Impeachment Hearings: Day 5 - pt 1

Today we hear from a Fiona Hill, British-born American foreign affairs specialist for Soviet, Russia, and European affairs at the NSC. Also testifying is David Holmes, a high-ranking staffer at the US Embassy in Ukraine.

Let's watch what happens live.

David Holmes looks a cleaned up version of Jeffrey Dahmer.

msnbc contributor historian meacham is on saying "is this what the republicans want to be remembered for"...

newsflash: they don't care, because they are COUNTING on the american public not remembering any of this in a year! much less the rest of their history! even if they run for office again i might add.

counting on american apathy, ignorance, lazy, too busy, carrying about their own lives and so on to remember how so and so republican stood up for, stood with and lied for trump...

by Anonymousreply 2November 21, 2019 1:03 PM

We've got this. Let's go!

CNN says Fiona Hill as warned the GOP not to use the hearing to promote false Russian conspiracy narratives. She's expected to address that directly. Good for her.

by Anonymousreply 4November 21, 2019 1:06 PM

R1, Yes! I was just going to post the same observation.

by Anonymousreply 5November 21, 2019 1:07 PM

Ukrainian conspiracies, not Russian.

by Anonymousreply 6November 21, 2019 1:08 PM

From Fiona Hill's opening statement:

“Based on questions and statements I have heard, some of you on this committee appear to believe that Russia and its security services did not conduct a campaign against our country—and that perhaps, somehow, for some reason, Ukraine did. This is a fictional narrative that has been perpetrated and propagated by the Russian security services themselves.”

by Anonymousreply 7November 21, 2019 1:08 PM

oh boy I think this is going to be a good one

by Anonymousreply 8November 21, 2019 1:14 PM

R1 and r5, I was thinking that Holmes looked more like the actor Joel Kinnaman.

by Anonymousreply 9November 21, 2019 1:14 PM

Schiff is giving an opening statement. Rehashing the chain of events that brought us here.

NBC News--- JUST IN: Fiona Hill expected to tell Congress that partisan politics drove a "fictional" narrative on Ukraine

Nunes will go ballistic when a renowned expert on Russia disputes the GOP and POTUS' conspiracy theories and false distractions to his face.

by Anonymousreply 10November 21, 2019 1:15 PM

This should be good!

by Anonymousreply 11November 21, 2019 1:16 PM

I want to see Hill go off on Nunes

by Anonymousreply 12November 21, 2019 1:17 PM

She (and we) must be crystal clear in defining Russian-driven/based conspiracy theories and their motives, targets and effects.

Confusion lies in the distinction between Russian conspiracy theories and Ukrainian conspiracy theories. (And, I might add, Republican lies.)

by Anonymousreply 13November 21, 2019 1:20 PM

R6 meaning the Russian-promoted conspiracy theory that Ukraine is engineering election interference, Burisma/Biden investigations and DNC server nonsense.

POTUS, GOP, and Russia are spewing the same falsehoods for a mutually beneficial electoral outcome.

by Anonymousreply 14November 21, 2019 1:20 PM

In other words, Hill is going to say that Trump, Nunes, et al. got totally played by the Russians. Yes!

by Anonymousreply 15November 21, 2019 1:21 PM

Nunes continuing his lies again

by Anonymousreply 16November 21, 2019 1:21 PM

Shouldn't these two people have testified before Sondland?

by Anonymousreply 17November 21, 2019 1:22 PM

Nunes talking about credibility? lmao

He's saying "it's not Trump who got caught-it's the Democrats!"

he's rambling they got caught making up lies about Trump. OMFG he's damn pathetic

by Anonymousreply 18November 21, 2019 1:23 PM

R17 no one knew which way Sondland would go until his opening statement was handed out. Too risky to go last

by Anonymousreply 19November 21, 2019 1:24 PM

Nude photos!

by Anonymousreply 20November 21, 2019 1:24 PM

More nude photos!

More Chalupa!

by Anonymousreply 21November 21, 2019 1:24 PM

Nunes is back on the nude tRump photos. Ughhhhhh.

by Anonymousreply 22November 21, 2019 1:24 PM

Chalupa! Bingo!

by Anonymousreply 23November 21, 2019 1:24 PM

Nunes talking about the Democrats getting caught is a classic case of projection.

by Anonymousreply 24November 21, 2019 1:25 PM

this is infuriating

he's talking about "long lasting damage" Democrats have caused

why is this allowed? Why is he allowed to lie in a hearing?

by Anonymousreply 25November 21, 2019 1:26 PM

The wounds to the country and our democracy come from the Rethugs.

by Anonymousreply 26November 21, 2019 1:26 PM

Drop the Chalupa!

by Anonymousreply 27November 21, 2019 1:26 PM

I know it would quickly devolve into chaos, but I really wish it was possible to sue congresspeople for slanders they utter in the course of their jobs.

by Anonymousreply 28November 21, 2019 1:26 PM

How can Nunes swallow his pride and say these things that he knows are lies. I honestly do not understand a person like that. Seriously, how does he sleep at night?

by Anonymousreply 29November 21, 2019 1:26 PM

Nunes caught working with Lev Parnas

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 30November 21, 2019 1:28 PM

Nunes has a secret deal with Taco Bell. $1000 every time he utters "Chalupa."

by Anonymousreply 31November 21, 2019 1:28 PM

These two poor witnesses were just approached by Nunes' fat fuck.

by Anonymousreply 32November 21, 2019 1:29 PM

I'm with you, R29. The alternate reality pushed by the rePubs is both nauseating and dangerous to our country.

by Anonymousreply 33November 21, 2019 1:29 PM

Yet Nunes is launching lawsuits against a cartoon cow over a parody account on Twitter (Devin Nunes' Cow). It's political fucking satire. The unmitigated gall of that mess.

by Anonymousreply 34November 21, 2019 1:29 PM

How original Nunes's opening. Clearly he got his "inspiration" from Adam Schiff's powerful and impacting closing of yesterday.

And, what nude photos is he talking about?

This?

Hill looks like she is going to rip Nunes and other questioners a new.

Holmes has a sharp face that also smells many cookies.

by Anonymousreply 36November 21, 2019 1:30 PM

It's like they're all Satanists. I don't get it. How can they sell out this country and lie to this country and then do such theater.

by Anonymousreply 37November 21, 2019 1:31 PM

Tax cuts and Judges.

by Anonymousreply 40November 21, 2019 1:32 PM

[quote]Schiff is giving an opening statement. Rehashing the chain of events that brought us here.

It's a good tactic that he repeats the facts (with some variations relative to the specific witnesses) at the top of the hearings. Drill it into the heads of the public.

by Anonymousreply 41November 21, 2019 1:33 PM

I hope that Dr. Hill destroys Nunes, Ratcliffe, Conaway, Jordan, and Stefanik to absolutely nothing. I want her to be like an E5 tornado that kills nearly everyone. GOP deserves to be in a tornado anyhow.

by Anonymousreply 42November 21, 2019 1:34 PM

R38 Nunes was part of the Trump transition team and has some type of relationship with Flynn

I'm shocked Nunes hasn't been arrested

by Anonymousreply 43November 21, 2019 1:35 PM

TRump is fuming that Sondland testified tRump talks loud and everyone can hear his phone calls. He's been stewing for 24 hrs. He just tweeted this gobbledygook------

DJT: "I have been watching people making phone calls my entire life. My hearing is, and has been, great. Never have I been watching a person making a call, which was not on speakerphone, and been able to hear or understand a conversation. I’ve even tried, but to no avail. Try it live!"

by Anonymousreply 44November 21, 2019 1:35 PM

[quote] [R17] no one knew which way Sondland would go until his opening statement was handed out. Too risky to go last

These two people are going to testifying primarily about what Sondland had said or done, having them testify before Sondland would further box him to tell the truth and since Sondland has so much difficulty remembering what he has said and done, these two would refresh his memory.

by Anonymousreply 45November 21, 2019 1:35 PM

Joel Kinnaman as Holmes in the Impeachment movie.

Felicity Huffman in an image rehabilitating role as Fiona Hill.

by Anonymousreply 46November 21, 2019 1:36 PM

I can always hear someone cell phone conversation, especially in restaurants. The volume IS that loud on both ends!

by Anonymousreply 48November 21, 2019 1:40 PM

[quote]Never have I been watching a person making a call, which was not on speakerphone, and been able to hear or understand a conversation.

