Starring Dr. Fiona Hill and David Holmes, kicking ass and taking names.
David Holmes is smoking hot (even if he looks a little bit like Jeffrey Dahmer.) And no wedding ring.
Who's had him? Spill!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 21, 2019 7:19 PM |
Omg... David Holmes.
I haven't been watching these hearings at all, but I happened to be on MSNBC when he was speaking, and I instantly got hooked!
First off, because he's handsome.
Second, because he had some DIRT on these assholes.
He was spilling the TEA on everyone! Rofl.
He was talking about how DUMP didn't give a shit about Ukraine, how he was excluded from meetings that he shouldn't have been excluded from, how Sondland met one-on-one with his Ukraine counterpart (very out of the ordinary), and how Sondland told DUMP that the rapper who got arrested in Sweden was "fucked," and that he should just "play the race card" to get out of jail.
GURRRRLLLL!!!!
This information was clearly weighing on his mind, and he couldn't WAIT to let it all out!
I love this guy!
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 21, 2019 7:22 PM |
So I noticed that David Holmes didn't have a ring on his finger.
What's the scoop??!!

Age? Spouse? Anything?

There have been plenty of hearings, including the Muller hearings where they have been on TV and viewed worldwide where they certainlyd id not take this strong of a stance.

Summary of today's testimony's impact: It completes the picture. It connects all the threads. Hill's statement: "He (Sondland) was being involved in a domestic political errand (to pressure Ukraine to get dirt to help Trump's election). And we were being involved in national security foreign policy, and those two things had just diverged." Repubs conclude that's ok. Dems think it raises the impeachment threshold.

The fix is in;
IMPEACHMENT
White House backs full Senate trial if House impeaches Trump--White House officials and Republican senators agreed the Senate should not immediately dismiss any articles of impeachment against the president.
Top White House officials and Senate Republicans agreed that a full trial should be conducted if the House impeaches President Donald Trump, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.
A group of Republican senators met Thursday morning with White House counsel Pat Cipollone, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner to discuss impeachment strategy.

Giuliani accuses ‘Schifty’ Schiff of interfering in 2020 election
Rudy Giuliani attacked Rep. Adam Schiff on Thursday, accusing him and others of “interfering” in the 2020 presidential election.
“THE BIDEN DOCTRINE,” Giuliani tweeted ahead of the House Intelligence Committee’s final public hearing in the impeachment inquiry before the Thanksgiving break.
“@realDonaldTrump is a candidate for President,” Trump’s personal lawyer continued. “Schifty’s Committee and any other prosecutors are deliberately interfering in the 2020 election and must stop now.”
Schiff is the chair of the Intelligence Committee.
On Wednesday, US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland alleged in testimony that Giuliani orchestrated a quid pro quo with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Mr. Giuliani’s requests were a quid pro quo for arranging a White House visit for President Zelensky. Mr. Giuliani demanded that Ukraine make a public statement announcing the investigations of … Burisma,” Sondland testified, referring to the Ukraine energy company where Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, was a board member.

No it isn't to anyone who isn't a neocon themselves. He's looking for war with Iran solely because he's a rabid Zionist. Stop pretending Iran has ever declared war on us. They haven't started any fucking wars. You can take issue with their domestic policies and I hope their people overthrow their govt, but this attempt to get yet another war based on lies to further the interests of Saudi Arabia and Israel is fucking bullshit to anyone who can't see who created ISIS and AL Qaeda in the first place.
This admin has tried every attempt to claim Iran did this and/or that and no one outside of those with a vested interest in creating more enemies on behalf of special interest is buying it. Iran is not some threat to the US - it just isn't. That's a lie just like the lies about Iraq.

The name is spelled McGahn. Yes, if that decision comes out the way I hope it will, Bolton might feel OK about agreeing to testify. Say what you will about him (and I have, for years), but he's capable of influencing GOP Senators to support conviction in an impeachment trial. McConnell has already said he will convene the Senate if the House votes yes on impeachment, which, given the big Dem majority, is gonna happen. Chief Justice Roberts will chair the proceedings as per the Constitution, which is why I think McConnell is forced to comply. Very unlikely Thugs will vote yes unfortunately but on balance, more and more potential D voters will have been exposed to actual facts about Agent Orange and will vote the swamp creature and his cronies out next year.

