Carry on, my wayward sons!!!
How about that Chernobyl win!!!!!!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 23, 2019 1:44 AM |
I'm pretty sure this thread is more entertaining than the actual show.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 23, 2019 1:45 AM |
is there any other part 2 threads?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 23, 2019 1:45 AM |
I repeat, nuclear radiation is having a great night.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 23, 2019 1:45 AM |
Sorry I didn't make the part 2 in time, everyone! I'm high and was rapt by the CHERNOBYL WIN!!!!!!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 23, 2019 1:46 AM |
Lin-Manuel Miranda? Uggh.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 23, 2019 1:46 AM |
Next year Phoebe WB and Bill Hader should host the Emmy's.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 23, 2019 1:46 AM |
This show is a piece of schitt
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 23, 2019 1:46 AM |
R4 yes, but the other thread has a grammatical error in the title, so I'm using this one.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 23, 2019 1:47 AM |
What awards are we on now? Sorry not near a tv.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 23, 2019 1:47 AM |
Who's singing? He's not good.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 23, 2019 1:47 AM |
Or this guy singing the V A R I E T Y song should host.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 23, 2019 1:47 AM |
So Lin KNEW he was gonna be presenting, but still needed to get screen time during Michelle Williams' win?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 23, 2019 1:47 AM |
What an embarrasing musical number
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 23, 2019 1:47 AM |
Okay, I could do without this musical number...
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 23, 2019 1:47 AM |
R13, no, he shouldn’t.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 23, 2019 1:48 AM |
Adam Devine tried
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 23, 2019 1:49 AM |
Um, yeah. Uh huh. r17
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 23, 2019 1:49 AM |
What the hell is this homosexual nonsense? I hate musical numbers so much.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 23, 2019 1:49 AM |
Glad to see Seth Meyers nominated.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 23, 2019 1:49 AM |
Some good wins tonight, but the show itself — presenter speeches and interludes — is a snowball of shit, gathering more shit on the way down.
Did they dispense with an executive producer along with a host?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 23, 2019 1:49 AM |
So Lin KNEW he was gonna be presenting, but still needed to get screen time during Michelle Williams' win? '
He produced her show, they were sitting together and he helped her up the stairs. You don't have to hate him for everything.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 23, 2019 1:49 AM |
Was Jimmy Fallon shut out AGAIN??? HAHAHAHAHAHA Good
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 23, 2019 1:50 AM |
I love John Oliver, but I really wanna see Samantha Bee win this one day.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 23, 2019 1:50 AM |
This crowd is wild.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 23, 2019 1:50 AM |
Seth Meyers was there talking shit and then the camera went on him so he turned his face lmaoooo
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 23, 2019 1:51 AM |
Jimmy Fallon should be shut out of everything.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 23, 2019 1:51 AM |
How long has John Oliver been dominant in this category?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 23, 2019 1:51 AM |
I miss when the Emmys presented Comedy/Variety Writing with funny clips to accompany the laundry lists of nominees.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 23, 2019 1:52 AM |
Jimmy Fallon is awful. So happy that ever since hes taken over the show its been a flop
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 23, 2019 1:52 AM |
When did this show get this bad.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 23, 2019 1:52 AM |
I think this is his 5th in a row.Not sure.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 23, 2019 1:52 AM |
Did Constance Wu refuse to show up to the Emmys now that shes a movie star?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 23, 2019 1:52 AM |
I almost thought they were going to say Sarah Silverman.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 23, 2019 1:52 AM |
Agreed, r28.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 23, 2019 1:53 AM |
Ucch, Drunk History was robbed!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 23, 2019 1:53 AM |
SNL did not deserve this. Oh well...
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 23, 2019 1:53 AM |
Ugh, Loren is such a pompous, boated turd. What would Belushi say about what he's become?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 23, 2019 1:53 AM |
R34 I bet Randall is glad he didn't have to present with her ungrateful ass.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 23, 2019 1:53 AM |
I love Sarah Silverman lowkey
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 23, 2019 1:54 AM |
SNL? So stale and tired.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 23, 2019 1:54 AM |
hot mess cringe-fest all around. loving it
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 23, 2019 1:54 AM |
Loved the wig on Jon Hamm
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 23, 2019 1:54 AM |
Okay Lorne.
Say goodnight.
Get the fuck off the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 23, 2019 1:54 AM |
You're right, Lorne: it's just so sad Chris Farley choked to death on his own vomit.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 23, 2019 1:54 AM |
SNL must have submitted the John Mulaney episode. There's no other explanation for this win.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 23, 2019 1:54 AM |
R30 ME TOO!!! Oh I loved that so much... showed off the individuality and eccentricity of the various writers rooms. That was back when Conan was nominated. Conan was my favorite.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 23, 2019 1:55 AM |
*Lorne*
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 23, 2019 1:55 AM |
SNL really??
