I am a Hollywood actor whose looking to come out to the public after being raped by a beloved producer AMA
So I posted in the casual ama subreddit yesterday because I tried to post in the verified AMA subreddit but was directed there due to my inability to give out proof. I’m still trying to figure out how to do that.
My rapist helped me build my career. The abuse happened on a film set over the course of 8 months. He started with getting me drunk and touching my private’s to asking me if I wanted to know how it felt to have something inserted into me. He did this again and again, and when it hurt I felt uncomfortable telling him because I felt like he just wanted to make me feel good. Once the filming was over I was told by him that if I ever talked about what happened between us he would take my credits off of the film. He eventually started contacting me due to the success of the film and my ability to keep his secret. I think he wanted to help me to keep me quiet to be honest. He helped me build a really successful career. I spent years ignoring what happened to me, only for it to destroy my mental health. I was diagnosed with BPD in the summer of 2013 after a suicide attempt. During which time I was finally able to remember details of what happened to me.
I watched Leaving Neverland this past weekend, and it tore me apart. I relate to both of the survivors, primarily Safechuck in how he dealt with the abuse, internalizing it, and Robson in how he developed a need to please MJ and continued to support him publicly. I felt that both of those men are telling the truth because of how much their stories mirrored mine.
I am currently in the process of building a case to come out publicly, but I need time and courage to do so. My reason for posting on reddit is I am a ghost user normally, I am on here all of the time casually, and I know the community is one that is on the more intelligent side and could help me move on to the next step of coming out. Also, I fucking feel like it.
A few things: Please don’t play the guessing game, I’m not going to respond to it.
Yes, I have a team of lawyers, and psychiatrists and psychologists that are bound to secrecy by the laws within HIPPA.
My family is not capable of comprehending the situation. So don’t even ask.
I will not contact Ronan Farrow, I’ve debated this approach, but I want this to be different and I feel a lot of people in Hollywood find him to be an inauthentic source. Woody Allen is someone I fear in Hollywood. He is also a good example of why I’m so terrified of talking about this publicly. He can make or break a career, easily. I do want to get hired again. Especially for more serious roles.

A: (to a now-deleted comment) First of all asshat, I am attention seeking, because I live in a fucking world of torment thanks to this piece of shit. YOU HAVE NO IDEA what my life is like, so step the fuck back and look at yourself. Why do you have such a need to knock someone down who is coming forward with this shit? I am not gay, and even if I was, I wouldn't give a fuck.
Going to the police with this sort of thing is extremely complicated, and if you weren't a fucking idiot, you would know that. They can't prove shit without a rape kit that cannot even be used this long after an event. Plenty of people come forward, but the police can't prove dick. Especially since what happened to me happened when I was a fucking kid and I was confused as all hell. It was also long before smart phones.

Q: Do you have any anger towards your parents? If so, how do you deal with it? Are you still on speaking terms with them? It seems that many of these parents gave their children to the abusers.
A: I barely speak to my parents, and yes I do resent them for other reasons. Although, What happened to me on set had nothing to do with them.

Q: Do you fear that coming out will be bad for your brand? Does the possible loss of your career silence you from telling the truth or is there other factors involved?
Whatever you choose to do there will always be support out there for you. People are finally starting to realize that this type of thing happens all the time.
A: Of course. Even though people stood behind the victims of Weinstein, those women are still not getting any roles anywhere.

Q: What can I/we do to help you and others in your situation? Reddit, by and large, is a community that I believe wants to help.
A: There isn't much anybody can do aside from believing victims and stop victim shaming. It really fucks with the head of victims, believe me.

Q: Of course, I hope you pull through this. Wishes of strength.
I’m interested in what happens not just with the coming out but with the cobbling together of a legal suit. I assume that’s why you’ve got a team of lawyers? To expose your assailant and seek justice? What are they recommending to you as far as actions/the path forward? What do people in your situation facing a case of A said/B said - people in that untenable legal situation - actually technically do to mount a case?
A: Right now, finding other victims. That's the biggest thing.