What's coming from CNN:
Privately, Democrats are anticipating a busy December that will be filed with proceedings before the House Judiciary Committee, including public hearings and a markup, and a likely vote to impeach Trump on the House floor by Christmas Day, according to multiple Democratic sources, which would make him just the third President in history to be impeached.
The House Intelligence Committee, along with two other panels, are writing a report detailing their findings, which is expected to serve as the basis for articles of impeachment that the House Judiciary Committee will consider.
Democrats say they are still debating the size and scope of the articles, which are likely to focus on abuse of power, obstruction of justice, obstruction of Congress and bribery.
But despite speaking with 17 witnesses behind closed doors, including 12 witnesses in just a week of public testimony, Democrats have not obtained crucial documents or spoken with several key officials because the White House and State Department have refused to comply with subpoenas.

Clearly, they were using code words to hide what they were doing ("Burisma" "Hocus Pocus" "That Thing You Do" etc. With the 'escape route' of saying they were "routing out corruption" if they were ever caught.
Vocabulary-challenged Trump doesn't even know what 'quid pro quo' means. But they instructed him to say it- just in case ("I want nothing" hunh?).
Bolton, Mulvaney, Pompeo... will not cooperate. The Republican-coached witnesses were careful to never say, "Donald J. Trump deliberately tried to twist the arm of the President of the Ukraine to crush his rival for POTUS".
Tweety escapes again.

I'm not so sure, R196. The House managers will act as the prosecutors, the Chief Justice, who's not known as a Trump toady, will be the presiding officer. Don't know what role the Senate majority, as members of the jury, will play. They have the raw numbers to win some key procedural motions, although there's probably enough, with Romney, Collins & Murkowski, to defeat the more extreme ones. As the defendant, Trump will be able to put on his defense.
by Anonymous | reply 202 | November 22, 2019 1:50 AM |
There will be a team of House Reps who present the case to the Senate. I would expect Rep. Adam Schiff to take the lead. The opposition will have their own team for defense. Justice Roberts will preside.
I don’t know if McConnall has any input to the hearing, unless he’s on the defense team.

It's just Republican talking points that poor Donnie was being pursued by hordes carrying torches. He's been making serious mistakes since Day 1.
I now believe that Trump was not aware that his kids and minions conspired with Russians. That he just told them to do whatever it took to make him POTUS (and that's what it took). But he certainly knew afterwards- it happened in Trump Tower! Isn't that some kind of crime: "I knew afterwards that my people had conspired with Russians but I never said a word and ran for POTUS anyway"? Couldn't Mueller have even discovered that?

I’ll be very curious to see if the Chief Justice allows the Repukes to call the whistleblower or Hunter Biden or the chief prosecutor, Schiff, in order to delve into their ridiculous made-up allegations. No federal judge in a regular criminal trial would allow a defendant to bring in such extraneous nonsense. But this isn’t a criminal trial and the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure or Civil Procedure don’t necessarily apply.

Between now and the time this plays out in the Senate, further “Trump Dumps” (of Info) could play out:
1) Tax Returns (and evidence of malfeasance)
2) IRS whistleblower info (what’s the status of this?)
3) Redacted Mueller info
4) Leakers involved with The Kushner-MBS-Khasogghi-Edrogan-Trump-Syria connection
5) Epstein-Barr Syndrome (admittedly a wild card for the Trump admin and his history of female sexual assaults)
6) Deutsche Bank-SCOTUS Kennedy’s sudden retirement and his son’s connection at said bank with Trump
If ANY of these pop in addition to the unfolding of the Ukraine story, this could add pressure onto an already weary public. THIS then could be problematic for Repub Senators.

Two other Committees are charged with the investigation; Oversight and Judiciary.
My feeling is that Intel concluded its part of the Impeachment Investigation with Schiff's brilliant summation. I would not be surprised if Oversight BEGAN its PUBLIC testimony soon followed by the Judiciary INVESTIGATION and the Judiciary writing the Articles of Impeachment which will be forwarded to the House for a full vote.
The only things that are remarkable about the process is 1] the refusal of the Barr DoJ to do the preliminary investigation, 2] that Trump committed enough crimes to be impeached in his FIRST term with 3] a Republican Senate.

