Interesting opinion piece on the "Ilhan Omar trap"

Democrats' support of her reckless and careless remarks are going to lead to 4 . more years of Trump.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 119April 15, 2019 11:05 PM

They sanctioned her, which is support now, according to you and The Atlantic?

Fucking enough. Democrats not being perfect will lead to four more years of Trump! Muslims and trans will lead to four more years of Trump! Some rando posting about canned tomatoes on Datalounge will lead to four more years of Trump! New Tide Pods are going to lead to four more years of Trump!

by Anonymousreply 1April 15, 2019 1:27 PM

But it will. The people that decide elections are the middle ground people. They will be swayed by asinine things like this. We know what she meant but a smart politician would never bring this up or phrase it like she did. It's a gift to the right. This moron and AOC only care about making a name for themselves. The goal is 2020. Anything that hurts that goal should be tossed aside.

by Anonymousreply 2April 15, 2019 1:35 PM

You fools. This ragheaded pig and those like her in congress will absolutely ring about Trumps second term.

by Anonymousreply 3April 15, 2019 1:40 PM

Omar, Tlaib, Gillibrand, Ellison, Ocasio-Cortez and the Dem candidates who joined the Bigot Sharpton's Parade of Fools are indicative of a party that has lost both its direction and its mind.

by Anonymousreply 4April 15, 2019 1:43 PM

She reminds me of Yassmin Abdel-Magied from the Sudan who the powers that be in Australia for some reason anointed as a "voice" and who said so much deliberately divisive anti-Australia and anti-Australian shit on TV and social media day after day that she eventually got what she so desperately wanted (being hated and thus being able to turn around and play the victim) and fled to the UK to continue her shit-stirring ways over there. She's not missed.

Muslims like Omar only serve one master, Allah (the greatest of deceivers).

by Anonymousreply 6April 15, 2019 1:47 PM

Some of you need to stop living in fear. Trump voters are going to vote Trump, they are lost to us. And you know what, if someone is straddling the fence between 4 more years of insanity and a chance to get this country back on track, then fuck them to. I'm tried of being held hostage. For some reason the conservative right can walk around holding pictures of aborted fetuses or yelling fag or inciting violence at political rallies or being racist and you never see think pieces on how they are going to lose the middle.

And yes, I realize that democrats are much more dependent on the middle than republicans are. But I'm done. Either you're for Trump or you're not. If the actions of one freshman representative impacts your vote that much, then go vote for him and be happy.

You see this in the Mayor Pete threads. The middle won't vote for a gay man. Then you know what, maybe we need to work a little harder to start getting more democrats to the polls. Stop being afraid and stop being pussies and start fighting.

by Anonymousreply 7April 15, 2019 1:48 PM

Trump doubles down:

Before Nancy, who has lost all control of Congress and is getting nothing done, decides to defend her leader, Rep. Omar, she should look at the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and ungrateful U.S. HATE statements Omar has made. She is out of control, except for her control of Nancy!

by Anonymousreply 8April 15, 2019 1:52 PM

I think Omar is a self righteous asshole.

by Anonymousreply 9April 15, 2019 1:59 PM

She is a self-righteous shit-stirrer. A pity, because she had a good hand of cards to play.

by Anonymousreply 10April 15, 2019 2:00 PM

And, R8?

What do you expect from a man even Fox News pulled the plug on last week because of his rambling "incoherence"?

Of course Trump will Tweet to his base about Omar and Pelosi; it's the red meat they otherwise can no longer afford because of their idol's tax cuts and ACA rollbacks.

by Anonymousreply 11April 15, 2019 2:04 PM

She has a big mouth. Like Trump Super annoying.

I don't care about her Israel stuff. I just care that she blabs non-stop about it.

She's like Jeanette Vizguerra. Big mouth who makes her people look bad.

by Anonymousreply 12April 15, 2019 2:04 PM

[quote]if someone is straddling the fence between 4 more years of insanity and a chance to get this country back on track, then fuck them

R7 By "four more years of insanity" you mean record low unemployment (especially in the black and Hispanic communities)? It's the economy, stupid. People vote with their pocketbooks. Didn't you learn anything from Bill Clinton?

by Anonymousreply 13April 15, 2019 2:05 PM

What a time to be alive.

by Anonymousreply 14April 15, 2019 2:07 PM

Trump's gonna win in 2020 regardless, it would be nice to see the democrats establishing themselves as an effective opposition party.... or they could be a sideshow I guess...

by Anonymousreply 15April 15, 2019 2:10 PM

In my time, freshmen Congressmen (and the ladies were called that, too) were barely seen and never heard. They worked their way gradually up the hierarchy.