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 23, 2019 1:55 AM |
It's funny as they name all these nominated hosts and they have no host for their show.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 23, 2019 1:55 AM |
With all these surprises I still think Succession could take it tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 23, 2019 1:55 AM |
Lorne Michaels has Larry King Dry Mouth Weird Tongue Syndrome
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 23, 2019 1:55 AM |
I like musical numbers, but they need to be GOOD.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 23, 2019 1:56 AM |
No, Lorne said it was the Adam Sandler episode. He got all maudlin. I never could stand Adam Sandler.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 23, 2019 1:56 AM |
Another Emmy for Lindsay Shookus.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 23, 2019 1:56 AM |
SNL must have submitted the John Mulaney episode. There's no other explanation for this win.
Lorne said they submitted the Sandler episode, though Mulaney was obviously better. It was a good strategic move considering the tribute to Farley at the end, and how much that would likely affect voters.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 23, 2019 1:56 AM |
It sounds like the big trend this year is to use your Emmy win to wring tears for someone dead, no matter when that death happened.
If I won, I'd start weeping over Lillian Gish. "Taken away TOO SOON!"
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 23, 2019 1:57 AM |
American Son looks awful and Kerry Washington’s performance looks painfully bad.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 23, 2019 1:57 AM |
Fucking hell. The Sandler episode was a piece of shit. Just like everything else Sandler touches.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 23, 2019 1:57 AM |
Unpopular Opinion... I never found Chris Farley or Phil Hartman funny
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 23, 2019 1:57 AM |
I love Sarah Silverman lowkey
Me too. She's great in the Wreck It Ralph films.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 23, 2019 1:57 AM |
They filmed American Son? I wanna see that.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 23, 2019 1:58 AM |
Loved the Lola Heatherton Dancers!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | September 23, 2019 1:58 AM |
[R30] ME TOO!!! Oh I loved that so much... showed off the individuality and eccentricity of the various writers rooms. That was back when Conan was nominated. Conan was my favorite.
As Emmy awards skits go, these were the funniest, imho. My favorite was for "Da Ali G Show", where the clips were all closeups of male porn stars' "o-faces".
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 23, 2019 1:58 AM |
R60 Big Daddy begs to differ
by Anonymous | reply 67 | September 23, 2019 1:58 AM |
I’m surprised that Lorne didn’t say “Sorry that we hired a racist a few weeks ago”
by Anonymous | reply 68 | September 23, 2019 1:59 AM |
R66 Hahaha, I remember that one. I think one was done with all muppets... can't remember which show it was.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | September 23, 2019 1:59 AM |
I don’t find Cedric entertaining.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | September 23, 2019 2:00 AM |
It's Deputy Leo!
by Anonymous | reply 71 | September 23, 2019 2:00 AM |
No but he's jolly and lovable.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | September 23, 2019 2:00 AM |
Max is so cute.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | September 23, 2019 2:00 AM |
Where's Max Greenfield been? He was once nominated for an Emmy.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | September 23, 2019 2:01 AM |
Max Greenfield. I find him "cute" in a weird way
by Anonymous | reply 75 | September 23, 2019 2:01 AM |
Another reference to the dead in an acceptance speech!
by Anonymous | reply 76 | September 23, 2019 2:02 AM |
R74 hes on a sitcom now.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 23, 2019 2:02 AM |
Anyone else think Primetime is killing the Emmy threads. We'd usually be on part 3 or 4 by now.
Or is this site just not as popular as it used to be.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | September 23, 2019 2:02 AM |
r74 he has a show on CBS with Cedric
by Anonymous | reply 79 | September 23, 2019 2:02 AM |
r78 There is no Primetime in effect right now.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 23, 2019 2:02 AM |
Here she is with her big black check mark on her head.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | September 23, 2019 2:03 AM |
I'm still wondering why Lord Varys and Bran weren't on the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | September 23, 2019 2:03 AM |
Except for the hat, Billy looks great
by Anonymous | reply 83 | September 23, 2019 2:03 AM |
The foreigners are beating our ass tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | September 23, 2019 2:04 AM |
That hat is fucking obnoxious.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | September 23, 2019 2:04 AM |
Yuck
by Anonymous | reply 86 | September 23, 2019 2:04 AM |
Did anyone see David Benioff or Dan Weiss? No photos, nothing from the audience. Are they still in hiding? Because Gwen and Emilia sure got loud applause when they were introduced.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | September 23, 2019 2:04 AM |
Why is John Oliver winning all the awards? His show sucks.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | September 23, 2019 2:05 AM |
Damn Taraji B Henson wore her nightgown to the emmys.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | September 23, 2019 2:05 AM |
More red and pink on Taraji. Was a dress code announced?
