I think the bowl of moss can become as big a star as Roxy the painted dragon.
I think we give the bowl of moss a name. I suggest Mossy.
Mossy is privy to a lot of Corinthos secrets. If only Mossy could talk!

What is the moss living on? Rocks glued together but that would make for a very heavy centerpiece. Must be artificial moss.

I think the kitchen is ugly in general. The moss just adds to making it uglier.

JFC:
“ Mo says Bob Guza was brilliant at storytelling, but they always wrote Sonny as the bad guy, and he says he used to argue all the time with Jill about that. "How can I go to a knife fight with a toothpick?" Mo says he asked Jill, over and over. "Sonny's always wrong, Jason's always the saint. The whole town hates Sonny" Mo says he gave examples to Jill. He says Sonny was not a nice guy with Emily. Sonny shot his wife in the head. The Quartermaines are against him. Michael gets shot, it's Sonny's fault, because his enemies were after him. Even Luke who is pretty much cool with whatever Sonny does, will eventually was against Sonny. The list goes on.
Finally, Mo asked if just once Sonny could be the hero. Mo said it wasn't that the character was unpopular really, despite everything he did, he was wildly popular in the rating, but Mo says he had to work his ass off constantly to be the charming mobster no matter what Sonny did. Mo says it was exhausting. Mo says he would joke on the set really loud so they could hear in the booth "EVERYBODY HATES ME" who else hates me today? On days like that, Donna would try to cheer Mo up and no take it so seriously.”

“ Mo says when Frank took over, they all thought GH was done and going to be cancelled. He said soaps never recovered from OJ. How they shot and when they shot also changed to keep up with new industry dynamics. For the first time, he was not required to keep such a grueling schedule. Mo says he began to get 2 weeks off in regular intervals. Now Mo knows why the rest of the world looks forward to summer Fridays.
Mo says it turned out Frank was a master at budgeting. He kept the show moving at a cost efficient manner, all while directing some of the episodes. In changing everything, Frank allowed GH to stay on the air, and everyone to keep working. Mo said in his opinion it's a miracle.
Mo says he likes Frank, but he exasperated him sometimes as much as he had Jill. Mo said in particular when it came to Sonny's son Morgan.
In 2013 when it was Morgan's turn to rapidly age. One day he was little, and almost the next he was a teen. Mo said when he saw Bryan Craig's screen test, he was not impressed. Mo liked another actor, but the producers wanted to go with Bryan, so Bryan became his new on screen son. Mo said it only took one scene with him to change his mind. It was a party scene where Sonny and Morgan started yelling at each other. He was a brand new kid with this raw emotion. Mo couldn't believe it. He held his own and then some. Mo said to himself, Holy shit, he's the real deal.
Mo said Bryan asked Mo if he could work with him. Mo says he was like Steve and Vanessa, another diamond, another sponge. Taking it all in and making it his own.
Mo said after they hired Bryan, they didn't really support him. He remembers one time he got upset cause Bryan wasn't getting the support he deserved as an actor. It was a dense dialogue scene for him, at least five pages. It was all on him because the brilliant Maura West didn't have many lines, and Sonny had none. Mo was in awe of his talent as he blew through the emotional scene. Mo says he nailed it like a movie star. The director just said no, do it again.
Mo said he loved this director, but Mo went off. Mo asked why cause Bryan was brilliant. None of them could have toped that. Mo says he's not doing it again. Mo didn't stop there, he layed into the non-believers. Mo said he couldn't believe how you are treating this actor when he's spilling his guts out. Mo said he told them he couldn't wait to leave this place and when his contract's up, he is out of there. Mo said he was so pissed, he stormed off the set.
Mo said he had yelled and broken things like a chair before when he was younger, and fought over every little detail because he thought he was the producer and the director back then. Mo said however he had never been as furious as what happened with Bryan. As Mo walked off the stage, the stage manager touched Mo's arm and stopped him. The stage manager told him "You don't want to leave. You're actors are still standing there." Mo said he knew him too well and he was right. He would not desert his actors. Mo turned around and went back to the set. Mo said told Maura and Bryan he would do the scene again for them. Mo said he would only do it again if the actors wanted to do it again. They looked at each other, but then the director had a change of heart and decided against the retake.
Later in the dressing room, Mo said he told Bryan he always has his back. They went back upstars and when Frank walked in for the next scene, he was mad. Privately in Frank's office, Frank laid into Mo and said it wasn't okay to call them "f***ing idiots" and that he had to apologize to the crew. Mo went back to the set to the amazing Crew that he absolutely adores, because nothing happens without their hard work. "I'm sorry I blew up last night" Mo said he began, but before he could continue he heard one of their ranks, Jimmy, yell "We got your back, Maurice." It never happened again and Mo thinks things got a little better for Bryan.”
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 8, 2020 4:53 AM |
MB's glad to not be working such a grueling schedule, but the rest of the cast, crew and especially the audience is grateful that he's not on the show as much anymore

