Do those bikes have training wheels?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 14, 2020 11:33 AM |
Racist & sexist thread!!!! How dare you to tell a woman of color to fuck off.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 14, 2020 11:39 AM |
I'm kind of glad neither of them got the Oscar nod. They're both so thirsty.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 14, 2020 12:12 PM |
At least this has people talking about Vanity Fair again.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 14, 2020 12:17 PM |
That cover is straight out of the 90's, jeez, I guess pop culture needs a reboot!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 14, 2020 12:26 PM |
What an odd cover. Why are two of them on vintage bikes? Does that have anything to do with their image, do they bike recreationally, why?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 14, 2020 12:32 PM |
So VF basically jinxed them.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 14, 2020 12:40 PM |
Remember when the VF Hollywood issue was a big deal? Now nobody cares.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 14, 2020 2:11 PM |
I remember when the Hollywood issue had "rising stars" on the cover and it was people like Chris Klein, Marley Shelton, and Selma Blair.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 14, 2020 2:35 PM |
Beyond ridiculous!!
And Oscar nominee Florence Pugh has a smaller photo than Petunia Deppotism.

I let my subscription lapse a year ago, and really haven’t missed it. When I did so, in the back of my head I had made the connection between the changes in look, direction, styles, etc... and the change in leadership. It seemed like Radhika was quite aggressively taking things over and yes, there was a feminist/POC point of view. It’s not a shame that she adopted that POV, it’s just a shame because VF never operated from the POV before.

Snubbed implies that a nomination was deserved.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 14, 2020 3:06 PM |
It might have been an interesting cover 20 years ago...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 14, 2020 4:01 PM |
This is what happens when you hire Lynn Stairmaster as your editor.

Jlo should do playboy
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 14, 2020 4:17 PM |
R15 Don’t give her any ideas!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 14, 2020 4:30 PM |
People still read vanity fair?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 14, 2020 4:36 PM |
Agreed wholeheartedly, R11 — I’d been a VF subscriber since the late-80s (yes, I’m old) and I let my subscription lapse a few months after Radhika Jones took over. I hated the lecturing, woke direction the magazine moved toward under her leadership (if memory serves, there was a DL thread devoted to the obnoxious Lena Waite cover/article, which stated that if you hadn’t heard of Lena Waithe, you needed to check yourself for a pulse.). Most of the covers looked like photos from the DMV. Don’t miss the magazine at all.
. I used to look forward to the Hollywood Issue, but last year’s was terrible, and if the cover is any indication, this year’s isn’t any better.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 14, 2020 5:01 PM |
Vanity Fair was HUGE for years, it was the big magazine for gay men and urbanites but then it just kind of sputtered.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 14, 2020 5:04 PM |
Why is the White girl formerly recognized as Renee Zellweger in the middle?
But seriously, I am so glad I held onto my vintage VF collection having cancelled my subscription ages ago. If only John Kennedy, Jr. had lived and reactivated his "George" magazine!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 14, 2020 5:21 PM |
I got sick of Vanity Fair years ago because they would rehash the same subjects again and again. Princess Diana, The Kennedy's and Marilyn Monroe. Every other month they would bleat about how they had never before seen photos of Jackie, Marilyn or Diana. How many more fucking pictures of those women do we need? There are so many fascinating actors and celebrities, particularly of Old Hollywood that they could have discussed. Instead it was the same obssessions over and over.

I miss the profiles of ancient Manhattan socialites.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 14, 2020 5:41 PM |
I don't miss it at all. Another subscriber whose subscription lapsed because they were saying nothing at VF.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 14, 2020 5:44 PM |
Those 3 women sold 300 V.F. magazines. Who’s laughing now? Ex. credit: was Diana cowering under the bed when Jackie killed Marilyn for Bobby?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 14, 2020 5:48 PM |
Taika Waititi is looking pretty cute in his pic. He looks a little crazy...I like crazy.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 14, 2020 6:22 PM |
It’s not a fail. It’s a lot of star power for their cover if they had been nominated, and the fact that they were not adds additional publicity to Vanity Fair so they win either way
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 14, 2020 9:34 PM |
She's no more interesting than the Spice Girls or the Kardashians or Jennifer Garner or any other famewhore famous for being famous.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 14, 2020 11:07 PM |
How is it a fail? J-Lo is still a huge topic of discussion for the supposed "snub", not to mention the rumours of her not getting along with Shakira for the Super Bowl. Eddie Murphy is still a star regardless.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 14, 2020 11:19 PM |
Who’s that old white woman behind Eddie?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 14, 2020 11:22 PM |
R28 Hilary Duff and Rachel Evans Woods both look like they had a bad case of bacteria vaginosis.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 14, 2020 11:27 PM |
R32 lol that's oddly specific.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 14, 2020 11:30 PM |
I miss Graydon Carter.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 14, 2020 11:35 PM |
I'm ashamed that the VANITY FAIR cover and the title of this thread fills me with malicious glee, much like the thread about actors who (erroneously) thought they'd win an award.
Such a magazine cover demonstrates (at least to me) such self-importance, self-aggrandizement, self-entitlement, that I find pleasure (but I know it's wrong of me) in seeing these astoundingly wealthy actors get taken down just a notch.
THE HOLLYWOOD ISSUE! Maybe they'll walk by a magazine stand and see it while they think of their Oscar snubs.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 14, 2020 11:36 PM |
Wow JLO looks like she’s MTF.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 15, 2020 12:04 AM |
I had subscription for years. Then it just became like 75% ads. It's boring now. Just like their parties.
