It's telling that at a time like this, Harry doesn't post a word of encouragement to fans, or even perform a song or two on social media like others have. Fans are just income to him. He doesn't even try to pretend he gives a fuck about them.

He's released about four mini concerts in the last month, including Tiny Desk. And he expresses his love for his fans on far more occasions than the likes of Louis, who has never toured in four years. His rapport with audiences is phenomenal, much better than the other four.

At least Harry hasn't morphed into a lard ball.

It's not his style and he can't play well enough to accompany himself so would need to drag the band out of quarantine. That won't happen.

LOL. He can't even at least say a kind word to his fans at this time, ask if they're okay, tell them to stay safe, post a pic to brighten their day, etc. I guess keeping that mysteriousness and exclusiveness is more important to him. It just takes him down further in my book.

Adore You is at 7 now on the Hot 100, after 230 days on the charts. Harry fans are very happy about that and would rather have that than a flop like Niall who's always jawing away on Twitter, begging for streams and sales. Even with tour bundles, his album has only managed 59k and will debut at 4 in the US.

The difference in popularity between Niall and Harry is jawdropping. Harry sold 420k more than him in his first week.

He said he's with three friends (didn't mention any children), who have "real jobs", so I guess not musicians and he also didn't say he was writing with someone else or making music with them. Could be anyone, really.

Adore You is also 5 on the Hot 100, four months after its release. I notice the troll who always tries to say Niall is more successful because his singles stay on the charts longer has gone very quiet.

He's been promoting Fine Line on the top radio shows in lieu of touring and that has already spawned plenty of articles. Neither Jeff nor Harry want to see unflattering candids in the Daily Mail.

I know you think you are Mr Cynical, believing that all paps are called. Read this from 5 April if you want to be educated. LA paps talk about driving round all day in the celeb neighbourhoods, snapping pics from their cars with long angle lenses. They're doing that even more now because there are no red carpet events to attend.

Niall has dropped down to 87 for his third week on the Billboard albums chart. Harry is still in the top 20 after four months.

Harry is back up at 4 again on the official UK album charts. Falling is at 16. Poor Niall's new album is down at 46 already after only a month. Harry's Adore You is a 6 on the Hot 100, too. Grammy noms seem likely!

Liam was just on with James Corden. James asked him about the reunion rumors and all Liam would say is that they have all been talking a lot recently.

James said to Liam " not the answer we all wanted to hear but I know that's all you can say."

I doubt there will be actually new music, because I can't imagine Harry is much interested in writing & recording for 1D these days. Maybe he'd do it in 10 years or so for nostalgic reasons, but I don't see it now. If there's "new music" it would have to be something unreleased from back then imho. But who knows if they'll really go that far, I think all the "reunion" rumours are blown way out of proportion and it will be more something like a documentary or TV special or something like that. But I mean, everything is on hold right now due to covid-19, no tours, not as much promo, so if a few 1D stans get excited, it might also work for their solo music now.

Kid Harpoon gave a new interview about working with Harry.

Seems like he's really trying to develop a different sound for every album. Although I think the jump from Fine Line to HS3 won't be as big as the jump from HS1 to Fine Line, especially since Fine Line did so well. So I expect it to be much closer, maybe more influences from the kind of music he played for his Beats 1 radio show. I think someone here was hoping for or thinking about a more indie rock/Britpop influenced third album? It seems he writes most of it on piano this time around, so probably not. We'll see.

Kid Harpoon obviously needs publicity.

I was hoping for Brit pop but I think he's going more in a blues direction with all the black artists he referenced.

I'd be so here for a blues album, but the featured artists were mostly (psychodelic) soul, funk and jazz fusion influences. His opening act Madison Cunningham is also kind of jazz influenced folk from what I heard, so I can imagine it will be something like that. Not really my cup of tea.

Harry is extremely influenced by those around him. I'd love him to date a British girl who could get him back into the Camden indie scene and away from the hippy west coast types. Louis' Kill My Mind would have been incredible sung and performed by Harry.