Too bad for Cheeto that Sondland confirmed VERY specific details about the call that Holmes described, like the rapper detained in Sweden. Holmes didn't imagine or invent that, did he.

by Anonymousreply 49November 21, 2019 1:40 PM

ooh dropping Giuliani's name again

let's hope Rudy gets indicted in the next month

by Anonymousreply 50November 21, 2019 1:40 PM

r44 When I get calls I hold my phone a foot or so from my face. It's not on speakerphone and I can hear everything just as if it was. I can only imagine how loud it is when President blowhard is on the other end of the call.

by Anonymousreply 51November 21, 2019 1:40 PM

Holmes is doing a great job of providing important context, supporting Yovanovitch, and further throwing Giuliani under the bus.

by Anonymousreply 52November 21, 2019 1:43 PM

R44, R51, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I can hold my iPhone away from my face and still hear what the person is saying. Never have I not been able to do so, so Cheetos Puff is lying as usual. I can't wait for the CNN special where they destroy all his lies on TV.

Anyways, Holmes is dropping names...when you drop names like the former people, that makes their testimony boxed in for almost good. Sondland got back on the plane to Brussels because he knows he didn't tell everything and knew that today would potentially make him look bad.

by Anonymousreply 53November 21, 2019 1:43 PM

Yes! Throw Perry under the bus, too!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 54November 21, 2019 1:44 PM

The chain gang should be reinstituted for errant public servants. Imagine driving through some backwoods town and coming across the sight of Devin Nunes scraping up road kill.

by Anonymousreply 55November 21, 2019 1:45 PM

JAY LENO THAT FUCKER

by Anonymousreply 57November 21, 2019 1:47 PM

Good on Holmes busting out the 'colorful language' quotes by Sondland - yesterday Sondland admitted that's how he talks.

by Anonymousreply 58November 21, 2019 1:47 PM

Great comprehensive opening statement so far...and in such contrast to the delusional, juvenile opening statement made by Nunes.

by Anonymousreply 59November 21, 2019 1:47 PM

is Jay Leno a repub?

by Anonymousreply 60November 21, 2019 1:47 PM

I always hated Jay Leno. He was never, ever funny.

by Anonymousreply 61November 21, 2019 1:48 PM

I love how Holmes keeps on using the term "Three Amigos," just to punctuate how fucking ridiculous that diplomatic channel was.

by Anonymousreply 62November 21, 2019 1:49 PM

Zelinsky is a comedian...he probably asked to meet Leno in Brussels....like celebrities attending State Dinners at the White House.

by Anonymousreply 63November 21, 2019 1:49 PM

What did he say about Jay Leno??

by Anonymousreply 64November 21, 2019 1:50 PM

Holmes is not going to separate Burisma and Biden. Good.

by Anonymousreply 65November 21, 2019 1:50 PM

DAMN! He said that a GOP rep was there too! Now Stefanik can't accuse him of lying without lying herself. Maybe he did that so she would have to resign like Katie Hill did (which was so sad to me).

by Anonymousreply 66November 21, 2019 1:50 PM

R63, he picked the wrong comedian then, haha...Jay Leno ain't that funny because if he was, he'd still be on The Tonight Show or have his own show like Conan does.

by Anonymousreply 67November 21, 2019 1:51 PM

R66 Stefanik will spin it to say how helpful and supportive the Trump admin is of Ukraine

by Anonymousreply 68November 21, 2019 1:51 PM

Leno is supposedly a "hero" to Z. Speaks volumes about Z.

by Anonymousreply 69November 21, 2019 1:51 PM

I don't see how any Eastern European would find Jay Leno funny or understand his attempts at humor. I thought they were very dry, not Bozo the Clown types.

by Anonymousreply 70November 21, 2019 1:52 PM

R64

"Ambassador Sondland hosted a dinner in President Zelenskyy’s honor... Jared Kushner, Secretary Pompeo’s counselor Ulrich Brechbuhl, senior European Union officials, and comedian Jay Leno, among others."

by Anonymousreply 71November 21, 2019 1:53 PM

Zelensky is a huge fan of Leno and even called him a hero. IIRC Leno is a Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 72November 21, 2019 1:54 PM

Imagine heading to the public restroom at a national park and seeing Jay Leno cleaning the toilets with a toothbrush, per R55's chain gang.

by Anonymousreply 73November 21, 2019 1:55 PM

CBS NEWS

"The barrage of allegations directed at ambassador Yovanovitch, a career ambassador, is unlike anything I’ve seen in my professional career," said Holmes on ousted ambassador Marie Yovanovitch.

by Anonymousreply 74November 21, 2019 1:56 PM

R68, she'd better not with him. He [Holmes] looks like he would give you an answer that cuts you like a bitch. Hell, he's cursing a little, so I don't see why he won't use his charm, wit, and sassiness - he looks like that kind of guy.

Holmes is dropping bombs, y'all...I know the pundits are going nuts right now!

by Anonymousreply 75November 21, 2019 1:56 PM

so Trump is often grumpy in the morning? lmao

by Anonymousreply 76November 21, 2019 1:57 PM

Holmes is spilling ALL the tea. That ASAP Rocky shit was unbelievable!

by Anonymousreply 77November 21, 2019 1:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 78November 21, 2019 1:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 79November 21, 2019 1:59 PM

ABC NEWS

David Holmes: In March 2019, "our support for Ukrainian democratic resistance to Russian aggression became overshadowed by a political agenda promoted by...Rudy Giuliani and a cadre of officials operating with a direct channel to the White House.

by Anonymousreply 81November 21, 2019 1:59 PM

not surprised Sondland said "Asap Rocky should play the race card" regarding his arrest in Sweden

Sondland seems like he'd be a racist but one who doesn't think he is a racist

by Anonymousreply 82November 21, 2019 2:01 PM

Just tuned in - so is Holmes on first, then Hill?

by Anonymousreply 83November 21, 2019 2:03 PM

Who cares what Holmes looks like? Listen to what he is saying.

by Anonymousreply 84November 21, 2019 2:03 PM

Holmes seems like family to me - has this been discussed? We'll wait for Mahoney's questioning and watch him blush.

by Anonymousreply 85November 21, 2019 2:04 PM

MANU RAJU, CNN

Holmes does not back away from his past testimony - and says clearly that Sondland told him that - after his July call with Trump - that the president only cares about the “Biden investigation.” This contradicts Sondland testimony that he didn’t say “Biden”. <===

by Anonymousreply 86November 21, 2019 2:04 PM

Hill is sitting right next to Holmes r83; she goes next.

by Anonymousreply 87November 21, 2019 2:04 PM

I really thought Holmes would only testify about the call, but he's already talking for 30min now. Haha.

by Anonymousreply 88November 21, 2019 2:04 PM

Holmes is a great witness; so far.

by Anonymousreply 89November 21, 2019 2:05 PM

[quote]Who cares what Holmes looks like? Listen to what he is saying.

Hon, some of us can do both.

by Anonymousreply 90November 21, 2019 2:06 PM

In other news...

Holmes' haircut is flawless.

by Anonymousreply 91November 21, 2019 2:06 PM

r85, could be. He's not wearing a wedding ring, but again, that doesn't necessarily prove anything.

by Anonymousreply 92November 21, 2019 2:07 PM

His jacket is nice; I like the texture.

by Anonymousreply 93November 21, 2019 2:08 PM

Once again MAJOR KUDOS to the whistle blower!

Imagine the damage that would have happened if Zelensky had actually gone forward the CNN interview announcing an investigation into Biden

it would have severely damaged our bipartisan support of Ukraine and destroyed Biden's campaign

by Anonymousreply 94November 21, 2019 2:08 PM

He has done a fantastic job. Very clear, very knowledgeable, and very pissed off about tRump’s indifference to his real job.

by Anonymousreply 95November 21, 2019 2:08 PM

r76, especially lately. lol

by Anonymousreply 96November 21, 2019 2:08 PM

He's wrapping up with an appeal for solidarity with the Ukrainian people. I'm struck how dedicated the career professionals are towards Ukraine.

