Real hedge fund traders think it's likely that Epstein ran a sketchy, Madoff-type operation and that his money really did come from blackmail. Not rude blackmail, but tasteful, understated blackmail: he would compromise his friends and then "suggest" that they invest their money with him.

I remember reading speculation on the relationship between Wexner and Epstein years ago. Apparently Wexner fell out with Epstein even before he was first arrested, but he was worried about completely severing ties due to something Epstein supposedly had on him.

It could definitely have been blackmail of some kind as Wexner has long been rumoured to be gay.

Many of you were asking "why now?" in the last thread. The FOSTA / SESTA acts were signed in 2018. It is the reason backpage and craigslist personals were shut down. The government really wants to crackdown on prostitution, all under the guise of stopping sex trafficking. that's why that massage parlor in FL got raided recently as well. It is interesting that Trump would be behind this considering how many women he has probably paid for sex over the years. One wonders if he really did have a falling out with Epstein and wanted to fuck him.

I remember reading about a major blackmail scheme many years ago (so I don't recall the source) and am not sure if it's true, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is since it involves Epstein and blackmail. The article said that in the late 1980s Jeff Epstein was hired on by top-level investment bankers funded by a very small group of the wealthiest persons on Earth, some whom we've never heard of but are wealthy beyond the imagination, wealthier than the high-profile billionaires we know of) to blackmail every major world leader for decades, including powerful U.S. politicians. These specific surveillance cameras were undetectable and not available to the public. Epstein's crew initially set up a popular public relations side-show that was sure to attract every noble degenerate with all kinds of entertainment served. It was a sure way to own ALL 3 branches of US government. Again, don't know if this actually occurred but I remember that the source at the time when I read it in the late 90s was a reliable one and not an off-the-wall crazy conspiracy site.

by Anonymousreply 6July 12, 2019 9:23 PM

I have never heard of this site (Veterans Today) before and have no idea whether it is bunk or reliable or anywhere in between but it is interesting.

Was Melania Trafficked? Trump Hosted Party with Epstein and 29 Girls

Editor’s note: We have confirmed that Jeffrey Epstein owned a modeling agency where he brought girls in from Slovenia to be used to seduce and blackmail wealthy and powerful men, according to a new MSM story, on behalf of Israeli intelligence. We also know that it was Jeffrey Epstein that introduced Melania to Donald, something confirmed in the MSM story below. Are those things connected? (see more at link)

whoa R6, that's some heavy stuff. it's actually a pretty brilliant premise for a thriller. and it sounds right up Putin's alley. as for Trump: his head is spinning. he doesn't know what he doing, and certainly does not know why, most of the time. but the question would remain, why now? did Epstein get sloppy? was he too hot because of the Miami Herald coverage and arrest?

by Anonymousreply 8July 12, 2019 9:27 PM

It's BS that Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. It was already posted in the other thread. How they met was already detailed in a book.

by Anonymousreply 9July 12, 2019 9:33 PM

R8 meet r5.

by Anonymousreply 10July 12, 2019 9:35 PM

Surely if word got out that Epstein was a grifter and blackmailer, most billionaires would have gone out of their way to avoid him. Unless they were afraid of him, which means he probably wasn't working alone and was backed by powerful interests.

The Courtney Love connection: I remember her having a major meltdown about ten or so years ago, where she was reported as being obsessed that someone or some group had 'defrauded' her of most of her (i.e, Kurt Cobain's) money. She was relapsing on drugs around the same time and everyone just assumed she'd spent it all on crack and luxuries and was so addled and paranoid she'd forgotten about it, but after her Epstein connections came to light I have to wonder whether she might actually have been onto something.

by Anonymousreply 11July 12, 2019 9:38 PM

R6: Apparently Acosta was told to go easy on Epstein because he was "intelligence". So, could be true.

by Anonymousreply 12July 12, 2019 9:46 PM

So he's Intelligence means he's CIA?

by Anonymousreply 13July 12, 2019 9:53 PM

Yes r7 maybe she was trafficked even though these two liars keep going along with the bs story that they met at a NYC fashion show when they had already been together a number of times before going to that event and pretending in front of everyone (to make it seem real) that they had just met.

Also, bear in mind that Melania had no job and zero income. She didn't speak English well enough at the time to get a good job and she never actually made any money from modeling because she was never actually a model.

Anyone can say they are an actor but if they never played any actual role then they are not an actor, only in their fantasy. If they were never compensated for modeling then they are only a model in their own head, not a real model even if they have that glamorous model look and the height. The black and white photos of Melania are from her early portfolio which she paid a photographer to have done more than once. And she was also not compensated for the naked photo shoots and other post-Trump photos. Trump paid for them. She just looked like a model but was never really a model because she never received compensation for modeling. Trump paid for all of the photo shoots of her shortly after they married.

The point is that she must have been desperate for money and likely was an escort/hooker who came here to the US under suspicious circumstances. She did make good money off her jewelry line shortly after they married but that ended rather abruptly. Other than the short-lived jewelry line after they were married she has no proof of prior income since escort services/ prostitution, etc., are an unrecorded/unreported cash only business. How could she have afforded to live in NYC of all places?

All of this, including her past income / financial records from back then should be thoroughly investigated as well as that of the psychopath she is married to. More dark, ugly things about Trumps sordid past could easily surface if this were thoroughly investigated.

by Anonymousreply 14July 12, 2019 9:54 PM

What Courtney Love connection? Just because her name was in his phone book? He probably thinks she's ancient.

by Anonymousreply 15July 12, 2019 9:55 PM

R11 As I mentioned in my R6 post the article I read said JE was backed by powerful interests; a small group of the wealthiest people on the planet.

It also said that they control the government from behind the scenes. They knew JE was the man for the job and provided everything JE needed to make this global blackmail scheme happen, from the undetectable security cameras to the marketing / sales pitch, everything, the entire set-up, from A-Z.

R6 - Interesting. I've read similar ideas. Recently it was suggested (I can't recall where) that in the grander scheme of things in the world of the wealthy and powerful, Epstein's arrest is a distinct warning of some kind to certain people who are also members in the top tier levels of power and money. This idea might only be part of fringe conspiracy theory, but it's fascinating to speculate!

by Anonymousreply 36July 12, 2019 11:20 PM

The theories that Epstein or some other super-powerful billionaire are blackmailing the US government are bunk.

But the last 20 years, between the Catholic Church scandal, the rise of Fox News as pollution, the Russian influence stuff, the Panama Papers, Me Too, and now this—I cannot fault people for believing in these kind of “puppetmaster of the world” conspiracy theories. The more obviously justice is perverted, the less people trust our system of justice.

As for the media, they will keep covering this as long as it sells like hot cakes, which it always will.

by Anonymousreply 37July 12, 2019 11:21 PM

R33 I agree.

They want them to get the message or are sending a clear message to them.

In any case my post is information I read decades ago that seemed to ring true but as I mentioned is theory, speculation, that I did not claim to be factual because I do not personally know the source. I wish I could remember the website but it was way back in the late 90s. I used to read the articles on their site often and never got the impression they were embellishing, exaggerating or lying. As far as my R14 post I know that to be true or mostly true just from living in NYC. Word used to get around more back then than now.

by Anonymousreply 39July 12, 2019 11:29 PM

In the late 80s, Epstein was supposedly hired by wealthy investment bankers who were funded by a small group of people with unimaginable generational wealth, and who stay out of the spotlight. They hired him and they monitored his work. THEY have the goods, THEY supposedly have the evidence against world leaders including US politicians and high-profile figures for their evil blackmailing purposes. They paid Epstein to get it for them and they paid for the sales pitch/set up. They hired Epstein to do their dirty work. The article said that they use that information/evidence to control US politicians, world leaders, etc.

As I said I don't know if that theory I read decades ago is true but if it is I never said Epstein had blackmail evidence on powerful leaders. If that blackmail scheme story is true Epstein may possibly have had access to some of the blackmail evidence he obtained for them as part of the original agreement and arrangement, but he was hired to get it for them, not for himself.

R48, that's the plot of the Red Riding Quartet, more or less. Only instead of international, Pearce placed everything in Yorkshire.

More like Barr hires a pedophile because he is a pedophile. Epstein had enough smarts to cultivate rich people and to document their nasty sex habits.

Has this been covered here? I saw it on another website. Seems damning if true.

Kirkland & Ellis LLP Law Firm:

- Acosta worked there. - Brett Kavanaugh worked there. - William Barr worked there. - John Bolton worked there. - They defended Epstein and got him off.

And Kirkland and Ellis represents Alfa Bank which was the bank pinging the DeVoss and Trump Tower servers, and also Semion Mogilevich’s plaything. Mob mob mob. K and E also represent the Russian mob.

Mark Filip, DAG who signed off on the Epstein non-prosecution agreement works there now.

by Anonymousreply 60July 13, 2019 4:02 AM

Everything is pretty clear. I'm surprised that no one is connecting the dots. It's hard not to see the forest for the trees. There are all types of modeling agencies in New York. Some are legit, some are trying to take financial advantage of want-to-be models and more than a handful are fronts for high class prostitution. Of course, Melania was an eastern European hooker, escort, brought to the US under the guise of a modeling contract. She was brought here to meet wealthy Americans. Trump Model Management did this exact same thing. YOUNG European girls brought to the US and lots of nude photoshoots. Our first lady even has some nude photos circulating. Few actually became models but they all attended parties to mingle with people who could make their careers. Melania happened to be registered with another agency when she met Trump but its all part of the same world. Trump and Melania and Epstein were all part of it. Sex trafficking, money laundering, gambling are all part of this world and Trump was right in the middle. This sex thing with underage girls is what is going to bring this presidency down. It's hard to put a spin on the legitimacy of raping a 14 year old girl.

by Anonymousreply 61July 13, 2019 4:50 AM

It's a bit like the Millionaire Matchmaker - although they cleaned Patti Stanger up a bit for TV and made the premise presentable. Lots of young girls want to marry a millionaire.

by Anonymousreply 62July 13, 2019 4:54 AM

Please insert a few facts with theory please. What year did Melania come to the USA? and What year did she meet Trump. From reading reports years ago, she was married to another man before Trump...green card marriage possibly.

Of course Melania is a whore. Most models are. They marry the richest "John" they can.

by Anonymousreply 63July 13, 2019 4:56 AM

How was this guy walking around free for a decade? And why suddenly is he being brought to justice?

by Anonymousreply 64July 13, 2019 5:01 AM

New book “The Method to the Madness: Donald Trump’s Ascent as Told by Those Who Were Hired, Fired, Inspired — and Inaugurated” by Allen Salkin and Aaron Short includes an account from Italian entrepreneur Paolo Zampolli that he introduced Donald Trump to Melania during a fashion party.

After the New York Times reported this week that Jeffrey Epstein claimed to have introduced the Donald to Melania, the authors reached out to Zampolli, an envoy to the UN for Dominca, to see if Epstein had attended the fashion bash.

Zampolli’s response, in red capital letters, was “NO WAY.”

He called the idea that Epstein had introduced them “fake news. B S.”

Melania has said she met Trump at the Kit Kat Club during New York Fashion Week in 1998. Trump called accused pedophile Epstein a “terrific guy” in New York Magazine in 2002, but said this week at the White House, “I had a falling out with him. I haven’t spoken to him in 15 years. I was not a fan of his.”

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 65July 13, 2019 5:02 AM

Paolo Zampolli was supposedly Melania's agent at the time of their meeting in 1998. I read that they actually met in 1996. This was the year of her nude lesbian photoshoot and the photographer claims that she was Trump's girl friend at the time. Problem with this story is that Trump was still married to Marla Maples at the time. I personally think the Trump/Melania meeting story at the Kit Kat Klub is made up or at least white washed. Interesting the Zampolli immediately jumped on the story when rumours were surfacing that Epstein introduced the two of them. Zampolli looks to be a bit shady as well.

In 1976, Epstein joined Bear as a floor trader’s assistant, making partner in a mere four years. By 1981, he was out, setting up the J. Epstein & Co. money-management business the next year. New York described his business strategy in 2002:

He would take total control of the billion dollars, charge a flat fee, and assume power of attorney to do whatever he thought was necessary to advance his client’s financial cause. And he remained true to the $1 billion entry fee. According to people who know him, if you were worth $700 million and felt the need for the services of Epstein and Co., you would receive a not-so-polite no-thank-you from Epstein.

In Vicky Ward’s recent process piece on her reporting of an Epstein profile for Vanity Fair in 2003, she lays out some of her thoughts on the matter of a possible benefactor. In addition to a claim from a Ponzi schemer that Epstein was kicked out of Bear Stearns in 1981 for “getting into trouble,” Ward suggests that Wexner may have helped bankroll the financier. Ward writes: “While Epstein’s friends speculated that retailer Les Wexner was the real source of Epstein’s wealth, Wexner (who called him ‘my friend Jeffrey’) never commented on this, though he did send me an email praising Epstein’s ‘ability to see patterns in politics and financial markets.’”