by Anonymous | reply 90 | September 23, 2019 2:05 AM |
I believe you mean the Juul Haalmeyer dancers, r65.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | September 23, 2019 2:05 AM |
Taraji P. Henson's sartorial tribute to "I Dream of Jeannie" is so touching.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | September 23, 2019 2:05 AM |
I'm still wondering why Lord Varys and Bran weren't on the stage.
Just the nominated cast members.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | September 23, 2019 2:05 AM |
John Oliver wins again for shouting at the choir.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | September 23, 2019 2:06 AM |
Why would you ever thank your kids, wtf?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | September 23, 2019 2:06 AM |
So there's an "In Memoriam" for SHOWS, now?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | September 23, 2019 2:06 AM |
Who gives a fuck how sad those millionaire sitcom stars are?
by Anonymous | reply 97 | September 23, 2019 2:07 AM |
Whats up with the red and pink combo tonight?
by Anonymous | reply 98 | September 23, 2019 2:07 AM |
Broad City was iconic.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | September 23, 2019 2:08 AM |
Where were the tributes for all my shows???
by Anonymous | reply 100 | September 23, 2019 2:08 AM |
yes, R96, for shows that have passed on to syndication.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | September 23, 2019 2:08 AM |
Another great episode of Succession tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | September 23, 2019 2:08 AM |
Was "Orange is the New Black" included in that little montage? I don't think I saw it.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | September 23, 2019 2:09 AM |
Why don't they let Kit Harington present? I just want to see him walk across that stage and then pause so everyone can just look at him.....
by Anonymous | reply 104 | September 23, 2019 2:09 AM |
Watchmen looks like a fiasco.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | September 23, 2019 2:10 AM |
Maisie and Alfie look good. Alfie cleans up really nice.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | September 23, 2019 2:10 AM |
Fuck that straight white nonsense Succession. There's a separate thread for that foolishness, take it there.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | September 23, 2019 2:11 AM |
Haha, Watchmen could be good! I like all the middle age+ people dressing up as super heroes.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | September 23, 2019 2:11 AM |
r105 I've got a bad feeling about it as well.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | September 23, 2019 2:11 AM |
You mean to see if he falls down drunk, r104?
by Anonymous | reply 110 | September 23, 2019 2:11 AM |
Okay then r80 I guess DL is just dead.
Maybe we can get one of the next Emmy winners to mention it in their speech.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | September 23, 2019 2:12 AM |
Even without a host this show feels interminable.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | September 23, 2019 2:12 AM |
45 minutes to go!
by Anonymous | reply 113 | September 23, 2019 2:13 AM |
“Thank you for watching television.”
by Anonymous | reply 114 | September 23, 2019 2:13 AM |
Viola Davis’ sneakers are despicable.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | September 23, 2019 2:14 AM |
Viola Davis is wearing an Angela Davis wig!
FAR OUT!
by Anonymous | reply 116 | September 23, 2019 2:14 AM |
Viola! WTF?
by Anonymous | reply 117 | September 23, 2019 2:14 AM |
Viola looks awful
by Anonymous | reply 118 | September 23, 2019 2:14 AM |
Viola's shoes make her walk funny.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | September 23, 2019 2:14 AM |
She sloped on that stage like a crack whore.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | September 23, 2019 2:15 AM |
Why is Viola walking funny?
by Anonymous | reply 121 | September 23, 2019 2:15 AM |
I sense Viola doesn't want to be there.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | September 23, 2019 2:15 AM |
The category-frauding dwarf AGAIN? Sickening.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | September 23, 2019 2:15 AM |
Why do they keep giving him these awards? He wasnt that great in this last season. At least he cant win next year.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | September 23, 2019 2:16 AM |
They're quickly lowering the microphone about three feet.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | September 23, 2019 2:16 AM |
When I watched [italic]Wiseguy[/italic] back in the 80s, I never would've guessed Jonathan Banks would've had such an enduring career. Not that he doesn't deserve it; he's certainly a solid actor. But not pretty.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | September 23, 2019 2:16 AM |
Hes wonderful on GOT. Stop hating
by Anonymous | reply 127 | September 23, 2019 2:16 AM |
Dinklage’s accent alone on GoT is horrendous.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | September 23, 2019 2:16 AM |
Viola? She look like a man
by Anonymous | reply 129 | September 23, 2019 2:17 AM |
Does he get a midget Emmy statue?