Which is why Democrats won the House more consistently.

by Anonymousreply 16April 15, 2019 2:15 PM

This is an extraordinarily unpopular opinion I know, but until the Dems can let go of identity politics, we're going to lose.

by Anonymousreply 17April 15, 2019 2:17 PM

R17 I agree. It's poison.

by Anonymousreply 18April 15, 2019 2:22 PM

This thread brought out the Russian trolls like flies to horse shit.

by Anonymousreply 19April 15, 2019 2:24 PM

What a load of concern troll garbage. The only thing Dems do wrong is in not supporting her. The brainwashed GOP cult of sadists, losers, and racists is never going to vote for Dems.

Time to bring out the Dem base by actually standing up for something and being energetic.

by Anonymousreply 20April 15, 2019 2:27 PM

[quote]until the Dems can let go of identity politics, we're going to lose.

First of all, 'identity politics' is a phrase coined by the right. What they mean by it is CIVIL RIGHTS. The day the Democrats abandon civil rights is the day they lose my vote, and the votes of millions of others as well. That this needs to be explained on a gay board is pathetic.

I have little use for a gaffe-prone, shit stirring anti-Semite like Omar. But this article was written by David Frum - a former Dubya speechwriter. Why the fuck are Dems ALWAYS dithering about these sorts of critiques by Republican pieces of crap like him? They don't want us to succeed, idiots, abd they certainly don't have the Democratic party's best interests at heart. Even the never-Trumpers are still conservatives, and they still hate us. Tune them out and get to work.

by Anonymousreply 21April 15, 2019 2:34 PM

She's too into being a celebrity. AOC actually does good work (e.g., hear questioning at the Cohen hearing). Plus, she's granular on social media, so she's earning her notoriety bit by bit. Omar just thinks that by making huge statements, she's going to gain followers. You have to keep the social media flow pretty low-key but constant.

I really hope staff come out and leak info about her diva behavior behind the scenes.

by Anonymousreply 22April 15, 2019 2:34 PM

I feel like most actual Dems don't give a shit what people like Frum say, but that trolls, shit-stirrers and a media looking for clicks pretend like they do, just to have something to talk about.

It's been a long time since I've seen a concerned Democrat that I thought was genuinely concerned and not a troll.

by Anonymousreply 23April 15, 2019 2:37 PM

Interesting, R5. She's from Sudan. Omar is from Somalia. I've noticed that Somali-Americans are very vocal and active in politics (Minnesota, Maine), protesting labor conditions, religious accommodations, and limits on social benefits. I wonder if it's cultural, an East African Islamic thing.

by Anonymousreply 25April 15, 2019 2:50 PM

R21, you’re full of shit.

Good news for people who like good news: some of the people I know who had the severest cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome are coming around. The collapse of the Russia bullshit, the cringey stupid stuff Omar and AOC keep doing and the media’s way of blaming their gaffes on Trump, contrasted with the good economy and lack of wars had moved the needle. They’re no longer terminal cases!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I believe the Dems know 2020 is an impossibility and they’re marking time until the current Twitter activists who are holding them hostage with far left ideas grow up a bit and become less volatile. They made this bed but they don’t wanna lie in it.

Identity politics is poison. The left wants to separate everyone by sex, gender, race, religion and orientation 99% of the time to distract you from global corporatism; the right is united by ideas that are predicated on America being the best thing going and let’s make small improvements. Today’s right doesn’t care what your sex, gender, race, religion and orientation is.

by Anonymousreply 26April 15, 2019 2:50 PM

There are Trump voters very chagrined and disappointed as to how he's conducted himself in office who are open to voting for a middle of the road Democratic. A gay candidate is not the biggest hurdle. It's talk of reparations, it's talk of socialism, it's transgender politics and it's AOC and Omar spewing their radical ideas. And, it's Bernie fear. This is what will push those truly on the fence over to Trump. And this is the margin of votes needed to put a Democratic back in the White House.

by Anonymousreply 27April 15, 2019 2:51 PM

Translation of R26:

Dems: Party that wants to be virtuous and self-righteous.

Repubs: Party that wants to get elected.

by Anonymousreply 28April 15, 2019 2:53 PM

R27, I don't care about chagrined Trump voters. They are not the reliable Dem base. They might vote for a centrist Dem this year and then vote GOP 2 years from now because they're mad about a tax cut. In fact, they already did that, switching from Obama to Trump.

