Why so angry at JLD R2?

I'm not R2, but I get where he's coming from. I love Julia, and have loved watching her through various high caliber comedies, and it's undeniable that her work on Veep is exceptional, but she's been so dominant throughout this series that she's prevented a lot of really strong actresses from getting on stage... Amy Poehler, for one. And this year there are comedic actresses that are every bit as good as Julia is, perhaps even better. Catherine O'Hara's work is next level, and Phoebe Waller Bridge's performance is so nuanced, funny, and heartbreaking. The Emmys have an opportunity to award an interesting and unique performance, or go the same route they've gone every year Julia was eligible.

I didn't realise Jessica L already lost her nomination. I'm sure she'll be back next year for her new show.

Mahershala Ali for True Detective and Sharp Objects for Limited Series. Don't care about the rest but I'll watch.

A big failing with The Emmys is constantly awarding the same performance. Helen Hunt and Jim Parsons leap to mind.

I think Succession will pull off a surprise win over Game of Thrones. Because Succession has become an obsession with the show biz elite and that final season of GoT sucked donkey’s balls.

I would KILL to see the great Bob Odenkirk win for BETTER CALL SAUL. It's too much to hope for that the show would win too, but at least they could give him a well deserved award.

Would like to see Bill Hader win too, although I haven't even seen BARRY.

At least JLD wont win next year or for awhile since her show is over. Unless she already has something lined up lol

This year's nominations were some of the laziest on record.

It was obvious Academy members gave it all 2 seconds thought and voted for whoever seemed popular that week or month.

Some of the snubs were criminal.

Hopefully they have a tribute to Valerie Harper tonight AND DO IT RIGHT. Not this slap her name at the end of a memorial bullshit. The woman was a television icon. You get someone up there and you FUCKING TELL THE AUDIENCE ABOUT HER GREATNESS. Trust me, there will be blowback to the Academy if she is not given the respect she deserves.