Dr. Hill is up!

by Anonymousreply 97November 21, 2019 2:09 PM

Fox "News" will attack Fiona Hill for being British

by Anonymousreply 98November 21, 2019 2:10 PM

Ok, what's with the dialect?

by Anonymousreply 99November 21, 2019 2:10 PM

R97 that just shows that he has an Agenda! He's not a credible witness! Hillary obviously threatened him!

by Anonymousreply 100November 21, 2019 2:10 PM

Fiona HIll is British; I like her accent.

by Anonymousreply 101November 21, 2019 2:10 PM

Ruth Wilson as Fiona Hill

by Anonymousreply 102November 21, 2019 2:11 PM

My mistake; she's a naturalized citizen now.

by Anonymousreply 103November 21, 2019 2:11 PM

Right wingers are going to be: why should we listen to this FOREIGNER?!

by Anonymousreply 104November 21, 2019 2:12 PM

Ruth Wilson as Fiona Hill

by Anonymousreply 105November 21, 2019 2:12 PM

Is Dr. Hill British? What country does that accent come from? And before you start thinking crazy - I like it, haha. I just wanna know where it's from.

by Anonymousreply 106November 21, 2019 2:12 PM

If she was going to do the dialect, couldn't they have sent Michelle Dockery in her place?

by Anonymousreply 107November 21, 2019 2:12 PM

r94, re

"Imagine the damage that would have happened if Zelensky had actually gone forward the CNN interview announcing an investigation into Biden"

IMO, that's what happened in 2016 when Comey announced, just a few weeks before the election, that the FBI was re-opening investigations of Clinton emails. Same playbook.

by Anonymousreply 108November 21, 2019 2:13 PM

They went to the same school! This is obviously a setup! They've been planning this for years!

by Anonymousreply 109November 21, 2019 2:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 110November 21, 2019 2:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 111November 21, 2019 2:14 PM

r106, as Dr. HIll has already explained, she grew up in England.

by Anonymousreply 112November 21, 2019 2:14 PM

Even a 'working class' British accent sounds classier than the most posh American.

by Anonymousreply 113November 21, 2019 2:14 PM

I can just imagine ignorant Laura Ingraham making fun of Hill being British

by Anonymousreply 114November 21, 2019 2:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 116November 21, 2019 2:15 PM

by Anonymousreply 117November 21, 2019 2:15 PM

I'm sure R109 was being snarky.

by Anonymousreply 118November 21, 2019 2:16 PM

Do we have any further doubt who Trump fears facing the most in the general election next year?

by Anonymousreply 119November 21, 2019 2:16 PM

She sounds like someone who came from the North and worked hard to sound more posh.

by Anonymousreply 120November 21, 2019 2:16 PM

It's nice the way she's acknowledged Holmes twice now. It puts them both on equal footing.

by Anonymousreply 121November 21, 2019 2:16 PM

by Anonymousreply 122November 21, 2019 2:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 123November 21, 2019 2:17 PM

R115 = Hillary driving an 18-Wheeler!!!!

by Anonymousreply 124November 21, 2019 2:18 PM

damn I wish the camera could have shown Nunes' face

by Anonymousreply 125November 21, 2019 2:18 PM

The testimony of knowledgeable, dedicated, patriotic people like Holmes, Hill, Yovanovitch, Vindman, etc. just makes it all the more sad what an utter, disastrous fuckup Trump and his cohorts are. And may all his enablers -- Nunes, Gym Jordan, McConnell, et al. -- go straight to fucking hell.

by Anonymousreply 126November 21, 2019 2:18 PM

So if Nunes had balls she just kicked him in them.

by Anonymousreply 127November 21, 2019 2:18 PM

Probably one of the few times those words have ever been uttered, R125.

by Anonymousreply 128November 21, 2019 2:18 PM

Funny I hear the same accent in Fiona Hill as I do in the Queen.

by Anonymousreply 146November 21, 2019 2:26 PM

No, R146.

by Anonymousreply 147November 21, 2019 2:27 PM

Homes and Hill are legit! Nunes is going to look like a fool going up against them, especially Hill

by Anonymousreply 148November 21, 2019 2:28 PM

Sondland and Trump chatting about that rapper: “just play the racism card then give him a tickertape parade when he’s released.”

Gross.

by Anonymousreply 149November 21, 2019 2:28 PM

Set your timepieces: "Ranking Member Nunes it's 'Doctor' Hill, please."

by Anonymousreply 150November 21, 2019 2:29 PM

by Anonymousreply 151November 21, 2019 2:31 PM

CBS NEWS

Holmes says Gordon Sondland recommended President Trump to not interfere and to let A$AP Rocky, who was then jailed in Sweden, "be sentenced, play the racism card, give him a ticker tape when he comes home."

~~Bribery, Extortion, Quid Pro Quo, with a generous dose of racism.~~

by Anonymousreply 152November 21, 2019 2:31 PM

I think a holiday in a warm, sunny clim and some highlights would suit Mr. Holmes *very* well.

by Anonymousreply 153November 21, 2019 2:32 PM

R135, on NPR earlier this week, they ran a report that pretty much stated that Sondland was way out of his depth in the local politics of Portland, Oregon. This was in Portland fucking Oregon. And here he was, thinking he could be a diplomatic player and deal with pros in the Ukraine and Russia. LMFAO!

by Anonymousreply 154November 21, 2019 2:33 PM

WINCED AND HELD THE PHONE AWAY FROM HIS EAR!!!!! OOOOOOH NNNNNNNOOOO!

LOL

by Anonymousreply 155November 21, 2019 2:33 PM

Holmes takes notes... lol. Sondland hates notes!

by Anonymousreply 156November 21, 2019 2:34 PM

Holmes is like someone delivering the goss!

by Anonymousreply 157November 21, 2019 2:34 PM

[Quote]Homes and Hill are legit! Nunes is going to look like a fool going up against them, especially Hill

He will undoubtedly bring up Hunter Biden and ask if it was inappropriate for Burisma to pay him $50k and some other bullshit like did YOU hear Trump say quid pro quo. He'll have to agree or say no and boom, Fox and the the Repubs have their sound bites again. The rest is irrelevant.

by Anonymousreply 158November 21, 2019 2:36 PM

Fox News is going to have a field day with Holmes tonight! They're probably trawling every bath house in D.C. trying to find someone who's had him! There's no way they're not going to tear him apart and implicate homosexuality - look what they did to Vindman! It's on.

by Anonymousreply 159November 21, 2019 2:36 PM

It's very adorable how Holmes holds his hand up to his ear to mimic a phone when he's talking about Sondland calling Trump.

by Anonymousreply 160November 21, 2019 2:37 PM

R154 - don't forget the E.U., which was actually his brief. During Brexit!

by Anonymousreply 161November 21, 2019 2:37 PM

Sound bite troll is tiresome. Why so cynical?

by Anonymousreply 162November 21, 2019 2:37 PM

Holmes testifies to Goldman he heard tRump ask for the investigation on the infamous restaurant cell call. He says Sondland told him tRump doesn't give a shit about Ukraine. Only cares about "big stuff" like the Biden investigation. He says this was a pretty shocking and highly unusual experience.

by Anonymousreply 163November 21, 2019 2:37 PM

The sound bite poster is concerned, very concerned, R162.

by Anonymousreply 164November 21, 2019 2:39 PM

This attorney keeps getting names wrong. Like Sondland saying “he’ll do anything Zelinsky wants him to do” referring to Zelinsky doing anything TRUMP wants him to do. He was corrected on one of these but not this one.

by Anonymousreply 165November 21, 2019 2:40 PM

Fiona Hill was hired by Michael Flynn and K. T. McFarland ( who is now a regular on Fox News) she is not going to be as pro Democrat talking points as we might suspect.

by Anonymousreply 166November 21, 2019 2:41 PM

The sound bite poster literally posts the same shit every day about how Fox is going to spin everything and now they've got their soundbite.

And yes r164, they sound very, very concerned.

by Anonymousreply 167November 21, 2019 2:42 PM

the "journalist" Holmes referred to (the one who helped Lutsenko spread lies about Yovanovitch) is none other than Jon Solomon, a new Fox "News" favorite in the prime time hours

by Anonymousreply 168November 21, 2019 2:43 PM

It seems clear that Rudy is a Russian asset, a “useful fool.”

by Anonymousreply 169November 21, 2019 2:43 PM

Latest from MANU @CNN

Not a perfect call, Fiona Hill says, confirming she was “shocked” and “disappointed” to read transcript of July 25 call. ... She also says based on what was happening: “It became clear that the WH meeting had become predicated on “other issues ... including investigations.”

by Anonymousreply 170November 21, 2019 2:44 PM

“BESMIRCH!”

by Anonymousreply 171November 21, 2019 2:44 PM

R166, Fiona Hill just has to be pro truth.

by Anonymousreply 172November 21, 2019 2:44 PM

So Dr. Hill is a Kiwi (I don't mean that as a slur - I just don't know how you say someone is from New Zealand)?