I care about getting progressives riled up and voting. And that takes actual stands. The Dems need to become the party of FDR again.

Criticizing Israel is not anti-Semitic. Not every Jew lives in or supports Israel. Not every Israeli supports their extreme right wing government. America spends billions funding Israel in their racist war to purify the land that they stole from the people that lived there, and don't even want to let them self-govern.

by Anonymousreply 32April 15, 2019 3:14 PM

R29 Reliable Dems? What did they get us in 2016?

Building a pipeline of progressives is fine, but in 2020, Republican fence-sitters disgusted with Trump are what's going to make an impact.

I agree dissatisfied Trumpsters voting against type in a 2nd term year would swing right back to GOP in 2024. So what? That's been the case for both parties for decades. Vote anti-party, anti-candidate to send a message is SOP.

by Anonymousreply 33April 15, 2019 3:19 PM

Oh god, R24. You're at fucking WORK, not church or mosque. Why exactly do they need special prayer time while on the clock? Pray and worship on your own time. This is honestly just annoying.

I think the attacks on Ilhan Omar have been really horrid and the president himself is definitely inciting violence against her and other Muslims (see a repeat of the Pittsburgh / New Zealand massacres in our future), but I would really like it if Omar was a bit smarter about the things she says. She is just entirely too vocal right now and giving the Right ready-made sound bytes to use. Anyone with a brain could have told you that the "some people did something" quote was just waiting for a Fox News amplification moment. She really should know better.

by Anonymousreply 34April 15, 2019 3:24 PM

Oh, Democrats are always 'failing' and 'in-fighting' and 'disorganized'... and our candidates are always 'unpopular' and 'in trouble' with 'too much baggage'. Republican brainwashing.

by Anonymousreply 35April 15, 2019 3:26 PM

Agree with r17.

As a lifelong Democrat, I despair.

by Anonymousreply 36April 15, 2019 3:28 PM

I said this in a AOC thread, but since the thread got deleted (of course), I'll repeat here: you'd think after losing 2016 partially due to "identity politics", that those who are the most guilty of it would have looked in the mirror for some honest self-reflection and made the necessary adjustments to try and win back voters (in particular in the swing states that were lost), but it seems that since then they've only doubled down on it, which only appeals to stronghold states that are in no danger of shifting anyway. It's baffling.

by Anonymousreply 37April 15, 2019 3:35 PM

Yes, 2018 was a poor me moment.

Here's the reality- we have to stand with each other. If it's not Omar, it's AOC, or Warren, or Pelosi, Waters or Harris. The Republicans will always find a woman to demonize. Extra points for skin color.

by Anonymousreply 38April 15, 2019 3:36 PM

Just a reminder that the people who actually vote for Democrats and the people who are constantly offended on Twitter are two entirely different populations:

Omar appeals to the latter and scares the former.

While AOC comes off as a bright woman, whether or not you agree with her, Omar just comes off as a loud-mouthed idiot, feeding into every negative stereotype of leftists and Muslims and hijacking the national conversation for her own self-interest.

She has given Trump his bogeyman and fear that she will have a role in a Sanders or Warren administration will re-elect him. Sanders, whom I supported in 2016, has become even more doctrinaire and rigid and is the worst thing that has happened to the party in years.

I have a problem with her (or anyone else) attempting to minimize acts of terrorism.

The most idiotic thing I heard is someone from CAIR creating a ludicrous parallel between conspiracy nuts who claim 9/11 was an inside job and her comments.

By not openly and rigorously disavowing the actions of terrorists, you implicitly sanction them.

by Anonymousreply 40April 15, 2019 3:38 PM

Her entire CAIR speech was a misstep.

by Anonymousreply 41April 15, 2019 3:43 PM

She phrased it incorrectly. She was saying that "some people did some things, and suddenly everyone is saying all Muslims are terrorists". She should have said "several people who claim to be practicing Muslims, but who aren't, did something absolutely horrible ..."

by Anonymousreply 42April 15, 2019 3:43 PM

[quote]Repubs: Party that wants to get elected.

So the Dems don't want to get elected? Well that's become obvious!

by Anonymousreply 43April 15, 2019 3:44 PM

The problem is that AOC won't jettison her. So Omar is here to stay. The press will keep covering her no matter how much other Dems ignore and disavow her. AOC will retweet and the press will just keep on going.

by Anonymousreply 44April 15, 2019 3:44 PM

Omar is an idiot and you can bet that the DNC is already looking for her replacement and building a war chest to get rid of her.