Good God! Mo is even a more self-absorbed asshole than I imagined.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 8, 2020 1:11 PM |
“Mo said to keep up with the fans interest, Sonny and Brenda were doing 3-4 love scenes a week. He said it was ridiculous. Mo said he didn't want to look like a wuss, so he didn't say anything. Paula didn't want Mo to be branded a soap hunk. Mo said they argued about it all the time because Mo said his ego wouldn't allow him to admit to himself or Paula that she was right. Mo said he needed to stand up to the producers and tell him he's a serious actor, and wanted a storyline to show that. Mo said Vanessa understood and didn't take it personally because she and Paula had become very close. They both wanted the story to have more depth. Vanessa always teases Maurice that Paula should have married her.
Mo said Steve Burton's emmy reel where he won the emmy for GH was the best reel he had ever seen.
Apparently, when MB left in 1997, they threw a huge goodbye party for him courtesy of Wendy Riche and Shelly Curtis. He said they played the song "Sunny, thank you for the sunshine bouquet. Sunny, thank you for the love you brought my way You gave to me your all and all Now I feel ten feet tall Sunny one so true, I love you"
Mo talks about being invited to a 49ers game and the crowd was chanting "Sonny, Sonny, Sonny"
Mo saw himself in Donna because they both kept people at arms length.
Mo talked about doing an emotional scene with Ron hale. Apparently they cut out a part where Mo got emotional, and Mo went berserk. He asked who cut it out. It was Carol's decision, they said. Mo asked why she cut out the tears. The woman said it was because it would make Sonny look weak. Mo said no it's the opposite. In that little moment, you see his vulnerability. She listened to him and apologized, and after that they let Sonny show more emotion.
Maurice says Sarah Brown was a phenomena. He says fans are super protective and act like this mother. They don't feel like anyone is good enough for Sonny except for Brenda, on one hand, and Carly on the other.
Mo said it would be hard for fans to accept anyone but Sarah as Carly, but Tamara's vulnerability turned it around.
Mo said he absolutely hated the story where Sonny shot Carly in the head by accident, and she went into a coma. If that wasn't bad enough says Mo, while she was in the coma, she was in love with someone else. This meant that when she woke up, she didn't know Sonny. Mo said he not only hated the story, but he made fun of it endlessly to the point where he and Steve made Tamara cry. Mo said he was ashamed he was acting no better than the bullies he beat up at school.
Mo said he didn't let up and complained to the writers, producers. Mo even complained to Donna who also hated the story. Mo kept arguing they were cutting off Sonny's balls. They finally ended the story and Mo isn't sure if it was because it didn't work or because he was being such a pain in the ass. Even though Donna didn't like the dream story, she saw that Mo was being unfair to Tamara. Mo took full responsibility for his behavior and says he apologized to Tamara. Mo said they resolved that bump in the road.
Mo talks about Jennifer Bransford and how he fought for her by showing the network head a tape of her but they didn't agree with him.
Mo said LW says he wouldn't shake her hand when they first met. Mo said he had a cold and to this day he's not sure she believes him when he says that.
Mo says doing scenes with Laura is like doing scenes with a force of nature because she really fights for Carly, and Mo respects that. He says they've never gotten in a big argument, although there are time she probably wants to kill him, Mo says. Mo appreciates what a great scene partner she is when he's having a dark period in his bipolar struggle. Mo says he lets LW know when he's going through something so she will be aware. She's such an incredible pro and always knows how to handle it.”