by Anonymous | reply 130 | September 23, 2019 2:17 AM |
He’s won FOUR TIMES R127. Spread the fucking wealth.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | September 23, 2019 2:17 AM |
I just got the vibe Gwendolyn Christie isn’t a fan of Dinklage.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | September 23, 2019 2:18 AM |
What did they bleep from Dinklage? Any guesses?
by Anonymous | reply 133 | September 23, 2019 2:18 AM |
I was rooting for Giancarlo :-(
by Anonymous | reply 134 | September 23, 2019 2:18 AM |
I wonder if he'll thank The Munchkins for paving the way for little people in Hollywood.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | September 23, 2019 2:18 AM |
He certainly should have been in Lead this past season or two, instead he went for the easy win in Supporting.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | September 23, 2019 2:18 AM |
Did Cherry Jones buy her suit at Wal-Mart?
by Anonymous | reply 137 | September 23, 2019 2:19 AM |
Love Cherry Jones.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | September 23, 2019 2:19 AM |
The Dink is awesome on GOT.
Haters can blow me!
by Anonymous | reply 139 | September 23, 2019 2:19 AM |
I just got the vibe Gwendolyn Christie isn’t a fan of Dinklage.
She and Nikolaj are close, she was probably rooting for him.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | September 23, 2019 2:19 AM |
My god, this guy on stage right now is so beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | September 23, 2019 2:19 AM |
No one wants to blow you. We know you're a frau. Go give your kids a bath or something.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | September 23, 2019 2:20 AM |
D&D lost, there is a god
by Anonymous | reply 143 | September 23, 2019 2:20 AM |
I'm living for the Cherrynaissance, to be honest.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | September 23, 2019 2:20 AM |
What is it with all these potty-mouths having to be bleeped tonight?
by Anonymous | reply 145 | September 23, 2019 2:21 AM |
The GOT writers lost. I'm happy.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | September 23, 2019 2:21 AM |
Is Dink the Midget the only acting winner for GOT ever? lol
by Anonymous | reply 147 | September 23, 2019 2:21 AM |
I'm going to guess
Best Comedy Series: Fleabag (Yay!)
Best Drama Series: Game of Thrones (Totally undeserved)
But Succession is not going to win this year, and if Killing Eve were going to get it, it would have gotten traction with the more minor awards.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | September 23, 2019 2:21 AM |
R145- anti-Trump stuff censored by FOX?
by Anonymous | reply 149 | September 23, 2019 2:21 AM |
The Succession writer is cute. I'm definitely feeling that. I'll watch his show.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
Yep r147.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
Perhaps he can write some blacks and gays into the show now that he has seen some in the audience and on the stage.... 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 152 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
Four fucking nominees from GoT in one category?
by Anonymous | reply 153 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
The superior Garner in Hollywood gets something the Bible cunt never could: an Emmy.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
Ooh, love that Dre’s!
by Anonymous | reply 155 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
Did all those GOT ladies cancel eachother out?
by Anonymous | reply 156 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
And Dinklage didn't deserve to win. It's like he got lazy with his performance the longer the show went on.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
WooHoo!! Succession won Benioff and Weiss.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
I have no idea who this is.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
“Our family knows first hand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves, telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted,” Kim said on stage, causing laughter to break out among the famous audience.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | September 23, 2019 2:22 AM |
She was great as Kimmy in The Americans
by Anonymous | reply 161 | September 23, 2019 2:23 AM |
Is Garner a surprise???
by Anonymous | reply 162 | September 23, 2019 2:23 AM |
Succession could definitely beat GoT.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | September 23, 2019 2:23 AM |
Aw, this girl is just 25. Good for her.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
Well, I guess I need to watch Fleabag, Succession and Ozark. I started watching Season 2 of Maisel and stopped but I guess I can start it up again.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
Nervous? HAH! This is show business, young lady!
by Anonymous | reply 166 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
Garner is simply amazing in Ozark.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
It's so sweet this little girl won--this is a real acceptance speech, not a cheap bid for laughs.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
R152 You have never been around the mega rich, have you?
by Anonymous | reply 169 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
I first saw her in Martha Marcy May Marlene... anyone remember that film?
by Anonymous | reply 170 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
Yes go Julia Garner!
by Anonymous | reply 171 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
25 is an adult even though she's up there sounding like a child.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | September 23, 2019 2:24 AM |
Garner is so gracious and cute
by Anonymous | reply 173 | September 23, 2019 2:25 AM |
CLEARLY Laura Linney has no interest in mentoring Garner.
