OP, Latino/Hispanic men, like their Italian counterparts, are spoiled by their mamas, who dote on them, cook and clean for them, do their laundry, iron their shirts, etc., up until adulthood, and possibly even after he has married and moved out. They can do no wrong in their eyes, and slight infractions are chalked up to "boys being boys." In return, hijos worship their mamas as queens or saints. In this environment, Latino men grow up thinking that they are god's gifts to mankind.

Of course, these are generalizations and don't apply to all. But culturally, this is the norm throughout the Latin world.

The United States was very religious and homophobic, and still is in many areas, hence the MAGA Trump supporters, and the red states where they tend to live. Mexico has improved in regards to gay rights, and same-sex marriages are now legally performed in many of the Mexican states.
