The first season was fun, glad it will be back soon. Could use something to binge this month.

I enjoyed the second season. I hope they focus less on that selfish, annoying girl.

Sex Education without nudity. No wonder nobody cares to learn about it. MEH!

New trailer. Is that Eric's new boyfriend? Man, he's handsome. Can't wait to watch this.

Not even three minutes into the season opener and I already had to pause it to compose myself. This show is SO naughty, omg! 😳
Hope Maeve's brother makes an appearance. Loved his meaty thighs last season.

r10 Totally. I'm on the fourth episode right now and it is so good.
Best song choices around and the gay content is some of the best on television as well. I still have a stupid grin on my face...

Its not like they seem to be desperate for money r15, even if it is unpaid I could see the character wanting to devote her time to it.
Which reminds me of the biggest plothole, trying to convince us that house has one bathroom.

what year does this show take place? they use smart phones, yet dress like it's the 80s/early 90s
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 18, 2020 4:50 AM |
Just finished the season. Really enjoyed it. Loved the alien sex version of Romeo and Juliet. I really like how they’re so unspecific with location and time period. It feels both current and old at the same time, like it could be a parallel earth.
Yeah no way a house of that size only has one bathroom. They could have said there were two bathrooms and just have had one bathroom out of order with Jakob fixing it.
Wish we had more time devoted to the army training camp and the two lads jerking each other off.
The cinematography is stunning. Everyone in the school except Maeve has outlandish clothing style.

by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 18, 2020 1:47 PM |
Heh, I just watched that scene r22. The point was the dream caused her to notice what was always going on, like she said when she was doing the online test she had always checked out both women and men on the street.
Frankly I was surprised it is treated as a coming out because I thought the character was always meant to be queer, wasn't she wearing some pride pin or something in season 1?

Yes r90. She was always there as part of the Anwar gang of plastics. Though she didnt get the focus she got this season.
I thought her and Otis were funny together, but I couldn't help but think if the genders were reversed and she didnt remember having sex with Otis it would be a VERY different episode. But because it was the guy who was blackout that makes it okay.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 18, 2020 6:03 PM |
Just saw episode two and man, I was crushed when the two guys turned on Adam because he caught them jerking each other off. They could've been best friends if only they had one honest talk and Adam could've stayed at school and had some friends (with benefits?).
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 18, 2020 8:56 PM |
I wanted to post a screenshot of something, but I see now that some are only on episode two, so I'll wait a bit longer.
What a stunning show this is. You know, I was part of the group which set up the show's official subreddit last year and since the very beginning, people have expressed mainly these three concerns after they had seen the first season:
1.) Is Otis maybe asexual and are the showrunners trying to erase asexuality?
2.) Are they going to have Adam be gay and erase bisexuality in the process? (these two groups are big on "erasure," if you haven't yet noticed that by now)
3.) Are they really going to pair Eric up with his abuser/bully?
And somehow, the showrunners listened to all of that and addressed it wonderfully. Every time I cringed that they might blow a delicate subject matter (atheism, douching, MeToo...), they surprised me all over again and managed to convey those ideas in the best possible way. It's not as showy, but this level of consistently amazing writing is as genius as PWB's work, if you ask me.
It's one of those shows I'd recommend to anyone, without reservation - the things adult character deal with on this show are surprisingly nuanced and mature, so it's not all just about the teenagers. It's also the best gay show around, when you take into account how many people it reaches. And Gillian Anderson dancing in a gay bar - come on, that's one of those things I never knew my soul needed until I actually saw it on the screen! 😄

Adam literally just had to say "It's fine, I won't tell, I used to mess around with a guy as well." Though he was still struggling with his sexuality at the time, so I can see why he wouldn't want to reveal that bit to anyone, let alone to guys at a military academy.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 18, 2020 11:38 PM |
Yes it would have been unrealistic for the character so freely talk about then r34.
When Adam at the end of the season wanted to find out what he is good at...go into porn man! The character has a huge dick and isn't the school type.
Also with the Anwar sex advice ep I guess he inherently knew he would bottom, but there was a missed opportunity there to explore the top/bottom question of gay relationships. It's a part of gay guys trying to navigate their sexuality for the first time, could have been a fun plotline.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 19, 2020 1:13 AM |
I'm sure the top/bottom thing will be explored eventually, maybe even in the next season. Though the actors have gotten so tall, I don't know for how long they can maintain the illusion of them being perpetually sixteen. Adam looks like a 40-year-old as it is.
Bonus non-spoilery screenshot of Jackson filling up a yellow (orange?) polo like a god. It's like it was poured onto him. 🤤