Q: If you do come out with this, will you be going with the #metoo movement? I’ve seen some reports where actors and actresses are staying away from it nowadays. Why or why not?
A: The MeToo movement is not my cup of tea. Mostly because it's been sensationalized, and also because of the way most people view it in the public outside of Hollywood. People love to hate people that cry sexual assault, why is this? It's a complex thing that is embedded in our culture. Mostly, it's because people who have a feeling they may have committed sexual assault or have been sexually assaulted, and feel nothing about it, see it as a cop out or a plea for attention for some reason. It shows how emotionally unwell we are as a species.

A: Do you have a career? Anyone with a career would know that losing your career will truly effect your mental health even more so.
Q: As someone with a career, yeah, my mental health comes first. I would find something else to do if what I was doing was that detrimental to me. I’ve come very close before, too, to switching careers for mental health reasons. It isn’t losing a career as much as making the decision that pursuing that career isn’t worth the price you pay.
A: When your career is completely isolated in a community that requires a lot of different variables, going off and doing something else is entirely complicated. What do you do? It's much different if you have a bachelors in business or communications, you can find a variety of "careers" with that experience. My situation is fantastically different. Changing careers is not simple. It's difficult, and there is a lot of risk.

Q: I hope you have proof... coming forward and going public without proof can damage yourself and can result in a lawsuit against you.
Why did you mention the MJ documentary on HBO? As this is just reddit could also be a social media advertising for the documentary..... as for the documentary both denied under oath a miss treatment from MJ and now he is 10 years dead... what ever happened this is not right. They are lying either in the past or present.
A: HERP DERP. REALLLY?! I HAD NO IDEA!
Wow, some MJ fans are truly fucking sick. This week of seeing how these fucking shit heads have been treating the situation really gives me anxiety about this entire scenario.

Q: If he's still famous then this guy probably has other victims. You never know who you might be helping or saving from this. Plus there's always the possibility that other victims might come forward.
A: I have to find them before I come out. I am not credible. I’ve had many public meltdowns in the tabloids.
Q: I don't think people will jump to disbelief. And maybe the victims will come forward on their own once you do. Is there anyone, like an agent or a lawyer that you trust to talk to about this?
Hollywood is a vile disgusting thing and needs to be burned to the ground, don't let any of these guys have anymore protection.
A: I’ve spoken to my lawyer about it, and he doesn’t give that kind of advice. Legally, I’m protected, but mentally I don’t think I could handle it. I’m a mess. The whole MJ thing just made me more terrified of coming out.
It is, I’ve been trying to take it down in my own way.
A: It is, I’ve been trying to take it down in my own way.
Q How so?
A: Just going against what’s normalized

Q: Guys, this feels extremely fishy. (If this really did happen to you, I'm sorry and I really think getting in contact with Farrow would be the best idea.) But look at the information awkwardly sprinkled throughout this AMA. Just enough nuggets of information to point to one likely candidate. Fears that their identity might be exposed but leaves this post up? Casualama is a hotbed for pathological liars and this just seems like a half-baked attempt at trolling the internet.
A: You're actually wrong. People like you are also the reason I am in the situation I'm in. I'm leaving the post up because I fucking want to. Theres no evidence I am anyone.
This isn't the first time someone with a similar story to yours has done this.
Unless your ready to start naming names, why would you do a ama? The entire post is going to be people guessing who you are.
The only issue I have is: Everytime someone does a ama like this it ends with nothing. Just speculation. If your sincere and DON'T start naming names, your part of the "Hollywood pedo" problem. Your not the guys first or last victim.
So that leads me to think your a troll. Prove me wrong and name some names.
A: Your approval doesn’t really matter to me honestly. I have my reasons. If it makes you feel good about yourself to try and call someone claiming they’ve been sexual abuse victim a liar then that’s your deal.
I know who I am, and I know how this post makes me look. People don’t care about Reddit to the extent some of you guys think. I’m not worried about it so much. Just wanted a real conversation about my situation.