Who is Donna?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 8, 2020 1:54 PM |
Donna was the head of hair and makeup, I believe. She died recently. The cast was very close to her.

“Right now he's just talking about hearing voices telling him to do bad things and threatening to kill his wife and how no one at GH knew about it.
MB said his brother was a pretty baby but his dad thought he was the wrong baby cause he was born with bushy eyebrows and hairy ears.
Mo said even though he changed his name to get jobs, he is still proud of his brown skin and he said he's glad about all the brown skin seen but there could be more.
Mo said his first ever performance was singing Ben as a little boy
Mo talked about a male stalker he had during his AMC days that would call up his dad and insist he was gay and Paula was a cover.
Luther Vandeross was a MB fan.
Mo said Jack Nicholson tried to flirt with his wife Paula.
Mo also talked about how Paula was really jealous early on about Mo kissing other women and she would count the amount of kisses and scenes he had with women. Mo said it was partly his fault cause he thought as long as they weren't married he still had wild oats to sow.
According to Paula, Mo never asked her to marry him, he just announced to everyone they were getting married.
Kin Shriner was the first actor Mo met on the GH set.
He talked about going back to California with a couple of his friends and was gonna take this girl back to NY with him and told Paula he was going to spend the night in his dressing room, but then the girl slept with one of his co-stars and he begged Paula to forgive him.
Right before Mo got the role of Sonny, he had been hanging at strip joints and lying to Paula aobut it for months, so he said he felt uneasy when he was cast as the guy who owned the strip club Paradise Lounge.
He went to tptb and told them he wanted them to cut down on the love scenes etc with sonny and Brenda because he didn't want to be thought of as just a soap hunk but a serious actor.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 8, 2020 2:00 PM |
I don’t know who this “Kelly” is as I’m assuming it’s not KeMo:
“ Mo talked about finally breaking down in front of Paula, telling her about going to the strip clubs and falling for one of the dancers, and slept with another girl in San Francisco and that he tried to sleep with Kelly in Hawaii. Paula started crying cause Mo was in a hyper manic state when he decided to confess all this. He drank a whole bottle of wine, threw the empty glass bottle at her and yelled at her to stop crying.
Maurice held up Paula's pet poodle she loved and threatened to kill him if she didn't stop crying.
Mo had an obsession with the song “Man in the Mirror”. He would play it over and over and during his breakdown he played it at full volume believing Michael Jackson would come over in a limo to save him.
Mo talked about busting into his friend Danny's bedroom to where Danny's wife was. Mo said he felt like the Messiah and started yelling at her that she had let the devil in when she ran and locked herself in the bathroom.
Mo talked about the scene where Karen was telling Sonny about how her dad abused her made Mo cry uncontrollably after. He had to keep it all in cause he was the bad guy but it hit too close to home cause it reminded him of when his dad would hit him when he was younger.
Mo auditioned for Philadelphia with Tom Hanks, but lost the role to Antonio Banderas. The producers told him he was their second choice.
Mo talked about doing his first scene with Tony Geary. Luke had to grab Sonny, and TG grabbed MB really hard, and MB adlibbed pushing him and the lines “Get off me.” TG said later that's when Mo got TG's respect.
Mo says Genie is one of the kindest people he knows and her acting is subtle but full of emotion.”
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 8, 2020 2:04 PM |
“Mo said the Jason switch story came about because he saw something in Steve and asked the writers for a story with him.
Mo compares SaSon to Batman and Robin.
Before Mo and Paula had their first child, Paula had become pregnant but then started hemoraging and miscarried the child. She had to get a DNC over Christmas. They didn't even decorate the house that Christmas, and he said they couldn't even go in the nursery and just kept the door closed. BUT turns out by January, Paula found out she was pregnant again with Cailey. Then MB talked about how during the pregnancy was during an Earthquake and MB jumped over Paula's belly to protect the unborn child.
Mo said he finally got the nerve to ask his father why he hit him. his father told him his father hit him and his father's father hit him. That's the way it always was. Mo's dad said his brother didn't seem to have a problem with it cause he didn't turn out like MB. MB says his brother wasn't as sensitive as he was. Mo told his dad that he could have five kids and if one of them is pre-conditioned, it's gonna make them have a problem, even if the others don't. Mo said his dad wanted everything to be perfect, but nothing’s perfect. No matter what you do, someone will disappoint you. Someone will always fall short. "I'm sorry, Mauricio" Mo's father finally said to him. Mo said he really believed his father meant it because it was such a departure to the tough image he had grown up with. Mo said it healed him tremendously to hear those words. Mo said it felt like it was the first time they understood each other.
Mo said while Paula gave birth, Mo tried to keep it light by talking about Jack Nicholson and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest with the doctor.
Apparently there was a scene with an Angel Lily holding Sonny's unborn son, and it was especially emotional for MB cause it was Cailey playing the role of the baby.
Mo said it was emotional cause he and Paula had lost their first baby and there was their miracle Cailey there while he was playing this story of Sonny losing his dead son and Lily.
Mo said he is still to this day very proud of the AIDS story and is still to this day at the top of his list of favorite story arcs.
Mo said he watched Kimberly pretty much grow up on the show and that he loves her on stage and off.
Mo mentioned people trying to grab his head, his ass, anything when he went to the Emmy's show when he was first nominated in 1996.
Mo called his chemistry with Vanessa "truly, once in a lifetime"
Mo said a fan sent him a link to a Sonny and Brenda scene on his twitter account, and he couldn't stop watching cause the heat was amazing.”