R208, I think, and hope you're on to something about CJ Roberts persuading his fellow Justices to rule that Bolton and others defying Congressional subpoenas must comply with them.
I'm operating on the premise that CJ Roberts, right now contemplating having to preside at a Senate trial, would prefer dying in a freak accident or a grease fire rather than do so.
A ruling that Bolton and the others defying subpoenas must comply with them, and doing so in Congress, before a committee, obviously would spare him from possibly having to rule on admitting his testimonial evidence during trial and all its attendant clusterfuck of arguments that he'd have to rule on. I write this with the knowledge that, of course, a lot will depend on McConnell's marching orders, but still.
I loathe the ideology of Roberts. I have no respect for him on a personal basis because I believe he's closeted and lacks the courage to come out.
BUT, I do believe that he truly believes, on principle, that respect and compliance with the decisions of the USSC depend on it being perceived as somewhat detached from politics. ( which, of course, it isn't but we all need our delusions). I agree with others who believe it was with that in mind that he ruled with the Obama Administration on Obamacare, much to the outrage of conservatives.
And I believe CJ Roberts loathes Trump and holds him in no regard. Roberts publicly rebuked him. In fact, I'm sure he'd love to recuse himself from presiding and cite fairness to Trump because of his bias against him.
I have no doubt Trump and his lawyers would have no hesitation in demanding that Roberts recuse himself if they thought it would be in Trump' interest, US Constitution be damned.

Isn't a typical random poll just 1000+ interviewees? I don't think it is that surprising that most will never get polled.
Btw, I get polled all the time. But not political polls, just random shit like what TV programmes I watch or if I still read newspapers or magazines. I usually decline, but my number is definitely on a list.

Della, over the years I've contemplated that pic at r227 as well, and come to the conclusion that the sexual orientation of the subjects depends on exactly one thing: What's on the plate?
1. If it is 2 steaks (and the presence of lobsters bolsters 'Surf and Turf' theme) it's merely a photo of yuppie, late 1980s, proto-metrosexual men exhibiting standard, culturally proscribed "look at me and my big meat" behavior. Photo probably taken by a wife or girlfriend ooh-ing and ahh-ing at their "hunting" prowess.
2. If it's two apple turnovers...you're right.

On MNBC this morning, Michael Steele said that nothing was going to happen to Trump, Giuliani et al. It would be business as usual after Trump is acquitted. He said it with a resignation that I'm seeing in other commentators as well. Also, polling is showing less enthusiasm for impeachment this week...how the fuck does that happen after all the compelling testimonies over the last two weeks. I just don't know what the fuck is going on anymore. That fat fucker in the WH is going to be more arrogant and dangerous after this.
Also, John Bolton went back on Twitter this morning with this shitty comment, "Glad to be back on Twitter after more than two months. For the backstory, stay tuned........" and is being roasted for being a coward, with a lot of people pleading for him to testify. Meanwhile "#BoycottBoltonsBook" is trending.

R241, there are no perfect answers in this imperfect world. Whether we get the exact outcome we want, or not, it is undeniable that Trump and the GOP are having a miserable time of this. And it will all be recorded in the history books.
That may be all we get out of it, except that this will stand as a deterrent to other people who follow Trump into office. It will also stand as an example to other federal workers who follow Marie Yavonovitch and Fiona Hill.

This is a good thing because I believe that is all what Bolton is doing is just holding out for money. It's the typical Republican thinking. But, if the public makes it well known that there will be no interest in this book, it is possible that Bolton will quickly change his mind. However, there are more than enough moneyed Republicans who would just but $100K worth of the books to give an image of interest--a la Donald Trump Jr's book.

Nope. I haven't been asleep. That's just people correcting those that tried to re-write history. But, you have only underscored my point. "This ambassador that everybody says was so wonderful, she wouldn't hang my picture in the embassy," Mr. Trump told "Fox and Friends" in an interview. "She wouldn't hang it."
The president said he had heard "bad things" about Yovanovitch, who was appointed by President Obama in 2016, and claimed she was disliked by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was elected in May.
"This was not an angel, this woman, OK?" Mr. Trump said. "There were a lot of things that she did that I didn't like."
Mr. Trump and Zelensky discussed Yovanovitch during the July 25 phone call that launched House Democrats' impeachment inquiry into the president. During the call, Mr. Trump called Yovanovitch "bad news."