R31 Did you just come out of the womb and discovered gender inequalities? Women are raped at parties far more often than men, which doesn't mean the reverse is "okay" but it just nearly doesn't have the same impact if a man blacks out during sex. And they clearly were both consented even though none of them clearly remembered what happened. They were drunk, it happens.

Did you notice this gag? In the first season, they say Adam's cock looks like two Coke cans stacked on top of each other.
Twitter and Reddit are full of memes of people in wheelchairs being thrown off high places right now because people are so upset with Isaac after that finale. And I don't know how to feel about that, i.e. the writers making the disabled person into a villain. Oh, and I thought his brother was the most attractive guy on the show. Exactly my type. Still trying to find out the actor's name...
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 19, 2020 11:21 AM |
R44 They get to have it both ways with Isaac being the villain. They get woke points for having him be a love interest for Maeve (which is obviously what's going to happen in S3) and by having him be a bad person they made him a realistic character who just happens to be disabled.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 19, 2020 11:38 AM |
I totally missed that R44. I remembered he's supposed to have a big dick but forgot the Coke can comment. These shows being a year apart is too much for my old brain.
And I don't know how to feel about that, i.e. the writers making the disabled person into a villain.
Isn't the whole goal that people with disabilities should just be treated like normal people? I appreciated the way the wrote the character, he was just a new character, he could have not been in a wheel chair and have been written the same way..
But yes I did look at the subreddit and man I guess the younger audience is really, really emotionally invested in Otis and Maeve's romantic relationship ship are they are enraged they didnt get together this season.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 19, 2020 2:17 PM |
Yes, young people are huge on Otis and Mave, with some even saying their relationship is what makes this show. Which is patently untrue and also super breeder-centric. There are so many relationships that makes this show awesome. Jackson's and Viv's dynamic is something I hadn't seen before, for example. Or even the relationship between Jackson and his non-biological mom. That was amazing to watch.
Speaking of, loved the visual gag of two lesbians not being able to change a tire. 😄

My hole clenched up the moment Rahim started explaining douching, but then he mentioned it isn't needed if you eat the daily recommended amount of fibre. Which is of course the correct answer. So glad they didn't go with the American school of thought where there needs to be douching regardless or there will be screaming and crying, lol.
He's so cute. I've seen some comments elsewhere saying he didn't respect Eric's religious beliefs, but can you blame him? Again, glad they included that bit about religious persecution; last season was all about how religion is great when it comes to the gays. Such a well-balanced show.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 19, 2020 2:48 PM |
You don't need to douche if you eat fiber? Yeah, sure.
I'm glad they made the wheelchair guy an asshole, minorities being portrayed as realistic people and not martyrs or poor helpless souls who can do no wrong is progress.
Can people PLEASE post screenshots of Asa's ass? I've had a crush on him for years. Oh, and also, does Maeve's brother come back and get naked? That shot of him on the couch wearing nothing but those clinging briefs was the hottest thing in Season One.

Found the American. 😆
But yes, dear. This is what any actual medical professional - or those of us who take care of our bodies and eat the RDA of fibre - will tell you. Just like him saying douching more than three times per week can mess up the beneficial bacteria and mucus lining in your rectum. Glad they went with established medical advice instead of the gay folklore from overseas...