Not that I was looking forward to a Carly-centric episode but who the hell edited this mess? It was 90% flashbacks. LONG flashbacks. Is this their remedy for the lack of episodes coming up? Just flashbacks in every episode?

these flashbacks(not the new flashbacks) make it obvious that like many have said in the past, Nelle was originally going to be Carly's daughter
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 8, 2020 7:44 PM |
and how did they explain the kidney not being Jake's?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 8, 2020 7:50 PM |
Jax paid off Frank for Nelle’s kidney but I don’t think the Jake connection hasn’t ever been explained. Especially since they SORASed Josslyn but not him. I’m so confused about that story as well.
Also, the flashbacks were set in 1995 Florida. Little Nelle looks to be about 8 or 9. Michael wasn’t even born yet. Why do they keep tinkering with Carly’s history? She also grew up in a trailer park.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 8, 2020 7:57 PM |
I seem to remember they quickly explained the Jake connection away by saying that Jerry Jax/Helena arranged it all

I hate it when they change history. Help me out, other GH long-viewers... Caroline was introduced when Bobbie hired a private detective to find the daughter she gave up for adoption. It was thru the detective that Caroline discovered Bobbie was her mother, then took the name of her deceased best friend, Carly Roberts. Is that correct?

Yes, Caroline was found by Bobbie's private detective, who told Caroline that she was adopted and Bobbie only wanted to find her because Lulu needed a donor. Caroline came to town as Carly Roberts, her best friend who had been "killed" as a teenager.

It has been confirmed on twitter today, what we all suspected. They are reediting episodes to stretch them out. It is also to help new viewers who might be tuning in, to understand the storylines. Not a stupid strategy.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | April 10, 2020 4:07 PM |
That's wise on franks's part, As many storylines as they air per day, it should be easy to divide them into two episodes and add flashbacks. That's get them more new episodes cause it doesn't look like they'll be allowed to go back to work anytime soon.