According to his lawyers, around the time of his notorious plea deal in Florida in 2008, Epstein’s net worth was over nine figures. The figure was “a bone of contention with Epstein’s lawyers,” Spencer Kuvin, an attorney representing three of Epstein’s alleged victims, told the Palm Beach Post in 2008. “In the litigation itself we were never able to get him to produce verified financial information. The ‘nine figures’ came by negotiation. It kept going up and up and up. They started at zero — they wouldn’t tell us at all.”

As Bloomberg states, “Today, so little is known about Epstein’s current business or clients that the only things that can be valued with any certainty are his properties.” According to a document submitted in advance of Epstein’s bail hearing, his Manhattan townhouse is estimated to be worth around $77 million. Then there are the properties in New Mexico, Paris, the U.S. Virgin Islands, his private jet, a fleet of 15 cars, and a Palm Beach compound estimated at $12 million.

But even the real-estate holdings have an air of mystery to them. Epstein purchased, or received, the Manhattan townhouse from Wexner around 1998. But there were no property records on the mansion’s transfer until 2011, when the company Wexner used to buy the place transferred it to an Epstein-owned company for $0. Epstein signed the document for both sides.

by Anonymousreply 69July 13, 2019 5:16 AM

Financial Conspiracy Theory #1: Ponzi scheme

A Ponzi scheme has been floated as a possible source of Epstein’s wealth since as early as 2009, when Business Insider noted that multiple red flags pointed to a possible Madoff-like fraud. The secrecy of his client list; the “administrative” nature of all 150 of his employees in 2002; the absolute control over investors’ money, and the $1 billion basement investment required — all signs could point to Ponzi, although there’s no concrete evidence. In the story, finance writer John Carney raised a vital question, considering Epstein’s (limited) time in jail during the 2008 financial crisis: “How could Epstein’s one-man show not fall apart while he was in jail during one of the most volatile years in history?”

In addition, one of his early employers in finance, Steve Hoffenberg, was convicted of running one of the largest pre-Madoff Ponzi schemes in U.S. history. According to journalist Vicky Ward, Hoffenberg brought on Epstein in 1981 after he left Bear Stearns. “He has a way of getting under your skin,” he told Ward. Hoffenberg paid Epstein $25,000 per month for his work as a consultant for Towers Financial, though Epstein had left well before Hoffenberg pleaded guilty in 1994 to defrauding investors to the tune of $450 million. For years, it appeared Epstein had no exposure in the Towers Financial case, until 2018, when shareholders filed a putative class action suit against him for his alleged role in the Ponzi scheme. In a separate New York state case in 2018, Hoffenberg reportedly detailed Epstein’s alleged involvement in the scam.

by Anonymousreply 70July 13, 2019 5:17 AM

Epstein and Jacko are so much alike when it comes to witness tampering and intimidation. This must be a rich pedo thing. Deplorable.

by Anonymousreply 71July 13, 2019 5:20 AM

Theory #2: Blackmail And in a 2015 court filing, alleged Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre claims that U.S. authorities were in possession of footage of her having sex with members of Epstein’s elite friend group. “Based on my knowledge of Epstein and his organization, as well as discussions with the FBI, it is my belief that federal prosecutors likely possess videotapes and photographic images of me as an underage girl having sex with Epstein and some of his powerful friends,” she said. Giuffre claimed that Epstein “debriefed her” after she was forced into sexual encounters so that he could possess “intimate and potentially embarrassing information” to blackmail friends into parking their money with him.

by Anonymousreply 72July 13, 2019 5:20 AM

Theory #3: Epstein “Belonged to Intelligence”

One of the more mysterious quotes of this whole conspiracy-adjacent mess comes from Alexander Acosta, the current Labor secretary, who arranged for Epstein to get off with just a wrist-slap in 2007, when he was a U.S. attorney. According to Vicky Ward, when Acosta was being interviewed for the Labor secretary job, he was asked if his involvement in the Epstein case would be a problem during his confirmation hearings.

Acosta had explained, breezily, apparently, that back in the day he’d had just one meeting on the Epstein case. He’d cut the non-prosecution deal with one of Epstein’s attorneys because he had “been told” to back off, that Epstein was above his pay grade. “I was told Epstein ‘belonged to intelligence’ and to leave it alone,” he told his interviewers …

Whether that’s the American intelligence community, the greater point-one-percent brain trust, or just a garbage excuse, the answer was good enough for the Trump administration to go forward with Acosta’s nomination.

by Anonymousreply 73July 13, 2019 5:21 AM

Theory #4: Offshore Tax Schemes / Money Laundering

Because Epstein’s wealth is held offshore and is shrouded in mystery, some speculate that he may have made his money in tax schemes or money laundering. According to a well-developed, if factually void, pan-conspiracist take from finance Twitter’s Quantian, Epstein could have blackmailed his social circle into investing with him, then dumped the cash in an offshore account to avoid taxes. Or, similar to the Ponzi scheme conspiracy — and, again, without basis in fact — there is so little paperwork on the funds that the whole thing could just be a rig for money laundering.

What could the coming investigation reveal?

Because so little is known about Epstein’s wealth and his ambiguous-to-the-point-of-suspicious Financial Trust Company, pretty much any revelation would help shed light on the financial black hole. But because the Southern District of New York’s Public Corruption Unit is handling the case, the likelihood of a financial or tax-related charge is much higher than if another arm of the mother court were in charge. Gene Rossi, a trial analyst for Law & Crime, suggested that the PCU could provide more flexibility on charges, including money laundering, corruption, or tax-related crimes: “The sky’s the limit.”

by Anonymousreply 74July 13, 2019 5:22 AM

by Anonymousreply 75July 13, 2019 5:28 AM

Interesting article about Hawking's trip.

Could he have been an innocent victim in this scandal? Perhaps Epstein invited him as a sick joke, where he was forced to watch (and couldn't escape) the orgies.

I saw an odd post by Virginia Heffernan on Twitter. She said that William Barr's father wrote a book about sex trafficking in space, after he hired Epstein to teach in the early 70s. You can't make this up.

Because he wasn't really in jail; he was let out six days a week to work at his office or do whatever.

Since this story broke I've been curious to read Barr Sr's sci fi novels—or at least hear people's summaries and impressions of them. The one at R78 sounds spicy and twisted, esp coming from the conservative anti-hippie Headmaster Barr. Juxtapose those literary instincts with his and Barr Jr's bizarre love of playing the bagpipes and we got ourselves a couple of live ones.

R81 Not surprisingly...

[quote]His exploration of slavery is neither sensitive nor telling. Despite repeatedly and officiously informing the reader that slavery is wrong at every turn (go figure), Barr creates two openly "superior" characters as his leads. Craig and Morgan freely kill, torture, seduce and make sweeping political decisions on behalf of thousands of people - but this is acceptable, because they're somehow imbued with "natural heroism". Slavery and oppression are wrong, unless you're someone as wise and talented as Craig or Morgan, in which you're perfectly justified in forcing decisions on other people.

by Anonymousreply 86July 13, 2019 3:22 PM

As for blackmail, Epstein could have patiently videotaped encounters with many wealthy "guests" over a period of a year or more. Once he had incriminating evidence on multiple people, he could then spring the trap and demand $. He could negotiate regular ongoing payments in perpetuity, perhaps netting him millions per year. All of the "guests" would know they were in the same boat, but there wasn't anything they could do except keep paying.

In part because it is replete with occult imagery, like a pyramid-faced mask (oozing the same Illuminati energy as the dollar bill), Eyes Wide Shut is subject to the same kind of analysis that lead people to conclude Kubrick faked the moon landing, then revealed his deception to the world on Danny Torrance's sweater in The Shining.

Basic question: Why did Alex Acosta let Jeffrey Epstein off the hook?

Everybody and his brother knows the no prosecution deal stank to high heaven. That’s why it was suppressed.

Acosta was too much of a nobody to have been a part of JE’s posh party and blackmail set.

Still, Acosta was Princeton / Harvard Law. Certainly smart enough not to be cowed by fast talking reps.

The idea that Epstein was protected by the US’s or Israel’s intelligence community even “sounds” like a smokescreen.

I keep coming back to that early morning hotel breakfast where the deal was consummated outside of the confines of the US Attorneys Office.

Yes good reputation can be bought and manufactured for him to have his place in high society. It's utterly disheartening and despicable that money can buy almost everything: justice, witnesses, the media, the prosecutors, elite friends, underage girls, etc.

Jeffrey Epstein Was a Sex Offender. The Powerful Welcomed Him Anyway.

A strange thing happened when Jeffrey Epstein came back to New York City after being branded a sex offender: His reputation appeared to rise.

In 2010, the year after he got out of a Florida prison, Katie Couric and George Stephanopoulos dined at his Manhattan mansion with a British royal. The next year, Mr. Epstein was photographed at a “billionaire’s dinner” attended by tech titans like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. A page popped up on Harvard University’s website lauding his accomplishments, and superlative-filled news releases described his lofty ambitions as he dedicated $10 million to charitable causes.

Powerful female friends served as social guarantors: Peggy Siegal, a gatekeeper for A-list events, included him in movie screenings, and Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin, a champion of women’s health, maintained a friendship that some felt gave him credibility. Mr. Epstein put up a website showing Stephen Hawking and other luminaries at a science gathering he had organized.

“If you looked up Jeffrey Epstein online in 2012, you would see what we all saw,” Leon Botstein, the president of Bard College, said in an interview. He seemed “like an ex-con who had done well on Wall Street,” who was close to the Clintons and gave money to academic pursuits, Dr. Botstein said. That was why, he noted, Bard accepted an unsolicited $50,000 in 2011 for its high schools, followed later that year and in 2012 by another $75,000 in donations. Sign Up for Summer in the City

The best things to do in N.Y.C. during the hottest season of the year. This limited-edition newsletter will launch before Memorial Day and run through Labor Day.

Over a decade ago, when Mr. Epstein was very publicly accused of sexually abusing girls as young as 14, he minimized the legal consequences with high-powered lawyers, monetary settlements that silenced complaints, and a plea deal that short-circuited an F.B.I. investigation and led to the resignation announcement on Friday of a Trump cabinet official who had overseen the case as a prosecutor. Socially, Mr. Epstein carried out a parallel effort, trying to preserve his reputation as a financier, philanthropist and thinker.

Some of the respect Mr. Epstein, 66, drew on was manufactured, the accomplishments recycled. The gathering with Dr. Hawking had taken place back in 2006. The positive online notices appeared to have been paid for by Mr. Epstein: A writer employed by his foundation churned out the news releases, and Drew Hendricks, the supposed author of a Forbes story calling Mr. Epstein “one of the largest backers of cutting edge science,” conceded in an interview that he was given $600 to post the pre-written article under his own name. (Forbes removed the piece after The New York Times published its article.)

In 2004, Elisabetta Tai was a 21-year-old Italian model with big dreams.

A month after arriving in Manhattan, her booker gave her an Upper East Side address and told her he had set up a meeting with the man who would be able to get her a gig modeling for the Victoria’s Secret catalog.

“He told me this is one of the most important people in modeling,” Tai told The Post. “He said that this man is in charge of Victoria’s Secret and he’s going to change your life.”

Jeffrey Epstein did end up changing Tai’s life — but not in the way she expected, she said.

Epstein, 66, a convicted pedophile, was arrested last week for sexually abusing “dozens” of minor girls at his Upper East Side mansion and his residence in Palm Beach, Fla. The arrest stems from incidents between 2002 and 2005.

“I rang the doorbell of this incredible mansion, and a butler answered the door,” said Tai, who hails from Padova, a small town near Venice. “It was astonishing. It was a very beautiful house, and I saw about five models walking around as soon as I walked in. I was so excited.”

Tai said she was greeted by a woman with “short black hair” who showed her into Epstein’s office. She doesn’t remember the woman’s name, although when The Post showed her a photograph of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s gal pal, she confirmed that she looked like the same woman who met her at Epstein’s mansion.

The British socialite, a daughter of media mogul Robert Maxwell, has not been charged with a crime but has been accused by three women in court papers of recruiting young women for Epstein. Two of them alleged that both Maxwell and Epstein sexually assaulted them.

Epstein, a financier, was close friends with Ohio billionaire Leslie Wexner, who owned Limited Brands — now L Brands — the parent company of Victoria’s Secret. Wexner was so close to Epstein that both men shared ownership of the sprawling East 71st Street mansion where Tai went for the meeting. The deed was transferred in 2011 to Epstein’s Virgin Islands LLC.

The woman with the short hair introduced Tai to Epstein, who was dressed casually in a shirt and jeans, she said. As Epstein started to ask her questions about her background, she noticed a massage table near his desk.

She said she didn’t think anything of it, and reached for her portfolio to show Epstein her previous modeling work in Italy. Tai had done a few modeling jobs in her native country, “but nothing big, nothing like I imagined I could do in America,” she told The Post.

As Tai talked about her experience in halting English, she said Epstein moved to the massage table and began to remove his clothes.

“I thought he was preparing to have a massage, and that someone was about to come in to the room and give him a massage,” she said.

But Tai said she panicked when Epstein lay down naked on the table and told her to approach.

He then handed her a vibrator, she said.