These two are dropping tea like it's the Boston Tea Party...DAMN!

by Anonymousreply 173November 21, 2019 2:46 PM

how ironic that Flynn who hired Hill ended up becoming a Russian asset himself

and McFarland not getting indicted was 1 of Mueller's worst moves

by Anonymousreply 174November 21, 2019 2:47 PM

Dr. Hill said her accent is “very working class” and that would have prevented her from attaining the high level position she held if she had stayed in England. They’re still so classist there.

by Anonymousreply 175November 21, 2019 2:47 PM

r173, she's from Northern England.

by Anonymousreply 176November 21, 2019 2:47 PM

Did someone already ask Hill why she was concerned about Vindman's judgement and accused him of leaking?

by Anonymousreply 177November 21, 2019 2:48 PM

R173 She’s from northern England and her accent is looked down at by the British, it’s considered “low class” there.

by Anonymousreply 178November 21, 2019 2:48 PM

R177 not there yet

by Anonymousreply 181November 21, 2019 2:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 182November 21, 2019 2:50 PM

R169, if Giuliani is a "useful fool," then Sondland is at least one level lower than that, maybe the useful fool's useful fool?

by Anonymousreply 183November 21, 2019 2:50 PM

R178 R173 I always think of the analogy the way a strong southern accent is thought of by the Coastals.

Molly Jong-Fast @MollyJongFast: Fiona Hill is explaining to Devin Nunes that he’s a moron.

Zac Petkanas @Zac_Petkanas: MUST WATCH: Fiona Hill SLAMS @DevinNunes and Republicans trafficking in the same wacky conspiracy theories being pushed by Russian intelligence to undermine the United States.

Cameron Joseph @cam_joseph: Like clockwork, @DevinNunes exits the hearing room as Dem counsel begins his questioning. (Just missed photo of him walking out the door)

shauna @goldengateblond: nothing in this universe is stronger than the self-control Adam Schiff exhibits whenever Devin Nunes speaks

by Anonymousreply 194November 21, 2019 2:56 PM

Lutsenko was NOT investigating Burisma or Bidens at the time of his ouster!

most people are hearing that for the first time

by Anonymousreply 195November 21, 2019 2:56 PM

Thank you, r188. The posts concerned about the soundbite poster 1) seem like the same person posting from multiple browsers and 2) are overly concerned about other opinions to the point it's annoying.

Kyle Griffin @ MSNBC tweets:

Who is going to take Dr. Fiona Hill as their DL moniker?

by Anonymousreply 202November 21, 2019 3:02 PM

Dr Hill is from county Durham which is in the north east of England and not too far from Scotland. For the poster who said she's trying to sound posh I disagree, she sounds like she's developed a bit of an American accent. Her vowels are still flat and northern which is the first thing that goes if a northerner tries to "poshify" their accent.

by Anonymousreply 203November 21, 2019 3:02 PM

Interesting that Holmes’s lawyer is my former boss, Ken Wainstein. Although he served as US Attorney in DC during Bu$h (and other DOJ jobs), I consider him Republican-lite. I haven’t spoken to him in a while, but I suspect that he is likely a never-tRumper — if indeed he still considers himself a Repub.

by Anonymousreply 208November 21, 2019 3:04 PM

just an interesting angle-

MSNBC has hired Andrew Weissmann, 1 of the lead prosecutors on the Mueller probe and a frequent Fox "News" target. They were consistently trying to discredit and attack him during the investigation. I'm glad he's finally getting a chance to share his own opinions now

by Anonymousreply 214November 21, 2019 3:08 PM

Manu @ CNN just tweeted this recapture:

“That’s when I saw Ambassador Bolton stiffen,” Fiona Hill says after Sondland was calling for “specific investigations” Ukrainians needed to launch before WH meeting. Bolton told Hill: “I want no part of whatever drug deal Mulvaney and Sondland are cooking up.”

by Anonymousreply 215November 21, 2019 3:09 PM

Hill names former Nunes aide Kash Patel as the person she believes was the NSC official she was told Trump wanted to speak with about Ukraine even though Patel was not involved in Ukraine policy.

by Anonymousreply 216November 21, 2019 3:09 PM

No wonder Sondland wanted to get the hell out of dodge yesterday and make his flight

by Anonymousreply 222November 21, 2019 3:15 PM

FYI

IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY

Trump hosting lunch with Romney, Collins — who declined to condemn House impeachment inquiry The two Republicans, along with Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, are the only three in the Senate who refused to join a resolution blasting the proceedings.

President Donald Trump invited Sens. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, and Susan Collins, R-Maine, and others to lunch at the White House on Thursday — breaking bread with Republicans who could go against him in a Senate impeachment trial.

Romney and Collins are two of only three Senate Republicans who declined to sign on as co-sponsors to a GOP resolution denouncing the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry, raising questions about how they would vote in a Senate trial to convict and remove Trump from office. The other Republican not to sign on is Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, another moderate vote who could break from the party.

Collins has said that it would be "inappropriate" for her "to reach conclusions about evidence or to comment on the proceedings in the House" because she will be expected to be essentially a juror once the Senate trial begins.

R221 I did not miss this at all. But why did she give him such a great review and then tells her colleague she had concerns about him. Isn't that weird? I would like to know why she had concerns about him, but never told him in person or in his review.

by Anonymousreply 224November 21, 2019 3:17 PM

When I compare people that Trump himself actually has hired many of them come off as almost cartoonish, people like Rudy, Sondland, Barr, Rick Perry, Ben Carson. Yet most of these professional State Department people are quite impressive, seem quite intelligent.

by Anonymousreply 225November 21, 2019 3:17 PM

Trump only hires fools because he always wants to be the "smartest" man in the room.

by Anonymousreply 226November 21, 2019 3:19 PM

R221 We can surely expect the repugnants to somehow work in a few if not many scurrilous smears when they come back. Vindman is already under 24 hr security on a military base in anticipation of an increasingly hostil campaign to destroy his reputation if not him.

by Anonymousreply 227November 21, 2019 3:19 PM

Things getting a bit testy on the CNN set.

by Anonymousreply 228November 21, 2019 3:19 PM

Can we expect a Kash Patel subpoena?

by Anonymousreply 229November 21, 2019 3:20 PM

Anyway to get Ron Johnson to testify?

by Anonymousreply 230November 21, 2019 3:21 PM

Nunes should recuse himself if Patel was involved.

Whose the big fat asshole on CNN?

by Anonymousreply 231November 21, 2019 3:22 PM

That is the reason I don't watch CNN much, they spend too much time screaming at each other and overtalking each over, it is totally non productive.

by Anonymousreply 232November 21, 2019 3:22 PM

R228 Who is this bald repug guy and why do the always live in an alternate reality and spread conspiracy theories?

by Anonymousreply 233November 21, 2019 3:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 234November 21, 2019 3:24 PM

R231, fat chance of that happening.

by Anonymousreply 235November 21, 2019 3:24 PM

isn't this the last public hearing unless 1 of the big names (Pence, Mulvaney, Bolton, Giuliani) agrees to testify?

I'd like to hear more about Patel though. The fact he was hired by Nunes gives me pause about his true intentions. The fact he went around his boss Fiona Hill to directly speak to Trump about Ukraine is "funny"

by Anonymousreply 236November 21, 2019 3:27 PM

*previously hired by Nunes

by Anonymousreply 237November 21, 2019 3:27 PM

[quote]Who is this bald repug guy and why do the always live in an alternate reality and spread conspiracy theories?

That would be Trump lickspittle David Urban, who is frustrating today's CNN panel with his obdurate refusal to accept reality.

by Anonymousreply 238November 21, 2019 3:28 PM

think about how many witnesses have testified that they spoke to legal counsel following something odd happening. I remember at least Vindman, Morrison and now Hill all saying that. Possibly others too

by Anonymousreply 239November 21, 2019 3:28 PM

So Trump's going to be impeached. He'll be exonerated in the Senate. But the Senate trial, with some of these same witnesses, with Chief Justice Roberts as presiding judge, will be high drama. I think Pence, Bolton, and Giuliani would have to testify.

by Anonymousreply 240November 21, 2019 3:30 PM

another tidbit...Kash Patel is suing Politico over their report about his involvement in Trump's Ukraine dealings

so Hill would likely be called as a witness in that case too

Oliver Darcy who is chief media reporter at CNN brings up this little factoid about today's coverage at our favorite propaganda network:

"Worth pointing out: Judge Andrew Napolitano, who has been extremely critical of Trump, has been MIA from Fox's special team providing analysis of the impeachment hearings. The network is using Ken Starr and Andrew McCarthy, but not Napolitano, its senior judicial analyst."

by Anonymousreply 242November 21, 2019 3:31 PM

[quote] why do the [repugs] always live in an alternate reality and spread conspiracy theories?