Just got through watching the Wednesday and Thursday episodes that were filled with flashbacks to stretch out one episode into two.
What a mess! Oy vey!! The highlight of this episode should have been the newly created flashback scenes of Eden McCoy playing a young Carly, Cynthia Watros as Carly's mother and JPS as Frank. That was the big selling point of the episode. But those newly created flashbacks got lost amid all the actual flashbacks!
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of flashbacks. And I prefer longer flashbacks to shorter ones. But what we got in those two episodes were filler. Just throwing anything in to fill the time. These weren't carefully chosen flashbacks to illustrate story points but rather anything close the general subject area thrown in there. They jerked you around so much, I think they would have left lapsed viewers more confused than anything.
I understand the need to stretch the remaining new episodes out. And inserting flashbacks is the best way to do that until they can go back to the studio. But 30 minutes of flashbacks in a 60 minute episode that wasn't written to accommodate flashbacks is too much! The endless flashbacks just killed whatever momentum the episode had. The episodes just plodded along and bored me to death.
Instead of stretching one episode into two with flashbacks, maybe they should just stretch two episodes into three.
Alternately, perhaps they could shorten the episode by 10 minutes and do a 10 minute news update at the end of the episode. That way, the episode could still have some flashbacks, but would run 3 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. followed by a 10 minute news update. Or it could run 3:05 to 3:55 with a five minute newscast on both ends.
Bigger issue is that Los Angeles County has already announced the Safer at Home quarantine will last until May 15. And it will likely be extended again beyond that because Los Angeles is determined not to have a second wave of virus outbreaks. The upshot is that GH will run out of new episodes before they can get back to the studio. Frank and ABC need to start making alternate plans for the time slot.

GH running out of episodes? Good! They have time to rewrite Nelle being NIna' s daughter. It's just so clumsily put together. Awful!
by Anonymous | reply 90 | April 12, 2020 4:01 AM |
They probably want a big Nina vs. Carly feud, so it's unlikely they would scrap Nelle being Nina's daughter.

I disagree. The Hayden/Finn flashbacks made sense because it was their daughter's birthday. It's also obvious the show is padding the episodes to make the new content last longer. Yesterday was about half flashbacks.

If I were the head-writer and/or producer of GH, or any soap other than DAYS, I would be preparing for running out of episodes before production in the studio can resume. I'd be writing some scripts that the actors could record at home, in character, like the SNL and music specials. They could use the feature allowing different backgrounds to be used. I did a video chat yesterday using the Chancellor Estate set from Y&R as a backdrop. Basically the idea would be that the characters are largely in quarantine like everyone else. And, they could pad it out with flashbacks. I would especially have episodes that would focus on the doctors and nurses of GH, at least one each for Monica, Bobbie, Finn, Elizabeth, Lucas, and Epiphany. I would even make one focusing on Sonny and Mike, since Mike is in a nursing home, which are being hit especially hard during this. The characters could be shown doing a lot of video chats and phone calls.

by Anonymous | reply 154 | April 17, 2020 5:44 PM |
Why isn't "The Moss" included in the opening credits since it gets so much airtime what with everyone so drawn to congregating to converse and otherwise being up TM's butt.
What's TM's story? I think it should be Faison's camouflaged brain or an ominous life form that emits mind control on whomever it wants to with capabilities such as occasionally letting characters be able to mind read one another and assigning astral projection duties to key players. TM should also possess telekinetic powers and bring ghost characters such as Kiki and Morgan and others in to visit. Maybe The Moss and Avery could strike up a friendship

Next Friday, 4/24, classic episode will be Sonny centric "What if Sonny never became a mobster episode."
by Anonymous | reply 159 | April 17, 2020 11:24 PM |
Certain boards are saying Y&R will run out of new episodes next week.
When LA went on lockdown and production was halted on March 16, it was reported Y&R had 4 to 5 weeks of episodes in the can. Even though Y&R has been running "classic" episodes (true classics from the 80s and 90s), on Fridays, they're still going to run out soon. That 4 to 5 weeks worth of episodes, if correct, would measure to running out next week with Thursday falling on April 23.
Meanwhile GH was said to have 7 weeks in the can when it had to halt production on March 16 (at least that's what Willian DeVry said at the time). So, that would stretch out to about May 7. With "classic" episodes airing on Fridays and stretching one episode into two by adding tons of flashbacks, GH can probably stretch its new episodes out to May 28 or so.