Garner thanked Jason Bateman at the top and threw Laura in as an afterthought.
Is Laura Linney a jealous bitch?
by Anonymous | reply 174 | September 23, 2019 2:25 AM |
Garner was leading at Gold Derby but a lot of people were expecting Headey.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | September 23, 2019 2:25 AM |
She really was cute.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | September 23, 2019 2:25 AM |
r169 Ben Carson is black. Now go fuck off to the Succession thread.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | September 23, 2019 2:26 AM |
Kit and Emilia won't win in Lead so Dink goes down in history as the only acting winner on that shitshow.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | September 23, 2019 2:26 AM |
So her last name is pronounced “Heedee”? Huh.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | September 23, 2019 2:26 AM |
Did they remake Misery?
by Anonymous | reply 180 | September 23, 2019 2:26 AM |
Garner is very talented. She’s one to watch.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | September 23, 2019 2:26 AM |
I thought Headey would win but I also knew the GOT women would cancel each other out... too many.
Gwendoline shouldnt have been nominated
by Anonymous | reply 182 | September 23, 2019 2:26 AM |
I feel bad for Maisie and Lena. IMO they deserved to win something. Sophie and Gwen 's characters weren't that demanding in comparison.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | September 23, 2019 2:27 AM |
Headey would have won had they just written a good episode for her this season.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | September 23, 2019 2:27 AM |
It's tough when you have 15 leads on a show.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | September 23, 2019 2:27 AM |
Gwen deserved the nomination and had the most acclaimed scene in the final season. Turner’s nomination was the joke.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | September 23, 2019 2:27 AM |
by Anonymous | reply 187 | September 23, 2019 2:28 AM |
Never watched 911 but that tsunami looks GOOD.
by Anonymous | reply 188 | September 23, 2019 2:28 AM |
Chernobyl was robbed in the acting categories... glad to see it clean up writing/directing/series though.
by Anonymous | reply 189 | September 23, 2019 2:28 AM |
Headey spent most of this season drinking wine while standing on her balcony.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | September 23, 2019 2:28 AM |
It's hard to stand out when that many are nominated from the same show. That being said, I though they'd go for Maisie since she had that big moment with the Night King and that could emotionally have worked for them... but Gwendolyn clearly has tons of fans in that room, so she likely garnered votes...
Whatever the case, Garner had a passionate enough fanbase to best all of them. Congrats to her!
by Anonymous | reply 191 | September 23, 2019 2:28 AM |
Next year, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician will sweep all categories!
by Anonymous | reply 192 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Hooray, dead people!
by Anonymous | reply 193 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Headey would have won had they just written a good episode for her this season.
Headey couldn’t even win with her best material in season 5&6. The academy just didn’t like that character/performance.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Brenda Jankins!
by Anonymous | reply 195 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Regina King is a class act.
by Anonymous | reply 196 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Headey didn't have shit to do most of the season and was barely in it. But she did great with what she was given. Not enough for an award for this last season anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 197 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Headey literally did nothing in the final season. She wore the same expression throughout the series, actually. That scowl... she never did anything else.
by Anonymous | reply 198 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Well, I'm finally a part of the in memorium slideshow.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | September 23, 2019 2:29 AM |
Ugh Halsey's voice annoys the SHIT out of me!
by Anonymous | reply 200 | September 23, 2019 2:30 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 201 | September 23, 2019 2:30 AM |
This is lovely.
by Anonymous | reply 203 | September 23, 2019 2:30 AM |
Who's singing?
by Anonymous | reply 204 | September 23, 2019 2:31 AM |
Chernobyl was robbed in the acting categories... glad to see it clean up writing/directing/series though.
The acting on Chernobyl was powerful, but perhaps ultimately too understated to garner enough passionate votes. The acting on that show was incredible across the board. I wish that Jessie Buckley had also been nominated, especially considering how many nominees some of these categories have. Couldn't have thrown her a bone?