I wonder that too. Removing a symptom in the WH is not going to end their longterm disease. It's a wonder to me how the minority of Americans who do NOT as a matter of course believe more than six impossible things before breakfast stay sober working and dealing with repugs, beyond taking those rubes for their money.

by Anonymousreply 243November 21, 2019 3:32 PM

by Anonymousreply 253November 21, 2019 3:38 PM

John is from my hood as is Lawrence O'Donnell. We're really proud of them.

by Anonymousreply 256November 21, 2019 3:39 PM

Ken Starr is a major asshole. I was watching him on Fox yesterday and after Sondland's opening statement and first round of questions he suggested that republican Senators could convince Trump to resign now. Today Trump quoted him that he thinks the evidence is no where to justify impeachment.

by Anonymousreply 257November 21, 2019 3:39 PM

[quote]I often like CNNs guests better

[quote]maybe he's not featured in their peak hours but Napolitano was on with Neil Cavuto yesterday

He also took the Fox & Friends crackpots to the woodshed this morning:

"The ambassador (Sondland) is not a never Trumper. He is not a Democrat. He’s not somebody wanting to disrupt. This is the guy who’s given a million dollars to the Republican Party and is the most important Trump-nominated ambassador in Europe. And he’s saying this is what happened.

“The president wanted an announcement about Burisma, he didn’t care if there was an investigation. He just wanted the announcement so he could use it. And we know that the money was held up for 55 days. The president didn’t tell me that, because the president doesn’t say those things.

“He communicates through Rudy. Because the president knows from years when he did that here — communicate through the lawyer — that there is no attorney-client privilege in impeachment. And that’s why Rudy won’t testify.”

I have been anti Republican my whole life mainly because of their stance on social issues and the number of war hawks in that party, but I never before took them as traitors until recently. Can anyone explain why all of a sudden many in the Republican party would side with Russia and Putin over the interests of their own country. Not Trump, he is pretty transparent, I know he worships money and has been bought off by Russian money laundering, but those like Nunes, Meadows, Graham, why would anyone support Russia more than the US?

Republicans have convinced themselves they are the guardians of white, Christian morality. They are defending those ideals from extinction. So they can defend anything because the ends justify the means. We are baby killing, Satanists so of course, they might have to lie, cheat, steal in order to be us, the personification of evil. We clearly want to annihilate all white people, all straight people, all Christian people, all decency and ALL babies.

That’s their thinking.

This is R271, thanks for all your answers. My problem is the Republicans have been racist and wanting to protect the white race all my life, but they were also very patriotic and anti communist and anti any country who could threaten America and their way of life and privilege. That has changed, I just feel like something new has changed for them, but I don't get what it is. Yeah they hated Obama, but he is out of office, I just think there has to be something else, like Russia having dirt on them, or money for them, something has to have changed something more than Trump. Trump is a symptom not a cause in my opinion. Even beyond that why have so many rank and file Republicans become Russia supporters, Russia is not our friend, are they just gullible, power hungry or just traitors.

R284 It's interesting that the Catholic fascist white supremacist thing has been lost a bit in identification of the influence and power of the Evangelicals. AG Barr, for example, a member of the crypto-fascist Opus Dei. And Russia, with its resurgent and corrupt (aligned to the Oligarchs) Orthodox Church, if ground zero for right wing "Christian" ethnic cleansing. The position of Russia on the map of American politics is completely different from 20, even 10 years ago.

[quote]The root of the problem is that conservative pundits, and interest groups like the NRA, create an enviroment that the GOP, Trump, and Putin can exploit.

David Frum:

(A) closed knowledge system entraps millions of Americans in a universe of untruth, in which Trump is a victim and the allegations against him are “fake news.” The prisoners and victims of this system live in a dreamworld of lies. Yet it would not quite be accurate to describe them as uninformed. They are disinformed, and on a huge scale. The false-knowledge system supported by Nunes is closed and sealed, but also vast and intricate.

The Ukraine allegation against President Trump is simple and straightforward. It can all be summarized in a few sentences of plain English: Trump wanted dirty help for his 2020 reelection campaign. He sent messages demanding that dirty help to the Ukrainians directly on the phone and via his henchmen. He stalled military aid to extort the help. The Ukrainians nearly surrendered, until the whistle-blower report reached Congress on September 9 and knocked loose the aid on September 11.

Now watch Fox News or read the pro-Trump websites. Suddenly the story becomes very long and very complicated. It can hardly be summarized at all; it can only be alluded to indirectly by a litany of callout phrases: “Burisma.” “Hunter Biden.” “Where’s the whistle-blower?” “Vindman’s conflict of interests.” “Star chamber.” “#coup has started.” The intricate tale is animated by a burning rage of injustice against “fake news”—most of that “fake news” (like the story about Trump Tower Moscow) in fact true and corroborated.

The accusations against Trump are direct and intelligible to any open mind. The defense of Trump resembles the Star Wars saga: a universe of storytelling, in multiple parts, much of it comprehensible only if you venture beyond the visual franchise to a huge appendix of fan fiction and Wikipedia pages.

The House Republicans’ underlying argument is too jumbled and confusing even to be agreed with. It can only be absorbed. It is to be repeated, not to be analyzed. It is not even really an argument at all. It is a hypnotic litany, a creed of faith—a faith all the more compelling for defying sense and experience.

[quote] Can anyone explain why all of a sudden many in the Republican party would side with Russia and Putin over the interests of their own country.

We have explained this often. Please pay attention this time.

In the Bible Belt, postwar anti communist propaganda focused on the USSR being “godless communists” who were going to close down churches & take everyone’s bible away from them. It was very effective, as it horrified evangelicals who value their bibles more than their country.

Communist propaganda aimed at the Bible Belt, on the either hand, said that the US govt was secular and wanted to take god out of the schools. This is the fault of American atheists, so don’t trust the US government. Atheists & Jews want to take god, Christmas carols, the Bible and everything good & holy away from the people through the ACLU (run by Jews) and using “freedom of religion” as “freedom FROM religion,” which is not what the constitution said.

After the fall of the USSR, Russian orthodox churches were reopened. Since Putin has been in power, he has cozied up to the Russian Orthodox Church, making sure to be photographed in church services & with orthodox priests & bishops. Russia, as far as US evangelicals are concerned, is once again a Christian country. The Tsar & his family have been canonized as Russian orthodox saints.

Putin has encouraged white supremacy & homophobia in Russia, knowing that US racists will approve. Russian and Ukrainian-Russian men have beat up gays and harassed POC at soccer matches. US racists wish they could do that here.

Russia has helped deepen the divide between red America & blue America by playing to the racism, homophobia & theocratic elements in the red states. They encourage people to carry confederate & US flags, which makes no sense at all. Having a US flag next to a confederate flag was never a “thing” before. If you were confederate, you didn’t want the flag of the UNITED states of America on your truck or trailer.

The GOP adopted Russian propaganda tactics after the fall of the USSR and after Nixon. The GOP post-Watergate knew it was vital to take over media markets & remake them in their own image. That’s when Reagan came along & got rid of the Fairness Doctrine & regulations on media ownership. That’s when you started seeing rightwing radio hosts get traction. Then Fox News. Then internet sites like drudge, World net, free republic. Then the Tea party & “freedom caucus” & war on Christmas. Then Facebook. All the while, Putin was massaging people like Trump, the Kochs, Mercers, Coors, Zuckerberg, et al to hate liberalism & institute “libertarian” aka oligarchic values. “I’ve got mine. I’m special. You’re not special. You’re lazy & stupid & deserve to be poor.”