Not if it's positioned as being political and partisan. If Republicans can build the story that Democrats targeted Trump simply because he was disliked (what Republicans did to Clinton) then it might roll off of Trump's back like it did for Clinton. In my opinion, Democrats simply don't know how to fight back against Republicans. NYT: Trump Attacks Impeachment Inquiry and Accuses a Witness of Lying
WASHINGTON — President Trump unleashed a series of falsehoods on Friday in an effort to invalidate the impeachment inquiry and counter sworn testimony from officials in his own administration, after a week of damaging public hearings.
In a 53-minute phone interview with “Fox & Friends,” Mr. Trump accused David Holmes, a political counselor to the top American diplomat in Ukraine, of fabricating a phone call between Mr. Trump and the ambassador to the European Union. Mr. Holmes told impeachment investigators that he had overheard the president asking the ambassador, Gordon D. Sondland, about Ukrainian investigations into his political rivals, a consequential detail in the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry.
“I guarantee you that never took place,” Mr. Trump said. He added that he barely knew Mr. Sondland, a wealthy hotelier from Oregon who contributed $1 million to Mr. Trump’s inaugural committee. In his own testimony under oath, Mr. Sondland corroborated Mr. Holmes’s account.
The interview on Friday, broadcast live and commercial-free with a view of the “Fox & Friends” hosts speaking by phone to Mr. Trump, gave the president a chance to respond to the damaging revelations of the past week and reprise widely debunked theories and some of his favorite lines of attack.
To start, Mr. Trump called Representative Adam B. Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence committee, a “sick puppy,” a “corrupt politician” and the first witness he would want to call in a Senate impeachment trial.
Will he be impeached? “I don’t expect it,” the president said. “I think it’s very hard for them to impeach you when they have absolutely nothing.” Some of Mr. Trump’s top aides and legal advisers, anticipating that the Democratic-led House will impeach Mr. Trump, met with Republican senators on Thursday to strategize over what a Senate trial would look like.
Mr. Trump also said he knows the identity of the anonymous whistle-blower whose complaint prompted the impeachment inquiry — and asserted that the details in the complaint were “fake.”
The July 25 phone call between Mr. Trump and Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, was “perfect.” He said, “Why should we give money to a country that’s known corrupt?”
Mr. Trump also said the Obama administration spied on his campaign, an accusation he leveled without evidence on Twitter in the early days of his administration. “They tried to overthrow the presidency. This is a disgrace.”
by Anonymous | reply 306 | November 22, 2019 9:01 PM |
[quote] “I guarantee you that never took place,” Mr. Trump said.
This should be easy enough to prove/disprove. Either the call occurred or it didn’t. There must be a record of the call having happened — at a minimum from Sonland’s cell phone records.
Also, there was someone else at the table when Sondland and Holmes had lunch. I though that person was also going to testify and corroborate Holmes’s account.
This is fucking exhausting.

At the link is a thread naming scores of prominent Republicans who are anti-Trump. The Dems in the House should consider adding a prominent Republican to the prosecution team. It will make a show of it being a non-partisan process. The only reason not to do so, might be that they will no doubt have more Dem House reps who want on the team, than they can accommodate.

Now that detail is extremely specific so when Holmes related it complete with quotes about the Kardashians, even Hellen Keller can see Trump is lying through his teefs.

I've wondered this too, and I think they script the questions, assign them is some order, and members can also add on based on what they hear from witnesses throughout the hearing. It's all about entering information into the record, so it seems they have to have some mechanism to ensure everything gets in there.
But yeah, Adam spoke from a place of deep frustration, borne of the fact that the GOP have absolutely no interest in protecting a corrupt system that they're up to their eyeballs in.

The call was on September 9.
[quote]The timeline is key. The call happened more than a week after then Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire informed the White House counsel about the existence of a whistleblower complaint detailing how Trump abused his power by trying to leverage the Ukrainians into doing political favors for him.
[quote]So, assuming word of the whistleblower’s complaint percolated up to the president, Trump’s call with Sondland came after he knew the jig was up. Indeed, that very same day, Michael Atkinson, inspector general for the intelligence community, notified the House Intelligence Committee of the whistleblower complaint and said he found that the accusations rose to the level of “urgent concern.”

More shoes to drop.
Exclusive: CEO of Ukraine State Gas Firm Preparing to Testify in Giuliani Probe
he CEO of Ukraine’s state gas company, Naftogaz, is ready to give evidence in a U.S. federal investigation that is reportedly probing the business dealings of Rudy Giuliani, the CEO said in an exclusive interview on Friday.
“I will with a high likelihood be invited to testify in this case,” Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolyev told TIME, citing his lawyers and contacts in the U.S. “If I am called, I would be willing to come and testify,” Kobolyev added.
Asked whether he is preparing to give prosecutors information about Giuliani or about Parnas and Fruman, the executive said, “Both. Everything is connected.”
Any testimony from Kobolyev would come on top of the statements that another Naftogaz executive, Andrew Favorov, gave investigators on Thursday in New York City.
Kobolyev interrupted his interview with TIME at his office in Kyiv Friday, saying he wanted to call his colleague Favorov on the phone to ask how his interview with federal investigators had gone, and whether Favorov would be going back on Friday to provide more testimony.
“He finished yesterday,” Kobolyev said after finishing the mid-interview phone call. “He said it was a very unusual experience,” the CEO added, referring to Favorov. “He said he has never gone through questioning like that. I also heard these guys are very, um, very hard, the southern district prosecutors. They’re some of the best in the states.”
Citing two unnamed sources familiar with the matter, CNN reported on Nov. 18 that federal prosecutors in New York had contacted people associated with Naftogaz as part of their investigation of Giuliani. Favorov’s U.S. lawyer confirmed to the Associated Press the following day that his client was planning to meet voluntarily with investigators. The timing of that meeting on Thursday, and the fact that prosecutors had not asked Favorov to come back on Friday, have not been previously reported.

