, but it worked out alright.

R39, contestants have undoubtedly told Jeff to STFU. I remember Courteney telling him once. Nick seemed annoyed at Jeff's challenge commentary this season, telling his teammates to ignore him.

Yeah, I heard Nick telling them to ignore him. I'm sure many have said similar (or cursing him), but they hardly ever make it to the show like Nick's did. Jeff's an annoying pain in the ass. Yes, he's a producer, but how did he even get the gig in the first place -- was he known before "Survivor" turned into a hit?

R44, he hosted Rock & Roll Jeopardy on VH1 I think. I don't mind Probst so much as a host, but as a producer, he sucks! He's at least partially responsible for doing away with a lot of the things many fans miss about the older seasons.

R45, Natalie returning AND winning would be a hilarious ending to this season. I would actually be OK with that. I really cannot stand Sarah and can't wait to see her get her comeuppance.

Each of the 3 has a good case to make. Michele was left for dead week after week and survived. Natalie was a fucking BEAST the whole game and really broke up the game when she came back. Tony has played well and towards the cameras

I feel bad that Michele didn't get any votes. Not too surprising. She really hung in there when no one was willing to work with her, except when it was convenient to them. Yet she worked her way in there and managed to make it to end again. I think she redeemed herself and showed that she's better than many gave her credit for. I think the producers thought that also, because they chose to show her in mostly flattering light.

I think Sophie was still sick, R96. She missed the previous tribal and Jeff said it was because she wasn't feeling well.

That finale was such a slog. I can't remember being less excited about a finale, even on seasons I didn't necessarily like.

It just felt like nobody gave a shit. Everything was so paint by numbers this season.

After so many years of fans talking about how epic an all winners season would be now that this is over it really turned out to be a dud.

I found it very interesting that Probst put so much emphasis on encouraging younger players even ones as young as 16-18 to apply for the upcoming seasons. I think Co-vid 19 is going to make them cast much younger players more than ever. Probably few people over 40. Younger people tend to have stronger immune systems and would be likely to take a risk than older people with kids.

Hopefully they will get some interesting ones though. They managed to find quite a few for Millennials vs. Gen X.

Tony deserved to win. Duh. But it’s absolutely disgusting that Michele didn’t get second place. The fuck was Parvati thinking? She votes for the day 2 boot? This season sucked.

Why was Denise such a cipher in that group of 4, it seemed like it was Tony, Sarah, and Ben in the lead with her hanging around and doing what they told her. She never formed a strategy for making it to the end. It's like she was content after her flashy move that took out Sandra and then seemingly waited around to be a vote for the other three knowing she'd be cut when they didnt need her anymore.

Glad to see Sophie smiling & well at the finale. She was neither at the final tribal, after missing the penultimate one due to illness.

I think Tony sitting in the tree by the water well was very clever innovation, I’m surprised we have not seen that in the previous 39 editions, so maybe for that alone he deserved the 2 million

R117 We saw her strategy last week, she was working on convincing Ben and Sarah that Tony was the biggest threat. It makes sense from her point of view that she thought they could be convinced since it was so obvious to everyone else that Tony was the biggest threat. She just didn't realise how stupid loyal Ben and Sarah were. Their stupidity and loyalty to him was only obvious to us because we saw their confessionals. We also know Denise was also close to Ben since the start, he was the one who helped her find her idol, so she probably thought she could eventually get through to him.

In all of his seasons, this was the first time The Slob has made it to the jury, and he was every bit as insufferable as I imagined he would be.

Ambuh was a total dud. She admitted that she was only there to support her Hubster and she even admitted that she didn't deserve to win her All Star season. What a doormat! She stole a spot from another female Survivor winner (Tina, Vecepia, Jenna, Natalie White) who at least would have put some effort into winning.

I think Natalie's only possible mistake was not pitting Michele against Tony for fire. Michele looked like she might have had a good shot. At the same time, she saved us from the awful possibility of both Sarah and Tony in the F3!

Listening to Michelle, I knew she wouldn't win. Her story wasn't compelling, and she lacks charisma.

Natalie tried hard, and I thought she had a shot.

But Tony's personality (strangely) is what won him the money. During tribal, he was really engaging and likable. More than I've ever known him to be.

That was pretty awful watching the torrential rain fall on those jury members wearing their finest clothing and makeup for the finale. You would think they could have strung up a tarp over them or something. I didn't derive any satisfaction watching them shiver...

HATED that one and done winner announcement. Why couldn't they do a zoom call with all of them? Add on an extra hour for another week?

I agree, R145. That was stupid. They should’ve just done a regular reunion on Zoom. All the questions are preplanned anyway. And we might’ve gotten some authentic answers and maybe some drama without the response of the studio audience coloring their commentary.

I think the fact that there was no live reunion is because a) Jeff wanted to hog the spotlight all to himself, and b) Jeff can't handle a live show on his own. He's not smart enough.