It’s been quite successful.

so Hill didn't know back in the summer that 2 channels were being run regarding Ukraine. It wasn't all Sondland's fault but she was left out of all he was doing.

by Anonymousreply 378November 21, 2019 5:37 PM

My goodness Fiona is a chatty thing. And she is absolutely convinced of the rightness of her position. As she should be. The Repukes have to be shitting themselves.

by Anonymousreply 379November 21, 2019 5:38 PM

She made me gasp.

by Anonymousreply 380November 21, 2019 5:38 PM

Republicans are learning they should not ask Hill many questions, just state their conspiracies and ask her if she knows anything about. If they actually ask her a question on the facts, she'll destroy their suppositions.

by Anonymousreply 381November 21, 2019 5:39 PM

Hill is cutting the balls of of Trump for his use of the government for personal political purposes.

by Anonymousreply 382November 21, 2019 5:39 PM

Hill eviscerates Castor about the domestic personal politics that she had to deal with. Nunes jumps in to deflect in an awkward takeover on his own counsel because Castor was getting killed by Hill.

by Anonymousreply 383November 21, 2019 5:39 PM

Wow. Never ask a question that you don’t know the answer to. Hill just zeroed in on the crux of the Sondland “remit,” which was a domestic political agenda Bingo!!!

by Anonymousreply 384November 21, 2019 5:39 PM

Yuh, but, um, but...

by Anonymousreply 385November 21, 2019 5:39 PM

uh oh Nunes just brought up Ukrainian election meddling...

by Anonymousreply 386November 21, 2019 5:39 PM

The Jordan/Hill showdown should be good.

by Anonymousreply 387November 21, 2019 5:39 PM

damn Hill didn't correct Nunes...c'mon

by Anonymousreply 388November 21, 2019 5:40 PM

Give Castor and Moo!nes more time! This is wonderful.

by Anonymousreply 389November 21, 2019 5:41 PM

Bolton told Hill to "stay out of domestic affairs"

by Anonymousreply 390November 21, 2019 5:41 PM

Nunes and counsel think they can double team her. Hah! When they make this movie it should be Kristen Scott "First Class isn't what it used to be" Thomas.

by Anonymousreply 391November 21, 2019 5:42 PM

Bolton had warned Volker not to meet with Giuliani...

by Anonymousreply 392November 21, 2019 5:42 PM

Nunes/Castor: Stop! Please stop! Please! We don't understand what you're talking about but it sounds so. bad for us!

Castor finally decides to cut his losses and pivots the discussion to Col. Vindman.

by Anonymousreply 395November 21, 2019 5:43 PM

Hill refutes Morrison's claim that she had something negative to say about Vindman. She wasn't questioning his judgment or expertise. She just didn't think he should take a position that was more political in the future

by Anonymousreply 396November 21, 2019 5:44 PM

She is defending Vindman.

by Anonymousreply 397November 21, 2019 5:45 PM

Castor's quizzical look does crack me up tho.

by Anonymousreply 398November 21, 2019 5:45 PM

Hill: "Vindman was justifiably alarmed" on July 10th

by Anonymousreply 399November 21, 2019 5:46 PM

Castor is so out of his depth. He has no idea what Fiona Hill is talking about.

by Anonymousreply 400November 21, 2019 5:46 PM

by Anonymousreply 407November 21, 2019 5:51 PM

BOOM!

YASSS, DOCTOR!

by Anonymousreply 408November 21, 2019 5:51 PM

There is just no comparison between these NSC and diplomatic types and the goofballs that Trump associates himself including Sondland, Stone, Manafort, Guiliani, etc., etc. They are just not quality people.

I think Trump supporters have no idea how the government is run - they really give Trump credit for all of it as if everyone is doing nothing just waiting for his leadership, like he's making all of the day to day stuff happen when he clearly does nothing except pursue his own personal interests.

by Anonymousreply 409November 21, 2019 5:52 PM

It drives me insane that the Rethugs have successfully revised history and no one ever remembers or brings up that a RETHUG is the person that initiated the Steele Dossier.

"By this point it was clear that Burisma was code for Biden."

by Anonymousreply 414November 21, 2019 5:54 PM

R409 Yep. Morrison replacing Hill. Sondland replacing Yovanovitch. All this process may not get Trump convicted by the Senate, but it shines the light on swamp-filling and lack of competence.

by Anonymousreply 415November 21, 2019 5:54 PM

Thank god for the “deep state” - that is, the dedicated experts who actually make and carry out national policies with the best interests of the country in mind.

by Anonymousreply 416November 21, 2019 5:54 PM

wow so Hill walked in on a tense exchange between Vindman and Sondland. She heard Sondland talk about "we have a deal that if Zelensky announces investigation into Burisma he gets a WH meeting" she cut it off

by Anonymousreply 417November 21, 2019 5:55 PM

Man, she is indeed a chatterbox. She's the type I avoid at all costs but don't mind her testimony here.

by Anonymousreply 418November 21, 2019 5:56 PM

Joyce Alene @JoyceWhiteVance: Fiona Hill slays. She recalls her anger Sondland was not briefing her. She says after hearing his testimony yesterday & learning he was briefing Pompeo, Bolton, Mulvaney & Trump, she decided he was correct-they had separate missions. Sonderland was on a domestic political errand.

Lisa Desjardins @LisaDNews: Fiona Hill is PREPARED for this hearing. - Knows everyone else's testimony, in deposition and this week - Knows all the dates/timeframes of events.

by Anonymousreply 423November 21, 2019 5:57 PM

so Jordan trying to discredit or intimidate Holmes...let's see how Holmes responds

by Anonymousreply 424November 21, 2019 5:57 PM

Gym comes in with the shit slinging.

by Anonymousreply 425November 21, 2019 5:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 426November 21, 2019 5:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 428November 21, 2019 5:58 PM

YOU Hear dr.hill speaking so eloquently then bam dumb ass basic hickory farms eating, Omaha steaks subscribing Gym Jordan, starts yammering.

by Anonymousreply 429November 21, 2019 5:58 PM

Gym Jordan's theatrics bring to mind this:

A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing:

by Anonymousreply 430November 21, 2019 5:59 PM

Jordan interrupts and yells at Holmes. Whoa, tacky.

by Anonymousreply 431November 21, 2019 6:00 PM

Gym Jordan starts out with a hardon fir Holmes. A huge rant ensues by Gym. Holmes facial expression is bemused and bored. Holmes asks to respond but Gym isn't finished bitching.

Holmes replies in a calm manner with generic facts about "the call" and his takeaway is "the president doesn't care about Ukraine".

Gym is rudely interrupting just to grandstand and demean the witness.

by Anonymousreply 432November 21, 2019 6:00 PM

I know Jim Jordan thinks he's so clever, but when he starts with his double speak/ rat a tat tat, I tune him out. He honestly never makes any sense.

I'm glad Holmes and Schiff are going after this wannabe lawyer who hasn't even taken a bar exam to actually be one. He has the degree, so he's like that person who went to college to get a good degree but now stays at home because they can't figure out what to do with their life.

by Anonymousreply 439November 21, 2019 6:02 PM

by Anonymousreply 444November 21, 2019 6:03 PM

by Anonymousreply 445November 21, 2019 6:03 PM

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PUT ON A JACKET, GYM.

by Anonymousreply 446November 21, 2019 6:03 PM

by Anonymousreply 454November 21, 2019 6:10 PM

I find it quite ironic that the very type of men who did burn uppity women as witches now cry about being victims of witch hunts.

by Anonymousreply 457November 21, 2019 6:11 PM

Hill blows up the repub theory that Trump is justified because Ukrainian officials criticized him

she said many countries had officials doing the same thing disparaging Trump but that hasn't changed our relationship. Only Ukraine for some reason...

by Anonymousreply 458November 21, 2019 6:11 PM

Ratcliffe started coughing because he knows he's lying. Only people that look like that do that...

by Anonymousreply 459November 21, 2019 6:12 PM

Hill agrees Giuliani was a hand grenade. She testifies to threats of public attacks on her safety but remains undeterred.

Sewell yields.

by Anonymousreply 469November 21, 2019 6:21 PM

Can someone summarize what the deal is with Nunes and cows?

by Anonymousreply 470November 21, 2019 6:24 PM

{quote] We have explained this often. Please pay attention this time.