Her microaggressions towards Jews and referring to the horrible slaughter of 3,000 people as "some thing" show a lack of intelligence, insight and common sense. She is the left version of that hideous King character.

But by then Justin Trudeau may not be PM.

by Anonymousreply 49April 15, 2019 3:57 PM

"They will be swayed by asinine things like this"

No one will remember this in a year

"She is the left version of that hideous King character"

No, she's not, and it figures that DL would lump a pro-gay woman in with a gay basher like King.

by Anonymousreply 50April 15, 2019 3:58 PM

How the fuck is she 'pro-gay'? She said she supported 'LGBTQ' and we all know what that means: TRANS, which is the only acceptable path in her religion.

by Anonymousreply 51April 15, 2019 3:59 PM

R45 It's called deflection, used by Muslims who understand the extent of Western gullibility and therefore state publicly some variation of "terrorists aren't real/true Muslims". They are, since terrorism has been used all over Europe, Asia and Africa by Muslims as a means to subjugate both Muslims and non-Muslims.

by Anonymousreply 52April 15, 2019 3:59 PM

"Just a reminder that the people who actually vote for Democrats and the people who are constantly offended on Twitter are two entirely different populations"

Well, based on that article you posted the "people who are constantly offended" are more likely to be college educated.

"How the fuck is she 'pro-gay'? She said she supported 'LGBTQ' and we all know what that means: TRANS, which is the only acceptable path in her religion."

She supports gay rights, Einstein, and the people who support gays AND trans people are usually liberal. People who hate trans people are usually conservative.

by Anonymousreply 53April 15, 2019 4:03 PM

R45, I included that because that's the standard line from mainstream pundits and CAIR: "the terrorists claimed to practice Islam, but they don't know the first thing about Islam, etc."

It's usually horseshit but I'm just saying that's what she should have said — the standard prefatory line.

by Anonymousreply 54April 15, 2019 4:04 PM

[quote]She phrased it incorrectly. She was saying that "some people did some things, and suddenly everyone is saying all Muslims are terrorists". She should have said "several people who claim to be practicing Muslims, but who aren't, did something absolutely horrible ..."

While it is possible she meant something along those lines, it's not really possible to know for certain. But, even the equivocation on "people who CLAIM to be practicing Muslims" would have raised the some backlash for the comment because it still tries to distance itself from the act.

She would have to have said something much more affirmative: "Criminals and terrorists did something horrible in the name of Islam, and the rest of us have been lumped along with them."

by Anonymousreply 55April 15, 2019 4:07 PM

You people are secretly Fox viewers, is that it? You sure seem to fall for Republican propaganda.

If you don't like Omar (or AOC, Tlaib, etc.), go ahead and vote Republican. Then you can watch your health care be decimated, your Medicare and Social Security cut or eliminated, your wages stagnating, your water supply polluted, your lungs killed with coal, etc., etc. And your rights as a gay person rolled back. Plus a couple of wars thrown in for good measure.

by Anonymousreply 56April 15, 2019 4:09 PM

I would LOVE to hear what she tells her own family, or what she says in Somali to other Somalis about homosexuality. Yes, in public she says the right things and she has gone to Pride parades - if she were anti-gay there is no way in hell she would win that district. But she also wears Islam on her sleeve (well at least on her head), and Somalis are notorious for their homophobia.

Ilhan Omar is my representative in the 5th district of MN. She won that contest with 78% of the vote after defeating several established politicians in the primaries. We are 2/3 caucasian in the 5th by the way. She replaced Keith Ellison, another muslim, to take the seat. We don't have camels wandering down the highway and Shaira law isn't a blip on ANYONES radar. [quote]It was a careful choice of words, Bernard Lewis being nothing if not careful. In 2004, the West audibly gasped when its preeminent scholar of Islam famously told the German newspaper Die Welt,“Europe will be Islamic by the end of the century,” if not sooner.

[quote]Listen carefully. He did not say that Muslims will be the majority population in what is still recognizably Europe. No, Professor Lewis said “Europe will be Islamic.”

[quote]We are not talking about Muslims here. We are talking about Islam. Lots of individual Muslims desire peaceful coexistence, even assimilation. But Islam’s aim is to prevail. So, yet again this week, Lewis’s foreboding has been brought to the fore by a jihadist mass-murder attack, this time in London.

by Anonymousreply 80April 15, 2019 5:15 PM

[quote] Well, based on that article you posted the "people who are constantly offended" are more likely to be college educated.