Looks like it. But Niall said Harry introduced him to Shuggie Otis, when they were in 1D, so I guess he always loved this kind of music? Maybe he's just even more into it now than back then, he seems to have phases. I think 2015/16 he had a bit of a country classics phase (he mentioned Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kid Harpoon said he loves country), which seems to be pretty much over and now it might be soul/funk. Kid Harpoon he seems to be his main co-writer and also involved with what Harry writes right now; his own music seems to be indie rock/folk and he also wrote with Miles Kane, so hard for me to say if he's one of the people Harry gets influenced by and in what way.

But I guess HS3 won't come before 2022 or even 2023, a lot can change until then.

I hope Harry stays far away from those knuckleheads. They need Harry. Harry doesn't need them.

They certainly need him more than he needs them. 1D wouldn't work without him, but Harry Styles clearly works without 1D. But in the end it's his decision to either do it or not. He always said he liked being in the band and we know that he has a sentimental streak, so it might be something that's fun for him. And we don't even know what kind of thing it will be.

But the way his fans are already freaking out and having fits that he might participate in anything... Why? They always emphasise how much he has grown, how he is totally the captain of his own ship and everything he does is 100 % his own decision. But suddenly they act like someone is holding a gun to his head and they have to protect this poor boy. Imagine if he really might want to do it out of nostalgia and to have a fun time celebrating his past with his fans - and they spoil it by throwing a hissy fit. Or because they act like he's a forced martyr. I'd be so disappointed and done in his stead.

Liam and Niall chatted today on Instgram, I think Louis bailed on them.

I think a documentary has always been planned about the band and their 10 year anniversary, but that will probably be it. Probably something they don't even need to take part in. But it will get them all, even Harry, some good PR.

Louis seems to be sulking.

When is he not? He's always trying to play the victim so his fans see him as sympathetic and rush to do his bidding.

Probably the only thing that works for their weird victim fetish. If Louis says he's fine and happy with his girlfriend and dogs, they just invent stuff why he's miserable and victimised by his management/label/society and they are his only saviours.

R67, the Doll Lady, Amy, was so angry that Mark Tomlinson and the twins said Louis was quarantined with Eleanor in London that she flounced from Tumblr and wrote a hilarious farewell letter.

Niall stans are also getting aggressive and defending Niall's desperate daily IG lives. He does them shirtless and several have been 3 or 4 hours long! His album is down at 154 on Billboard after only 5 weeks while Fine Line is still at #16. Wonder why N's album is selling so badly?

Niall is rude and demanding to fans. He is so bizarrely avid for public attention, really not coping well with the isolation. His IG resembles that of an 18 year old wannabe influencer who's trying desperately to get up to 100k followers.

The doll lady is hilarious, her abstinence lasted what.. 2 days? But it served its purpose, I guess, since she's now soaking up the attention. Larries are a special breed indeed.

R69 Some of the less die hard fans might have been annoyed with the constant promo and fixation on streams and tour tickets. But I feel for the most part it's just that the former 1D fandom became much smaller, especially outside of social media. Or fans that initially bought/streamed all the guys' albums, might have become solo fans of one of them. Louis and Liam only released singles right after 1D, but if we compare the success of these to their singles now, the drop is even bigger than for Niall.

That Harry avoided this drop might be an indication how many new fans Harry has acquired since 1D. I don't think his extraordinarily good first week sales were just the result of the pre-album Fine Line singles, but a combination of the 1D fans he kept and plenty of fans that came due to HS1. It mirrors my anecdotal experience, most adult fans I know discovered him after SOTT. And I feel with Fine Line he broadened his mass appeal, that's why the album stays in the charts even after so many weeks. That's not just his dedicated fanbase, that's the general public, which I fear the other 1D guys couldn't quite reach.

I just looked up US sales (including streams) and they make up about 60 % of worldwide sales (this week's sales alone about 47 %). It's always hard to find old numbers, but I saw some from 1 year after HS1's release and US sales made up about 45 % at the time. Of course there's an error margin here, because everyone seems to count sales differently, but I still think it gives a bit of an indication of Fine Line's success in the US. After only 4.5 months It has already surpassed HS1's one year sales there by about 300k units. For the rest of the world Fine Line has yet to reach HS1's one year numbers, but it will probably do so until the one year mark.