I like the way you think, R155. Somehow it seems more likely that it would be Spinelli who would be on the same wavelength as an interplanetary/otherwordly being, though. Or perhaps Madame Delfina could make a guest appearance to channel and decipher its intended earthly mission.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | April 17, 2020 11:44 PM |
I'm glad Frank is trying to stretch out new episodes by adding flashbacks to make one episode into two. He's being realistic about the proposition of when the crew might be allowed to return to the studio.
That said, having 50% of the episode being flashbacks is KILLING the momentum of each episode. It's now just plodding along at a glacial pace. And the flashbacks aren't really adding anything. They're clearly filler!!!
Frankly, I'd rather see full "classic" episodes than these half new/half flashback ones.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | April 18, 2020 10:42 PM |
Maybe 30-45 minute new episodes with 15-30 minute classic segments to round out the hour and still let us stretch content without losing too much momentum by airing too many reruns?

GH had the perfect set up with Ryan. They bring one of the most unhinged characters who is a serial killer & don't set him loose on the dead weight. He could've still romanced Ava while murdering people unbeknownst to anyone. He should've offed Jordan, Peter, Nina, Valentin, Mike & Sasha.

My wish list for a time jump:
Peter has already been tried and convicted and is serving his LIFE sentence at an OUT OF STATE prison never to be seen again.
Maxie went crazy at the Peter revelation and has been institutionalized at a facility OUT OF STATE never to be seen again. Liesel is raising James because she is the more interesting character and better actress -- it doesn't have to make sense, this is a soap.
Sasha has gone to Milan to run the Deception office there, finds an Italian lover who can appreciate her fry voice and is never heard from again.
Jordan - RIP, Curtis being comforted by Portia.
Taggert is alive and well and Police Commissioner.
Cyrus actor sticks around and becomes the go to recurring PC villain who pops in from time to wreak havoc.

Funny that the writers continue to prop Peter to get viewers to accept him, while Valentine has been just as worthless and gross as a character, and since they've put him on the back burner, a lot of people want him to stay and be with Anna.
Please Charlotte, kill them both, then yourself. (And if you're up for it, Lulu and Maxie. Never thought I'd see these legacy characters written and acted so badly.)

I think this Charlotte bad seed thing is setting up a Valentin story. She’s going to start to mimic him and he decides to become “good”. Basically a redemption story. Zzzzz.
And Spinelli should’ve stayed a side character. They never should’ve inserted him into love stories, etc. Recurring and kissing Jason’s ass was enough.

by Anonymous | reply 184 | April 20, 2020 5:31 PM |
Once again, GH has an opportunity to write a ground-breaking storyline. Take goody-two-shoes Charlotte and turn her into a monumental bad seed. Make her really evil and have her set up deaths while framing others. The young actress might be good enough to pull it off, and the fact that she's a Cassadine literally made in a laboratory gives it credibility. If done well, it could pull the highest ratings any soap has had in many years. Heavily involve Genie, JPL, and (unfortunately), Emme Ryan. Emmys would be a certainty! Wait a minute. Charlotte killing her mother really would be fucking amazing, and it's not like it hasn't happened in real life.
Of course, they won't.

Don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't watched yet so I won't name names but Peter had someone else killed now?? When will we be rid of Parking Lot Peter.
Also, I just can't with this NuNik. Absolutely no chemistry with MW or anyone, I could not possibly care less if they end up falling in love which will be a snooze fest anyway given the lack of spark. He doesn't have the physical stature or acting chops to pull this off. The guy who plays Chase is better than him and GH is his first acting gig. Frank needs to send him back to the sea org or celebrity center or wherever he found him.

This wouldn't be the first person Peter had killed. He's been shown to be a murderer. That being said I think this is a scheme. It's insulting that GH tries to make us believe Robert, Anna, Mac, Felicia are brainless stooges all to sell Peter as some mastermind.