R373 that is all I read of your snarky response, as I could hardly expect to read anything intelligent from someone who believes an insult is the best way to communicate.

by Anonymousreply 471November 21, 2019 6:24 PM

Then this Turner jackass compares smears against Elise Stefanik to smears against Yovanovitch. What a turd he is.

by Anonymousreply 472November 21, 2019 6:25 PM

"Is there a question for Dr. Hill?"

by Anonymousreply 473November 21, 2019 6:26 PM

He made no sense.

by Anonymousreply 474November 21, 2019 6:26 PM

Turner is so stupid...didn't even ask Dr. Hill a question, so therefore everything she said, he believes in.

by Anonymousreply 475November 21, 2019 6:26 PM

Mike Turner is up for the Repubs. He's carrying on about nothingness. Now he goes after Hill for claiming to "have heard" things. His attack is that she does too much surmising. He's not asking a question. He's characterizing the proceedings in a mocking way to appeal to Fox and tRump.

He turns to Holmes. He attacks him for being anecdotal.

by Anonymousreply 476November 21, 2019 6:26 PM

The members (and it's both sides) just prattle on trying to make the point they're interested in making, not asking real questions on the facts. This particular format, having counsels ask real questions, was so important.

by Anonymousreply 477November 21, 2019 6:27 PM

I love these two witnesses. Every time the Republicunts try to intimidate them, they laugh in their faces and eyeroll. They literally laugh at them every time they say stupid shit. They know they're losing, and Hill and Holmes aren't even breaking a sweat. Sondland looked like a jackass, and Holmes and Hill are just openly sneering at them. Holmes is laughing at how stupid that last idiotic diatribe.

by Anonymousreply 478November 21, 2019 6:27 PM

I adore David Holmes and his frequent sideye and smirk as he listens to Gym ranting incoherently.

"I see you have 4 seconds left."

by Anonymousreply 479November 21, 2019 6:28 PM

Hill is great when giving statements, but she needs to be more pithy in the lightening round Q&A. She took way too much time summarizing a two-year old article when Himes was up.

by Anonymousreply 480November 21, 2019 6:29 PM

by Anonymousreply 496November 21, 2019 6:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 497November 21, 2019 6:36 PM

If he's an actual physician, I damn sure wouldn't go to see him...he talks too much and is psychotic to believe that the Dems think Russia DIDN'T participate in the attack in 2016.

Did you notice how Dr. Hill sat there and said that Ratcliffe and Turner left the room after giving the performance of their lives? Honey, have several seats if you're doing that. Nobody does dramatic exits except queens. Mary!

by Anonymousreply 498November 21, 2019 6:37 PM

(Speech coaches know that Ratcliffe's inability to do this is a sign of nervousness).

by Anonymousreply 499November 21, 2019 6:37 PM

Wenstrup is up now. Playing up his military service. Humblebragging.

Attacks Hill for speaking truth to power about denial of Russian interference in elections. Long winded speechifying so Fox can extract good sound bites.

Lectures us on hatred. That's fucking rich.

Hill insists on responding. Agrees with overcoming hatred. She expresses disappointment that GOP who questioned her earlier have left. She insists we stop partisan bickering over elections. She gently lectures the committee for questioning her motives in testifying.

They are asking NO questions. They are just making statements during their 5 minute time.

She told Wenstrup, "That was very eloquent." That's British for "you tried."

by Anonymousreply 508November 21, 2019 6:42 PM

An ancillary observation: for the first two years of the Trump administration, there were "adults in the rooms", the proverbial guardrails. Then "let Trump be Trump" became more of the operating principle.... folks like Hill leaving because of the unofficial channel of Ukraine-bribery diplomacy. There could be real crises in these next 18 months.

by Anonymousreply 528November 21, 2019 6:48 PM

R522, yes a SUN burn victim!

by Anonymousreply 529November 21, 2019 6:48 PM

Has anything in the Steele dossier actually been disproven?

by Anonymousreply 530November 21, 2019 6:48 PM

Jackie Speier is lobbing softballs. Yields.

Chris Stewart is up for the GOP more long winded distractions. Whining how unfair it is to tRump. Where's the whistleblower? Is he a Biden partisan. Was there a deep state, what about Hunter Biden, what about corruption, more Chalupa shit.

I just can't anymore...

Thank god he's done with no questions. Tiresome individual.

by Anonymousreply 531November 21, 2019 6:48 PM

About 90% of the Steele dossier has been confirmed. That's why the Republicans hate it.

by Anonymousreply 532November 21, 2019 6:50 PM

Does someone want to start a part 2? I can but I don't know to link a new thread to this one.

by Anonymousreply 533November 21, 2019 6:50 PM

[quote]What the hell is this bozo yammering on about?

For one thing, he's warning other potential whistleblowers that the Republicans will relentlessly smear and attack them.

by Anonymousreply 534November 21, 2019 6:51 PM

Every Republican watching should take note:

YOUR REPS WERE TOO COWARDLY TO ASK HILL A SINGLE QUESTION BECAUSE SHE WOULD'VE OWNED EVERY ONE OF THOSE SNIVELING TRUMP SHIT-EATING COWARDS AND YOU KNOW IT AND THEY KNEW IT.

by Anonymousreply 535November 21, 2019 6:51 PM

r530, the Russian pee pee girls has never been proven.

by Anonymousreply 536November 21, 2019 6:52 PM

In the movie, I hope Dr. Hill is played by that Mrs. O'Brien actress from Downton Abbey. She’s sharp and disciplined, and can lower the boom on some fool when required. And she can do the accent.

by Anonymousreply 537November 21, 2019 6:53 PM

Ugh Stefanik cunt is up.

by Anonymousreply 538November 21, 2019 6:53 PM

Oh jeez, not this again.

by Anonymousreply 539November 21, 2019 6:54 PM

Part II when we need it.

by Anonymousreply 540November 21, 2019 6:54 PM

Told you bitches Stefanik didn't learn any lessons.

by Anonymousreply 541November 21, 2019 6:54 PM

During the earlier break I was listening to CSPAN-3 while I made some lunch - just so I'd know when it came back on. A Republican caller from Florida came on and went on about how Trump said he would tackle corruption and I think she really believed that he has. Some of these people don't pay very close attention. The last caller during the break was a guy from Alabama and he said, "I want to apologise for all the morons from Alabama who phoned in earlier for all the stupid things they said. Fuck the President!" I can't remember if he referred to him as President but it was pretty funny.

by Anonymousreply 542November 21, 2019 6:54 PM

Why the fuck is their strategy to now try to claim they have never said there was no Russian interference?

by Anonymousreply 543November 21, 2019 6:55 PM

It amazes me just how much the Repukes just lie and lie and lie...

and ALWAYS Get away with it!

by Anonymousreply 544November 21, 2019 6:55 PM

I'm getting the impression that Mr. Holmes has had experience handling dumbass bossy bottoms like Gym Jordan.

by Anonymousreply 545November 21, 2019 6:56 PM

Adam Schiff needs to point out that the report on Russian election meddling the Republicans keep pointing to specifically denies that Moscow sought to boost Trump's changes of being elected, in opposition to every U.S. intelligence agency.

by Anonymousreply 546November 21, 2019 6:57 PM

[quote]"I want to apologise for all the morons from Alabama who phoned in earlier for all the stupid things they said. Fuck the President!" I can't remember if he referred to him as President but it was pretty funny.

We should get a gofundme started to get that poor bastard out of AL.

by Anonymousreply 547November 21, 2019 6:57 PM

Stefanik's "hometown" paper has ripped he for her performance. Bonus: she’s not even from the district she represents.

by Anonymousreply 548November 21, 2019 6:57 PM

Like Mueller, Hill is trying to get across a major warning. IT WAS THE RUSSIANS. THEY DID IT BEFORE AND THEY WILL DO IT AGAIN.

by Anonymousreply 549November 21, 2019 6:57 PM

Stefanik is disturbing to watch. She's like that crazy fake bitch Mindy in HR who rage texts her boyfriend all day.

by Anonymousreply 550November 21, 2019 6:58 PM

R547 ALA has a Dem Senator, This guy needs to stay there and vote.

by Anonymousreply 551November 21, 2019 6:58 PM

Thanks R540

by Anonymousreply 552November 21, 2019 7:00 PM

Salwell bringing up Patel...and Parnas...

by Anonymousreply 553November 21, 2019 7:01 PM

Swalwell mentions Patel and Parnas.

