Don't forget AMERICAN SAMOA.
They're going to support our Polynesian Queen Tulsi Gabbard, then she'll be the first woman of color and female combat vet to receive delegates to a convention (♥♥♥) and DNC cronies' heads will EXPLODE. They'll want to kick AmSam out of the nation. <3

Sorry, R33. Bernie is no longer even a consideration of mine anymore. I just learned today that.... well, Bernie Sanders calls himself a Democratic Socialist. Hugo Chavez of Venezuela called himself that too.
You'r going to have to come up with a better argument to convince me to vote for Sanders. While I BELIEVE strongly in voting I can't bring myself to vote for Trump and now I'm going to include Sanders in that too. Hmm... maybe I'll write my own name in.

And, in other news.... (just dropped)
Trump launches an urgent fight to save his economic record
The president is pushing for policies generally preferred by Democrats, as major U.S. businesses signal that key parts of the American economy could get smothered by coronavirus fears.
Eight months from a general election, President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers are considering an urgent effort to rescue the U.S. economy from a coronavirus panic.
Trump advisers and GOP lawmakers have spent the last few days pushing the White House to develop a package of economic stimulus measures, designed to prop up the economy amid growing fears about the spread of the coronavirus in the U.S.
Trump and his aides have been battering the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates — shrugging off the central bank’s traditional independence — only to get an emergency rate cut Tuesday and then watch investors get spooked by the signal.
And they’re watching a flood of announcements from multinational U.S. companies signaling trouble that could strangle the American economy for months to come.
The frenzied push to boost the economy is colliding with Republican orthodoxy opposing short-term stimulus during the last recession. But it’s a reflection of what some Republicans recognize as an existential threat to Trump’s reelection: a potential downturn in the economy and financial markets in the run-up to a close and heated presidential election.
“I don’t think it’s good policy,” one senior administration official said. “The whole litany of temporary measures to stimulate the economy ... I don’t think it works.”
During a meeting with lawmakers last week, Republican Sen. Steve Daines of Montana suggested to Trump the idea of a temporary payroll tax cut to give employed consumers additional cash — an idea that Daines said Trump liked enough to then champion on Twitter.
Meanwhile, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is pushing the idea of a one-time tax credit for companies that bring manufacturing back to the U.S. from China.
And Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said his agency would talk to independent bank regulators about easing rules for lenders. Mnuchin also said Treasury had set up a sub-task force to examine how coronavirus is hitting small businesses.
(there's more)

r148 There is no conspiracy. They do exit polls. Sometimes they are right on, sometimes they aren't. Tonight they're right.
Bernie's having a tougher night than he planned because polls showed people voting in their first Democratic primary went to Joe by 4%, and the young voters, as usual, are not turning out in numbers Bernie said they would.

She was on MSNBC. She was talking about how the way you win is not to demonize the supporters of other candidates. And that in her conversation with the freshman members of the House, they don't think Bernie's agenda is what they need.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | March 3, 2020 11:58 PM |

Early results in N.C. have Biden up 6 points over Bernie. Bloomberg viable at 18%, Warren unviable at 12%.
by Anonymous | reply 212 | March 4, 2020 12:27 AM |
What we should really be thinking about is 2024. If Biden gets the nom and beats Trump, I can't see him winning a second term. His campaign morale relies on damage control and being the only one "able" to beat Trump. But what next? Once he's sworn in, Repugs and Dems alike will tear him to shreds. A new radical Repug will steal the hearts of deplorables everywhere and Joe will be gone in 2024 if he doesn't die first.
If Trump wins a second term, people will be so fed up with him that a Democrat will almost surely take over in 2024. Don't get me wrong, nothing would give me greater joy than seeing Trump lose. But I am worried about the long-term consequences of a Biden presidency.

Even though he had NO chance to win, Bernie stayed in all the way to the convention last time and even worse, kept bashing Hillary (the presumptive nominee at that point) and the Democratic party all the way there.
He also kept telling his supporters (cultists?) that he could win at a contested convention even though there was next to no chance of that happening. He gave them false hope and when it didn't happen, they took it out on Hillary and the Democrats.
Bernie caused a lot of damage back in 2016; fuck him.

Does anyone know what the expectation for tonight was supposed to be prior to Saturday?
How well was Biden supposed to do?
by Anonymous | reply 460 | March 4, 2020 2:38 AM |
I mean he spent eight years as Obama's vice president. People know who Biden is r457.
Bernie Sanders has always been a fractional candidate. When the more moderate competition was split he looked really good. When it isn't split as much he can't win the Dem base.

Pete Buttigieg met with Jimmy Carter before he flew to Indiana and withdrew. I believe party elders advised Pete to leave before Super Tuesday and endorse Biden. Pete will get a top cabinet post or become the DNC chair. Biden likes him. I would not rule Pete out being offered the VP candidate role; but believe a woman or an African-American would be Biden's running mate if Biden wins out.

Very pertinent point made today by New York Times Columnist Charles Blow:
“Every presidential candidate was born before 1950, before commercial computers, color TV broadcasting, home microwaves and modems. Let that sink in”
Age of remaining top presidential candidates at 2021 inauguration:
Warren: 71 (June 22, 1949) Trump: 74 (June 14, 1946) Biden: 78 (November 20, 1942) Bloomberg: 78 (February 14, 1942) Sanders: 79 (September 8, 1941)

Who.Gives.A.Shit.About.Hunter.
I mean, it's not like the three eldest spawn of the current incumbent are clean and pristine now correct? I mean, they make Hunter Biden look like Mother Teresa in comparison.
My only ongoing concern about Biden and the party is that they'll allow Trump and the Repubs to set the tone and narrative, rather than the other way round. "They go low, we go high" crap etc etc. They need to learn to hit HARD and hit OFTEN. Bloomberg's ads have done this well to good effect imo - he's not afraid to pull punches there, it's effective.

We here all know it's bullshit but it's hard to know what casual news viewers and people who don't follow much news will think.
