Shawn is pretty much over. I haven't heard any of his songs in weeks. Yet I heard Alec Benjamin's song again. It's still being played a lot.

Alec is honestly so much better. I'm into neither's music but at least Alec radiates positivity and wholesomeness.

Shawn Mendes first hit was from 2015, Sam Smith first hit was from 2014.

The streaming is not the difference, the difference is the audience. While Sam, Bruno Mars or Ed Sheeran (and of course Taylor Swift, Gaga or Adele) have audiences of all ages (with a huge number of adult fans), Shawn only appeal to preteen and teens.

Having teens fans has positive things, a lot of online presence and good streaming, it means low sales and your career is always on the verge of tanking because they change their minds after a minute. You need teen fans to make and impact on itunes but you need adult fans to have a lasting career.

And that's the reason why the Rolling Stone interview was such a faliure. That interview was crafted the attract new fans and all he got was losing some of the older ones. In my blood was an attempt to make something different, the lyrics are way better than his usual (not that difficult because most of his lyrics were cringeworthy to start with) and the tried a more adult theme. But there's something inherently fake in his interviews that is a complete turn off. You are supposed to feel empathy for the cute teen that is suffering for his fame but all you want his the boring narcissist to shut the fuck up

For those of you that believe that only one person tweets about Alec Benjamin here, I am not R589 or R590 so the fact is that at least three people prefer him over Shawn for various reasons shows that it's not just liking Alec for the sake of hating Shawn. His music is good. If you bothered to listen to Narrated for You, his EP, you'd know that his collection of ten songs is better than the entirety of Shawn's catalog. Don't believe me? Go listen to it for yourself and not just the single he's promoting in radio. It's undeniable for anyone who is not letting lust cloud their judgement.

Also, please don't let OP (likely the Shawn Mendes troll) start the next thread. His bussy never ruled the industry and we should go back to having a normal thread title or at least one that is mildly humorous. Maybe "Shawn Mendes needs his beta blockers" or "Shawn Mendes is vain and narcissistic" or just "Shawn Mendes Part 27" is better than this. Thank you.