In goes the knife for Nunes.

by Anonymousreply 554November 21, 2019 7:01 PM

Swalwell dragging Nunes...wow

by Anonymousreply 555November 21, 2019 7:01 PM

Whoa, Swawell lowers the boom. Is Nunes still there? We need a camera on him.

by Anonymousreply 556November 21, 2019 7:02 PM

Parnas' attorney is Ed MacMahon? Hi-ohhhh!

by Anonymousreply 557November 21, 2019 7:02 PM

Can someone explain to me this tactic by the GOP who think because the attempt by Trump never went through, it never happened? I mean I know others have pointed it out, but how fucking dumb can Republicans at home be? Are they really this stupid that they think attempted murder is no longer a crime because the murder never happened?

Republicans, for the love of God, sterilize yourselves. You are too stupid to live, let alone reproduce more stupidity.

What a party of absolute imbeciles.

by Anonymousreply 558November 21, 2019 7:04 PM

R556, he's been on the toilet all morning and afternoon.

by Anonymousreply 559November 21, 2019 7:05 PM

Lol Holmes searching for a disembodied voice...

by Anonymousreply 560November 21, 2019 7:05 PM

Yes R558. It's called gaslighting.

by Anonymousreply 561November 21, 2019 7:06 PM

Nunes was there, head down contemplating his belly.

by Anonymousreply 562November 21, 2019 7:07 PM

Zelinsky is Jewish? Is this the first time that's been mentioned during this whole thing? Just wondering.

Amazing that he was elected president of Ukraine; Ukraine is notorious for being anti-Semitic.

by Anonymousreply 563November 21, 2019 7:07 PM

R558, Because they know the base is simpleminded and will go with whatever bullshit they're fed, because they have no research/critical thinking skills.

by Anonymousreply 564November 21, 2019 7:07 PM

Does Hurd have a question?

by Anonymousreply 565November 21, 2019 7:08 PM

No, r565, apparently none of the GOP reps do.

by Anonymousreply 566November 21, 2019 7:09 PM

He is concerned but not really, he is GOP Sheeple.

by Anonymousreply 567November 21, 2019 7:09 PM

R565, he's a Republican, so obviously not.

by Anonymousreply 568November 21, 2019 7:09 PM

Hurd is going full throat on PROCESS.

Again no facts to solicit.

by Anonymousreply 569November 21, 2019 7:09 PM

Why are they still obsessed with the Whistleblower???? At this point he/she is irrelevant.

by Anonymousreply 570November 21, 2019 7:10 PM

Goddamn, Julian Castro! He's not holding back! Love him.

by Anonymousreply 571November 21, 2019 7:10 PM

The Republicans know this is the last hearing so they are trying to basically run the clock out.

But I'm sure they're still pissed that it's likely Orange Cretin will still be Impeached in the House.

by Anonymousreply 572November 21, 2019 7:11 PM

THRILLED that Swalwell brought up Kash Patel and implicated Nunes. DELICIOUS

by Anonymousreply 573November 21, 2019 7:11 PM

I just donated to Elise Stefanik's Dem challenger Tedra Cobb.

by Anonymousreply 574November 21, 2019 7:11 PM

It is a Fox/Trump schreeching point about due process [which does not apply to a grand jury investigation].

by Anonymousreply 575November 21, 2019 7:12 PM

R570 Trumpers thinking: it's the deep state trying a coup to unseat an elected President. Schiff and the whistleblower working in collusion. It's crackpot, but you can see the warped logic. "Look, I can put the ball here and it doesn't roll. The world is flat!" 30% of Americans believe the world is flat.

by Anonymousreply 576November 21, 2019 7:13 PM

Schiff's closing statement should be good.

by Anonymousreply 577November 21, 2019 7:14 PM

Okay, this is not a coincidence that they keep pushing that they believe Putin and Russia interfered...

Why the desperate turnaround?

by Anonymousreply 578November 21, 2019 7:16 PM

God bless Dr. Hill!

by Anonymousreply 579November 21, 2019 7:16 PM

They really get so fucking hard talking about Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 580November 21, 2019 7:16 PM

I love you, R579

by Anonymousreply 581November 21, 2019 7:18 PM

Mooooooooo

by Anonymousreply 582November 21, 2019 7:18 PM

Dr. Hill just said "American fracking", but her accent made it sound like "American fucking"!

by Anonymousreply 583November 21, 2019 7:18 PM

Fiona Hill and David Holmes make a handsome couple ♥️👩🏻‍🤝‍👨🏼

by Anonymousreply 584November 21, 2019 7:19 PM

R578 the repubs are aware of media and public perception. The repubs have not criticized Russia throughout these hearings until today. To be fair not all the repubs are spewing propaganda but when you have ranking member Nunes repeatedly saying "Ukrainian interference" and others saying that because a Ukrainian diplomat and some officials bashed Trump the election (as Hill said other countries did it too), it makes the repubs seem sympathetic to Russia

They are attempting to "prove" they aren't Russian sympathizers today

by Anonymousreply 585November 21, 2019 7:19 PM

R582 is gon' git sued!

by Anonymousreply 586November 21, 2019 7:20 PM

Good one r571.

by Anonymousreply 587November 21, 2019 7:20 PM

They are saying that Russia interfered and so did Ukraine.

by Anonymousreply 588November 21, 2019 7:21 PM

These Republicans are just nasty nasty people.

by Anonymousreply 589November 21, 2019 7:21 PM

Conaway is losing it. He knows the GOP has been taking a beating during these hearings.

by Anonymousreply 590November 21, 2019 7:21 PM

Yeah, R585.. but why today after years of them all screeching no such thing happened. There's a reason this is their new strategy.

by Anonymousreply 591November 21, 2019 7:22 PM

Well I fucked that one up.

I meant good one r579 of course.

by Anonymousreply 592November 21, 2019 7:22 PM

[quote]the GOP has been taking a beating during these hearings.

If only it were literal. They really just cancerous assholes.

by Anonymousreply 593November 21, 2019 7:22 PM

Denny Heck is effective. Sweet uncle Denny who will rip you a new asshole before you know what hit you.

by Anonymousreply 594November 21, 2019 7:23 PM

They're*

by Anonymousreply 595November 21, 2019 7:23 PM

R590 the Rethugs aren't so stupid that they don't know that Hill and Holmes aren't to be played with.

by Anonymousreply 596November 21, 2019 7:23 PM

Republicans are at this stage now.

by Anonymousreply 597November 21, 2019 7:23 PM

[quote]Yeah, [R585].. but why today after years of them all screeching no such thing happened. There's a reason this is their new strategy.

THEY'RE ON TELEVISION BEING SEEN WORLDWIDE!

by Anonymousreply 598November 21, 2019 7:25 PM

That gif never fails to make me laugh. What a talented little actress

by Anonymousreply 599November 21, 2019 7:25 PM

Do you there’s constant awkwardness in the halls of Congress between the Democrats and Rethugs? Like how could Schiff even stand to look at some of his R colleagues, let alone utter a friendly salutation?

by Anonymousreply 600November 21, 2019 7:25 PM

It is true that the Repubs all signed on to a Committee report that said Russia interfered in The 2016 election. It just watered it down and insisted it had nothing to do with Trump.

by Anonymousreply 601November 21, 2019 7:25 PM

I wish someone would moo at Nunes

by Anonymousreply 602November 21, 2019 7:25 PM

Oh no GYM JORDAN back up again

by Anonymousreply 603November 21, 2019 7:26 PM

A question to Hill from Jordan! Wow.

by Anonymousreply 604November 21, 2019 7:26 PM

Quick! Someone start a Part Two thread.

by Anonymousreply 605November 21, 2019 7:26 PM

A "Russia interfered." B Putin preferred that Trump win C Trump's organization colluded with Russian interference

Repubs will acknowledge A. They say B and C are "a hoax." There is conclusive evidence that B is true. Mueller resisted saying that C is true.

by Anonymousreply 606November 21, 2019 7:27 PM

Schiff has been using Trump’s “catch phrase” tactic in his opening and closing statements: “He got caught. He got caught.” Keeping it short and sweet so the Deplorables can understand.

by Anonymousreply 607November 21, 2019 7:27 PM

Looks like Dump got on the phone and ordered Gym to "Ask the cunt a question, you fucking pussy!"

by Anonymousreply 608November 21, 2019 7:28 PM

R608 Trust, there will be a rant, but no question.

by Anonymousreply 609November 21, 2019 7:29 PM

I love Schiff but he, like other Democrats, need to learn, if you're trying to reach Rethugs, you can't use big words.

Just repeat over and over:

Drumpf lied. Drumpf got caught. Drumpf committed a crime. Drumpf is secretly besties with Hillary.