“I froze,” she said. “I didn’t know what to do.

“I just grabbed the vibrator and threw it at his head,” she said.

“I mean, I don’t know where it landed, I just blacked out and then I ran as fast as I could out of the room.”

She was so frightened she didn’t know where to turn to find the front door in the massive house. At one point she said she encountered the woman with the short black hair, who grabbed her and asked her what she was doing.

“She told me that I couldn’t just leave,” said Tai. “She said that this man is important, that he is a friend of President Clinton.”

Tai never told her booker what had happened at Epstein’s mansion.

“I was too scared to tell anyone,” she said. “I was too shy and scared that someone would come after me to blackmail me or maybe worse.”

Epstein, who was an investor in a Manhattan modeling venture, has been accused by prosecutors of using his connections to the modeling company to “audition” girls to give him massages that often ended up in sexual abuse.

“Over the years, it seems Epstein relied on …[the] modeling business to source underage girls for sex,” writes Conchita Sarnoff, an investigative reporter, in her book “Trafficking.”

A former Manhattan-based model agent, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, also alleged an Epstein-Victoria’s Secret pimp pipeline.

“He [Epstein] portrayed himself as the back door to get a girl into Victoria’s Secret. Some of those girls got in,” he said.

He promised the catalog and ad-campaign jobs, not the supermodel fashion-show gigs, he added.

“It was still significant cash for a young model doing the catalog,” said the agent. “They weren’t making hundreds of thousands but they could make about $5,000 a week modeling for the campaigns or the catalog. Not all the girls sent to him got jobs, but a lot of them did.”

Another Manhattan model entrepreneur told The Post that Maxwell was a constant fixture at Victoria’s Secret events.

Around 2,000 files from a defamation case involving alleged trafficking victim Virgina Roberts are now due to be released following a US Court of Appeal ruling, The Sunday Times reports.

Roberts, now 35, claimed in 2015 she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew by Epstein in London, New York and the Caribbean.

The mum-of-three accused Epstein of recruiting her as a "sex slave" - and said she had been "procured for sexual activities" by Ghislane Maxwell, a personal aide to the financier.

The Duke of York was pictured with his arm around her waist at Maxwell's home in London in 2001 when she was aged 17 but has strongly denied the claims.

A judge also threw the accusations against Andrew out because they were "immaterial and impertinent" to Epstein's case.

Roberts then successfully sued Maxwell for defamation after she branded her a "liar" and the documents were sealed following a legal argument.

But the ruling earlier this month at the US Court of Appeal heard how public's right to know outweighed the privacy rights of people who wanted to keep secrets.

That snap was taken during Andrew’s four-day stay at Epstein’s $77m mansion in Manhattan – shortly after the banker had been freed from prison after a previous child sex trafficking conviction in Florida.

It has also emerged he holidayed with Epstein in Thailand in 2001 and invited him to stay at Windsor Castle and the Queen’s Sandringham estate.

[quoet]“The truth is that Ms. Maxwell and Mr. Epstein sexually trafficked [Giuffre] to their well-connected friends, both in this country and elsewhere,” Giuffre attorneys Paul Cassell and Sigrid McCawley wrote. Unfortunately, critical documents and transcripts proving the truth of Ms. Giuffre's allegations remain sealed in the vault of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. It is time for the truth to come out.”

I remember reading Virginia Roberts Giuffre's appalling affadavit. She was kept as a sex slave and the way she escaped is equally remarkable. The truth needs to come out. It's on Acosta that Epstein was allowed to continue committing his execrable crimes for another 10+ more years.

by Anonymousreply 164July 14, 2019 9:12 PM

For details of Epstein's status at Bear Stearns try to find the most recent Trumpcast podcast where Virginia Heffernan interviews Vicky Ward, the writer of the 2003 (?) piece for Vanity Fair that was censored by Graydon Carter. IIRC she said Epstein never had a trader's license and there is NO footprint of any of his Wall Street dealings. He was NOT a hedge fund manager. Ace Greenberg, then CEO, had a kid at Dalton School (run by AG Barr's father Donald Barr--there is a lot of stuff about him in the Epstein threads here). Anyway, find that Trumpcast from the last few days if you want to know the truth about Epstein's financial status (although a lot of his has been covered up Vicky Ward says).

Aside from the other already mentioned reasons Acosta went so light on JE for such a heinous crime, I think JE also had something on Acosta and was using it to blackmail him. As I mentioned way upthread, IMO, Acosta is a pedophile, but that he prefers boys. I stand by my opinion that he's another Sandusky. Maybe he didn't have nearly as many victims as Sandusky but that doesn't matter. I still think Acosta is a pedophile who has molested male children.

My honest opinion even though no males have come forward -- at least not that we know of as they could have been paid off. Maybe JE is hanging that over his head, and along with powerful people above his pay grade who had the final say, Acosta practically let JE go free for crimes that a life sentence/imprisonment would have been the right thing to do -- or the death penalty. JMO.

by Anonymousreply 166July 14, 2019 9:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 168July 14, 2019 9:50 PM

We don't know if that's a rumor or an exaggeration or a fact. If it's true that's not why he became a pedophile because its not a decision -- actually he's a hebephile. Both are equally as perverted and dangerous.

by Anonymousreply 177July 14, 2019 10:42 PM

R171 - I am not 160 but I think you were replying to me. Anyway, no, I meant 'pedophilia the disorder' is not a decision.

The best explanation was on the previous thread; something happens to their brain before birth so they are born that way or they are born with a predisposition and then something triggers the disorder.

I just meant people don't decide, meaning make a conscious decision, to become a pedophile. But pedophiles do decide that they will inappropriately touch a child and they choose their victims wisely. They don't think of it as harming/traumatizing or sexually abusing the child because they have no empathy, hence "inappropriately touch."

As I already said in my R169 post, technically JE is a hebephile not a pedophile. But I also mentioned pedophiles and hebephiles are equally as screwed up and dangerous.

R180 Tweens and teens are still children. No parent refers to their tween child or teenager/adolescent as "our adult child." I didn't know JE made that comment but it sure doesn't surprise me. He says a lot of stupid things to make himself appear less guilty. It's hard to keep up with all of his crazy downplaying. It doesn't matter. They were underage. They were children at the time.

Not only were they not old enough to make these decisions, they were forced against their will. So not only were they girls, not women, and underage girls at that, they were not consenting. Even if they did consent, which they did not, they were innocent girls who weren't old enough to make these decisions and were clearly forced, taken advantage of and exploited. Of course he's going to downplay the truth. Coming from him its no surprise. I just can't believe the way the media is also downplaying and spinning the truth with misleading statements, such as, "He allegedly had sex with these women."

If one were referring to a 14 or 15 year old no one would say "A 14 year old woman." Its ridiculous. I wouldn't call a 17 year old a woman/man. The media is doing their usual spinning and reporting "he allegedly had sex with these women" when the fact is that he 'raped children.' Two different things. Sex - rape -- two different things. Girl - woman -- not the same.

[R187] Men that like young girls come up with all kinds of rationalizations. This Epstein thing is reminding me of a roommate I had in my 20’s. He was a bit older than me. He wanted fifteen year olds and would say how some girls that age are “very mature.” We would argue about it, but I didn’t think about it much at the time because he didn’t bring anyone home with him. I couldn’t tell if it was fantasy or reality. I don’t think it’s that uncommon. Men will say they like twenty year olds, but they really want five or six years younger, ideally.

by Anonymousreply 190July 15, 2019 12:29 AM

Knew of at least 2 men 60+ who claimed to have had sex with 9-year-old girls. Always they talked about how much the little girls wanted them sexually, and how they'd even been seduced. This was before the age of the internet.

Both men had been sexually abused as children although that's definitely no excuse for their rotten behavior.

A side question on the comparisons to Eyes Wide Shut. If I remember right, the decadent orgy scene there was all about consenting adult prostitutes cavorting with powerful men; and it's never made clear that the woman who subsequently died was killed in retaliation for helping Tom Cruise, rather than dying of another overdose. Fairly tame stuff despite the dark hints by Sydney Pollack. The sick stuff—child trafficking and so on—was actually all being hinted at in the periphery, in Tom Cruise's everyday life, not as part of the rich guys' private party.

by Anonymousreply 227July 15, 2019 3:05 PM

Jeffrey Epstein will have to cool his heels at least a little longer in jail — as Manhattan prosecutors revealed Monday that more alleged victims have already stepped forward since his arrest earlier this month.

“The evidence is already significantly stronger — and getting stronger every day,” Assistant US Attorney Alex Rossmiller told Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman.

Epstein, already a convicted pedophile, had hoped the jurist would rule in his favor on his bail request in his latest case Monday.

But Berman said he wants to hear from some of Epstein’s victims — as soon as Monday — and have the former hedge-fund manager’s financials looked over further before deciding on whether to free him until his trial.

The judge said he plans to rule on bail Thursday.

Federal prosecutors, in arguing that the 66-year-old pervert should stay at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, said they have had more of his victims come forward to report crimes since his arrest.

The feds found dozens of diamonds, piles of cash and a fake passport from Saudi Arabia with a photo that looks like Jeffrey Epstein stashed in a safe at the convicted pedophile’s Upper East Side townhouse, they said Monday.

Prosecutors told a Manhattan federal judge about the newly revealed contents of the safe — which also held a trove of lewd photos of young women — as they argued against giving Epstein bail at least partly because of his immense financial means.

Assistant US Attorney Alex Rossmiller called the accused sex trafficker’s financial disclosure form for bail “cursory,” noting that it failed to mention the “piles of cash, dozens of diamonds” in his now-notorious home safe.

“The defendant’s financial disclosure should alarm the court,” Rossmiller said.

In addition to lots more dough and valuable items including art that hadn’t been accounted for, prosecutors said, investigators discovered an expired phony passport in Epstein’s mansion that was supposedly issued in the 1980s. It had a name other than Epstein’s on it — but what looks like his photo, they said.

Rossmiller also noted that Epstein has more than $100 million alone in a single account — among at least $500 million in holdings. The suspect has already used hundreds of thousands of dollars to try to bribe potential witnesses to keep their mouths shut about his crimes, prosecutors have said.

Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman agreed Monday that Epstein’s one-page financial affidavit was “cursory” as he delayed a decision on whether to grant the suspect bail until Thursday.

At the center of Jeffrey Epstein's secluded New Mexico ranch sits a sprawling residence the financier built decades ago — complete with plans for a 4,000-square-foot (372-square-meter) courtyard, a living room roughly the size of the average American home and a nearby private airplane runway.

Known as the Zorro Ranch, the high-desert property is now tied to an investigation that the state attorney general's office says it has opened into Epstein with plans to forward findings to federal authorities in New York.

Epstein, who pleaded not guilty this week to federal sex trafficking charges in New York, has not faced criminal charges in New Mexico. But the scandal surrounding him has still sent a jolt through the rural southwestern state as it comes under scrutiny for laws that allowed him to avoid registering as a sex offender following a guilty plea a decade ago in Florida.

“New Mexico continues to lag behind the rest of the country in strengthening outdated and weak laws that fail to protect our children from abuse," New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas said in an emailed statement to The Associated Press. "This is a huge black eye for our state."

In New Mexico, the attorney general said he has been in touch with the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York. Balderas' office has not said, however, how many accusers his office has interviewed and he has not elaborated on what they say took place at the ranch.

In a 2015 court filing in Florida, a plaintiff in a lawsuit against Epstein said she had been abused at several locations, including the New Mexico property.

Records show Epstein purchased the ranch, valued by county officials at over $12 million, from the family of former Gov. Bruce King, who died 10 years ago. A 1995 Santa Fe New Mexican story about his plans to build a mansion on the property said the home would be 26,700 square feet (2,480 square meters) with a 2,100-square-foot (195-square-meter) living room.

Aerial images of the property show an airplane hangar and landing strip. Closer to the east edge of the property, several structures that appear to serve as small homes and stables stand in public view.

The King family still owns land surrounding much of Epstein's ranch near the town of Stanley, a rural outpost on the plains that stretch east of the Sandia Mountains.

Gary King, the son of the former governor, was the state attorney general from 2007 to 2015, and was among a handful of candidates in the state who returned Epstein campaign donations.

Former Gov. Bill Richardson donated $50,000 in 2006 gubernatorial campaign contributions from Epstein to charity.

Two of Jeffrey Epstein's accusers finally got their day in court on Monday when they spoke at the convicted pedophile's bail hearing in New York.

Courtney Wild and Annie Farmer both detailed how they continue to struggle more than a decade after Epstein allegedly forced the two to perform rape acts on him or themselves when they were underage.

Epstein made no comments as the women delivered their remarks, and instead stared them down the entire time with a stern look on his face.

The billionaire pedophile, 66, will now learn on Thursday whether he will be released ahead of his trial on federal sex trafficking charges or ordered to remain behind bars.

R221, I wasn’t the poster referring to “magick” but I absolutely am questioning how big this story may be, you *cunt*.