And that is a key point lost on many people-- the true base of the Democrats are union workers and others without a college education, a sizable number of whom are otherwise socially conservative African-Americans in the South.

Also, the fact that the loudest voices on Twitter are college graduates (Oberlin and Bennington, no doubt), they don't represent the majority of college graduates, even the majority of graduates of top colleges who vote for Democrats.

Twitter is a dangerous bubble and the point of the article was that candidates need to stop basing their campaigns on what "Twitter" is saying.

"some people who CLAIM to be muslims..."

HELLO! Mohammud was a mass murderer, a rapist and enslaver. Islamic terrorists are following the example of their prophet and the violent directives of their islamic god. Hate, violence, domination, and murder are, if the not the very essence of islam, they are a huge factor. There have been over 30,000 islamic terror attacks around the globe since 9/11, most of them inter-islamic fighting, but not all. Add to it the incredible amount of violence being perpetuated against non-muslims, the destruction of churches, all of it sanctified by the islamic foundational texts, and you get a better idea exactly what a real muslim is. No other group is doing all this shit, and it has been going on for 1,400 years. And the supposed moderate muslim say nothing.

by Anonymousreply 84April 15, 2019 5:20 PM

R81 NAILED IT. These loudmouth Twitter SJW types DO NOT represent anything close to the majority of Americans, or even Democrats. Yet the campaigns keep kow-towing to them. When Muslims keep screaming about forcing Dems to say #IstandwithIlhanOmar, they don't just mean against death threats - they want to make her anti-Semitism one of the party planks.

by Anonymousreply 86April 15, 2019 5:21 PM

OP is a Deplorable Trump voter. Fuck off, creep.

by Anonymousreply 87April 15, 2019 5:22 PM

R70, it's not surprising that moderates flipped essentially *conservative* districts who are dead sick of Trump and progressives won in progressive districts because of gerrymandering. I wonder how many truly "moderate" districts there actually are anymore. Probably very few.

The "moderate" strategy as a whole has been a catastrophic failure for the last 20 years. People were disgusted with the Democratic party -- that's why 2016 happened. America IS progressive as a whole. They support universal health care, higher minimum wages, gun control, are pro-choice, and want Dreamers to be able to stay here. It's just that Dems have not until recently branded themselves as strongly standing for these things -- are standing for much of anything except "we're better than the GOP."

by Anonymousreply 88April 15, 2019 5:23 PM

The Israeli gov't under Netanyahu is vile, disgusting, authoritarian, and apartheid. It is the chief enemy of country of Israel. Already the young and POC are seeing that. Dems need to call that out.

by Anonymousreply 89April 15, 2019 5:25 PM

Americans wanted to show how progressive they were by electing Trump, r88?

by Anonymousreply 90April 15, 2019 5:26 PM

[quote] Maybe in 2100 Notre Dame will be a mosque.

It's currently on fire and may not be still standing by tomorrow.

R90, yes, because they wanted to send a message of "fuck you" to the Dems -- of "anything but this [supposedly liberal but actually not doing nearly enough to improve our lives] shit."

by Anonymousreply 93April 15, 2019 5:31 PM

R76 As individuals what do any of them do? She is one of many. In terms of bridging the divide between groups in her district-- yes this is something she focuses on. Did you actually watch the video you posted? The 'victim' was smiling throughout the encounter. You conflate a rowdy bunch of middle schoolers with international terrorism. Have you ever been around a pack of bored 11-14 years olds? They are merciless to everyone. Do you even interact with people of different backgrounds and faiths as a part of your daily life? If you did you'd realize it's the positive interactions: kindness, acknowledgement, recognition, change individuals one at a time. Those kids in the video are the bridge between their old world and the new. I'm happy a Minneapolis boy or girl from Africa or Asia can SEE that someone just like them can succeed in business or politics. The other option is the French system: ignore and isolate.

by Anonymousreply 94April 15, 2019 5:32 PM

R94 is happy to be berated for being gay in public so long as it's dark skinned people doing it. Pathetic.

[QUOTE]Maybe in 2100 Notre Dame will be a mosque.

