To be fair to OP, the Schitt's Creek twitter had heavily suggested Patrick's coming out to his parents this week.

I personally loved the episode.

This show is soooo uneven. There can be a great episode followed by a dud. Patrick and David have NO chemistry whatsoever, and the guy who plays Patrick is wooden.

I’m really tired of Eugene Levy and Katherine O’Hara’s perpetual awkward, fish-out-of-water storylines. Neither has had any real character development through the course of the entire series, especially Levy. I don’t get Moira’s character; the superciliousness, overblown vocabulary and weird accent are just not appealing to me in the least, and I isually adore O’Hara.

Stevie, David and Alexis save it, though David is getting a little precious, and that scene of him lisynching to Tina Turner is one of the most painful things I’ve seen on TV ever.

That's an impressive sequence of terrible opinions, r16. Noah Reid isn't wooden at all, he and Dan Levy have lovely chemistry and Moira's over-the-topness is the whole damn point of her character.

OK, I haven't seen it yet and the spoiler doesn't tell me much that I haven't predicted.

My spidey sense tells me that Patrick's parents attend the surprise party, and the surprise is not only on Patrick but on his parents who don't know that their son is gay.

Noah Reid has the acting range on a 2X4 but is less flexible.

Agree with you 100%. The episodes, including this absurd coming out episode are credited as written by Daniel Levy. I have noticed anything written by him is unfunny and just awful. So far this season and last as well, half the episodes just suck and are not funny. David lipsynching to Tina Turner was completely unnecessary and puts a knife in the creativity of Patrick singing it the week before. My favourite character is Alexis (and Ted as her sidekick), then Stevie and Moira. Eugene Levy is the straight man of the bunch and does not have much to do except react to the setups. In 2019, unless the parents are insane evangelicals or moslem, most kids have no reason to worry about coming out. That makes Patrick's angst unbelievable and unnecessary.

Well, I loved the episode and found it totally believable in the SC universe.

The only thing I didn't see coming was Patrick's parents acceptance of his being gay. But had they always known, or did they just not give a fuck.

I don't think they knew, but it seemed as if they really loved their son and would accept him no matter what.

No, renewed for a final season. Dan Levy has been hinting about the end of the series for awhile.

Considering half the episodes this season and last were laugh-free POS, yes over due to end it.

I think what this show has always been missing is a villain or rival to the Roses or to the town. When the Roses are threatened that is when they are at their best.

As many have pointed out, it is even worse when a non-actor piece of wood like Noah Reid cannot cry even a little bit convincingly. His introduction brought down the quality of the show by at least 50% and it has never recovered.