" I was diagnosed with BPD in the summer of 2013 after a suicide attempt. "
That means you will not be taken seriously by the public, or courts. Or at least, by anyone who's ever had anything to do with Borderline Personality Disorder cases.
So you'd better start looking for other victims of the same guy right away.

Q: I don't think anyone here is saying "this person is lying about being sexually abused" specifically. We're saying "this person might not be who they say they are", meaning the entire post might be a lie.

Q: So do you think that if you would've said no to him or reported him earlier would you been so famous or successful.
A: Absolutely not. He hooked me up with producers at a famous childrens network, they are the ones who really boosted my career. I was the star of my own show for most of my teens because of this man.
Q: If you could do it all over again would you
A: No.
Q: I can relate lol..in other words you owe your success to him..Do you still keep in contact with him
A: Nah, he wants nothing to do with me.

If OP is just some rando stirring up shit online, that's super fucked up and they should be ashamed of inventing trauma for another person just to entertain themselves. This should be deleted ASAP. It's fucked up.
If OP is genuine, then this should still be deleted. These conflicting statements and behaviors are indicative of someone who really feels like there is no point to what they're doing and could potentially lead to self-harm. Having people respond to this may only exacerbate OP's frame of mind.
TL;DR Whether or not this is fake or genuine, it should be deleted. Please delete this, mods.
A: Nobody has guessed who I am. If someone did, this shit would have been deleted. I feel secure enough to leave it up because it honestly just makes me feel good to get it off my chest to the world.
If the mods want to delete it. So be it. I don’t care. All this has shown me is that I am not going to reveal myself and my truth to the world because people like you give me a lot of fucking anxiety about the entire scenario.

I agree with R31. You will lose your career without question if you go public. No one will want to be connected with this.
Isn't your career something you're proud of and want to protect? Wouldn't it be the worst thing if, besides the turmoil you're going through, you have lost a presumably glamorous and lucrative occupation?
Think of how you'll feel if you lose your livelihood forever. Then you'll still have the anxiety but no way to retrieve your professional fulfillment

I'm not sure if this is real or not but I don't particularly care for stuff like this. Either publicly come out with accusations (while naming names ) or discuss it with your therapist. The problem with this tactic is people start speculating and the names of innocent people inevitably get dragged in. As of late I've seen a lot of paranoia from right wing types that Hollywood is some sort of hotbed of pedos. While cases of child abuse no doubt happen there, I don't really buy that it's any more common in showbiz than it is in any other environment where adults are around kids (schools, small town communities, etc ). I just feel all stuff like this perpetuates the right wing bullshit about "decadent immoral liberals " when 9 times out of 10 these types of abuses are happening in a middle American suburb or small town but those stories never get attention.

This is a very young kid. He said he was 12 in 2012. He's around 20 now, I assume, so he's really young and does feel like coming out with this story could derail his career. Which it could. But, if this is his concern, you certainly don't go on Reddit, and announce the world that an unnamed Hollywood producer was shoving dildos up yer teen keester!
This could be the Disney kid who came out as a victim this past spring, seeing as they look to be close in age. Regardless, sexual seduction/abuse fucks up young men, and he should stick with therapy and stay off message boards.
He should also get in touch with James Safechuck and seek guidance from him. He's probably the only person in the world who can relate to abuse of this type (Hollywood power dynamic.)

Normal film shoots 3 months, some Indies are 1-2 months.

This is very disturbing news. I've seen this guy in marvel comic movies.

It may be “disturbing” but it’s certainly not surprising! Children have been victims in Hollywood for decades. I mainly blame the parents that are pimping them out. This is nothing new, and quite frankly, I can’t muster any sympathy for OP. Who knows, maybe he asked for more roles and was willing to “do what it takes.”