I have kept abreast of this shitfest since 2015, and I knew Russia hacked us before it was a widespread belief amongst us, just from lots of reading And I am the polar opposite of a tinhat — I’m as skeptical, pragmatic, and Plain Jane as it gets. I’m a slice of rye bread — dry as shit. Having said that, this story does indeed have real legs, and could indeed be the biggest political bombshell in our lifetimes. Will it for sure? Who the fuck knows? But clearly Kubrick had partied and walked amongst this crew, and clearly, their “world” exists. As another poster so astutely stated, the rich are quite bored.

Time will tell, we hope, and yet the media is being quite skewed on this story, the corruption so thick, we really may never know everything. But that’s the fun of a place like this, we can bat ideas around and share sources & ideas — sometimes enough buzz forces the media to do its job. If you would have told me three years ago that we would have a pussy-grabbing Nazi in the WH, I would have called you D.R. too. It’s a thin line between imagination and insanity toots.

by Anonymousreply 267July 16, 2019 12:45 AM

R255 I agree. See the last paragraph of my R187 post.

I think anyone in the media who refers to them as women instead of saying they were girls at the time these crimes occurred, are downplaying and marginalizing his sex crimes against children and I will not be watching them. I have heard this on MSNBC -- it's not just Fox doing this.

We should start naming names here every time one of these talking head assholes refers to them as women or states that Epstein had sex with these women when he raped girls, and at the time it was not a case of "had sex with women." It's as misleading and stupid as saying "underage women."

Like a Freudian slip that is a dead-giveaway to how they *really* feel about this and it also tells you whose side they are really on. I am going to start naming names and shaming, whether they say it aloud or in print.

^ Anyone who is outraged, disgusted and disturbed by this refers to the victims as girls. But those who think maybe they played some role in the crimes committed against them refer to them as women and report that he allegedly had sex with these women, avoiding the word rape because they are on Epstein's side.

by Anonymousreply 270July 16, 2019 1:07 AM

The weird thing is that Vicky Ward, the writer who has been championing the victims in the media lately and wrote the original Vanity Fair article in 2003 or whenever, referred to them as women in her interview on Trumpcast. Maybe because now they ARE women? But it sounded off to me nevertheless...very PC.

by Anonymousreply 271July 16, 2019 1:08 AM

R271 good point. I think it’s true that some reporters who’ve met the victims call them victims because they now are.

by Anonymousreply 274July 16, 2019 1:14 AM

Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is hardly a billionaire, according to the financial-disclosure form his lawyers filed in seeking bail for him. see also Locals called Jeffrey Epstein’s Caribbean retreat ‘Pedophile Island’

The single-page document had been kept under seal away from the public until the Manhattan federal judge overseeing Epstein’s sex-trafficking case released it Monday, dismissing it as “cursory.”

Epstein lists in the filing that he has:

Cash: $56,547,773

Equities: $112,679,138

Hedge funds and private equity: $194,986,301

Properties including: 9 E. 71 st St., Manhattan, worth $55,931,000; 49 Zorro Ranch Road, Stanley, NM, $ 17,246,208; 358 El Brillo Way, Palm Beach, Fla., $ 12,380,209; 22 Avenue Foch, Paris, France, $8,672,823; Great St. James Island in the Virgin Islands, $22,498,600, and Little St. James Island, also there, $63,874,223.

The total assets listed are $559,120,954.

The feds are arguing that Epstein — who is accused of sex-trafficking — shouldn’t been given bail pending trial because of the uber-connected former moneyman’s potential ability to buy his way to freedom.

Epstein’s lawyers did not respond to a request for comment.

Their business was prostitution, drug running, traffic in humans. When MI5 discovered how Mogilevich earned his money, they informed the Home Office which expelled him from Britain and publicly branded him as 'one of the most dangerous criminals in the world'. It is hard to believe that Robert Maxwell did not know that. Yet he continued to be drawn ever deeper into the dark and evil empire Mogilevich operated. A number of people who had crossed his path had been disposed of into the Moscow River or in one of the city's back streets. He had his own team of killers never further away than a phone call.

Page 425 (PDF page 433):

On basis of the results of the autopsy performed on the embalmed body, and following the previous autopsy of 425 Mr. Robert MAXWELL, I hereby give my Expert's opinion, that his death was most probably caused by drowning.

The traumatic injuries which were summarized in the previous paragraph, are the result of blunt injuries and were caused antemortem.

Abrasions, contusions and hematomata on the body of Mr. Maxwell, are compatible with an involuntary fall into the sea.

For preparing a final opinion, we require the protocol of the first autopsy, histological sections and the results of toxicological and biological tests (including water sample from the drowning region).

Page 353 (PDF page 361):

Edmund Safra had been one of Robert Maxwell's closest friends. Safra had personally allowed money to be funneled through his bank from Eastern Europe.

'When Safra realised the bureau [FBI] was moving in,' John O'Neil recalled, 'he did a deal. He agreed to keep the bureau informed of what moved through his bank to the Bank of New York, which had been targeted by Russian and Bulgarian crime syndicates. Safra didn't like the heat on him, so he agreed to help the bureau.'

But, when Safra announced he was going to sell his bank for $9.8 billion in 1999, he also attracted powerful enemies.

In December of that month, Safra was in his penthouse, one as secure as Maxwell's, in the Belle Epoque building on Monaco's exclusive Boulevarde Ostend. Some time during the night masked intruders had entered the penthouse. A male nurse, one of two Safra kept permanently available to tend his needs - an American - raised the alarm. The female nurse and her elderly patient locked themselves in a bathroom.

Safra used his mobile phone to contact his wife, asleep in her bedroom in another part of the spacious penthouse. She assured him help was on the way.

When police and firemen broke down the bathroom door they found Edmund Safra and the nurse dead from smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire and how the intruders made good their escape was never established. They had not been captured on the penthouse surveillance cameras.

Page 228 (PDF page 240):

The small group of plotters in the upper ranks of Mossad could still change their minds. Then everything that had been prepared over the past month would be destroyed. It had happened before when a target had died of natural causes. It could also be that, despite all the precautions taken, word could leak to the political masters of the plotters. Robert Maxwell was still a popular figure in Israel: ordinary people had not forgotten how much he had done for the country. If even a hint became public that there was a plot afoot to murder him, it could be sufficient to bring down the government.

R286 They are referring to this pos perverted deviant as "Financier Jeff Epstein" instead of "Registered Sex Offender, Jeff Epstein."

FFS, he's a Tier 3 Registered Sex Offender, which is considered *highest threat* yet they refer to him as "Billionaire Jeff Epstein" or "Financier Jeff Epstein." Tier 3 classification is the highest level of RSO's. This classification means that they are highly likely to re-offend, they pose a very significant risk to public safety and are also involved in sex trafficking and/or child porn.

And on another note, upthread, you got that all wrong as far as the girls/women thing. They were spinning it and referring to the victims, who are now women, as women when these crimes happened. They stated it so that it would create the false impression they were young women when the crimes occurred. That's exactly what they did. Intelligent people picked up on that. Another spin; they also used the word sex when it was rape.

by Anonymousreply 285July 16, 2019 2:37 AM

I assure you I am not a Spacey defender.

I believe ALL sex offenders should be behind bars, not free to re-offend, and unless they are behind bars they will re-offend.

With rare exceptions, like first offense where there was an element of doubt, or the case wasn't proven beyond a reasonable doubt, or a 16 yr old girl who lied to a 20 year old male about her age. Except for those rare exceptions ALL sex offenders/deviants should be behind bars for life and I am even for the death penalty in states where taxpaying voters vote against supporting them in prison with taxpayer funds. I have never believed any sex offender should be free. They belong locked up or six feet under. Until that happens we are not safe and children are not protected from pedophiles.

by Anonymousreply 286July 16, 2019 3:27 AM

"Until that happens we are not safe and children are not protected from pedophiles."

95% of sex crimes are committed by people with no previous record of any sex offense.....locking up sex offenders forever or executing them won't end sex crimes. Most sex crimes aren't committed by "pedophiles" by the way.

"Except for those rare exceptions ALL sex offenders/deviants should be behind bars for life and I am even for the death penalty in states where taxpaying voters vote against supporting them in prison with taxpayer funds."

If taxpayers in Mississippi and Alabama voted to execute gays would you support that, too? Geez, some people here are so right-wing, which is funny since Republicans always defend Republicans like Trump and Roy Moore who are accused of sex crimes. It is outrageous that any high-risk level sex offender be free and not be incarcerated for life. I hear this bullshit all the time: "He did his time and served his sentence" and they let them walk free. The justice system is as corrupt as it gets. It protects the criminals who seemingly have more rights than the victims. Epstein certainly is not the only high-risk sex offender walking the streets. If Epstein had been put away for life many years ago when he was finally convicted and required to register as a sex offender all of his victims since then would not have suffered. The system failed all these girls and their families.

by Anonymousreply 293July 16, 2019 5:37 AM

Jeffrey Epstein is not a pedophile. (at least according to this article). But he may be worse....

(from the article)...

"Nothing that's surfaced so far in media reports and court filings points to Jeffery Epstein being the clinical definition of a pedophile. His victims, as far as we know, are young, but not so young as to be pre-pubescent. Instead, Epstein appears to be a regular old abuser, not the victim of a psychiatric disorder sprung from his own brain. He’s simply rich, powerful, entitled, a creep, a convicted criminal, and willing to violate all kinds of moral codes to get what he wants. So while Epstein may not be a pedophile, in many ways, he's something much worse."

“I’m really, really surprised that the NYPD let him get away with this, knowing he’s a level 3 sex offender,’’ said lawyer Brad Edwards — referring to the debacle exclusively reported in The Post in which the police department failed to follow up on a court order requiring Epstein to report in every 90 days.

Asked what effect the NYPD’s botched actions might have caused, the lawyer responded by noting the massive trove of porn — including some allegedly involving children — in the multimillionaire pedophile’s Upper East Side home.

“For one, I doubt that he would have been keeping these pornographic trophies, which is what it seems to be, of thousands of photos of young women in his home if somebody was checking on him and he felt there was some sort of scrutiny and accountability of being a registered sex offender,’’ Edwards said.

The lawyer added that for Epstein, “Sex was his full-time job.”

“One of the questions I’ve received many, many times is what Jeffrey Epstein actually did on a daily basis. What I’m telling you is, what he did on a daily basis is engage in these types of sex acts with young adults and children,’’ Edwards said. “I’m also telling you that his employees’ sole responsibility was to accumulate as many of these people for those sexual perversions as they possibly could. That’s what he did.

“What he did to make his money, I don’t know. What he did legitimately outside of engaging in these sexual misdeeds, I don’t know — nor do any of the witnesses that we have ever deposed.”

The NYPD insisted to The Post in a statement, “Jeffrey Epstein was never in violation of the judge’s order as he legally changed his residency and was monitored in his new jurisdiction in compliance with” the law.

But a judge already considered the residency argument by Epstein’s lawyer in 2011 — and rejected it, ruling that the pedophile would still have to adhere to the requirements for Level 3 sex offenders, considered the worst and most at risk of repeating their crimes, while in New York state.

Does anyone else think we have a paedophile on this thread?

by Anonymousreply 308July 16, 2019 9:14 PM

R291, I think so, too.

And also...maybe Trump eliminated a sex traffic competitor...

I also think immigrant kids are being trafficked via Trump’s border crisis.

by Anonymousreply 309July 16, 2019 10:02 PM

R291, I think the opposite is true. I think (or should I say I hope?) that the Epstein story is being released by Trump’s enemies because it will expose Trump. One clue that supports my theory is the loss of Acosta — why would Trump have JE taken out only to lose Acosta? Why would Trump want the JE story released when he is implicated in it? I also don’t believe Trump cares about the border crisis getting press — the cages are red meat for his base, so he *wants* the press coverage of brown people in cages.

His attack on the 4 Dem women is his attempt to redirect/distract from the Epstein story. I simply refuse to believe that someone as disgusting and dirty as Trump would pass over the chance to “party” with Epstein. How can anyone believe that Trump NEVER indulged with JE? Impossible. 28 girls + a mountain of blow + JE & the Orange Fatass = He Fucked. I hope this is his takedown, and I hope it’s as ugly as possible, death by 1,000,000 cuts. Imagine how grosteque it will be to hear about Trump having relations with children and then revisiting pictures of 14 yo Ivanka on his lap. His followers won’t be able to swallow it, it will be what finally breaks them.

R310 Fingers crossed.

My head is spinning.

Where is the stuff about Epstein & Trump fighting over taking the girl’s virginity. Trump succeeds and Epstein beats the crap out of her and then rapes her too?

Did I read that on this thread?

Was there a credible news source for this?

Am I correct in remembering this info was part of what had been recently unsealed?

by Anonymousreply 313July 17, 2019 9:05 AM

I remember the same, R313. Can't help you any more, though...

That and the fact that those are criminal offences R310.

Not to disagree with R301 overall, but I think in Trump's mind there's little downside for losing Acosta. He probably figures he can replace him with another lackey—he doesn't care about competence. And even better, he gets to appoint yet another *acting* cabinet member, further filling up the administration with unconfirmed, unapproved underlings directly beholden to him—another step towards the petty dictatorship he wants.

by Anonymousreply 317July 17, 2019 10:31 AM

Yesterday I saw a sympathetic article about Ghislaine Maxwell, talking about how lost she was after her father died and how after her father’s criminality was revealed, she had a trust fund that ‘only’ paid her $100,000 a year.