I found Issac very sexy. I assume he is disabled in real life, did anyone notice the deep hollow below his Adam’s apple, he must have had a trach at some point in his life..
by Anonymous | reply 54 | January 19, 2020 3:31 PM |
Isaac's confidence is very sexy, yes. His face as well, of course. I wonder if he's an actual romantic possibility for Maeve. I would like to see that next season.
I also enjoyed his relationship with his brother/carer. That was cute.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 19, 2020 3:34 PM |
It is true that any medical professional will tell you that frequent douching is bad for you.
Take a dump, clean up afterwards, and you are ready for anal sex. Douching should not be regularly done.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | January 19, 2020 3:34 PM |
I was surprised by the douching storyline as it isn't really as big a part of gay culture here in the UK as it is in the US so it felt very out of place. I'm a hungry bottom, have never douched in my entire life, wouldn't even know what to do with one and have never shat myself during anal sex.
Admittedly a LOT of stuff on Sex Education is out of place for the UK audience as it's heavily targeted toward an international audience. I moaned about this in the thread for S1 but the 'high school' in Sex Education is completely unrecognisable to Brits. They've basically transplanted a US high school into the Welsh countryside, put people from all over the UK into the local community and stuck a trailer park in it (caravan parks in the UK are for holidays - you're not allowed to live in them). Still love it, obviously.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 19, 2020 3:41 PM |
I appreciated Anwar's boyfriend saying "unless you don't mind it getting a bit messy" and not in a jokey way either. I'm sorry, but this is a very common thing to say among my (non-American) gay friends, so I'm glad they didn't go with the "everything must be SPARKLY clean down there at ALL TIMES" explanation.
They really take the didactic part of their show seriously and make everything so inclusive, it's great!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 19, 2020 3:42 PM |
So the lack of tornadoes in the UK can be a direct correlation to the outlaw of trailer parks? Fascinating!
by Anonymous | reply 59 | January 19, 2020 3:43 PM |
Of course he's disabled. Casting an able-bodied actor in this role is akin to blackface these days, and for good reason.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | January 19, 2020 3:58 PM |

I enjoyed season one, but season two was far better. They really hit their stride on all levels. The writing was very good and the cast is pretty fantastic across the board. They have managed to make you care about even the characters that are normally set up to be hated. The Adam character is particularly heart-breaking. It's also nice to have a fantasy world where all of the people seem to just accept each other's differences without a second thought.

I love Gillian Anderson as the mom who can be a drunken lush in one scene and have a big drama moment where she falls apart after Jacob refuses to come back to her.
I also loved how the show dealt with the sexual assault storyline that made Aimee terrified of riding the bus.
Call me selfish, but I would love a similar storyline for gay guys where they bond over sharing their experience of, say, gay bashing (or being rejected by their family and / or peers) and then have their own empowerment scene where they do something similar as the girls (who smash stuff).
I love how much of a douche and arsehole Otis' dad turns out. His fight with the tent is hilarious. And the whole book reading and the signing scene. LOL. I also loved that, in the end, Otis had his mother's back.
I am ashamed to admit it, but I would so jerk off Isaac if he'd ask. He has some devilish charm.
Love how gay the show is. Even gay sideshow characters like Amwar have their charming moments.

