She looked good enough to bang RDJ and JFK Jr. I would not call her beautiful, but she has a certain charisma. She's 54 years old and I find it rather admirable that she has been able to sustain a career so long without being a standard Hollywood beauty. I’ll see the trailers for Divorce and almost immediately think that I’m seeing a Carrie Bradshaw update.

She's an easy target because of her looks. I side-eye her behavior. Her "good girl" image seems so insincere these days, in light of how she acted during her feud with Kim Cattrall. Parker kept whining about not being able to make a 3rd "Sex And The City" movie, blaming it entirely on Cattrall. She regularly talked about it to the media and to her wonk-eyed bestie Andy Cohen, when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live. She wouldn't stop commenting about it instead of letting it die down. She enlisted other actors from the show to back her up in her media campaign against Cattrall (remember, she's a producer with a lot of power). And nobody was asking for another SATC movie anyway, after that atrocious 2nd one. But Parker needed that movie to stay relevant and to get more lucrative endorsements as a fashionista, which I never thought she was. Patricia Field, costume designer and stylist for the SATC series, gets most of the credit.

I heard negative stories about Parker's conduct on the series. Friends with Darren Star, the show's creator, she became an executive producer during the second season and changed things solely for her benefit. Unlike what the respective casts of Seinfeld and Friends had done, she didn't use her power to negotiate better salaries for her co-stars. Of course, she got more money as a producer. She also got bonus money every time she had product placement of designer goods on the show. She alone, even though her co-stars were expected to show off products in various scenes. Not a team player, that Sarah.

Parker refused to do nude scenes and that was her right. Samantha (Cattrall's character) was put into more and more ludicrous nude situations as time went on. Samantha, not Carrie, was the breakout character of the show. Perhaps Parker's ego couldn't handle it and she made sure, as executive producer, that her character looked the best. That would explain why so many hot men were throwing themselves at Carrie, which was really fiction that was hard to swallow.

If these stories are true, then she's getting the face she deserves. Cattrall is a far better actress. Parker seems to play a variation of Carrie in every role.

Yeah, she dated JFK Jr., but I question his taste. He was into unremarkable blondes: SJP, Madonna, Darryl Hannah, and Carolyn Bessette (a stylish woman, but long in the face like Parker).

JFK Jr chose to be seen with her when he was still trying to pursue acting. SJP was one of the few high profile actresses in NYC and he could get some industry attention that way. The relationship was solely that he could use her in every way possible. Zero real attraction.

Oh well, I'll go there. I know people who know her (she spent part of her childhood living in my city). I've only heard that she's very sweet, but also disciplined when it comes to work. She was more conventionally attractive when she was younger, but managed to have a career while avoiding the most obvious plastic surgery. I've really liked her in some roles.

She has no beauty, a little talent, and unbelievably fathomless amounts of determination and ambition. There aren't many people in Hollywood who have made it to the top almost entirely by sheer nerve, but she is one. (Bradley Cooper and Gwyneth Paltrow are two others--although they are genuinely good-looking and have more acting talent.)

I posted upthread (too lazy to locate the post). She's originally from Nelsonville, Ohio. I've been to Nelsonville: I got lost in Appalachian Ohio on the way to The Wilds (a wild animal park in Eastern Ohio). Try looking up Nelsonville on Google maps. It's a place you'd leave and never re-visit (and I still live in Ohio). Her family promoted her pretty heavily. She managed to achieve a level of success that she probably never imagined. Yet, by all counts (the people I know) she's still a nice person. Cincinnati Chili gets called every kind of slop whenever it appears on DL. My local chili parlor has several friendly photos of SJP and Matthew from their visits to town. Of course, it's all subject to massive fakery. I guess I don't see a relatively well-known celebrity pausing for casual photos at a greasy spoon restaurant (the only reason I'd every be there in the first place).

The smoky eye is doing her no favors. She runs that black eyeliner so hard all around her inner eye that she has turned herself into a Roswell alien. She also has those veiny hands like Maddona. Though last I saw, Madge had those puffed up like her face.