Notre Dame is currently burning right now.

by Anonymousreply 96April 15, 2019 5:36 PM

Sorry, just to clarify, is Notre Dame on fire at the moment?

by Anonymousreply 97April 15, 2019 5:38 PM

First Joan Collins's Belgravia flat and now Notre Dame! The world is on fire!

by Anonymousreply 98April 15, 2019 5:41 PM

R93, if progressives voted for Trump to punish Dems for not being progressive enough, they belong in mental health care, not the voting booth.

by Anonymousreply 99April 15, 2019 5:42 PM

MARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOMEONE START A THREAD ABOUT NOTRE DAME

Has Faux News already blamed Omar for the Notre Dame fire?

by Anonymousreply 102April 15, 2019 5:55 PM

Has MSNBC blamed Trump for the Notre Dame fire? I'm sure Rachel will be all over it tonight.

Is that you at R103, Tucker? Isn't it about time for your third lunch of the day?

Why do some of y'all hate it when a Muslim isn't a walking stereotype? Y'all need to get out more and stop being paranoid. I understand your fear of Islam, this doesn't mean you should be afraid of every Muslim out there.

by Anonymousreply 106April 15, 2019 6:09 PM

R78, she is very much a "dummy", especially when it comes to math and economics. She has a fact check profile similar to Trump's.

Oh look. The LSA cunt is here.

by Anonymousreply 108April 15, 2019 6:10 PM

R88, the progressives that lost were in blue districts and a few were in California where they actually ran against another Democrat instead of a Republican.

And, hey, the all or nothing progressive strategy has been working out real well over the past two years (eyeroll).

by Anonymousreply 109April 15, 2019 6:15 PM

As someone I used to hear on the radio liked to say, more than one thing can be true.

The trump & similar stuff w. edited clips is vile.

She either knows she's playing with fire, saying things reasonable people will find to be offensive and disturbing or she's blindingly stupid for not knowing as much. (Assuming the fire, her motivation is what? And that's not a rhetorical question.)

With regard to the party, could she be less of a team-player? She comes across as blindingly arrogant, showing middle fingers to the club she chose to join, entered the club and told all and sundry in it how things would be.

Coincidence or otherwise that this approach taken by a non-trivial number of islamic immigrants in any number of countries has left reasonable people rather limited in their enthusiasm for islam??

by Anonymousreply 110April 15, 2019 6:22 PM

R109, what all-or-nothing progressive strategy? That's certainly not what's been put out there by Pelosi & Schumer.

A few individual progressives may have lost races, and a few very progressive progressives won huge... people like Ayana Pressley and obviously AOC. These people are reinvigorating the party and getting usual non-voters excited about voting. That is HUGE.

Anyhow, it's not about a few individual races. It's about the brand of the party. Dems used to be known as the party that reliably supported the middle class and the working person. In the 80s, that changed. Dems were bought out by corporate donations and became feckless, mealy-mouthed, passionless wafflers. That's what's turned people off. That's what's changing, thank god.

by Anonymousreply 111April 15, 2019 8:00 PM

Dems are whores. But they're "caring" whores. Where's a Sure, Jan gif when you need one?

by Anonymousreply 112April 15, 2019 8:03 PM

Do you think Omar, with her rhetoric, contributes to the reinvigoration of the party? Please elaborate if you think so.

by Anonymousreply 113April 15, 2019 8:05 PM

She seems to be more of a Burn It All Down type just like DL fave Susan Sarandon. For some reason, Susan gets vilified for that while Ilhan gets to hide behind her hajib and cry Islamophobia.

by Anonymousreply 114April 15, 2019 8:07 PM

I recently heard a great question about Omar (but I won't say from who because he's hated here): "she came here as a Somali refugee.... why did she come, if she wants to change everything???"

by Anonymousreply 115April 15, 2019 8:14 PM

Is Omar dancing in the streets in ecstasy over the burning of Notre Dame?

by Anonymousreply 116April 15, 2019 8:14 PM

[quote] I recently heard a great question about Omar (but I won't say from who because he's hated here): "she came here as a Somali refugee.... why did she come, if she wants to change everything???"

Yes change is bad. We need to strike down gay marriage and reestablish the sodomy laws.

Minorities should shut up about change.

by Anonymousreply 117April 15, 2019 10:15 PM

If you want to believe that Omar gives a flying fuck about gay marriage, then I'll let you keep that delusion.

by Anonymousreply 118April 15, 2019 10:20 PM

R21

“ The day the Democrats abandon civil rights is the day they lose my vote, and the votes of millions of others as well. That this needs to be explained on a gay board is pathetic.”

I guess they’ve lost your vote.

Civil rights don’t matter to socialists.