I'm happy for it though. The Emmys really respected the show. It really was one of the finest shows I've seen in quite some time.
by Anonymous | reply 205 | September 23, 2019 2:31 AM |
Oh look, Halsy has recycled Demi Moore's outfit from the Oscars long ago!
by Anonymous | reply 206 | September 23, 2019 2:31 AM |
Stop clapping, people!
by Anonymous | reply 207 | September 23, 2019 2:31 AM |
Halsey is singing
by Anonymous | reply 208 | September 23, 2019 2:32 AM |
They should have used a 90210 clip for Luke Perry.
by Anonymous | reply 209 | September 23, 2019 2:32 AM |
Well, THOSE are ugly tattoos.
by Anonymous | reply 210 | September 23, 2019 2:33 AM |
A really nice and appropriate cover by Halsey.
by Anonymous | reply 211 | September 23, 2019 2:33 AM |
Stan Lee got more applause than Valerie Harper. This clearly is not a Datalounge room.
by Anonymous | reply 212 | September 23, 2019 2:33 AM |
halsey is just ugly in general
by Anonymous | reply 213 | September 23, 2019 2:33 AM |
Why were neither Laverne nor Shirley nominated for Emmys? Was it just not that kind of show? Not beloved in its time? Not highbrow enough? What's the deal?
by Anonymous | reply 214 | September 23, 2019 2:33 AM |
Honestly... love this song. Forever reminds me of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. Respect.
by Anonymous | reply 215 | September 23, 2019 2:34 AM |
Surprised Carol Channing was last instead of Valerie Harper.
by Anonymous | reply 216 | September 23, 2019 2:34 AM |
Halsey didn't embarrass herself. She also didn't embarrass herself when she hosted SNL. I don't even really know who she is, but this is basically the only exposure of her that I've had. I also saw her in that BTS music video... but that was ultimately trivial.
by Anonymous | reply 217 | September 23, 2019 2:34 AM |
Laverne and Shirley was a hit but low brow comedy that critics nor voters took seriously
by Anonymous | reply 218 | September 23, 2019 2:35 AM |
Why were Gloria Vanderbilt and Nancy Wilson in the Emmy memorial?
by Anonymous | reply 219 | September 23, 2019 2:35 AM |
R216, or Penny Marshall.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | September 23, 2019 2:35 AM |
Dayum, alot of dead people
by Anonymous | reply 221 | September 23, 2019 2:35 AM |
r216, I think they were avoiding the usual practice of "Most Important Goes Last." Otherwise Valerie Harper or Doris Day would have gone last.
by Anonymous | reply 222 | September 23, 2019 2:35 AM |
I didn't know John Falsey died!
He was only 67 and one of the best writers in TV history: St. Elsewhere, A Year in the Life, Northern Exposure, I'll Fly Away.
I'm guessing "complications from a head injury suffered in a fall at his home" [in Iowa] is a euphemism for alcoholism?
by Anonymous | reply 223 | September 23, 2019 2:35 AM |
Nancy Wilson did lots of TV appearances.
by Anonymous | reply 224 | September 23, 2019 2:36 AM |
The folks at TMC need to give the Emmy & Oscar producers a tutorial on how to create a moving In Memoriam montage. The TMC ones are sooooooooo much more moving and poignant.
by Anonymous | reply 225 | September 23, 2019 2:36 AM |
That’s Halsey? Huh.
by Anonymous | reply 226 | September 23, 2019 2:37 AM |
Rip Torn!
by Anonymous | reply 227 | September 23, 2019 2:37 AM |
You know GoT may get shut out. Peter Dinklage was a respected actor in Indie films and stage work before Game of Thrones and he has a big following among actor types. So that may account for his popularity within the voting community. The other actors in GoT are not well known to the Academy. They don't have history the way Peter does.
by Anonymous | reply 228 | September 23, 2019 2:38 AM |
If GoT loses best series - do you think any of the cast or producers will care? they all seem to know they don't deserve it - which is good. It'll still win of course.

by Anonymous | reply 292 | September 23, 2019 2:48 AM |
The thing is GoT made a lot of money for HBO and it was a huge hit all over the world for 9 years. Its audience kept building and building. It is part of the culture. And for 90% of the time it sustained a very high standard as far as the acting and the production values, and even for the scripts. It made history in that way. So now that it's over, yes it deserves awards and recognition. I don't want to see it get shut out. I'm glad the writers lost, but I was hoping the rest might win. They didn't. I do think maybe there was a certain arrogance about the showrunners that turned a lot of industry people off. Dan & David Benioff don't seem like very nice eople .
by Anonymous | reply 293 | September 23, 2019 2:49 AM |
Gotta feel a little bad for Sandra. Claire Foy did this last year lol. I have heard nothing but great things about Jodie in this role, and if I'm not mistaken she's won major British awards for this role.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | September 23, 2019 2:49 AM |
YASSS! Second season of Killing Eve was legit a trainwreck, but Comer is still AMAZING.