It's been ages since I watched an episode of SATC and I only watched the show on re-runs, but I remember thinking back then that Parker was not a particularly good actor. None of them were that good in the show, although Nixon does have the most talent. Parker couldn't bring her TV success to the big screen outside of the SATC films. I doubt she ever will.

I think the reasons so many gay men don't like her are multiple, and they have little to do with her hanging out with Andy Cohen, nor with her fight with Kim Cattrall (gay men who don't like her really don't care if another SATC movie is ever made).

1) SATC always pushed Carrie as beautiful, and then so did the marketing for her personal products (like "Lovely" the perfume). Most gay men do not find her beautiful since she's skinny and rawboned and had a big nose and a long jaw, and like to make fun of her for that--it's the "Blossom, you're so beautiful" dynamic all over again. The tru8th is that SJP just is NOT beautiful, and at her best she was adorable--but she let that go to her head, and wanted people to pretend she was beautiful because it fed her ego.

2) The character she played on SATC was brand-obsessed, materialistic, and greedy, and the show was clearly marketed to gay men as much as to women. now many gay men identify with all this in her character, but, but many other gay men want very much NOT to be like this (they are stereotypes of us), and react against her for this reason.

3) She has been in what many gay men assume is a lavender marriage.

r94, only a couple of people came out in support of SJP and they’re all more or less struggling or has-been actors who are depending on her and more SATC for their careers. It also feels very orchestrated.

My partner worked with Kim on a play here in London a few years ago and I know lots of people who absolutely adore her and can’t speak highly enough of her. But they obviously aren’t going to randomly phone up a tabloid to say so.

I agree. There's a close-up shot of her where's she's putting on an eyeliner right before meeting Aiden for dinner in Morocco and she looks like a toothless transvestite witch in that shot. I can't believe she was fine with this scene being in the final cut of the film. I'm guessing she's surrounded by a group of yes men who keep telling her how pretty she looks all the time and how wonderful the dark eyeliner looks on her so she completely lost the ability of being self-critical.

She wears the dark eyeliner to accentuate her best facial feature - her eyes. Without the dark liner, your eyes will go elsewhere and she can't have that.

If I were her, I would go under the knife and take that nose down, slim the bridge and bulb. Fillers or some sort of implant might help make her face a little wider and less elongated. The first season of Divorce wasn't great but it did get better in the 2nd. We dropped HBO so not sure I'll watch season 3.

SJP is also executive producer and when I was watching the credits I saw Thomas Haden Church has some kind of producer credit so probably worth it for them to do another season.

What R147... she just needs to gain a little weight and find a hairstyle that doesn't look so ratty, over coloured, over processed, and flatters her. I always thought she looked her best with her hair up... balances the points and angles of her face, which are sharp. And they smokey eye and eyeliner do her no favours. Her eyes are really small now... probably due to bad work... and they just accentuate it.

I also think she looks... her best... with shorter hair.

Always found her cloying and unlikeable. Then I saw her on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld, and she came off as truly offbeat, quirky, and authentic. Also she wasn’t dressed like a wannabe fashion plate in the episode, she was just herself.

Could it be the eye makeup? She seems to just have two shiny black orbs which look a bit unnerving.

I have a feeling that’s she’s the one insisting on this style of eye makeup. Bottom eyeliner is a huge mistake for her face. She needs to ditch the liner and just go with eyelash extensions if desired, or some subtle eyeshadow to create the illusion of larger eyes. Personally I love how she looked in the final season on SATC, she had lowlights and highlights in her hair and it was styled softly. Although her makeup in seasons 3-4 was flawless.

Her blue eyes looks so much better when she lets them shine with a touch of mascara instead of framing them with heavy liner. I bet her hair would also go back to it’s healthy shininess if she stopped worrying about being skinny. Fuck being that skinny at 50. It’s better to radiate with good health.