Boo. Fucking. Hoo.

This woman was a fucking international pimp and I’m supposed to feel sorry for her??? Fuck that. Just because she was some sort of society figure. Unbelievable.

“Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand. They think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are because we had to discover the compensations and refuges of life for ourselves. Even when they enter deep into our world or sink below us, they still think that they are better than we are. They are different. ”

by Anonymousreply 320July 17, 2019 12:14 PM

R316 Thank you for that. So we pretty much know the Epstein part of that is true. Why would someone randomly insert Donald Trump into the mix if he wasn't indeed part of the crime? This whole Epstein thing has the weight to take down the Donald for good. Let's hope all evidence is allowed to come to light. Would not be surprised to find Epstein hanging from a sheet in his cell sometime very soon.

by Anonymousreply 321July 17, 2019 1:18 PM

I'm sure Maxwell "worked" for Epstein to supplement what I'm sure she regards as her 'meager' income (oh to get handed $100,000 a year, having never lifted a finger to earn it!). I'm also sure she regarded the opportunity to sexually abuse girls as a benefit of the job.

by Anonymousreply 322July 17, 2019 1:30 PM

His type doesn't commit suicide. So it will inevitably look like murder.

by Anonymousreply 323July 17, 2019 1:33 PM

Israeli Prime Minister's rival has been proven to have long standing ties with JE through the creation of international spy ware used internationally including in Mexico, and through US intelligence services. This case is much more complex than what's on the surface so far.

Why would Ivanka Trump and at least 1 of her brothers have gone to Pedo Island?

by Anonymousreply 329July 17, 2019 2:55 PM

You tell us, R329.

by Anonymousreply 330July 17, 2019 3:05 PM

R330, When I try to suggest theories discussed elsewhere on the internet I get called a CT when I'm only attempting to explore other possibilities. Makes me reluctant to do so as many on DL are OCD and hard headed.

Clearly Ivanka and Jared as well as POTUS' sons hang out with other super elite many of whom have questionable reputations. Cannot believe Trump would consider any of them potential POTUS candidates in 2024.

by Anonymousreply 331July 17, 2019 3:10 PM

As mentioned above, some of his parties were for the wealthy to hang out with other wealthy people away from the riff raff. Some of his parties were "normal" and then he had his "special" parties.

by Anonymousreply 332July 17, 2019 3:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 333July 17, 2019 3:25 PM

R332, Don't kid yourself.

by Anonymousreply 334July 17, 2019 3:26 PM

I'm not kidding myself or anyone. Epstein is like the swingers in my neighborhood. They have normal family style bbq's and then they have their swinger parties. Believe it or not, even despicable pedos can have "normal" weekend parties for their married or non-pedo acqauintances.

by Anonymousreply 335July 17, 2019 3:39 PM

R331 The following is Trumps' current plan for the future *if he is re-elected*, which Ivanka has fully agreed to, while her two brothers are fuming that they were not chosen over Ivanka.

If Trump is re-elected he is going to make Ivanka his VP and then at some point early in his second term he is going to back out of the presidency by feigning illness/health reasons, whatever excuse he can come up with. He'll either back out mid-term or at the very earliest shortly after completing his first year. Mid-term is more likely.

The whole idea of course is a smooth, legal transition so Vice President Ivanka can slip into his position and assume his role as POTUS without having to campaign --- but of course where he will remain the "secret" power behind the presidency. He'll still be pulling the strings and calling the shots behind the scenes, just not sitting in the oval office. That is where Ivanka will be perched. And that is where he wants Ivanka -- and it is also where she wants to be and feels entitled to be. The vast majority of his deranged base will not have an issue with "President Ivanka" because they know he'll still be running the show, so to speak.

This needs to circulate, loud and clear, so that he cannot pull this shit without us shouting "told you so" -- "we knew it" -- "we called it", as he does not like others to accurately predict or foresee his devious plans and then end up being right about it, making him wrong. He so hates being wrong and losing because losing is for losers -- to him being called out and wrong = losing = loser. And he'd rather die a thousand deaths before being known for being a loser. Start spreading the news. This is his Plan A, if he is re-elected. Plan B is not much different.

Sorry, off topic... now back to the thread.

by Anonymousreply 336July 17, 2019 3:46 PM

R335, Understandable that JE would invite Harvard elite scientists to seemingly legitimize his parties as well as to be a draw for the super wealthy. However at what point would word quietly spread of what was really happening on the side so that those concerned with their rep and image choose to avoid him like the plague?

If Trump claimed he avoided JE after learning the truth about his dirty dealings then why would he allow his daughter anywhere near Pedo Island?

by Anonymousreply 337July 17, 2019 3:47 PM

R337, it's pretty clear that Dumpy and Epstein were good buds. I'm sure that old Jeff knew Ivanka was off limits not to mention most likely too old for Jeff.

by Anonymousreply 338July 17, 2019 3:51 PM

R336, So Pence won't be on the 2020 ticket but neither will be a top sensible and experienced Republican? Doubt the base would go for Ivanka. A woman's always at a disadvantage and Trump's daughter doesn't have the background to overcome it. She's even less experienced than Trump. Furthermore much of the base is very suspicious of her husband. Bad move IMHO.

by Anonymousreply 339July 17, 2019 3:59 PM

[R335] How do you know this? Sometimes I feel as if there’s a whole alternative reality going on that I don’t know about.

by Anonymousreply 340July 17, 2019 4:05 PM

The kink in the plan for Trump to stay in power thru Pres. Ivanka is that she is a Jewess. Trump's Nazi base doesn't like Jews.

by Anonymousreply 341July 17, 2019 4:08 PM

R341, Being a Jewess is only 1 of Ivanka's disadvantages to Trump's base. After all they support the Jewish lawyers taking JE down and most of the Jewish advisers on Trump's staff.

R340, Hints of what's in the works have been repeatedly discussed on alt sites. In fact there was just a survey on reader's choices for Trump's VP in 2020 and POTUS in 2024. Choices were limited to Ivanka and Don Jr. No I am not a CT either.

by Anonymousreply 342July 17, 2019 4:14 PM

^ Yes, R342 and as I mentioned in my R336 post, Don Jr is seething that his father chose Ivanka over him for his next VP.

by Anonymousreply 343July 17, 2019 4:22 PM

Interesting storytelling. What's it called, when an outlandish scenario is played out for the public in advance, so that they don't recoil too much when it is tried out for real?

by Anonymousreply 346July 17, 2019 4:28 PM

R344 We should be putting that info out there as a warning so voters are at least aware. His supporters do not want a woman in the WH for President or Vice President but they will know Trump is still the one governing and making the decisions and for that reason they will not care that he resigned and replaced himself with his daughter Ivanka before his term ends. Trumps reelection means there's a high probability this will be the eventual outcome. I sure wouldn't put it past him. He has hinted and made references to this himself. It's not that far fetched.

by Anonymousreply 347July 17, 2019 4:54 PM

This spider’s web involves both Democrats and Republicans – how do you think Epstein managed to remain free for so long?

Do you really think Epstein was foolish enough to only socialize with people from one political party? He donated $4 million to the Clinton Global Initiative. Bill Clinton flew to Pedo Island 27 times, and five of those times he left behind his Secret Service detail.

The young woman who is suing Epstein and Maxwell has testified that when she was working for him, he used to always say “oh that politician owes me a favor “. He said it about lots and lots of politicians from both sides of the aisle.

I don’t care if they’re Democrats or if their Republicans; if they were involved in exploiting underage girls then they need to be held accountable.

by Anonymousreply 353July 17, 2019 5:38 PM

R347, Majority of Trump's supporters would vote for an extremely experienced, brilliant woman who's also attractive. Sarah Palin's not a good example of the above.

Currently a Jamaican legal immigrant (as a child) and businesswoman with varied political experience is challenging AOC in NY. Yes she's also a mother. While she's competing only at a local level at this point she's an example of an extremely admirable, attractive candidate who's getting widespread Republican support.

Back to JE and his likelihood of serving a long prison sentence (or being killed in jail) despite his vast international political power.

by Anonymousreply 354July 17, 2019 5:52 PM

R352, Why did HRC make numerous trips to Pedo Island without Bill? The island doesn't offer the usual recreational opportunities of comparable luxurious island resorts or even of isolated and private paradises.

by Anonymousreply 355July 17, 2019 5:54 PM

"While she's competing only at a local level at this point she's an example of an extremely admirable, attractive candidate who's getting widespread Republican support."

She's only getting widespread support from Republicans because they'll vote for ANY Republican over a Democrat. They don't care about her accomplishments.

by Anonymousreply 356July 17, 2019 5:54 PM

I doubt any of this footage will bother his supporters. There could be video evidence of Trump raping an underage girl released to the press and many of his rabid followers still wouldn’t care.

by Anonymousreply 357July 17, 2019 5:56 PM

I doubt Hilary is a child molester despite the Alex Jones induced hysteria. No one is going to turn down a private island retreat without tourists and shared beaches. Maybe she had a lover join her.

by Anonymousreply 358July 17, 2019 5:57 PM

R358, There must be a reason so many elite and famous women flew to Pedo Island when there's always been plenty of far superior alternatives particularly for those seeking total seclusion, privacy and/or top of the line service. Hardly anything exists on Pedo Island unless of course it's all underground. Compare it to Bohemian Grove's set up and absolutely nothing makes any sense. Even Branson's party island offers superior amenities.

Personally I can't stand Alex Jones whiny, irritating voice so I don't pay attention to his views.

by Anonymousreply 359July 17, 2019 6:03 PM

"There must be a reason so many elite and famous women flew to Pedo Island when there's always been plenty of far superior alternatives particularly for those seeking total seclusion, privacy and/or top of the line service"

Huh? Men and women went there, not just women. They went there because they were friends with Epstein. Rich and famous people hang out with other rich and famous people.

by Anonymousreply 360July 17, 2019 6:06 PM

Those type of resorts cost serious money, r359. Epstein offered it all for free.

He’d fly you out there on his private jet and entertain you all expenses paid.

by Anonymousreply 361July 17, 2019 6:09 PM

R360, Of course we know many men went to Pedo Island but why would elite women? Just because it was 100% free? Still think HRC, Ivanka Trump and the other women were foolish to go knowing JE's reputation. Hillary especially since she was pursuing a political career and should know to avoid the implication of impropriety even if everything was 100% innocent.

by Anonymousreply 362July 17, 2019 6:15 PM

You are the company you keep.

by Anonymousreply 363July 17, 2019 6:25 PM

You forget R362, that Epstein was a political donor. No doubt these women went for free and to curry donations. Duh.

by Anonymousreply 364July 17, 2019 6:28 PM

R354 - Yes, the majority of Trump supporters would vote for a woman if she were extremely experienced, brilliant and attractive but only IF she were a Republican. And they would hold her to a higher standard too, so she would have to be very attractive, highly qualified, accomplished and Republican. That doesn't describe Ivanka by any stretch of the imagination but they would go along with Ivanka as VP and later as POTUS because they'd know their crazy man Trump is still in power operating behind the scenes.

Back on topic.

by Anonymousreply 365July 17, 2019 6:35 PM

R365 Republicans have a low bar for attractiveness. Kellyann Conway is considered a babe in those circles. White, peroxide blonde, fake tits a plus and spouting anti-anything that isn't "white "christian"" and a love of guns is all it would take.

by Anonymousreply 366July 17, 2019 7:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 380July 18, 2019 1:18 AM

Tender Is The Night was one of the most disturbing reads

by Anonymousreply 381July 18, 2019 1:21 AM

I stand by the theory that enemies of Trump “reignited” this case, and Trump is using the Congresswomen as his Grand Distraction. Have we yet determined the **precise event** that triggered this saga being lit up again? That is likely a story in and of itself.

As others have stated, even pedos have a social life. I had a close friend who was a child abuser (unbeknownst to me of course) and he partied like an SOB and had gatherings constantly. I partied with him regularly, in his home and at the bars. Once the whole story came out, we discovered that he did his abusing during work hours only (he was a teacher), right in his classroom. So one of the many things I learned is that these high functioning abusers are quite adept at silo-ing/compartmentalizing the various facets of their life. In fact, they *must* do this. How better to hide, my dearie? I also learned that they often overcompensate in their social life so that they blend in more. Think about the people you perhaps partied with a lot.....would you ever being thinking that they have a whole separate part of their life where they are having sex with children?

So Epstein entertaining frequently, and having a multitude of friendships by no means implicates the vast majority of his “friends.” They likely just enjoyed his company, I’m certain he could be charming at times, and they got “goodies” by being in his orbit, such as private flights, visits to his luxurious estates, rubbing elbows with other VIP’s. And yet.....we know Trump is a pig and an abuser too. I have no proof, but my gut based on being manipulated by a sexual predator myself is that the odds of them partying and abusing girls together is extremy high. Did Bill Clinton do the same? It’s possible, but much less likely than Trump Obviously Dershowitz did indulge. I think there are many from his phone book that indulged, but they are probably still just a fraction of his total contacts. But these are ALL elite and rich people, which also means that a large contingency will be pressuring everyone to tamp this story down. Many asses are on the line.