Of course they made two characters lesbian, lol! Why not give more screen time to the gays they already have? I love Eric but he's a walking, breathing stereotype. Adam is a normal, masculine gay guy, one we hardly ever see on tv. I'd love to see more of him. I also loved Anwar this season, though we only saw him for like two seconds. He was so cute with his boyfriend. I would have loved to see more of them, yet again he didn't get any screen time at all. Fucking Ruby who is as dull as a dishwasher got more screen time. It's fucking insulting to give Ola and Lilly more screen time than Anwar, who has been on the show since season 1. Also, the lesbian sex scene was WAY longer than any of the gay sex scenes... wonder why? The sex scene (if you can even call it that) between Anwar and his boyfriend (do we even know his name? Fucking BULLSHIT!) lasted for a split second, yet we get to see Ola and Lilly rubbing their clit?? Yeah, ok. That's totally fair. Once again the lesbian sex scenes are drawn out. Can only have a split second for the gays, as usual. I might be over this show unless they suddenly start to treat their gays better. Fucking Max and Santiago got a longer sex scene on El Club. They were actually seen having sex with Santago pounding Max and cumming in his ass. The sex scene wasn't that long, but it was about the same as the straight sex scenes. My point is: the gays got treated the same as the straights, unlike with Sex Education where the gay sex scenes are much shorter than the lesbian and straight ones. It's insulting, hypocritical and infuriating.
Love how gay the show is. Even gay sideshow characters like Amwar have their charming moments.
WHAT THE FUCK?! It's not gay at all. The only gay they even give some screen time is Eric, once again a walking, breathing stereotype. Forget about the other gays, Adam and Anwar who hardly get any screen time at all and are treated like shit. Both are more interesting than boring Eric. It's fucking insulting that a brand new character like Eric's boyfriend get more screen time than Adam, who is arguably the most complex and interesting of ALL the characters on the show. Adam doesn't get any screen time at all. Anwar is cute and has been on the show since the first episode in season 1, why not give him and his boyfriend more screen time? Like... give them an actual storyline except for that lame douching subplot that was resolved in one episode. Anwar, one of the gays, is the one who gets the least amount of screen time by far... EVERYONE got more screen time this season, Ruby, Aimee etc... How long did that fucking plot about the guy who jizzed on her clothes last? ENOUGH. They don't know how to handle storylines on this show. The most interesting get the least amount of screen time and the less interesting get the most. I'm so annoyed at Anwar and his boyfriend not getting more storylines, same with Adam who I felt was forgotten this season. Fucking Adam's parents got a more fleshed out storyline than he did. He is treated like shit, as usual. All the interesting gays, Anwar and Adam get the short end of the stick while flaming Eric who is annoying af gets all the scenes. ENOUGH. I will not watch the next season unless the gays I care about (aka Adam and Anwar) get more screen time.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | January 25, 2020 9:26 AM |
Oh and for the love of god, PLEASE break up Eric and Adam. They are better off as friends, not as lovers. In the real world a guy like Adam wouldn't even look twice at someone like Eric. I'd love them as friends, Eric who is more experienced and confident in his sexuality could sort of be Adam's mentor, making him get more comfortable in his sexuality. Now THAT would be interesting to see, not an unrealistic relationship, that shit is boring. Adam needs to fall in love with someone new, who he doesn't have all the baggage with. There's just too much water under the bridge for Adam and Eric now.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | January 25, 2020 9:33 AM |
Eric, once again a walking, breathing stereotype
You really are a self-hating homo, aren't you? Some gays are like that, get the fuck over it already. Where the hell do you think stereotypes come from? They weren't dreamt up by TV writers. I can't believe anyone - especially someone on a gay site - would go after as joyous and universally beloved a character as Eric. How myopic.
It's fucking insulting that a brand new character like Eric's boyfriend get more screen time than Adam, who is arguably the most complex and interesting of ALL the characters on the show.
I disagree. He's only interesting because he stirs that deep "straight bro gone gay" fantasy in people like you who want nothing more than to pass as straight.

I quite like the side characters like Maureen Groff (Adam's mom and the principal's wife) played by Samantha Spiro. I thought her storyline this season was well done and the advice she gave to her son at the end was probably the most un-British thing ever.

Wow, Rahim is a good judge of character. He fucking NAILED it when he said Adam would just end up hurting Eric. We can all see it. My guess is Adam, who was never ready to get into a relationship in the first place, will end up cheating on Eric (hopefully with a guy), next season. He needs more screen time, to flesh out his character, his relationship with his parents, properly coming out, his feelings/attractions, more sex talk etc. He needs to be treated the same as the lesbians this season. Give him more friends, maybe Anwar and his boyfriend can be his friends, he needs guidance as a newly out gay, it would also properly establish Anwar with the group, which could give him more screen time too.

R75 LOOOOOL. You must be a frau. Straight bros don't find stereotypical, walking breathing clichés as threatening. What they find threatening is a straight-acting, masculine guy being into dick. Straight bros never take effeminate gays seriously because they see them as women and they have power over women, it's due to the patriarchy and it's misandry, pure and simple. Straight-acting, masculine guys who are gay threaten the patriarchy. Especially unapologetic gays who are not afraid to be out and proud as gay men, just simply MEN who like MEN. Why do you think we hardly ever see masculine gay guys on tv? Again, straight guys don't like it, it's suicide for a show to have masculine gay guys, flaming effeminate comedy guys are ok however. They are non-threatening and never taken seriously anyway. Straight men just can't wrap their heads around the fact that masculine men are into dick instead of pussy.