OP/the original author of these posts ie the victim, Regretfully DL disses every man that relays a story of childhood sexual abuse whether it occurred in school, by family, relatives or neighbors, etc. This goes beyond normal skeptical responses to a generally cold lack of sympathy. Then DL posts threads on children who commit suicide due to bullying and questions why it keeps occurring and no one speaks up to stop it.
OP, I wish I could do more than offer my sympathy and understanding. I do agree with those kind posters who earlier stated that you must face the end of your performing career and be willing to move to another state if you come forward publicly. Expect that public reaction fueled by "cleaners" in Hollywood will be far worse than you can ever imagine.
I've never had to deal with any overt sexual harassment , I was always teased for being too naive. No worries as I enjoy making people laugh. Yes I saw others fall into a trap along with drug and alcohol addiction, however.

In R8 he says he sees the guy all the time and they're "friends" (quotes his). In R19, he says the guy wants nothing to do with him.

R106, Obviously you've got a compulsive scat fetish with the mentality of a little bitty 3-year-old, although you're probably well over 350 lbs by now, right? How's your mother's basement in FL? Still angry you got kicked out of your senior citizen trailer park for being a nuisance and a drunk/druggie?

OP, How ironic. SAG-AFTRA just sent all Hollywood members a survey on sexual harassment and potential remedies.

R105, There are those I run into all the time at industry related events and parties. Technically we're "friends" but that depends on your definition of "friend." Assume OP meant that they may greet each other as a formality but that's about it.

Someone posted this here when it first happened, too.
Didn't we think this was Brendan Fraser? There was an article last year about how the HFPA "investigated" Fraser's claim that he was groped by HFPA president Phillip Berk and decided Berk was "just joking." Fraser was pretty pissed off about it, for obvious reasons.

The only blockbuster movie I can think of that came out in 2012 that had a bunch of child actors was Super 8. I think the casting director got arrested but the mainstream news did very little coverage on it.

No he didn't say he was 12 in 2012. He said he tried to commit suicide in 2013.
"I spent years ignoring what happened to me, only for it to destroy my mental health. I was diagnosed with BPD in the summer of 2013 after a suicide attempt. During which time I was finally able to remember details of what happened to me. "
So the abuse was years before that. So he was much older in 2013.

The OP is not the original poster. This was lifted from a Reddit thread from NINE MONTHS AGO. Everyone thinks they are being supportive and communicating with the victim, but he's not here. He's never been to DL. I don't know why someone posted this, here.

When this guy says "beloved producer", I take it he means beloved in the industry. I mean what producer would be famous enough to be beloved by the general public? Is there any?

If this wasn’t someone claiming to be an actor, I would swear it’s about Aaron Carter.
Although there’s little chance of him running into Lou all the time.

R121, Wonder if OP, and not the original poster, wanted DL to speculate as to the identity of the producer and actor. Also to warn others who drop in and read DL of the ongoing issue of sexual assault of minors in the entire entertainment industry. MeToo was about adult women and not young children with selfish stage parents.
Would SS be the beloved producer? Or anyone behind Marvel and Disney blockbusters? How about those who speak at Sci Fi conventions?

R124 Lou's been dead for years and was hardly beloved at the end of his life. He may have even served time.

R128, Good looking friend, Black & Native American (Iriquois) mix, and a great singer used to live in LA County. Asked him why he never pursued a pro music career. Told me he was introduced to the right contacts by a good bud.
Then he found out he'd have to fuck an old, obese woman in front of a group of people and that it would be filmed. Next he learned he'd have to fuck a group of old men and that all of the above wasn't going to be a one-time deal. No go.
He was in his early 20's, had an alternative good career. Imagine what it'd be like for talent from a desperately poor family? What exactly would force the music industry to change its policies?
By the way he despises American Idol and similar type competition shows. Says they're rigged and beyond phony.

Like any con man worth his salt, OP preemptively shoots down all reasonable questions about the viability of his story (having nervously tried to think through all objections in advance).
OP's most likely a cold-blooded troll whose sole intent is to intensify existing conflicts around the emotion-laden topic of sexual assault. Such is the world we live in now.