I think the Trump kids being on the island is just a red herring, and again, would be typical of a predator, having their kids right near them in their hunting ground, they are hiding in plain sight.

What is fucking mind blowing is the media failing to report the transcripts of Trump/Epstein fighting over popping a virgin’s cherry. You need to pressure every single journalist/newscaster you know to cover this. Everyone from Robert Costa to NPR to Lawrence. Email, tweet, call. Spread it on your social media. Do this for your country now, this is no joke, this story can potentially take the monster down. We’ve all *got* to ban together right now. “Mary” me to infinity, I don’t give a fuck — I ask you as a fellow American. Plaster the virgin cherry popping story all over your sm. Your country needs you.

by Anonymousreply 382July 18, 2019 1:42 AM

I occasionally lurk around deplorable sites and as of lately they are saying that Trump ended his relationship with Epstein BEFORE he was aware that he was, as they put it, "fucking underage girls." They do not see it as rape probably because they are just like him; pedophiles, hebephiles, rapists -- most sex offender criminal types voted for Trump. They probably make up about a third of his base. They are claiming that Trump ended his relationship with Epstein upon learning that he was a pedophile when the truth is that he was still friends with him all along.

When another poster mentioned that Trump was still friends with Epstein even after he was convicted and forced to register as a sex offender they said that is not true. Another poster, who was making sense, told them that the only reason Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago was because some of his wealthy, long-time members were offended and upset that he would allow a sex offender to be there and not because he had sexually assaulted a teenage girl as Trump claims.

So the only reason Trump would not allow Epstein to go to M-A-L was because he was losing wealthy members, some of whom threatened to terminate their M-A-L membership with a refund. Trump didn't care about the sexual assault, he just cared about his profits and image and didn't want to lose members. Trump is trying to make himself look like he has a moral compass when he has none and the stupid, easily mislead deplorables ate that up.

Based upon what I've read the past week the deplorables do not believe Trump maintained a relationship with Epstein once he was convicted in 2008 when he became aware that Epstein was molesting and raping girls. They also believe that some of the girls were partying with Epstein and they were on board with this sort of thing or that they put themselves in a position where this could happen, not that Epstein took advantage of them, and also claiming that Trump is not responsible for Epstein's behaviors.

There is no getting through to them. They are ignorant, low-IQ and dense. Some of Trumps supporters are sex offenders and perverts themselves. So the very people who need to listen and know the truth about Trump and his involvement with Epstein are not interested. They are not listening. His approval rating has not dropped one point because of these crimes. They believe Trump is innocent in all of this and is being dragged through the mud.

by Anonymousreply 383July 18, 2019 1:52 AM

Trump has ties to Epstein, but let's stop with the unsourced fake news. There is zero evidence of Ivanka or the Trump kids being on the island, or "Lolita Express".

by Anonymousreply 384July 18, 2019 2:05 AM

R382 The fact that they have not plastered that story everywhere and played that video of him making that comment (if such a video exists) tells you right there that the media is placating and playing us. I agree with you that if they really wanted to take Trump down that alone would do it because "pop her cherry" is openly admitting to pedophilia/hebephila. They can spin it however they want and say they were referring to an 18 yr old virgin but even the dumbest of the dumb Trumpies will know he's twisting the truth and guilty as hell. There should come a point where even the worst of the deplorables will see that Trump has long-term ties and involvement with Epstein.

by Anonymousreply 385July 18, 2019 2:07 AM

[quote] You need to pressure every single journalist/newscaster you know to cover this.

Unfortunately, we have seen too many journalists were friends with Epstein and likely participated in his orgies.

That's why everyone has to do their own research, and share it here and on social media.

There was little or no MSM coverage for 30 years while everyone knew it was going on.

I disagree r386. You’re conflating his social status world with his peverted sex world, but they were separate. Again, he maintained a *separate* world of elites: scientists, politicians, journalists, corporate leaders, blahblahblah. These people were just on his party circuit — do not go down the CT lane just because Katie Couric hung out at his pool parties. Think of the party house in high school — that was Epstein, and people like Stephanopoulis just hung for the fun, the connections, the gossip.

R387, And just HTH do you come off declaring that what you posit must be the truth? HTH do YOU know Epstein kept "two different worlds" separated?

What's your angle? Are you Bill Clinton, Katie Couric, George S, etc., or are you just a friend of someone on the passenger lists?

I'm sorry we have to disagree, R387.

MSM journalists were handed the biggest story in decades this week. You can see what they chose to focus on below.

Trump didn't shun Epstein when he found out he fucked underage girls. Trump loved that sort of thing. He is quoted in Vanity Fair saying how much he liked Epstein and that he liked beautiful women just like Trump - some even on the young side. Trump knew what Epstein was up to because Trump was just like him. A young girl is a trophy for them and to take their virginity is the biggest. I read the transcripts of the charge against Trump and Epstein and it is pretty horrific. According to the court filing, Trump raped the 13 year girl - taking her virginity. Then Epstein got mad that it was Trump who got her virginity and Epstein raped her again and attempted to take her anal virginity. Plus she got hit around a bit by both of them.

In a summer of scandal for the British royal family — William and Harry’s reported falling out, Meghan Markle’s diva antics at Wimbledon — one truly sordid royal has not been making headlines.

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.

The Queen’s favorite son has always been useless at best, a liability at worst — boorish, piggish, entitled, greedy and often quite stupid, consorting with oligarchs and strongmen for personal profit.

But Andrew’s most dangerous entanglement — his rancid loyalty to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, which has reportedly spanned decades — has never really been challenged by the Queen, the prime minister or the British press, constrained as they are by some of the world’s most stringent libel laws.

On the heels of Epstein’s arrest last week for the sex trafficking of underage girls, the US Appeals Court for the Second Circuit has ruled that 2,000 pages from a 4-year-old defamation suit filed by one of Epstein’s and Andrew’s alleged victims, Virginia Giuffre (née Roberts), are to be unsealed.

It’s likely that names will be heavily redacted. After all, extremely rich and powerful people are contained within, including, said the court, “prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign presidents, a well-known prime minister and other world leaders” — all now implicated in Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking operation.

But Prince Andrew will almost certainly be named and his behavior highly detailed. It was Giuffre, after all, who in 2011 told the Daily Mail that Epstein made her a “sex slave” when she was just 15. In 2015, The Guardian reported that, in court papers, she was forced, at age 17, to have sex with Andrew three times in three different locations. Andrew has denied these allegations.

The insolent prince would not be cowed, even as The Sunday Times UK reported that flight and public records put Roberts and Prince Andrew in three separate locations at the same time — including once on Epstein’s private Caribbean island — even as a photo surfaced of Andrew taken in 2001, his arm around then-17-year-old Virginia’s waist.

That photo was taken in Ghislaine Maxwell’s apartment. Maxwell has been named as Epstein’s longtime alleged pimp and has herself been accused of sexually abusing young girls in court records filed in New York this past April. Maxwell has denied any wrongdoing. In 2011, The Daily Telegraph reported that Epstein and Maxwell had, in 2000, been hosted at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate.

In fact, in 2011, after Epstein was released after serving a mere 13 months for soliciting an underage girl for prostitution — with Epstein out free on “work release” up to 12 hours a day — The Post reported that it was Prince Andrew with whom he celebrated.

The senior royal, according to the Telegraph, spent four days at the registered sex offender’s $50 million Upper East Side mansion, while Epstein worked to settle some of outlandish debts plaguing Andrew’s equally greedy and parasitic ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

“I’m not a sexual predator,” Epstein told The Post back then. “I’m an ‘offender.’ It’s the difference between a murderer and a person who steals a bagel.”

Around the same time, Andrew and Epstein were photographed taking a chummy walk through Central Park, a photograph splashed in tabloids both here and in the UK.

This did not play well back home. Buckingham Palace was forced to issue a statement.

“There is a question mark over his choice of friends,” a senior royal aide told the press, “and that is quite difficult for him.”

Difficult for him?

by Anonymousreply 391July 18, 2019 7:05 AM

This month, the palace was more forceful. “It is emphatically denied that the Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts,” the palace said in a statement Sunday. “Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation.”

By the way, another witness who gave evidence in Giuffre’s case testified that Andrew spent “weeks” at Epstein’s mansion in Florida — where young women were often roaming around topless or in the pool, naked — and that the prince received “daily massages.”

Epstein’s indictment claims that when Epstein received “massages,” this led to horrors.

It’s well known that the British royal family has been fighting for survival — for popularity, for relevancy, for the continued financial backing of its subjects — since Princess Diana’s death in 1997. Modernizing the monarchy has since been a Herculean effort, and it seems the palace regards the addition of a young American woman of mixed-race heritage great progress.

But the palace and its most trusted advisers should take note: Much has happened between 2011 and today, including, for Prince Andrew, a movement that could not be more aptly named: Time’s Up.

r212. Yes, your post is directed in the right direction. Dumpster and his gang of thieves is what is behind KavaNAUGHT getting that Supreme Court seat. It was all timed: practically out of the blue Justice Kennedy surprises everyone by his sudden DECISION to retire. He is still healthy, with no signs of any deterioration and now he's leaving in just two weeks and announced his desire to have Brett Kavanaugh to replace him AND he wants Kav's assistants to accompany him. Imagine!

This in fact went down. Also, his son works at Deutsche Bank in the very department that Deutsche is now shutting down. Meuller has subpoenaed Deutsche Bank's documents that Barr fought very hard to block. Why? Also, who and why did someone payoff KavaNAUGHT's $200,000 debt and how was his debt not investigated.

Bottom line: Some entity with a lot of power wanted all of this to happen under Dump's illegitimate Presidency. There's something foul in Denmark.

by Anonymousreply 393July 18, 2019 7:09 AM

Kennedy's retirement wasn't sudden. There were rumors going around for more than a year ahead of time. Not to say there was no backroom dealing, but it wasn't sudden.

by Anonymousreply 394July 18, 2019 7:28 AM

r394 Listen, IF any Supreme leaves the court, they sure as hell know what the current President's persuasion is. Don't toss off the idea that Kennedy didn't know what the consequences of his decision to retire implicated. It's trolls like you that are in denial. Didn't I mention how unprecedented and presumptious it was for a retiring SC Justice to Name or suggest his own replacement!? Get off here with your shit! Do you think RBG is hanging for her own kicks too. FUCK OFF!

by Anonymousreply 395July 18, 2019 8:12 AM

Am I okay in stating Dump will always have 33% of the vote, regardless of what he says or does? If Dumpster is full on insistent that he must preach to them, then why does MSM care....really, why should others care? Why not concentrate on the other 66%? We don't need to reinforce how depraved that segment is. It's downright depressing and I hope that incessant hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and scorching farm-wrecking weather changes their collective dim witted minds - or else Mother Nature can go right ahead cull the herd.

by Anonymousreply 396July 18, 2019 9:16 AM

R395. Screeching at me doesn't change the fact that it wasn't sudden, there was talk that he was being pressured by Republicans to do so to nail down the conservative majority on the court.

You're kind of an idiot, by the way.

by Anonymousreply 397July 18, 2019 9:54 AM

Will Epstein get bail tomorrow?

by Anonymousreply 398July 18, 2019 10:30 AM

Dear r397, Kennedy stepped down within a year or so of Dumps Presidency - that's pretty sudden to me. I wonder what gets you off to suggest it wasn't? What possible benefit do you derive from that? Yes, Kennedy was blackmailed and that happened pretty quick, too.

By the way, you're kind of an idiot troll, Boris.

Joyce Alene asked a good question on Twitter:

Why keep a 30 year old expired passport in a fake name in your safe? With your child pornography?

by Anonymousreply 401July 18, 2019 1:31 PM

I have to agree with R394. Kennedy's departure wasn't necessarily sudden but it was unexpected in the manner that it occurred. There had been speculation that Kennedy would retire at the end of the term. Many were anticipating the announcement from the court. But instead of an announcement, Kennedy hired staff for the next year. The court session ended with all justices fully intact. However, the next day, Kennedy has a secret meeting with Don McGahn to tell him that he is leaving and to discuss a replacement. I agree that there was some back dealing regarding Kennedy's son but the proper characterization of the departure is not necessarily sudden but unconventional or unexpected given that he had staff in place for the next session. Something happened to change his mind.

MSNBC: New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas confirms to Rachel Maddow that investigators in his state looking into Jeffrey Epstein's ranch there have communicated with people who say they were victims of Epstein. by Anonymousreply 403July 18, 2019 2:04 PM

He also alluded to the fact that there could be a bit of a scandal with Epstein having leases on the land around his property. It sounds like the former Governor sold Epstein the house and then gave him a generous lease on the governmental lands surrounding it.

Federal prosecutions of those who trafficked children for sex dropped 26.7% over the last year.