R78 Indeed. I started out hating Rahim, he was just too perfect. Though I have to admit that pairing did/does make more sense than Eric and Adam. What won me over however was him spilling the tea. Adam will hurt him, he's a fucking emotional mess who never properly dealt with being bi/gay/whatever. Adam is not ready to be in a relationship and will just end up hurting Eric.

Adam is either jealous or impressed how Eric can be himself and yet is loved and accepted by his family and his friends, like Otis. The only moment you see Adam smile is when Eric's mom and sisters approach him in the final episode.
Physical appearance isn't the only thing that can make a person appealing. Confidence or a great sense of humor can make a person appealing, too.
Adam is either jealous or impressed how Eric can be himself and yet is loved and accepted by his family and his friends, like Otis.
The scene from Season 1 when outcast Adam is watching Eric's dad show love towards him and his prom outfit was powerful. Now that we know more about his his dad treats him at home, I like the fact that Adam will like have Eric's family for support.
While I don't think they should be together in the long term, I think that maybe this will save Adam from becoming his father because they were clearly drawing parallels between the two.
Oh and for the love of god, PLEASE break up Eric and Adam. They are better off as friends, not as lovers. In the real world a guy like Adam wouldn't even look twice at someone like Eric.
You're completely overlooking the fact that some masc guys LIKE femme guys.
Also that they're literally in the middle of nowhere and as Eric pointed out in the first season: there aren't that many (age appropriate) gay men.
In season one: Anwar hates Eric, Nick is of course with Anwar & Rahim wasn't even in the picture.

Rahim was a boring character. The actor wasn't great. Which actually stands out on this show because a lot of the young cast is quite strong.

I was wondering when the likes of r73/r74/r79/r85/r88 would show up! I'm pretty sure he's the same one from the first season's thread who kept going on and on about how a guy like Adam would never look twice at a guy like Eric, thereby making his issues visible from space. I look forward to season 3 disappointing and angering him even further.

I'm not that poster but in my life experience I haven't seen many couples like Eric and Adam.
But of course it's a TV show. Pairing up characters is what TV shows do.

^^ A million views in two days; the Frenchies are fucking obsessed with this show. There are so many reviews in French on YouTube as well. In fact, it was such a big hit there last year, that I think they cast another French actor as a nod to that.
Are they repressed over there, or what?
by Anonymous | reply 102 | January 26, 2020 4:31 PM |
Right. The idea that Adam wouldn't even look at Eric because Eric is ugly doesn't make sense because Adam looks like Patrick from Spongebob.

As for what year the show takes place in ...
A lot of productions have wised up: they make shows as timeless as possible. Watching it 10 years from now won't be the same as watching an old episode of Friends.
On Sabrina they watch old movies but they have cell phones. They all wear underwear you'd see someone wearing decades ago but they have laptops. There's no or very few mentions of anything that would give the time period away.
The series Legion was notorious for making it as confusing as possible to tell what year the show took place in.
The same thing happens on this show. You can assume it takes place now or within the last decade or so.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | January 27, 2020 2:11 AM |

R103 Adam might not be stunningly beautiful, but he is masculine. A guy like Adam would never go for a guy like Eric in real life. Eric is a 2 while Adam is a 6. He's masculine and tall and that makes a world of difference. Eric is fug and effeminate. Once again a stereotypical gay character is added to a show for laughs. This is NOT progress. We need more masculine and normal gays on tv, like the gays on the 911 spin-off. Enough with the stereotypical and effeminate gays. We are more than just laughs for straight people. Most gay men are not walking, breathing stereotypes. I'm sick of only seeing that one stereotype on tv. We're in 2020 ffs.

The tech will. be dated and their use of tech will look quaint in ten years. Look at movies from the 1950s-60s the tech from that era looks dated. Sci Fi movies about the future look even more ridiculous as they try and forecast what the future will be.

"Stereotype" is codeword for "femme" in this instance and it's gross. Self-hating homos are truly the worst; no end to their bitterness and complaining.

