This may be Richard's first time living in Los Angeles, but it's not like it's his first time there and he knows nobody. He's been acting for a long time and has made plenty of friends and connections both in England and America. As people upthread have already mentioned, some of his closest friends from England spend a lot of time in Los Angeles themselves these day for their own careers. And I was following awards season as it happened and according to more than one entertainment journalist, behind the scenes, hot off Bodyguard, he was someone a LOT of people wanted to meet. He is NOT that dependant on Brandon as being the ONLY person he can possibly spend all that time with.

I watched Richard in that stupid British thriller series Bodyguard. I had no idea the actor is gay. He's hot but had or has bad skin. And short? He's got a few years on this guy Brandon, no?

I really enjoyed this Brandon interview (from last June). He is quite lovely, really thoughtful and quite well-spoken.

I was always of the opinion that those pap photos were clearly staged. Richard and Brandon called those paps and wanted to have people speculate about them. The reveal was carefully planned and just in time for Madden's Rocketman promo, in time for his Emmy Awards campaign and in time for the reveal of his Times cover (his publicist deserves a big raise.