The Obama administration dramatically ramped up such prosecutions, climbing threefold from 85 cases in 2009, the year the 44th president took office, to more than 260 during his final year in the White House.

While those prosecutions held steady in the first year under President Donald Trump, they have taken a dramatic plunge every year since.

I was just reading a post by a guy who had become disillusioned with the Republican Party ( he was a former supporter/activist and lived in a very red state ). Anyway, he went to a town hall meeting and when he took issue with the Republican Party, Trump and the fact that the town hall was flying the confederate flag, he received death threats against both him and his family.

All he did was raise some legitimate issues while trying to be be calm and rational while he was about it. However, a bunch of Rednecks who lived in his neighbourhood went ballistic and threatened to kill both him and his family.

I know I’m going off on a tangent here but I seriously think that even if video evidence surfaces of Trump and Epstein both beating and raping a twelve year old sex slave it wouldn’t make the slightest bit of difference with these people.

Raw Story: Epstein buddy Alan Dershowitz claims that The New Yorker is is working on an exposé about him and women who have accused him of having sex with them when they were under 18 years old.

In an op-ed he wrote for right-wing publication Newsmax, Dershowitz accuses New Yorker editor David Remnick of commissioning “a hit piece against me for the explicit purpose of silencing my defense of President Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and the State of Israel.”

Dershowitz then claims, without offering any evidence, that “Remnick explicitly told people that I must be silenced because mine has been the most persuasive voice in favor of what Remnick feels pose dangers to values he holds dear, and that he will use the credibility of The New Yorker to accomplish this goal.”

by Anonymousreply 448July 19, 2019 4:22 AM

I think we're finally onto the real story about Trump and Russia. I think Epstein is involved. Maybe through Saudi Arabia? What we're going to find with Epstein is a whole lot of nasty i.e. rape, sex trafficking and probably murder. What do you do with all these young girls when they aren't so young any more? Either dump them off your island or sell them into the sex trade market. No way you're going to hand them a couple thousand dollars and thank them for their service. They need to get Epstein's madam under arrest soon or she will be fleeing to another country if she hasn't already. Trump diddling about with a couple of Russian hookers and peeing on each other seems like teenage hijinks compared to this.

by Anonymousreply 449July 19, 2019 4:38 AM

i'm surprised he has saudi connections, I mean, if you're rich and powerful in the middle east, you do what the fuck you want, nobody will give a shit. eat, drink, fuck anything, no problem. Why would they have a need for Epstein? Only thing I can think of is, he knows a lot of celebs, maybe the saudis want to meet these celebs but they usually just pay appearance fees of these actresses...

by Anonymousreply 450July 19, 2019 4:50 AM

There has to be some link that connects Dump, Epstein and Putin. Many of these underage girls and women look Russian or Eastern European. These women weren't long removed from their homelands. Some govt. or country must have had a hand in rounding up attractive blond, blue-eyed women and girls from these countries. Most of these pigs lusted for these types. They sure as hell didn't dig around for women of color. One need to only look at Melanie to see the prototype female.

by Anonymousreply 455July 19, 2019 8:21 AM

One of the things that stood out for me was how brazen Epstein’s behaviour was. For example, look at what he did to the Italian model who had a meeting with him in New York. He basically stripped naked in his office and then tried to give her a vibrator.

And there’s no telling how many times he did this to other young women.

by Anonymousreply 456July 19, 2019 8:36 AM

Deplorables will never be Trump successful - Trump isn’t even Trump successful. The more that comes out about his fraudulent claims of success, the more disillusioned they may feel.

That coupled with Carter’s humble beginnings might strike a chord with a few of them, no?

They need to broadcast Jimmy’s perspective along with pieces like at R424.

He further recorded himself raping a 12-year-old "bride" on that table. His jury heard it.

All hidden, all secret. And you think Epstein is less clever? "It was just for fitness." Yeah, I'll bet it was.

Gawker is defunct and the "new books" are several years old. Reading skills?

R476, I've been reading several books on hyper controlling, beyond creepy cult leader Warren Jeffs and his sale of young teen brides. Don't think he still doesn't buy & sell children from prison to pay for his legal fees.

by Anonymousreply 478July 19, 2019 4:19 PM

What the Saudis got from Epstein was access to TPTB in Washington. Those whom Epstein has blackmail material on are beholden to him. He was able to open up the access so the Saudis could buy policies that are favorable to them. If a politician couldn't be bought, Epstein could coerce them through blackmail. I'm sure the Saudis accepted Epstein's offers of underaged girls, but their interest in Epstein wasn't strictly for the girls.

R475 The thing that Carter has that Trump and a lot of the deplorables lack is contentment and gratitude. They are glass half empty, jealous types. You get the sense Carter would have been happy with his life, probably living in the exact same house, if he had never entered politics. Whereas Trump consumes and consumes but is never satisfied.

by Anonymousreply 485July 19, 2019 5:16 PM

I think Ronan might be out of Epstein-related stories. There’s a weird connection to his mother. One of Epstein’s former assistants, Christina Engelhart, was Woody Allen’s girlfriend when she was a teenager and says she, Woody, and Mia used to have threesomes (Mia was 14 years older than she was at the time, Woody even older than that). She claims to be the inspiration for Manhattan.

To be fair, people who aren’t content* probably make better Presidents than people like Carter. Burning, unquenchable ambition can be a good thing. It’s a puzzle to me how Carter got there in the first place and why.

George Nader was indicted on new sex trafficking charges today. There must be some connection between these two. I don't believe any of these creeps in Dump's orbit were there by coincidence.

by Anonymousreply 491July 19, 2019 7:05 PM

Daily Beast: George Nader is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy from Europe he allegedly flew to the U.S.

An indictment unsealed Friday morning in Eastern District of Virginia also charges Nader with counts of child pornography and obscenity. The charges come on top of separate child-porn charges leveled by the same prosecutors last month.

Nader pleaded not guilty to all charges during a court appearance Friday.

by Anonymousreply 492July 19, 2019 7:30 PM

The current Miami sheriff says his office is going to do an internal affairs investigation as to what happened during Epstein's incarceration. As if anybody will trust that?

by Anonymousreply 493July 19, 2019 7:56 PM

That’s why we need savvy reports to sue based upon FOIA. They obviously can’t remease anything under the umbrella of the interval investigation, but they can *indeed* release documents pertaining to all the original crimes and investigations.

by Anonymousreply 496July 19, 2019 11:59 PM

Nader, Epstein, Prince, MBS. They are all tied to Trump and doing some nefarious shit. I remember when Obama couldn't play basketball with DOJ Holder because it looked improper. But Trump's friends are kiddie diddlers, racists, murders and own private armies. But the GOP is just fine with this.

by Anonymousreply 497July 20, 2019 5:41 AM

She had no idea there was video evidence of Trump socializing with Epstein.

I called her out about Trump having sex with a porn star while his wife was pregnant. She went BALLISTIC. She didn’t deny it, but went on about “fake news.”

Plus she made fun of me for being gay. I was shocked.

Interesting how we each shocked the other. I forget people like her exist. We never settled the Civil War — it continues! They blindingly hate gays, blacks, browns & women. They really are like Nazis!!!

Rednecks are scary. Blue-necks are just as bad! Disagree with them & beware.

by Anonymousreply 500July 20, 2019 9:46 PM

I’m not a conspiracy theorist at all but I wonder who rolled over on Epstein. He’s been operating for YEARS with only the Acosta deal as any time served. He said more or less gotten away scot-free, but what was the catalyst to make these dominoes fall? Same with Weinstein. It’s obviously the media finally doing the right thing (Julie K. Brown) but it really feels like there’s a cabal of hardnosed good guys out there who all said, okay, enough. These Nazi-pedo Republicunts are going down.

by Anonymousreply 501July 20, 2019 10:37 PM

R501 The catalyst is the documents coming out related to the long-running Boies vs. Dersh legal hatefest, combined with the ongoing victims’ suit digging into the FL plea-bargain. And the Me Too movement prepped the field for people to pay attention to this and better understand why this is important. And the folks who wouldn’t otherwise consider this important can view it as bad news for the hated politician of their choice (Clinton, Trump). It’s a perfect storm.

by Anonymousreply 502July 20, 2019 10:42 PM

Plus great reporting from the Miami Herald.

by Anonymousreply 503July 20, 2019 10:49 PM

by Anonymousreply 504July 20, 2019 10:59 PM

Maybe Hillary wants to burn it all to the ground, including Bill.

by Anonymousreply 505July 20, 2019 11:09 PM

Bill may have been many things, a serial cheater, but he wasn't a pedo.

I do think Hillary has probably talked to the FBI divulging all that she suspects. When Bill Clinton released that statement when the story first broke, it wasn't just a PR letter, that was a statement when you know you have nothing to hide. I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI had already asked Bill about that picture with Epstein, and Billy spilling all the stories rumored about Washington and Epstein.

by Anonymousreply 506July 20, 2019 11:24 PM

I always thought that Bill and Hillary had an understanding and she that didn't care that Bill had affairs with other women. They seem to have a more intellectual love/chemistry than a sexual one.

by Anonymousreply 507July 21, 2019 12:11 AM

His base is too dense and clueless to discern fact from fiction and right from wrong. They have been repeatedly told that Trump dumped Epstein before or upon he realizing he was a pedophile when that is NOT true and can even be proven to be false. They are completely tuned out to the facts and the truth.

Trump knew Epstein was "having sex" with young underage girls, some of whom had been trafficked, some who were deceived and manipulated and taken advantage of. He didn't think of it as rape, which is exactly what it was, hence the phrase "having sex." But he still knew what was going on and was still friends with Epstein the pedophile. And that is a provable fact but they won't listen.

They live in a Fox/Faux bubble and along with the lies sociopath Laura Ingraham spews they do not hear the truth because they are too insulated from it and too busy believing the lies to stop and listen to the truth. They think we are just trying to badmouth their man Trump. A certain type of person can be easily brainwashed and Trump has them brainwashed. He is pure evil.

by Anonymousreply 508July 21, 2019 12:12 AM

Didn't Bill Clinton misrepresent the number of times he traveled on Epstein's plane? I might be remembering wrong, but he said in that letter four times (and always with secret service), whereas other sources were citing the travel logs as saying he flew dozens of times (not always with secret service). (Wouldn't mean he's a pedo, however.)

by Anonymousreply 509July 21, 2019 12:14 AM

FOUR trips.

That’s what I mean r502. It feels like it was almost like a planned counterstrike or something. A killswtich on a grenade or something. It’s monumental. It’s massive. Everything you just mentioned plus Deutsche Bank and thaf scummy law firm in Florida.

Whoever said this is contagion level in the other wasn’t kidding. Goddamn it, Ronan or Bob Woodward or somebody better write a three volume series about this starting with Clinton and ending with the next ten years with mentions of Brexit thrown in. It’s too huge to wrap one’s head around almost.

by Anonymousreply 511July 21, 2019 12:21 AM

Trump will walk away unscathed as usual.

by Anonymousreply 512July 21, 2019 12:28 AM

R511 I don’t think it was planned, just because it would be impossible to coordinate the FL plea bargain suit by the victims and the Dersh/Boies whatever the hell it is legal suit in NY (which already went up and back on appeal). Both of these have been percolating for over five years, just moving through the court system. It was the victims’ suit, in combination with Acosta’s appointment, that triggered the Herald pieces.

by Anonymousreply 513July 21, 2019 12:31 AM

Republican Congress don't give a fuck. Remember they STOLE a Supreme Court appointment. Have done JACK SHIT about election fraud. I even think, just a little bit, they could have mentored Trump but none of them wanted to touch him, or denounce him. Trump comes in with a travelling circus of C and D- list freaky incompetents and no Republican blinked. Not to mention all Trumps scandals from the campaign, already.

Everybody slow slow slow slow. Why are Democrats still talking like Mueller testimony is the big break to come, when we all knew everything grosso modo - who and what Trump is - from the get go?

by Anonymousreply 514July 21, 2019 12:35 AM

R508, Many Trump supporters do not have the time and/or energy to do the necessary research as compared to those on DL. Some have limited access to a computer between working more than one job, childcare, elder care, living off the land with vegetable gardens, hunting, and fishing, etc. Sadly they are easily misled.

Others believe all politicians are corrupt horn dogs with the exception of Jimmy Carter. So as long as Trump doesn't threaten to take away their guns and promises to restrict immigration (especially true of those who've undergone a years long expensive process to become US citizens) and doesn't start any major wars but backs LE they're OK.

by Anonymousreply 520July 21, 2019 1:33 AM

True R515. And too add to "doesn't threaten to take away their guns and restrict immigration" they are also still supporting Trump because they want abortion banned and believe he is going to follow through with that promise. .

Come high hell or water they want Roe v Wade overturned and they know that a Democratic POTUS/Administration isn't going to do that. Trump promised them he would overturn Roe v Wade so the abortion issue is another reason they won't give up on Trump, especially the misguided Evangelicals.

They refuse to listen to the truth about Trumps relationship with Epstein when there is plenty of solid proof and evidence that they were partying together and Trump was still friends with Epstein knowing that he had been convicted of pedophilia and was a Tier 3 registered sex offender.