R112, I said "as timeless as possible."
Cell phones and laptops may change but the general design of them has stayed pretty much the same over the last decade.
The people on these shows don't wear outfits that you couldn't have gotten away with a decade or longer ago. They don't even have hairstyles that are whatever flavor of the week people currently have.
And they also mix it up intentionally. You might see an old timey TV from the 80s in someone's house randomly. You might see a flat screen in another scene.
Idiotic passportless American fraupotomi are the only people who would believe that the UK has as many completely unnecessary extra bathrooms as their suburban US tombs.
R122: Maybe, partly so.
The house is not nearly as large (internally) as it is impressive, and that the house might have one bathroom is quite believable (if not for some Americans). Certainly it had no more than one or one plus a water closet when built in 1912. As the interiors were depicted it was well-maintained but layered with various phases of renovation, none of them seemingly completed in this century. Setting aside artistic license, the inexplicable thing is that the one bathroom in the house would be on the 2nd floor (US 3rd floor), tucked under the eaves. It would absolutely have been on the ground or first (US 2nd) floor.
Garret rooms with their bold angles of roof eaves have forever been a favorite for adolescent children's bedroom in film and TV, but they were never a favorite for siting the one bathroom in a house.
Following on interest from the series, the owners of the Herefordshire house are preparing to offer it as a luxury self-catering holiday cottage.

You know what I loved most about this season? Giving a gay highschooler the fantasy of nabbing the hottest guy in school who also happens to be a French exchange student. Who amongst us, eh?
I just adore this gorgeous atheist fairy. And I love how this show made me annoyed with my favourite character, Eric, because he didn't click with what I would consider the perfect boyfriend. But you know what? That's exactly how romance works - things might look perfect on paper, but if there's no spark... Also loved how his nana (mom?) said that while Sufjan's "Mystery of Love" was playing in the background. How apt.

I'm not a bit fan of crippled people being villains in film or TV, not because I think disabled people aren't capable of being villains or bad people, but because crippled people aren't threatening. If a guy in a wheelchair does something awful or evil to you why wouldn't you just walk up behind him, push him to the ground, take his chair and walk away?
Pretty hard to feel threatened by somebody who can be turned into a turtle on its back in seconds.

by Anonymous | reply 141 | February 1, 2020 2:38 AM |
R140 That's dumb af. Do you physically assault everyone who wrongs you in some way? Wheelchair or not, if you're right in the head you're not going to assault someone just because they're mean to you. This has nothing to do with being "threatening". Also, if your first thought when a disabled person acts like a dick is to push them to the ground, you have issues.

by Anonymous | reply 153 | February 1, 2020 1:16 PM |
Lily's interest in girls was not hinted at all, which I find strange seeing how penis obsessed she is, but I suppose the writers will toss it up to fluidity. I do however feel that the romance between her and Ola would not have happened if the cast was less centralized. Sex Education is falling into the same trap that other shows fall into where all characters dates each other. It's not that it is bad writing, rather a clumsy trope. I half expect Eric and Maeve to hook up next season. Or perhaps, Maeve and Adam have a one night stand. Eric gets angry with Maeve and Otis takes Maeve's side, splitting up their friendship. Still, the most unbelievable thing about this show will be those two teachers fucking.
Also R152, offer proof that straight people are laughing at Eric because, right now, it looks like [bold]you[/bold] are the one not accepting.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | February 1, 2020 1:23 PM |

No one is laughing at Eric. Though you've just revealed your deepest insecurity right there - you're terrified that (straight) people are going to laugh at you if you don't cover yourself with muscle and act masc 24/7. Who could've predicted your issue with Eric is actually an issue you have with yourself, eh? I hope you realise one day there's so much more to life than constantly worrying about other people's perceptions. You give others - and yourself - space to be who they are when you get over that self-conscious mentality.

I think the issue was not so much the money, but that his mom (the white one) wanted him to be a champion swimmer as she had once been. As she and Jackson discussed in the final episode of the season (or maybe it was the penultimate one), she saw swimming as a way that she, the non-bio mom, could bond with Jackson and pass something on to him.