Getting back to my Charlotte/Bad Seed storyline idea: weird things start to happen around her family, first the snake, (of course), then maybe a serious injury to the Quatermaine dog, (wasn't one introduced sometime back then forgotten about? Time to remember). Then an "accident" involving one of the other kids, maybe her brother Rocco. Lulu realizes what is happening, discusses with her mother, (who thinks Lulu is making too much out of it), then Lulu is found murdered. Set up to look like Dusty (or BrookeLynn), is the killer. Laura strongly suspects now it is Charlotte, but feels she has to protect her. So does Valentin. Laura and Valentin have to form a truly unholy alliance to protect Charlotte - (for Laura, it brings back memories of when Leslie protected her after killing David Hamilton). How fucking great would that be?
But like I said, it'll never happen!

Y&R and B&B both run out of new episodes this week -- Thursday is the last day for new episodes. After that they'll have themed weeks of classic episodes.
Meanwhile, GH is said to have enough episodes to last until late May. That's thanks to the rerun Fridays and stretching one episode into two by adding flashbacks. If not for that, they like would have run out of new episodes the week of May 11.
While it's good they have more new episodes in the can, I hope GH quits adding the flashbacks to stretch an episode into two. As I've ranted before, it just kills the momentum of the episode to have half of it filled with flashback. I'm really hating these stretched episodes.
If want to do new episodes made up primarily of flashbacks, then sit Laura Wright down and ask her to discuss her favorite storylines and most memorable scenes. Chat with Steve Burton about his faves. Get Genie Francis to talk about Laura's evolution. Use an actor to introduce some flashbacks and offer some personal perspective.
by Anonymous | reply 204 | April 20, 2020 11:08 PM |
Chad Duell has the highest episode count? Maybe that's because he's, from what I hear, the most well endowed. I wonder what Maurice thinks about his TV-son's superiority?

Genie was acting with a mannequin in those Laura/Lulu scenes today. Emme Rylan is just terrible. What is with her line delivery?
by Anonymous | reply 212 | April 21, 2020 8:36 PM |
R194 here. What did y'all think of the scenes with Charlotte and Valentin today? followed by Valentine's scene with Laura? If I was the producer, I'd throw out whatever story line they've got going, (assuming it's bad as it almost always is), and go with mine. lol
A caveat, though. As much as we all hate Lulu, it seems like NuNik is the most expendable, and the most likely person Charlotte would knock off, framing Ava in the process. As Ava is about to go to prison, Laura and Valentine must decide whether or not to step forward and tell the truth about Charlotte. Does Laura decide to take blame for Charlotte the way Leslie did for her? or,at the last minute, does Valentine step forward and claim to have committed the crime himself? Because he knows the truth and feels Laura can be a better parent to Charlotte than him? And how do we keep Lulu's participation to a minimum?
Could you guys please figure out the rest?

Honestly, I thought Chase and Sasha were going to go off and elope, not completely destroy their relationships with Michael and Willow. But as completely goody-goody as Michael and Willow are, I guess it was the only way.
by Anonymous | reply 215 | April 22, 2020 2:04 AM |
The Chase/Willow/Sasha storyline is ridiculous. It would have been SO MUCH BETTER if Willow had walked in, listened to Chase's explanation, and then just called their bluff. She could have looked all serious, then just start laughing and say, "Sasha, c'mon out. You guys - I love you so much! Do you really think I should do this?" It would be more realistic, show a sense of humor, create a more believable bond - and then be doubly heartbreaking when one of those two couples ends up together for real.
by Anonymous | reply 216 | April 22, 2020 2:30 AM |
Willow as a former cult member and mother of Shiloh’s child could’ve easily been a writers dream but they ruined all potential by 1. Making her obsessed with Wiley and 2. Getting her involved with lame Michael.

Back in 2005, GH had a great storyline where a pre-pubescent Michael was believed to have killed his father AJ. Implications of that bad seed storyline were fantastic. But then the show chickened out and made it so that Michael's psychiatrist did it.

I really like the idea of Nelle and Willow being fraternal twins, it would provide such good conflict, contrast and story lines.
Someone on another forum recalled that when Nelle first came to town she mentioned she and her father had lived on a commune, I don't remember this at all but whatever. Maybe that's where Frank Benson met Harmony and gave her one of the twins Madeline Reeves paid him to take off her hands. Perhaps two kids turned out to be too much for Frank and hey why not just give one away. I don't know, whatever nonsensical story the writers come up with I'm good with, I just think the dynamic between Nina/Nelle/Willow would be fun. I'm also starting to appreciate CW's quirky little mannerisms she injects into Nina's personality.
Also, here's hoping the soap gods break up Nina and Jax - STAT.