I'm no Republican and wish they would all get voted out in 2020, every single one of them, but they are not going to pay for what Trump did. They play a better game than the Dems do - it's not about "my colleagues from across the aisle" or "the gentleman from Ohio" with the Republicans. It's "the Democrats this" and "the Democrats that". It's time for the Democrats to be as nasty and as mean. It's the only way to stand up to these treasonous losers who would get away with shooting someone on 5th Avenue, even if it is covered live by every single media outlet in the world.
And yes R381, it is insanity. The President of the United States committed a crime, he acknowledged it was a crime on national television, the intelligence community briefed US Senators on how Russia is behind the "Ukraine did it not us" propoganda and YET, they are STILL going forward with investigations and questions into Ukraine and Burisma and the Bidens. It's the upside/down. It makes no sense, and yet here we are, going down the rabbit hole chasing alternative facts.
So here's my prediction... the House will impeach Trump. The Senate will not indict him. Trump will win re-election in 2020. The Republicans will keep control of the Senate in 2020. The Dems will keep control of the House in 2020. Trump will spend the next four years doing whatever the hell he wants, basically raping the country for his own benefit, and there is not a damn thing the Democrats will be able to do to stop him. Oh, he'll also have a shot at replacing if not one then two Supreme Court justices, which is really the end goal for Moscow Mitch and Twitter Cow Nunes and Gym Prev Jordans.
Welcome to the new United States.

Have better healthcare? How are they benefiting from this asshole in the White House?
Or does it come down to one simple thing... they hated that a Black guy was in the White House, so they blame the Democrats and voted for a guy who is a narcissist racist lunatic, who is out for himself and couldn't care less about them, who would run them over if it benefited him.
What I find hypocritical (welcome to politics!) is that if the roles were reversed and Hilary was the one who did everything Trump did and continues to do, she would have been impeached on day 1.

Reality Winner got into prison for sharing that it was well known behind the scenes that the 2016 vote was hacked. You really think that they come forward right away in 2020? The officials and the media will do a lot of controlling the narrative of why Trump won fair and square. And the lazy masses will just go "Oh well, what can WE do anyway? ... What's new on Netflix (so I can distract myself by binge watching)?".
[quote] On June 3, 2017, while employed by the military contractor Pluribus International Corporation, Winner was arrested on suspicion of leaking an intelligence report about Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections to the news website The Intercept. The report suggested that Russian hackers had accessed at least one U.S. voting-software supplier.[7]
[quote] Concerns have been raised that The Intercept's sloppy handling of the material exposed her as the source and contributed to her arrest.[8] Twice denied bail, Winner was held at the Lincoln County Jail in Lincolnton, Georgia.[9][10] On August 23, 2018, Winner was sentenced to five years and three months in prison as part of a plea deal.[11]

3) "he's not like one of this hollywood stuck up out of touch elites!".. once again, oh really? someone who was in tv and b level movies, who once again hobnobbed with hollywood for decades and who was a reality tv show host isn't "hollywood"?..
4) "he's a christian and pro life!"... [quote]What I don't get is what his base gets out of supporting him...
Perceived tax cuts, conservative judges, and white supremacy
All of that is well and good for them until it directly affects them. Look at Kentucky as an example. Prior to ObamaCare. The State was a mess as far as healthcare was concerned. I believe it had the highest unnecessary death rate in the nation. Then Bashear got ObamaCare (KY-NECT) through. The people LOVED it! People were receiving healthcare that had never ever had it before. People like carpenters, bartenders, waitresses, etc. People were going to doctors who had never set foot in a doctor's office before!
BUT....
The hateful black guy did something good? That just did not make sense for many people--particularly the white folks. So, why did they do? They elected a white, male, Republican for Governor who went on a rampage to destroy the program. But, that wasn't enough. They overwhelmingly elected a white, male, Republican that "promised" healthcare but he too was on a mission to destroy this new healthcare that the people of Kentucky so enjoyed! It wasn't until that new doctor that they liked refused their appointments and health insurance premiums skyrocket to the point that it was no longer affordable did they wake up and say "Hmm..."
My point; Unless people are directly affected by something--and adversely by it, they will continue to live in some "garden of Eden" bubble.