If you listen to his dialogue on each episode, and during the reunions, he is totally scripted. TOTALLY scripted.

A live Zoom reunion would mean that Jeff would have to conduct interviews on the fly, and he was probably too chickenshit to do that. We'd all see what an empty airhead he really is.

This way, it was a win-win for him. More airtime for the camera hog, and no need to do any heavy lifting.

Tony pretty much won the vote from Tribal council. Survivor was supposed to be the most shocking and controversial season ever, but it wasn’t. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the other tribal members in the finale. But, glad Rob and Ambuh didn’t win.

He had the jury laughing and smiling, which is really hard to do. Juries are usually bitter with all the finalists.

Jeff even pointed out that people had been burned by Tony, but none of them held it against him.

Whether it was real or fake, it all had to do with his social game. His personality.

Hopefully this will decrease the God worship of Rob. One one win out of five tries? Give me a break.

I knew Michelle was not going to win after she confessed she relied on other people to pull her along in both of her seasons.

Natalie was so smug after returning to the game, I think the jury did not like it. I think most Survivor fans would have been pissed if she had won. Why watch 14 weeks if all the other players who got close to the finale are so actively engaged all season long and then Natalie steals it away?

I enjoyed watching Tony the whole season. He made me laugh SO many times. He didn't receive a single vote at any of the tribal councils and always seemed he was two steps ahead of everyone else. He deserved the win. Now I think he is sexy. I would gladly give him a blow job for a few tokens.

Survivor invented these stupid twists like EoE and the token economy and Natalie was completely committed at successful at winning nearly every grueling challenge; and she was as involved as much as a person possibly could be from the EoE, influencing the parallel game going on with the remaining tribes. She had to do it all on her own without food, comforts or alliances. When she came back into the game she absolutely did dismantle the final four alliance and worked with Michele to continue playing. Unfortunately she was not able to eliminate Tony, but I don't think she should have gambled her final position to personally try to beat him in the fire challenge.

So given these producer imposed twists that can allow an eliminated player to come back at the end what more could a player possibly do to deserve to win more than Natalie did in this season? And given the male superiority bias, if a guy had the same come back story as Natalie, how likely is it he would he get enough votes to win?

It was kind of weird to see Tony receive the news of his $2 million win in a room that looked absolutely huge with which he probaby bought from his first million dollar win from the show. I don't know why folks put down Natalie from being on Exile Island -- she was still playing the game over there with different challenges for fire tokens, even if she wasn't going to tribal councils like the folks on the regular tribes. She was feared as a physical threat from the beginning which was why she was voted out so quickly. But it's not like she was at Ponderosa getting catered food and her hair done when she came back and won her way back into the game.

Not only was she a physical threat, she also found many of the advantages which allowed her to barter for more fire tokens (stupidest twist, but you gotta play with what you're dealt) and while she didn't control the game, her hand affected parts of it.

Jeff and production like a certain type of player, usually an obnoxious guy who talks a lot and acts giddy for the camera during confessionals. Tony, Ben,Russel Hantz, Mike the winner from the blue collar/white collar season are all examples. There is a tacit understanding between them and the show that if they go out looking for idols there will always be one for them when they need it.

I'll never be convinced they are that great at finding idols; Im sure other people look as well in the same obvious spots but there is nothing there and the camera crew doesn't follow them so they realize it will be fruitless.

R242---That's what's so awful about the EoE---two separate games are going on and the one hour show time doesn't allow enough time with the people still in the original game when showing bits of the Edge people,. or enough of the edge people to know more than the minimum about what's happening over there. Turns out plenty goes on and it has a lot of relevance to the winning outcome. If they didn't have 90 or 120 minute episodes to pack it all into, they could have extended the season and had every 3rd or 4th episode cover the Edge challenges, dynamics and suffering. Or do a 2 hour episode every 4th week to catch everyone up.

There were no upfronts this year so few pilots have even been picked up. It is safer to have reruns in the summer and move any first-run content to the fall to plug the gap. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the last season of TAR. It's very risky since the whole premise is the contestants traveling abroad.

The Amazing Race gas sucked since they started introducing U-Turns and other shit that turned the show into more a "scripted" drama-driven show than just seeing individual teams struggle and persist. And it's been even worse since the blind date season. At one point, it was my favorite TV show ever (I know, MARY!) but I haven't watched a complete season since the one with the blind dates

TAR 100% has bad ratings. It used to be a very stable performer, but whereas Survivor and Big Brother have maintained their powerful demos (compared to the competition) TAR has not.

Well CBS has to share some of the blame for bad ratings. For years they insisted on keeping it on Sunday nights following NFL which always ran late so it either started mid-show or started late and people's DVR's didn't adjust. I'm on the West Coast so it didn't affect me but I remember the threads here dying a slow death as East Coast viewers gave up on it. Then when the ratings kept dropping they moved it to a summer timeslot and never gave it much promotion.