On the other hand, aside from the ignorant Evangelicals, I'd say at least one-third of Trumps base are a combination of pedophiles, sexual perverts / deviants, rapists, sexual harassers, sex traffickers, and other assorted criminals -- all combined -- at least one-third of his overall base. Birds of a feather...

by Anonymousreply 524July 21, 2019 2:35 AM

Consider the high percentage of fundamentalist Christians who actually defend the power to abuse and molest—some of this came out in the Duggar case, where the "therapy" he went to emphasizes the girl's responsibility to dress modestly. They're all about rigid hierarchies, and sexual abuse just isn't necessarily a crime or sin to them, depending on who's doing it. Like the Catholic mothers who defend the priests who abused their kids.

I believe our country has been overcome with greed and has has fallen into a dark place. Such depravity goes hand in hand with the elites feeling above the law. This belief of being above all others is embodied in Tramp and evil minions. We need to lock THEM up and expose them for the white supremacists that they are. Maybe our trading partners can boycott the US until we prove that we believe in basic human rights.

R502 and r511, It's not a "conspiracy theory" when it's really a conspiracy. These men (and some women, such as GM), have never been child-sex traffickers, pedophiles, money-launderers, child-immigrant kidnappers, "yacht girl" hosts, guests on private islands and planes, drug users---in their own little unique bubbles.

Thse men are globalists who recognize no laws. They pursue wealth where it goes, and if that includes trafficking in guns, drugs, 3rd-World children (1st, if possible) and Eastern European women, dirty money, dirtier politicians and law enforcement, graft, environmental degradation and genocide of indigenous peoples, blackmail, extortion, and war-mongering---well, a billionaire's gotta do what a billionaire's gotta do.

You wait. Those trying to inform us for decades who have been considered wacko will be proven to have been unsung Cassandras, and we continue to scorn and disbelieve at our social and moral peril.

by Anonymousreply 548July 21, 2019 5:46 PM

Molly Jong-Fast:

Jeffery Epstein got away with his crimes for as long as he did because he had a network including powerful politicians, heiresses, celebrities, publicists, lawyers, a district attorney, and even a recently resigned labor secretary as bad actors, rotten enablers, and abusive fellow-travelers.

We need to face up to the fact that Epstein is, in part, a product of a culture where wealthy men can do whatever they want. Consequences are for little people.

by Anonymousreply 549July 21, 2019 5:54 PM

Epstein could have arranged to have a few 18 and ups for Clinton. Hope not. Interesting that the young girls that claim they saw him on the island say none of them had sex with him.

by Anonymousreply 550July 21, 2019 6:13 PM

Jimmy Carter, as far as I can make out, is a genuinely moral person. Hard to believe such people exist and that such a person was actually elected to the Presidency but that's why TPTB got him out after one term, so they could put Saint Reagan in, who was run by a cabal of California millionaire/billionaires.

R553, The Big Dog has zero history of such. Trump, OTOH, has been sued....

by Anonymousreply 556July 21, 2019 8:33 PM

There is a whole network of sex trafficking that the average person knows nothing about. We hear bits and pieces with regards to yacht "girls" i.e. former celebrities who sell themselves to rich men for a week or two and then have wild sex on a yacht in international waters. Also, Hollywood pool parties i.e. Bryan Singer, Harvey Weinstein, David Geffen. They are all sleaze bags.

by Anonymousreply 557July 21, 2019 9:03 PM

R541, I don't even read Media Matters, so, no, not a shill. But the reasons I think Bill Clinton may not be guilty is that A) the trips on Epstein's plane don't seem to have been to his island and B) none of the many, many Jane Does claimed to have had sex with him, whereas there are women who've said they had sex with Dershowitz and Prince Andrew and were raped by Epstein and Trump.

Also, there's Bill's quadruple bypass, which may have limited some of his catting around, though I really doubt he's spent the last 20 years being faithful and true to Hillary. I expect he can find his style of bimbos and floozies right there in Manhattan.

by Anonymousreply 558July 21, 2019 9:40 PM

R560, Interestingly, Margolis has his own reputation as a ladies man. The CIA agent's suggestion, however, that Clinton had gotten trapped by Epstein back when he was president makes more sense to me--it would explain why Epstein said "Clinton owes me a favor", but why Clinton was able to say he had SS detail with him and there's no record of him flying to Epstein's island or any of the Jane Does saying they had sex with him.

Being able to hang with Clinton for a month in Africa, gave Epstein more of the social cache and access to power he always wanted.

Someone knew that enough was coming down the pike to set fire to something on Epstein's island, but his NY house had tons of incriminating evidence. Wonder if it was actually Epstein who set the fire in VI, then, or maybe someone who didn't want to be incriminated--Trump? Mossad?

If it were Epstein, why did he come back to New York? It seems rather high-risk under the circumstances. Much better time to vacation long-term in a country with no extradition treaty with the U.S.

[quote] The dinner was at the home of David and Julia Koch, and Epstein can be seen in photos chatting with attendees after Peggy Siegal put him on the guest list

Why does Peggy's name keep popping up in these stories over many years?

Anyone want to speculate about her involvement?

by Anonymousreply 570July 22, 2019 3:14 AM

The image of a swarm of termites eating away at the walls and floors of highly-placed scumbags, comes to mind. If Trump hadn't become president and dragged up the swamp with him, Epstein might have continued on and on. How ironic.

by Anonymousreply 571July 22, 2019 3:34 AM

R571, Agreed--and others, like Weinstein, as well. The whole #metoo movement is really a reaction to Trump. Harvey Weinstein would be going on his merry vindictive way without the stories in the NY Times and the New Yorker--stories that only ran because people had had enough and decided to speak up and publish.

David Koch and Giuliani can't pretend they didn't know what Jeffrey Epstein was--he got off with a wrist slap, but he was convicted--they just didn't care.

WTF does this story have to do with white supremacy? All of the players (perps AND victims) are white?

by Anonymousreply 574July 22, 2019 3:57 AM

'It was the first time he has been out in two years, but nobody blinked he was there,' said a person described by the paper as a 'witness.'

'He was chatting to Jonathan Farklas, Leon Black and Wilbur Ross. He was sitting right near Rudy Giuliani.'

Siegal would then go on to help Epstein host a dinner for Prince Andrew at his home, an event which guests told DailyMail.com was billed as a dinner with the royal and made no mention of the host.

It is unclear when the two parted ways, but it was a different time said Siegal.

'The culture before #MeToo was — "You’ve done your time, now you’re forgiven,"' she said.

by Anonymousreply 575July 22, 2019 3:58 AM

Oh sure, blame your lack of moral judgement on a 'culture.'

Anyways, in one of those Vanity Fair peices on Epstein---excellent work there VF---they report Epstein helped out Ghislaine Maxwell when she was down and out---is this code for GF being ready/willing/able to assist Epstein in his activities?

She is an heiress for gods sake, how down and out can you be?

And speaking of Maxwell, wasn't it suspected her father was murdered? IIRC he was widely thought to be a despicable person.

by Anonymousreply 576July 22, 2019 4:34 AM

Epstein was very good at spending his money and for some people there's never ever enough money, so Epstein had no problem corrupting a number of them.

Trump, Giuliani, Epstein--New York has a lot to answer for. New Yorkers get touchy when you point this out, but it really does reflect a certain aspect of New York City culture where men like this were more than tolerated.

by Anonymousreply 577July 22, 2019 4:43 AM

Former President Bill Clinton’s connection to since-convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was established through British heiress and longtime Epstein pal Ghislaine Maxwell, who also became a friend of former first daughter Chelsea, according to a new report Sunday.

Clinton’s family grew close with Maxwell after Clinton left office in early 2001, Politico reported.

“The Clintons were relatively intimate with her,” a friend of Maxwell’s told the Web site. A person familiar with the relationship also described Maxwell as “the contact between Epstein and Clinton.”

“She ended up being close to the family because she and Chelsea ended up becoming close,” the source added.

Maxwell, the daughter of late publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell, vacationed on a yacht with Chelsea in 2009 and attended her wedding to Marc Mezvinsky the following year, Politico said.

Maxwell was also associated with the Clinton Global Initiative as recently as 2013, when it promoted a “commitment to action” by a group that included Maxwell’s environmental nonprofit, the TerrarMar Project, which she shuttered in the wake of Epstein’s arrest earlier this month.

All of those dates followed Epstein’s 2008 sweetheart-deal of a conviction in Florida on two prostitution-related charges, one of which involved a minor. The multimillionaire financier was busted July 6 on child sex-trafficking charges and last week was ordered held without bail pending trial. He has pleaded not guilty.

In 2015, an Epstein accuser, Virginia Giuffre, sued Maxwell for denying her claim that Maxwell recruited her to be sexually abused by Epstein when Giuffre was 15. Maxwell and Guiffre settled that suit for undisclosed terms on the eve of trial last year.

A source told Politico that although Maxwell was “incredibly close” to Chelsea, “She had her own relationship with Bill Clinton and was very close to him.”

Politico didn’t pinpoint the origin of Bill Clinton’s relationship with Epstein, but Fox News has reported that Clinton took at least 26 trips on Epstein’s Boeing 727 between 2001 and 2003.

A friend of Maxwell’s also told Politico about attending a dinner party around 2005 at her Upper East Side apartment and being surprised to see that where Doug Band, then a top advisor to Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, was among the eight to 10 guests. A charity formerly run by Epstein, The C.O.U.Q. Foundation, listed a $25,000 donation to the Clinton Foundation on its 2006 IRS filing, the Daily Beast has reported.

Politico quoted Bill Clinton’s spokesman, Angel Urena, as saying that Epstein visited Clinton at his Harlem office once in 2002, and that Clinton once briefly visited Epstein’s apartment. It’s unclear what apartment that would be. Epstein owns an Upper East Side townhouse that federal prosecutors have said is worth $77 million.

Urena also said that “President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York,” according to Politico.

Chelsea Clinton’s chief of staff, Bari Lurie, told Politico, “It wasn’t until 2015 that Chelsea and Marc became aware of the horrific allegations against Ghislaine Maxwell and hope that all the victims find justice.”

“Chelsea and Marc were friendly with her because of her relationship with a dear friend of theirs. When that relationship ended, Chelsea and Marc’s friendship with her ended as well,” Lurie added.

Politico suggested the “good friend” was Ted Waitt, who made a fortune founding the since-defunct Gateway computer company and with whom Maxwell has been romantically linked.

R578, And I have a bridge in Brooklyn....

I, a common citizen, have known of JE for years, and some journalist is trying to sell us a story that a brilliant knowledge-consuming former President who as such still gets briefings from the government didn't know?!

Puh-leeze. Clinton, as with Mnuchin, Ross, Giuliani, Trump, et al., knew of paroled felon JE. They each thought they could use him and GM for their own purposes: illicit sex; money, whether personal or charitable; sumptuous vacations; whatever.

Some relatively innocent; some astonishingly guilty. But don't insult us by claiming their ignorance of who Jeffrey truly was---and is..

by Anonymousreply 585July 22, 2019 1:46 PM

R581, Recall reading several online media articles describing an expose on JE several years ago. The book was stopped cold by several well-known publishers despite the author's stellar rep and the quality of what she wrote unless all references to the Clinton's were eliminated. Tales of serious threats of retaliation were relayed against Macmillan in particular. No one wanted to touch this book due to its reveals.

R588 And NY society's "then-BFF" Epstein was on a media campaign to refashion himself as a science philanthropist...

[quote]The effort led to the publication of articles describing him as a selfless and forward-thinking philanthropist with an interest in science on websites like Forbes, National Review and HuffPost.

[quote]All three articles have been removed from their sites in recent days, after inquiries from The New York Times.

[quote]The articles in praise of Mr. Epstein came about partly because of an online publishing model adopted by some news organizations that relied on outside contributors who often wrote for little or no pay, with little or no input from editors.

Looks like some news sites got caught out using a "content farm" model.

^ "Disgraced financier" should read "Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein" or "Child Sex Trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein."

He's not even a "financier." He's a child sex trafficker, tier 3 registered sex offender, pedophile and child pornographer. That's what he did for a living and that's what he is. For five decades. Even mainstream news sources are sugarcoating a convicted sex offender / pedophile.

He accumulated massive wealth by engaging in heinous criminal acts and causing harm and trauma to many innocent people, mostly children and their families -- not through legal means and hard work and dedication. When are the headlines going to read "Convicted Pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein" or "Registered Sex Offender, Jeffrey Epstein?"

by Anonymousreply 594July 22, 2019 6:51 PM

Will someone more experienced than I, the OP, create a new thread, please?

by Anonymousreply 595July 22, 2019 6:56 PM

R594, Pedophilia's a diagnosis, not a crime per se and Epstein doesn't fit the technical definition of pedophilia--a sexual attraction to prepubescent children. His preference seems to be for very young adolescents. "Registered sex offender" makes for a cumbersome lede.

As long as the story's getting coverage, the women are being heard and Epstein continue to stay in jail, I can deal with the variations in the descriptions of Epstein.

And I really, really want to know how he actually made that money.