The Deplorable base needs to be removed from Trump's and the GOP's influence (like, Fox News and Breitbart) and getting reacquainted - brainwash style - with their common sense skill. As long they have access to right wing propaganda they will not accept anything else to be true.

And the only difference between now and then is that we now deal with thin-skinned, hypersensitive snowflakes on the right who can't handle the truth, but think it's the left who are actually thin-skinned.

I say let's just admit it. The Republicans OWN the messaging game. Not only do they have FOX but they have a SLEW of internet whatevers that swamp the internet and other media with their message. I like to think that the Democrats (and others) are so busy working and trying to keep their heads above water that they literally have no time to put in the work to spread any type of message. But. for Republicans it's different. For them it's a mission. That's why I also say that they spend so much time and energy on the propaganda that it is the reason that they cannot govern. Republicans and their supporters never think about policy and implementation. They're all about the short term objective of achieving power.

The six committees charged with the task are the committees on Financial Services, the Judiciary, Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Reform, and Ways and Means.
We just concluded ONE of them, Intelligence. I would like to see the inquiry move to Foreign Affairs or Oversight next. It is like Candy Land, where everything ends up in Judiciary.
I hope Financial Services looks into the MONEY LAUNDERING.

My Uber driver tonight was an older African-American man. He was ranting about how Trump's done nothing criminal and impeachedment is democratic because it's overturning the "majority" of voters - because the popular vote numbers were false. He said if the Senate isn't going to convict, what's the point of wasting millions on the hearings.
My pulse was racing, I was so angry. However, I replied calmly. He was truly ranting.

Well, r390, they believe that---photos, videos, depositions, lawsuits, and lifestyle notwithstanding---Trump was not a pal of Jeffrey Epstein, even though Mar-a-Lago was a recruiting site for Ghislaine Maxwell.
Let's get real: Nobody becomes a billionaire without corruption, depravities, criminal threats/association/behaviors, indifference to human suffering, and other sundry anti-social acts.
Look at Facebook and Zuckerberg. Who suspected that the Russian Mob (AKA Putin's government) had Zuck in their debt, same as with Trump? That FB is essentially an anti-democracy Russian propaganda tool? Yet multitudes of Americans are addicted to it, and even armed with the truth cannot quit it, because they regard FB as a veritable lifeline to others.
Putin---through money and/or blackmail---owns many a wealthy man. The world is run by sociopaths and cowards. True "governing" is a myth.

No matter who's Mayor, or Governor, or President, people we never heard of, our neighbors, people with families, they show up. They are the only reason why our government is still functioning and serving us. Take a minute to appreciate them. And every time one of them stands up to defend our Constitution and uphold the rule of Law, is one more day our Democracy survives. It is wholly uncharacteristic for civil servants to be defiant or to leak information. That they would defy this administration and testify, or push back and contest a Presidential action by pardoning a murderer, or leak pictures of children in cages is remarkable. Be glad they are standing their post. Because without them we'd be staring into the abyss.

ABC News: House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes used funds from New PAC, his leadership political action committee, to purchase steak dinners, limo rides, and nearly $15,000 in Boston Celtics basketball games tickets, FEC filings show.
FEC filings show that New PAC spent a total of $14,638 at TD Garden, the home of the Boston Celtics, on three occasions between February and May 2017.
New PAC dropped an additional $3,593 at the 4-star Omni Parker House hotel on May 8, the same day that the fund purchased tickets for the Celtics' playoffs against the Washington Wizards.
2018 quarterly filings for New PAC show a number of more recent luxury expenditures. On March 9, bills at seven different restaurants in Las Vegas totaled over $7,000.
The expenditures do not appear to break any federal laws. (It is absolutely disgusting how politicians in this country game the system.)