by Anonymous | reply 297 | September 23, 2019 2:50 AM |
GOT isn’t the type of show that wins for acting. It’s wins come mostly from tech awards.
by Anonymous | reply 298 | September 23, 2019 2:50 AM |
I’m enjoying most of these wins.
by Anonymous | reply 299 | September 23, 2019 2:51 AM |
Yeah second season was not bad but didn't live up to season 1.
Did not expect Comer to win tonight. I feel bad for Sandra who has the tougher part in that series.
by Anonymous | reply 300 | September 23, 2019 2:51 AM |
What's left ? Which awards are we still waiting for?
by Anonymous | reply 301 | September 23, 2019 2:51 AM |
I'm glad Jodie Comer won, she's the reason I watch Killing Eve, not Sandra Oh.
by Anonymous | reply 302 | September 23, 2019 2:51 AM |
I low key did want Emilia Clarke to win. She’s lovely
by Anonymous | reply 303 | September 23, 2019 2:51 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 304 | September 23, 2019 2:52 AM |
As opposed to other weeks, r292?
by Anonymous | reply 305 | September 23, 2019 2:52 AM |
R302 we know. You keep making racist comments about Oh being Asian.
by Anonymous | reply 306 | September 23, 2019 2:52 AM |
The problem with Game of Thrones is that the cast is so huge, each character gets only about 3 minutes of airtime per episode. Especially during the earlier seasons. But as the show went on, and characters kept getting killed off, there was more screen time to go around (starting in Season 5). The actors are good enough, but their characters are written very one-note, almost like comic book characters.
by Anonymous | reply 307 | September 23, 2019 2:52 AM |
R301 I think just Comedy and Drama Series.
by Anonymous | reply 308 | September 23, 2019 2:52 AM |

how can such a shitty show have such great winners?

Not usually a fan of Emilia’s acting but she deserved a nod for making the shitty material for her character work.

VEEP will go into the HBO on demand vault. It won't be syndicated, it won't be beloved or remembered in five years. And it sucks when an actor wins six years in a row for basically the same performance show after show.

Love Julia, but kind of agree. I mean, look... nothing bad happened when she didn't win. Something unexpected, fun, and different happened! Something energizing. This could have happened at any moment in the past for Amy Poehler... jussayin'.

by Anonymous | reply 366 | September 23, 2019 3:01 AM |
What is it about awards shows on Fox? I just don't enjoy them. They always seem so cheap and disrespectful to the artists. Recorded DJ music rather than live performers ... Thomas Lennon's irreverent and irrelevant nonsense ... no host ... stupid "banter" at the beginning that gets dropped half-way through ... I could go on and on...
by Anonymous | reply 367 | September 23, 2019 3:01 AM |

Someone please correct me, but George R.R. Martin was on that stage tonight. He was the creator of Game of Thrones and for five seasons, 50 episodes or more, it was his direct involvement that navigated the success of the show. But I don't think I ever heard David Benioff or Dan Weiss acknowledge him. He may as well have been a grip on the crew. If they did not acknowledge him, then they are truly small, despicable people.
I saw Ian Glen on the stage and he looked damned good.
by Anonymous | reply 393 | September 23, 2019 3:09 AM |
Exactly R352. No one's saying that JLD sucks, just that no one's deserving of six emmys in a row. It's overkill.

r393 No, he wasn't involved past the third or the fourth season or something like that. He started distancing himself from the show pretty strongly in the later years.

I can’t wait for Milo to finally win. He’s so wonderful on This Is Us.
Although Sterling was wonderful on season 3. But it’s ridiculous he was nominated while the woman who plays his wife wasn’t when so much of his acting was reacting to her and vice versa in season 3.
by Anonymous | reply 400 | September 23, 2019 3:12 AM |
The last ep GRRM wrote was Joffrey’s wedding in early season four. No involvement after that.
by Anonymous | reply 401 | September 23, 2019 3:12 AM |
He wasn’t involved post season 3 I believe because they were straying too far from the source material

Milo shouldn’t have even been lead in season 3. His role was so much smaller than the previous two seasons minus a couple of episodes.
by Anonymous | reply 410 | September 23, 2019 3:57 AM |
R410 Maybe, he chose to submit in lead?
by Anonymous | reply 411 | September 23, 2019 4:02 AM |
the tough thing about Milo/Jack is that Jack's gone and there's only so much they can do to write backstory; I'm sure they'll write up something big.