GH really needs to showcase Herbst as one of its leading ladies. She really elevated those scenes yesterday with Sonny & Mike. Herbst can convey empathy & tenderness without being fake or cloying.
by Anonymous | reply 240 | April 23, 2020 3:59 PM |
Agreed R240. I love when we see her interact with other characters. They keep her so isolated. I’ll never understand why they’ve always overlooked her. I’d much rather watch her onscreen everyday over Yuckmouth and Whispers. 23 years on this show, never phoned it in and still nothing more than a supporting character. I know Frons didn’t feel she was leading lady material and reportedly said she wasn’t pretty enough but damn.

Yes, long time viewers would enjoy the deep dive flashbacks to long gone and obscure characters.
But it's the best strategy now for the show to flashback to more recent episodes as a catch up for all of the new or lapsed viewers now stuck at home. They'll better understand the show if they stick with it going forward. For the show to survive, this really needs to happen.
by Anonymous | reply 253 | April 24, 2020 2:15 PM |
^ Sure, Frank.
by Anonymous | reply 254 | April 24, 2020 6:02 PM |
Even though I too would love to see REAL classic episodes, here are 5 points as to why they don't do it:
1) Editing - The shows have to be edited for time and to conform to 16:9 versus 4:3. That takes time and money. I think current GH runs about 36 minutes without commercials. In the old days, soaps ran between 42 and 44 minutes without commercials.
2) Continuity - Soaps are constantly retconning story. And the TPTB think it confuses the audience.
3) Residuals
4) Ego... EPs and Writers have big egos and would probably prefer their stuff to be repeated than some Gloria Monty/Doug Marland episode that won't benefit them.
5) ABC is not CBS. CBS has the oldest viewers. Nostalgia works for them. The average GH viewer is very different than the average Y&R viewer.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | April 24, 2020 6:22 PM |
r255
Wasn't it last week they played an ep with Michelle S as Nina and I bet viewers survived
as to no 4... I agree... they are scared that the current writers would be outed as the shitty writers they are compared to years ago
by Anonymous | reply 256 | April 24, 2020 6:50 PM |
6) New viewers aren't as interested in seeing a decades-old episode about Brook Lynn's grandmother and great-grandfather as some posters here seem to be. YouTube already exists.

I was surprised that yesterday's episode showed Jason and Sam flashback scenes from a decade or so ago. It showed how much better both actors were then, rather than now. Sam actually use to be engaging. Now the zombies on The Walking Dead are more expressive than her. Jason actually had some range, as well. He wasn't just an expressionless piece of wood.

by Anonymous | reply 266 | April 24, 2020 8:16 PM |
R257
There are no new viewers for any of the remaining soaps. The audience are long term viewers who are hanging on out of history, habit & the hope that one day the soaps will return to there glory days.
Therefore re-airing episodes from when the shows were great would not confuse the audience.
by Anonymous | reply 267 | April 24, 2020 8:28 PM |
R267 That isn't entirely true there are always new viewers, for instance GH has 45,000 viewers between age 2-11, they are by definition new viewers. Also the thought, and HOPE, for GH and the other soaps is that people stuck at home during all this will watch and hopefully become hooked and keep watching after things go back to "normal." Therefore, while I would like to see older episodes I understand ABC's focus on episodes that will help get these new or lapsed viewers understand and into the current stories. Linked is the in-depth daytime demos.

R62 that's exactly how I remember it as well. They're rearranging everything in order for Nelle's erratic behavior to be excused as Carly abandoning her, similarly to how Carly blamed Bobbie. However they're dismantling Carly's history in the process while also mistakenly having Nelle only about nine or ten years younger than 46 year old Carly. With Nina's baby being born either 25 or 26 years ago, it makes this storyline even more so ludicrous.