Impeachment inquiry proved America can’t be saved from a cult called the GOP | Will Bunch
Updated: November 24, 2019 - 11:13 AM
For the last two weeks, Republican Texas Congressman Will Hurd sat with his colleagues on the House Intelligence Committee and listened to a stunning story of presidential abuse of power — told by the kind of folks who must have seemed like a mirror image of Hurd’s patriotic past life as a CIA agent.
Like once-obscure, now-star impeachment inquiry witnesses Marie Yovanovitch, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and Fiona Hill, Hurd emerged from middle-class origins as a top student who went into government service and developed a strong sense of duty, spending years as a U.S. undercover agent in Pakistan, growing a long beard and speaking the native Urdu. Elected to Congress in 2014, Hurd quickly developed a reputation as one of the most moderate Republicans on Capitol Hill, with a passion for bipartisan issues like cybersecurity. He even joined with mostly Democrats to condemn President Trump after the president called African nations “shithole countries.”
Now, as one of several dozen GOP House members deciding not to seek reelection in 2020, which some see as a rebuke to Trump, Hurd was viewed by Democrats as a leading indicator on whether any Republicans will support impeaching the 45th president, which in turn might predict whether there was even a remote chance of getting the 20 GOP Senate votes needed for removal. But after hearing the testimony, Hurd wasn’t having it.
The ex-CIA man said during Thursday’s session he was dismayed by what he called “bungling” in American foreign policy, but he quickly added he wasn’t seeing withholding congressionally approved security aid or a White House visit to pressure the Ukrainian president for dirt on a 2020 campaign rival as a high crime, let alone a misdemeanor. “An impeachable offense should be compelling, overwhelming, clear and unambiguous,” Hurd said. “And it’s not something to be rushed or taken lightly. I’ve not heard evidence proving the president committed bribery or extortion.”
No surprise.
Trump was absolutely right.
If he were to shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue, there would be no consequences.
Because those in the Trump political party would fall all over themselves to defend him and explain it away.
Hurd’s comments were not a fluke. His fellow GOP moderate on the panel, Rep. Elise Stefanik of upstate New York, is now apparently a former moderate after aggressive pro-Trump questioning. Her extreme makeover led to a sharp rebuke from a home-district paper that had once endorsed her but now ripped her as “becoming more partisan, more disingenuous and irrational.”
On Friday, a Philadelphia-area Republican — Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Bucks County — with a reputation for breaking from Trump on occasion told reporters he saw no reason to vote for impeachment, even for a president who routinely attacks the FBI, where Fitzpatrick once worked. “There’s no reason we can’t refer this to law enforcement,” he insisted.

Have we learned nothing over the past five years? Donald tRump loudly proclaims his version of reality — which often bears only a faint and distant resemblance to the truth. His sycophants then loudly and often repeat some version of what he has said. The chattering class pick up the falsehood and carry it forward until — bizarrely — it becomes an accepted version of what occurred.
We cannot let that happen here. He is as guilty as sin of having co-opted our national security interests to further his own political agenda, tried to cover up his crime, and obstructed the Congressional inquiry.

Where are the protests? Will Hurd's own mother should have slapped him in the face, etc.... But, where were we? This particular thread was awful quiet as Republicans went on a strong offense and it seems that they had some type of positive result.

Whoever is the show runner for "Impeachment, the Hearings," must come up with a new show every week with more jaw-dropping discoveries to keep their attention focused on the series. If not, it'll be canceled because of declining ratings and put into reruns. There's a lot of competition out there from Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV and now Disney. Macron of France just snubbed Trump at 10 Downing Street. He walked right by Trump. Did not shake his hand. He then proceeded to shake Melena’s hand. He did smile, at least.
Of course, Trump did just insult him, earlier today.

Trump exudes a binary toxicity: it either destroys you or repels you.

R484 Do you have a link?

Here’s the video of Macron snubbing Trump . Do you agree? The TV people didn’t mention it. The audio is irrelevant.
20 second video. .

Damn, he walks right by Trump! Right after shaking someone else’s hand!
by Anonymous | reply 488 | December 3, 2019 7:06 PM |
Throw that shade, Macron!
Damn.
by Anonymous | reply 489 | December 3, 2019 7:38 PM |
Didn’t they say last time somebody did that, that it was customary to shake the wife’s hand and not the husband’s? Or did they just make that up to excuse the last time somebody did it?
I wouldn’t put it past Trump to have no idea what the protocol was.

Macron was in a hurry to join Trudeau in the bedroom:

wouldn't you love to see someone kick candy ass lump's ass, literally kick him in the ass...
how reporters and journalists have kept themselves for over 3 1/2 years from literally stating right to his face "that's a lie!", "your a liar!", "your lying!" is beyond me..
by Anonymous | reply 493 | December 3, 2019 11:40 PM |
That was a classic Cold Shoulder.