I know Jack has his faults, but damn...it sucks when the father is taken away. The mother, too, of course...anyone really. Even great grandparents, but a father? a protector/teacher/friend/coach/parent/educator.... it's the worst. the absolute fucking worst.
by Anonymous | reply 412 | September 23, 2019 4:02 AM |
Why are Milo, Mandy and Sterling leads while Chrissy and Justin Supporting?
by Anonymous | reply 413 | September 23, 2019 4:03 AM |
Wanna know what’s weird, how out of all the actors on the show teenage Kevin gets the least work to do. They use teenage Kate and Randall a lot but Kevin hardly ever. He doesn’t even get enough screentime to be invited to the SAG awards. Last year Justin and his wife gave him his wife’s ticket so he can go with the rest of the cast because he was the only actor besides Randall’s kids to not have enough screen time to get an invite. And because of it when they win he doesn’t get an award like the rest do.
by Anonymous | reply 414 | September 23, 2019 4:07 AM |
GRANTED Logan Shroyer aka teen Kevin is the weakest link. He’s just pretty.
by Anonymous | reply 415 | September 23, 2019 4:08 AM |
R412 Based on the ending of season 3 of This is Us, I think they will have Jack appear as a ghost or hallucination to elderly Rebecca for several episodes before her death. But, the show has been renewed for three more seasons so who knows when Rebecca's death will ever be shown.
by Anonymous | reply 416 | September 23, 2019 4:09 AM |
Well her death is in the future. We have only seen Sterling, Beth and their one daughter in the future, and that Kevin has a kid, a full white child so he doesn’t end up with Beth’s cousin.
by Anonymous | reply 417 | September 23, 2019 4:12 AM |
Oh wait we did see her on her death bed in the future. Forgot. She looked scary. Miguel still looked good!
by Anonymous | reply 418 | September 23, 2019 4:12 AM |
R417 There are online theories that Kate dies before Rebecca. If the show goes down that route I could see the writers having Kate reunite with Jack in the afterlife.
by Anonymous | reply 419 | September 23, 2019 4:15 AM |
How are they gonna pump out 6 seasons to this story? They should cut it at 5.
by Anonymous | reply 420 | September 23, 2019 4:18 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 421 | September 23, 2019 4:19 AM |
Phoebe Tyler Wallingford was the big winner of the night. She's the new IT girl in town and can pretty much write her own ticket after tonight.
She's replaced Ryan Murphy as the most powerful person in TV at the moment.
by Anonymous | reply 422 | September 23, 2019 4:21 AM |
I don't know that she's replaced Ryan, but yeah, her next project is getting an easy greenlight, if it hasn't already. I know she took part in writing the upcoming Bond film. Excited to see what else she does next.
by Anonymous | reply 423 | September 23, 2019 4:25 AM |
R420 The writers will find ways to drag it out. I'm guessing they will do more flash foward storylines about the future of the family. If Kate isn't dead in the future, I'm betting there will be other tragedies like one of Randall's other daughters dies young or Kate's son ends up with health issues.
by Anonymous | reply 424 | September 23, 2019 4:25 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 438 | September 23, 2019 10:08 AM |
R437 to be fair, Madden might be due on set today for Eternals. Considering that most awards watchers thought he was a slam dunk for a nod, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was upset at not being nominated. If they brought him back as a ghost on GOT he probably would have been nominated 🤣
I forget who said it, but Susan Kelchi Watson who plays Beth to Sterling K Brown’s Randall should have been nominated but the Emmys were too busy trying to get everyone from GOT a nod...
by Anonymous | reply 439 | September 23, 2019 10:10 AM |
Susan Kelechi Watson 100% should have been nominated. Season 3 was her season to shine, and she did wonderfully. She was just as important as Randall this season, too. They even showed her backstory, finally.

by Anonymous | reply 475 | September 23, 2019 3:00 PM |
I think what happened is that the multiple nominations for the cast members may have cancelled out their chances to win. One thing I've always faulted the Emmys for is their predictability in always giving awards to the same people every year. So IMO that's what happened to Dinklage. Also he's well known beyond his role in Game of Thrones. But Julia Louis Dreyfus, Peter Dinklage and others need to make room for the newer people and programs. I'm glad Benioff and Weiss lost for their category, but I felt bad the Miguel Sapochnik and other Game of Thrones directors didn't win. Honestly I don't care how good Ozark is, Jason Bateman no way could have done what the Game of Thrones episode directors did. Excluding Weiss & Benioff. IMO Nicolaj Coster Waldau deserved an award more than anyone else in his category. But then, so did Alfie Allen. Maisie Williams deserved an award for Season 8, and really for her growth and nailing her character so consistently for 8 damned seasons. She was a 10 yr old kid when she started. Did a much better job that Isaac Hempstead White.