Rudy Giuliani and one of his indicted Ukrainian associates exchanged a flurry of phone calls with Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the top Republican on Congress’ impeachment investigation panel, amid a Giuliani-led effort to dig up dirt on President Donald Trump’s political opponents in Ukraine.
The House Intelligence Committee obtained phone records from AT&T showing extensive communications in early April involving Nunes, Giuliani, Lev Parnas, and The Hill columnist John Solomon. The House report describes these individuals as part of a "smear campaign" coordinated with "one or more individuals at the White House."

Media needs to get off their asses about Nunes. He went to Vegas a lot. Flashing money around. Who went with him? What does he do in Vegas with his New PAC money. He seems like a slimy pervert. There has to be some dirt out there on him.

Interesting, R498. When Parnas was arrested he had, in addition to five cell phones and a lot of cash, a number of "frequent flyer"-type rewards cards from various casinos. There's some gambling aspect to this story.

Nunes and Ghouliani are going down. I can't wait until his silly lawsuits get thrown out. He must be spending a lot of his PAC money on lawyers fees.

Did you see Liz Chaney say that the Dems have not allowed Trump the opportunity to defend himself? Didn't they give him EVERY opportunity and when that time was up, he turned down the opportunity --despite his constant bitching that he's being treated unfairly?
Why doesn't Schiff acknowledge that shit? Why doesn't he call Nunes out by his name? I mean...am I looking at this naively? would that be the wrong approach? It seems like we're trying to keep some kind of moral high ground and it's driving me APE SHIT.
BTW Clinton is now on the Howard Stern show!

you invite me to show up and ALL OF MY PEOPLE that i'm ordering NOT to show up because it's all a hoax and a sham, and i'll be treated wrong, but i don't know until i show up, but i'm not going to show up and i'm not going to show and prove my case and how everyone is wrong and i'm and my people are telling the truth and we never did anything wrong!
IS THAT HOW THE WARPED MINDSET WORKS folks?.. and since when can ANYONE even the president ORDER anyone to NOT testify? since when is this a monarchy? since when does ANYONE even the president have more power then the law and judicial system and if one WANTS to testify they can if they want!

Hillary just inferred that a Pandora's Box has been opened and it 's gonna be impossible to put ALL of the shit back in it.
I mean...will this be the status quo now. Every Republican candidate is gonna be a goddamn used car salesman? We're fucked, right?

R506 ... win win at all costs... NO MATTER WHAT!...i repeat LITERALLY NO MATTER WHAT!... indeed will this be the norm??
so much for the u.s. to be above it all and not like those "other" countries.

How come we don't have any howling monkeys like the repubs do? Their howling monkeys have been screaming about getting Schiff on the stand for weeks. Why don't we have our own howlers screaming into every news microphone that Devin Nunes needs to testify in front of the committee???
by Anonymous | reply 508 | December 4, 2019 1:16 PM |
JUST THINK ABOUT THIS TRUTH: nunes was the head lead for the repubs side in the recent impeachment inquiry and WITH ALL of these rumors, allegations and truths HE HIMSELF didn't think he needed to recuse himself from all of this! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOW THAT is one "EFFED" up at the very very least morally and ethically bankrupt and corrupt individual! simply for this truth!. a sane human could not even FATHOM this kind of person!

Because... Democrats know better. Democrats play by the rules. (eyes rolling uncontrollably)
Nunes should be having the BOOK thrown at him this morning. He should be walking in fear that he will be arrested.
by Anonymous | reply 510 | December 4, 2019 1:24 PM |
Agree R510. Seems like the Democrats keep it all close to vest , gathering up all the evidence ,before they lower the boom. Devin Nunes must be feeling like the trapped rat that he is.

WTF is Matt Gaetz sitting at the table? IS he a member of the Judiciary? I wish I had more confidence in Nadler. I hope this doesn't turn into a shit show.
R499 & R500 are onto something. Money Laundering,. Gambling. In any event if we could get some information photos, etc. from Nunes' Las Vegas trips I think that would impact public opinion. Hanging out in Vegas makes him look sleazy. I watch his eyes and his body language and I'm convinced he either has child porn on his computers or he's some other kind of pervert. Does he have kids? A wife? Media needs to get on the fucking bus. Nunes has EARNED scrutiny. WTF.

Why isn't there a new thread about the first day of the new hearings?
by Anonymous | reply 514 | December 4, 2019 2:24 PM |
WTF. I love this Lady Law professor Pamela Karlan, reprimanding Collins. He's such a horrific asshole. Not Nunes, but worse than Gaetz in his own way.
She has passion and she is clear. She conveys the urgency the situation demands.
